MATT, BRIAN AND DAN HELPED ME OUT SO MUCH IT WAS THE DAY BEFORE 4TH OF JULY MY TIRE WAS SLASHED. I WAS DESPERATELY TRYING TO GET MY CHILDREN TO THE BEACH. THEY WERE SWAMPED AND TOOK ME AND MY DAUGHTER IN RIGHT AWAY AND HELPED ME OUT MY DONUT ON. They are a LIFESAVER. Kieth at Mavis was so incredibly kind and helpful. I made an appointment online for the next one available which was in a few days. He called me that same night saying he had availability in 30 mins if i wanted to come then. He made sure my needs were met and even spoke to my dad on the phone while i was there about the services he would be doing. He made sure i left his shop safe and comfortable to be back on the road! Didnt have the tires I ordered when I arrived for my scheduled apt. Shame on me for not calling 1st. Then I called to make sure they were in for the next day scheduled apt, they only had 3 tires delivered. So now I wait for 2 more days. It is not the counter staffs fault. But they did not call back when they said they would. Also, they have my name right infront of them, STOP calling me honey, hon...
So I gave this place another try first I call I get 1 price. I get down there and the price is different. Then I ask for four tires they told me they have them and then they only have 3. Then he stated the only reason they sell these tires is for people that cant afford good ones. Then why are you selling me these tires if they arent any good.
I had an appointment at 1030 am. I checked in right on time and began waiting. Another customer came in after me, and i could easily overhear his conversation. It was clear he did not have an appointment. He checked in and his vehicle was then immediately brought into the service station. I inquired to the woman working why this occurred, and she acknowledged this shouldnt have happened and that my car should have been brought in first, and agreed to talk to the technician. She then went into the bathroom for nearly 5 minutes before coming back out, and I again asked her to look into the matter. She went and spoke to the technician Chris, and I could hear him cursing and flipping out about it and saying he didnt care and that he would work on my car later. I explained that this was not acceptable as I had an appointment and this other customer did not, and I was not going to sit and wait while this other customers car was worked on ahead of mine. After the display of this technician Chris, I no longer felt comfortable having him be the one to work on my car either. I took my keys back and left. Additionally, I was in the store on Thursday 10/7 when my tire first went flat. On that day the staff explained they could not patch my run flat tire due to corporate and manufacturer recommendations. The next recommendation of course was to change all tires as the car is AWD and they didnt have the one tire in stock. I wasnt able to commit to changing all tires on 10/7, so made my way home and then came up with a plan and scheduled appointment for today. Funny though, because I patched that tire at home and it has held air just fine. On 10/7 before leaving, this same technician Chris approached me and told me quietly that he would work on my tire on the side at his home address after business hours, and gave me his phone number. I did not take him up on his offer. It was creepy and uncomfortable. The entire experience with this company has been both disturbing and obviously quite unsatisfactory. I will now be seeking services elsewhere. Lady working was nice, not sure though whether she played a role in getting the other customers car in ahead of mine. Overall I would recommend going elsewhere unless youre in a dire emergency. And no need to reply with apologies or suggestion to contact corporate. I already did.
Im thankful for Mavis Rotterdam, the services they showed me was truly A Great Blessing. They saved me thousands of dollars. I brought my car to them and I change the tires also at an affordable price,they wont be undersold. Then they genuinely take care of the customers by first no matter what is being done they check under the hood, the fluids. This is where they blessed me. A previous oil change from another company the oil cap was left on top of the the engine. The oil was thrown over the engine. I had planned more running around and if it had Not been for the excellent service of caring about me and my car, is that the engine was at the seize up point. Im able to get that straightened out and continue to be okay. I now will go to Mavis Rotterdam for my car needs and guidance. They Are Genuinely The Best.
Once again Chris at Mavis came through for me. Made the mistake of going to midas for an inspection, because this location doesnt do the inspections, and realized what a asset these guys AT MAVIS are. Had a terrible experience over at midas and it very nearly cost me a lot of money. I will never go anywhere other than MAVIS again.These guys gave me a no nonsense rundown of what was wrong with my vehicle. Work was done quickly and professionally. Thanks to Chris and Heather. This is my new go to mechanic.
I already had my reservations about this specific mavis because my car caught a flat tire one night. I saw they were still open. A couple guys were outside talking and smoking cigs. I walked up to them and asked if they could help me out. They said they close in 10 mins and cant do anything about my flat tire. That was my first experience with them. I just recently went back to this same mavis on chrysler to have my front tires changed. Now i know for certain that i had all season tires on my car because thats all i put on my car. But for some reason the technician thought it would be a good idea to put sports tires on my car... In the winter time. I was driving home from amsterdam the other day and my car hit a patch of snow, it swerved this way and it swerved that way.. The end result was me flying into a ditch. Then flying out of a ditch. Right into the oncoming traffic lane. But lucky for me there was no traffic. I will NEVER EVER GO TO THAT STORE AGAIN. He tried to kill me
Manager was super helpful for a person in a time of need. Need a whole bunch of work and was beyond understanding and generous in making my vehicle safe for me to leave in. Wouldn’t have experienced this customer service anywhere else. Deserves more than just five stars.
I called Trish today with my tire concerns that a competitor had installed, she listen to my issue and was happy to look into it. Seeing that the tires were not balanced correctly she was willing to rebalance and correct the other shops error, I should have gone to this Mavis location in the first place. Thank you to Trish, truck rides smooth. I will be in for the alignment soon.
Very professional location. In particular one of the managers Heather. I have never seen her out of uniform. Very friendly and courteous with exemplary knowledge of how to approach customers. Every employee was right on the ball and never hesitated with their help. A fantastic manager with a superb crew.
I stopped here in a hurry, my two young sons were with me. I hit a pot hole and it loosened the sealing on my tire. Once the spare tire was put on (which has a nail in it) , I stopped at Mavis discount tire. The first tire shop I saw. I spoke w a woman named Heather who helped me fix my tire soon as I pulled in. I was all over the place, baby crying 🙄 and I felt S.O.L... Heather got me in and out and fixed what was a nightmare at the time to me. She made it seem like it was a snap of a finger and we were back in great shape like nothing even happened. I am very thankful for Heathers understanding and her excellent customer service. I ever have a tire issue,.. Mavis discount can count on me to come to there business before anyone elses. Thank you so much Heather.
Yesterday, the fifth if September was like a day of obstacles. My vehicle had a flat tire and the only place was Mavis. While there I noticed it was only two workers there. With all the customers with problems. These two individuals was outstanding, until this young gentleman comes in and says hes an assistant manager and came to help. This guy was no help, he was actually getting in the way. Plus he provided no assistance at all. Just tried barking commands. At one point I was going to ask what kind of help are you doing, however other patrons entered the building.
Went in with a tire with a slow leak. There was no pressure to buy a new tire. The tech fixed it and I was out of there within half an hour for under $25.00. Maybe not a great way to sell tires or just maybe it is, cause I know where I will go and who I will recommend when I do need them.
I dont usually go to Mavis, but this most recent experiance changed the future of that. They say your people are your biggest asset when it comes to your business and that was proven today with the exceptional service I got from Cory. I came in for two rear tires on my Rav4 and he had the best attitude you could have. I was in and out within a half hour and the whole process was smooth with no run around. I will be coming back in the future and hope Cory is there to take care of me.
I visited the Schenectady Mavis on Chrisler Ave today for a set of new tires and an alignment. The shop was clean, wait time was shorter than I anticipated and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The manager, Bob was kind and professional, kept me informed of the status on my vehicle and worked with me on getting the best quality tires within my price range. I will definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for quality vehicle service.
This is the one review I’ve ever done. I would be here all day if i were to describe the awful experience i had here. Please listen to me and take my advice NEVER NEVER NEVER go here. Keith at the front desk may have been the worst encounter i’ve had with a human in my 37 years on this planet. (I believe that was his name). Whoever was there 11/21.
I needed a tire due to a puncture. They replaced the tire and TPMS sensor. About a day later the TPMS light comes on. I bring it over. They state it’s not the sensor that has failed because they’re able to scan them all with their computer. They state it’s more than likely my spare tire which was buried by equipment. I go home and empty the trunk. I double check all tires are filled to spec, including the spare. Light persists.I go to Toyota. Low and behold the sensor Mavis installed was dead and not communicating with the car. Just go to the dealer with a 2018+ car if you can make it on your spare tire. Mavis can respond, promise to fix it if I bring it back, but returning twice for the same issue just shouldn’t happen in this case. At least going to the dealer it’s guaranteed fixed no shenanigans. 2 stars because the staff was polite or I’d have gone with 1.
I made an appointment here for a morning break inspection. I made the reservation a week prior and showed up only to be told that there is not a person qualified to do breaks today and the counter woman didnt trust the person working to look it over. I didnt ask why maybe they didnt make that information available online that only certain days they work on breaks, and I was told if I didnt like the answer to take my business elsewhere. So I did. Couldnt pay me to walk back through that place again.
Absolutely despicable. You can book an appt. On their website, well DONT!!!! Husband took it there 10 am, appt. Time. Calls in before noon and was told oh we are just going to pull it now and will take about 2 hours. Husband shows up right before 4, car sitting in exact same spot, never pulled in yet. Lady at counter not helpful, no offer for management. Got keys back and said taking my business elsewhere. Going to Adirondack tire and service in curry road. Much friendlier, nicer. Cleaner and neater. Two years ago I came to mavis and service was great, what happened? Of course they dont care you leave because they have so much business. Other customers there were irate also. Good luck.
The worst service I have ever experienced. Made appointment a week in advance for 4. Showed up at 4, was told there was 2 people in front of me and wait would be an hour. Turned into about 2 and once it was in service was slow. Didn’t leave until 830. On top of that the tires were balanced incorrectly giving me a wobble at 40-45 and the lug nuts were over torqued. I would advise everyone to instead visit Firestone for all your wheel and tire needs.
I scheduled an appointment for 2:00 pm to have 3 tires replaced, mounted & balanced. The counter person could not pinpoint a completion time & said they would call. At 4:30 pm I called & was told they had only one tire technician and that my vehicle was next, I asked if it would be done by closing & was told they would call. I decided to go there at 5:30 & the car had not been touched. Never got a call, guess they were keeping the car overnight. UNACCEPTABLE!!! You decide if you want to give them your business!
HORRIBLE SERVICE, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. ordered tires and had an appointment. Dropped my car off, at the three hour mark, called for an update and was told they were just now taking my car in. Drove back ten minutes before their closing time and was told they didn’t have anyone to do my tires. My car sat in their lot for four hours, no one communicated to me that there would be a delay, or just simply not done at all.
Ive bought 3 sets of tires here in the last 5 years, always very good customer service and value. Today I went in to have 2 lug nuts loosened, ~2 min job stretching it. The tatooed manager said I cant come in and need a mask. No sign on door though. Fine, got mask and returned. He rudely asked if I had an appointment for a 2 min job. Of coarse I didnt. Then he said it would be a long wait. Total jackass, zero customer service skills. I will never, ever return to this establishment
Disappointing. It all started with taking a flat tire. They fixed the flat but broke the TPMS sensor in my front passenger side. They told me it needed replacement. They charged me about 120 dollars for the flat, sensor, and relearn process. They said I should drive it so the low pressure sensor does not come back. It came back. Took it back and they tried to relearn it. At the end of the day they said that the rear passenger sensor needed replacement too and that I would have to come back another day. Went back to replace the rear passenger and charge me another 60 and told me to drive it again so the light clears. As of now the light is still on and got tired of wasting my time, money, and health (stress) by coming back. Seems like they try to guess the fix or bleed your money. I considering getting the relearn tool and tpms sensors on Amazon and do it myself.Edit: This paragraph is in response to the reply below by the business. I called and waited @ 5 minutes in the line and when the call seemed to have been transferred, they hung up or the call dropped somehow. Really tired of going back to you guys.
I supervise a fleet here in Schenectady. We use to go to Mavis to purchase all of our tires. But after 3 times I am convinced the level of incompetence and poor customer service left me no choice but to move on to a more local business with employees who have the ability to carry a conversation without going to mars. On top of their incompetence, they tried to up sale me on something totally off from what I brought the vehicle in for and still! They didn’t do what i brought it in for after 4 hours. Avoid this place like the plague. INCOMPETENCE IS MAJOR!

Even though I came in with just a tire repair I was treated very well its nice to see great service even on a tire repair. Scott and Brian even performed the repair themselves. Dropped my car off at 9:30am because I had 2 leaky tires. They told me it would be about 2 hours and they would call me. I called them 5 hours later (2:30pm) and they told me my car was next. I stopped by the shop at 3:30pm and they had not even looked at the car yet, but my car was next and they would call me. I stopped by again at 5:15pm (they close at 5pm on Sundays) and they still had not even looked at my car yet....but I was next. My response.....give me the keys! Never Again! Poorly run shop.Update: Since leaving this negative review, I have received over 500 emails from several websites that were confirming subscriptions within the last 12 hours. Mavis was the only place I have given my email address to recently and now I have to unsubscribe to over 500 websites. The employee from Mavis that did this needs to be fired immediately. I will never step foot in a Mavis Discount Tire Store again!
I was in the area and stopped to have some work done. I was treated exactly the way I would treat someone else. The manager was very polite and knowledgeable. I feel the work was done professionally and am very happy with my visit. I have a store in my area but I will travel to this one from now on. The manager Scott was on top of everything going on in this store. Couldnt ask for better service. Big 5 stars to them.

I came in, and there was a RUDE customer in front of me, just being mean to the man at the counter. After 10 minutes he finally left, and even still, D (the worker getting yelled at), talked to me politely, and made sure my car needs were met to the fullest. Couldnt have taken my car to a better place, and I will be coming here again for my car needs.
Absolutely horrible!!! I made my appointment for 11AM..I needed 4 new tires. NO ONE said they were behind...NO ONE said they were very busy. I got here at 11....its now 2:05pm....still NOT DONE! No sign anywhere of who the store manager or district manager are....And 4 people came in at the same time...no masks,no social distancing and no one said a word....nothing! Disgusted!!!
The service was great except I asked for the tires back and I didnt get them. I hope I am able to call in the morning to get them back so I can take them to the city to file a claim. I had to get new tires, balance and an all wheel alignment from hitting a pothole on Crane Street.
Do not go to any Mavis discount tire. I waited 3 1/2 hours for an oil change which I normally would have done myself but was in a hurry but that didn’t matter. Staff is obnoxious, has no idea what they’re doing and they don’t even check on their customers. I have nothing else to say. Find a local mechanic that is honest and knows what they’re doing if you’re getting anything besides new tires or an oil change. Remember! These guys work off of commission so they’re going to try to nickel and dime you!
They were amazing they help me find the most possible ways to get the job done and it was affordable the work they did was the best and the costumer service rep was nice and they come out a d explain things to you that you need to know about your car management was very understanding to any questions or problem I had
I love this place because they will negotiate on the price. I once got a $160 tire for $88. I just recently had both pads and rotors replaced on each side of the rear of my car for $200. Amazing prices!! Plus, customer service is fantastic. The employees are super friendly and respectful. Lastly, everytime Ive been there I was able to show up without an appointment and they got my car in and out right away. Hands down theyre the best!!
I went in to get 4 tires I bought mounted and balanced today. Not only did they go above and beyond to take care of me but they also were quick and very helpful! By far the best I have been to in this area hands down! FYI if you need anything larger than an 18 tire mounted this is your place. Was only one nearby that could change out 19 tires for me. Side note while I was there the manager not went out of his way for me but also another customer to get them some coffee.
Waited 5 hours to change 2 tires that I had pulled myself and when I got home, realized that they gave me someone elses tires and rims. Total incompetence.Follow up: Not sure why their labor rates are so high, customer service figures my wasted day is worth a $50 voucher that I get to spend on them. I figure that works out to $7 an hour.
I stopped by to try to replace a single tire due to a sidewall bulge and was promptly helped. He was helpful and knowledgeable about the issue, but due to the uncommon tread on my tires, did not have any in stock. He offered to order one for me but I didnt feel comfortable dodging potholes any longer, so I went elsewhere. The five stars are for a very clean and professional looking shop and waiting area and the quick, friendly, and honest service.
Went to get fours tires.while they had my tires off noticed I needed rear brakes and rotors.asked if it would take longer to get them also.assured it would take the same time 2 people would be doing the work. Sat for 5 hours 2 hours past closing I noticed something was wrong not one time did the manager or anyone Say anything to me I saw them come in with new parts.they waited until it was done to try and explain what happened.very disappointing almost a grand and to have such poor service and communication
I have compared prices over and over for competitors and always end up back at Mavis. This is a new location. It is clean and has a nice waiting room. My last visit was for flat repair covered without cost under the road hazard warranty I purchased with the tires. It was done in under 1 hour even though the service bays were all full and I did not have an appointment.
One word.. Incompetence. Arrived early this morning around 9am. They took my vehicle and identified me from previous visit. Explained I was looking for back brakes and to also check rotors.After waiting an hour I saw my car finally move inside. After what I knew was to short of a period of time my car returned to being outside.I inquired after ten minutes and my car was taken back in. As there was a miscommunication about what I wanted. Remained patientAfter another two hours! I saw car in front and someone handed me my keys. Great right! Wrong... Staff member whom appeared to be supervisor asked his subordinate did you put on the brakes? He said no... Supervisor face soured and at that time I remained patient and reiterated my request.Its been an additional hour since then and for sure will never return to this location. If I receive another miscommunication at time of check out. Ill relinquish my patience for billergenace as its the next tool in motivating clearly incompetent staff.
Stopped in to get tires for my company car..scott the manager is extremely helpful and very professional..i highly recommend you stop in for any service they offer also they have very fair Pricing.I will be stopping in on a regular basis for anything our company vehicles needThank you very much for the great experience
So, my first experience with Mavis was when I brought my car in because my indicator light went on telling me that the air in one of my tires was low. Thought I was going to need a new tire but after diagnosing it, they were able to repair it and it cost me way less than I thought when I got there! I drove away a very happy gal! Then my dealership told me I needed a new axle because of a torn axle boot! (to the tune of MANY bucks!) So I called my new friends at Mavis and asked if they did this kind of work and they did! They gave me a quote which was literally less than HALF the price my dealership would have charged and they could get me in right away!! They were able to fix the problem and save me tons of money! The staff is always so friendly and helpful and the facility is clean and attractive. (and they provide a huge tv for your enjoyment while you wait!) Cant say enough about this place! I highly recommend it and its good to know I have a place to bring my car that I can trust! Thanks, Mavis!2/9/17 Well, I cant figure out how to post a new review, so Ill just continue on here. So, today we got tons of snow! All day! Went out to start my car after work and my engine indicator light went on. Checked everything I could think of checking and decided to try to make it home. Well, the car was shaking as I was driving and I held my breath and headed to Mavis! Told them what the issue was (the nice person who greeted me could see I was nervous and was awesome at lowering my stress level a bit) and he told me theyd do a diagnostic and let me know. They took the car right in and started checking. Meanwhile, I was pacing back and forth in the waiting room! Didnt take them too long to come around the corner and tell me I had hungry mice living under the hood of my car! So hungry, in fact, that theyd chewed through some wires which is why my car was shaking! To my relief they told me they could have it fixed in an hour! Since I only live a block away from the shop (lucky me!) I told them Id walk home and work on getting my driveway cleared of all that snow and come back for the car afterward. I no sooner finished with the driveway when I got a call from them telling me the car was ready. I told them Id be right there, but as I was getting my coat on, I saw my car pulling into my driveway!! I went out to greet them thinking they were going to drive me back to the shop so I didnt have to walk....but nope! He said they were closing up early and I could just stop by tomorrow to settle the bill! Seriously??? Who does that these days??? These guys are AWESOME!! And the price was fantastic, too!! This is the third time these guys have given me above and beyond the service Id ever expect to get anywhere! Friendly! Professional! I cant say enough about Mavis! Thanks, guys! You did it again!!
If I could rate it a zero I would. Almost two hours before they took my car in, then another hour and half for two brake rotars. They weren’t busy just very lazy. All employees just moping around and very unfriendly. Was also told 120 on the phone then over 250 because of labor time. Worst garage I’ve ever been to they should be ashamed to call themselves professionals
I would not even give it 1 star. To make a long story short, i brought my car in to get the brakes repaired; they fixed them. The next day I heard a noise, redid not go away after a few days. I brought it back in, they failed to place a BOLT back on once the work was completed. They did not have the bolt available, attempted to obtain one. They advised I not drive it as it is unsafe. Provided a rental car after much headache and calls to multiple ppl to get this approved-they knew they were horrifically at fault. Next day pucked car up. Months later I went to get an inspection, was told the e-brake needed an adjustment as it was not holding. Took car to recommended shop, was told whoever worked on the brakes severed the cable for the e brake. They caused damage when they were trying to fix something. Horrible job. Staff friendly enough but that does fix cars, you need qualified, competent mechanics and this place failed tremendously multiple times. Would never recommend this place.
Totally disgusted with the way my girlfriend was treated by the manager. Your job is customer service. Try doing it. Another manager Scott took over and helped us out with actual customer service and got us on the road again. So thank you! He’s the reason for 5 stars. Keep him and keep business. And that place is severely understaffed.
I went in today because my tire was flat when I woke up. Come to find out I ran over a nail some where. They plugged my tire and I got an oil change as well. I will be returning soon to get new tires as I need them horribly bad. The manager here was so friendly and such a sweetheart. I will definitely return to this location. I did not feel taken advantage of as most women are in this type of field. Awesome job and thank you so very much!!!!
Called at 3pm and scheduled an appointment for 3:30pm for four new tires mounted and balanced. Arrived at 3:30pm there was a Jeep in the bay along with a vockswagon who was told one hour and waited 3 and a half.I counted five staff members all of which standing around on there phones. Turning away customers as they closed at 6pm. Left with my car at 6:15pm a total of 2hrs 45mins for new tires which would have taken me 30 minutes. To top it off they charged me double on the waste tire management fee. Concluding I will never return to Mavis.
AVOID AT ALL COST !!!!!Took my truck here for what I thought would be an easy tire changeCame back after my truck was done first thing I did was check my truck in the parking lot before going inside I went to step on my running boards and they completely flexed on both sides to the point I thought they were going to fall off. I asked if they jacked the truck up on my running boards. Long story short I waited to talk to the manager for an HOUR while he talked to another employee in the parking lot .they didnt do anything for me other than say I dont know nothing looks broken, They didnt even offer any sort discount. And of course them wouldnt admit they did something wrong to my truck. These are factory running boards and were solid. never had a problem till I went here. never again would I bring a vehicle here or recommend it to anyone and you shouldnt either they obviously dont care about the customers or their vehicles. If I was the owner I would fire every single person working there especially the manager. These people working here dont care and are making your business look really bad. save yourself alot of headaches and take your business elsewhere I wish I paid a little more and went to a different place.
Theres a reason why I always go across the road to Monroe Mufflers came in for inspection was told they dont do inspection ask manager to call over to another location to see if there available to fit me in he was unwilling to do so attitude was not customer friendly at his response was its too late for that now mind you they closed at 5pm and its 3:30pm.So Guess where I am now getting my inspection done accross the street at Monroe muffler.
I bought snow tires through Mavis. They told me the tires would be in that day, so I brought my car over and arranged a ride back to work. By the end of the day the tires had not come in, so I arranged a ride back over to pick up my car. They kept my spare rims so that when the tires came in they could put them on the rims and it would just be a simple tire change. When I went back to have this done, it took them two hours to get the job done. As I was checking out, the workers were mocking me and being rude after they had just wasted so much of my time. They assured me my tire pressure sensors had been recalibrated, but when I took my old tires out of the car, the pressure light came on. I had to go back to have the sensor recalibrated, a job that took them over an hour. I will not be coming back here.
Very disappointed!! I ordered tires and scheduled a week in advance. Arranged my day around the appointment, drove an hour round trip and when I showed up for my appointment,was told my tires were not in stock. No courtesy call to tell me this and they offered me no explanation or solution. I would never recommend this business.
Took my ride onto the freeway and realized that they didn’t do the alignment they up sold me . Also, it vibrated above 60 mph. Took it back, three times now, and they still haven’t fixed it properly. I’m going to take it to another Mavis for the warranty work now. Avoid this location at all costs.
Will never come back again on chrisler ave schdy. Unless there is a entirely new staff and a staff that at least acts like they care to have a job watched the manager. Sit on his phone. For 2.5 hrs. It took two hours to put on 4 new tires. Our car was the first car in the bay at 9am. The TPS light was not cleared after paying for the services rendered. Service attendant jammed the doughnut tire into trunk, he should have just asked how it goes in, I would have done it myself. Xavier repeadtedly badgered me that we needed an alignment after I told him no upwards of twenty times. Little did he know that an alignment was preformed at the dealership a week prior. Afterwards, Xavier did apologize for his badgering, although I believe Leo, the manager, told him to. We have given mavis tire our business many times. The tires are at a decent price, but that price comes with poor service.
I wish i was exaggerating when i say it took 4 and a half hours for 2 tire replacements, even when i called ahead to make sure they had the time to change mine right away. They had had about 2 customers ahead of me when i got in at 1230pm, one of the customers claimed to be there since 8 AM waiting for a alignment and oil change, and was still there when i left at 5. After about 2 hours of HGTV searing my skull, i decided to watch the workers ( i use that term lightly), work. These guys took tires off a suv in front of me, and i swear to whatever god you believe in, they checked, rechecked, and checked again, the tire pressure of these 4 tires about 18 times in the course of A HOUR AN HALF before they put them back on. I watched a different guy take off a tool from a air line, test it, take it off, put on another one, walk really fast to a tool bench, oops he forgot to test his new nifty air tool, better rush back to do that. Never did i see him use any of the tools he was testing besides a impact wrench, which when used, actually makes things happen! After checking every single inch of my car for new things they could try and bill me for, i saw my car FINALLY being pulled out and parked around 5ish. I waited by the counter for my keys so i could go home and watch some more Budget Beach Houses on hgtv (5 star show, highly recommended, think i busted through 3 seasons that day). And after waiting for somebody to help me, i was greeted by what looked to be a manager messing with paperwork or maybe the computer until the miserable dude i was dealing with ***almost 5 hours ago*** came back. Then i was treated to the possible manager rip this guy apart for a broken tool or some such, nothing to do with me, for about 10 minutes. All while im standing 2 feet away from the counter, waiting to leave. Nice touch. Got out of there, instantly noticed a high pitched squeal coming from my front tires about 1 minute of driving it. Lasted until i got another shop to check it out. Great! If youre reading this, please avoid this particulate shop like the plague.
I can tell you my car has never driven so good after upper and lower control arms and 4 new tires tires and 4 wheel alignment. My 2007 Ford Fusion had 68 thousand miles when I bought it when MAVIS did the work it had 230,000 miles on it. I escort oversized loads do slot of driving. Prices weren’t bad for the tires. Although, in the process they cracked the rim of my tire. My tire now cannot hold air in it. I went back and told them the problem... they insisted they didn’t do that and there was nothing they could do except order me a rim that I would have to pay for. I told them I know for a fact it was them who broke the rim. After I insisted they find something to seal up the crack with, they gave me bad attitudes. Also, extremely slow. Not on time. Workers like to sit on their phones rather than working.
My sister went to get a patch on her tire, it was a Sunday. They looked under her hood for a tire issue, and over inflated her tire and charged her for a tire patch, that failed 24 hours later. Went to a different place, and there was no patch found. Had to get a whole new tire, when it just needed a patch at the time. But since it wasnt fixed, had to spend more just for a tire.
On Sunday, Dec. 16th, my son drove his car to Mavis due to the brake pedal reaching the floor and the car having minimal brakes. I am not a brake and tire expert, but I was a diesel engine mechanic for quite a few years during my time in the military. I am very familiar with troubleshooting vehicles and quite efficient at it. We called prior Mavis prior to dropping it off to verify they can work on it on the same day. Told them the symptoms and I recommended it seems like the master cylinder is shot. There wasnt any brake fluid leaks from any of the tires, front pads and rotors were more than acceptable. Rear drums and shoes were also more than acceptable. The calipers seem to be working, therefore leaving only one issue, the master cylinder.After dropping the car off, they called my son within 15 minutes and said the following:1. In order to isolate the problem, we are going to have to replace pads, rotors, calipers, drums, and shoes.2. That is going to cost you $943.00+tax3. That is not guaranteed to fix the issue, therefore it may end up being more.HUH?!What kind of mechanics do you have working there?It may fix the issue?My son and I pick up the car. I refused to go in because I wouldnt have been tactful towards whomever was going to be speaking to my son.They insisted the car wasnt safe to drive, NO S###! Then they said we can have it financed through synchrony bank if there was a financial issue. My son said no, and they insisted he apply for the CC.I apologize, this is my h more than I thought I would add to this review.We took the car on Monday to Good Year (Latham), due to great past experiences. Guy named Scott says, we will take a look at it and get back to you asap. We will ensure the car will be safe for your son to drive. Two hours later, I get a call and guess what was wrong with the car? Master cylinder!!! Under $300 and the car was fixed. They also tell me, your brakes are good to go for at least six months.In closing, I will never go to Mavis ever again and I do not recommend anyone go there for anything. If you have had a good experience there, good for you, but to reiterate, I will not go to Mavis. Perhaps they should just stick to tires!
Ive been going here for a number of years for service, while it had always been done properly my visits were very unmemorable experiences. Today I visited to get some repairs and learned that they were under new management and after speaking to the new manager and the staff that was working, I would like to say that this place is changed for the better. These people are very kind and knowledgeable about their work. Will continue to get work done here.
They draw you in with cheap tire prices only to try to increase the bill with additional services and scare you into thinking if you dont do it your car will stop running. Went across the street to Dream Autos and Ralph, Aaron and Chris explained the manufacturer suggest maintenance on a schedule but they can take care of the brakes today and I can schedule the other services for a time when my fixed income allows. The car could use some fresh fluids for better performance so Ill be back to Dream Autos but you should pass on these Mavis crooks. Mavis- Its like fast food for your car...cheap prices but your stomach will regret it later.
Was at Mavis 8:45am today for rear brakes because yesterday I was told the noise I was hearing was the front brakes which were replaced...car pulled into bay around 9:30am ...Big ole Joe thinks because he is paid by the hour doesnt have to be productive...car finally pulled out of bay around 2:30 pm..I leave and notice rear brake line leaking. ( (already replaced 6 months ago) So I call and was told to come back...Big ole Joe said the line was like that when I arrived and he marked on paperwork...Manager looks at paperwork and he noted nothing...never mentioned nothing the whole time he is working on vehicle..Big Ole Joe is useless to that company..he damages vehicles and then lies about it.. Cant wait to speak with the district mgr in the morning. He needs to call every customer who was there today to get their review of their service because I was not the only one leaving unhappy!!!!!!
Here is my side.One of the stuff call me out side in the parking lot. Ask me if I am paying with cash or card. Told me if I paid with cash he can..Do the full oil change. With tire rotation..for $55 dollar but I wont get a Receipt.Now am scared cause I dont know what kind of oil the put in my car.. BE CAREFUL went u go there..
Tire extended warranty was a joke .. I purchased 4 tire with extended warranty 3 months ago .. had a flat tire came to fix it ... I Ben told that I have to replace a tire for nail flat ok I’m fine with that but told me I have to pay 79.99 plus mounting and balancing...total come up to around 106$asked them why told me that I used 70% tire depth.. make no sence that continental tire less than I drove 8000 miles .. so extended warranty was a joke that I purchased the original tire for 105$ and I’m paid around 106$ with extended warranty..I came yesterday lady told me she booked all day that I have to come next day and made a appointment for next day told me that it’s going to be few minutes now looking more than 3 hr ..I’m a regular customer Ben over 5 year ..Totally disappointed and ripped of...
I had new tires and alignment done about 3 weeks ago they couldnt even align it right after 3 times then I asked them today if they could put tires on my rims if I just brought in the rims and they said they dont know when they could get to it it only takes 10 minutes they take forever when working on something and I could go to monroe and they would have gotten me in right away for that and been out of there in 20 minutes I do not recconmend this place to anyone

WE COULD OF DIED BECAUSE OF THE CARELESSNESS OF MAVIS . NEVER GO TO MAVIS, NONE OF THEM . THEY DID MY BRAKES AND Clipers. I had my 5 year old and my 10 year old in my car and all of a sudden i hear this grinding noise i was in traffic, i tried to stop and pull over and it was very hard to. Then car wouldnt go while i stepped on the gas. We almost got i to a really bad car accident. I WILL NEVER GOTO ANY MAVIS EVER AGAIN
I literally am about to leave and i have never been so happy with the service i was given, for a car that needed an entire new break system they were more then willing to work with me on the amount i could pay vs what the amount was i actually was being charged the manager of this state st mavis eric worked with me beyond what any other managers would have been willing to so yea in a nut shell i would recommend mavis for all your break system needs ...
First of all, the prices they give you are ridiculous. I go to the mavis in latham all the time because they have great customer service as compared to these guys. Secondly the latham mavis gives honest & not outrageous prices. I wont be coming back to this mavis ever again.

2022-04-26Matt an Corey was super friendly an honest . They told me upfront that they had concerns about doin a job and got me in with another place that did work perfect. They also inspect my brakes squeal and clean an fixed it for free . While I was there I see them hafta deal with few other customer one was very rude Corey handle it professionally and fixed the issue and that lady was still rude . Another man buy set of tires have some issue he help with the cost so he could afford them these guys bend over backwards and still get bad rap they should not have to deal with that but they did professionally and proper they are good people . I definitely would not been able to keep my cool with that one lady respect 👊

2022-04-24I forgot to write a review but I had a flat due to the pot holes in Schenectady. I had called to ask if they had the tires I wanted in stocks, but they told me no but I went in to this very store on Chrisler. Amber and her manager was supppppeerrr awesome. He helped me in getting the same exact tires I wanted. After two days,the tires came in and Amber was super cool about everything. They were very fast with service as well. Thank you so much! You guys are awesome!

2022-01-25I purchased my tires from there about 2 years ago. I am trading in my Jeep and the light came on for the tires. I thought I had a bad sensor since I had filled the tires to what I thought was the correct pressure. They took my truck in with no appointment, checked the sensors, did a reset and filled them up and my tire pressure light was fixed. They didnt want any $$ for doing this for me and I thought that was great. I always have a good experience there. Thanks guys!

2022-06-18Ordered boat trailer tires on line and selected the agreed to both.When I arrived for my installation appointment, they advised they couldnt accommodate a boat ed trailer. Corporate advised my $25. deposit would be refunded in 3 to 5 business days. This hasnt happened and its 2 weeks later. Be careful when dealing with this mill.

2022-07-03It was 4oclock and they were literally about to close. Unfortunately I was someone who showed up at that time hoping someone would help me fix/plug my tire. They were nice enough to help me as they were closing...and on 4th of July weekend. They found 2 carpenter nails in my tire and was able to repair them and send me on my way in a matter of minutes. Thank you for your excellent service and taking care of me when Im sure you wanted nothing more and close up shop. Thank you!
