A great menu of traditional. Food done with a little twist. Service excellentGreat value.not cheap but you get the quality you pay for. Only suggestion. Extend the atmosphere in the little dining room into the adjoining room. Bigger room is too bright nd furnished with utilitarian banquet chairs. When making a reservation ask for the small room.It is a great place for bring a group(6-10 )people. The menu has a great variety of foods and prices all day so theres something for everyone.Call ahead ofcourse. The seafood is still the best
Just back from a lovely family dinner at Max410. We enjoyed the bacon wrapped scallops and shrimp, lobster pasta and a couple steaks. Our 7 year old twins proclaimed that their steak was even better than the ones their dad makes (a tough act to follow for sure)! Our server Christine was wonderful and the entire staff made us felt welcome. We will be back for sure!
I really enjoyed our dinner out on the deck with a nice view of the golf course. The menu was filled with so ma y good looking options that we had a hard time picking what to get. Everyone in our party enjoyed our choices. The food was all delicious and the staff was friendly. We will be back to check out the other menu options we didnt try.
It had rained before we came in. We didn’t make a reservation so although there was an open table indoors we took a table outside. Our party of 7 all had to sit in wet chairs under a tree that was dropping water all over us. They wiped down the chairs with a towel but didn’t bother to see if the chairs were actually dry. Food was good. If it weren’t for the experience I would rate the place 4 stars because the waiter was good and the scenery is nice.
The Valentines Day menu was extremely limited, but its understandable with covid and all. However, the service was seriously lacking. It took over 30 minutes just to get a drink order in, and then other 30 for the waitress to come back with them and take our orders. Another 30 or so to finally get appetizers. Nothing was offered to compensate for the very long wait. We spent a total of over 3.5 hours there. The veal was overcooked and chewy. Other than that, the food was decent. Being generous with 3 stars, since Im hoping this was just an off night for them, and well possibly try again when they have more menu options.
I don’t know what was better...the food or the customer service. I was skeptical at first by the exterior, but once I entered, it made complete sense! Very cozy and intimate. Definitely made for a night of romance. I don’t know any place in the tri-state that offers the quality of food and customer service for the price they offer. The seafood is to DIE FOR! I tip my hat off to the chef. Nonetheless, you will not be disappointed!
Mike, this is Mike Izzo. I just want to thank you for hanging in there during the pandemic. We were there twice in the last ten days and nothing has fallen off as far as quality of food and service.Scallops are always good and so is the Haddock Francois.Thank you for providing a good quality eating place in Cohoes. The food and ambience rival or exceed most places in our immediate area.Well done.
Called at 5 pm and asked if I needed to make reservations. The young lady who answered said no you done need reservations but we stop seating people at730. We showed up at 710 nd the young man said “sorry we are done seating for the night”. Never got to eat or be seated. Staff should give out correct information on the phone. Drove 35 minutes from Pottstown to be turned away. Not a happy couple.
This place has become one of my regular haunts. They launched a new menu with new kitchen staff some time ago and everything has been on point ever since. Although it is part of a private club, the restaurant and bar are open to the public. I strongly recommend everything on the menu.
I order the shrimp and scallops scampi. Cooked well, but small portion. It was so salty I could not even eat it, so the portion did not matter. We also ordered short rib dinner. Not as bad, but too salty also. I have had food from here before, and it was good, but not this time.
What the chef does here, is what makes this place a must visit. Great menu choices. From apps to entrees to desserts, everything was done perfectly. Everybody at the table enjoyed their selection. The live music was really good tonight. He was set up out on the deck and the tunes rolled into the dining room nicely. Wish I grabbed his name before we left. Menu prices were great! Glad we live close by. We will be back often.
What a lovely place, and a wonderful surprise for our first visit. Not that we expected the food to be bad-- our favorite chef down the street told us it was good-- but we didnt know about the beautiful views and comfortable atmosphere on the deck. A big plus is that they serve their full menu at lunch-- which means its great for Sunday after church! They also have a small but nice wine list, which really makes a good dinner complete. My only suggestion would be to add Sunday brunch!
Been 2 times. Both were very disappointing on the service side of it.Calamari was decent first time and hard and rubbery the second time (Friday 6-12).Ordered garden salad with dressing o the side both times, and both times the dressing came on it.Turkey Club on the second visit, the turkey was slimey.Been to Joes in Cohoes before and liked it a lot, (same owner) but Maxs was again, disappointing.
We wanted to support local businesses so my fiance called this place. She called at noon to place an order and she asked what would be a good time to pick up and they said 6PM. So we went early thinking it might be ready and we arrived at 5:45 PM and I was the 2nd person there. At 6PM 15 people ended up being there. By 6:10 it was 20 and I was still there. By 6:20 I was still there waiting with 2 other people when I was literally the 2nd person there. Im pretty sure all the people that arrived after me and left before me ordered the same thing since most of us had the same food packaging. We ordered their Friday night special with fried shrimp, fried scallops, fried crabcakes, and fries. The food was soggy and it tasted as it was sitting there for a while which it might very well have been as I got there at 5:45 and left at 6:25. They never even apologized for the wait.
I must say, in my 20 some off years of dining, this is the first time I had to walk out. To start the atmosphere needs a much needed face lift. I can see that many regulars attend here so it may not seem as a priority by management but for someone experiencing this for the first time the cigarette smell entering the lounge will get you.Secondly I recommend the patio seating, however our chair needed to be wiped of branches/leaves which wasnt a good sign as it tells me the owners only care about the golf course for patrons and not the public amenities. Now I must say the most frustrating part is the fact that we waited an hour for a club sandwich and a burger (30 min wait time max as they were not too busy). The watress visited us once within that hour and showed no urgency or apology about the long wait. Once we saw other guests exiting for the long wait also, we followed suit.Really wanted to give this place a try as the food coming out looked great and complimented with a gorgeous patio would make for a nice night but since I couldnt taste the food, well... Much needed improvements must occur first before I ever try this place again.
Irst time trying Max410 at the Van Schaick Country club. First of all, be aware that you do NOT have to be a member to enjoy their restaurant or lounge/bar. All are welcome.Overall, we had a pleasant dinner with good to very good food. For drinks Sapphire Gin martini was a bit weak; my rum and diet cola with lime slice came out very sweet; I mentioned to the waitress (perhaps they made with regular cola, or was it the type of rum?) and she said she would ask the bartender. Shortly, she came with a new drink for me to try. Still too sweet for my taste...but definitely better. The chicken wing appetizer (medium, crispy) was EXCELLENT. Not too much sauce and perfectly. made. Side salad was fresh and nicely mixed. The French Pork Chop (made with brown sugar, apples, caramelized onions) was very tasty....would definitely have it again. The Lobster and Crab Stuffed haddock was flavorful and perfectly cooked--- nice combination of stuffing also. For dessert we shared a slice of Baileys Irish Cream Cheese cake (with chocolate crust)... it was nice but not outstanding. Waitress was very nice, helpful, and efficient. The hostess, I dont know her name, with long blonde hair (worked Friday evening Mar 29), needs to learn how to smile. When she greeted us, poured our water, and later as she walked through the dining room and I smiled directly at her, she had no expression on her face. Hostesses should have welcoming attitude and facial expression... smiles help make customers come back. Definitely give Max 410 a try. We will be back.
Food was good but the place needs some touches to make it a little higher end to match the good food. A hostess station with a stand with would be nice. Feels like you walk in and have no idea where to go. Also some votives and more glass tables like the one we had by the window and just class it up.Food was good and would be worth coming back but it needs a bit of a facelift. Hope it does well.
Food was good this visit. Restaurant is part of the country club in Cohoes. Parking ok, may be difficult in the nicer weather with more people golfing. Have noticed from past experience that if its not crowded, the food is good. If it is crowded then the food is hot or miss. Can get very loud inside.
We went with another coupleand had high expectations. When eating our salads we found the complete root on some of the lettuce. This happened with 2 seperate salads. When the meal came 2 of our group had lobster tIls. The were both iver cooked. The other two of had steaks. One of our group asked for a delmonico well done. Another had prime rib rare. When the steaks came the delmonico was rare and prime rib was well done. They gaves us the salads for free. It was a bad experience all around.

2021-07-27Beautiful evening on the Max410 deck, which overlooks the golf course. Our food was delicious and our server, Julie, was friendly and helpful. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food (especially for the seafood). Highly recommended!

2021-12-09Surf & Turf at its finest.Seafood (lobsters, muscles, shrimp) always cooked to perfection and the steak is spot on.Beautiful location next to a golf course. It is lovely to sit outside and eat on a warm day. (just watch out for those acorns in the fall!)Attentive staff, very strong cocktails (just the way I like them), and perfectly cooked food.I only ever had one meal here where the steak was slightly overcooked, but it was still juicy good and they happily replaced it anyway.I look forward to coming here repeatedly in the future. This place is definitely in my top 5 restaurants in the area.

2022-04-08I didnt leave me wowd. My seafood was a tad overdone and dry. Friendly service but she never checked in after serving the dinner. Exterior and entrance needs sprucing up. The first thing you see is the gate open to the garbage area and see bags of bottle returns. My wife liked her chicken dinner.Update: (Added a star because the owner replied.) Thank you Mike Fortin. Its great to see you watching the reviews. I been to your Joes Tavern and know the quality food you turn out. I think we are heading to your Emma Jaynes next time. But Ill try Max410 again to see if things have changed. Please, please get that gate closed out in front and some sprucing up of the front and the hallway.

2022-04-10Based on all the great reviews and word of mouth from friends, we ordered takeout. Understandably, food is always better in house, however we were sadly underwhelmed. The scallops napoleon were a hit, as was the chicken Alfredo. However, the sandwiches we got were not. The shrimp po boy lists a toasted hoagie with artisan greens but it came on an untoasted roll with a leaf of bitter Romain, and the macaroni salad it came with was very dry, hard and seemed old. The turkey club came with no bacon and they forgot our Mac salad we chose with it, come to find out there was no loss there. I still want to try them again, this time in house, as there are other menu items that sound great. Not as impressed as I thought wed be, but still willing to give it a second try.

2020-07-03This wonderful, hidden local gem is located at the Van Schaick Country Club. They offer both inside and outside(porch) seating. Also, offered are both tavern and fine dining menu choices. The wait staff was friendly, knew the menu and chef and was attentive. There is a full bar with cocktail specials. I opted for a salmon dish which was cooked to perfection. Others at the table ordered sandwiches, two of which were prime rib BLTs. They were juicy and delicious but could have used a more substantial roll. I highly recommend Max410.

2021-10-23The steak I ordered was delicious and our waitress was great. The appetizer and one of the sides were burnt and the boneless wings were dry chicken tenders tossed in very little sauce. Not a total disappointment overall but with the price tag I dont think Ill be back.
