Live in Hudson valley, been to Albany a few times, always come to this place! And i get their chicken kabob platter, the chicken is so tender and juicy! Continues to impress me..Yeah prices are a bit high, but service is great, restaurant is clean, ample amount of seating, parking is easy! This place is much better than some of the other halal places in Albany which are in some sketchy areas!Go here peeps...!
The food was amazing. I got a chicken kofta wrap and grilled wings, both which I would highly recommend. I dined in and they have three sauces for the table. The hot sauce was top notch, there was a white sauce and green/pesto sauce which were also very good. Highly recommend
The food here is delightful. I always get the chicken wings with fries and the beef and lamb kofta in a wrap. They have all three sauces that are brought to the table after ordering; white, green and red. They also have great vegetarian options as well. I highly recommend Mazadar! Please go and enjoy!
It was fine, everyone was quite pleased with their food. There was a limited menu but did have several veg options too which was excellent foe the vegetarian of the group. The chicken wings were received well also. It is a fast food feel. Food came out quite quickly, luckily!
Have eaten at their location on Central Avenue and ordered delivery / pickup multiple times. The food has always been good and tastes healthy. We have normally got the vegetarian platter and the falafel one. Both are ample food for a lunch for two people on a working day. This place is very reasonable priced too and is a perfect guilt free option for days you don’t want to cook. Lot of vegetarian options too.
I noticed this restaurant when my office moved down the street. I love Mediterranean food so today my spouse and I stopped in and grabbed lunch. He absolutely loved his falafel burger. My falafel salad was so good. We also ordered a dish I forgot the name of, some type of korma, and it was incredible. We werent even able to finish our meals! I will defintely order for work lunches in the future!
We always stop by Mazadar on our way home to New York from Vermont. The food is great and the service is always friendly and accommodating. Recommend the falafel and lamb kebab platters as well as the mantu. The portions are generous and the sauces are super flavorful. Well definitely be back again!
I had the chicken kabob and my fiance had the lamb kabob. The chicken was seasoned so fantastically. And I tried a piece of the lamb it it was cooked to perfection. The rice was amazing and the baklava was some of the best I have had in awhile! You will not be disappointed when you come here. It is not too expensive too!!!
Very pleasantly surprised. I have issues with spicy-hot dishes and found lots of things to choose from. I had kabob chicken salad and asked for ranch on the side. The house white sayce was much tastier! My husband tried lamb kabob and enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere, the two toddlers ate a lot and its very clean. Young man at the counter was really polite and accommodating. The baklawah was yummy.
The food was really good! The falafels were tasty and cooked to perfection. The chicken and lamb were flavorful along with rice. The white sauce was on point. The restaurant was clean and social distancing was being maintained. The service was fast and pleasant! A must try in Albany.
Working in the area from out of town and tried this on a whim. Very glad I did and Ill probably make this a weekly stop! There was enough food for 2 meals for me!Im not familiar with Afghan food so no idea how authentic it is, nor do I care lol. It seemed the staff was maybe Bangladeshi or Pakistani vs Afghani. The food tasted like (quality) nonveg Indian food, but without the awful added sweetness every Indian restaurants sauce has (finally! Yay!). I will definitely be back! (Also if the owners own Indian restaurants in the area, get rid of that pre-made sweet sauce, it is terrible)खाना बहुत अच्छा था!
Ive been here several times and I wanted to share some photos of the food. The food is absolutely delicious. Between the Mantu, Chicken Kabon, Chicken Kofta, and the Lamb Chops I have to say theyre all equally tasty. The food is full of flavor.Definitely recommend this place.
This is a fantastic gem. The food is to die for, very fresh. As is the case with most restaurants, the price is higher than average prices a few years ago, but no more expensive than most restaurants that are serving less delicious food. Service is very very helpful and friendly too.
Just ate here for the first time today. I had Mantu for an appetizer which was delicious, and lamb kebab which was also top notch. I saw upon leaving that they say their meat is all naturally grass-fed organic halal. I will say its the best lamb Ive had in a long time, and it was very reasonably priced. The Kebab also came with delicious, flavorful rice and a salad. Vegetarian options available. I will definitely be back
The food was delicious. We ordered 2 teas but they didnt have any sugar. They had a few old and hard Splenda packets and 3 packets of sugar. The chicken platter with kabli rice, the humus, and the bread were really good! There were dirty tables but we were able to find a seat. We would definitely go back to this restaurant if we are in the neighborhood.
My mom and I came to Mazedaar yesterday and were greeted by the nicest hostess. She really gave us great service and was an absolute sweetheart! She also handled the dinner rush like a boss! And of course the food is always amazing here, we both really enjoyed everything :)
Dont overlook this place. It looks a like a chain but after a little research it doesnt seem to be one. We both got the lamb wrap and it was good. I wouldnt say it was a life changing taste of Mediterranean food but after a long day on the road it was satisfying and the staff was nice. The lamb was of a good quality.
If you ever wanted to try middle eastern food, this is the place! Chicken Kebob is melt in your mouth soft with tons of flavor. Lamb is one of the best I’ve ever had, tastes like softer cut of steak packed with flavor. They really know how to cook here. Portions are perfect. Staff is so kind and humble. Wish this place was closer to home. I been here twice and I travel from Clifton park. Must try!
Delicious and such high quality ingredients. Coming from a foodie farm kid like myself, I was thoroughly impressed. Organic and grassfed meat in a restaurant is rare but considering how delightfully seasoned everything was too... that makes Mazadar a unicorn!Prices were very fair especially in light of their high quality and larger portion sizes.Their Afghan tea and ice cream desserts were lovely too.
Not usually a huge fan of kabobs as the meat typically seems to dry, but this place got it right. Best chicken and salmon kabobs ever, and the lamb in the lamb wrap was amazing (and I’m not particularly fond of lamb so that’s saying a lot). Very friendly service, very good food, huge servings.... total win. Highly recommend!
I come here for lunch and love their falafel wrap.. Ingredients are very fresh, and falafel is packed with fresh spices, with white sauce, makes me come back for more. I have tried chicken kabobs and koftas before, and those are really tasty, but their lamb is the best. Highly recommended 👌
We love this place! Staff is a pleasure and very attentive to their customers. The food is delicious and super flavorful. The portion size is generous. We enjoyed the Kadu Borani (sweet baked pumpkin) as a starter and the Lamb Kabobs for our entrees. Adding the Kabul is a must...its soooooo good.We cant wait for our next visit. This is a must try.
Don’t go here they just like to make money off of people even though the food was raw and not appetizing nor appealing in any way. After complaining and sending them pictures of the raw meat and uncooked rice they refused to refund my money. I know Afghan food and this is not afghan at all!!!!!
Stopped here for lunch driving from Mass to NY college trip. Had a fabulous and authenic meal. Had lamb kebabs, falafel and beef and lamb kofta wrap. All amazing. Fresh spices, but not too 🔥. Place was clean and friendly. Highly recommend for a change of pace meal!!! Cheesecake was also great!.
I had such terrible service here. My order was taken way after several people that came after me and I was being completely ignored. Then in middle of taking my order the person left and didn’t come back for several minutes to help others - again that had came after me. Extremely rude
Chicken and Lamb Kabob Combo was cooked/grilled to perfection!!I wish I had more errands to run in that area to give me a chance to return more often. Mazadar must mean Tasty Food in Afghani 😉. Ive been here at least 20 x since they opened. Love it everytime. They should franchise!
Food is great but do confirm that they have the right order. I ordered two burgers at the counter and waited 30min and only got one burger. Had to wait another 20min for the burger because they forgot. By that time the first one became cold and soggy. Disappointed in their service. Food tastes amazing tho when it’s not cold
Mazadar is one of our favorite places to get food fast, without it being fast food. The chicken kebab is always flavorful and not bone dry. I especially like it in a salad, but there are several options. My wife loves the white sauce. I recently just had their chicken wings. They were so good, I never even bothered putting the sauce on them. My only complaint is that there isnt a menu option for just the wings (they come with fries). The people there are always super friendly and my go-to orders are always right.
In the top 3 of the most flavorful and perfect meals Ive ever had in the Upstate NY region. We tried several dishes, even though there were only two of us. Completely authentic, beautiful presentation, and each dish tasted very different than the previous one. Prices are extremely reasonable, the place has a polished modern look, and great Middle eastern/Mediterranean music which we know follow on Spotify. This will be one of our favorite places for sure.
Delicious and flavorful food! Loved everything! Got the filet mignon kebab and my fiancé got the lamb, both were seasoned very well! It came with rice ( so good! ) afghan naan ( fluffy yet crispy, yum!) and side salad! The white sauce has lots of dill , which I loved . And the hot sauce was not spicy to me, but I loved it anyway! The flavor was unlike any other hot sauce I’ve ever tasted! 5 out of 5 for me , would definitely recommend eating here!
OMG. If you are looking for middle eastern cuisine then you absolutely have to check out Mazadar!! I went for lunch with my vegetarian girlfriend, she ordered the veggie sampler platter and I got the house specialty Lamb chops. Everything was perfectly cooked and super delicious. Service was impeccable and the place could double as an emergency room it’s so freaking clean. #GetThere
1 star- only because I cant go below that. First, they have their menus sitting there with old price for months, they dont have the time to update those. When I asked why I was charged higher than the price shown in the menu, the guy answered very rudely. They are not willing to accept the fact that they failed to do their job, update the menu in a timely manner.Second, the food quality is getting worse day by day. They served undercooked lamb kabob, totally raw inside.
The place is my go to place. Their food is always fresh and tasty. I really recommend their lamb chops. They are my absolute favorite. The restaurant is clean and their service is amazing. I only wish the serving size were a tad bigger but other than that i love this place!
I got the chicken kabob platter. The chicken itself was great, rice was good but I wish they had kabuli pulao. A little pricey, but good quality. My main issue here is the same issue I have with other places, stingy with the sauce! We got 2 platters but only two small white sauces, and no hot sauce. Please pay more attention to that! Otherwise very good!
Wow ! I had come in today for dinner and was recommended by a friend after trying a new kabob place which opened up not to far from here... I was so BLOWN AWAY by the food here . Superb spicing of the rice and meats. The lamb chops were soo tender and juicy I have never tasted food that precise in seasonings and well cooked. The price was perfect for the amount of food which was served to me. I say this because if a person wants to eat healthy and fresh, it comes with a little bit of good spending. Clean environment. Friendly staff. Thank you for enriching Central Avenue. Hats off MAZADAR !
Absolutely the best hidden gem for a quick bite that wont break the bank and is still very light yet filling. Highly recommend the mantu and the lamb kebab or chicken kofta/kebab combo platters. Best spot for a lunch or a fast dinner where you dont want another burger. Definitely make sure to get the white sauce for SURE
I was recommended by a friend and they were right! Food was delicious and completely outstanding. Everything, I had here tasted really good. The service was excellent. Waiters were very nice and polite. The ambience is great. You should definitely try the lamb chops and the kabobs. I highly recommend this restaurant. This will be my new favorite restaurant in Colonie.
This restaurant has some amazing food, ranging from rice and kabobs to wraps to burgers and much more. I personally love the chicken kabob with rice, the rice is flavorful and the chicken is nice and juicy. They also have some good dessert options. The layout of the restaurant is very big and spacious with plenty of room for a lot of customers. This restaurant is indeed the real deal and everyone should definitely check them out and visit as groups since theres something for everyone to enjoy.
This place is amazing! They are getting better each time I’ve eaten there. They have added Quesadillas, burgers, mixed combo platters , etc. as they are always listening to their customers. They treat you right and are relatively well-priced with the portion size given. I look forward to coming back and trying new things , thank you!
This was my first time here and actually ran into a colleague from work who said he goes there weekly. I ordered the chicken and lamb combo, it was delicious. I was glad I got extra sauce, all three are flavorful.BUT I wish they served vegetable kabobs! I would have much rather had grilled veggies instead of the side salad that I didnt eat. I really hope they add veggie kabobs to the menu and as part of the combo but will be back regardless.
Delicious, fresh, authentic food! Tried this place for the 1st time today, and was highly impressed , will definitely return here when i come to Albany! I would give five stars if the price can be a tad bit lower, or portion a little bigger..Other than that EXCELLENT food!
My family and I have been coming to Mazadar since it opened. Got to say it’s getting better and better each time. The flavors are impeccable and the sauces can’t be found anywhere else. The kofta kabobs is a must when I visit. Prices are reasonable for being organic.Linda is always a great host. Learned they’ve recently added burger items to the menu; it’s going to be my next tasting adventure there.
Overall I thought this place was a good place to have lunch, but as soon as I walk in the door I was not greeted. I gave the lady 30 seconds as I was looking at the menu to say something but not a word. Every customer needs to be acknowledge all the time, thats how you keep your clientele. Great affordable prices, Ill try next time. Aug 7, 2019 11:48am
I work near the restaurant and went in for dinner as a carry out and I must say the food was packed to perfection. Gave me extra sauces (without asking for ) and the food was nice and warm when I got home. The boxes they use state that they have been made with 40% of natural minerals! Good for the environment.I ordered the chicken kabob and mantu. The mantu is a dumpling filled with organic grass fed beef and other spices. Topped with the perfect amount of lentils! I’m pleased to know that the meat Mazadar uses is all organic ! Yes all grass fed and veggie fed top meat! I’m glad we now have great food nearby my job. Welcome to the neighborhood!!!!!!!!
Yummy, amazing food and flavors. Had the chicken kabob wrap and also the lamb. (My husband and I travelled through Albany from Binghamton. He is an expert of lamb and he was blown away with the tastiness and delicious pita and nana.) Isaac, our greeter was so attentive and gave us three delicious sauces to try with our meal. Terrific job. Immaculately cleaned, bright, neat they have electronic menu displays, easy order, great prices, then sit down, meal brought over and just eat. Should be a future chain in every city. Hope u add a vegan meal to your menu like Koshari. Hope for future success for such innovators. Mazadar rocks!
Having just opened I’m excited to see how this style of food is received locally. The food has tons of vibrant flavor. Maybe the best naan I can remember, second only to Maharaja on Wolf. Love the homemade quality ingredients, Halal is a plus. It’s a locally owned place, despite the upscale and thoughtful decor, though you might not know it. Definitely going back. A lot!
I went to Mazadar for the first time cause I was told the food was great and it was absolutely amazing! But my experience was even greater because Noah gave me exceptional service. I recommend Mazadar to anyone looking to eat some awesome food and who wants to experience top shelf customer service.
Not enough quantity though nice and ample interior space. Good quality is excellent but not superior to Zaitoon and Afghan grill. Prices just a touch higher for similar food around with smaller servings so dont see them lasting too long unless they develop their ISP. Wish them luck.
Amazing delicious. Eggplant (banjan borani) so good used bread to clean every savory drip of sauce. Lamb in kabob was simply perfect. Restaurant appropriately named: tasty. A surprising and welcome find. Reasonably priced. Friendly service. Ample parking. Very recommended.
Delicious food -- falafel, wraps and wings -- made from grass-fed meat and cage-free chicken, along with some yummy chocolate cake. Order at the counter, and your food is delivered to your table. My family of seven -- five kids, two adults -- gave it thumbs up. The service is friendly. There are also quesadillas and fries; something for everyone.
The restaurant is right by my job so I love to drop by for lunch. Wait times can be a little long, but its completely worth it for the amazing food and wonderful customer service! The restaurant is small, but it makes good use of the space. I never feel crowded or stuffed in. Very clean and all around pleasant to be in. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Mazadar is the real deal. Every item I have had here has been good, I normally get the potato bolani and mantu every time I go, and theyre delicious just like my mom used to make. Their lamb kabob is unlike any lamb I have ever had before, its so tender it almost melts in the mouth. They also have firnee as a dessert, and its so rich and creamy it is amazing. Great place with a cool atmosphere and vibe. You wont be disappointed.
The best Mediterranean food I have ever tasted after the food trucks beside the Hilton in NYC.The price is really cheap when compared to the food being delivered here. The flavor and the quantity is amazingly impressive.Really good place to have lunch or dinner.Must try place. Please do and you wont be dissapointed

2022-02-15Made an online order for chicken kabob because I didn’t really know what most of the food on the menu was! The chicken had so much flavor and I paired the white sauce (tasted like tzatziki to me) with what looked like homemade hot sauce and drizzled that over the top of my meal. It was great! Definitely going back - next time I’ll be adventurous and try something more exotic!

2022-01-23I had tried this establishment when it first opened and didn’t care for it much. I was told by a friend to try it as it is under new ownership. So I figured why not. I called in for a pick up order. Ordered Volcano Burger, Philly Cheesesteak, lamb chops and chicken over rice. The order was ready when I got there so I paid and brought it home. The food was really hot and delicious. I was especially amazed at the large portion sizes. It was a very positive experience under new ownership.

2022-07-01One of the best Mediterranean food we had in Albany. Freshly made and delicious. We had the lamb kabob with rice and salad and chicken kabob with rice and salad, both were amazing! Service is fast and the staff is good. The price for that quality of food is definitely worth it.

2021-09-20We live out of state and have enjoyed other Mediterranean counter service restaurants. This one did not disappoint! The service was friendly, the food tasty, and the portions generous. They were patient with our questions since this was our first time eating here. The dining room was bright and clean. Our food was well seasoned but not spicy hot. I ordered the chicken kofta. I think if I had to do over I would order the chicken kabob, but I still very much enjoyed my meal. I tasted some of my husband’s lamb and it was amazing. Very well cooked. If we lived nearby, we would definitely come back!

2022-02-02Great food for the price ! I mean cmon, if you want garbage food for a low price then people should go somewhere else. I’m a well known customer here and staff and the food is great. All good vibes at the restaurant and no service charge fee if you dine in. I’m a HUGE foodie and came all the way from NYC just to fill my craving of quality Mediterranean food.

2022-04-11This was actually one of the best lunches Ive ever had around here. Got the lamb wrap with a side of rice. 3 sauces were given to me. I reccomend you use them all because theyre all incredible (hot, green, and white). The lamb was so tender and flavored perfectly. Also the wrap was perfectly set up in the foil, you just keep pulling the foil back as you go and theres no spills. Fresh veggies in the wrap, all nice and crunchy. Afghan tea is really nice too! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

2021-12-22This is my go to restaurant for Afghan food. My family and I have enjoyed eating at this place for some years now. Last time I was there the service wasn’t great my husband was done eating and then they brought my food. I hope that doesn’t happen again. I think they hired and changed the staff there. The white sauce was kind of watery.

2022-06-22Very nice, clean, halal assurance by staff. Food tastes excellent. However, there is no place to offer salat.
