Best Dinner decision in Caz thus far.The Beer was fresh and perfectly poured. The menu has some great Irish choices and the quality of the food for the price was absolutely astonishing. The service was quick, courteous and impressive. 5 stars isnt nearly enough in my book. We will definitely be returning. Well done McCarthys!
Ive been to this bar few times. This is a descent size Irish pub. They have a decent selection of dishes and I tried their fish and chips. Unfortunately, it wasnt the best fish and chips I have ever had but it was alright. Fries are good actually. Good choices of beer and the couple behind the bar were extremely nice. I liked it.
Thoroughly enjoyed having lunch here! The staff was very polite and fun to talk to. The food was cooked perfectly and didn’t forage you wanting more. The interior decor is classic and gives you that Irish Pub feeling everyone enjoys so much! This will be my new regular!
Outstanding establishment! Greeted with open arms by the owners in a truly authentic Irish pub. Drinks and food more than reasonably priced and the ambience makes you feel like you are in Ireland. This is truly a Irish pub and not an Irish restaurant like the other establishments that call themselves pubs. I highly recommend McCarthys Irish Pub, it is my home away from home.
Great authentic Irish bar atmosphere. Even makes a lot of NYC Irish bars seem like imposters. The food is tavern style. Nothing special but it is done right. I highly recommend the Angus burger. It has large beer selection.Owner is very friendly. The play all the traditional sporting events but it also one of the most soccer/rugby friendly sports bars you find the Syracuse area.Surround for sports and an additional TV would be a nice bonus....
First time at McCarthys pub. Atmosphere was excellent. Drinks were great. Food was average. The fish I ordered was bland and no tartar sauce or lemon were offered. Noted customers jacket was on floor. Waitresses walked by three times without offering to pick it up. Another person sitting nearby picked it up. Overall music was great, atmosphere great.
Great pub atmosphere, very well decorated, decent beer selection (Guinness is always a great choice)Friendly wait staff. The food is better than your average irish pub, and the prices are great. I recommend the Beef and Blue.A lot of bars have come and gone at this spot. I hope this one stays.@Brad French, that sounds like a frustrating experience. I recommend always calling ahead if youre traveling for late night drinks.Everyone else - dont worry about an Irish Pub review from someone with the last name French. Try this place!:p
Weve been a couple of times. Cozy little pub in a great location in the Village of Cazenovia. Both times we went, the food was great and so were the servers! Everyone there really seemed to be enjoying themselves. However, any time we went to the bar to order drinks, the bartender was very dismissive of us (at one time, completely ignored my husband for several minutes as he stood there awkwardly while the bartender was chatting with about four regulars. This could have been forgiven if it had been really busy, but it definitely wasnt.) The first time we chalked up to an off night, the second to rudeness. It made us feel unwelcome, so we wont be back.
Nice place, a bit small. Food was great, waitress was a bit snippy. She tried taking our order with her to get another tables order instead of putting it in first. When called out on it, she got an attitude instead of apologizing for the oversight. Having worked 5 star dining I wasnt thrilled with her.
I’ve passed this place numerous times and finally decided to give it a go for take-out thanks to COVID-19. My husband and I both had the wicked beef sandwich and fries. The shaved beef was good, the au jus was spot on (not overly salty) and horseradish sauce, while mild, was very flavorful. Great food, decent price. Can’t wait to go back after COVID and eat there and enjoy a beer!
Was excited for an Irish pub that was touted in the paper to have some great authentic Irish food. Not the case here. Odd menu, atmosphere was mixed and not what I would expect of an Irish pub. Food was ok. Overall I was a little disappointed. Not sure that I will go again.
Friendly helpful staff great delicious food wonderful drinking wonderful atmosphere perfect for the family young and old. If you are having dinner with someone elderly or who has difficulty walking stairs, the bathrooms may be an issue as they are located down a flight of narrow stairs, both mens room and ladies room.
I was a guest. I Absolutely love the place, love the beer, love love Love the food. The worst, worst, worst help Ive about ever had. Unhelpful, unpleasant, acted put out at every request ( which we shouldnt have had to make) and I swear, our second request for water (with our beers) was filled with toilet water. We were afraid to make any other requests.
Last winter, I visited Side Hill Farms in Manlius, the locally sourced grocery store with the butcher shop sure to please any carnivore.I overheard a family and entourage talking with the butcher about an Irish Pub planned for opening in a few months.I eavesdropped as the people talked food and made a mental note to visit the public house upon visiting Caz for the first time.My eyes could not believe the authenticity of the house. The floors might have been sanded, but the old wood looked worn out by a boots of a century of Irish rovers. The walls had been painted to Irish colors and adorned with banners and momentos that usually take a pub a decade to accumulate. The family of McCarthys must have collected items for years, dreaming of the decor. And as luck wuld have it, the Syracuse Irish Session filled a corner with harps and pennywhistles and violins. One can open an Irish Pub without a session, and yet a session defines the fullest flowering of a Celtic House. And McCarthys raised a session before a year of operation had passed them by.Although space had not been planned for a stage, the session musicians had driven all the way from Central Square and Elbridge. The leaders nodded permission to take pictures. And on the way out, the two ladies gave me instructions with a little Irish love on their proper posting. The session sat in a bit too much darkness and my camera compensated by keeping open the shutter too long, blurring the fingers on the harp strings and the violinists ministrations as he bowed a jig.The slow shutter click made me sure the camera had malfunctioned. In hind sight, I should have asked the crew to pose in front of the handsome facade, where the Irish tricolor waved in the breeze of a spring evening.Sadly, I had to await my ride share out at the nearby park because the pub still awaited a proper bench out front.Maybe an outdoor cafe awaits approval by the city council? The only test that this Irish Pub failed?I didnt meet a member of the McCarthy clan within ten minutes of my arrival.Nor during any point in my visit, but the staff greeted me as would lasses and lads on the Emerald Isle.

2021-10-12Irish fare as it was intended, including cashel and bleu! About ten beers on tap, and others bottled. Live music albeit mediocre. Attentive waitstaff. Friendly local crowd. Fair prices and historical décor. Bathrooms clean and parking streetside. Free and fast wi-fi.

2022-01-12This is a very cool place to hang out, drink some good beer & listen to great music. They have a little stage with great people playing live music there. The service was great and the food came out quick even on a busy night and was delicious. If your looking for a cool pub to hang out with friends I definitely recommend!

2018-12-12A good place to stop for drinks or food, McCarthy’s Irish Pub is located right in the downtown Cazenovia area. They serve food and drinks so it’s a cool place to satisfy your cravings for pub food, beer, and cocktails.I visited here with my wife one evening. We had already been exploring some of the sights and sounds in the Cazenovia area but we weren’t ready to slow down just yet. We checked our apps and discovered McCarthy’s Irish Pub, only about 2 miles from our hotel.McCarthy’s Irish Pub has an Irish theme, of course, so it is loaded with references to Ireland, the color green, and associated items/ideas. They serve a good number of Irish beers, but they also serve a good number of craft beers, many of them brewed in New York. I liked this, because it meant I could continue to sample different local beer. For entertainment, McCarthy’s Irish Pub has a jukebox and features live music on certain weekend days. I added several dollars to the jukebox when I was there and it added much to the experience. One of the issues I have with McCarthy’s Irish Pub, however, is its use of stools for seating, at the tables. Stools are not good for extended seating and I personally don’t like using stools when I eat. Hopefully, the management will change this in the future.Cazenovia is a small town located just a short drive south of Syracuse. It has limited options for entertainment and late night fun, but McCarthy’s Irish Pub is worth a visit for these purposes.
