If you dont expect too much from the HIMYM experience, it is a really nice Irish Pub. We especially liked the Appetizer Combo (see photo). When looking at the pictures I was scared that the pub and the food would be a little bit unhygienic. In fact it was really clean and the food was good! As mentioned, the HIMYM experience was a bit disappointing since the pub doesnt have a lot in common with MacLaurens.
Second time coming here when visiting New York. First time all we had were drinks, they are extremely strong so they arent stingy with alcohol! Second time we got appetizers and food. We really enjoyed our nachos, and club sandwich we got. We will come back here every time we visit New York. Love the vibe of the pub and the staff is incredibly friendly.only issue we had was an automatic %20 tip being added without our knowledge. They really should let their customers know this before just adding it.
Why is it with some places that the servers are really friendly when you arrive and then you struggle to get their attention again even if it’s not busy? The food was edible. The bar is nice. But please try not to just hang around gossiping with colleagues at the end of the bar rather than doing the job. Particularly when when a kids meal is 15 dollars plus tax and service. And the advertised ice cream is never offered because we can never get any attention. The insult is the 20 percent service automatically. I’d like a say in what I think of the service I’m paying for. And certainly don’t leave the option to add even more service. There are a lot of people who will fall for that, particularly those who don’t count English as their first language. Made me pretty sad.
We came to this bar because of HIMYM. We can’t really say that it resembles maclaren’s from the show except for the pictures on the wall. We actually felt the staff was a little rude. Be aware that there is a 20% gratuity included in your bill. Plus if you pay by credit card they are adding another extra 3.5% of your bill as a credit card surcharge fee which we have never experienced before.I am giving 2 stars because the food was good (only had nachos). But overall I will not go there again.
We went because we were big fans of HIMYM and we weren’t disappointed, it was a fun experience. I’m surprised to read bad reviews of the food, we liked everything, maybe it depends on the choice. We had a really good shepherds pie, a Reuben sandwich, potato skins, and the kids had a burger and a mini shepherds pie (it’s one of the few places in NYC where we found children’s menu). I give 4 stars and not 5 because even it we liked it was expensive for a pub, and the cocktails had funny names but were just ok.
Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Little too expensive. Perfect for HIMYM fans but thats all. Take care -> they add the tip automatically to the bill. We did not check that, paid by credit card and added the tip in cash additionally. Unfortunately they just took the money = twice the tip :-(
We were really excited and eagerly looking forward to attending that famous place today around 6:00pm!Unfortunately we receive as a mexican family a kind of racism treatment more than once by the the bartender o whoever he was.. we leave the place … don’t go there ever!
Man does this place serve weak drinks. Call them HIMYM names all you want guys, they still need to pack a punch. Overpriced food. Sliders were insipid. Wings were redeeming but at $2 a wing there are much better places for wings and beer in Manhattan. Steak was decent and hence 2 stars.
Drinks 3/5Atmosphere 2/5Location 5/5Staff 2/5This is suppose to be the bar that inspired “how I met your mother” and as long as they can hold on to that they will get by with being a so-so bar in a city where the standard is far higher.Mold was the only thing I could think after our trip here. Usually a bit of mold is not to bad and understandable, but the restrooms ceiling looked like it might fall apart due to it.The drinks themselves were also nothing too memorable and had a surprisingly low selection for such a big bar.It could have been that the staff seemed preoccupied but we did not feel very welcome and it took a bit to get anything like water or napkins.Overall not a place I could ever recommend.
Our friend group is huge HIMYM fans so naturally this was on the top of our list of places to visit on our weekend trip to NYC. Loved the cozy atmosphere and all of the HIMYM decorations on the wall, however food and drinks were all just ok. We definitely felt it to be overpriced for the quality. We each got a different HIMYM themed cocktail and none of them were very balanced. The potato skins were probably the best thing we tried, but wouldn’t recommend the sliders as they are served plain with no sort of toppings or anything.
Wouldn’t go back. The service was horrible, she treated us so poorly and would make faces when we were ordering. And even tho she did an awful job as a server she got a good tip because the 20% was already included in the check even tho she didn’t deserve it. Food was more expensive than I thought for ir just being a simple burger, and just for adding a leaf of lettuce they charged me $3.
This is really cool if you watch “How I Met Your Mother”. They have a lot of pictures from the show on the wall and the food is pretty good. They have some good beers. It is not from the set. This place inspired the bar used in the show. It can be a little cramped but it was really cool to see and be there.
Loved all the how I met your mother references around the restaurant. Great atmosphere and a very good effort on an English / Irish traditional pub. Food was delicious and very substantial. Good prices for nyc as well. We were seated quickly but unfortunately in front of an entrance way which meant cold breeze and people constantly touching / moving past us. Enjoyed the nz white wine too.
This bar is cozy and the staff is friendly. The food is really tasty and on Mondays they serve the How I Met Your Mother Monday, which means meals inspired on the show, so if youre a big fan then you should stop by to check out the place. I strongly recommend the pineapple incident drink and also the best burger of New York...so yummy!
I went there with a friend, we set at the bar and we ordered a beer and a cola. After sometime, the bartender gave us the check and asked us to leave. I thought this was very rude! Just because we didnt ordered a lot of things we were kicked out =PAlso, the womans bathroom tap was leaking
I’ve been to this pub twice now. My husband and I went because HIMYM is our favorite show and we had to check it out. However, we absolutely loved the atmosphere and plan on coming back. The drinks are wonderful and the ambience of the place is really nice. Great place to have drinks or even a fun meal with friends.
Unfortunately, the two of us were denied a request to change a table (there was a football match and it was uncomfortable to sit under the TV screen where everyone was watching), because “It is for 4 seats and there are two of you”, despite the fact that there were many free tables for 4. So we decided to leave.
Big fan of HIMYM, checked out this place last week while visiting NYC. Big disappointment..... We ordered HIMYM themed drinks and they were absolutely disgusting, both looked the same even though they were different drinks. They almost tasted like weed, they took about 40 minutes to get our order to begin with..... (It wasn’t busy at all) We got 2 drinks and mozzarella sticks (worst mozzarella stick I have ever had) and then they never came back to get food orders after about 1.5-2 hours we asked for the check and left. We ended up at McHale’s pub and had their fish and chips and it was amazing. We wanted to love this place but it was a disappointment..... If you are looking for a good Irish pub to eat at and visit while in Manhattan got to McHale’s on 51st st - You won’t regret it!
Whenever we are in the neighborhood we have to stop into McGees Pub.We were able to be seated immediately in a booth, the pub was busy as usual but that doesnt seem to slow down the servers here. I prefer the Sheppards pie here, it is the best I have had yet.The Sheppards pie consists of fresh ground beef, carrots and peas covered in a wonderful homemade grave, completely surrounded by fresh mashed potatoes. It is a very flavorful and filling meal.Cheers!
Cute little pub with tributes to How I Met Your Mother, whose infamous McClarens is inspired by. The pub itself is lovely, if youre going in expecting it to look like McClarens then unfortunately youll be disappointed because it doesnt look like it very much. Having said that, they have drawings and photos on the wall of the cast and even sell fan t-shirts and also have a HIMYM cocktail menu. On Mondays they do a HIMYM themed menu which sounds cool - unfortunately we didnt go that day but we had a great lunch all the same.
Little bit disappointed in this bar. First of all - price! Very overpriced because of How I met your mother theme. Like beer was almost same price as in the roof top bar. Staff was ok but not very friendly. Never smiling at all. There are loads of other nice bars around, so that one might be skipped.
We loved this place. We were luck to find it. It seems to be the place which has expired How I Met Your Mother. We were thrilled to find that out and to be there! I had a Philly sandwich that was outstanding. Beer was good too. There were lots of people. Great atmosphere. Cant wait to get back! Ive got a theme Tshirt for my teenager son, that was LEGEN, wait for it, DARY! ;)
Very popular bar with the locals. The specialty drinks were really good but pretty pricey. New York for you.Bar is well known and the locals love it! Gets pretty crowded and there is an upstairs but still limited seating. Floors are squeaky and uneven. Needs an overhaul.Bartenders were friendly and very attentive to their guest.
We came here for a How I met your mother destination. It was really fun, it looks nothing like the show but they have lots of memorabilia from the show, t shirts to buy, and drinks inspired by the show. It is a typical Irish bar so it does well with lots of people that do not even know about the show. It has food downstairs drinks upstairs. Really cool place they accept credit and debit cards.
Came here for lunch after msg tour, the food was quite nice and portion sizes were very large. I also tried the the house beer McGees ale and was quite impressed with how good it was. For HIMYM fans They have captured the vibe of mclarens really well so I would happily recommend this bar.
Familiar with mc larens bar from How I Met Your Mother tv series? Actually it’s an irish pub near time square. And the real name is mcgee’s bar. Although the series wasn’t shoot in this but, they have the corner like in the movie. They have HIMYM night every monday, and they play the series. Even better, they have the HIMYM menu from the series, like The Robin’s cocktail. How cool is that
Great place if you are looking for a pub to have a beer on your own. The bartender is great, they serve irish dishes but you can find hot wings. They have options. And last but not least is the pub were the writers of the serie How I Met Your Mother went to write and get inspiration after their 9-5 work, before they were famous. If you’ve seen the serie you will feel like you are in the serie. Not the exact same place that the series shows, since for recording purposes they had to add ac few tables.
We started with drinks and they had a wide selection with a fun themed menu of drinks inspired by How I Met Your Mother. They were delicious and very fairly priced for cocktails in Manhattan. Next we all ordered food and unanimously agreed that it’s been the best food we’ve had so far. The Irish classics, Shepherd’s Pie and Bangers and Mash were fantastic. My wife got the Chicken Pot Pie which was great as well. The Fish and Chips were good and the Sirloin steak was absolutely fantastic. You’ll have some of the best mashed potatoes you’ve ever tasted here. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some great, homemade comfort food. Our empty plates should tell the story.
I came here intending to have dinner and was sorely disappointed. I was directed to the bar where the bartender looked extremely annoyed by anything I did. Noodles in the chicken soup were completely overcooked and the mac and cheese was just bland, had to pay 30 bucks too. I love the show but this left a very bad taste of mouth, literally.
I visited since Im a HIMYM fan and knew they creators drew inspiration from this pub. Theres pictures of the actors around the place and drinks named after ones from the series. Thats about it. The food is okay, but I honestly felt there was nothing special about the place...
Kinda stumbled into this place, the ambiance is great, seriously just an all around good vibe. Only drawback right this moment is you have to get food to get a drink... not just here but all of NYC. Worth it though, got the appetizer sampler, good wings, fingers, skins and sticks.
Waiter did not come back with 19.5 dollars of change, that we assume was pocketed. We were told that there was no change, and eventually had to leave without it.Anpther waiter did not seem to care when we told him. His reoly was that we had to leave the table since he had customers waiting... they also added credit surcharge even though we paid in cash (5usd).Food was bad, service was bad. Waiter brought food we did not order. Drinks were mediocre at best. We were told to change tables after being seated, and were told to go upstairs, then back downstairs(not a big issue, but the staff was clearly disorganized and it was a mess)
We are HUGE How I Met Your Mother fans. The memorabilia was awesome, but that’s where the awesomeness ended. The server was ok, but the food was terrible. I ordered the Irish Chicken Curry. The chicken was way over cooked and gamy as old reheated chicken gets. The veggies were hard and crunchy, again, like they were reheated and old. I ordered The Pineapple Incident as my drink. The first one was good. The second one I ordered tasted nothing like the first one. Very disappointed. My wife and kids had the same experience with their food and drinks. For being a HIMYM bar, they didn’t even have any merchandise for sale. Stay away from the bathrooms. Absolutely atrocious. We won’t be back. I hope we don’t get sick.
I had a huge expectations from this bar after being fan of HIMYM but it takes something to realize that after all its a BAR which has to be commercialized for its purpose while keeping its typical bar decorum. Full stars to ambience but service is sheer low and food is not up to mark as well.
Disappointed. We came here because of the inspiration of HIMYM but its as if this fame has gone to their heads and the bar doesnt care about its customers. We arrived and were told there is a short wait, so we left our names with the front desk and got a drink. 30minutes later, We had enough so I went back to the front desk and they had completely forgotten about us and let other people sit down before us. We also ventured to the other levels to find a lot of empty tables and got told to leave. This place is too big for its boots
The bar that inspired McClarens Pub in HIMYM. They make an effort to recreate as good as possible the show. You can take pictures with the yellow umbrella and on Mondays you can have HIMYM specials. Cocktails are named after the show. Food is good. Burgers are pretty good. Fries are ok. Service is fluctuant. Went once and was good. Went the second time and it was not good.
HIMYM .. ALL I HAVE TO SAY!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE ! It was sooo cute!! Pictures all over of the cast, there own menu, they even have a life size cut out which was soooo awesome lol. I will FOR SURE be going back and yes I bought the shirt, and had a Robin sparkles ( which was good and would recommend!)
Overpriced, bad service, slow to get anything. The servers are doing their best, but this place needs more staff, or needs to take on less tables at a time. We ordered the sliders. They were $18, and the meat portion was so small. It was like little chicken nuggets on a bun. They also came with nothing on them, just meat and bread. I assume it is so expensive because it is close to time square?
Unfortunately I am going rate this place 2 stars because of the service. The place was a nice Irish pub and well known for the show How I Met Your Mother and food was delicious, I got a yummy veggie burger with a super crunchy and good side of fries. However I got pretty disappointed by the 20% tips added to my bill, I know how it works cause I worked in the same field and I understand this is the policy of Manhattan, but it s not legally mandatory if Im not wrong.I therefore asked my waitress (who continued to be nice with me anyways even if upset about my complain) why and she said this was how they do there otherwise they wont make money....that s where I really got upset...sounds just hilarious. However the thing is...when you include the gratuity to the check, you AT LEAST should tell your costumer that, otherwise I can only understand you want to cheat and get overpaid.Just hope theyll take more attention to this detail, cause service in general, food and prices were really good.
I was really looking forward to this, but as a really big fan I was a bit disappointed to say the least. How I met your mother Monday wasn’t very special. Except for the special menu, some (not much) merchandise and some pictures of the cast on the wall, there was nothing. The food tasted okay, but we both got sick afterwards. That really ruined our last evening of the trip. The pub is really nice. Good vibes. The lady that was helping us wasn’t very friendly to us. Maybe next time I’ll just come in for a drink.
McGees pub is a pretty large bar that doesnt get as packed as you would think. It has people in it always, but with the amount of room, the good service and pretty low prices, this should be a feeding frenzy for college kids and partiers on weekends. Their food is pretty good, however their menu is pretty average. Beverage are priced adequately so its nice to go in for a bit. This is a good place to start or end the night at.
Went here because of how I met your mother. Only was on the first floor. I definitely could see where the writers got inspired by this bar for mclarens. Service was good. I got curly fries and an ipa. Fast service. Food was what you’d expect curly fries to taste like. Definitely liked this place strictly for the show himym but wouldn’t stop by otherwise! Cheers
This Irish pub was our first stop after checking in to nearby hotel. Extremely appealing atmosphere, predictable pub food menu, but excellent quality with mammoth portions. Lovely real fire was a nice warming touch on a Dec day. We visited here 3 times in our 3 days in NY, which I spose speaks for itself. We had dinner, & breakfast & cocktails. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Def recommend to tourists & locals alike.
First time here. Nothing to write home about. Food was fair but for NYC I can think of better Irish pubs to go to. Staff was very prompt and polite. (three star review at this time.)June 10, 2022: Decided to give the place a second try to see if anything had changed. It did...but for the worse. I should have realized this was not a good move when I walked in on a Friday at 6pm and there were only four table with people. (I was on the main floor in the bar area). I was seated promptly but then sat their for fifteen minutes waiting for a server. There were three of them gathered at the far end of the bar having a great conversation with each other. I also noticed NONE of them ever went to check on the other four tables with guests. After fifteen minutes, I got up and walked the entire length of the restaurant - past the servers still involved in their conversation - as if I was totally invisible. I walked out with anyone even saying Have a nice evening. This place will not get another chance. (changed my former three star review to a one star review.)
Where to start...Joy was our bartender and she is LOVELY. The Shepherds Pie is the best weve had outside of Ireland (and weve had a lot). And somehow, for a place a few blocks off Central Park and in the middle of touristville, this feels like your local watering hole. Just a wonderfully surprising and delightful stop. We will be back on our short trip!
Had a feeling for some Irish family vibe (Irish mothers milk as they say)....stout, YUM!!!! And a shot tho left that to my husband. Focused on the stout! Not the friendliest staff nor attentive. Felt it was more self-serve (aka hey - I need something) or if at the bar and you had to be engaging or adorable to get service. Not the Irish service I know of.... but what the heck, its NYC not County Cork!
My wife and I love the HIMYM series, we went yesterday and at first it was nice, we were served by a very nice girl ... we ordered food and a couple of beers, another waiter came over and asked us if we wanted another beer, I ordered one more for me. We hadnt finished lunch yet, and we were planning to have a few more beers and suddenly without saying anything the waiter put the bill in front of us, I told him we still hadnt asked for the check and we ordered a couple more beers while we finished lunch . It was quite uncomfortable, I suppose it is because we are Latin because I was watching and we were the only ones to whom he gave the check without being asked.
Happy we visited this place right now, it was very laid-back with a good ambiance. I can imagine it gets busier with more tourists around. The waitress misheard us when we she asked if we wanted another beer and we said nah were good. So, we were surprised that 5 minutes later, she brought us a third beer which we actually didnt order. We were having a good time though, and decided to just take that third beer enjoy the bar a bit longer! ;-)
My Husband and I were beyond excited to come to McGees as we are HUGE fans of How I Met Your Mother so we came for their Monday theme day for the show. Food was beyond disappointing. He ordered the Mosby Jerk Wrap and I had the Best Burger. They forgot to give me the onion rings that came with it. They gave ended up getting me my onion rings. Both fries and Rings have no flavor. My burger wasnt cooked to the proper temp. His wrap was beyond over seasoned with jerk seasoning to the point of not being able to eat it. We could barely eat our food. The service was subpar at best. I do NOT recommend coming here at least on their Monday night theme night.
Casual place to hang out, good beer selection. Service is good when there are moderate crowds and almost non-existent if the place is packed. But definitely a good place to grab a drink. They milk the How I Met Your Mother connection (obviously). Its cool knowing this was the inspiration behind McLarens pub. On another note, dont hold your breath because it looks nothing like the bar in HIMYM. The first floor has some autographed pictures of the cast. HIMYM merchandise is available too.
Loved the how I met your mother themed decor, and I am a HUGE fan of the show. Go here with tempered expectations because, for the most part, this is a regular Irish pub with those pictures on the wall. Browse through the HIMYM themed cocktails but order them with low expectations (they’re basically highballs). Amazing French fries.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME GOING HEREFirst off, 1 star is too much for this pub.I didnt have much expectation from this place in the first place. They just use HIMYM to increase their prices. But ...I ordered a burger for almost $20, and when the burger arrived I was shocked. I have never seen a worse burger than that in any restaurants I have been to. Not only it was small, but the bread seemed old and the taste was horrible. Id rather have McDonalds burger than this. At least they add more ingredients and toppings. The worse part happened when they brought the receipt, they had already added the maximum tip value for themselves. I wouldnt mind to pay the same amount, but if the restaurant adds it then its not tip anymore, but its a fee.Again, this place is not worth going to. They disrespect their customers and HIMYM fans with their serving methods. Its probably one of the worst pubs/eating places I have ever been to, and I have been to many places and countries. No wonder why it was almost empty on a Saturday evening in NYC...
Experienced the worst bartender of my life here. He was so rude and mean to all the customers (all 5 of them). This bar was empty on a Saturday night and I quickly learned why when the bar tender approached us and said “you need to buy another drink or get out.” We had only been there for a short time and had ordered three drinks. He was also inappropriate with female customers, in a murdery uncomfortable type of way. Steer clear!
Little pricey for an Irish pub, but it is Manhattan and we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Food was terrific and drink selection is extensive. I got a McGee’s beer which is basically a lighter Guinness. My SO got a cosmo and one of those HIMYM drinks. Great for fans of the show. I’d been there once before and we stopped by after a day at the MOMA before we headed back down. Definitely will be back and glad it’s still kicking!
What a highlight of our afternoon! The 4 of of us went to a nearby regular bar of ours when we visit NYC, but it was closed (hopefully just temp.) so we saw McGees and decided to give it a go. So glad we did, we had a blast. 1) we got to see Italy beat Austria 2) we had a blast drinking and doing our scratchers over several drinks and mostly 3) Alison & Joy! They were so fun & friendly THIS is our new fave drinking spot in Midtown. Go! Whats the craic!
Great place, good food. They were very busy, so service was a little slow. But we were seated quickly even with a bigger party. Atmosphere was nice and homey. It was fun to see all the references to How I Met Your Mother. We had a great time picking a drink from the cocktail menu.
I was very interested in learning the bar was the inspiration behind that featured in How I Met Your Mother. The ambience is pleasant enough, as was the food. But what would draw me back there in future will be the people. The staff were super friendly from the moment we walked in the door until the moment we walked out. The service was impeccable and I really felt that these people enjoyed what they were doing. My one and only complaint was that my Reuben was so incredibly small as compared to what I have experienced in other places. But it was also incredibly delicious. All in all, an excellent place in my opinion. 😊
Becareful! A TOURIST TRAP!!!HIMYM cocktails was really really bad! Tasted like juice with a bit of alcohol. They are adding 3.5% fee for credit card payment, and they are charging 18% service fee automatically! The only thing that was related to HIMYM is the pictures on the wall.
Very disappointed, I am a huge fan of How I meet your mother but the service here was just Gross, there was no front door person, we grabbed a empty table and nobody approached to us, when I went to talk one of the waitresses she told me I had to go upstairs without explaining, like just repeating and not listening, saying you can go upstairs, no explanation why, then same thing upstairs nobody goes to your table, they dont have updated their Menu, so they brought us something we didnt order in replacement, in addition when we asked for the right thing that we ordered, the waiter kicked one of the chairs on the way back, so gross
The staff is very very rude. They take the orders in a very rude way. Anytime we got the last drop of our drinks they immediately came and ask if we wanted another food or drink or the bill. The pub is not the real place where how i met your mother took place. The series used the bar as an inspiration, thats what the staff said. They also charge 20% tip without showing any gratitude. Dont go, the place really sucks.
Fun, great cocktails ...and PACKED. The How I Met Your Mother theme is well done with posters, pictures and themed drinks. We got food at the bar. The bartender was attentive and efficient. I recommend it, though you either want to go at an off peak time or be prepared to wait!
The atmosphere was great. I went with a group of co-workers. The waitress was awesome and especially made our night with her lilting Irish accent. However, I ordered a turkey club and, despite the menu stating that mayo came on the sandwich, it did not. It was the dryest club sandwich Ive ever had. At least the fries were good and the beer was wet. As for my friends, they all ordered such things a shepherds pies or pot pies and were happy with their food.
Been there twice now - very large, multiple floors, no trouble getting seated. Very reasonably priced food for the city, and the $6 drafts during happy hour were a nice surprise. I fully expected to pay upwards of $9 for a beer. Really cool atmosphere - finding an easy place to eat in the city can be really stressful, this place is stress free.
Mediocre at best. Dont come here expecting anything wow. The host, waitress, and barman were all very rude. The barman did not even say hello....it was early eve and a quiet night. In all fairness, I did not try the food, so I cant comment on that. I left and had dinner around the corner. @Owner... Being friendly is not a difficult skill...try and teach your staff please.I hope the rest of you have a better experience than I had.
Best Irish pub (outside of the UK) Ive ever been to! Amazing service, every waitor was incredibly kind and didnt rest until we had a seat even though we were late, the food is PHENOMENAL (best jacket potato Ive had in years) and arrived so much faster than I hoped. Would absolutely recommend on a winters evening for good hearty food with wonderful service in a very lovely building. (You can also take photos to flex on your friends that you went to the bar in How I Met Your Mother and they didnt, which is the really important bit)
Terrible experience. Our friend was in town and wanted to check it out since shes a himym fan.The waiter came by less than 30 seconds after we were seated and was irritated that we didnt know what we wanted to drink yet. We asked to see the drink menu and he shoved it in our face and stomped away. The food tastes like your average frozen reheated bar food. We didnt take long to eat and only had one drink because the prices arent great, but after we paid, we sat in the booth for a few minutes because our friend was looking up the place she wanted to go next. I cant emphasize how little time we sat there. It was probably less than three minutes. The waiter came by to pick up the check and tell us we had 5 minutes before they were going to kick us out of the booth. I couldnt believe it. We were probably in the building about 30 minutes - at the most. Horrible service for below average food and bad drink prices. Were locals, and will never recommend to our visiting friends again.
The service here was great however, I can’t say the same about my meal. My friends enjoyed their food but I came here looking for chicken wings and when I found out they were almost $3 a wing, I decided to pass and get the buffalo chicken sliders. When these came out, it was literally chicken slapped on a bun. No dressing, no lettuce, no nothing. $14 for chicken on a bun. I understand New York is pricey and all but if you’re going to charge this much, at least make it semi-worth it. I love How I Met Your Mother but I do not love the bar that inspired McLarens. In reply to the owners response, we were told by our server it was only 5 wings, not 8. Perhaps it would be more beneficial if the entire team of employees knew exactly what was on the menu to educate future customers coming in to prevent reviews like this.

2022-02-11I was staying across the street from McGee’s on a recent trip to Manhattan. I kept admiring the pub from afar and thinking to myself that it looked like the quintessential Irish pub. My family needed takeout for an early dinner for the kids, and I asked the front desk who they recommended. They said they ordered takeout from McGee’s all the time. We checked out the menu and there was something to make everyone happy, even the pickiest of children. We called, ordered, and they had the food ready in fifteen minutes…just as promised. The inside of the pub was just as inviting as the outside and I wish I had more time in the city! Oh, how I wanted to come back in for a drink later! And, yes, they do serve wine because I did ask. The staff was very friendly and helpful and even gave me directions to the nearest store. At any rate, my family ordered the Mac ‘n Cheese, Shepherd’s Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, Chef Salad, and Bangers ‘n Mash. No one was disappointed, kid or adult. I can’t wait to get back there for a night out so that I can have that drink and a sit down meal. Sláinte!

2022-04-04See a lot of mixed reviews here, but I had a great experience . A bit on the expensive side for an Irish pub, but I had the friendliest server and the best damn hamburger I have eaten in a while! I mean, top five! Didnt know this.... but this bar was apparently THE bar on How I Met Your Mother. Didnt care for the show, but it was cool to learn that!

2022-06-09Very strong Mexican vibe which we loved, the music was all Latin and we had a great time there. Nacho plate was huge and delicious, and the drink we ordered (it was for 2) was awesome

2022-02-19To all HIMYM fans, this is the bar!!!!!!!!And that’s it hahaha, it’s all about our collective memories of the great show. Knowing the bar is not the same set as it in the show, it’s a completely different bar, but lots of HIMYM pics on the wall.Cocktails are tailored to HIMYM drinks, that’s the fun part. Food is just ok.

2021-09-03If you saw the sitcom “How I met your mother”, you are going to enjoy this pub! You have a nice pictures about the serie and actors all over the walls. The food and beers are really good and the prices are reasonable. Cocktails are amazing and there are based on the series iconic events and characters such as Robin Sparkle, naked man, etc. The costumer service are really good too, totally recommended. 2022-04-30The food was phenomenal. The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent, had no issues what so ever. The wait time for food was only 16 minutes 😋. Calamari was very tasteful, crunchy and well was cooked to perfection. The artichoke spinach dip was tasty sweet an cheesy, the chips it came with was nice crisp. The burgers flavorful. Great atmosphere overall good food decently priced.

2022-06-19I really really wanted to like this place since we are HIMYM fans. Unfortunately all the pubs in the area are much better. There is nothing here but pictures on the wall that remind you of the show. The waiters seem forced to be polite, the food is not worth the price and the drinks/cocktails could be much better. A pity. I recommend the Barcelona Bar or Copper Johns in the area. They do it right!
