This place is generally overcrowded on weekends, and the food is far too expensive for what it is. If youre going to spend that much money on food and drinks, go somewhere nicer. If youre into the whole loud and crowded bar scene, this might be the place for you, but Im not a fan of trying to push through a crowded bar to stand there for 15min in order to get a drink.
I Had the fish and chips and it was very good and I would recommend it. The burger was nothing special and a bit dry. The beer selection had about 15 beer on draft, most were domestic with 3-4 local beers. I would have expected to see a bigger selection. Service was excellent and she was very friendly, quick with the food and keep the drinks full.
Great food with lots of choices. Whenever I have people coming in from out of town I bring them here as theres something for everyone. The interior is actually pretty nice too (for a pub/bar)- the picture they have posted on here doesnt really do the place justice. My only negative comment is that the draft beer selection is only so-so (very generic selection). Would like to see some of our local favorite brews on draft.
Went here during the first phase in since COVID- would’ve given 5 stars but got a $90 bill for 4 drinks and two cheeseburgers- Johnny Black was two of those drinks... but $90? I guess bc it’s top shelf, however in other places the server makes the person aware of the price of a shot or drink if it’s that steep.Anyhow, we ate in the gravel outside, which was cool bc it was a beautiful night and our server was very good. The food was good, as well, which was a nice surprise bc we went to Portchester thinking we were going to Bartaco- which was packed.Overall, good experience and I’d definitely go back again, especially during happy hour to hang out and eat.
Always a pleasure to stop there. I went in before a concert and the bartender Dave treated me like royalty. He kept the pints filled and suggested the perfect apps. We had the chicken sliders and some wings. They were perfect and just what we needed. Be sure to stop in if youre in the area!
Maybe we went on a bad night but service was amazingly slow. Friendly, but slow. Even the app - chicken wings (not the most difficult to prepare) - took a while to get to the table (i.e. a nearby table - seated shortly after us - had their food on their table before a wing hit ours.) Plus the waitress forgot to put in one of the dinner orders, dragging the experience out even longer. Empty drink glasses sat a while before refills were offered. If it were functioning on all cylinders, McShanes seems like it would be the place other reviewers are raving about - cool decor/feel overall. But not a great experience. And if it was busy (it wasnt) Id take that into consideration.
Great menu from flat breads and small plates and salads to amazing shrimp po’ boys, pizza, penne a la vodka, steaks and traditional Irish fare including fish and chips, bangers and mash as well as a full Irish Breakfast. The wait staff is extremely friendly, well trained and one of the two owners can be seen most evenings and all weekend which makes for an extremely well run restaurant where customers are always catered to. On our recent visit on January 6th, mom (born in County Kerry, Ireland) had the Irish breakfast and enjoyed it thoroughly while I had one of the best burgers I have had in a while with mushrooms and Swiss, absolutely delicious! As it was Sunday, the bar was packed with football fans as well as about 6 guys playing darts! Overall a very well run and successful establishment!
This place could be my home away from home. Best service in town ! If your looking for a nice pint in the afternoon I cant say more about McShanes. Happy hour is worth your time. Great specials on appatizers. I highly recommend the fried brie. Im fairly new to the area but, out of 10 to 15 places locally I would say McShanes has the best burger in the area. You have to park on the street or municipal but its beyond worth it.
Your typical center-island layout bar. A number of large, flat screen TVs for sports broadcasts. Limited selection of mainstream beers (not a craft-beer place). Our bartender was on-point and she continually refilled our drinks without our struggling to get her attention. Did not have the food so I cant comment on it. Went on a Saturday night at around 9:30pm with an NFL playoff game on with plenty of seating around the bar still available. Got a little louder and more crowded as the night went on but not to the point of being unable to have conversations or move about freely.
By far, one of my favorite pubs in Westchester. Bartenders are always friendly and service oriented, taking exceptional care of patrons. Food is upscale bar grub and always good! Watching a game at McShanes is also a great experience with TVs everywhere and usually a lively crowd to add to the atmosphere. Additionally, in traditional Irish Pub style, McShanes has 2 real dart boards for customers to enjoy a friendly game!
McShanes....where to begin. The moment I step in the door I feel as if I took a deep breath on a warm summer day standing on the Cliffs of Moher. This quaint pub has everything...ice cold beer, fireball shots, breathtaking wine selection. The T-Bone steak is out of this world, I swear I think they killed and butchered the cow out back (ask the sommelier for an exquisite wine pairing recommendation). Oh yeah--AND they have karaoke.I have three final words:McShanes. McShanes. MCSHANES.

2022-05-19Came here a few times and always the same situation. Lets start with June best server I have had in a long time. She definitely knows what she is doing and I would definitely ask for her again. Now down to the food, I would not alter one dish. Everything is cooked to perfection and delicious. Hats off to the chef and the rest of the kitchen crew. I do not give 5 stars often but when service, food, and prices are right each star is well deserved. You will not be disappointed if you go here.

2022-06-08Really bad experience at this bar. I went there because blonde girl and her 2 guy friends in Stamford said it was a good spot. After I arrived, I noticed that they had come too. Blonde girl invited me to sit next to her after I actually suggested that I sit next to the dudes. I was planning on buying the next round for the group when the bartender said I needed to move over one bar seat because they had a “friend coming.” This was complete nonsense. There was no friend coming. The blonde girl then on the spot made up some story about how her “boyfriend” might be coming, but they really don’t know for sure. LOL wut? Shouldn’t she tell me that her “friend” is coming, not random bartender? Also, is it a bf or friend? Stories don’t match up. Comical at this point, and really just not fooling anyone... Then, bartender admitted that he thought I was talking too closely in her ear, and that it was like I was a “parrot” on her shoulder. The bar was loud- sometimes you have to move closely to talk. So sorry. No apologies from the bar staff, which I would’ve appreciated at the very least. Still tipped $20 for fun. Have fun at McShane’s, but don’t be a brown guy and try to talk to a blonde girl at the bar- you might have to move down a seat.

2019-03-15A beautiful simple bar serving limited crafts and a good selection of bottles beers. The food selection is really great. I had the kalamata olive pizza, it arrived quick and tasted really delicious. The bartender, Miles, was fantastic. I havent come across another bartender who can pour a Guinness as well as he did. Overall, great service, great value. I would go back without a doubt!

2021-06-26SO good - great mix of being a sports bar and a proper pub. Little back patio area if you like to be outdoors, too. Service is always impeccable. Try the burger - really good, if a bit pricey at $12 (fries included — cheese, etc. is not). Guinness on tap, of course. Love coming here.
