This year is our fist year seasonal at Medcalf. We’ve camped at Karl and Shelly’s sister campground in Warrensburg for 4 seasons. Great owners and awesome staff!! Always there for anything you need! All they ask is to be respectful of the other campers and follow simple rules. Family friendly campground with lots of fun activities. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is our 1st year at Metcalf Acres we just love it here.... Now that the season is done we know this will be our forever summer home. The seasonal campers are so friendly. With the COVID issue a lot of activities had to be cancelled but the staff help to keep things going for the grandchildren. There are several playground sets, Mini-put, ping pong table, arcade, basketball court, pool, kayaks and canoes to rentals. The beautiful river is just 1 big added bonus. The grounds, the sites, shower and outhouses/porta-potties are all kept very clean and well kept. The staff is amazing, THANK YOU, Christa, Colleen and Rich for all you do to keep this beautiful place running smooth.
Very clean campground with very friendly and personable staff. Once we arrived on site and started setting up, someone came around, introduced themselves and immediately started given us small hidden places to go soak in the local scenery. Quiet grounds at night. Easy to access tubing areas. this place was really great if you have small children. Theyre very safe. They ride their bikes around. Theres a fairly large playground, and in-ground heated pool, very clean showers and bathrooms. You can take a very quiet romantic walk through a nature trail that comes out on a little small private beach. Even though the campground is packed, it was very easy to social distance. They had movie night, and a themed weekend including a food truck visit. My 5-year-old thoroughly enjoyed herself
My family & myself arrived 8/12. What a beautiful location, 1st impression of campground we were pleased. Christa welcomed us, & we followed her to our site which at 1st seemed quaint, a little close to our neighbor, but decent. After setting up we noticed bits & pieces of trash on the ground, beer/soda cans & trash left in the fire pit. Restroom cleanliness was poor, only One shower which was very muddy & stinky, cob webs everywhere & overall the restroom was not well kept at all! My wife found the Ladies room to be in exactly the same condition! Quiet hours are between 11:00pm & 9:00am...What a freaking Joke!!! Absolutely no security, people partying all night, & overall an impossible environment to get much sleep at all! If you are heading to Medcalf acres for some R & R, good luck!!! The owner took our reservation over the phone, a pleasant man, & since it was our 1st visit, he gave us a free night which we did not take advantage of as we left a day early on 8/15! Thank God it was free! Overall- I would definitely not recommend this campground at all!
I am here right now.. I am staying with my brother in law Mr Warner. I absolutely love this place! Its kid friendly and everyone is so nice. Especially the owners. The pool is amazing and theres so many playgrounds, a sandbox, lots of toys for kids of all ages. My daughter loves it here. And shes only 2. The lake is absolutely relaxing, you can put your toes right in the sand and relax. I will deff be coming back for another stay soon! Thank you for the awesome stay Medcalf Acres🌞💟🏕
The brochure and website are deceiving. It was smaller and a lot more rustic than we expected. It was very difficult to use the sewer as it was on the opposite side of our site ... needed 3 hoses to use the sewer!!! We were with 3 RVs, and none of them drained well. Things could be updated. That said, the staff was amazing! Heated pool was nice. Floating down river, the day after a lot of rain, was also very nice. We made the best of it.
This campground is in beautiful Adirondack mountains of New York. Carl, the owner, seems to have the best interest of the children in mind. There are slot of rules and regulations in place to assure that campers respect other campers etc. I gave only three star rating out of fiive because during our recent stay a nearby campsite was outrageously loud for two of the nights until midnight, and the management did nothing to tell them to keep the noise down sso others could sleep. Since they were drinking heavily it probably would have taken someone with authority to have gotten them to be considerate of others. Hopefully management can improve in this respect in the future.
I have been to this campsite several times and Colleen, Rich and Christa are FANTASTIC! They are hard working and keep everything very well maintained. I actually was impressed by the cleanliness of the restrooms and the overall park itself. I highly recommend this campsite and they are wonderful with the people!
The two stars are 100% for the fantastic people who work at and run this camp ground. They go above and beyond to friendly and helpful. My big complaint may not be there fault but it is still something I wish I had known before booking here. This is the second summer weve visited Schroon Lake but the first time at this camp ground and it was a terrible experience. We stayed the second week of June and have this area is invested with mosquitoes. Ive spent a lot of time in humid climates and have never seen so many mosquitoes in one place. When we left the campground, mosquitoes were not a problem. Our friends live right on Schroon Lake and they have never dealt with mosquitoes to this degree. Our kids attend camp 15 miles from this camp ground and they have never come home with multiple mosquito bites so while mosquitoes are everywhere this campground is in an extremely invested area, surrounded by dirty swampy water. The problem was so bad that you couldnt open a door even to just walk out or in without 3-6 mosquitoes getting inside. We had to leave a day early because I had over 35 bites. I was sleeping in deet. We spent so much money trying to prevent and get rid of them and nothing helped. The problem was so bad that the day I left, I had to load luggage, and load my 2 year old in her car seat which meant a dozen of mosquitoes got in my car. I drove eight hours to PA, stayed in a hotel overnight, got in my car and there were still at least three mosquitoes! It was absolutely miserable and completely ruined our week bc we were so uncomfortable. The camp ground has lots of playground equipment for little kids, but nothing here is new or modern.I am back in the area again this week staying with friends, no mosquitoes yet!
My family and I have been coming to camp at Medcalf Acres for years now. The kids love it here and so do we. There is so much to do. The kayaking on the river is excelent and the kids love all of the activities and crafts available by the store. We are looking forward to using their new heated in ground swimming pool this season. Highly recommend!
The previous review was not right, somehow it wasnt finishedThis is my 50th season, and Karl makes you feel at home.Plenty of activities if you want to be busy, quiet time if you just want to enjoy the beauty of the Adirondacks. This is a great place to enjoy the great out doors
Bringing my granddaughter to stay here makes it 5 generations to stay at this campgrounds at some time or other, my children were happy here for years as seasonal campers and I was thrilled to come back and get almost the same site, the improvements are nice and staff very friendly and helpful. Thanks so much for helping to continue the memories.
The owner asked the size of our 5th wheele. Then proceed to take my c.c. # . Before I gave him the full # I asked about the site map and where we would be. He then says he cant fit us in anywhere. Ummmm really ...he was ready to take my money when he clearly knew our size, but then told us we cant fit only when I asked about a site. Of course I voiced my frustration, he said Are you getting mad at me as I was speaking he then hung up on me. Im sorry but if thats the way you treat your customers you should never be allowed to run a business. UNACCEPTABLE AND RUDE!!!!
The campground was nice the owner on the other hand not so nice booked the holiday weekend the site he put us on was too small for camper .ended up hitting tree but the staff was so friendly put us on another site that worked for the weekend .when I went to to dump sewar backed up up but the staff was nice enough to help with problem ,called owner when I got home to let him know site was to small he put me on was to small did not want to hear it and started arguing with me .nice friendly campground owner not so nice guess just in it for the money as you can see by his response he didn’t read the review it was about him not campground or the people that work there

2021-09-22I enjoyed renting the cabin for the season. It had a very nice view of the river from the front porch. Whenever I needed anything, Karl was super responsive. He and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Sammy and RJ and the others I met worked hard to keep everything clean. The other campers were always friendly as well. Everyone minded the speed limit so it was nice to be able to walk everywhere within the campground, and I saw that the younger kids were able to bike around safely. The location is a great starting point for biking, hiking and sightseeing in Schroon, Ticonderoga, Crown Point and many more interesting historical Adirondack towns nearby. Even if I only had time to stay for a day or two, it felt like a mini-vacation.

2022-07-01Very welcoming and helpful staff. This is our first year as seasonal campers and Karl, RJ and Sam have been nothing short of amazing. Its a gorgeous campground on a beautiful river. All the seasonal campers seem to be very welcoming and friendly. I strongly recommend anyone who is looking for a true campground rather than a large parking lot with sites right on top of each other to check Medcalf out.

2021-12-18This place is awesome! The staff is very friendly and Karl the Owner goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. They have all kinds of Activities and the River is a huge bonus! We went in August and the weather was beautiful and my kids had a great time in the heated Inground Pool. Keep this campground on the top of your list. Heard they are having Live Bands summer 2022.

2022-05-30Oh man what can I say, this place is awesome, many campsites, nice rural area, right on the river, you can’t get any closer to Mother Nature being here. Also as an extra added bonus, there are many activities to partake in, including live entertainment, DJ’s, games for the kids, hayrides, there’s even a “taxi” onsite to shuttle you when needed. RJ the manager is awesome and very helpful as well. 2 thumbs up in my book !!

2022-04-27This place has the WORST owner, He has been arrested many times along with kicking guests out with NO notice and warning. BE ADVISED TO STAY AWAY. If I could leave NO STRS I would have. The horror stories from the seasonal people over the years would make you CRINGE ! The 5 star reviews were made by your staff nice try !

2018-09-07The staff is absolutely awesome. They guided me to my spot and helped me get settled in. The women that run the store and events were so nice and great with the kids. My son who suffers from epilepsy and normally does not do well in crowds, had a blast doing the piniota and the pine needle ride. The grounds were kept very clean and our spot was perfect! We liked it so much we looked into getting it as a seasonal for next year but it was already taken. Great spot for kids and family camping
