I waited for 4 months for a pair of shoes and it finally arrived with lots is scratches and just overall poorly made - you just can tell from the stitches and such. They refused to exchange/return even though when I bought the shoes in store the salesperson clearly said the shoes is returnable. My first/last pair here.
April 2022 Updated review: the most important part of this review is the actual comfort of the shoe. I purchased the 106540 - BEECHNUT NATURCALF - E and to this day they remain a pain to wear. Ive tried everything to break them in and they just dont budge. Sadly, would not purchase another pair of these shoes especially at the price!I bought the norvegese wholecut BEECHNUT NATURCALF for my wedding and absolutely loved the shoes. Bought them online and found out about Meermin via one of those YouTube gentlemen videos. Glad the reopened their Soho location and stopped by to ask a question about my scuffed pari of shoes. Alexis was very helpful in getting them cleaned up right there in the store (while they had several other customers they were dealing with) and also wrote down the local cobbler that they turn to for dying shoes. That connect was phenomenal in restoring my shoes and Alexis wrote down extra products I needed to keep them clean.Overall the shoes are phenomenal. The store is clean and the staff is knowledgeable. I didnt have any negative experience. My only wish would be that they have that standard fit meter on their website so you could know whether to order a size up, down, or as is. I had to return my first pair because they were too big and sometimes i feel like the pair i have now has some room in it but i was too worried to go a size down. other than that they are amazing companny.
3 Employees 2 sets of customers. The only one that checked on me was the one already helping the other customer. The other two are just hanging out as I wait for help. Such a shame I’m walking out because I had tried the shoes I wanted to purchase at my suit fitting at a boutique close by.
I was very happy with the customer service, but very disappointed when the price was 20$ more than stated multiple times while shopping. I understand mistakes, but would have thought splitting the difference would not have been something prohibited. That would have been fair.
I was supposed to visit NYC and called the store ahead of time ahead of time. The manager, Alexis, was super helpful in both helping me pick everything over the phone and offering to hold it for me as I needed a pair of shoes and matching belt for my wedding. As a tip, Meermin uses UK sizing for shoes.A couple days later, I had to cancel my trip due to Covid exposure and Alexis helped me get the items ordered both from the store and the warehouse delivered to my house expediently. Good service is hard to find. I would highly recommend this location and this manager.
We were here about a month ago with my husband. I was so excited about this place! I used to look online when will it open as the old location was closed. I used to work in menswear and I know that Meermin shoes are great. I could write an essay about it but what matters is that the customer service was really bad here. We felt unwelcome. If the sales woman had made a bit of an effort we would have parted with two pairs of shoes but she obviously didn’t care. We bought the one pair of boots we were desperate for then we left. I give two stars because the boots are great. It is kind of sad that I loves the brand but I really do not want to ever go back to this store.
Great staff, ended up buying a pair a few years ago and they’re still the most uncomfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. They laces also break and need to be replaced often and for those of you that travel there’s metal in the shoe so you’ll always need to take them off to go through security
Meermin makes good quality shoes for the price. However, Canadian consumers beware — They are now shipping their Spanish shoes from their NYC/NJ warehouses and this is resulting in an 18% tariff on top of what are regular taxes. Before, they used to ship directly from Spain and there was no duties or tariffs (only taxes) for Canadian customers.A 670$ order came out to 923$ with the duties and taxes. At those prices, you are better off buying Carmina locally for 600$+ taxes.Will not order again.*UPDATE* The shoes are entirely made in China and declared as such on their invoice. This is why they were subject to a tariff — they are not Spanish shoes whatsoever (which was no secret).
Bought the soft calf unlined penny loafers. I have a D width and wear an 11 sneaker (US). They fit very well and the quality is superb. I need an insole for my right foot for a little heel slippage, but I dont care because Saphir makes good cheap ones. Also a 10.5 would be too small. Came with a dust bag and great leather smell.
I visited this place yesterday and I had a good service overall. Alexis (Forgive me if I spell his name wrong) was the only person working in there due to Covid-19 situation and he was very informative on explaining shoe products, models, and sizes. I decided to order a Burgundy double monkstrap from Linea Maestro line, but they did not have the right size and the online store was sold out of this model. He took my information and requested on their service line to see if they have material available to make a pair for me. Within same day I received invoice from Meermin to purchase the shoe I requested. I have placed the order and now waiting to be arrive. I expect them to take few weeks, but since I am not in a hurry I fine with it. I will update the post once the shoe is arrive. Overall it was a pleasant experience and if you have chance to visit, I would recommend to do so and I give props to Alexis for his service.
Edit: Visited the store yesterday to pick up a pair of boots which they didn’t have in stock. Staff has changed since my last visit and seemed least interested in helping this time around. Hence, I have changed my rating to a 3 (I still like this shoes).I was visiting from Toronto and decided to check out the Meermin store to try on a pair of expresso antique oxfords. Since it was a weekday, I was the only one in the store and was instantly helped by Alex. He was not at all pushy and was quite knowledgeable, as I did not find the right size for the shoe I finalized, he suggested that I order online. Definitely recommend! Ended up purchasing the shoe online and enjoy it thoroughly.
While the products are good, the staff does not do very much. This was the second time I’ve visited the store in the last 2 months, both times I was intent & keen on making a purchase. But the staff could care less... they seem more “busy” with restocking & organizing shelves than actually attending to potential customers. You really have to walk all the way to the back & ask them to give you your size, probe them for more details.The shoe I wanted, both times, they didn’t have my size, and so that was that (no other recommendations given). Oddly strange for a a customer service team.
Fantastic store, fantastic service, fantastic shoes. Finding the actual store is kind of difficult, but once youre inside it is a beautifully curated store with excellent employees. I ended up trying on about 5 pairs before deciding on a pair of copper oxfords. The employees were nothing but helpful the entire time. I even had to do an exchange and it was completely painless. Cannot recommend Meermin enough.
To be clear, the product Meermin sells is great. However, their customer service and communication skills are truly a train wreck, making it not worth your while to purchase from them. I would take your money elsewhere to comparable brands where you can get the same quality of manufacturing without the headache of having to deal with this company.
Great customer service. Nowadays, you can fulfill all of your needs by shopping online. However, when it comes to shoes, its best to shop in person. I was greeted as soon as I came in and given the proper attention. I was able to try on a few pair of shoes and given explanations on the difference in sizing from last to last. Couldnt be happier.
While I have never physically been to the store I can attest to their great customer service. I purchased several pairs of shoes at a trunk show in Philadelphia. Through the hustle and bustle of the purchase I ended up with the wrong size in my bag. I did not pull them out until several months later. I called the store and they exchanged with no issues. Now that is good service. These shoes are a great value for the level of quality you receive.
This review is about Alexis. Forget the the quality of Meermin for a second, great brand, I own 3 pairs. I must compliment Meermin for finding such a well spoken, and diligent young man in Alexis.When I met Alexis, he had no idea I had multipl Meermins but I had a question about shoe care products and he spent a good 10 minutes with me writing down multiple products and shoecare steps when he did not have to. Extremely detailed oriented.I came back several weeks later with my girlfriend to pick up a pair boots and he remembered our interaction. He was extremely patient with my girlfriend and again very detail oriented. Even after the purchase was made, I saw him in the back room cleaning the suede boots before putting in the box to make sure it looked its best. These are things you cant teach & and very valuable in customer service.I am under the impression Meermin is moving to another location, I look forward to seeing Alexis soon.5 stars
IF YOU HAVE WIDE FEET, PLEASE READ.Meermin makes the BEST good-year welted shoes for the price on the market. ALTHOUGH, if you have WIDE or FAT Feet, AVOID THESE SHOES AT ALL COSTS. All there shoes take over 20 wears to break in, and during those 20 wears youre feet will feet like death. I do not even wear my Meermins anymore because of the pain. I have wide and fat feet, these shoes are TERRIBLE for me.They do look good though!
Terrific place. Though bit difficult to find and get to, inside a small door and need to take the elevator. The stuff is extremely thoughtful, yet quite. I was the only customer at the time I went there. After I picked a style to try on, he brought my size, with a smaller size and a one-time thin sock that I didn’t know at that time. When I felt the size run big, he gave me the smaller size right away. When I felt my thick winter socks gave me an inaccurate fitting, he gave me the thin sock. All the time he just quietly waited at his desk, not elaborating the brand advantages over others like usual sales ppl would do. Personally I do prefer this style of shopping, no lecturing, only caring.
Beautiful store, nice customer service, terrible execution. I visited the store a couple months ago to buy a pair of shoes...the shoes that I really liked were not in the store in my size so I tried on something similar to gain a sense of fit.What I next decided to do was have them deliver the pair of shoes I liked in my size to the store. I was told to wait no longer than a month to come into the store, try them on, and then purchase them.A month goes by and I decide to call up a representative at the store. I was told that within another week I will receive a phone call to pick up the pair in store. Two months later and here I am, without the shoes I enjoyed.Thanks but no thanks. My money has gone elsewhere after being told one thing and being led like a fool. Terrible execution, beautiful and comfy shoes!
Ordered a belt on July 17th, delivery to Canada. The first shipment was returned to sender before arriving at my house because Meermin forgot to include a commercial invoice. Ok no prob, mistakes happen. But no one contacted me, I had to inform them! I also paid duty and tax on a package that NEVER ARRIVED! So on the next shipment, they said duty and tax would be prepaid, and guess what, it wasnt! Its now Aug 4th and my package still hasnt arrived and Im out $40 extrai duty and tax. Customer service has been deplorable throughout this entire period. Multiple times they did not reply until messaging them twice in 4 days. Yes I gave reasonable time for a response. And they have not kept any of the promises they made. In addition, no attempt to offer even a paltry 10% discount or expedited shipping to make up for their incompetence.Ive read great things about their products, but for a first time customer, this leaves a bad taste in my mouth. First and last purchase I will will make from them. Buyer beware.
The product? Great. The two people working today at your Soho store need to catch a clue on how to make a sale. I walked in with a suit I had just purchased, and asked if I could try it on with the shoes I would be buying, also explaining it was for my own wedding. The saleswoman could not have cared less, saying.. “sorry we don’t have changing rooms, and only employees are allowed in the back”. I said, you sure I cant just change in your bathroom or something? Nope. Ok, ill give the 500 I was about to drop on shoes to someone else.
Great service and beautiful shoes. The place is difficult to find and youre going to have to buzz in to get into the building and get to the elevator.Worth the trouble and a great experience overall. Ive got fat feet, so it was hard to shop for me. Great customer service and staff never seemed annoyed with having tried to help me with my abnormally wide feet.
My understanding of this company is that this is a DTC type company and only opened a local store to ease returns and help with sizing. As such, I dropped by just to find which last and size fit me best with the intention of ordering what I need online. Despite not currently owning their products, I can say that the shoes that I did try on and inspect had better QC and finish than my Allen Edmonds shoes (new and factory seconds) and the leather quality looks quite good. I have read that Meermins take longer to break in as they use a stiffer leather sole than other similar quality shoes.Alex was amazingly helpful though I have to say that the store setup feels kinda shady and budget-y on the outside; it feels like it was an old apartment in a shady-alley neighborhood that was re-purposed as a shoe shop.I had to buzz in twice to start with (wasnt expecting to have to buzz in at all). Once I got in there my kids passed out on the couch as Alex helped pull all the models I was interested in and helped me decide on sizing. I gave him my Brannock size as well as my typical AE sizes and he quickly honed in on two sizes for each shoe type to try on. He was very patient and friendly. Hes also the only shoe salesman Ive ever encountered that was honest enough to tell me that they dont have a size that will work for me on a particular model. Not that I would have bought a shoe that doesnt fit but its refreshing to me that a salesperson would be honest enough to admit it rather than try and push a sale on a poorly fitted shoe.
Terrible online customer service. Returned a pair of boots and still waiting for my refund nearly a month later. Sometimes I get generic replies to email inquiries telling me to wait another 5-7 days. Getting ghosted now. Very frustrated after my first and last experience with them.
For the money, these shoes are an excellent value. They take timeless shapes from other notable brands and remake them with more accessible materials for a wider budget-conscious audience. The team is friendly but their present phone system needs to be upgraded. Very hard to hear.
Love! the products from fit to quality.Customer service was pretty awful.Naturally as a new customer I had a few questions regarding differences in width and sizing, however every question I asked was met with attitude, perhaps their main focus is on the quality of the product not CS.I’d just rather much purchase online.
Still havent recieved product despite being promised more than two months that theyd ship it. Everytime it is some trivial excuse. Not holding my breath. Dont forget to get a chargeback with your credit card if you havent folks. They act like theyre selling gums and paperclips.
Recently I visited this store and its fine for a blank space but my concern is whether the shoes are made in Spain. Ive heard from friends and social media that the shoes are made in China and India but in the stores (in NY and Madrid) they are selling them as 100% made in Spain with leathers sourced from other countries. Can anyone help with this...as Im not sure if I should buy this product for this reason.
We first knew about Meermin when we were on holidays in Madrid and since then, we are obsessed with the brand. The quality of the leather is just incredible - I totally recommend it! They recently opened their first store in NY and it’s great. Will come back for sure!!
Great and knowledgeable staff who will answer any questions you may have. The entrance was a little tricky to find but just find their call box. They also gave me a free wallet because I went on Black Friday. So far the shoes are holding up well and Im sure they will for long time.
Unacceptable Service - Dishonest Company*This review is specifically regarding online orders, not the New Jersey location that recently opened*I received shoes and a belt in March right before Covid hit. I attempted to return them and was told that the NYC receiving location would be closed for months due to Covid and that an exception would be made for returning them at a later date. Fast forward to November, the shoes and belt have been sitting in my closet in their original packaging and shipping container, untouched, and awaiting the ability to return them.I reached back out to check back in with them since Covid has only gotten worse since March and their NYC location has since closed, and am now told that I can only exchange them and not receive a refund because their facilities have been reopened for months. Apparently I should have been calling/emailing them daily for status updates.After going back and forth via email, they finally agreed to accept the return and informed me to return the order to New Jersey and they would accept it with no inconvenience. I shipped them back and reached back out to Meermin one week after they received the package and was told that they had indeed been received but were still being processed by the returns department. One week later I reach back out to check on the status of my return/refund and am now being told once again that I wont be given a refund, and that only an exchange is possible.The email responses seem to come from someone different with each response. They are in broken English and very short and curt. This process has been extremely frustrating and disappointing and I will never purchase a single item from Meermin again. At this point they can just keep the shoes. I dont want anything to do with the company or their products, and apparently they need the money more than I do.

2022-08-24I Needed a new pair of shoes for my sisters wedding and after trying on and researching brands online I settled on Meermin. I really liked the fact that even though they are mainly an online direct to consumer brand they have a physical location as well.Giovanni and Kyle were extremely helpful and nice! they helped me settle on a style and found the correct size since Meermin is in UK sizes (not European or US sizes).The shoes themselves look beautiful. At first they were a bit stiff but after a couple of wears they have broken in and feel comfortable.It is highly recommend going in to try on a pair before buying since the sizing is UK and there are different lasts and styles. Plus the staff is really nice and professional.

2022-09-20This review comes for Meermin as a whole and not specifically this location. When I visited, there were 3 different shoes I was interested in getting. My size didnt exist in any of the models (11.5/12) which I found pretty surprising. Nonetheless, I took it as things happen, and they advised me that I could be notified online when certain items come in stock. I signed up.The notify me when available function doesnt work, as I found a particular size I was curious about online about a week later but I never received an email. Im from Canada and trying to use a gift card so that I can pick up shoes in November when I visit family in the states, so its important to me to get things sorted in advance. I tried their chat feature AND emailed the customer service directly, and its been over 6 days and Im honestly not expecting a reply at this point. I dont understand why the customer service is so poor. Cant comment on the shoes, but at this point its been such a hassle trying to buy one pair that I wouldnt recommend Meermin going forward.

2022-03-18They have very well made shoes with great styles I purchased 4 pair of shoes from them but, the only problem I had with their shoes is that they are not comfortable . It took more than 3 months to break them in and they still hurt on my feet. Their shoes are too hard and need to be cushioned for comfort which they are not. Great store and great prices but not comfortable at all..

2022-09-01Neither the salesmen nor the managers are familiar with the products they sell. I had questions about materials and the availability of products. None of the personnel had familiarity with the requisite basic leather or shoe terminology needed to assist me.Meermin isn’t doing a good job instructing their staff about their products.

2022-08-14Return policy is a scam!! I ordered a pair of dress shoes that were brand new and still in the box when I decided on another company. I opted out of their expensive return shipping option and shipped them back to Meermin myself. The USPS tracking record showed delivery to their return address, but the warehouse lost my shoes and they won’t refund me!! They lied to the CC company when I tried to contest the record and when I call to get a refund, they now say they have no record of my purchase in the first place, despite me being able to look it up online. Really shameful customer service, would avoid them!

2022-03-01I had a stellar experience picking out my very first pair of dress shoes for the beginning of my wedding circuit this year. The attendant (Dan) had excellent advice and helped me find my size and try on many different pairs before I landed on a copper oxford shoe that would pop with a navy suit. Thank you Meermins for the amazing customer service and phenomenal product without breaking the bank.
