Meow Parlour in New York
Really great place to hang out with cats, learn more about fostering and how to help, and enjoy tea and macarons. The staff is very friendly and do all possible for you to enjoy your visit. Rules are pretty clear and reasonable to maintain the well-being of the animals and other visitors. Cant wait to go back. 🐱
This is a wonderful little place with so many adorable kitties. I came here with my boyfriend and the employees were both very lovely. The kitties look well taken care of, and they are all available for adoption as well. They seem to take in cats from shelters to encourage adoption, which I think is amazing. Don’t forget to make a reservation online before coming!
This place is absolutely lovely. It’s cute, cozy, and comfortable, and there are plenty of cats and kittens to love on! If you’re visiting the city and missing your cats at home (as I was) there is no better experience. All of the employees were so nice and I could have just stayed there all day playing with adorable kitties. Do not miss this gem!
We had an amazing experience at Meow Parlour! Not only were the staff incredibly friendly and knowledgeable (because yes, there are cat bios posted but sometimes you have a cat on your lap and cannot move) but they helped with my coffee order and with a toy that was liberated by a sassy adoptable cat! I couldn’t be happier supporting a small business, especially one that helps adopt cats and bring joy just by allowing us to stop by and love on the cats. Go, enjoy some purrs and macarons, it’ll make your week!
Amazing place, cats where super friendly and some very playful (others were asleep) 🐈⬛A bit tight, but they only accept 6 people at a time (with reservation ahead of time on their website for the weekends). We ordered chocolate milk and it was amazing, also recommend the ice cream sandwich for sure 🍨I wish more cats where there in our day.
I have been to meow parlour twice now looking for a kitty to adopt and it was a great experience both times. the kitties are all mostly in one room and the number of visitors allowed in at any one time is limited, so you get a lot of contact. the website recommended an early appointment, when the kitties are liveliest, and at 11 am the kittens were very playful indeed! playing with several kittens at once? i call that heaven. the staff were also really nice and very helpful, answering all my questions about specific cats and the adoption process. this is a first-rate operation that deserves recognition for the excellent work they do rescuing and finding homes for cats and kittens.
Came here with my boyfriend a few years ago and we had a fantastic time! Love supporting this place and their mission. The cats were great, the atmosphere was comfortable and cozy and the staff was awesome. I highly recommend checking them out and supporting what they do!
They say dogs have owners, cats have staff: well, these cats have ACTUAL staff who clearly respect and care very much about keeping their residents happy, not to mention setting them up to go to excellent forever homes. This is a relaxed, clean, happy space for those who need some kitty love and caffeine. Highly recommend!
Really nice and cozy place. Pretty much just what I expected. You can just relax with kittens around, play with them or just sit there and drink coffee in a relaxing environment. It is also a nice way of getting the cats adopted which is good for the society and cats themselves.
Great experience. Brought my wife here on a weekend trip. Great way to decompress from walking around NYC. Very professional, very clean place, good variety of snacks. They have a variety of seats (benches on the wall, high-top chairs, pillows on the floor). Also kitty toys, puzzles, games, cat books, etc. I would highly recommend scheduling an appointment and visiting.
ᓚᘏᗢ - It goes beyond the stars.I really had a great time. My visit to Meow Parlour really made my day. Super friendly staff, the atmosphere was awesome, calm and fun at the same time! Everything was perfect! : The cute toys and beds ( I love the sardine tin one, my fav ♡), the music, the interaction with the beautiful, soft, goofy, lovely cats!૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა - Even the merchandise is so cute (Got myself a Tote, pin and a pair of socks). These two gorgeous on the images, never left my side during my entire visit! It really was an awesome experience! Looking forward to come back soon!. Thank you Meow Parlour!
I adore this café and I recently adopted two lovely kittens from here. The employees are well informed and care for the cats very much. Their bakery is amazing too, they make the pasteries and other baked good from scratch and you can tell by the quality. Though I have my kittens, I will come back once in a while.
Meow Parlour is simply a wonderful, magical place! My family celebrated my nieces birthday here as a private party of less than ten people. It couldnt have been better - everyone had an amazing time, from the little kids, to the adults, to our elderly mother. The kittens were interactive and playful! We played with them for almost an hour, and didnt want to leave. And, even better: all the cats are adoptable! We ordered some macarons and drinks while we were there, and everything was delicious. (As a side note, Ive ordered hundreds of their macarons online over these last two years to give away to gifts - theyre SO good!) Meow Parlours staff were also so kind and helpful, and their COVID policies made us feel safe. They (and we) wore our masks the entire time. After we left, the kids started thinking about whose birthday was next so they could start planning our next visit. Its been almost three months, and they still talk about it! Suffice it to say, this was probably the first of many birthdays we will celebrate at Meow Parlour.I highly recommend Meow Parlour to anyone looking to have a small event with family or friends, and also to anyone just looking for something fun to do in the city. And thank you to everyone at Meow Parlour for everything you do in getting these amazing cats adopted!!
Cute cat cafe with sweet cats but I was unlucky and spent most of the time sitting there while a group of children chased the cats into alcoves. This was the first time in years since I’ve been able to see cats (I have no cat cafés in my area) so I was really disappointed to have no time to pet or sit near the cats.
I had an amazing time at Meow Parlour! The staff was so kind (one even ran next door to get the tea I ordered so I didn’t have to miss a minute of kitten time) and the cats were, of course, adorable! As I was leaving, I chatted with Simon outside, who was so nice as I was joking that he is “Instagram famous.” Can’t wait to visit again on my next trip to NYC.
I have never been to this establishment, but I’ve always dreamed of going and pray I can one day. I’ve been following them on instagram for a very long time and love their passion for helping cats. Running a small business is hard and fostering/adopting cats can take its toll on your heart, but they do it so well! My family and I also foster and rescue cats and admire Meow Parlour’s hard work and dedication. We pray you have a blessed future.
Second time visiting Meow Parlour as a local! As Im writing this review, my paw-tner and I bought tickets for $16 each, tax included, a great price to cuddle cats for fifty minutes ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅThe space was clean and was conveniently furnished with a bathroom, purr-fect after drinking all that tea and coffee from Macaron Parlour (the bakery next door). Meow Parlour also has small but mighty gift shop stocked with cute stationery, apparel, and cat toys. Bonus points for the staff not hogging the cats that are awake (unlike at another NYC cat café 😬)!With this summer being kitten season, if youre looking for lots of engagement from the rambunctious babies, now is the purr-fect time to reserve a fifty-minute slot at Meow Parlour! The last time I visited, many of the cats were adults, as opposed to kittens, and prefer to nap (which I purr-sonally love). If youre extra special, you may get one crawling in your lap and taking a snooze!Overall, the best cat café in the city! Its a shame that Ill be moving away soon, but Ill definitely be back for another reservation when I stop by the city! ∩(・ω・)∩
Finally had the chance to visit Meow Parlour this winter! We had such a lovely time. The staff is super kind and welcoming. The space is clean and bright. The macarons were divine (love the vegan options). The kitties are adorable! I love supporting their mission and believe that they are doing the cat café thing right. You can tell that the whole team puts their heart and soul into Meow Parlour to ensure that as many cats as possible find purrfect homes. Visit and experience the joy that is Meow Parlour!
Lillian Dass (9 Yr old): Have you ever heard of a cafe? But with cats? Yes. You know what Im talking about. A cat cafe! Today, I went to one today. Its called Meow Parlour. Meow Parlour is a cat cafe where you can play with the cats. But there are some rules... and booking. First, you need to go to the website. I have the link. Its meowparlour.com. There are some sections for adopting and booking. Click on booking. There you will find an application for booking. Right down the number of children and adults. I picked the time for 11:00am, Now, you gotta go on train or car. I chose the train. I suppose its 11 stops away from where I live. Once you reach Delancy St. Go straight on the road then go left when you are out of the subway. Then you see Meow Parlour! You gotta be vaccinated and provide vaccination card for Covid and you all know why ..... I forgot mine, so I had a knot in my stomach. But my dad took a photo of my card and sent it on Whatsapp, so my stomach was unknotted. Youll be showing the vaccination card for proof so you can touch the cats. Now rules... First, take off your shoes and put them in the cubby. A man will be explaining the rules of Meow Parlour. He told me, my mom,, to wear a mask, dont pick up the cats, dont feed the cats, and no flash photography. When I got inside, OMG! The kitties were SO cute. Theres a wall of photos of the descriptions of the cats. There was this cat who loved me. I think his name was Jasper. The tabby cat was really playful. There were 2 twins. Both of them were lazy cats. One lazy twin joined me for a picture!! I got some toys from the toy bag. I usually took the wand toy. I saw some cats play seeing who would catch the ball. The best part, they even have FOOD! Oh well, this was my Meow Parlour experience. You HAVE to go there! Make yourself and the cats comfortable. Enjoy!!!
Friendly employees and lots of variety of cats. My issue with them is when it comes to the adoption process. I was told it was a 4 step process. After doing the filling out my application, no one ever got back to us to move forward or atleast tell us why we weren’t able to get the cat we wanted. It’s been almost 3 weeks and no response. It’s infuriating because I really liked the cats there. Oh well.
I had an amazing time at Meow Parlour! Staff was great and answered all my questions. Such a sweet spot for those who love animals. The cats were so sweet and seemed well taken care of. They make sure you sanitize your hands before petting the cats and for me that’s awesome. They care about their cats health. We didn’t have to wait and the price was more than fare. They charged $8 for 30minutes. We just walk in but you can make reservations online. They also have yoga class with the kittens and many many events. I’m def coming back sometime soon.
Make sure to reserve upfront as I noticed they are pretty busy. The staff knows the animals well and it’s just such an amazing thing that they help with the adoption of the cats! You have to pay a few dollars per half an hour and can also donate some money for the good cause (which is spent for the food and vet costs of the cats).
Lots of cats to play with and relax around. They are great cats that put up with a lot. They were all relatively young. Most were sleeping at first but woke up half way through. Nice to have the food package from next door and just be around the cats while eating. Though they will try to steal the food. The staff is friendly and care about their cats deeply. Great place!
A dream come true! i have always wanted to visit a cat cafe and Meow Parlour finally happened! made the reservations online with 1 or 2 days in advance and that was all. Visited them after noon and we were in luck as we were the only one inside so all the cats were available to us. Some were friendly, some were scared, none was aggressive with us! if i would have been living in NY or at least US, i would have adopted at least one of the cats. i cant say much about whats on the menu because all i was interested in were the cats :) there were 6 or 7 cats, 2 of them were asleep, the other were playful. They had a nice souvenir shop also from where i made some purchase. home is where the cats are!
Cats were cute but you are not allowed to hold them. They can come to you and you can pet and play with them. They ask you to leave your shoes and coats before entering. Also, they ask you to clean your hands with sanitizer. The store sells tshirts, books, mugs and books about cats. The cafe smells a bit and looks like it needs more attention for cleaning. Staff was very polite and welcoming.
The online booking process was very efficient and user friendly. We got to pick the date & time for our visit, the package we would like, and prefilled our waivers. The staff was absolutely friendly and gave info on all of the wonderful cats there. We had a great time and got our kitty fix in!
The staff are so friendly and place is clean. Its very inviting. The kittens/cats are so sweet and add super cute but sleeping when I got there. I would definitely recommend this place. Just to let you know, you will have to pay $8 to enter which is fine. I didnt get my cat today but Ill return for sure.
A relaxing go to spot for people who love cats and animals- it’s a very soothing experience to be surrounded by (usually) 10+ cats in the cafe, where you can play together, pet and hang around. Book in advance to ensure you get a spot, especially during popular hours. The cafe also offers baked goods, desserts and drinks from the next door cafe.I started as a visitor but now also have been partnering with Meow Parlour as a cat foster parent. It’s a truly rewarding experience, with a team of dedicated people who wish for the best for these adoptable cats and kitties. Meow Parlour also runs fun events such as cat behaviorist panel sessions, cat yoga, drag bingo etc. It’s great for people who wish to spend some quality time with cats, and people who are thinking of adoption as you get to see the cat’s behavior while visiting.
Jose and the whole team there is great! They are very knowledgeable. I would recommend fostering and adopting from there. They care about the cats and the people. They want to make sure it was a good fit for the cats and their owners.Edit: We love our cat that we got from Meow Parlour. Shes healthy a year later with no health issues.
My new favorite place in nyc, I’m a cat person and cannot have a cat at the moment unfortunately so it’s great to come here and play with all the cute cats. The money also goes to helping the cats get adopted so it’s a great cause! I went last weekend and they had 7 adorable kittens to play with.
Nice concept, great idea of supporting cat shelters, stylish space. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I didnt like the smell (it was not too bad, but 10+ cats livinng in a small space do smell). I came at 12pm and most of the cats were either sleeping or hiding. However, its nice to have an opportunity to chill with cats in the city :)
This is the worst customer service that I have ever received. I have been trying to reach out to them for weeks regarding the fact that I never received my confirmation for my visit and no one has gotten back to me. I have been here before and I love the atmosphere, however trying to get in touch with someone is an actual nightmare.
What a wonderful way for these lil buddies to find a home. Meow Parlour works with a local shelter in Harlem, features a handful of rescues in an immaculately kept kitty playground and invites cat lovers in for a nominal fee to pet, play, have a homemade scone and cup of coffee and hopefully adopt a kitty and give them a forever home. When I went with my daughter, the staff was nice but professional and very focused on the cats-the rules were clear, no picking up, keep track of your own time etc. None of the cats seemed stressed, afraid of people, irritated or agitated. Cats and humans coexisted blissfully in 30min increments. At the end of our visit, a young man adopted, Lint, a little black and white kitty he had met several days earlier over some catnip and a cup of coffee. Last time I checked, all you could get with your latte at Starbucks was a lemon pound cake?! Good work Meow Parlour.
Definitely a unique experience and one of few cat cafes in NYC. The shop itself does not have the same feel as a cafe, in case youre expecting it to. Its more like a place you can pay to see cats that also serves coffee and sweets. The cafe doesnt feel very clean, but thats to be expected when you devote any space to animals. The staff do attempt to keep it neat as I saw them sweeping/spraying air freshener in the short time I was there. You pay by the half hour and they do recommend reservations. However, the half hour felt like the perfect amount of time to play with some of the cats and enjoy a coffee. They also provide you a 6 minute grace period which is very considerate of them.Overall I would return as its a nice experience when you miss interacting with cats or are looking to adopt one of your own : )
Loved this kitty cafe! You pay $6/30min spent there, cutling and playing with cats (in my opinion cheap). You have the possibility to have coffee and cookies delivered to you from next door (very good). The staff is friendly and the cats mostly social. There was 2 kittens when I visited yesterday... So adorable!!!
A great way to destress! I’ve been to Koneko but I like this place better. The staff is so friendly and helpful - their priority is keeping the cats/kittens happy and healthy which is great. We arrived 30 min late to our reservation because of traffic and the staff was nice and let us stay an extra 10-15 min past everyone else so we could get adequate time with the cats. The cats are just adorable and look so happy and healthy. When I went they just had an influx of kittens so I’m sure that helped! Highly recommend.
I loved the experience! I have wanted to go to a cat cafe for a long time, but because I had my own cat I didnt want it to feel like I was cheating on him 😹. My cat Bagel of 18.5 years recently crossed the rainbow bridge in late November 2021 and I really miss doing cat things with him that I just wanted a day to hang out with cats. Im not ready to adopt right now and plan to find a shelter to volunteer, but as a last minute thing for my birthday I chose to come here and I loved every second of it, in fact an hour passed by too quickly! Im glad to hear there werent many available for adoption, because theyve already been adopted or in the process which is good to hear! There was one super friendly kitty who became obsessed me, Gummy Bear, what a cutie! I will be sure to come back again! Thanks for making the start of my birthday weekend amazing!
I didnt really enjoy my experience here because the place was super crowded and the other clients were hogging the cats. Also because you are not supposed to pick them up, I was at loss as how to cuddle with the cats. I feel like this is a concept that doesnt translate as well in real life
This place was amazing!! My first time ever visiting a cat cafe, and everything I could have ever dreamed of. Not too expensive, clean and inviting atmosphere, and both the cats and staff were super friendly. Such an amazing idea and a great implementation of it. I definitely would recommend going at least once!!
The place is great fun. It was our third time there and the place felt cleaner than in the past. The cats were a bit more subdued , but still a good experience. If you love cats, but either cannot have them at your home, or dont have the capacity to look after them, this is a great alternative.
Cute place. 8$ per half hour. The cats are mostly asleep and when they’re not they are uninterested in playing. But you can’t blame them cuz they’re cats, who would want to be touched by strangers. It’s better to nap. The cats are very cute so you can still take photos of them while they’re sleep and they’re all up for adoption! To be honest, I was very bored but you can’t put less than four stars for cute cats
This cafe/cat cuddles is an amazing little hidden Gem, they are handicapped accessible!!! (The cafe however is not but they are more then accommodating and will bring you your snacks) And the kitties are wonderful and adoptable! When we went Mr. tux may have been a snack stealer lol but he found a wonderful home (remember these are rescues we don’t know sometimes how they had to fend for themselves to eat)We plan on visiting again when we are in town.
This is my third time visiting this place. The workers there are very nice. Its very relaxing to visit and sit in with the cats. They have cat related board games that are available to play as well as products that they sell to help pay for their expenses. All the cats there are also adoptable which is great if youre looking to possibly adopt one.
Absolutely wonderful experience. My friend and I were lucky enough to visit via walk-in, and got around 30 minutes to spend with the cats. (I want to note- be sure to make a reservation at least a month beforehand, some people arent as lucky and will be turned away) The staff were very informative and accommodating, telling us where to take off our shoes and even providing us with slippers! Despite the small space, its very cozy and chic, and everything is cat-themed which is absolutely purrfect!Stepping in, the first odor I recognized was the smell of a litterbox. For those who are relatively new to cats in general, this may put you off, but you get used to it rather quickly. I want to say this now: if you are expecting the cats to be purring and rubbing against your legs, you are 100% wrong. The cats do not serve you. You serve the cats. You are the one that has bought the privilege to be in their wondrous presence, so dont go complaining about how none of the cats wanted to come up to you. If you are totally new to cats, ask the staff or fellow customers how to interact with them, and Im sure youll get a few pointers.Walking in either barefoot or in slippers, youre free to kneel down beside any sleeping or lounging cats and allow them to sniff you before giving them pets. If you see a three-legged cat, be wary- shes rather crabby, and the staff will definitely warn you because of this. There are toys and brushes strewn around everywhere, and there is always a cat sitting in the front, watching the world of New York fly by.While lounging with the cats, you can order food. My friend and I ordered the cookies- and they were SOOO GOOD. They were so soft, so filling, and practically melted in your mouth. I didnt have the chance to eat the macarons, but other patrons seemed to like them too. They had great tea as well, and its rather remarkable how NONE of the cats were interested in eating human food, so no need to worry about any snack thieves. My friend was lucky enough to have one of the kittens crawl into her lap and sleep there for the remainder of our time. When our time was up, we had to go through the agonizing experience of shoving the cat off her lap. Cute kitty, if youre reading this- we are so, so sorry.Great experience, great staff, and of course: cute cats. Will definitely be dropping by whenever we can.
A small cat cafe but they treat their cats very well. Theres very strict rules regarding no young children and not picking up cats or disturbing sleeping cats, which is big issues in less well-managed cat cafes letting patrons overwhelm their cats socially. All the cats are also up for adoption which is a big plus.
I found the coffee here not the greatest, its alright. Good place to stop in if you have some time to waste before other arrangements. There is a bit of a funk smell as other reviewers mentioned but its not unbareable and they do keep place clean and try to cover it up with some spray.
Maybe I was expecting too much from a cat cafe since this was my first time visiting one, but I definitely wasnt impressed. The place reeked of cat feces. I understand there are multiple litter boxes in the area, which is perfect for all the cats, but it smells like they could be changed more frequently. Especially if its supposed to be a cafe setting where people are enjoying snacks. The menu didnt sound too exciting and was ordered from an actual cafe next door. The staff are great with attempting to keep the place sanitized for the cats in regards to controlling what comes in. Shoes are removed and youre provided with slip on one time use booties if youd like. Everyone must sign a waiver and sanitize their hands before going inside. There is a small rack up front to hang your belongings. There is 1 unisex bathroom. Overall, this place would be okay if youre looking to adopt a cat and check out their personality with other cats. Otherwise, definitely not worth the cafe portion or anything else really. I was ready to leave way before my 30 minutes was up, but I stood there because that was the minimum time you could pay for.
I ordered a cat prayer candle for my daughter very last minute, never expecting it to arrive on time for Christmas. But it did! So that I would have it on time, it was hand delivered the day before Christmas to my home! My daughter, who BTW loves doing cat yoga at Meow Parlour, loved the candle! Thank you Meow Parlour! The candle with her cat’s photo was perfect and the extra effort to deliver it was much appreciated!
My absolute favorite place to get to play with kitties. I go from time to time with friends and the kittens and cats are just so cute. Everything is clean and organized, and most of the cats are pretty tame and just want love. The cafe thats attached to it has yummy treats such as macaroons and tea, lattes, coffee. They also have these delicious cookies that are to die for. I plan to adopt a cat eventually and would definitely adopt a cat from the Meow Parlour. I also was planning on doing my birthday party here, where you can play with cats and play bingo with your friends. Cute place to visit.
Weve been to a couple different cat cafes in NYC - but keep coming back to Meow Parlour. The people there obviously love cats and they are protective of them. This is good for you as well because they ensure the kitties and cats are free to roam and interact with whomever as opposed to being commandeered and/or hectored to one or two people. The cats and kitties are great - and theres a nice number and variety. Whether youre there just to, get your kitty fix or are considering adopting this is a great way to fulfill either. They provide detailed information about each cat available for adoption - and they are regularly getting new kittens and cats in. You can also qualify to Foster for them! There is also a great macaroni and coffee place next door from which you can order snacks. While weve been here a number of times this particular instance was to officially adopt our new kitten!
I love this place, and I visit every time Im in the city. The staff is friendly, the trinkets they sell are cute, and the cafe functions separately from the cat room, so if you just want to stop in the cafe for a snack, you can. Youll usually be with a few other people depending on the time of day, and there are lots of toys to play with the cats. If you love cats, definitely check this place out and support this great organization.
Lovely place for cat lovers. They have both kittens and cats when we were there. You pay for the entrance and 30 minutes, more time and youll pay a little extra. They also have drinks and something to munch on, which you pay for separately. They also have merch that you can buy. We really liked it, there were not too many people when we were there, which was great.
Friendly and funny staff with cuddly cats! Lots of cats and plenty to go around for a small crowd of customers. A quick warning: make sure you watch your time, as you may slip past the half hour allotment without noticing and end up spending a bit more. Also, bathrooms were super clean and the food is quite savory. Great work Meow Parlor!
Javascript:void(0);This is a really great little place. You make a reservation online, ($7/half hour), sign a waiver online (recommended to shorten check-in time), then arrive and check in, take your shoes off, order a beverage or snack from their cafe menu (which will be brought to you), use some hand sanitizer and then just go and hang out with a bunch of sweet adorable felines, all of which are looking for forever homes. You may stay longer than your booked half hour if you like, and just pay the extra at checkout.Even though there are a bunch of cats there, you hardly even see any cat fur -- not even on the floor! Of course its super clean and smells fresh, so clearly they keep on top of litter boxes, etc. There are platforms and tables and toys and floor cushions and you just decide where you want to be. As there should be, there are a few rules for behavior with the kitties, and the really friendly staff will tell you about them. We got some nice iced teas and met several of the kitties, including a little kitten who seemed a bit unsure of herself but yet didnt want to hide either. We sat near her a lot of the time to try and make her feel comfortable, especially after one of the staff said she had just joined them a couple of hours before! She was doing great. We also heard one of the staff talking with a few folks who were thinking about adopting or fostering a cat and we were pleased that the staff seemed to be so detail-oriented and careful about the process.
My boyfriend and I were excited to visit, and it was a last minute decision. Had I read through helpful comments before visiting Meow Parlor, I would have not gone. The pricing, $6 is a bit much for 30 minutes but they give you a six minute grace period before you get charged for more time. The no picking up cats rule is reasonable as all cats have different temperaments and you wouldnt like it if a stranger randomly manhandles you out of nowhere.Thirty minutes did not give me enough time with the cats and most of them were still sleeping. And I didnt want to disturb the sleeping cats. There werent enough toys for everyone there to play with the cats. There was a mean cat who was bullying the kittens, and some cats were nervous. The kittens were really skinny.I noticed there were board games on the tables but thirty minutes was not enough time to play a whole game of cat o poly. The place had such a creative design, but it did not feel like a cafe. I expected to relax, not worry about a time limit, actually buy a coffee in the place, read a book whilst cats hung out around us and occasionally interact with them.I could do all of that for free when I visit my friends house, and the kitten there is such a sweetheart.
Two stars for really cute kitties even though some were sleeping and didn’t really react to touches or games.Stayed at the souvenir corner for a couple of minutes deciding what to buy and the staff charged us another 8 dollars because well, you’re obviously in the second session. But me and my friend weren’t playing with cats during that few minutes and there were no notifications to let us prepare for leaving. So if you’re ready to see relatively inactive cats (around 6-8) for 8 dollars just for 30 minutes, you better get your butt out of the place before time’s up.
Friendly staff. Cats were pretty friendly but theyre mostly shelter cats so mileage will vary. When we arrived nobody was there and then suddenly a lot of people showed up. I figured staff would make some people wait since none had reservations but they just let everyone in and it got crowded and impossible to hang out with the cats.Would have stayed longer otherwise.
I came here twice and I definitely love the idea of a cat cafe! It’s very sweet to see a place for cats to be in and be able to interact and engage with people. All of the workers are very friendly and very informative if you ask them any questions! The place is also very clean. My reason for giving it 3 stars however is really isn’t a “cafe” environment. There is not that much seating to sit in. It’s quite small and feels a little packed to hangout and chat with friends. If anything it’s almost a tad awkward... the drinks were very average and there isn’t much of a menu option. This is much more of a place to come to hangout with cats specifically or to come to adopt. I wouldn’t recommend this as a hangout spot/cafe place.
Had a nice time at this location with my daughter who LOVES cats. The place was very clean, they have understandably strict rules but its for the felines protection which I like and the admission is definitely reasonable. Cats are SO comfortable, clean and happy here. Id definitely go again.
That food in pictures? Doesn’t really exist, not even on the menu. They should take it down. My friends and I were celebrating a birthday so our plan was to get any kind of dessert (no candles of course for the cats’ safety!) but the only thing they have are macaroons and other dry dessert. Kittens are cute to watch playing but I was hoping they’d be a little older so they’d want more human interaction, petting...etc. They didn’t provide anything that isn’t already offered for free by any animal shelter.
I was visiting NYC with my girlfriend and the Meow Parlour was one of the most exciting things in our to-do list. Or at least that is what we thought. The place is small and it stinks of vet / cats disposals. I even started feeling dizzy at a certain point. The staff is not very kind and they only interact to present and / or enforce rules. The cats -which are of course the main point of this place- were sleeping the whole time. There were 10 cats and 8 of them were in an almost catatonic state. The staff response was that they sleep up to 16 hours a day. I have had cats all my life and I know they sleep a lot, but these kittens were completely OUT. They didnt respond to petting or anything. We assumed that it must have been because of medical conditions and drugs. Anyway, do not expect to play a lot or do anything else than petting inanimate balls of fur.TL;DR: Small place with not so kind staff and stoned cats that sleep all day. No chance of playing. If you have experience with cats, this is a complete bummer. Will not come back nor recommend.
If you like cats and youre in lower Manhattan, this is a must visit! They have around 13-15 cats, from which some were kittens during my visit😻 All cats I met were very approachable, although you may not pick them up. But thats for the cats best interest and shouldnt be a problem. Furthermore the staff was very friendly and the coffee was good.
A fun place. Slightly crowded for the tiny space and number of cats available, but otherwise awesome selection of kitty toys, kind staff, and great cats. A lot of the cats are rescues, so theyre quite shy and dont interact with humans much -- which is fine of course, but something to keep in mind if youre looking for serious quality time with cats. Expect to do more cat-watching than petting depending on whos out to play that day.
Cute but I️ wanted more. First, reservations are highly recommended (and very easy to make online). Price was a surprisingly reasonable $6 for 30 minutes of kitty play time. The cats were adorable and mostly friends (cats, of course, are their boss). Despite having a purrfect logo and brand, the merchandise and very small retail shelf felt like a complete afterthought. I️ would have easily spent more money here if there was more to buy.
Its an Awesome experience for anyone who loves cats! My tip is to grab some snacks over at the Meow Parlour patisserie,( located on the left hand side of the building) bring them back to the Parlor and have fun while you play with cats. If you really loved playing with one of the cats, you can adopt them because theyre rescues. Which makes it amazing because not only are you being able to connect and play with them but you can also see if this cat is right for you. 😺🍪☕
I had an awesome time at the cafe. Although at first most of the cats were just sleeping and no one wanted to play, later they all woke up and played like crazy. The two black kittens were so adorable. Theyre all precious. I would love to go there again. Its $6 for half an hour on weekdays, and any extra half hour is $6.5 each. I suggest reserving online.
I have been here twice with my little sisters who love cats. I will definitely go again. I really like this place but my one criticism is that they let way too many people in at once. There are usually only about 10 cats here and when there are more people than that not everyone is able to pet the cats- which is annoying when you have to stand there waiting to pet cats when you pay for a half an hour at a time. Also with so many people in there you can see the cats getting visibly irritated and impatient. It would be nice if they limited the people more.
The cats are so cute. Theres a wide variety of toys you can use to play with the cats, theres board games if you just want to relax, theres comfy beanbag chairs. The employees are enthusiastic about their work and easily approachable. They know the history and personality of each cat, and can recommend the right cat to befriend whether you want to play, snuggle or take a nap. The food is also really good!
We can only evaluate the utility of this place. In addition to a good moment your helping the animal fight by financially sustaining their shelter. The cafe belong to an association which provide shelter for abandoned cats. The entry is pretty expensive but the coffee is cheap. You need to pay every 30 minutes to stay (around 6$). I thinks its a good place for people who dont have cat and lovers. Its expensive but its for a good reason so go know and try it.
Great concept that they try to get the cats adopted. I wish they sold cat treats to feed the cats so you could get more interaction. Espresso machine was broken when we visited, but they still had plenty of selection. They work closely with the cafe next door for refreshments. I didnt realize a macaroon cost so much. As well as cookies. We were there for a birthday party for teenager. All teena had fun.
A cute (and TINY!) cat cafe. This was my first experience at a cat cafe and I loved the bean bags on the floor where you can chill with the cats. I wanted to order some macarons, but they were not clear that they stopped serving them a half-hour (or was it an hour?) before close. When I went they had three kittens which was an amazing experience. I also had the pleasure to see a cat get adopted while I was there. I appreciate their mission of rescuing cats.
This place is simply amazing. You can have food and coffee delivered while you play with adorable cats. You can adopt ALL the cats here. Each and everyone. The staff is wonderful and its a perfect spot to check off your list especially if youre on vacation. Make sure you check their hours and especially, if you have kids, the kids hours!
I made the decision to come here with my cousin who was visiting from Iowa around this time on Jan 9th, 2018. From first glance, the little hub is easy to miss if youre looking from the outside. But when you step inside, its very colorful, peaceful, and there is cat furniture everywhere. They provide a clothing rack with nice wood hangers to hang up your outer wear and cubbies to take your shoes off. The staff is very sweet and straight forward. They provide regulations and terms and conditions that we must abide by to have our sessions with the cats, which are perfect and fair. For every 30 minutes, it is $6 per person. Pretty affordable and fair for visitors or regulars. Any drink or pastry you decide to order, they bring from the actual cafe next door. Im not sure if they mark up the prices when you order from the cat hub compared to if youre in the next door cafe, though. Anyways, before you enter they have a recorded time card for each person and they make it very clear that they hold you responsible for keeping track of the time, which is fair. The place is clean, and cute, and also quiet. The cats they have are all spayed/neutered, and they provide names and profiles for each cat in the cat cafes guide book. These arent your regular American Domestic Cat Breeds that many people have though. These cats are taller, and slightly skinnier, and its very obvious that all of these cats are rescues. One thing I noticed with all of the cats were they were so calm and gentle, sometimes feisty and aggresively playful, but not of crazy behavior to get concerned over. There was one cat, named Valentina, that I LOVED ever so dearly because she was active from the moment I got there, to the moment that I left. She was super playful and isnt afraid to play fight and act like a little demon. Given the way the cats looked, they seemed skinnier than cats that Ive seen in my neighborhood, but not emaciated. Im not necessarily qualified to say that I would be concerned for their health, because they all looked and acted healthy. Going forward, I do think its awesome that each cat is adoptable. I do see that the staff knows how to love and handle each of these cats, which is awesome and it makes me feel comfortable to visit this place. All in all, I give this cat cafe four stars. Would definitely come and visit again and I do recommend others to come and visit and even consider adopting these furry munchkins.
Its a wonderful way of supporting cat rescue and theres clearly a lot of care taken with the premises so as cat owners we were keen to visit and support it. So was quite surprised and disappointed to feel so unwelcome as soon as we entered. I suspect the staff genuinely dont realise the vibe they create but they really could do with smiling at their customers and not making them feel like a burden. If youre really keen to get up close with some lovely rescue cats then great but be warned that itll be a fairly sombre affair.
We came from New Jersey because my daughter wanted to go to this place before we going back to Colombia. We did not make a reservation but the guy told us it was ok and then he asked for my daughter age and I accidentally said 8 because my English is not good enough and he refuse to let us in and he was very rude when I tried to explain that she is 10 . We were very disappointed and my daughter was very upset. This worker did not want to collaborate with us and was rude and practically kick us out from the cafe. There was no reasonable explanation about not letting us in, he said there was a schedule for kids but the place did not seem crowded or even packed. We had such a bad experience and we honestly thought he could have been more helpful. We finally went to cat cafe in Brooklyn, great place, staff was fine and we certainly will never go back to this place. Anymore!
Loved that I was able to play with cats for a time. However most of the cats seemed sick so I felt kind of bad for them. One sneezed on a customer and got snot on them. A couple others had snotty noses and sleep in their eyes. But I guess thats to be expected when lots of people are coming in everyday to pet them. However still had a nice time and they have alcohol disinfectant. The kittens were happy to have someone to play with and I was happy to play with them.
LOVED the idea of this, as its a great way to show off pets for adoption! Staff was very helpful and friendly and I had such a great time playing with the cats there! Merch is reasonably priced and its such a fun CATmosphere ❤ cafe right next store to sit and wait for your booked time and the staff there lets you know when you can head over. Definitely reccomend this place!
I got my cat fix and coffee fix all in the same place. The cats were adorable and the staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed for an hour and met all the kitties. The rest of the customers seemed really kind and enthusiastic about the cats. Definitely one of my favorite NY moments.
Beautiful space 😻 so many cats to pet and love on, they were all really sweet, many of them were sleeping but were gentle and allowed you to pet them without a care. Lots of toys and nooks to play with cats and kittens. The cafe was well stocked with delicious cat shaped macaroons and shortbread, good New Orleans style iced coffee and tea lattes and espresso, and they had a lot of cute cat shirts and socks and buttons and all kinds of items for sale to support the kitties! The staff was attentive and would tell you the backstory of the cats you were playing with so you could understand more about their needs. I found it fascinating that cats can have cerebral palsy ! I saw two cats there, a brother and sister, born that way and it was both fascinating and adorable and sad all at once, they moved around so funny but they were really sweet 😻 it makes you really wish you could adopt all the kitties!! Especially the ones with special needs that need lots of patience and loving and a stable environment :) big thumbs up to this place for educating, loving and supporting these kitties and making such a cute and welcome space for visitors to interact with the kitties!! ❤️❤️❤️🙏
Very nice place. 1:1 human:cat ratio. Even though these cats are often older and free for adoption, they are very calm, like to be cuddled and play a lot. Expected them to be more shy ;) Cuddled a long time with a beautiful tiger :) This place is even open for disabled people in wheel chairs.
Didn’t come here for the humans but the staff were nice and friendly lol. Cats were friendly, approachable and interested in playing with people. Cats were all types and sizes. Great experience and def coming back. Go early, didn’t need a reservation when it opened and the cats will be more likely to play and interested in playing with you then later in the day.
If your a cat lover and like playing with them then this ambience makes it feel like home. I loved the way meow parlour staff took care of each cat, they make sure even we feel comfortable with the surroundings. This place also has some cute fine cat accessories to purchase on. Definitely gonna visit soon.
When you walk in you take off your shoes and feel like youve entered a Japanese home. The lighting is warm and the floor is clean so you can sit down to interact with the cats. There are innovative nooks where cats may be hiding, and comfortable pillows to sit down and relax. For those accustomed to having cats, Meow Parlour is a setting for those who for some reason cannot have one in their home. For others who have never had one, you should be warned that its less of a petting zoo and more of an adoption center in a comfortable environment. To take maximum advantage of the experience, I recommend you set your expectations. The cats will not all fight to jump in your lap. Cats sleep 16 hours a day in short naps and are most active around dusk and dawn. So when youre there, its best to observe and ask staff how best to interact with them as they know each cats personalities.
Honestly? The kitties seemed emaciated. We brought small cookies from the Macaroon and the cats came like sparrows. Despite the rules, I allowed one tomcat to steal one. He ate it all, trembling, and licked even the crumbs from the floor. He seemed really hungry. Another small tiger kitty was so skinny I could see its bones. It broke my heart. Most of them were sleeping and I am glad that they do have toys and cozy places to nap and they are in from the streets. I just wish they were fed better and not look so starved. There was an ad for donation on the door that for $ 2 you can get a snack - to take home, not to fatten our kitties exact quote. Well those kittens need to be fatten! If the place cant afford it, Im sure guests would be happy to help.Other than that...the cookies were really tasty but very small. At $ 2.50 that is fair though. I wish there was a larger size available. Very cute in shape of kitty head. You can order with the front desk and they get it delivered from next door. Which is convenient.I liked the place but those kitties need to look better fed. Maybe even add different breeds. Great concept, but there is room for improvements.
When we were got to the cafe there were more people than cats, and whats worse was that 5 out of the 8 cats were sleeping, so we ended up only playing with the cats for 10 minutes before our reservation was up.Would not recommend this, probably the other cat cafes are more organized.
I’m not a cat guy, but my friend is, so we decided to visit. The reservation system seems unnecessary and probably inhibits a lot of people who stand to benefit from the joy cats bring (which isn’t the point of cat cafes?)The cats also seemed super unhappy. And the place smelled pretty bad.Recommendations to management: 1) explore ways to accommodate walk-ins, 2) provide happier environment for patrons and cats.
Kind of a cool and unusual way to spend an afternoon, but we found it kind of underwhelming. Apparently a kids hour had just wrapped up at our scheduled time, and it was clear the cats were all a little bit stressed by the experience. Even the staff member at the desk spoke vociferously against the idea of having a kids hour. Anyway, my expectations were low, and it was kind of a cool experience. I did not get the sense the cats were mistreated in any way, by the kids or otherwise, and all the cats are adoptable rescue animals, which is very cool. A unique experience thats worth trying, but try to keep your expectations to a minimum.
The space is small but cute! The cats are adorable, and just as cute! Only downside is the staff. The gentleman there was very nice and talkative about the cats and friendly towards everyone. The lady at the desk, however, was not that nice. She was grumpy that we were a group larger than 5 and you could tell she was annoyed in her tone of voice. We had 7 people, but we were all quiet and respectful of everyone and the cats around us. It was unprofessional to speak to us that way. Next time, if we have more than 5 people, we just wont go.
A reservation is fully necessary here. You will not get in without one and just have all your time wasted waiting for an improper time estimate. The cats are cute and its a nice place but we didnt get to see them because we were told to wait half an hour; we waited 45 minutes and were then told we wouldnt be able to come in for another hour. We had stuff to do and apparently could have made a reservation a few hours in advance- would have appreciated an update or better instructions. Theres just no need for scheduling to be such a disaster.
The cats were sweet and cute, but dont expect them to be all cuddly with you. One member if the staff was very rude. The cafe is a separate building for health reasons, but is just across the street! Its 6 bucks for a half hour, and if you go even a minute over expect them to charge you for an extra half hour. Its $125 to adopt a cat. The cafe has Starbucks-like prices
I think the price at about $7 per 30min is pretty fair as they have to make sure that all cats are in their best health condition. All cats are cut, fluffy and friendly. I love them all, especially Gene Parmesan and Butter. Fortunately, Butter had already been adopted.
This cafe provides a very calm and relaxing environment just to unwind and play with some cats. Come in the afternoon to just chill and pet some cats. The evenings are better if you want to actually play with some cats. The food is sort of pricy, but you dont typically come to a cat cafe for the food.
Ok if you have played a lot with cats already this place is not all that exciting. The cats are not that playful and mostly just sleep. And the people working there get mad when you get active with the cats as you are only allowed to pet them. Also there arent that many cats around compared to how many people there are. So yeah its only fun if you have rarely played with cats and want to experience it
I cant say its been a very positive/exciting experience I would like to repeat there... Sorry...My brother and I drove ok on CitiBikes all the way from central park to come see this cafe.We arrived there and most cats were just sleeping all the time. The ones awake were already taken by the people who were there already... Eventually we had about 5 minutes of play with the awake ones and they were not so keen to play...The staff is nice enough and made us enter even though we didnt have a reservation. And the cause is very nice.Maybe going early might improve things, but Im not sure...
All the cats seemed a tad fed up with people touching them. But, they seemed to like the employees, which tells me that they are very loving to the people who they know a bit more.Besides that they LOVED to play. You wont enjoy yourself if you just wait for a cat to approach you and pet it.The big white cat has trouble interacting with the other cats, so, it has a bit of a temper and seems grumpy. But, Im sure he was just having a bad day when I went.
I visited the cafe yesterday. I love cats but I have mixed feelings about the place. Almost all the cats seemed agitated and nervous and people visiting just don’t get it. Everyone kept waking up a lovely kitten to pet her when she was trying to sleep. We later found out she had just been spayed the day before, she was also born with a deformed leg. It is just unreasonable of people who claim to love cats to wake up the sleeping cats, shove toys in their faces and expect them to play and be responsive. The staff (especially the guy) behaves arrogant and superior, I feel they can do more to keep the cats calm and limit the number of people visiting at a time. Also increase the time to one hour vs. 30 mins. 30 mins is really chaotic and adds to the nervousness of the cats with the number of people going in and out.Pros: good decor, toys and perches for the cats even though the place is tiny. The main thing is this is better than the cats being in shelters and on the streets and that adoptions happen from here. I hope more of these beautiful cats find good homes. I appreciate the meow team for trying. And for people visiting-if you really love cats, please go there to support what meow is doing and just be happy to be around the cats instead of forcing them to get close to you and love you in 30 mins / or waking them up to take pictures just so you can get some likes on fb.
This place judge you by your clothes they don’t care about your personality they give you an appointment so they can make money from the appointment and when they reject your application they do it after you pay for the appointment they don’t reject application before
$6.50 for half hour to hang out with the cats. You pay when you leave, and you need to keep track of your own time if you dont want to pay more than$6.50. It is $125 to adopt a cat. If you prefer a FIV negative cat, you need to make it clear. If you want to adopt a kitten younger than 6 months old, you need to either have a cat already at home or adopt 2 kittens at once. You will need to sign a waiver to enter the cafe, which you need to share your personal information like name, email and address. It is up to you if the information is accurate. I personally dont know why they need info more than a name.
This was a cool thing to do, and they take walk-ins which is nice. Their macaroons were delicious. But you cant pick up the cats, which I understand because they have so many people coming through at once that they probably get tired of it. I went to one in Philly and you could pick them up so I guess thats why I expected to be able to do that here.
First of all, the place smelled TERRIBLE. It was impossible to order coffee let alone FOOD. I was gagging at the thought of smelling cat poop in the next room and eating a coffee cake. I went to a cat cafe in japan and San Francisco and they were completely different. Clean, well groomed and fed cats. This place was not that at all.The staff seemed a bit incompetent- rather cat lovers than cat owners. And the cats themselves seemed confused and upset. It just seems like a bunch of kids in a store taking care of random street cats.
They make the place looks very welcoming. The coffee, and food here is a little disappointing. I guess it is worth it just for cat encounter. I would recommend to reduce the cat odor inside the parlor. All deco are adorable but there are still possibilities to improve. I hope they will see the flaws
The cats are cute, but the layout of the place could be improved. I suspect bec real estate is so expensive, there werent that many cats. And of the cats there, none seemed interested or affectionate. Im a major cat lover, and I know theyre not like does, but they just didnt seem socialized to me. I appreciate and applaud the efforts of the ppl who keep this place going.
I traveled all the way here on a hot August day with my two young kids after finding it on Google. When we walked in, an unfriendly person opened the window and tersely greeted us with the message that we were not welcome at this time. She told us about the special kids hours as though we should have known and unceremoniously closed the window.I can understand special policies, but these seemed extreme and were delivered with no sympathy at all.
Wow just read a lot of the bad reviews about this place and thank God I did. Never made reservations nor attempted to go inside. I just passed by with my bf and stopped to looked at the kitty cat napping by the store window. But the staffs at the front desk inside turned their heads and stared at us with frowns and grumpy looks. Well let say that was an awkward moment and we sensed that this Meow place give off negative vibes and dark energy. I rather go to a real animal shelter to adopt a cat and not this place with overbearing rules and really bad vibes. It should be called Hoity Toity Parlour instead.
Apparently, you need a reservation to get in here, or at least into the part where the cats all are. A walk-in is $20 for only 20-30 minutes which is a rip-off. The bakery itself was not impressive either and the pastries were meh. The staff were also quite rude and snarky. Its too bad, me and my girlfriend were really looking forward to this one.

2022-05-22What a terrific cat-cafe.It’s also good that customers can adopt the kitties.I didn’t go in only because I did t have a reservation, which is fine, I get it. My only issue with the reservation system is it doesn’t really accommodate visitors to the city. This is more of a local place.Very clean and open concept.Staff are super nice.Hey, if I loved in the city I’d be down here as much as possible.

2022-09-08Love cats? You should visit. Not sure if you love cats? You should come meet some here! All cats are adoptable, but even if you cant adopt, coming here is beneficial to keep the kitties socialized and playing with humans, with funds helping to care for them. Beneficial for the humans too - pausing to watch cats sleep, play or pet them is just heavenly. The facility is very clean- you wouldnt know there are multiple cats with the filtration units. The cats have the freedom to come and go, above people on pathways, cat trees, cubbys and shelves, or totally away through a discreet exit.Make sure to wear shoes that are easy to remove all youll need to take them off on entering, as well as sanitize your hands. As of this post, due to popularity, you need to make a reservation online for a 50 minute hangout. Worth a visit!

2022-05-11Spectacular cat cafe! The cats are amazing! So ridiculously cute, cuddly and friendly. They are very well taken care of. The place is very clean. The staff is very friendly. If you like cat cafes you have to check this place out. The cats are available for adoption too. What a great idea to see if you bond with a cat before adopting! I highly recommend this place!

2022-04-06This cat cafe is the best!! It’s more like a kitten cafe. The cats are super playful, friendly, kind, and adorable. Claire particularly is one of the sweetest cats I’ve met. The place is really clean and I would suggest to book ahead of time before coming here since it’s always sold out.

2022-09-05Ridiculously cute kittens. Such friendly staff. What a great experience to meet some adorable felines and perhaps consider adopting one or more. Anyone who’s a cat lover or potential cat lover should come by. And the cafe next door is terrific too.

2022-05-23Such a Great place to hang out with cute kitties. The place is clean and the cats are very playful. They have toys that you can use to play with kitties. They also have cats available for adoption if youre looking for that. I will definitely visit again .

2022-04-27First time visiting a cat café. The café part of the place is... serviceable, but of course you came for the cats.Place was a little more cramped than we anticipated, and a few of the guests hogged some of the cats (though I dont necessarily fault the staff for the latter), but we had a nice time. Meow Parlour is reservation-only and they make you take your shoes off upon entry, so wear socks. All of the cats are lovely, adorable and eligible for adoption. Great place for cat lovers and (well-behaved) families.

2022-08-02I literally fell in love with every single cat there. They were all so tiny and cute. The workers there were also very nice and helpful. They make you sign a waiver before going in and then proceed with the rules they have when hanging out with the cats. I wish I had gone earlier though because when I went with my boyfriend at 3:00-3:50pm, most of the cats were already taking their naps. Though, I still recommend coming here to admire all the little fur babies.

2022-07-17A small but cute place to hang with adoptable cats. You need to set a reservation on their site first before going in. A lot of the cats do not like or react to getting pet. The main experience is play, so if youre fine with that, go for it!Theres also sweets and drinks you can purchase, as well as merchandise if you want to support the cafe more.

2022-06-25Extremely relaxing and calming atmosphere. I think the employees there do a great job of maintaining as well as introducing the cat space to visitors. This was my first time there and it was a pleasure. The kittens loved the front desk employee and would meow and touch them affectionately so I know for sure they treat the felines well there. Would love to visit again.
