Mercato in other cities:
Amazing restaurant in the middle of the city, perfect atmosphere, food incredible the service was gorgeous the Italian waitress so friendly, helpful and attentive make me feel in Bella Italy during my time in the restaurant music perfect and lovely deserts Definitely I’ll back
It is very popular and I like the ambience of a very tight squeeze to liven the atmosphere.Didnt like the food and wine though. Maybe it is just me. The tiramisu is excellent and I like the way they made it. We paid usd132 for 2 pax (including a 15% tip).If you wish to go, better book in advanced as it is very crowded.
Highly recommended to people who want to get discrimination and uncomfortable memory. Worst experience in NYC.When my wife and I firstly came to the restuarants for late dinner, the first thing greeting me was unwelcomed attitude. The person firstly guided us to the table too close to other people. After I pointed out, after some pause, I was guided to proper seat. It was unpleasant reaction and facial gesture that Ive never experienced, so I was not sure if it was discrimination. However, I made sure from another experience. Weve ordered two different glasses of wine during dinner. My wife saw a bartender had mixed the wines. She, the bartender, poured the ordered wine to a glass around 50%, and poured and mixed another ordered wine to that glass. The worst thing is.. she saw my wife seeing her, and she just brought the glasses to our table. I cannot imagine how huge my wife felt humiliation. I was working in urgency due to different timeline, so my wife didnt say not to disturb. I should have complained about, and its regrettable moment by now.I have never encountered this kinds of reactions from other restaurants. Maybe it couldnt be discrimination, just lack of service mindset or morality, but I can see similar experiences on discrimination from other reviews. The funny thing is the food was not bad; one of them was good in that middle. Other servers were kind, except two people; a male (seems as owner of restaurant) and a bartender/waitress.I cannot believe this restaurant still survive among the good restaurants in the most famous city. Hope to make better choice.
Great Italian restaurant with quality food and tasty cocktails. We came here Friday night for a quick dinner and were seated immediately. They kicked off service with a small bread basket with olive oil and capers -- very nice. The entree portions were a bit on the small side, but the quality made up for it. All around, this is a nice restaurant, and I will definitely be back if Im around the area.Fettuccine Ai Funghi - An all-around light and simple pasta done very well. The pasta was cooked to perfection and went well with the mushrooms, which were bursts of flavor in every bite. I could eat this pasta all day; it was delicious.Gnocchi Ragu - This was a somewhat heartier dish with some great flavor from the meat sauce. This dish was solid and definitely a good choice for the night.Cocktails - We had the Singapore Sling and the Bucintoro. For both the price and taste, the Singapore Sling was a much better deal (potent and substantial, yet akin to juice). The Bucintoro was good, but it needed to be larger than flute-sized to justify the price.Price: 4/5Quality: 5/5Quantity: 3/5Service: 4/5Atmosphere: 4/5
Wonderful and friendly service. Quality of food was just mediocre. For $20 a plate, I expected more subtle flavors. I could have easily cooked this meal. The atmosphere was lovely and again, service was genuine and friendly, but expected much better food for the price.
Underwhelmed when I expected much more because of the good reviews. The fresh-made pasta still makes the visit worthwhile. It always gives appetite when they serve good quality olive oil and bread. A solid option when the sudden crave for comfy food hits after a long exhausting week. Sitting down at a small table. Nothing too fancy. Delicious pasta.
Small cozy restaurant with big flavors! The trenette al pesto doesn’t look like your typical green pesto dish and I thought it was the wrong order at first. Each bite has a nice al dente texture and a distinct pesto and tomato flavor. I haven’t tried that combo before but it really worked out well and I absolutely loved it! The mushroom fettuccine was also not bad. Comes with LOTS of mushroom!
Decor was lovely, what I would hope for in a small Italian restaurant in Manhattan. Service was wonderful. That said, I feel like the pasta we ordered had been sitting in the pot for hours. Extremely dry, very little sauce. I felt like I was eating leftovers. Unfortunately this was my first night in Manhattan ever, so I was a little disappointed and underwhelmed. Not saying I wouldn’t try it again but it’s not in my plans to go back. Too many other places to try!
Great dinner experience!Appetizers were really good and it was great that the waitress recommended the fried artichoke – everybody loved it.Mains were tasty too – although I think my tagliata could have been more tender. They have a good wine selection and the Agliatico I ordered was pretty good. All in all I think Ill go back next time Im in NYC.
I would travel from South Jersey just to eat here. Our waitress Casiana (hopefully I didnt butcher the spelling) was absolutely the sweetest. Had a 11:15p reservation and it was close to closing but appreciated that we didnt feel rushed to order and eat.Bread and oil came out in the beginning. Very unique lentil/caper pairing.Bruschetta was out of this WORLD.My cousin and I both ordered pasta dishes and they were incredible, we kept trying each others because we couldnt decide whos was better.Tiramisu was delicious. Im not sure if they make their desserts in house, but it was so good.I love how small and intimate the ambiance is. Some reviews say its a bit small but I love that feel. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.
One of my favorite Italian spots in Manhattan ! Always love coming here, the food is homemade and fresh and the service is great as well. 4.5 stars because they still haven’t added back specials due to covid but I will give a 5 star regardless. I hope they eventually start having specials again!
Such a great place, very cozy and so tasty drinks. The food was amazing and the plates are huge. I went out with my friend. So we ordered GNOCCHI AL RAGU DI MANZO E MAIALE, LASAGNA TRADIZIONALE and BRUSCHETTA. We could not even finish our pasta because it was a lot. And we asked a bartender for drinks: non alcoholic and sweet. It was amazing! Definitely recommend.
This is the worst Italian restaurant I’ve ever had. Everything was extremely salty and overseasoned. When I told the waitress how I didn’t like the food because it was way too salty, she gave me this look and said this is how the food should be and didn’t make any effort to change dish or redo the dish. It was a disappointment and honestly if anyone wants to try authentic Italian food, please come to CA instead.
I ate here a few weeks ago. I had the pasta with the mushrooms mainly to make the “fun guy” joke (there were so many mushrooms it was a lot)but it ended up being an excellent vegetarian option. The staff was super friendly and accommodating to my group. It was kind of dark inside but it was a vibe.
Clean, friendly, cute interior but the food was meh. Bland and drenched in too much oil yet nk flavour. I looked up handmade pastas because I was craving a good pasta for dinner. I can tell it was handmade but I think it’s also frozen after being made because you could taste it. I had caprese (mozzerella was very flavourless and oil had no real flavor either). And the fettuccine for my main. It’s hard to find a good place when you’re only here visiting one night so I feel disappointed.
Was really glad to have stumbled here by accident, as our original restaurant plan was too packed! We sat at the bar which was way more cozy than expected, and the bartender recommended some awesome wine and other choices to go along with the meal. There were also more offerings of sardines and anchovies than I had expected for a small restaurant, it was a very pleasant surprise and highly recommend these dishes to anyone that comes here!
Had a dinner here with my family, we had a toddler and im pregnant. my husband asked the server for an extra chair to put our bags on but she refused to give it to us! my husband had to explain that we need one more chair cause i couldnt hold my bag and eating at the same time.... so the server she gave the chair to us but she said that she not sure we can keep it until we finish 🤷🏻♀️. and when we done, there still no one that need that chairterrible terrible servicefood was just ok nothing specialnever come back again for sure!
The place is nice and clean... staffs some are friendly and some not. When we arrived and saw the label 2018 Michelin in front of the door we thought we will have a great meals.. but when they brought the bread and olive oil.. the bread was cold.. We asked them to warm and they didn’t want to do it. The seafood soup was too salty, the ravioli wasn’t al dente and the gnocchi too much minced meat.Lasagna and Fettuccine were great. We saw others tables also didn’t have all their meals... so means their foods didn’t so great. If were great everybody will eat all their food.Prices are not cheap for this quality of dishes. You should get better in other restaurants or you can have a better quality. REALLY NOT WORTH IT FOR THE MONEY WE SPENT HERE!!!
Totally perfect food, cozy atmosphere, and charming hospitality. You can tell there are people from Italy behind this establishment. Each dish—the almond pesto with homemade pasta and the ravioli with sage butter sauce had a perfect subtlety of flavor. Perfectly balanced and delicious from appetizer to dessert. This is also a great location—don’t let the temporary scaffolding in front of the building hide it!
Bread/dipping sauce was just OKArugula Salad was delicious and good size for a starterRavioli was Five Star, tasted homemade and ricotta spinach filling was complemented perfectly with a butter type sauceGnocchi very good as well! Great classicAlmond dessert was a little too tart but overall good
This place always showed up first whenever I use the google maps to look for a place to eat. So after awhile we decided to give it a try.Was pleasantly surprised. Food was good and service was excellent. Will definitely be coming by again. Just one complaint would be the seating area in the front was a bit too squished. Had to wait till another customer was finished putting in his jacket and then zipping it up (which he had trouble with) before I could get up and leave.
Found this great Italian restaurant hidden away on 39th across from a couple hotels. I didnt have high expectations going in but was pleasantly surprised. The place was busy on a midweek night so reservations are probably a good idea.Service was quick and polite, the food came quickly and was very warm. The complimentary bread came with a dip that was outstanding. I ordered the gnocchi which had excellent texture - not too hard or mushy. The meat sauce on it was plentiful. The panna cotta dessert was also excellent. The price for the food was reasonable.Definitely recommend eating here if you are in the area.
It was our last night in NYC and we just went for a drink out of the convenience of it being next to our hotel. Surprisingly it has very good atmosphere and the best customer service we have had experienced in that whole trip. The lady hostess that night really made our night. Would love to go back there again when I am back in town next time
Got the octopus because so many recommended it. The octopus quality was good but I was not a fan of the flavor. I would not reorder this. The pork belly and cabbage potato cake was delicious. Highly recommended. The gnocchi with meat ragu was ok. A little bland. Reminded me of Chef Boyardee ravioli...The tiramisu was sooooo good. However, Ive never had tiramisu before in my life so dont know how it compares. I would come back for this though.Update: Their tiramisu got me hooked onto tiramisu and I have flown all over the country trying tiramisu and none have been as good so far...
Dined at Mercato with my boyfriend this week and we were blown away with the authenticity of the Italian food. I ordered the lasagna -it was perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing! We also tried the rigatoni norma and it was soooo good, all ingredients are so fresh and the dish was so flavorful! We will definitely come back the next time we are in midtown. Awesome staff and nice vibe inside :)
Next to HeavenThis is indeed one the best Italians ever. Not only food is fantastic and flavor authentic but personnel is super friendly, helpful and effective. Damien, in addition to bartending took care of me with nice suggestions and prompt service. Beer, wine and food all authentic and absolutely delicious. Finally, place is cozy and beautiful.
Great food and service. Very comfortable intimate setting and true (home)Italian. A great choice if you are looking for a great place for dinner and drinks after a show as they are open later than most( 11pm I think). Spouse requires Gluten free and had a great seafood option. From hostess to bartender to waitperson all were very friendly and provided great service. Thank you to Giacomo, Bronilda and Paola. My wife and were here 3 years ago and it was wonderful again last night.
Came here 2 months back (after an UHmazing Drunk Shakespeare show) and we (group of 6) had to wait a bit despite having reservations. Once seated the food & drinks came pretty quick. I really wanted to like the lasagna but I found the flavors to be bland. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals and the place was still packed w people coming in after we left. Great atmosphere & excellent service.
First time at a Michelin star restaurant and boy it did not disappoint. I was delighted by the service and food. The waiter was acutely aware of everything on the menu including the special. The abeyance was terrific and the price was just right for that amount of food. Just Whoa WoW!
We were a group of 6 people, the service was very bad, the waiters made us hurry all the time, didn’t explain any of the prices or main courses, they just recommended the “special” ones (that turned out to be the most expensive ones) and then said that the 20% tip was included because we were a party of more than 5 people. Very loud. Pesto was too salty, cocktails were very bad. Wi-Fi didn’t work, so they brought us an old menu that wasn’t updated. Overall bad experience and overpriced. It’s not worthy of the price you’re paying at all.
We had no reservations but we were welcomed anyway. After a few minutes of waiting in an awkward spot and feeling in the way we were seated across the kitchen where the food came out, at the smallest table in NYC. My back was facing the kitchen with the walking path between us. There was so much traffic and bumping into me and my chair. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and the very impressive wine list. We ordered a bottle still and sparkling water and appetizers to begin our night. The water came in big bottles which took over our little table that had a lit candle on it, which gave it ambiance. Bread and olive oil for dipping was brought. Our calamari and mussels appetizers tasted very good, which got us excited for the main course. I had the Grouper special, which was not special but tasteless and bland. My guest had the Ravioli di Ricotta which we didnt like at all. Very underwhelming, very disappointing. The prices are high for what youre getting. We left the restaurant hungry and ordered what turned out to be great Pizza that night.
Do not go, it’s not worth your money or time.Me and my 5 friends were mislead by the workers there, we needed Wi-Fi to see the menu and the Wi-Fi there didn’t work so the waitress told us what to eat, turned out we end up paying 30$ per meal and the raviolis were literally 5 pieces in one plate... I’ve never felt so rushed by the waitresses to leave all the time. The cocktails were awful (literally tasted like pure alcohol).
An Italian hole-in-the-wall serving quality dishes with excellent flavor. We had the Rigatoni and the Gnocchi (pictured). Our only complaint was that the portions were very small if you werent also getting appetizers and desserts. Wed still return--just go in knowing you may need another course.
We had a 5:45 reservation, which was honored. Wife and I both had lasagne, it was good, no complaints. Service was also good, great server.Unfortunately we were originally seated in a back corner with built in benches. Combined with the table my thighs were touching its bottom and I felt about 3 feet above the surface of the tabletop. I asked our server if we could switch to a table with chairs, and (I assume) management accommodated the request, but we needed to be gone before 6:30.I understand the need for tables with large party reservations, there was a party of 6 finishing desert when we arrived split between chairs and benches with 3 combined tops. They were still socializing when we left at 6:15.I didnt feel like it was necessary to rush us through our meal because I requested a seating change.
Ugh! I hate having to give a bad review. The good was good and atmosphere was awesome! Upon arrival we were greeted with snotty attitude that lead me to believe we were not welcomed there. Without going into detail, Im just disappointed. Thank you for delicious food, hopefully thins young lady was just having an off night.
Excellent food. Really nice, small restaurant with great Italian food. I had the arugula salad and the fresh cod Mediterranea. The salad was flavorful and cod and the sauce it was in was beautifully flavored. My boyfriend got the meatball appetizer, which he loved, and the orechetti with broccoli rabe, which he also enjoyed. The pannacotta was really nice too.
Not what I expected ! First off , my friend ordered the lasagna.. how do you ruin lasagna?!!! over done!! It was mushy !! And no comp!! After complaining that food was not edible . My turn the special house fettuccini with burrata. Error !! The ingredients did not go well it did taste well with an unpleasant aftertaste … only saving quality the wine! dry martini good until you bite olives .. I’ll let your imagination take hold… will not be going back !!!! Sorry !! menu need updating and please someone taste food before it goes out !!! Please !! Even one star is too good .!!!
The waitress was totally rude. When we asked for a vegetarian menu, she acted like we were from outer space. The staff bumped into us 5 times. One can overlook some attitude issues if the food is worthwhile. However, from the lackluster appetizers without salt to the absolute worse brown butter sauce for the tasteless spinach ravioli. Nothing was appetizing. I have no idea how this place is still on the Michelin guide let alone still in business. With so many excellent choices for Italian in New York, Mercato should not be one of them.
Sad to say, I had higher hopes for this place. I saw some reviews in their IG page and figured Id try. We made a reservation for my birthday - just 2 people, no biggie. We did indicate in the reservation details. Unfortunately we got a waiter that was tired and very dry! I also had read that this place had specials and so I asked- our waiter was extremly dry and said they NEVER do daily specials. This felt like a get-in / get -out dinner time. My dish was tasty but I wanted to ask about the ingredients - though our waiter only came back towards the end of or dinner to ask if we wanted dessert and to bring the check. Not recommending this spot for a good-time dinner but rather a quick in & out spot. Much better restaurants to pick for such an important date: your birthday!
To be honest, I left Mercato unimpressed. The food lacked seasoning and could not muster the indulgence expected at an Italian restaurant. Pasta was cooked al dente but too my taste a little too much so where I thought it was somewhat raw. After having the gnocci and not having it, I went ahead to redeem my meal with the pomodoro. Also missed the mark. The basil flavor was lacking and the gnocci overall was underseasoned. Wine choice were substantial, service was decent. Tiny space up front, more room in the back although we were not given the option. Would choose elsewhere next time.
It’s is me and my husband one year anniversary. We came to this place just for drinks. We was seated very quickly, which was nice considering we didn’t make reservations. But than it took 10 minutes for anyone to come over to take our order. Let me remind you’ll it was just (drinks). So we thinking it will come back fast bcuz the place wasn’t packed. Nope 30 minutes later NO drinks. At this point we decided to leave. No one could careless. I would NEVER go back here ever again. Worst Worst Worst!! Please go spend your money somewhere, where you’re treated nicely.
Hidden Gem in Hells Kitchen .. Amazing , extremeley flavorful , rustic Italian Fare .. Service and Food was excellent. If ever in the area you will not be disappointed. The restaurant is Great! (Be aware of the surrounding area as unfortunately this street is one of many that has deteriorated) but the restaurant is highly recommended.
The place is super cute. The waitresses are quick and attentive. Got the fettuccine al funghi, no sauce with it really, very mushroomy, homemade pasta was a nice touch. Also got the linguine al frutti di mare, delicious, more of a watery sauce than creamy. Comes with a good variety of seafood. The bread was totally stale.
We happened upon Mercato accidentally just looking for somewhere to grab something light. We didnt have a reservation on a Saturday night but we were still immediately seated. We had the Spinach and Goat Cheese salad, Bruschetta, Tiramisu and the Semi Freddo. Everything was fresh and tasty (though the bruschetta could have used a little more seasoning.) Our waiter was great and super attentive. I would love to go back to try the pasta.
Such fantastic food! Generous portions! One of the best meals Ive had in ages--and pandemic notwithstanding.Seriously. Very reasonable prices, delicious, unique recipes, plenty of vegetarian options for those so inclined, fantastic staff... I could go on, but you should just go there instead! Cant wait to go back.
Pasta is really al dente, but was broken in small pieces, which is weird for spaghetti. Tomato sauce was very saulty and had big chunks of what looked like undercooked Roma tomatoes, and that wasnt very tasty. Lasagna was way better. Anyone who says portions are small, need to take a moment to reflect about their eating habits. The semifreddo was delicious, and the wine glasses were generously poured. The staff is efficient and attentive. I would definitely go back.
Itty bitty space, tables are very close together. but the ambiance is great, the service is fantastic, and the food was great! took my mother there for a birthday dinner, and had a delightful experience - did not feel at all rushed and comfortable to linger over dessert, instead of getting that turn and burn feeling many restaurants can give on a busy Friday night. portions were not huge as many classic red sauce Italian places are, but very delicious.
I always walk by and wanted to try this italian spot. Then finally i did. I was given a table and our server was very pleasant and helpfull. There is vegetarian options and the food came pretty quick. The drinks was pretty amazing as well. Not a place to walk by but a excellent place to dine in and have good Italian. I will be back!
Bad service, unfortunately. My first bad experience in NYC.The hostess greeted us with a genuine big smile and immediately set the tone for a lovely Italian dinner with my date, and got us the sparkling water I ordered right away. Then we waited - and finally our server shows up with a grouchy expression and says something so quietly I have to ask him to repeat, and he says “what do you want”. I try to lift the mood a little with a joke but get the same grouchy mean attitude back. Ok...so I say I want a salad. There was some back and forth, and as much as I want to blame language it wasn’t that - he didn’t confirm our order, just nodded that he understood what I wanted - then brought out two salads. When I pushed back saying that’s not what I wanted he said he would take it off the bill, don’t worry. Ok - so we ate it.The rest of the meal was fine (after my date and I recovered from that unpleasantness - the entire time he was haughty and demeaning). He did not come to check on us at all, my gf had to wave him down. Then came the check and the wrong salad is still on it. When I asked him about it he said well we ate it. At this point my blood is starting to boil a little bit. He then proceeds to lecture me in front of my date, going into a long winded explanation making things worse and worse until I finally stop him and just say run the card, we wanted to get out of there ASAP. I made sure to remember the name on the bill - Eddy. My gf suspects he is new. Either way he almost ruined our dining experience, which is literally the opposite of his job.+1 star for the tiramisu which was exceptional.
This place was phenomenal! Amazing authentic Italian. All homemade pasta. I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli in a butter sage sauce and I could have ordered another it was so good! The waitstaff was very friendly and super attentive. Over all 10/10 worth the wait! Make a reservation. AMAZING!!
Not your typical Italian restaurant. The food has this unique taste that stands out from the majority of Italian restaurants. The food is what you will typically find in the southern part of Italy, specifically Puglia. Tried the pasta menu item Trenette Al Pesto Trapanese for the first time and loved it. I will recommend this place to my friends and family.
Wow, just wow!! What a cute little cozy place this is! We went on a Thursday night and there was no wait which was nice. Our server was awesome, but the bar was slow in getting drinks out, that was the only disappointment. I had the lasagna which was a pretty large portion and quite delicious and my husband has the steak which was TO DIE FOR. He said it’s one of the best he’s ever had and was so juicy with tons of flavor! Highly recommend this little gem in nyc!
I enjoyed the style and decor of this restaurant. My greeting was friendly and all the staff were prompt and friendly. Our table shared all of our food and I didnt eat anything I didnt like. My main dish was a huge serving of lasagna that was both delicious and unique in how it melted in your mouth when you took a bite.Would go again.
Don’t regard $200 as good value for ordinary pasta , 2 cocktails and 2 drinks. They tried to put us in the middle of the floor, so I asked for a quieter seat so we were moved. Our waitress was not attentive. Seemed to spend most time chatting with the other staff . In fact the busboy paid us more attention... eg pepper and cheese not offered- we had to ask. Dessert VERY disappointing, but no offer of a replacement.
It is a cozy Italian restaurant with snug seating arrangements. I had their special, pork shank with marsala sauce and garlic mashed potatoes. It was almost cooked to perfection. It was a little dry in some pieces but moist and flavorful in other sections. The overall flavor was delicious. The garlic mash was very good as well but because some sections of the pork where dry the mash potatoes accentuated it. On top of the dry food they did not keep up on the drinks. The dessert I had a chocolate almond cake where he almonds where finely cooked ms baked into the cake making it taste like a brownie. The texture was amazing. Ice cream was on top of this and wow, that cake was amazing. Strange thing is I do not like chocolate cake with ice cream but this one I had to try at least once.
Quite cozy, so maybe not well suited for private conversations or big groups. Quick service. Food was good. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was flavorful. The guy reading specials told them in a very heavy Italian accent, so was very difficult to understand. For some reason most of NYC Italian restaurants seem to assume that people walking in would know Italian. The quality of the food is quite good and prices are reasonable too. Although I thought the wine at 13-14$ a glass was bit pricey.
Treated like second class citizens. We walked in, weren’t greeted nicely, when we were finally seated, they took more than 10 minutes to even acknowledge our presence. We seen each waiter and they constantly looked past our table as if we weren’t worthy of their service. When we finally got a waiter, he disrespected my father by telling him prices of dishes out loud as if he was warning us of their caliber. Then in the middle of me asking him questions about dishes, he left and went to serve another table after already receiving one order from the party. He didn’t look back or come back right away, it was blatant what he felt about my party of people. We are not loud and obnoxious, we were very respectful to their restaurant and were treated like dirt. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to spend money with these types of people. Everyone should be treated with respect, no matter what race, or background, and if I could give 0 Stars, I absolutely would.
Had an amazing experience here on the weekend of St.Patricks day! Dinner was absolutely fantastic and the staff were so kind and helpful! Came over from Ireland and weve recommended this place to everyone thats going over to NYC! Better food than our many trips to Italy! Cant wait to visit again
This restaurant was recommended to me by the concierge at my hotel. It was a really good recommendation and a nice small, intament Italian restaurant with a small bar. I ate at the bar in the service was fantastic. I tried the lamb shank and it was all right. Im a bit picky with lamb and next time Ill try something different. From the people around me the pastas were fantastic. They have a nice selection of drinks and the house Chianti by the glass was very good.
Took a shot on early on NYE and they had a table for two. Great service and fantastically delicious food!! Gnocci with beef and pork ragu was utterly mouthwatering and the fettuccini fungi was filled with wild mushrooms and a delicate olive oil and garlic sauce. So So Good!!! The service was prompt, attentive and very courteous!! Wine with dinner and cappuccino to follow with a total bill of under $70! On NYE!!! Thanks for a great dinner...we will be back
Cozy comfort place. Very good for casual date night. Candle lit tables. Service was fast. Really liked the dip served with the breads. We have tried Rigatoni with eggplant and mushrooms and sphagetti with tomatoes and basil. Very delicious full of flavors. Tasted very fresh and yummy. Had a great time😊
I love a good Italian spot! Unfortunately, Mercato was very hit or miss. The caprese salad and spaghetti was great. Sometimes it subbed cold and made differently and not as well. I once ordered lasagna that I picked up from the restaurant and it was cold. The inconsistency could be frustrating but it was decent.
Loved the food; as many have said, youll be cheek to jowl with your neighbor so leave your private conversations at home. Just bring a good appetite because everything we had was delicious. It felt like we were back in Rome! We made reservations and though the hostess was a bit unfriendly, the waitstaff was delightful. We would definitely go back!
Unfortunately I have to agree with the other low reviews here. Yes, there’s an automatic “buonasera” when you enter and a nice ambience, but that’s about it. The fettuccine reminded us of instant noodles, and the five pieces of ravioli were underwhelming and bland. They never asked whether we enjoyed the food, nor if we wanted more wine. How this place made it into the Michelin guide is beyond me.
This place is a jewel, and authentic Italian food place. I found this place kind of by chance and Im very happy about it. The first good thing is that we just walked in and they managed to get us a table, which not all restaurants do. The menu was very varied and interesting. The food quality and flavor is amazing. The interior decor is captivating and romantic. Perfect for a third date. Im looking forward to the day I eat at this place again.
I love this place. Cool decor, cool vibe, good food and friendly bartenders. It feels very authentic and cosmopolitan at the same time. I love their Italian wine, Negroni, and grappa! Their tiramisu is fantastic, too. But please dont go there so I can still have my seat...
Great food! But not a place for single women to eat at based on my two experiences at this restaurant. Both times I came when it was early enough to have several tables open and asked to sit at a table. Both times I was told there were no tables available as they were booked up, and that I had to eat at the bar. Now, I dont know about other women eating by themselves, but eating at the bar surrounded by men you dont know is not my idea of a great dinner out. Particularly after a hard day of work. I sat at the bar and told the bartender that if the tables were filled by the time I left, he got a tip and if not then no tip. The bartender then got hostile with me. I ate a delicious meal of Eggplant Parmesan. Absolutely delicious! When I finished there were still tables open so I didnt tip. I tip for good service, not to be lied to and yelled at. As I was leaving, the manager told me never to come back again and I told him I wouldnt since he and his staff did not know how to treat a woman by herself eating in the restaurant right & I dont like to pay money to people who lie to me and are hostile to me. If you are going to this restaurant with another person, enjoy! If you are a woman alone, the food isnt worth the hostility from the all male staff. They dont want you to do anything but shut up and take whatever they dish out to you based on my experience. No more.2
Came here twice, Id recommend making a reservation first. The first time we made a reservation, the second time- we didnt but luckily we came early and didnt have to wait long. The service is good, their wines selection is great.Id their fettuccine ai funghi once and ricotta-spinach ravioli the second time. Both were great. The ravioli wasnt quite enough for a main though. My fiance ordered the special both times. The special on the first occasion was exceptionally good. It was a salmon dish. The second special- a branzino and was not bad but not as good as the salmon.

2022-02-23All of the dishes were so fresh and tasty. We decided to order family style and each take a portion. We still had enough food for leftovers. The lasagna was the perfect meal to end a long day in NYC. All desserts are made in house. A very cozy treat and would definitely recommend for an authentic Italian meal

2022-04-17I came in wanting to try this place. I settled for some pasta and mushrooms. I was really hungry late at night after a long day of work. I asked the waitress if she could specifically make sure that the noodles were very soft and well cooked as I liked them soft and well done. She said they were made fresh and were soft. I then said could you please ask the chef to boil the noodles for a longer period of time so that were and cooked well. She then said ok. I ordered some spinach as well. Few minutes later pasta arrived. I was thinking no way this could have been cooked well and sure enough pasta was not cooked well and still on the chewy side. Not only was the pasta not cooked properly as requested but can still be seen by the eye and camera in the dark. Comes down to a few things. 1) Waitress didn’t care and didn’t tell chef 2)Chef didn’t care and didn’t follow orders. Then spinach arrived tasting as bland as possible. How difficult is it to boil the pasta for an extra 5 minutes before you ask the customer to tip you 20-28% for not following a simple request?

2022-05-16The bread is very soft and tasty. We ordered Ravioli Di Ricotta, which tasted creamy and astonishing; and also ordered Gnocchi AL Ragu, which is also great. The two reason I rated 3 were the space was too tiny and not very comfortable because your table will be very close to the other table. Very noisy since lots of people there. In addition, the size of food is quite tiny.

2022-03-01Went here for dinner tonight. They sat us at a small table in the front near the window. The place has some cool character to it, with brick walls.Service was okay, nothing special. The food was mediocre. They told us about a special appetizer which was fried dough with sprinkled cheese and marinara sauce. It turned out to be a couple tiny pizzas and was the most expensive item on our bill, $22. What a sneaky move that was.The sliced bread was dry and came with some odd lentil and oil mix in a bowl, that tasted pasty. I asked for butter and the female server immediately said they don’t have any. What kitchen doesn’t carry butter?!The three meatball appetizer I had was awful. Mushy meatballs that tasted like too much bread crumbs and it came with hard dry bread. The rigatoni Norma dish had too hard noodles and lacked flavor. My Diet Coke was 3/4 ice.Needless to say this place is far from authentic Italian food. A total rip off.

2021-11-13Nice staff and authentic atmosphere. All the food was very nicely prepared. The traditional lasagne and the gnocchi with Ragu were particularly tasty. The espresso coffees were delicious! A perfect ending to our lunch. They use a Sicilian coffee beans brand. Its real proper Italian coffee!

2022-04-11We only went for the dessert. The creme brulee was delicious. The dessert wine that goes with it was amazing. Service and ambience was remarkable. They even have some sessions of piano playing for a added touch. Really enjoyed this place

2022-03-22Excellent service and food. The waitress gracefully dodged or son asking if they have mac and cheese. She recommended a great bottle of wine. My wife is very very happy after a long day of touring. Excellent place even if you have kids in tow.
