Recently toured the building and the Mercedes House sets the gold standard for NYC living! Top notch customer service, management is dedicated to excellence and efficiency. Building is aesthetically pleasing, and the amenities they offer provide a pleasurable experience! Highly recommended!
This building is amazing, Ive lived here six months and cant imagine living anywhere else. Were close to everything, the front desk is excellent (Hope especially!), building management is always professional and super quick at addressing anything I need (Mariana especially!). Great job!
I have lived here for one year and absolutely love this place! The staff is very friendly and super helpful. Requests are addressed as soon as possible. Management hears what the residents think and is very very supportive. The amenities are great too with indoor gym and pool. This is also a great neighborhood too especially for dog lovers (there is a great dog run nearby). We love this place!! I would definitely recommend others to live here!!!
I lived at the Mercedes House for a total of 7 years and I absolutely loved it. Great staff, always super helpful, everything works and if there is an issues it is addressed asap. Even moving out was smooth and management was extremely supportive every step of the way. I highly recommend to live here!
I lived here for several of years due to the amazing view.Maintenance takes about 3-6 days to fix things.I once had a bubble under my living room it took them over 3 months to fix.I had one of the best apartments here. Not worth a spending a penny.Overall, you want to live well don’t go near this building. It is trash.I was harassed by a neighbors. All management did was put signs under their doors. You want community living it isn’t here. You want quality living it isn’t here. The building is too far from everything. The building does have a great gym on premises. Not kid friendly, or adult friendly.Enjoy Insider information
This is an amazing building to live in. The biggest draw for me is the Mercedes Club gym being connected to the building. It has an excellent indoor heated swimming pool. The outdoor pool is very popular in the summer. The common areas with free WIFI are really nice and Ive worked remote from there by the fireplace or the huge flat screen TV. The juice bar is really convenient. Theyve just opened a market connected to the building. The lobbies are really nice and artistic. The individual apartments have great appliances. Washer/Dryer in unit Ive taken for granted outside of NYC but its a luxury here. Most views are really nice, and anything facing west into the Hudson is great. This building is expensive, you will easily pay a 10-20% premium on rent, but completely worth it in my opinion. What you get back is so much more. Also, its a quiet area which is kind of nice, and Clinton park with people playing softball and intramural league sports year round is great. Highly recommend living in this building for Hells Kitchen.
The amenities here are great. The management is not so much.As per the lease I was supposed to be refunded my security deposit 30 days after moving out. I was not refunded until 60 days after move out, after 4 different phone calls to various branches of management. They also gave me a different persons statement of accounting, which speaks volumes of their accounting professionalism and lack of attention to detail. Also - buyers beware they charge a mysterious $250 move out fee.
Fraud merchant, be aware!!1. We have submitted our applications, fees and deposit on 9/12/2019. Because their bank did not pick up our application fee from my payments, they persuaded me to pay another application fee of 9/17. Which caused the payments had duplicated.2. I asked them to refund one time application fee, they refused to refund, and had threatened us if we quibble on the fee, they will put our apartment back to the market.3. On 9/20, they denied our application without any adequate reason in the afternoon of the day before we were moving in. Mercedes House wasted us 3 times application fees and all opportunities for looking other apartment buildings.4. After this, I submitted a dispute to my bank, one application fee had refunded back to my account. Then they charged me again on 11/1/2019, Consequently, Bank of America reported the transaction as a fraud and replaced my credit card. Finally, if we did not pay the application fees they wont receive our applications, these are requirements and bundled with their application system. They asked documents that we dont need to submit, which delay the processing time. They asked us to claim the fee back by ourselves from a third party company yet need their authorization, which is impossible to complete.I am responsible for all the statements listed as above, all emails of the conversation are saved as evidences.
Mercedes House is truly the worst apartment Ive ever lived in. Dont be fooled by its great looks. Although the building, apartments and gym are all gorgeous, looks are deceiving and you should avoid this nightmare at all costs.Overall, the walls are paper thin, many things break and Mercedes House / Two Trees management is obnoxious, dishonest and incompetent. The Director of Residential Leasing Ashley Wirkus is the single most incompetent and vindictive person Ive ever dealt with.Avoid at all costs!
Loved living here...from the first day we met Yosh who showed us the unit. We had a 2 bedroom2bath with everything like new. All the doormen and maintenance staff were always there when we called. It was just time to move out of the city otherwise we would still be there.
I love this building! It is in one of the best locations in Manhattan because its very close heart of Manhattan, yet you have the peace and quiet due to its proximity. I never seen anything like the Amenity space this building anywhere in the city. The only downer is that it is costly, but I had a great broker and he was able to get me 2 months free. Im happy!
I currently live here. One the of the front desk man is extremely horrible. Even though my package has arrived here for more than a week and I got email notification from the building system, he insists its not there until the senior manager gets it for me. This happens more than once, but by the same guy. Hopefully they can improve it.
A quick on how to listen to most of the reviews on the Mercedes House and parking.Ok here goes.Nice building and amenities. Way too far from stores and transit. No you dont get used to the distance.Managnent is runned like a low income rent controlled building that it is. Why call it Mercesdes ? That can care less.Security isnt security. Anyone can have access to the building. Look up on how many police reports where made in teanants accupuying the building. It blew my mind. BAD!The front desk guys are nice. All but one.Legal attention is being addressed to get my security deposit back from the parking garage. 6 months later that is.Most reviews where in point befor I moved in. I should have listened. I subletted to get out 4 months early. Good move !
Instrata is a scam, no matter whether they call it Instrata Mercedes House or Instrata Hells Kitchen. Change the name doesnt make them less shameful of themselves. I lived in an apartment at Instrata Hells Kitchen for a year, and I never want to deal with Instrata again. I was told explicitly that I could get 1 month free, if I rented it for 11 months. It turned out that I should rent it for 12 months instead of 11 months to get the free month. They gave me the original deal after negotiation. They just lied about everything to get you sign the contract. When I rented the apartment, I was told that I could put a full wall in the living room. However, I was told that it wasnt the case, after I moved in. Very similar scam happened when I was moving out. When they were doing the move-out inspection, they told me that I only need to pay for painting parts of the wall in the living room. And they asked me to sign a blank move-out inspection form. Several weeks later, I found out that they took $1500 out of my $5595 deposit!! They included the charge of replacing the floor in the apartment, in addition to painting the wall. The black move-out inspection form was filled with lots of charges with my signature on it. I was wondering why they didnt renovate the entire apartment and keep all my deposit. The community manager was Enredi Shtylla. And he even threatened to take more from my deposit, after I confronted him about this issue. The building and location are great, but it doesnt even compensate the shameful and lying community management at Instrata. Such a shameful management team at Instrata. Have trusted these people, never should I.
There are certainly worse places to live. (I have no idea what this Jay guy is talking about. There were no community amenities yet when he posted. Troll. . . .) Its also pretty transparent that most of the building is still under construction, so should you decide to move in before its been completely built, just expect a lot of early morning drilling and having to avoid being hit by any of the construction, delivery, or Mercedes vehicles whenever you come or leave the building. The gym just opened on 7/1, and our outdoor public spaces just opened, though theyre open until 6 p.m., but honestly, who really has the luxury of being home before 6 p.m.? Not sure what thats about. The pools are said to be opening next week.PROS:+You get a nice welcome package! (With soap!)+The neighborhood is awesome. Its about a 15 minute cab ride to the rest of the parts of the city worth going to and about an hour walk otherwise if youre heading to somewhere on the east side.+The building looks cool.+You can potentially rent an apartment with a balcony that is bigger than my entire apartment, and I can watch you have your parties and what not on that porch while I work on my freelance work in between my full-time job. Are your ears burning?+Washer and dryer and dishwasher and garbage disposal. More buildings need these amenities in their apartment ASAP.+Rent includes the public amenities: gym, outdoor space, etc.CONS:-We had to make our own keys. What?!-The shades offer no privacy. Neighbor, I can see you scratch your butthole and sniff your fingers. Dont think I cant.-The shades dont block the morning sun. Management did offer a discount through their supplier to get the blackout shades though, but it was pretty expensive.-Either the walls are really thin or its the the floor-to-ceiling windows that help transfer sound, but neighbors, I can hear you have sex, shake your martini shaker, sneeze, converse on the phone, watch television at 4 a.m., etc. And I really wish I couldnt.-Its a fifteen minute walk to the nearest subway. When I asked if there was a shuttle bus, the realtor lady stifled a laugh. When I pointed out that the Helena had a shuttle, she said it was because it was on 11th Avenue. Um, I believe the entrance on 53rd St. is much closer to 11th Avenue than to 10th Avenue, laughing-face.
My girlfriend and I were interested in this place. We were told that construction was done on our floor, and the two floors above where wed be renting. We paid $300 for the application fee only to see this on the lease.Tenant acknowledges that the Building including but not limited to [no bound on construction] ... will require construction work to be completed ... . Tenant agrees that his/her reasonable expectation of the Apartment and the Building is that there will be construction work and workers in or about the premises, which will result in excessive noise, dust, annoyances, inconveniences and other problems associated with constructionId recommend getting a look at the lease before you pay the application fee.
This is an amazing building to live. The building is very well. The lights in the loby are really cool and the people in reception are really nice people. Its really good that the building have 3 entrance directly to the loby. The first it is a rotary door. The second is a normal door, you push it and that is all. The third one is really nice of you have a pet. Its a grey door that you need to enter a code to open it. Its really nice for dogs. Its location is really well, youre in front of a CVS pharmacy, thats really good for an emergency. Theres a Market a side, where you can buy every tipe of food. Theres coffe, sweet bread for the morning, etc. theres a lot of things, inclusive for making your Market Shopping. The gym is really cool. Theres a lot of variety of machines you can use to exercise your body. Also theres a swimming pool and jacuzzi, basketball court, boxing court, showers and steam. The elevator goes down and up really fast. It sight is really nice in the night. All the NYC lights.Etc... Is an excellent building to live...
New doormen stuff is horrible! I never ever had problems with delivery! Today the doorman was extremely RUDE!!! Which is not acceptable!!! I totally agree with other reviews about front desk. This happens more than once! I pay for the service and I do want to get an appropriate service not what I’ve experienced today!

2021-12-11Mercedes House is an architecturally stunning building with views of the Hudson that are breathtaking. The building offers expansive amenities that are beyond compare. Self-parking facility in the building adds to even more luxury - parking space is indoors and well maintained. Apartments are modern with layout that is very efficient with ample storage and closet space. Kitchen appliances and other fixtures in the apartment are modern and top end.….But what makes this building noteworthy are the quality folks that run this place … a team that is coordinated and true professionals all the way from the leasing staff (Ansel & Faryd) to property management (Derek & team) to the super (Joseph) and his maintenance team - all knowledgeable, courteous, polite, and professional. Maintenance team is phenomenal - every service request is resolved within hours. All said, it a great building to call home.

2022-03-21Highly attentive staff and fantastic people.I have never experienced anything other than exceptional service by everyone at the building ever since I moved here in late 2012, Derek and his team are on top of everything.Management always communicates all relevant news in and around the building/neighborhood in timely fashion, Mr. Katz himself and his staff have always been able to address any situation that may have arisen during my tenancy with exceptional care. The building is kept clean at all times despite it being a very large operation. Really speaks to the excellent care the staff is committed to providing. It feels very relaxing getting to a place where you know things will be cared for, including us; the tenants. The concierge staff is superb. The atmosphere at Mercedes House is that of inner peace, Im happy that the building is away from the hustle and bustle of the inner avenues, its great to get away from it all while still having everything within short walking distance. The health club is fantastic! And so is the parking garage. Exceptional luxuries for an amazing place to live in.Its awesome to have the Hudson river & the Hudson river Greenway literally about the equivalent of 3 city blocks away, while being a stone skip away from Times Square and Central park.I am very thankful for having the fantastic staff and management team taking care of things they way they do, I love it here. Keep up the excellent work everyone!Thank you guys, you are appreciated.A.Polanco1 6 1 1

2022-05-22I was not making my decision we’re to live lightly. A good friend of mine and many colleagues before him lived at Mercedes‘ house and I decided to move in as well.Overall I was very happy with not only a very beautiful apartment but also the way I was treated by Mercedes house management and the other employees working there (doorman, maintenance). Despite the size of the complex, you get treated like an individual. The gym and pools were big highlights for me and the building management is very engaged in generating a strong community with fun events but there are also many residents, which seem not to be interested in joining or doing anything with the community.Generally, the location is rather central and you can walk towards most places or take a small bike ride but the next station is about 15 minutes away, which has to be considered. The area is rather quiet and has many beautiful highlights (Hudson River Park, proximity to Central Park). All in all, I had very good time at Mercedes house and wanted to say a thank you for the very pleasant time at Mercedes House

2021-08-06The staff are the most professional and considerate team among all the rental buildings I have lived. I have lived in four similar luxury rental buildings in NY and also NJ. This is the only review I have ever written. The team of Mercedes House are nice, empathetic, clear, and resourceful. Their level of professionalism is also top-notched.I’ve lived here for twice in 2017 and 2020.In 2017, Tony, one of the staff, helped me save a lot of money. I wanted to find an apartment in NYC. I was inexperienced in the Manhattan rental market so I relied on a “fake” brokerage firm run by some Chinese people, which I found on WeChat. But Tony found the application was strange and called me to know more details. It turned out those people were lying about the deal and wanted to swallow some of my rental free months’ credits. They were not a brokerage firm at all. With a very warm heart, Tony helped me through the application process. He is not only professional, but also very kind. After one year of residence, though I enjoyed the building very much, I decided to move away to live together with my ex.Last year I had a divorce with my ex, and was looking for an apartment in the neighborhood. I decided to go back to Mercedes House because of my past pleasant experience. Due to the COVID pandemic, I expected the process to be very hard.Derek and many other members of the team helped me a lot in the process. The point I love most is that they write down everything in an email, and it’s very organized, clear, systematic and considerate. Most other rental buildings don’t communicate those items that well. The other buildings tend to send “one-off” emails for the common items, while Mercedes House summarize everything so well that all the residents can enjoy the benefits.Because of their professionalism, I had no trouble when moving during the pandemic. The process was smooth and the team were also able to address my questions timely even though it was in the pandemic.I liked the building a lot, but sadly I decided to go back to Asia this year. The move-out process was also trouble-free. Mariana and Marissa helped me a lot. Mariana provided help for my international relocation and saved me a lot of worries. Marissa did the final move-out inspection. When I left, she kept reminding me of several items and also nicely held the door for me when I moved with my luggage. I found both of them are sweet, considerate, very well-spoken and empathetic. The final inspection was also very transparent. They even provided the pricing and gave you a choice of finding someone else to fix the small damages before you leave. When I lived in the other buildings, I had no idea why my security deposit was deducted, but Mercedes House provides an absolute transparency!Furthermore, I’m impressed how the team keeps evolving. My 2020 experience is even better than 2017, because they keep refining their processes and things are more and more organized. It’s very difficult to manage such a large building with so many residents and they are doing an amazing job.One final point is that they have the best gym in the city. (Cheaper than Equinox, but better, larger, and cleaner.) If you love workout, you’ll be amazed and enjoy your exercise experience a lot. Plus, G is always there to help you.

2021-11-17Ive lived here for 8 years (basically since it opened) and I dont think Ill ever move! I absolutely LOVE it here. If I have a maintenance request, it always gets done on the same day I request it.The staff goes above and beyond. Mariana is so incredibly helpful and responsive anytime my apartment needs attention. She knows every apartment backwards and forwards; shes so knowledgeable, its incredible.Darrell needs an award (and a giant raise if his supervisor is reading this!) Because of him, I feel like I have a family member walking the halls. He genuinely cares about the residents well-being and checks on me every single time I see him in the lobby. He makes me feel super safe and taken care of.Hope, Tanisha, Sean, Thomas and the entire front desk are exceptional at making me feel at home every time I walk in (even though they often have thousands of deliveries theyre sorting through!) Jimmy and Elvin are pros at fixing practically every thing. The building itself is beautiful, close to EVERYTHING. The Hells Kitchen neighborhood is one of the best in NYC. I walk out the door and have 100+ amazing restaurants to choose from plus the gorgeous Hudson River Park. Ive also made friends with so many Mercedes House residents who have become my closest friends. The amenities are gorgeous and clean. I could go on and on, but I think Ive made my point. If youre thinking of the Mercedes House, definitely move in. I absolutely love it and dont ever want to move!

2022-05-05Nothing but great things to say about the place. The leasing experience with Ansel was phenomenal, he helped me to pick the perfect apartment. The front desk staff is amazing, shoutout to Anwar, Tanisha, Juan and Hope! Building maintenance is extremely well run, usually they respond and fix the problem in under 4 hours! Highly recommend living here!

2021-11-17Mercedes house has been unbelievably accommodating and professional when it comes to arranging leases, coordinating gym memberships, and being an all around fantastic building with amazing staff. Maintenance is super quick and the building is incredibly clean. Also if you get the opportunity to work with Mariana in the leasing office - she is incredible and rest assured you can trust she’ll get the job done and handle business. Would most definitely recommend this building.

2021-11-18I have been a tenant of Mercedes House since it first opened in 2011. It is not an understatement to say that this is a very special place. The staff, amenities and building design, plus an up and coming neighborhood, make for a wonderful overall experience. We are always proud to invite guests and share with them our place. Mercedes House naturally attracts friendly residents and we have made lifelong friends here. We consider Mercedes House our home and arent going anywhere!

2021-10-30I have lived in Mercedes House for about 5 months & have been so pleasantly surprised by the sense of community & level of service. I was worried about uptight people and cold staff, but my experience has been quite the opposite. Everyone is so friendly and the front desk & maintenance team members are all very upbeat & take the time to get to know you. The building is always SUPER clean & well maintained, and you literally cannot hear anything when you’re in your unit (no loud neighbors/ music/ street noise). It’s like a little oasis in the middle of the city! Don’t even get me started on the outdoor pool… it’s a literal game changer! It feels like living in a luxury hotel. 20/10 would recommend to anyone.
