On Tuesday July 19th 2022 I came by ambulance to the ER with SEVERE abdominal pain. After getting my insurance information to be sure they would get paid, the EMT told me they were too busy in the ER and I would have to wait in the waiting room. I was wailing in pain. When I finally was seen I did get some pain medication. The nursing staff was rude and did not follow safe protocol. Before putting anything into an IV port you must wipe the tip off with alcohol. Judy the nurse went to give me something in my IV without cleaning it and I commented “I think they wipe it off with alcohol first” She was annoyed and said “I’ve been a nurse for 20 years and haven’t lost anyone to sepsis, but there’s always a first!” She huffed off to find an alcohol wipe. I went to ultrasound and the tech made me wait with my legs spread waiting for an invasive test while she with her “clean” glove texted on her phone and then with that same glove proceeded with the procedure. Staff was totally unprofessional and UNSAFE! In there practice! Patients BE WARE!

I’m in the waiting room now and have been here for four hours. I gave them my phone number to send me alerts on what’s going on with my husband. I have not received any, NOT ONE text. Unacceptable. I finally had to have them give Ken his phone. We are waiting for results. Unacceptable mercy hospital, unacceptable. Plus there is absolutely no reason I could not wait with him. You let others be with their family members. If you let one patient have family members. You let us all.

This was an experience for the book. My “Husband” passed out at the Bills game. Meanwhile nothing in my 22+years with him has even made him pass out. Anyways, my Husband was brought into this hospital after being evaluated at the Highmark Stadium ER by ambulance because the Providers personal feelings was “something was potentially very wrong.” Now he was brought into South Buffalo Mercy Hopital (not knowing this area because we are from out of town 3+ Hours away) he passed out and lose Consciousness He had an abnormal amount of fluid in his left leg and needed a possible Echo & Troponin levels drawn due to a suspected possible MI or near one. After several hours (9+ hours) of waiting in the waiting room in a wheelchair with no vitals or anything professional after being brought in by ambulance my husband had enough mentally and asked to go home. The male nurse was very transparent and told my husband that it would be 12+hours MORE to be seen by their provider because there was one provider on that night for entire ER full of sick patients at Buffalo Mercy. The Female “Lead RN ” was exceptionally rude and asked why we even came in the first place? Also wanted to know why we waisted EMS services. Well, I then took my husband home to our local hospital to only find out “of coarse” Why Yes! indeed something was wrong with his heart. Someone saved his life his Cardiologist said. It was you Ma’am. This is so sad that this beautiful hospital in Buffalo has such incompetent and RUDE personnel. T. People are dying, I guarantee that. Luckily I didn’t loose my soulmate at a young age due to this understaffed, overran hospital with such RUDE PERSONAL and lack of nursing skills. This is an instance where you need to rebuild this from the ground up. This needs a visit from Joint Commission. Fire all and rehire. I mean, I get the system is understaffed and overwhelmed but this has got to be the worst case of the pits of hell I have ever seen. Our Country has a broken health care system. I’ll give you that but this place isn’t doing any part of Buffalo any justice or service. In this case I just took my husband 3+hours home to our hospital system where myself and our local hospital saved him. Mercy hospital is seriously broken. I don’t care who they are. If I treated their family like they treated my Husband they would be in the same mind set. Well lesson learned. Never again will we be sent to Mercy in South Buffalo. Not even the family dog. Maybe that’s the blessing is disguise and my last thoughts, their nightly prayers should be for themselves. To pray that their family is never brought there either!

My fiance came in with persistent vomiting with complaints of being light headed and feeling like she was going to pass out. I had to lift her into a wheelchair because she was too weak to stand. I expressed my concern to the triage nurse and she said we would be next to go back. As we waited, three other patients were taken before her, both of who walked into the treatment area of their own power. Not sure who taught them how to triage but this is clearly not the place to come for an actual emergency, it seems a small step up from urgent car and they cannot handle anything else.

From the beginning everyone was rude I went in with joint pain and im here telling the nurses who put the iv that i cant extent my arm due to my joints in that sides elbow hurt so okay she tries again and i pull my arm away because Im in pain she then goes to the other armand starts smacking at my right hands wrist and back of my hand which that hand was completely swollen and shes trying to get me to close my hand in a ball even tho i told her that hand hurts as well and at she would say is but i thought u said it was that elbow and would keep smacking my hand trying to get a vein overall worst experience maybe this hospital needs to retrain there nurses or get new ones because the ones there are the worst

Absolutely terrible. I took my wife to the ER for severe abdominal pain. After 2 and a half hours we still were not seen and left to go to another emergency room. There were still people there waiting to be seen that had been there before us. They built a new emergency room but the service is the same as its been for the last 30 years, terrible.

Terrible hospital to go to you will be dead before someone sees you.This hospital should be sued for how they run things in the Emergency room making people wait for hours and hours before there seen by a doctor.I will never go there for anything and go to a different hospital for anything.This hospital is a House of Horrors especially the emergency department.

Sat on an exam table for 7+ hours and ignored for the last 2 to be told I had tonsillitis. I’ve never liked Mercy Hospital.

Everyone was really nice and I was helped immediately. Being in as much pain as I was in really sucked but being greeted by a polite, smilling staff team really made the experience great! Thank you Mercy

The staff was friendly, got my information, got me back to be seen and I couldnt thank them enough, the area was clean and I would recommend this hospital.
