Poor communication with a tenant on basic complaints. Unreliable and neglectful, as if they are all coordinating to be as such.Billing is not as bad in my experience, but dealing with apartment issues is unbearable. They dont follow up with complaints and nothing got done for months.
If you ever wanted to know about living in a dorm or about the college experience move to 200 East 17th Street in Brooklyn! It’s terrible! Also Meridian Properties, who owns the building has rats running rampant in the laundry room but have the audacity to charge $3,200 for a 3 bedroom apartment. $3,200! The carpet is dirty in the hallways, the walls in the hallway need to be painted and we were promised a new laundry room back in 2020. Still waiting on that.I guess maybe when the old tenants move out who pay very little because they’ve been here for years and more white people move in maybe, just maybe management will pick up the phone, answer an email, get rid of the junkyard in the back, make sure the front and side door is closed at all times and have a reliable super that does his job. I won’t hold my breath though! AVOID.
HORRIBLE management. Weve had issues with rats for over 6 months and it took them 6 months to respond with no viable solution. Absolutely horrible, rude, and unprofessional. Would not recommend anyone to live in any of their properties. STAY AWAY.Update: we ended up having to move out of the unit we were in at 715 St Marks Ave due to a continued rat infestation (we had to break our lease). They have had this issue for years and are clearly aware of it, but have no intention to fix it. Absolutely horrible, vile scam of a company.
This management company is terrible, they should be sued for the condition they allow apartments to be in - The super took my 94 year old grandmother’s conditioner out of her window six months ago for BUILDING repairs, for 6 kk the no one has bothered to put it back. It is now summer over 90 degrees out and humid, the super was contacted several times to put it back and he did not. The management company claim they are waiting to a price to come in but that’s should have been done 6 MONTHS AGO when they took it out. It is inhumane to have a 94 year old person without an AC bc you needed to take it out for building repairs. The building itself is dirty, leaks everywhere that go unfixed, unresponsive super. Unacceptable!!!!!!
Im a current resident of one of the properties that Meridian manages, and they arent responsive at all. We have contacted management about mice issues repeatedly and they wont help us fix the problem. They sent the super in to assist and he said he really couldnt do much other than hand us some spray foam to clog up holes ourselves we had already taken care of with steel wool. We contacted management again because their is definitely an infestation within the walls. You can hear them in the walls for hours and Im just waiting until they create more issues or die in the walls.Theyve already said there is nothing more that they will do, and we pay far too much money in rent to live here and for them to do nothing to fix this issue. I can see from other reviews that this is an issue in other properties, which obviously means that it wont get taken care of anytime soon. Im at the point that I may start reaching out to other neighbors to find out their experiences and may even look into legal help for the situation.
The management is unresponsive and irresponsible. My roommate has been here more than five years, and myself for the past year plus. Weve had multiple infestations and the building lock was compromised last fall, leading to a series of thefts of packages in the building. But despite letters by certified mail and emails, and multiple 311 and HPD complaints, they wont fix it! Find a nicer place to live!
Horrible, horrible management that should not be in the business of managing apartment buildings. The rent is cheap, but it’s cheap for a reason - they absolutely neglect their responsibilities and the building is in complete disrepair. There hasn’t been a single month when there were no problems with hot water or heating - you can’t even shower in the morning because their heater doesn’t work or they haven’t ordered enough heating fuel. Most recently, we (and at least 3 other apartments) had an unbearable stench in our apartment - we were told by neighbors that a cat and its kittens died in the basement - yet the super and management have done absolutely NOTHING about it - it’s been 2 weeks since we first complained (and followed up 4 times since then) and they have completely ignored it. All 4 members of my family have persisting headaches from the smell of decaying animal - it’s a health hazard - yet they couldn’t care less. I’m not sure who was giving positive reviews, but they clearly haven’t lived here...
I have had such a great experience with Meridian Properties. From the start, they were extremely friendly and professional. They answered my many questions at the lease signing and were very transparent about everything. Whenever we’ve needed a repair, I called my building management and they sent the super promptly (sometimes he even came that day). I love my apartment and was just sent a lease renewal which I will definitely sign! :) Thank you guys so much for everything.
I live on one of their buildings in Crown Heights (Union Street). The building is infested by bed bugs and mites. Management does not do anything. Half of the reviews here are fake- three of them are from the brokers that showed me this building. This is the worst building Ive ever lived in. Management does not address the bed bug situation and Ive resorted to withhold rent until I AT LEAST hear back from them. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PROPERTIES. Save yourself many headaches and money.
Terrible management, do not recommend leasing their properties. Current renter in Crown Heights dealing with various issues of health and safety. Management has been extremely slow and/or unhelpful in eradicating/fixing the following issues: mail theft, broken lock to building entrance, rodent and pest issues (mice, bed bugs, mites, roaches etc.)

2022-01-26The management team is amazing! The staff are so friendly, especially Deb and Anitra. They patiently listen to all our questions and complaints and always figure out a way to solve the issue. I have lived in this city for many years and moved quite a few times. This team is, by far, the best management team I have ever dealt with!

2021-12-28The way they run business has to be illegal. None of their building are up to state standards and they have missed annual inspections for years…Our apartment has had many problems. Big and small. The property management takes weeks before even the minor repairs can be made. Every time I have called they are so rude and make it seem like I am the one inconveniencing them all while I’m unable to shower because the hot water has broken for the 3rd time in 2 months. Between Anitra and Jimmy no one has any organization or project management skills. No one seems to know the status of anything. I feel like my teenager could solve problems better.

2021-12-25If you want to be neglected and yelled at by your property management this is the one.If you care about the safety of your home, look elsewhere!Jimmy the manager is horribly rude and refuses to help his tenants. They also refuse to answer calls or calls back. They completely lie about status of building inspections and completely ignore state regulations for safety maintenance. What’s a nice apartment when you have to beg or hire your own contractors to live in a safe home?

2022-03-31Living in NYC for almost 10 years, you can imagine the kinda B.S. Ive seen with property management companies. I was really pleasantly surprised with Meridian Properties and their level of professionalism. I always was able to talk to someone to get my questions answered, get things fixed in my apartment, and even break my lease without issue. Really appreciate them! Deb and Anitra were particularly helpful.

2022-01-13As a tenant at a building on Fenimore st, I am very appalled at the horrible conditions and total lack of respect and professionalism from this management company. There has been and continues to be a water leak from the ceiling in my bathroom. The super confirmed that the tenant above is causing the leak (there are no plumbing issues in his bathroom and he is deliberately pointing the shower head on the window sill area each day). Jimmy, the building manager is, and Anitra, in charge of repairs, refuses to take action against this tenant, citing that there is nothing that he can do, which is complete B.S. He promptly hung up the phone on me before I was finished speaking with him. As a tenant who pays my rent each month, this is a frustrating and very unprofessional. I would not recommend that you lease with them.

2022-07-08Do not rent from these people! Especially beware if you are moving in at the Sterling location on the ground floor. There are rats in the ceiling, roaches, the front door of the building doesn’t lock and there is a package thief. You will also be disturbed by a neighbor who unfortunately suffers from a severe mental illness and sadly does not get the attention she needs from management or her social workers. I was reluctant to even leave a post, but feel people should know what they are getting into. I lost sleep the last year I lived here and it was unbearable. It’s unfortunate that management does not care and gives you the run around when these problems arise. Nothing was ever resolved.

2022-06-17Do not rent from here . They do not care about their tenants and refuse to help anyone. They refuse to carpet apartments or do anything to help with the atrocious noise (footsteps , banging). Worst management team I’ve ever experienced.

2022-03-04Maintenance is TERRIBLE. Mice, cockroaches, cigarette smoke filled hallways, leaking ceilings, a building main door that doesn’t often lock and is left open to the streets for days without repair. They DO NOT CARE. The super is hardworking but if the work requires outside contractors GOOD LUCK. we’ve been living with a bathroom that has no working vent and grows mold rampantly since we moved in mid 2020. Sometimes the vent blows welding fumes and cleaning chemicals from outside into our apartment. We have reported it 9 times to date. Don’t live in a property managed by this company.Current resident.

2021-12-25BEWARE!!The worst property management company I’ve encountered. It takes them months to respond to emergency repairs. They have absolutely no regard for the health and safety of their tenants. They have been issued violations and still refuse to respond to countless emails and phone calls. The property manager Sal is so unprofessional and has no problems yelling and cursing at tenants in their homes.I promise you the headache isn’t worth it!!

2021-12-18Meridian has been very easy to work with over the years. My partner and I have lived in two different meridian properties in the same neighborhood and both were good, solid, and affordable apartments.Management has been very reasonable to work with, understanding, and civil to work with through these rough pandemic years!
