I came here today, June 7, 2021. I was looking for cycling shoes, pedal and cleats. Never used cycling shoes before, so I asked lots of questions and the sales person explained to me more than I expected. He took his time explaining step by step. If I’m not mistaken, his name is Warren. He is tall. I think he is the manager. He was very nice. Anyway, it was one of the best customer service experience that I had in my life. I know it’s sounds cheesy but is true. I will come back again. Thank you!
EDIT: I was previously disappointed with the tune up service I received at Merrick Bicycles, however, I was contacted by the store manager, Michael, who was looking to rectify the situation. He had me return my bike to the service department for a more detailed cleaning. I am very appreciative of the effort put forth by the staff. After I received my bike back, I was shocked! It looked like a brand new bike! As for equipment and accessories, the shop has a tremendous selection and you can find everything you need. I will be using Merrick Bicycles as my go-to shop for all of my biking needs after this. Customer service is a huge plus for me, and Michael really pulled through on his word.
Great one stop shop for bikes and gear. Ordered my bike 2 weeks ago, loved it, went back and bought my girl one instantly after dealing with them. Just picked it up today, along with upgrading our pedals on the spot. The guys there are all awesome and this will be our only spot for all our bike needs. Thanks again guys, for making everything so smooth and enjoyable!! Well see you soon!
Purchased a bike here for my kid. Bike was a little over $200. Wasnt sure if it would fit him or if he would ride it because they only had the smaller version due to low stock of items. Brought the bike home, and my son refused to use it for a month. I called the store who informed me they have a Zero Return policy. Ive never bought anything before at a store that doesnt inform you of a Zero Return policy prior to a purchase. Never would have bought the bike here if I knew it couldnt be returned even in brand new, completely untouched condition. Definitely wont shop here again.
I literally can’t say enough amazing things about Dan and the incredible team at Merrick Bicycles at 1829 Merrick Ave in Merrick. I was in a really big bind and they went above and beyond to help me and make a some holiday magic come true! They embody the true meaning of why it’s so important to shop local and support our amazing local establishments. Thank you to Dan and everyone at Merrick Bicycles - I owe you big time!
This place by far has to be absolute worst bike shop on Long Island. I normally go to Brands or REI for any and everything related to bike. Both places super busy and ended up going here, not busy at all, now I wonder why! A very simple bike computer to put on my brand new $ 5500 Pinarello bike, Full Carbon. I had picked up the bike just last night, never even rode the bike yet. They charge $30 just to put it on while most bike shops dont even charge you if you purchased the product which I did from Dan the owner. When they brought the bike, they had dropped and damaged a full carbon brand new bike. Instantly they blamed me for it and very nasty and arrogant. I was speechless. I will sue and file formal complaint. Dan is an absolute horrible dishonest owner operator to deal with. How come nothing was mentioned about cameras and all that when I bought the issue to your attention!!!Whay didnt you show me the footage of your camera when I was there?
Disappointed in service , months ago the owner sold me splash guards for two bikes he told me would fit. i could not get them on , figured i didnt know what i was doing . so now that it reopened i went waited an hour cause of covid social distancing and because owner thought it was a good idea just to have 1 repair guy on weekends .the repair guy said they dont fit the bikes but he can sell me new ones. i explained situation. he said nothing can be done.im trying not to overreact but i wasted money on two sets, i was told by owner they would fit. smfh .also the bycycle is brand new only used 3 times by my kid, it needed a brake adjustment to tighten. very simple. i mentioned it. and his first solution was that i buy brand new brakes instead of using the “cheap ones” that came on the bike. smh seems i will go back to the old man at lynbrook bycycles a little out of the way . . but he was professional and made sure things fit. and didnt try to upsell things . he actually talked me out of buying new things cause he said it was fine or not needed . just disappointed all around
TL;DR - Very nice and extremely helpful staff. A bit expensive but its a small business and the overall quality is excellent. Turnaround time was outstanding.Full Story:Background - I have two bikes, both were bought, not sure where from, for me and my brother back in 2006. From 2006-2010 I would ride no matter how far away my destination was or how the weather was.Decision - So eleven years later, I decided to get them tuned up. Sure I could have just bought new bikes but these bikes have sentimental value and, just like an old car, needed have a few small fixes and tunes.Pricing - I had never been to a bike shop before then. And since then I have not been to any other bike shops to compare exact prices but I can say that Merrick Bicycles is a bit pricey, for even just a tune up, however the results made it well worth it. My, and my brothers, eleven year old bikes feel brand new and encourage me do to ride again.Expenses - After tuning up the bikes, and replacing one back wheel, (story for another time) I ended up dropping maybe south of $400. But that was me going all out on tuning these things to pristine condition. Being conservative, I could have spent probably half of that.Customer Service - The owner, receptionist, and the young man who fixed my bikes, were an amazing group of people. They were very informative and more than happy to assist me.Overall Experience - All in all, I would highly recommend using this bicycle shop. Although you may spend a bit more than expected, it is worth the expenses, plus youd be supporting a small business. If I could rate by numbers, I would give it a 9 out of 10.
Horrible customer service. I bought tires and hand grips during the pandemic. I went to return the grips and they were closed and another day there was a line out the door . They refused to go past there 7 day return policy even though I had the receipt and they were unused in package. Even worse I told him over the phone is was past 7 days he told me to come down then he refused the return. It was just past 21days. Most stores are extending there return policy during the pandemic. Thanks for not accommodating me over 39.99 and telling me on the phone to come down
Service is horrible can’t answer the phone says there open online then when i get there they tell me “right now we’re only building bikes come back another day to repair your bike.” i recommend you go to brands in wantagh they are very fast and reliable these guys don’t know what they are doing they also love to rip people off be smart
Had a great experience purchasing a bike from here. I dont know much about bikes except how to ride them but I learned a lot from the knowledgeable and helpful staff. They answered any questions I had and gave me a great deal on I bike. I dont think I would buy a bike from anywhere else after this experience. Thank you.
Merrick Bicycles in the bike shop Merrick has always needed. This place offers competitive prices, a friendly and knowledgable staff and a service department that will keep your bike running smoothly. Its so great to have a local shop that caters to the individual customer, rather than having to go to one of those bigger bike stores that feel more like factories. Welcome to the neighborhood, Merrick Bicycles!
Merrick Bicycles is the place to go for all of your cycling needs. Whether you have a young child just getting on their first bike with training wheels or you are an avid cyclist (or somewhere in between), the guys at Merrick Bicycles will provide the individual attention thats required for your specific needs. Its really great having a local bike shop here in Merrick, something that was definitely needed. I would highly recommend stopping in to see the store, talk shop with the staff and see for yourself the extraordinary customer experience you will have. Small businesses are the backbone for our economy, so get out there and support the great team at Merrick Bicycles - you wont be disappointed!!!!

2021-08-11After 20 years I decided to purchase a bicycle! I suppose life gets in the way of the things you enjoy. Without getting too into my feelings, I searched everywhere for a Trek Marlin 6 (M/L). I went to a Trek bike shop and the wait time was 3 months. I didnt want the summer to go by so I kept searching. Sadly, it wasnt in-stock anywhere in the tristate area. I finally found one at Merrick Bicycles. I placed an order over the phone and the next day it was ready! Their customer service and offerings are wonderful. I drove all the way from Jersey and am glad I did. Look at my beautiful bike people! Thank you!

2022-04-03Only problem with this place is it’s open 7 days a week and it’s a ten minute ride. Well stocked place from kids bikes to higher end bikes along with tools and riding gear. Workshop and tech’s very accommodating. Dangerous for your pocket book to much nice stuff on the walls.

2021-07-02This place is way over priced! Dont waist your money. After spending $1100 on a bicycle 2 years ago and having it serviced not even 2 weeks ago, the chain broke .I bought a new one and they want to charge me another $20 to put it on. What a joke.I understand people need to make a living but if you have loyal customers you should keep them happy. Theyre number one priority certainly isnt the customer.

2021-10-23HIGHLY RECOMMEND Merrick Bicycles. I had such a wonderful first time experience just now . The place, presentation, products, people, and professional service are all so perfect. “Warren” greeted me & explained and even chi-chatted with me on leaving . “Scott” stopped what he was doing to work on my bike. “Art” pleasantly welcomed me and rang me up. Run don’t walk (or just bike ;-)) to this place TODAY!

2021-10-16My son brought his bicycle in and the guy wanted to charge him $200 for things he did not need such as new tires and a new chain. He said No thanks and we took it to Castle Hill Bike shop near my house and they charged !79.99 and said the chain only needed to be lubricated, not changed and that there was nothing wrong with the tires. It did need a front tube and other minor wor Burt it only cost $79.99 to repair.
