So Marion is the best watering hole in the entire east Harlem. Why?Apart from the affordable drinks; lively music; grown up crowd; great vibe all around; food; and more drinks. Theres also a pool table if your a billiards nut. Best of all, you have the one and only Regina as your welcoming mixologist. Regina always has a smile; greets and acknowledges your visits and... And..she remembers your favorite drinks. So all that and you dont have to keep asking for refills; Regina knows when you need a fill up or have had enough. Entire staff is super welcoming. Centrally located off 2nd Ave/95th, Manhattan (Q train drops you at the door). Come enjoy with us at Marion Square.
Great place! Been coming here since I moved to the neighborhood 6 years ago. Staff is always nice and attentive. Food is great I love the burgers and they have curly fries and tater tots! but you can’t go wrong with anything you choose! Always have a wide selection of beer. Sports on all the time, and they’ll put the sound on for important games.
Wandered in because of the close proximity to the hotel where Im staying and limited restaurant options because of COVID. I was expecting typical pub fare but was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I tried to order a turkey burger which they were out of, so I opted for the grilled chicken wrap with avocado instead. Sounds simple enough, but it was really outstanding! Friendly staff too. Would return and would recommend.
Merrion Square looks like a dive bar, but, fooled you, it is not. The bar has a grubby look with a non-descript exterior and dark interior. Go in though and discover many interesting and tasty beers. Service is fast, helpful and friendly. They serve simple basic food. The cheesesteak is very good. Burgers are satisfying and tasty. French fries come in three fine varieties. You have only limited choices, but they work, and portions are generous. Beer prices are a little high -- see, not a dive bar -- but, interestingly, food prices are relatively cheap.
I think its a decent place, but it doesnt feel like it excels at any one thing anymore. The free burger with a beer used to be a nice deal, but thats only during happy hour. Beer prices are all on the high side, so there arent any deals outside of Happy Hour anymore. The staff is good, and helpful but the food isnt anything special.
This is one of the best bars in this neighbourhood! Their wings are so flavorful and delicious! They craft tap beer is also really good and not pricey like the other bars around! Definetly nice spot for friday night with friends! Looking forward to come back to this place again!
I just spent the weekend in New York for a bachelor party and we found this spot out of luck. Great atmosphere and good food with local brews... what more could you need? It is a chill spot with great music to hold a get together. Made the weekend a great success. Much love and appreciation from James and his Groomsmen!!!
My third time there while traveling for business and the bartender Murph is always friendly introducing himself & offering a handshake. Great craft beer selections that are always changing. Ask for a sample to try something new. Standard bar food menu. The wraps are great and the tots are extra crispy!
For the price, it is amazing. They have a wide selection of foods. Plenty of places to sit at and waiters are very attentive. Although the sushi selection is somewhat below average, I am not complaining because the price is great. They also have soups, a wide variety of chinese and desserts. They also have some Asianified western foods ( I wouldnt recommend the pizza. There is a 2 hour limit for staying and eating ( which I thought was more than enough), but Ill add that so readers can deicde. Will definitely visit again in the future.
I live right near this place and have always ignored it… but one day I decided to go in here to give it a shot. I went on a Thursday at 6:30ish with the intention of just eating… Im not a big drinker. Its a small place and it wasnt very crowded. Food and drinks need to be ordered at the bar and there is a sign on the table stating so. Which was nice, so that way I wasnt sitting at the table like an idiot for an hour. The menus are already on the table though so no need to retrieve it at the bar. Sit down, find what you want, then walk up to the bar and order. They did bring the food and drinks directly to us however. I did have to go back to the bar for refills and to get my check though which was no big deal. But the staff was very friendly and the food was AWESOME and affordable. A burger is $14 (15 with cheese) and it comes with fries. And they have a variety of different kinds of fries to choose from including waffle fries! This place is truly a gem and Im glad I opted to stumble into this place. I cant speak to how the drinks are though they seem to be a standard bar that doesnt specialize in any particular drink. I could be wrong. But like I said, I went fairly early on a Thursday so it was not a big crowd or anything which I liked. I cant speak to if this is a go-to bar on a Friday or Saturday night. But if you want a small quiet place to eat (its mostly just regular pub food… chicken fingers, burgers, mozz sticks etc), I highly recommend it if youre in the neighborhood. And for what its worth, this spot is directly across the street from the Q train… like literally a 50 foot walk. So easy to commute to if you choose to do so. The M96 bus stops super close to it as well.
This has been a favorite place to visit when I want a beer while I stayed in the neighborhood. They have an excellent selection of craft beers on tap, and friendly and helpful staff on the other side of the bar. The craft beer selection is mostly American breweries, but reflects a spectrum of styles, including a number of sours. Some minor negatives for me, which you are not likely to care about: there style designations on the menu board are occasionally wrong (an American Brown with obvious American hops was classified as an English Brown, for example); and they, along with nearly every other pub in the area, has absolutely no traditional UK ales other than Guinness Stout. I know, that doesnt worry you. You certainly should go for a visit. You, like I, will feel right at home.
This place is right down the block from me and it always a good place to hang out with friends because it nice and spacious. However the only reason I cant give it five star because the men bathroom is like a whole in the wall. God bless anyone that has to take a number 2 in that bathroom. Besides that I wish they have great special during big events or for happy hour.
Merrion Square is a cool little pub on the UES. The craft beer selection is first class and the food is delicious (get the wings and the fish tacos, can’t go wrong with either). What really makes this place a cut above though is the service. Both bartenders were friendly, social, and attentive. They made me feel like a local. I have been here three days and been to Merrion Square twice and it already feels like my neighborhood bar. Mitch is a down to earth guy from Philly who takes the time to learn his customers names and relate to them personally. I wish I would have gotten the name of my bartender Sunday night; not only was she gorgeous and funny, she just took really good care of everyone sitting at that bar. Don’t miss Merrion Square if you are in the UES.
Amazing amount of beer on tap, and even more bottled. for a few blocks of walking the reward is an A-list of craft and local beer, a free burger with almost any beer, and a free basket of wings with a pitcher priced right.Im big on belguim and craft and Merrion Sq has all my favourites along with new ones that Ive only found here.make sure to hit this sports bar up if youre within a three block radius.
Lived in the neighborhood 40yrs nd 1 afternoon 2018 i finally decided to go inside, Woman I met behind the bar LG she was beyond awesome. She made me feel like id been coming for years. Its the place I go now when i want a beer and good food. Me and my friends try to go on LGs shifts cause she always knows what drinking lol.
Seriously one of my favorite bars despite the unknowledgeable bartenders and the horrible (frozen; clearly supermarket bought and reheated)food. And whats with the B rating from the health department? I love the ambiance, metrocard art exhibit and the lay out. I would come here again and again.
If youre into craft beer, make sure to stop in for a pint. The prices arent going to be the bargain of the century, but the variety is worth a pint. The bar has TVs playing whatever major sporting event is on and On Sundays, this place is a Philadelphia Eagles bar with a cool local/travelers crowd.
Sometimes I just crave a great dive bar and this is EXACTLY that. Located on 96th and 2nd, Merrion Square is a super laid back, great place to hang out that has a local neighborhood-bar type of vibe. Besides the great beer selection they have plenty of entertainment to partake in as the drinks start flowing such as, a pool table, Buckhunter and Skeeball (my favorite)! They also have a cool special that you get a free burger when you buy a beer or free wings when you buy a pitcher of beer. I have tried a few of their apps and while they were nothing special, they were great when you are craving simple bar food.

2022-04-14Merrion square is always a good spot for some low key fun. The wings were really good and fried pickles were also pretty decent. Good selection of beers and lots of TVs to watch.

2022-03-09Was there for a really great art show. Did t have any food, but the beer selection is off the wall. Dark stouts, IPAs, and such a great selection makes it hard not to just drink all night...l

2021-12-31I stopped in on my way home to get a take out order of fish and chips. The bartender was nice and although we didn’t have a lot of interaction, I saw her with the other patrons and she was really attentive. Place was clean and overall a pretty fun setting. I was between a 3 and 4 star rating for the fact that the fish was not good….at all. I paid $21 to only eat the fries (which were awesome) and coleslaw. The fish was fine in itself, but the batter is absolute trash. No flavor or seasoning. Pretty much tasted like cardboard.

2019-03-27Merrion Square is one of my favorite spots when I find myself a little further north than usual. They have an awesome atmosphere, with curated artwork on the walls (which I believe is for sale and changes periodically), great beer selection, and they serve food so you have a reason to wash it down with that beer. The bartenders are funny and down to earth (I know youre not dating them sorry theyre also good bartenders). They have lots of TVs to show boxing and MMA matches, in addition to your favorite sport. They may be a little further north than your spoiled butt is used to but in my opinion it is always worth the trip out of the way. Plus its right off the Q so now you have no excuse.

2019-02-12This is my favorite local pub. A fantastic pub with a sweet flair of both Ireland and Philly. Service is superb and so is the fare. The taps are consistently fresh and the same goes for the food. Murph, at the bar, who I encounter all the time, is a class act. His presence and service is second to none; the pub as a whole is a very cozy place for the localities of Yorkville, and from far away. I highly recommend Merrion Square. Enjoy!

2022-02-14Placed a takeout order. Get there & they didnt honor the price they gave me on the phone. Waited 2 1/2 times as long as they told me. Then they got my order wrong. Realized afterwards they charged me twice. DO NOT GO HERE!
