A fun place for your next happy hour. $8 classic margaritas and $8 cab, now that’s my kinda place. It has a vibrant energy and the staff is friendly, the food options are plenty and the taste is delicious. Can’t ask for much more in nyc.My favs: the burnt brisket brown rice bowl (well more like a plate) and the crispy fish taco.Second fav was the Nashville chicken taco.Their tacos are a good size and filling. Of course just one per order but three were a proper meal.
As a Californian, I would normally turn up my nose at the thought of having Mexican food in New York City. Most of my experiences in that vein have been disappointing. But MexiCUE was a nice exception. My margarita was strong but yummy. And the two vegetarian tacos I tried, the deep fried avocado and the pulled mushroom barbecue, were both treats for the senses. Vegetarian Mexican inspired barbecue: worth your consideration.
This is our go to spot in the Chelsea area. Our last visit was the first time we had to pay attention to gluten. Service was okay except server wasnt too knowledgeable in what is gluten-free and what can be modified etc. We went with safe options and a pitcher of sangria. Everything was delicious. Prior to the pandemic their paper menus had gluten free markings if Im not mistaken next to the food but now everything is mobile so they have a new menu layout.Overall its a worthwhile stop, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is laid back. Well be going back
This place is very pretty and has a good location. There’s a station near this place. People are also very nice and kind. Their margarita and tacos were super good too.I’ve tried many taco places in manhattan but this place was the best. Warm and delicious. I had pork one and lobster one. I recommend pork more. It was really delicious.
Been here twice now and each time (at wholly different days/times) has been absolutely phenomenal. Not to oversell it and set unrealistic expectations, but their various margaritas so far are all delicious, the food has been 100% delectable, and everyone we have met who works here has been truly kind and personable. Mexicue is quickly becoming our favorite restaurant in NYC. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
So I’m sad, I wished it was a treat, but I got two tacos one that was frozen shrimp like still icy, and before I could stop the bartender she took my 1/4 drink that was supposed to be a non sweet margarita but it was still sweet. And then after waiting for ten minutes w backs facing me they scolded me for barely making happy hour. I had 13 minutes to go - seemed unnecessary. It was wasn’t very good and I won’t go back.
Update 11/24/21:Back for Happy hour dinner,We sat at a mini-booth, slightly more comfortable than the bar stools.I had a Nashville hot, burnt ends and grilled chicken tacos, all good.GF had the large jambalaya bowl - really good. And cornbread for dessert, good. The house margaritas are now $7.50 during happy hour.First time here (12/14/19). We sat at the bar for Happy hour [4-7p 7d/wk] Ashley was our BT. She did a fine job answering our questions and providing good service. The House Rita was a good one especially at $6.50.The pulled pork taco was definitely a good choice, packed with goodness. The Nashville hot was medium is spice but a small portion and the cod taco was smaller too. Both were tasty though. The Tuna ceviche tostada was another great choice! The Gf loved that tuna. I had a jambalaya bowl too, it had good flavor & next time Ill get the larger size, it had a little spice (very mild).Well be back at some point. The bar stools are not very comfortable :(But they have two person mini-booths... Thats where well sit next time 😉
The wait staff was terrible. The waitress had finger nails that were so long she had trouble handling the plates and glasses. They delivered the appetizers main meal and salads all at the same time. She told us that we could not order anything else from the bar because it was last call. She got a bad attitude when we asked for refills on our water. Food was sub par. Not at all what you would expect from a Manhattan restaurant. They serve their Margurittas in a rocks glassAs a bartender for many years this stood out to me. Bad experience all around. Plus the long fingernails are just not sanitary or appropriate for food service people.
Decent happy hour 8 classic margarita 5 tecate beer. Giving 3 stars because waiter recommended nachos and 4 dips then loaded nachos which was essentially the same dish, just with the toppings on top. Didnt recommend tacos or offer suggestions to any of their popular dishes. The most disappointing part was when the bill came the tip was already added, which wasnt a problem. The issue was that the waiter added an additional +7 percent tip to the tab, didnt notice until after I recieved texted receipt.
The food came out sooooooooooooo fast!!!! The chips were fresh and so was everything else. Don’t bother with the fried avocado taco. Nothing impressive. The cheese sauce and the corn bread were really great as well as the friend fish taco. Not very expensive but also not cheap either. But the place is nice. And the servers are attentive.
Food was tasty but it was unbelievably loud inside and the server didnt seem to know what vegan meant, which is kinda ridiculous in NYC in 2022. They were also completely out of cashew queso, probably not their fault but considering thats why I wanted to go and it severely limited my options... Id only go back if I called ahead and verified they had it.
I came here with some friends even though I didnt really like Mexican food anyways but I thought maybe I should be open to trying again. Im really sorry but I did not really enjoy any of the food at all. I ordered the Kale and seasonal roasted veggie with chicken large and it was so spicy that I couldnt enjoy it anymore and had to stop eating it. They really should mention how spicy their food can be on the menu or something because no where on the menu for the salad I ordered mentioned this at all. Not only that, but it was just a very plain salad. The chips and guac we ordered were pretty good though, I will say that. My boyfriend ordered some tacos and he loves spicy food but it was so spicy he couldnt even eat it anymore. In terms of service, our waitress kept disappearing and wasnt really around that much. I dont want to say she was mean but she wasnt exactly inviting or welcoming either. Overall, if you love spicy food, then this for sure is the spot for you but if you dont and decide to come here, make sure to ask whats spicy and what isnt. Giving this place 3 stars cause of the service.
There were 4 of us ordering off the Sunday brunch menu. The corn bread french toast which seems rather unique was excellent, according to my friend. The remaining 3 of us had the burrito bowl and the breakfast burrito which were also very good. The coffee left much to be desired but the service was very friendly. We would visit again and recommend it.
This was delicious!! We didnt originally intend to go here, but the wait was too long at 2 previous restaurants and as we were waiting we saw the lights and energy here! We asked how long for a table and they said we could take a seat. We did and immediately ordered seasonal mimosas. Those were a great start to a great meal. I ordered the BBQ pork bowl and my boyfriend got fish and pork tacos and we were thrilled with everything!
My server, Victor, was amazing ! The tacos are delicious and made with love (says the chef that came to visit on my last experience) and the atmosphere is buzzing during the later half of happy hour !I would definitely recommend!(The guac is great and the queso is a solid have, but could use a little more kick)
Shout-out to Ms. Ines for the awesome experience! Best waitress ive ever been served by. Got to reccomend her if you get the chance, such a warm experience. Also really reccomend Mexicues chicken tacos, but really damn near everything was fine. The pulled pork was sweeter than expected not my kind, overall great restaurant here in NYC
Pretty good food overall. The bowls are delightful and have plenty of fresh ingredients. The bowls are a mix between salad and burrito bowl but I would have loved to have more meat and less salad. Didnt get a chance to try the tequila but they have a large selection to fit any taste. Our waiter was very nice and the service was great.
Food was good and the drinks were good. The only reason Im giving this 4 stars is because an employee there threatened to beat up my friend for using the restroom. Doesnt make sense I know but It really happened. Other then that this place is great for food and drinks
We went there on a Friday night so it was too crowded. Too noisy you can’t even hear yourself. Google maps shows this place $$ but i think it’s $$$. I wasn’t hungry enough so ordered only to try the food here. Here in the picture is a fried avocado taco and a small avocado chicken slider. 6-7 dollars for 1 taco 🌮 and again, 6-7 dollars for only 1 slider. I don’t know it seemed a little pricey to me. Other $$ restaurants usually serve 3 tacos or 3 sliders for 12 to 15 dollars.. 🤷♀️ But i must say they were delicious and i liked it. 👍
Honestly, I’m usually disappointed with Mexican restaurants because they lack authenticity when it comes to their food. The plant based nachos were really good. The smoky chicken burrito was gross, lacked flavor, and the chicken gave me jerk chicken vibes not smoky chicken. Also the portions are pretty small so be mindful when ordering. The margaritas were all right. Wouldn’t recommend this place.
Nice little place to stop for lunch, with a good variety of tacos. We did not do a deep dive on the menu. Service was fine, although our server seemed to have too much area to cover. It was a little on the pricey side for what we got, but close to a lot of attractions so worth it!
Pretty good overall with some unique options. They have burrito bullets — mini burritos — which are perfect if you’re not wanting an enormous serving. They also offered healthy alternatives to chips and guacamole (pictured below). The drinks were tasty but on the pricier end and service was fine. Great for a lighter dinner before going out, for groups, and a menu with a wide variety.
Went today for Happy hour weekend brunch. The service was really terrific, our server was friendly and super efficient. The brunch options are very good, the breakfast burrito and huevos rancheros with pulled pork added both delicious. Only fault, the breakfast Margs made with orange juice are too sweet with the orange juice drowning out any tequila flavor. Have had regular margaritas there before and theyre fine.
I love Mexican food. Therefore I am very picky about Mexican restaurants.I came for dinner to Mexicue and I gotta say it is now in my top 5 favorite restaurants in New York. The guacamole is amazing. Enchiladas are to die. The chicken with mole is like being make in Mexico City . I highly recommend it
I have been there before and had a great time. Tonight was a surreal experience, the hostess initiated a confrontation with a woman which quickly escalated mainly because of the hostess. The woman was with a younger woman and having the sampler of margaritas. The hostess asked for id for the other woman. This sparked a debate. But I have a liquor business so knowing the law I was surprised.a parent is allowed to give their own child a drink. Not get them intoxicated but serve them a drink.the hostess thought this was the intention which from the reaction of the younger woman it wasnt. The hostess not only took the drinks and refused to serve them which she has a right to, but her mistake was she charged the woman for the drinks while taking them away. Essentially theft of service on her part. The hostess was wrong in her approach and her actions. I hope the owner makes right on this I would like to continue to go there knowing they did the right thing.
I was having some dinner here with my co-worker, after a hard day of working and I had to wait extra long to be seated and when I was finally seated the lady who works here the hostess who seated me told me off and gave me a very big attitude and even made a personal comment and said that i think I’m entitled because I’m white ??? because I asked how longer the wait would be for a table mind you I never had a attitude... the waitresses was nice but the lady ruined my experience overall she’s very rude she’s African American with braids and tall. and I even found a curly black hair in my food ( I’m a blonde )
Snotty chica asked an equally dense chica- ella paga? Right in front of me. Duh?! So I responded- yes I did pay, but why did you feel the need to ask her in Spanish, instead of me in English? She said sorry. For this I should tip?! Heres a tip- dooshey behavior is not going to help Mexicue stay afloat. Put no blame on the pandemic for staffing issues bec. customer service is supposed to be taught as job #1. Its funny bec. I started not to go in secondary to hearing from someone who recommended against this place that their attitudes were funky.I had a burnt end taco and the house nachos w/ guacamole. Both mediocre. An overpriced treat at best. Ill keep bringing my leftovers for lunch.Update 1/2022. My friend insisted on going here after picking me up from work. Still a 1. Good waitstaff. Greasy rice, fake cheese and I couldnt eat the food. She had 2 old shrimps on a taco. She was so mad. I tried to tell her, but she learned the hard way.
I had the fish taco, burnt ends taco and shuck corn. Everything was delicious. The regular guacamole was just okay, next time Ill try one of the speciality guacamoles. They look very appetizing. Definitely will go again.. They have variety of Tequila, if youre into that. Happy hour ends at 7pm.
This is my first experience at this place me and my friends came here just to try it out I had a chicken taco but the taco was very dry it had no flavor. So when I told the waitress so she went to go get the manager she was extremely rude to us and told us we cannot get a refund even though we didn’t even finish it. The waitresses was nice but the African-American lady with braids was awfully rude she also called me and my friends White girls? I never experienced anything like this before. I do not recommend this place but I do recommend for the African-American woman to be fired immediately she can really ruin someone’s experience at Mexicue.
The grilled chicken tacos was way too dry and the guacamole was way too watery and worst of all the African-American lady The hostess was extremely rude for no reason. she was very angry at the beginning when we first walked in and she also called my mother a drunk because she was tasting the margaritas.I do not recommend this place at all
My experience was awful. Me and my mother haven’t seen each other since a few months due to me traveling for my Job so she took me out to have dinner and catch up a lady came and sited us once we sat down to our table she walked away very aggressively I waited till she came back to asked for some water and she rolled her eyes and walked away as I was speaking to her she comes back to take our orders everything is fine I don’t bring it up I let it go not to make anyone uncomfortable my mother orders a alcoholic drink I do not since I am 5 years sober. My mother and me is being a little loud laughing just happy to see each other the lady comes back calling me a drunk yelling at me making me feel very bad and upset since I am 5 years sober it really triggered my anxiety i worked very hard just to have some lady accuse me of being a drunk and disrespect me she didn’t give us our food and made us pay
A Mexican star has dimmed….former Mexicue fan here. Glad to see the restaurant reopened but service was pretty poor and food quality disappointing. Menu is fairly limited which should allow for ease of prep and quality maintenance. Could not say anything about the margaritas as we had none. The bartender was clearly overwhelmed trying to manage on her own. The restaurant seems understaffed and ill prepared to be busy. Too bad.
Probably the best and nicest experience I have had in a WHILE. We reccomend Ines as a server, knows what she is doing, on top of that very sweet ! Food was superb and the restaurant was fitting but on the small side (beautiful place). Will happily come back, and I will make sure to reccomend this place.
Staff was distracted, However food was as good as always. Pulled pork taco, yum burnt ends brisket taco also delicious. My friend got the small plate serving of pulled pork bowl. It was plenty! The drinks were great! Smoky Margherita to start and sangria with dinner for mem. My friend had the bloody Mary, said it was perfect, she also opted for the sangria with dinner.
Pros:1.) friendly and accommodating staff. My friends asked them to bring out a surprise cake for my birthday and they lit it up and brought out extra plates and forks for us to eat the cake.2.) fast service.3.) clean table and restroom.Cons:1.) The food was definitely OVERPRICED for the portion size. Sadly my friends and I were not full after paying $260.2.) COVID guidelines. They ask you to keep your mask on if your standing however the tables are not 6 feet apart. The back of my tables chairs were almost hitting the other tables chairs where another party was sitting. We were able to hear some of their conversations and I’m sure they heard ours. They have a lot of room in the back but I’m not sure if its open for people. Maybe they should use that space to give people more air.
I came here for dinner on a weekday night, and it was basically full! Thankfully, we made a reservation before so we didnt have to wait. We were given menus upon getting seated and I settled on getting a shrimp taco and a wild cod taco. We also shared the corn. The food took a while to come out, and when it did it wasnt very hot; all the food was lukewarm. The corn was very fresh and crunchy, and the sauce used was tasty too. The vegetables that came on the side with it were very flavorless, but I again could taste the freshness. My tacos were decent and when they gave them to us, they also gave us some hot sauce: one was tangy and sweet while the other one was smoky and had somewhat of a kick. The latter one was definitely better for me as the former was too sweet. Anyway, I really liked the freshness of all the ingredients, and the tortilla was really chewy too. The shrimp and fish were quite delicious. The price point for these tacos is too high for the size of them; each taco I had was about $7 pre-tax which is pretty ridiculous if you ask me! The ambiance and decor are pleasant but its pretty loud. The service isnt bad as our waters were filled up and we were checked up on once during our meal otherwise.
My friend and I were seated quickly. Our server Mike was very friendly and personable and was spot on with drink recommendations. Both the Montauk and Moondance drinks were phenomenal. The burnt ends and pulled pork tacos were absolutely delicious. We will be back and I would recommend this place to anybody.
We visited this Mexicue recently and we were very disappointed. We ordered chips and queso along with cocktails after grabbing dinner elsewhere in the neighborhood. The chips were extremely stale and there weren’t enough compared to the dip. The chips literally tasted like they were a few days old. We mentioned this to the server and she returned with “new” chips but mentioned that they aren’t made at that location so they don’t have control over the quality of their chips. Even this batch of chips were stale and tasted odd. Lesson learned: do not order anything with chips at Mexicue. (I know, getting Mexican food without chips and guacamole, salsa or queso isn’t the same, but I’m warning you!)I’ve had better experiences at Mexicue previously, which is why I have this a 2. Their happy hours cocktail deals are great.
I was pleasantly surprised. The food here is really delicious. I had a sangria, shrimp taco, and chicken burrito. We also shared the poblano queso chips and dip. Everything was delicious. We arrived at 6pm on a Friday. It was crowded and loud with slightly slow service but, the food was totally worth it and the server was nice.
I recently brought a group of 16 people to this Mexicue location before catching a show across the street at the Joyce. I had one hour to get everyone in and fed. The manager was kind enough to take my order ahead of time which made it extremely convenient and worked out perfectly. Brie was our waitress and she was amazing. We are a large group (with lots of teenagers) and she not only made sure we were well taken care of but she also took on the task of my difficult split bill with a smile. Did I mention the food and drinks were AMAZING. It also had a very nice ambiance. Highly recommend! Thank you Mexicue!
Worst experience Ever and what made it so bad was the hostess I ordered Kearny Asada cilantro and onion she brought me three tacos with cheese and I told her I’m sorry to complaint but I’m lactose intolerant The waitress was nice and try to fix it for me the hostess told me she could make me a new order but I have to pay for the order that I could have not eat ? Everything would have been OK if it wasn’t for the hostess she is extremely rude and shouldn’t be in charge at a restaurant she don’t even care for its The African American what braids was extremely rude this is why I will never go here again not only treated fair but I was embarrassed
I love this place ESPECIALLY the cornbread! Its a must have! Its amazingly delicious. Its warm/lightly grilled with what tastes like cinnamon butter. The tacos are also super delicious. They have a vegetarian option made with cauliflower which was pretty tasty. They also have a perfect array of tequilas and other mixed drinks.
We LOVE LOVE LOVE Mexicue! We ate outside during the pandemic and enjoyed the experience immensely. Our server, Jonik, was kind, fun, and very attentive! Thank you, Jonik!! The food was absolutely delicious. I had a wonderful beet taco and my best friend loved her lobster taco. The vegan nachos were great, but a little spicy for our taste. I also had a jungle juice drink and loved this too. My bff liked her margaritas. The restaurant was very clean and careful about taking all necessary safety precautions. We will definitely be back-- thank you Mexicue!
We came here during the first week it was opened, and were really impressed! The menu is really fresh, and therefore loaded with great flavor. I am not even a particularly big fan of fish, but my wife got the Tuna and I was amazed by how wonderful it tasted.Fun menu overall and good prices!
Atmosphere is very good. Happy to see a new place like this on 8th Avenue. The Food is pretty good. Portions on the smaller side, but thats to be expected with tapas style. Margaritas are good, but a little overpriced. Unfortunately service is slow and waitresses are not very friendly.
If you like spicy food this is the place to go. I went there with a couple of my girlfriends for a brunch and a few of us asked for mild but their definition of mild is spicy. we had to send back a plate to get no spice on it but it still had some kick to it but tolerable. We did enjoy the mimosas and mojitos!
When we first walked in the hostess was extremely rude we asked her if there was a bathroom and she told us no and I find out at yhe end of our dinner that there was a bathroom weird she was African-American and she had short braids and she was tall I don’t know her name because she wouldn’t give it to me and she forcefully told us that we have to sit outside when we showed our Covid cards and there was many tables inside they were emptyThe food is ok They had a jalapeño margarita drink it was actually extremely spicy to spicy and also a cockroach decided to join us at our table seriously so wasn’t happy with this place
Terrible service at the bar during happy hour. Bar was unattended multiple times and bartender was not pleasant. I had to ask about happy hour specials. She did not ask if I wanted to order food. I had to eat without a napkin, so I took a napkin from a nearby table. She was attentive after I signed the check and added the tip. Otherwise, she was missing throughout my time there.
If you’re looking for a small bite and some food cocktails, this is your place.I’ve been here a couple of times and it’s a very cute establishment, quite crowded during their happy hour and weekends. Food is not excessive which is great, and the price isn’t outrageous either.Definitely whenever I’m around and in the mood for a quick bite, I’ll stop here.
Went to the location at Chelsea, they have another one on 5th Ave I believe and maybe others..the food is good, tortilla chips on the nachos taste amazing, but a little chain like with a TV playing videos on the bar, a bit of a corporate vibe but with very cool staff and great prices too. Pork tacos are a go, skip the pork sliders and the fish taco is great! The corn bread portion is huge, and really good too! Also great margaritas, specially on a happy hour deal
We had an awful experience . This doesn’t deserve one star but it won’t allow me to post unless a star is chosen!!!We were greeted by someone dressed as if they had been pulled in off the street who swore , once using the ‘F’ word!!She threw the menus into the table after leaving us waiting and not acknowledging usThe next waiter, although pleasant, again looked like a pedestrian rather than a waiter .The food was luke warm.We only stayed because we were drenched and my 2 daughters didn’t want a fuss. They just wanted something to eat and go. I didn’t say anything for them .Disgusting from start to finishI hope people are spoken to and sacked for this
I ate here because I happened to park in front of the restaurant. Delicious small plate tacos and tostada. And yes, a fried avacodo is a thing and a delicious one at that. The Smoky margarita= excellent. I had two. And I must give the cleanliness of their bathroom an A grade. Will go again.
They charged me $2 for ice cubes in my drink....that is just retarded! Food was good not great . Service was very slow and forgetful . Server was friendly but forgot my drink and did not bring hot sauce until half the meal was finished. Be warned that the portions are quite small - which normally isnt a problem if you are told in advance. My 2 young kids left hungry after eating an entree .
Awful awful service. Went with a friend at a time it was not too busy in the afternoon. We were seated right away, but waited 15 minutes and didn’t get any type of service. The waitress kept walking by but did not speak to us, make eye contact or give us glasses of water. Went inside to ask the hostess if someone would take our order and she was shocked nobody had served us yet. She said they will be right out. Waited another twenty minutes and even though the waitress kept walking by she never even acknowledged us. We just got up and left after waiting for that long without anyone serving us even though there were only a few customers at the time. The hostess saw us get up and leave and didn’t even try to convince us to stay. My friend and I noticed they were only catering to the white people. I guess if you’re a person of color you are not welcomed here. Would not recommend this place and would never go back. Disgusting!
To be honest, I had mixed feelings about this place. There was really nothing wrong with the service. It had a good atmosphere and I was really feeling the vibe of the place. So we went in and we ordered chips and salsa. I honestly have never had hot salsa before and it tasted alittle more like marinara sause to me. We ended up going through two baskets of chips before our food came.We also ended up ordering some sliders. The server came back about 5 min after we ordered and told us that they were out of slider buns, so I ended up changing the buns to tacos instead.I kind of ended up chocking down the first taco and giving the second one to the guy I came in with. I was not a giant fan.Over all the bill was about $40 for a margarita, chips& salsa and 3 small tacos. I felt like we could have done alittle better eleswhere.
Pretty run of the mill. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. I’d definitely choose another spot if Mexican is what you’re looking for, however, it’s neat that some items are more of a barbecue fusion. On the plus side, the restaurant is rather large if you’re looking for a place that can accommodate a large group.
Incredible food. Bar none some of the best small plates I have had in a long time. Be aware that when they say slider they mean small and only one. All in all amazing food and priced well. Small plates - roughly 10.00. Just enough food for lunch. I will definitely be coming back.
I wish this restaurant was better as it is near the gym I attend several days a week and I love a little treat after the gym. Unfortunately, the food and service has consistently been poor. My friend and I ordered one taco, one kale Caesar salad, and a side of nachos. 45 minutes later we hadnt received our food and asked the waiter to check on it. Oh yeah. I guess it has been a while was his response. We got our food about an hour after ordering. The kale Caesar had some wilted veggies on the bottom with kale thrown on top. No dressing. When I asked where the dressing was, the waiter asked what kind of dressing Id like. I said the one you use for your caesar salad. He then read a list of random dressings to me. Ugh. The nachos had a soupy cheese on them and were lack luster. Also, the music, even on a Tuesday night was so loud that you have to raise your voice to speak to the person next to you.I wish things would be better here, but until they are, Ill have to pass by Mexicue on to some other neighborhood establishments.
Great restaurant, lovely server, reasonably priced food and drinks considering its location. Food comes out super quick and so do the drinks. I first started popping into this cozy spot around Labor Day weekend as I believe this is a new establishment; but, its quite AMAZING. I look forward to returning.
I came in this past Monday for happy hour and was beyond ecstatic with the service and food. Joe suggested the impossible taco to me and I’m already anticipating the next time I’ll be back for more. Definitely a suggestion every vegetarian would be highly pleased with.
This location is much bigger than their 42nd Bryant location. However, the place was packed and they only had two waiters to take care of the entire place. There was at least a 30 wait time between whenever we would order and when we got our items, even if they were just drinks. Our server did let us know about the situation and tried to check up on us when he could. I’ll give this location the benefit of the doubt since I absolutely love the Mexicue Bryant park location. This location actually had stronger house margaritas then the Bryant part location and that’s very hard to come by especially for $5 during happy hour. The food was great if a bit cold due to the wait time.
The mixed margaritas were lovely & well balanced. The Montauk & Mandrita (?) were Smooooth. I had two Montauk margaritas & was ready to act up! The Guac was good. The chicken and brisket taco were two thumbs up. Tip: Dont get the regular (plain) margarita; its a pre mixed blend & has an awful after taste like crystal light.
The staff would do better to keep an eye on the drinks at the table. My friend wanted another margarita, but after sitting with an empty drink for 10 minutes we had to unfortunately wave down our server to get another round. They have to know this is how they make most of their money, considering the food is middling at best. The lighting is completely off as well, we were sitting near the 18th street wall and for some reason the lights were directly overhead and shining in our eyes. I wouldnt ever bring a date here, you would look like a ghoul. After we finished our food and got our check, we moved to the bar to get one more drink to share, and the bartender gave me one of the dirtiest looks I have ever received at a restaurant in NYC. It was laughable actually. And then when she gave us our check for said drink, she wouldnt even look me in the eye and threw the bill down in front of us.So even though I live in the neighborhood and love Mexican food - I wont ever be going back.
Couldnt have had a worse dining experience, but mostly thats because I never got to the dining. Waited a while to order, had to beg the server for attention, ordered food, then 45 minutes later was told it would be another 30 minutes. Then 15 minutes later the manager came to say they couldnt make what I ordered, and wanted to know what else they could get me. I said nothing and left, wasnt waiting around to see how long Id be sitting there.
If I was stuck on an island and could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, I would choose the pork belly blat taco. A generous amount of thick cut bacon filled my heart with love (or maybe it was cholesterol). I left with a full stomach after two tacos, an embarrassing amount of fresh tortilla chips, and the smoky margarita that is perfect for anyone who likes mezcal and digs a spicy kick to a classic drink. Eat up, friends!
Tasty food but horrible customer service.Went there yesterday & it took a while for the waitress to get our drink order in. She only returned to get our food order & even when she saw our empty glasses, she never stopped to ask if we wanted another one. We asked for the bill & continued our evening elsewhere.
Friday Night Frat PartyThe food is decent, as are the margaritas. The service is meh. There are approximately one million people (approximately!) working here and roughly half of them seem only interested in shooting the sh*t with each other. Taking my food and drink order at the bar seems like some kind of inconvenience. There is some kind of heavy metal music screeching from the speakers. The vibe is straight up frat party. The mexican street corn is outstanding however I will have to think very hard about coming back (this being my second visit) as the atmosphere and service are hard to swallow (unlike the street corn).
Its really amazing to see how far this place has come as a brand. The were a small truck and now a franchise including this beautiful location on 8th avenue in Manhattan. This location is actually never over packed which is a blessing making for an easy choice to grab some good tacos and Mexican food with a few drinks and friends. The decor is spacious with good lighting and a wide bar area for seating as well. The backsplash full of many different notable tequilas and mezcals... You can also get beer :PThe tacos and bowls are the stars on the menu so make sure you grab some of that to go with your elote.
Friday afternoon after a client mtg at The Standard hotel-Highline...I was walking down 8th Ave and had use the bathroom and Im so glad I chose this restaurant for my pit stop...this is the 18th street and 8Ave location!Lavante the host was absolutely so welcoming and directed me to the location of the bathroom but as I walked in I kinda lost my train of thought...dont ask...long day and as walk deep into the restaurant Bria the server took upon herself to show me and give directions to the restrooms. It was just that lovely energy that I needed after such a long stressful and I decided to get a bite at the bar and Malyse the bartender was creme dela creme and found out that now they are open for Brunch...cant wait to try their Huevos Rancheros...my favorite Mexican breasfast and their cornbread French toast!!
Terrible terrible terrible terrible.Tacos were terrible, sliders were okay, Bloody Mary was terrible. Chicken tasted like it microwaved.Had brunch here, there’s a reason why people don’t make French toast with corn bread, because..... that’s not French toast.Terrible restaurant.

2022-08-14We went here for our wedding anniversary and had a great lunch. The spicy Margarita was awesome. All the food we ordered was perfect. Loved the brisket tacos although the meat could have been a little softer.

2022-08-14We had a great meal for a lot of people at Mexicue. Mexican food is always a great choice for vegans, but this restaurant goes the extra mile. Not only do you get guacamole and avocado with just about anything (that’s a huge plus for me right there), but they even have gluten free, plant based tacos with delicious mushrooms, and a side of rice and beans. The service was perfect and attentive. Great for big gatherings and events as well as just a casual fun meal.

2022-08-17The food was amazing! I ordered the BLAT taco and burnt end burrito. Both were delicious and hot; the burrito was grilled to perfection and crunchy, filled with loads of awesomeness. The service? Not that great on the day I visited. The host seated me quickly and the server came within a few minutes with my water. Then she disappeared for ten minutes. Well, not really disappeared, she stood about ten feet behind me talking to another employee. For ten minutes. I was ready to order in one. I eventually had to get her attention to come get my order.Food was served quickly and perfect. I was completely done with my meal for about five minutes before she returned to check on my water, which was more than half emptied while I was waiting for her to get my order to begin with. It has been empty for most of my meal. I asked for the check. For some reason I still gave an 18% tip.

2022-06-28Obviously lively and a lovely ambience, staff was friendly and chill. I ordered street corn and tacos. My Nashville chicken tacos was cold and so was corn. If I’m dining in I want my food to be warm/hot. Thus giving less stars

2022-01-23Amazing food and super friendly staff. The restaurant was quite empty when me and my wife were there, but that gave the staff the chance to give us all the attention. Thanks guys!

2022-06-30Definitely had better Mexican food elsewhere but this place wasn’t bad by any means. The seasonal blat taco was pretty good, the charred broccoli was okay. The nachos were good but the Mexican street corn was mediocre at best.

2022-03-07Loved this place!! Really tasty chips, salsa and tacos. The place had a great vibe..lovely serving staff and bar guys. Hidden gem. The only thing I would say the man on the front desk could be a bit more approachable and friendly.

2021-12-08The food and drink are good. The decoration is quite nice. The staffs are decent. The music is so loud. I think theyre prefer themselves as a bar, not a restaurant but the music is way too loud. I barely heard my husband who was sitting next to me what he tried to say. And they dont deserve 4 stars from me because of another reason. The toilet is so smelly and messy.

2022-08-27Food and mood were so good😍However, It would be perfect if the service could be improved. It took a lot of waiting when ordering and even getting the check, and when I finally waited and went to the staff, they didnt seem sorry at all despite not being crowded.
