Michaels in other cities:
This is the largest Michaels, Ive been to. 2 large floors, plenty of room in the isles. Plenty of everything for every project. Shopping at this Michaels is an exploration, you ll find new things and ask whats this for? How does be this work? Or Ohh! I know what I can do!. I went to buy out Michaels artificial trees for my BX Patio next summer $24.
Big nice store, this place has lot of arts and crafts things, a real DIYers paradise, 2 levels of products expertly located on Atlantic ave, as I was traveling the aisles, ideas started pouring in for all the different things that I could do for me and my wife, love that store
Michaels is much better than you would think especially when dealing with wanting to buy art supplies. They have a good selection of oil and acrylic paints and brushes. Every once in a while they run a sale on canvases and you can get canvases at very low prices more than 50% off. Thats probably the best bargain Ive seen. Has a special thank you I posted some pictures of the coosame installation at the Bronx botanical garden in New York. This post is based on my trip to Michaels in Brooklyn heights yesterday.
I am asthmatic I know the rulesI always wear a mask in the stores etcbut today I was weezing and didntI stated I will social distance I just want one thing and I will stay away from others I have a health condition that provides me with an exemptionSecurity photo below did not allow me inI requested manager or supervisorThe lady in other photo stepped in and did not state she was supervisor or manager but did state to security let them do whatever they want I dont care I dont have time for this my brother has asthma and he wears his mask if the cashier refuses service oh wellThen had security the only one in the store guarding the door follow me aroundI suffer from anxiety ave this made me very emotional during these times one of my happy places became a embarrassing nightmare as well as I a customer was taken a photo of by the lady which is illegal they have security cameras for situations like this I took a photo because they refused to provide name she kept her name btag out of site and he had noneThis is your job you sign the contract when accepting I am the customer I even said I will put mask at register if I get closer than 6 ft because its one moment and Im not walking or moving, but I shouldnt have to be treated in such a manner now I hate that store
Im 41Yrs of age and Although Ive heard great things of Michaels throughout the years, I personally never been there. Currently around someone with an artists background I had an awesome 1st time experience at this particular store. How informative and helpful the workers are, walking around assisting customers👍. I was there the 22nd🎄of December 2018, when store was super packed!! with last min🎅shoppers. Yet their works ethics were amazing👏 even under an overwhelming day or few days. Imagine on a regular week. So, guess, I highly recommend you stopping by Michaels/this particular store when visiting or in Brooklyn. A lot of cool items, worth the trip.
It was kinda quiet and empty for a Friday night at Michael’s, but maybe that’s just how they roll in Brooklyn. At my local Michael’s in Queens the place is usually mobbed most evenings. That being said, an empty Michael’s isn’t a negative, just unusual in my experience. Like many Michael’s there are rows and rows of fun art supply eye candy to explore. This two-story version offers plenty of fun aisles to get lost in. Staff was so kind and helpful. My only star off is because, and this going to sound fussy, but I found the store layout confusing and not intuitive. Sometimes you can walk into a Michael’s and instinctively head towards the right aisle, or quickly find the aisle you need- this one looked differently laid out or something. But it was only my first time there so that was just a first impression.
The manager at this location “tyteshia” is extremely rude and unhelpful. She makes this Michaels location look bad. During my last visit, I wanted to return a pack of foam paper however my friend bought it for me and she Insisted that my friend had to return it however, she does not live in NY and did not have a Michaels account. Finally when I looked up Michaels return policy, it says you can return items as “ non receipt return” and just receive credit for your next purchase. Once I showed the cashier that policy they finally took my return and I received my credit. She should’ve just gave me that option to begin with but she just said “ no, nuh- uh it had to be their account or use their card in a harsh tone. She should not be in customer service if she’s going to act that way.
If you want to make something but arent into projects requiring pumbing and timber, this needs to be your first stop. Basically, if what you want to make can fit in your lap, you can do it with the supplies at Michaels. This one has two floors, and about 1/2 of the store is premade decorations and the other is supplies.
I love it here! Theyre always stocked up with things I need.. Not sure if its luck or what but I leave happy. They have knowledgeable associates.. I had a question about spray paint and the lady whom helped me gave me tips and tricks I didnt even expect.. The cashiers are also so welcoming and the experience all around just makes me want to come back and spend all my money
Michaels is ok to a certain degree. I feel like this store doesnt have much inventory because I didnt find nothing I was looking for and maybe they had a good week and customers bought everything on the floor. But they should restock during the holidays because thats when its more busy. Also hiring more staff I needed some help and nobody was available at first it took almost 20min to see an employee that work on the floor. Please make Michaels good again.
I ordered online pickup. I waited by the pickup area for more than 20 minutes and no one came. There was only one employee by the register and I could find no one else to help me. I left and came back around 8:30pm, and waited a half an hour and still left empty-handed. One employee came by and said she would be right with me, but she was working the register. 30 minutes later, still nothing. I cancelled my order. Whats the point of ordering pickup when if I still have to wait nearly an hour and still not get my item?
Pathetic experience. It was like a ghost town. No customers; No employees. When we finally found help, they were anything but helpful. Talk about the great American retail decline. I give these guys 5 years or less and the entire chain will either be done or in bankruptcy.
I just love Michaels.. they have everything... and I mean everything. There isnt anything you couldnt get from here, picture frames, knitting stuff, Easter stuff or whatever the holiday, paint for home and crafts. They have an upstairs with very helpful staff. The only problem is there isnt enough cashiers. Other than that.. I love it.
Its a quality store and has everything thing you need. However its a little disorganized and some what messy. But the staff is friendly and helpful. They have a good framing department but can get busy. Its on Atlantic Ave so its difficult to find side street parking. There are plenty of resturants near by you can eat and drink at.
Theres a lot of great selections and theres always sales for sure. My only problem is the cashiers tend to charge an item and wont give it to you and keep it on their side of the register. Ive had 2 occasions where I was charged for an item but it wasnt in my bag. So something to watch out for and pay attention!
You can find lots of things, personally I think is more name (to be presumptuous) than products (you can actually find), I went looking for something posted as I could find there (in Google) in different sizes, but there was only one, the biggest one, therefore, the most expensive.
This place is awesome. They have everything arts and crafts here. The place is huge, staff was friendly and the place was very clean. Nothing is too pricey and is affordable. If you got the ideas, there’s so many type things you can do and make from scratch with your own creativity.
Overprices 99c store. I cabt believe people shop here. My mom wanted to go for the first time since Rag Shop closed down a fee years ago theres really no more arts and crafts stores left. We went in and everything was not only 99c store cheap quality but overpriced. A 3 pack of small plastic mason jars for $13 when 2 days prior we bought big glass ones at Ikea for $2.99 each. I saw a candle holder also for $13 that i once bought at Ikea for $1. The beads pack you van find on ebay for 50 cents to $1....they have them for about 7 or $8rsr and last time going into a Michaels. Ill just do her shopping on eBay.
I had a large return of items I received from Michaels.com. I was very upset as when I made the online order, I used a gift card and my debit card was charged instead without me authorizing the purchase.I made the return with an older lady around 3:04pm (register 2) who I believe was from the Caribbean. She is new to Michaels. I had an excellent experience with her. She was very patient and kind and took the time to go through every item and confirm the correct receipts as although I made one purchase, Michaels online put the items in separate receipts. The manager who was helping out as well was very nice and had a very positive attitude.I have went to multiple Michaels locations in the city and this was by far the best experience I had.
A large, reasonably-priced craft store with an impressive selection and friendly staff. This store features two floors of every standard craft materials you are likely to need, and you can order online and pick up in store for specialty items. The staff are helpful and the store is well-organized (in contrast to some other craft stores), making shopping here a pleasant experience.
This is my spot for bringing out the amateur artist in me I am so weak when I get to this store. The cashier even told me about joining their rewards program which I did not know they had so am extremely happy about that besides craft they also sell chocolates which for right now is my artistic energy booster. Get creative go to Michaels today.
The supplies are decent but its a pretty small store, so they dont necessarily have a ton of options the way you might expect from a location with more space. The checkout lines are pretty much always long and its a but messy - it looks like a place that really doesnt have enough staff to manage their operations well.
Great selection of arts and craft. I usually come here on a slow day, allows me to shop without the hassle and bustle of other shoppers. However, regardless of the day, they are typically organized. Pretty good service and a large enough space. They are open pretty late for an art store which gives them 5 stars.
The best craft store with the best prices. Im able to create special moments with my daughter and be very creative in how I engage with her. They have everything from yarn, markers, bird boxes, paint brushes, and so much more. In this time where normal living is out the window its great to explore new ways to stay present in your childrens life and continue being creative.
I LOVE Michaels!!Michaels makes me feel artistic despite my grades in Art Class - I love you Andrea Dorwart, Valley High Art Teacher class of 1986!You can always find a deal on whatever protect you have in mind. The staff is great! They are very helpful and have great attitudes!I only wish they were staffed a bit better at the registers, being that its Holiday time and the place was jammed.
I love going Michaels because for me its like being a kid in a candy store. Its a haven of creativity and your imagination can run wild. However, this location like others is understaffed and sometimes finding things, reaching things, or accessing things require assistance. Trying to find someone working the floor is almost impossible and when you do theyre usually bombarded with helping others already. They dont always have what the website says they have in stock so Ive realized that if I really want something its good to call first. Most interactions that Ive had with employees have been really good and theyve been very helpful. However lines to check out can sometimes get really long. Patience is key when coming here to shop.
The mission was to return some products my wife got a few weeks ago at another location and the personnel was very helpful the card originally used was expired and they charged the money back to another card that was valid. The location is convenient and full of your average to mid range craft supplies. I wish they had some better variety on paints.
Store was clean and well stocked, but the layout with 2 stories left me a tad confused. It was a chore to find a product that I was looking for, as it’s location was on floor 2. Finally I asked another customer whom I saw with similar items I was looking for, and they told me to go to the escalators that were a tad hidden. I did find the products I needed, used the restroom, which was very clean and was on my way. All in all, the experience was a thumbs up!
They have everything here. Love coming here for school projects or anything related to DIY. They also have very cute decorations and some of them are seasonal. Cashiers are great but its hard to find employees to ask questions to. But once you do find them, they are very helpful. Definitely recommend bringing small siblings or kids, it can be a fun trip looking through so many different crafting things.
Good store especially for the holidays. Not just arts and crafts there are so many things to gove your home a just right touch. My only complaint is the long lines. Dont get me wrong the cashiers and staff in general are beyond wonderful. The best of any location! They are fast and helpful with great positive attitudes. The lines are long because this is a great location on Atlantic right off Court st. Go before 3 to avoid the crowd
Prices are good, have so many things for crafting, jewelry making. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and this store has elevators. I am disabled and ride a scooter. The aisles are wide enough for me to ride through. There is a clearance and/or clearance area on each floor, theres someone to reach items for me.
Did not know that Michaels was there, pleasant surprise. It is very big inside, two floors, they need to get a better directory. I did not know where to go, its a big store. But other than that it was nice. They have a large selection of crafts and plants and sewing. It is just great, I will be back now I know it is there.
Great people with great service! The staff here are very friendly and will help at any time. Although I do wish there was more here, every once I a while I go here for the Happy Planner and most times they have the same edition from before. They also didnt have the mini happy planner, But Im sure once time passes it will be there. Overall, this is a great place to shop!
They need to hire more staff. There’s rarely anyone on the floor, so it’s really hard to get assistance, and if you do get assistance, the employees are miserable. The lines are always long and slow. And the thing that bothers me most — they take days to fulfill any buy online pick up in store orders. I placed an order that was guaranteed same day pickup if I ordered before 5pm, which I did, and it’s about to be 2 days later and my order still isn’t ready. And when it finally is time to pick up your order, the button at the front of the store that’s meant to alert an employee to assist in the pickup literally does not work.
2 floors of all your crafting needs to be met. Prices are reasonable depending on what youre in need of. Sales are good but NOT great! And lines are ALWAYS LONG.... Much like say.... Marshals at any given time of day. Theyve definitely got the monopoly on crafts and it would be good to see some other competition with cheaper prices come into the market.
They always go all out on the decorations whenever a season or holiday comes up- really nice too look at. Im not the crafty type, but this store seems to have a lot of essential tools for crafters. They also have regular art supplies (sketchbooks, markers, paint, crayons, pens, etc.) But most of these tools are under the brand, Artist Loft, which doesnt always has the best products. It would be nice if they had more art material brands. It would also be nice if all the alcohol-based markers werent locked up.
Its a basic art and supply store. I found the frames that I needed as well as the paints for my kid. It is organized and the staff are friendly. The down escalator wasnt working but it wasnt a big deal for us to just walk down. Parking is tough to find in front of the store, so look for metered parking on Smith Street and just walk. Or take the B61 or B63.
It has a knowledgeable staff not very readily to offer help but is helpful when asked/called upon. The lines arent slow moving, typical wait. Product selection is good, though they may be sold out or very low stock of popular items. They have a large selection of stickers and Wilson/Celebrate It products that seem to be kept fully stocked which is a plus. Never seen this place crowded but have experienced LONG lines, yet again not a long wait time.
Today we came to pick up a few things and got line by the entrance. The line was SO long. Took us 5 minutes to move a few feet. There are not enough cashiers for the number of people here. The store is great, lots of selections and easy access items but checkout is the worst. Also dont plan a trip to Micheals in the holiday season.
They said they’d call when my framing was done (they didn’t). When I finally called them after 2+ weeks, I was put on hold for 20 minutes before someone would check if they were ready (they were). Then, when I went to pick them up later that day, one of my two jobs was done incorrectly! All that for $200+ is not worth it. At least the employee who was there fixed the incorrect job in the moment so I won’t have to go back and deal with this nonsense all over again.
I shop at Michaels with my daughter who has her own business. Last night we went to Michaels to get more soap base. However you could never just buy what you came for at Michaels because you always see other great items you need. However, I saw a modular storage bin for her supplies. I asked for help from a representative. It took him a minute to find the price. But he said it was $69.99 and it was 30% off. He said take a picture so the cashier will know its on sale when they see it.So the cashier had a hard time finding the price. He had to go back upstairs, then when he came back downstairs he said it is not on sale. This is not one of modular storage bin and it isnt on sale. I questions why why is this not a modular storage bin when the sale sign was on the bin and the person who assisted us told us to take a picture of the sale sign for the cashier. So I asked for a manager. As the cashier calls to the manager his statement is I have a customer who wants to see a manager about a item that is not on sale! So the manager comes out. I explain. The manager then says this is not on sale. And this is not the modular item on sale.... I say well then your signs and your representative on the floor does not know that this item is on sale. He shrugs his shoulder and says well will you be taking this item that is not on sale? Mind you my bill without the item is $161.00.. go figure, poor professionalism, poor management skills and poor salesmanship. But I guess items being sold at Michaels is not his business. 2 clowns working at Michaels on Atlantic avenue in downtown Brooklyn. Thanks for nothing. I will order from walmart or target online.Disappointed customer,CC SaintB
I love Michaels you can always find such great things for crafting. Only issue is the staff in this store is kind of all over the place. It’s still a good store and if I’m in the area I’ll pop in but the location isn’t great it’s impossible to park around there and I’d rather pay the $20 toll to Staten Island or sit in the traffic to Gateway the staff is better and there’s a parking lot.
Love Michaels! Most if my visits I could find what I was looking for. If you love creating, designing or just starting, take look and start small here. Some items can be pricey while most are just right. And yes they do have sales often. And think about being an awards member, could help in discounts, email alerts whats coming up next and so on.
Great store, staff is generally king and helpful, good inventory. However, I’m here at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon trying to get frame fixed for the second time (I have a poster I had framed here that has fallen out of center 2 times) and there is not a single staff member anywhere to be found on the second floor. I walk downstairs to ask if anyone is working in framing and I’m told they’re on lunch and will be back in 20 minutes. Lunch with no coverage of a department? Come on.
This location has everything you can expect from a Michaels craft store with the ridiculously long lines of a Trader Joe’s. Don’t expect to come in and out of this store in a few minutes if you’re picking anything up. It doesn’t matter the time.On the plus side they usually have nice clean bathrooms.
Michaels is a very convenient crafting store to have in the neighborhood. We used to have lots of fabric stores in the area but they are all closed. We never had a such an extensive crafting store and art supply store in the area. Its nice to know I can buy some thread or lettering or yarns in the area. Its much more convenient than having to go to the city. Its very well stocked and the lines move pretty quickly.
This review is for Michael stores in general. Order online for pick up? Good luck! This service is hit or miss and highly inconsistent. This is coming from someone who purchases frequently from them in store but thought their in store pick up service will be more convenient for me. Oh boy was I wrong. In the past year, 3 of my orders were canceled after successfully placing the order for in store pick up.When it does work, it takes them forever to process the item. Target had my item ready for pick up within 30 minutes! I placed my order in the morning which according to their Same Day Pick Up, my item will be ready within the same day. False advertisement! My order wasnt ready until the very next day. Dont advertising something if you arent going to honor it. Their customer service is useless. Told me to call the store. I called the store and the staff told me the same day pick up doesnt always work. Again then why you advertise it?I would think twice before shopping from this company again. I will try Target, Walmart, and Amazon for actually trying to please their customers.
Chronically understaffed. I went in knowing exactly what I wanted, and had previously looked up online even which aisle it was in. It took us an hour. We couldnt find the item (it turned out there was only one left, right on the bottom shelf at the back, so you had to get down on your hands and knees to pull it out). There was not a single member of staff on the whole floor, so we had to go down to near the registers to find someone. After several questions, she eventually typed the item number into her machine and told us to look in section K of the aisle in question. We couldnt find anything marked K anywhere. Ultimately, we found another member of staff (I think he worked in the frames dept) who, while very friendly and eager to help, didnt really know anything about the product I was trying to buy, so didnt seem to understand how I was describing it. However, eventually he found the section K and so I found what I was looking for. Then we had to stand in line for ages, because they only had two people working the registers. You also need a member of staff to let you into the bathrooms, so be prepared to wait 5 minutes for someone to show up if you try to use them.I have previously had good experiences at Michaels, so was very disappointed with the level of service on this occasion.
Rather then order my frames off Amazon, I thought I would try to Michaels “buy online, pickup in store” so I could have my frames setup this evening. Online it said they were in stock, which was my reason for making this decision. I ordered my frames around 2pm afternoon and was notified they received my order. When I arrived to the store at 8pm I was told my order was not ready and I would have to come back. When I said the items were identified as in stock, can I have my order put together since I was in store, and it was put in this afternoon. I was told I can go get the frames myself and buy them in store, but that they couldn’t return my online order, I would have to do that separately. SEEMS TO REALLY DEFEAT THE PURPOSE OF “BUY ONLINE, PICKUP IN STORE” WHICH THEY HAVE ADVERTISED ALL OVER THEIR SITE AND STORE. Both the manager and employee insisted this was the case until I repeatedly requested they look at the ipad for my online order so I can go grab the items myself and they can mark it as complete. That is what ended up happening, I spent 30 minutes in store fighting to get my order and had to find and retrieve the items I had already purchased myself. They didn’t even scan the items or check what I was holding, could have been completely wrong item for all they know. The overall vibe from everyone I spoke to was this was protocol and they didn’t care to help me.So Amazon it will be next time.
A busy store with customers. Staff seems thinned out throughout their store. Many customers concerned and commented that the check out time is longer than their shopping time. Yes, the single long waiting line of customers split between two open registers was annoying and not understandable; however, everyone did have what they came there for. (Customer check out offered not apologies despite the fact of two check-out staffers.) The store is well frequented by people who are looking for bargains and deals. Well lit and stocked.
I understand retail and serving customers, working the reg, sorting orders, stock, etc. I don’t, however, understand the unwillingness to be flexible and work with the customers.I ordered two items online within 50 mins of each other (12pm and 12:50). The first item was ready 30 mins after ordering (12:30). I come in to pick up the item and check on the next at 1:50 and just in case it wasn’t, I plucked it off the shelf for them and brought it with me in line, because regardless of whether, or not you order online, you still need to wait in line for the checkout counter. The second item wasn’t ready yet, but I had it in my hand and asked if it were possible to scan the item and mark my second online, but the the associate refused. She went to get my first order and honestly, it probably wasn’t ready because it took about 15-20 minutes to “find.”At that point, she had gone to the online order processing room and could’ve just taken the second item to scan and process. But here I am... waiting for them to fulfill an online order that I already did the work for.I stood by the processing room for about 20 minutes before someone checked on me because lol what was I doing just standing there, but good thing i did because the person completing online orders was about to go home for the day! She was super friendly and helped me revive my order right away! I give her demeanor and service 5 stars. But the whole ordeal was irritating and unnecessary. 🤷🏽♂️😪I’ll stick to the Michael’s in the city. They’re more reliable and flexible
Great Michaels! Great for floral supplies. This is the one to go to for home decor, not the Manhattan one. Also good for party supplies. Would suggest Manhattan one for baking or frames. The lines are always insanely long! Go before noon or expect to spend another hour in line.
A beautiful place to visit. I walked in just to look at the items and walked out with crochet needles and beautiful yarn. I picked up some beautiful silk flowers for my window sill. This from a person that does not have time or talent for crafts. The store is a lunchtime oasis!
Ive been to Michaels at this location a few times.... Today is the first day I noticed that they had an entire upstairs floor available for perusal. 😳 😔 Im a multi-faceted creator so I think their selection of beads is limited but I love their paint supplies and random art projects.
The store has many interesting items that are perfect for arts and crafts activities... I was, though, disappointed that I called to make sure they had white zippers before I made a trip from harlem and when I arrived I was told there were none... Which made no sense but I assume it could have been an overseen mistake. Regardless of that, the place is well kept and the in-house employees were helpful.
Fun place to find crafty things, although the cash register wait lines are long. I came it to pick up an item ordered the day before and was able to retreive that item in just a few minutes. I then shopped for more and found myself waiting in a 10 minute long line. They didnt have staff working the floor when i was shopping so it is impossible to ask questions and things are in disarray. Ive been in several other Michaels stores so know that this Brooklyn one is understaffed and sloppy.
Theyre often out of a few things I need. Still a good place to get something last minute (if they have it). And theres a coupon all the time. Look online or ask the store. It was hard finding someone on the floor to help me quickly but still managed to get out in a timely manner.
Had lots of stock. Not ever fully organized shelves. So its tough to be sure of the pricing. Sone self service bar code scanners would be helpful. Staff is polite, not always knowledgeable. The lines to check out are usually very long. I sometimes walk out just because the time to pay will take too long. Yet, its a great resource for many items that cant be found elsewhere in the neighborhood.
I like Michaels because it has everything you need for a bit of crafting or baking but check out is an absolute nightmare! It doesnt matter if you arrive at 10am, noon, 4pm or at 7, the wait is always longer than it should be. Every other store puts more cashiers on if the line is too long.. not here. Two people overstocking a teddy bear shelf while ten people are waiting for two cashiers to check them out. Not sure what management is thinking.
Very crowded. Had to stand in line 50 minutes to pay. Then there was trouble because the sleeves were too loose on the yarn & fell off. More waiting. Lots of sizes out of stock on the knitting needles. Prices were mostly good, though. Got 1 lb giant yarn skeins buy 2 get 1 free, 3 lbs for $20.
I love craft stores, and i missed being in one constantly in Fl. So I got my guts up to wander into the city. I found it. My Home Away From Home. 2 floors, with seasonal and sewing up on the 2nd floor, i was a kid in a candy shop for 2 solid hours. It not that anything is difficult to locate, its just that I didnt want to leave.
The staff was not very well trained and there are a number of signs up listing sales or discounts on items, until you get to one of the two open registers (after quite a line) and they say they dont know anything about that. Youre faced with having to get off the line , and then having to wait again, to go get the sign to show them. The store is laid out well, the problem is the staff.
Michaels has lots of interesting items for the craftiest of people. I love the frames and the painting sections. Cake decorating products, basic jewellery making tools and accessories, papers. The queues indicate how popular this shop is. My only complaint- they need an information booth so customers can speak to someone.
Disappointing experience. Arrived there on a Saturday afternoon around 3:30-4pm. The store had so many empty shelves on every floor. It looked like it was having an EVERYTHING MUST GO sale. The line was super long and to make matters worse, only two of the eight cash registers were open. My friend and I abandoned our carts and left after waiting for what seemed like an eternity for the line to move one centimeter.
I love Michaels but this particular store is the worse. The wait time for someone to come abe help you is ridiculous. I spent 10 minutes waiting for someone to come and open the cabinets with the spray paint.. and when someone finally came she had an attitude that 😒😒
One of the best places to find arts and crafts for the DIY person. Find frames, interesting items to make your apartment or home unique, and so forth. Also, you can meet some very interesting people there. The conversations you might over hear are different as well. Its almost like what Pearl Paint was in Manhattan on Canal street... almost. Some might like that some might not, but either way its a store you should check out
We were in the store on a Saturday afternoon, looking for something the wife-unit needed for one of her knitting projects. It must have been one Helluva morning, because the staff was definitely looking a little shell shocked. Nobody knew where anything was, but we finally found what she was looking for in a tub under a shelf.Checkout section looked like a bomb had gone off in it.Got whatever she was looking for and headed home as quickly as possible.
Clean, organized arts and craft store with a separate rooms for classes. Inventory is split over two floors and they do have escalators and an elevator. Inventory can be a little limited for those of you used to suburban Michaels, so if youre looking for something very particular, check online first. Lines here tend to be long - over a five minute wait almost every time I shopped here. Make sure you check online for coupons!
Have been this Michaels quite a few times during the last two months. Store is typically maintained and cashiers are always pleasant during checkout. With that being said, always an issue finding employees to assist with anything while shopping and there is a guaranteed long line to checkout due to only 1 or 2 registers being used. Ive spent over 20 minutes waiting on more than one occasion.
Clean, open space for shopping and not tripping over merchandise. A myriad amount of arts and crafts supplies for the novice to expert.I wish that they would offer arts and crafts themed workshops using the various items they sell in their stores. This would be good because the workshops would eventually focus on Every item sold in Michaels.
I went to pick up a purchase I made online. I didnt see a section for pickups like in some stores or an available clerk so I stood on the line for maybe 20 minutes to be told someone else would help with that, no direction as what to do .I found something to purchase whole waiting and thats how I found out where the pick up was. A waste of maybe 30 minutes.
Terrible customer service, long lines and low stock on everything. They are consistently out of stock on certain basic art supplies. Like, I thought this was a big box art supply retailer? The framing service is not good and overpriced. Dont go here unless you actually want to get frustrated ;)
Nice to have a large craft store right in downtown Brooklyn! This was the most affordable spot that I found to get a custom reframing of a canvas art piece done. I was very impressed with the job they did and certainly will come back for future art needs. Minus one star because the store itself is a bit of a mess and could use some restocking/tidying etc.!
If i had to give this place a 0 i would most definitely how does this place charge so much money for Christmas Ornaments and not include hooks on top of that the hooks are downstairs in a different department and the employees are extremely rude they look like they dont want to even work there neva again.... 💯💯

2022-01-18Online order pickup was so easy! Ready well within the window, there was a coupon to use online, and all in all it took less than 10 minutes once I was there. Looking forward to exploring the rest of the store!

2022-06-19Very clean neatly organized store with super firendly staff! We were looking for frames for posters and the staff helped us find exactly what we needed within our budget.. they even told us about the additional discount coupon which could be used. Amazing staff!

2022-06-24I love going to Michaels to get art supplies but since the pandemic both Brooklyn locations have had limited or no stock of a lot of things I use even though it shows its available in store. The staff at the Atlantic Ave location are friendly and helpful. The Gateway location is a mess. No one knows where anything is and they dont want to help either. Both locations havent had their bead section fully stocked for about two years. I have to travel into the city to the 28th street location to find what I need which is a pain.

2022-06-11Tai who works here was so wonderful when she came over and helped my daughter. She checked on us again afterwards and both times were totally unexpected. We did need help though. And she was quick around the bins reorganizing too. My daughter and I wanted to spend extra because she was so amazing.

2022-06-21This place is huge!! I stopped by a few times looking for some supplies and perhaps on the fourth visit I realized there were ESCALATORS!Check out line is usually long here, but probably because theyre understaffed like every other store. Convenient location on Atlantic Avenue, near Boreum Pl.
