Michaels in other cities:
Subpar experience for online pick up. I eventually left and cancelled the order since there was no one available to help me pick up my item. Unreal. It is very difficult to find a staff member on the floor. No one available to talk to if you need anything. Never coming to this Michael’s location again.
Went shopping here.for Christmas...they need carts thats about the only thing worth me not going back because I buy big things...an cant carry it threw the store while looking at other big stuff....an they didnt have carts... I dont like hand held ones they get to much to carry an put down an bed over pick.it up again with a winter coat an mask. on...its a bit to much but other wise its a wonderful experience each an every time
It is very frustrating to order online purchases for pickup and get to the store and the person that should be helping is so over whelemed they dont know what to do. That was my experience at this Michaels; Janet was unable to help because she couldnt multi task. You will have to find your own products and then look for a manager to help you get items that you ordered a head of time. If you need help call the store and ask for assistance or waste your time standing around waiting on a poor mixed up Janet.
Placed an online order for in store pick up at 8:45am, before the store opened. They advertise within 2 hours of order. Got cancelled at 5:00pm. I bet other shoppers bought them, and I shouldnt trust their 2 hour claim. If they cant go to the shelf to fulfill the order within 2 hours, dont advertise that way.
I am a frequent shopper here and the customer service is quite good. The real problem is the checkout line is always so long - this was going on before the pandemic so it isnt specific to that. Its more the system they are using. There were some empty spots on the shelves but most retailers are dealing with supply chain problems right now.
Almost never have anything in stock... you have to search high and low for an available associate on the floor. Last one tried to run away to avoid me...Im not a rude customer at all Ive worked many years in retail so I can relate. Just asking for product location or availability is all I ask AFTER I search myself. You can always get picture frames and art supplies but cross your fingers if you need something...better yet try calling in advance. Check out line is dreadful every time...very long wait even before the pandemic.
A very large and busy Michaels, I would definitely recommend checking Google and seeing when the least busy time is to go and visit this location if you have the option to. I found everything that I was looking for, and of course more, but there was so many people in the store I did wonder how long the line would take to get through. We might have been in line for maybe 10 minutes, before I realize they were literally only two people working the checkout registers. I know I saw at least four or five people in the back near the frames to could have come up and help the two ladies who were working. I felt sort of wild that I only saw these two ladies in the front when I knew there were many other people in the store who could be working the cash register. Besides this one man trying to cut the line so his kid could buy a bunch of Pokemon cards, everything went off without a hitch.
I was with my husband and daughters to pick up my package from this location and when we got there we was supposed to get help from an employee name JANET. JANET took the ticket with the info from my husband said I got you she then started attending to other customers after my family patiently waited for a while my husband started to ask her about the package she then started to disrespect me and acted very unprofessionally in front of my kids. JANET acts like she owns the store and will not get any disciplinary actions. All the money that I spent with this company in different locations I would think they would treat all they customers as VALUED CUSTOMERS and with RESPECT I will no longer shop here if no professional actions are taken from management or corporate.
I am not an Arts and Crafts guy but its Christmas time and I found myself in need of a few gifts that Michaels would carry. So while shopping I discovered what a great store this is. They have good sales and a very large supply of arts and crafts as well as home decor and things for teachers. Even so old school candy (pop rocks)I will shop here again!
I called Sunday morning and spoke to a representative. I asked if they had grab bags coming up and was told yes ! Tomorrow. Monday morning, I drive 45 mins to find out it was YESTERDAY. THE DAY I CALLED. Mind you, I called 10 mins prior to opening on Sunday. Why lie ?UPDATE!! I went to the store the day after. Met with a nice employee who told me her manager lied. They haven’t had a grab bag event in a while. She said her manager is a nasty lady who treats her staff poorly. So sad.
Alot of beautiful variety of everything in the sore at Erskine Gateway Mall and are known for their short staffed cashiers. People are not expected to wait half hour or more on line to pay one or two articles..its horrible. The really need to get organized or People would just stop shopping there and of course store closure. Everyone loves Michaels so get organized- hire more cashiers to get us in and out for more happy returns!
Its not like it used to be, when I went there it wasnt a lot of things to choose from. I ended up leaving without purchasing anything which is unusual for Michaels because that was the go to store for all arts and crafts and so much more. I hope they arent going out of business because normally thats a 5 star store for all arts and crafts......
Hello good afternoon to all I am writing this review because I went to Michaels in gateway Mall to pick up my package and I was disrespected by an employee name (JANET) she was unprofessional and ignored me as I asked her questions regarding my package from UPS she made me wait for her but never helped me I thought Michaels was a great store with professional employees until that employee Janet treated me unprofessionally and no one did anything about it therefore I will never shop there God bless you all and have a wonderful day.
I was looking for a planner and the planner selection was a mess and didnt have a lot of selection to browse through. Ive worked in retail, Century 21 store, and we were beyond organized and we had clothes to deal with. I know retail isnt fun or easy, but during the week I was expecting a cleaner, more organized store. Maybe I just over worked myself too much for my own cleanliness standards.
The store is great but not sure if she is Indian or Guyanese, at the register was rude and Criticized the items I bought. obviously if halloween has passed and decorations are on clearance its because its for sale. Dont tell me Im spending so much money on these things and its sad. very unprofessional and rude.
I love Michaels but the one at Erskine in a mess. The employees are apathetic at best. My cashier was talking on her phone the entire time while she was checking me out. Some of the items I was buying we very fragile and she just tossed them around. When I said oh be careful its rolling she did nothing to stop it from rolling or reassure me that she saw it, she just kept on with her phone call as if I was inconveniencing her.
Ordered packages online to be picked up in store. First time package was not ready, had to wait more than 5mins, was told package had been cancelled but I had my email that item was ready for pickup. Second time same experience. Items not ready have to wait, it makes no sense to me that you are told your packages are ready for pickup and then still have to wait. You try to save on the shipping fee by pickings your packages up at the store but not worth it. Your better off paying for the shipping fees and having the packages sent to your home.
Would love to give 5 stars however the shelves werent well stocked, the yarn department was barren and the staff literally just pointed in the general direction when I asked where something was located. After nearly half hour of wandering the store I found another employee who said he knew where nothing was, he went and found the same person I had previously asked and she pointed andcsaid I told you theyre all over here yet none of what I needed was properly labeled, I was given the wrong material and my daughters costume was ultimately ruined as a result. Staff seems to have very little product knowledge
Truly where creativity lives. Just an incredible store overall that youll never want to leave. Quality products but be ready to spend a pretty penny on most items. This location has a restroom, its wheelchair accessible. Service however is lacking. Not too many people on the floor and a few enthusiastic about helping someone out. Theres parking on the other hand and they work quickly at the register. Art classes are offered and this location has a large variety of products. I am in love!
Been shopping here since this location opened. Usually the staff is friendly, long lines, no one to really help on the floor, selection hasn’t been as large since the store reopened after COVID but it’s alright for picking up a few items. Yesterday I purchase a good amount of supplies, I asked the cashier if I could apply a 20% coupon as well as my teacher ID for 15% off of item. He tells me “we are not doing that no more you have to apply it online.”Ok, yesterday was Wednesday, on Saturday I was able to apply my 15% at a different location. So something is not adding up... do Michaels give 15% off teachers or not?Corporate please make sure your staff is up to date on information & relaying that information in a professional manner to customers especially after they waiting 30 minutes on a line.
The store itself is very nice within the larger shopping center. You can get many varieties of crafts here. The staff is very helpful about asking if you need any assistance finding anything. They have wonderful sales and there are always coupons available. The only negative is their clearance area is a real mess and I dont think anyone bothers to clean it up.
This was my first time going to this one at gateway, and its a big store, but everything seems all over the place in there. Plus the line is always long(I guess because theres not too many crafts stores in Brooklyn), they seriously need MORE than 2 cashiers in there and I was in there before noon. Other than that, if youre into painting, the canvases are plentiful.
I dont know. I called ahead to ask what brands of fabric paint they carry and I was placed on hold for 15 minutes, while the clerk went out back to make it, or something. 15 minutes is a long time to be on hold. I will still go in and see, figures crossed. Ill report back.
I actually like this store. The experience can vary. You can either get what you need or leave there disappointed. This location was calm and people were kind to check in. I wish they would more selections on Mason jars though. I found myself visiting the competition like Target to get what I needed. I honestly wish they would also provide a better reward system. I shop there often and it would be great to accumulate points on top the plentiful coupons that are available.
Poor Customer service! I was asked by an employee to help me move two boxes for her from one place to another. I don’t mind helping, but I am a customer instead of asking if I need help to find something , she asked me to help her out. She could have simply ask one of her co-worker to help her out.
I love the store, it has everything I need and more for all of my various crafting needs, with lots of coupons. The only problem is, they need more staff. There are always long lines with only a couple of very pleasant cashiers at a time, and you can hardly ever find someone around the store to answer questions. In fact, Ive helped out a number of people, myself, as well as being helped by other customers. But, they are well-stocked and the few staff-members on hand are wonderful, and very polite, and, if you dont have a coupon, they will likely share one that they have with you.
The items in the store itself are a creatives/ D.I.Yers dream. This store in particular could use a bit of work. Finding a price for some items was a bit of a task. Some of the items I purchased were hanging in a hook without a sign that was on a high shelf. Therefore, had to find a price checker. Other than this, the store is basically kept together and the employees were pleasant and helpful (spoke to 4 during my shopping trip). I will definitely go back.
There was a good variety of things for sale and they seem to go with the season which is nice. Be sure to confirm from more than one employee if you decide to ask if they have what youre looking for as they seem to have some new workers who arent too sure about what they have in stock.
This place could get 5 stars.... however... the lines are ALWAYS going down the entire length of the store.... 15-20 minutes of shopping and browsing lands you on a line that takes 45 minutes to reach a cashier... #majorbuzzkill... on a high note... they have great sales for end of season merchandise.
I love Michaels, but they need better stocking. Every time i go in i have to go the drawers in the floor to see if what i am looking for is there. Because it clearly says online that they have it in stock, and when you go all the stock is in the bottom and not in its place.
This location sucks!!!!! Every time I come to this store there is always a problem. As I arrived to the store as they were opening I noticed there were no jewelry items stocked on the shelves. They are always lying about their prices. Right now there is supposed to be a Semi Annual Sale on jewelry where a lot of the items are supposed to be $1. I racked up and as the cashier is the ringing the items a lot of stuff that’s supposed to be $1 is ringing up as regular price. The cashier nor the manager was willing to honor the sale. As I got back in my car and reviewed the receipt I noticed that I was charged an additional $21 for $7 items that supposed to be $1. This is will be my last time at this location😡😡😡
Alot of the aisles were a mess or out of stock and then I bought some heavy pieces and the girl told me I had to pay for a paper bag or I would have to carry out without a bag. I never heard of that in my life. Carry all your items out to your car without a bag. Horrible policy.
Although understaffed which wasted my time, they were helpful and kind. Very professional otherwise. Manager/shift supervisor was also ensuring staff was not under too much stress and assisted at the register and with customers in order for the staff to take their break. Awesome team work
Horrible experience, horrible customer service. Staples and Target are on the other side of the mall, I would not even bother coming to this location again. Unaccommodating and very inconsiderate staff. If you plan on going to this location, you’re on your own. There is one cashier working at a time, no help on the floor finding anything in this poorly maintained store. After waiting over thirty minutes to pay, you’ll get an unprofessional cashier, with a very bad attitude to check you out, who also catches an attitude after you ask a simple question about a product. Im Totally in disbelief and disappointed that Michaels crafts would allow this type of behavior in their business. I’ve been in customer service for nearly 10 years and never had such an unpleasant shopping experience before. I would never treat a customer in the manner other customers and myself were treated here.
Love the convenience of going to one store for all my crafty needs but am always frustrated and disappointed by lack of basic items such as DMC floss. They are always out of 20% of colors. Prices are ok, and make sure to always use a coupon (they accept competitors coupons too!)
Most of the times I have been there they have a long line sometimes with 16 people with only 2 cashiers. You have to complain and then another cashier comes. The cashiers are always polite and courteous. When you ask to see the manager to complain the cashiers call on the phone but she does not come. The manager needs to be more active and customer oriented.
Michaels is a crafter dream place in Brooklyn by default because theres not any other choice available close by. I like to go when therere sales. The place is well organized and the prices are reasonable. You just might not find a variety of items for a certain hobby.
I been to this store a few times and every time I was able to find things, but my last encounter has been thee worst!! My online order was shipped to this store (which was there for 4 days and I didnt get any notifications) and a supervisor name Dawn signed for it. I went to get my package yesterday and guesss what? Dawn let me know that she couldnt find my package!! She was very dismissive and at that point is when I got upset. I will never ever have anything shipped to that store AGAIN!!
A large, relatively new store. But....eight registers and only two open while the line snakes like Disneyland and all the customers become impatient and annoyed? Not good. Combine that with a nonexistent sales staff, disorganized aisles and mystery pricing. This place could be much better.
This store is constantly having so-called sales on merchandise that THEY want to get rid of and NOT what the customer wants to buy. NOT good! Im a beader and I find that they do not change the kinds of beads that they sell. This does NOT work well for those of us who like variety. I find their craft items are over priced and some of their jewelry making items are rather cheaply made, such as the earring hooks and earring backings. I have found much lower prices on craft items in the dollar stores and on line. If you must shop at Michaels , wait for their sales and use their coupons. The price you pay when using the coupon is actually the REAL price for the item in the first place. These businesses have a lot of tricks, just to get the consumer to buy from them. If they sold things at a decent price and products of good quality, they would not have to resort to using tricks. I will be shopping on line for better quality craft products, with more reasonable prices than Michaels. However, you can visit the them for yourselves and see what you think.
This store is a great example why people shop online. Carts cost 25cents not sure why. Selection of pretty much everything is very poor. I picked a pack of 5 canvases and finding price for it was impossible, there were no stickers anywhere around where it was located in store. Shelves are empty and disorganized, along with that come price tags on shelves with tini-tiny writing which are impossible to read. There was one cashier at register and it took more than 5 minutes of wait time to get to register over 1 person in front of me. No automatic discount for item buy one get one 50% off was applied and I had to remind cashier to add it, overwise I would have paid more for my final bill.
Went to buy a decorative Halloween box here item had no price or bar code, silly me thought if I ask one if th ed workers there they would help me instead I got a nasty young lady stating to me if there is no bar code on the item they cant sell it so I ask her why do you have it out on display for purchase.
I love michaels stores but this one was out of stock of every item on my list and the aisles were a bit messy, items not in their place, which confused me a bit when i was trying to figure out pricing. I was disappointed. We had questions for the staff, but unfortunately they were not much help admitting they did not know about the product(s) we were were asking about. My comment to Michaels - if your staff does not know your product, there is no reason for a person to make the drive out to your store, when we can buy the item online and probably get answers from youtube. There is another location of Michaels that i used to go to (longer drive out) and the staff were able to help us customers out when we asked questions about products.
This Michaels is much more organized than the Gateway location. The store is divided into two levels with escalator service between floors. Items are displayed where theyre supposed to be. Items are in good condition as well. Only small shortcoming is that they seem to be under staffed. Maybe the time that I was there was a rainy night, an hour before closing time.
When I shop at this location there are never any sales associates on the floor. The stores a mess and the so called Managers are work ing the registers and when asked for assistance answers I have no idea if there is anyone on the floor. I am working the register. You are a cashier with a glorified management title. What manager has NO CLUE what is going on. Ridiculous!!!!!Everything is also overpriced.
Pretty decent Michaels if you ask me. One thing is thing is that it is hard to find an employee when you need some assistance. They need more floor associates that would be helpful but nonetheless they have everything you need and more. Also they price match with their website and have ship to store
As a teacher and small business owner I spend a ton of money in Michaels. I prefer the Atlantic Mall location to this location at the Gateway center even though the Gateway center has more options. Our cashier didnt want to be bothered to call the manager when I inquired about a price per a sale that was posted near the flowers. One of my flowers didnt ring up with the sale even though three others did. Our cashier literally said this will be the third time I have called a manager today only for her to repeat what I said. Please note she did not know why it didnt ring up on sale and did not relate any information to me. Turns out one flower was considered a bush while the others were stems. Her whole interaction was off putting and ruined a normally pleasant experience. Ranking three because of poor customer experience with this lady on the floor when asking for help with an item and then at the register.
I usually dont write bad reviews, but this place deserves it. I went in looking for a frame and a hinge, asked 6 employees: THEY EITHER DIDNT KNOW OR WERE ON BREAK. At 9:30AM? Really? It seemed as if everyone who worked there wanted to get paid for being there, but not for doing any real work. 6 EMPLOYEES! I never had that happen before. I felt lost and stupid asking employees for help and NONE OF THEM WOULD HELP ME! They looked at me like I was crazy asking them for help! Needless to say, I laughed and just walked out. Sad, I like Michaels... But I dont think I will ever walk in there again.
Cashier Khamilah at Gateway Shopping Center in Brooklyn is extremely rude. Too busy gossiping with coworker instead of paying attention to the needs of customers. Combative, disrespectful and unethical while I was paying for my purchases on 2/18/20. Did not ask if I was a rewards member, nor she asked for my email so I can keep abreast of sales and promotions. I asked for the store manager and was told she was not on the floor. Michaels have lost a longtime customer. Corporate should make use of mystery shoppers and invest in staff development if they dont want to keep losing revenue.
Nice selection of various crafting supplies as well as home decorating supplies and craft projects for rotating holidays. Large isles, easy to maneuver. In a large mall with plenty of parking. My new home for craft supplies in Brooklyn. Not sure how easy it is to get to with public transportation. Its probably why its never growded when Ive gone.
Duuude. I love this store. But theres never any help. Like u gotta navigate the place yourself. The only way to get help finding something is if u chance on finding staff putting something away but they barely look up at you and give you a mumble answer. They can use better and increased staff along with better isle directions to find things.
GIDEON, Store Manager Needs Training on Public Communication Skills! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE- DISRESPECTFUL and INCOMPETENT STAFF.Christmas Eve Sunday, I contacted the store directly to inquire about there hours. The representative informed me that the store would be closing at 7pm this evening. I arrived at the store 6:10 pm and two employees were at the door letting customers out; one which i later learned was Gideon the store manager. As I tried open my mouth to verify the hours, he pointed to the hours of operation sticker on the door and walked away. The other staff opened the door for another customer and i was able to a few words in explaining that aid called the store and was informed that the store closes at 7pm today and i just wanted to make a return. He apologized but reiterated that the store was closed. I requested to speak with a store manager and thats when i learned the other staff member who dismissed me was the store manager, Gideon. He returned to the door and refused to listen to what I had to say. I addressed his dismissive behavior and he reported that he is doing several things. He then responded in a passive- aggressive tone by dismissing me once again by stating Thank You!Thank you for what! This store is always disorganized, staff is never available to assist when needed but once closing hours are approaching, they scatter the floor like roaches fighting for a crumb. I usually travel to Long Island or Queens location where i know that good customer service is not compromised. However, I made a quick dash today for a return.Staff should be privy to the hours that their business is open and not provide false information to customers. The only reason i gave this store on star is because this is the requirement to complete a review. It would have taken less than 5 minutes to complete a return transaction. If i was not falsely mislead by staff about the hours of operation, I would not be writing this review. So disappointed.
The yarn is unkempt and the selection is not reflective of the online site the savings and coupons never really save you anything even as a member the associates barely help you yarn over priced. I talked to a manager about it the response..sorry. I thought a customer thats spends up to 200.00 a purchase theyd try to retain but Im definitely not shopping out of convenience anymore 15min.isnt worth the insult. When I taught crochet for a non profit they were just as help with bulk orders. New year order of business find a better yarn option Sav-a-thon will do better.
Horrible!!! Placed an order online for canvasses and stands and when I went to pick it up was told to go to the back and someone will be there shortly. Stood there for half an hour and rang the bell they had placed on counter that said if you need assistance ring and an associate will come. No one came, meanwhile all associates walking around and not one person asked can I help you.. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! Then when I said this store is horrible I cant wait to give my review, some one happen to come and ask what we need, we said we placed order online and we got the email that said available for pickup she said ok let me check.. oh we dont have it.. I said excuse me, she said we dont have it so I said so how come it said yall did have it and it was in stock and it said pick up at gateway mall. So she said do you want to substitute so we walking around and she said oh you can only get the samething?? How?? You said yall dont have it so just refund the money. Like I said horrible customer service, employees just walk around hiding in corners so you wont have to ask them anything..sad store!!!!!
This place is heaven for crafters! I do a variety of crafts, and I can find supplies for all of them. There are always sales, and coupons available. The staff will always find a way to get you the lowest price. I like the Manhattan store the best; it has 2 floors, but the Gateway store is great too.
I found everything I wanted but my friend was upset that she couldnt find her fondant. More importantly there was no staff readily available and when we finally found someone to ask about it, they had the nerve to give us the generic, we dont have anymore in stock, its whatever is out, which is absolute and complete bs if you ask me. The guy ar the register was very kind and patient. So three stars for him.

2022-04-06I really wanted to give Michaels five stars zero but couple times i needed stuff they didnt have it. I was also told by one of the stores they no longer carry balsa wood. If you are a craftstore you should always carry that. The store is still a good place to get art supplies. I dont think it is a great store Architectural art supplies, but very good for general art supplies.

2022-05-11THE WORST customer service you will ever receive in the history of retail. The store is never really that busy but no one EVER assists you on the phone. It took Manager Keisha 40 minutes to even inquire about my problem after she was personally requested. As a business owner they are EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE and I will NEVER shop at this location again. It’s not worth the hassle and they usually never have what I’m looking for anyway. They need lower than a 1 star. Cashier Kamela should be fired IMMEDIATELY, she can not be responsible for call volume and a register.

2022-06-01Nice store, not sure if its a lack of workers, but there was really no one to help you and the 1 or 2 workers on the floor seemed busy with things other then the customers.

2022-01-20NO SHOPPING CARTS! yup you read that correctly. If you find one, its like finding a unicorn. I was there 2 times within a 5 day period to do online returns and shop. Both times I had to wait a long time for them to figure out how to manipulate the register to give me my correct money total. Every time she scanned the receipt it kept beeping or ringing up the wrong amount of each item. Then she tells me I used a voucher to purchase my items. Uh no! I paid full with my credit card. Thank God I have a Michaels reward account. Was able to pull up the order history and prove to them I didnt use any kind of vouchers or discount. Then they tried to give me store credit. No thank you. Please return my money. Yup, when you cant solve the problem, blame the customer. So disappointing. After I made it clear I want a full refund and I was DEFINITELY NOT SATISFIED WITH THE EXPERIENCE, they finally found a way to do it. Can you believe it happened both times. I normally love shopping at Michaels but if this is what I have to go through every return process, I will be very careful when shopping I the future.

2022-02-28I have been going to this store for years… but out of all that time I had never received such excellent service as yesterday in the framing department from Alejandro. He was friendly and professional and made everything so effortless… Thank you Alajendro for going up and beyond in your guest service ❣️

2021-08-31Michaels has an abundant supply of arts and crafts material that can be used at home and at school. Michaels also features and sells arts & crafts that tie into current holiday themes. Many colors and textures of yarn are sold at Michaels.
