Stay away from this vendor, ordered a $400 fish that arrived dead, vendor replaced it with another that arrived dead. Fish are not healthy if this is the case before shipping. Had to dispute my CC in order to get a refund. Owner does not honor the arrive alive policy for refunds.
Wanted to give a shoutout to Michael @NYAquatic . I have been looking for an Achilles tang and he had some available during his black friday sale. So I placed an order for the Achilles tang, DESJARDIN SAILFIN TANG, Foxface, and Copperband. I wanted to wait until there was a good shipping window and I was busy with work/holiday events so agreed to ship on 3rd week of Dec(Thanks for holding them for 3 weeks!) I got them Dec 15th, shipped with plenty of water, everything arrived safe/healthy and the Achilles was even bigger than expected, appreciate that! Everybody has been healthy, eating, and doing great. I would highly recommend NY Aquatic!
Just not a good experience. Wouldnt refer to anyone STAY AWAY. Fish came in with hole in the head and ich. Nothing survived and was properly quarantine in a copper treated system in my own home. Shipping took over a month even though expedited shipping was paid it was not refunded. After two months of waiting I still did not get all the fish that were placed on my order. I didnt reach back out to seller after the fish died due to lack of communication from original point of sale.
Met Billy. So far awesome business and awesome person. Owner is busy atm and couldnt answer email etc asap which I understand. Due to Corona etc some of us got busy with family. Billy took care of me. Mike hooked me up with Billy so he did take care of me. Lets see how this relationship goes.
What a disappointment!!Placed couple fish orders in past but recently went down hill!Speaking of my last 3 orders I paid for shipping and received email that I could save money by picking it up and agreed to but soon after release it was a mistake. After chasing for a week finally got fish. No refund of shipping fee! At this point just want my fish. Second time came back home with one wrong fish and was told that it was sold to him under different name. Wasn’t true! He is expert on fish so that was a lying excuse. Last shipment was 3 fish out of 4 and marked last one is out of stock without making big deal simply asked if I get refund or notification when back in stock. His email response was refund. Been 3 weeks already emailed him 3 times and No response!!Contacting bank right now!!
Ive been ordering from NYAquatic for a few months now. The fish and inverts always come quickly and in great condition. Detailed instructions come with the fish and are very helpful to acclimate them. Michael is always very responsive and is great at recommending fish that will work well with my tank and current fish. Will definitely be ordering more fish from there in the future!
I called in and spoke with Michael about possible stock for my newly acquired 75 gallon setup. We settled on a Melanarus Wrasse. He assured me that this was not one of the drab ones that you see sometimes in your LFS. I took his word and went ahead and ordered it. WOW! Arrived very quickly, with great instructions on his method of acclimation and THE MOST vivid colored Melanarus Ive ever seen. On top of that, the price was amazing. Im very pleased and will absolutely order more livestock soon. Thanks!
Purchased a Purple Tang on July 14. My fish arrived well packaged, looked good and appeared to be in good health except for a few dorsal fin nicks I assume was the result of being in a tank with several other tangs. Was eating NLS pellets minutes after introducing it to the tank and as of today (7/29) looks better than when I received. Great purchase at a great price. Look forward to purchasing from them again. Definitely recommended.Thanks for the great fish Mike. Been wanting this one for a while. How about a Chevron Tang now...🙏🏽
I just ordered two hard-to-find Red Sea species -- a gem tang and a regal angel. Both came healthy and with great coloration. This is the second time I ordered from NYAquatics, the first order was a purple tang & red sea regal 7 years ago and both those fish are amazing. Great service, Michael was helpful and solid.
I ordered 2 shrimp and one fish from Michael. Both shrimp were alive and well and are a wonderful addition to my aquarium. Unfortunately, the six line wrasse arrived DOA. Michael was quick to respond to my e-mail despite dealing with power outages on his end. Excellent shipping and beautiful animals. Will definitely keeping NYAquatic in mind for future items I cant find locally.
Michael is great. We had ordered some fish the first time and 1 of them died and he didnt hesistate to credit us and stood by his live guarantee. Then the second time around we orderd a juvenile angel at a great price and he shipped us a great healthy larger specimen... the same size that my LFS would sell for 3 times the cost. Beautiful looking fish and very healthy. I would definitely order again from NYAquatic.
Worst customer service! Had placed my vary first order and got one sick fish with ick and I called them as soon as it arrived all Michale said was that it was odd and the fish died in 3 days. I did what he ask by taken a picture of the fish and tank where I had the fish in quarentine and never got my store credit for another one, now he wont answer the phone nor returns my calls. worse customer service ever! if I didnt live so far I would had deff gone in person to see whats the problem. will never buy from them again! my video review will be posting soon on YouTube ill leave the link as soon as i can
NY Aquatics is legit!!! I ordered a purple tang and a yellow tang, both of which arrived in perfect health and at a decent price. They don’t offer free shipping but I’ll gladly pay it to receive healthy fish that started eating flake and spirulina mysis the very next morning. Thank you Michael!!
So I’ve been searching for local saltwater fish store with actual great care of fish I found this shop place was a bit tricky to find but when I did I will definitely say I’m beyond please mike the shop owner was very cool and respectful the shop had a great variety of things from fish to inverts all different sizes and prices definitely fair did not rip me off in any way I’m beyond glad and will definitely continue to do business with mike again very cool dude and a real cool puppy named Cody must say hello to Cody but over all mike I’m glad I found the shop and will definitely continue to do business with you in the future ......
I have been buying saltwater fish from NY aquatics for a few years now and 99% of the time everything is healthy and the sizes of the fish are better than expected with the best prices in the business and a few times there has been issues they have addressed immediately... would strongly recommend NY aquatics for all your marine fish purchases
I visited this facility, located in a housing community pool center, in order to earn a CPR/First-Aid/AED certification. In my experience there is never much organization with these things but not in this case. The staff was professional, energetic, and very informative. You could tell these young men and women enjoy their jobs.
So ordered a couple fish from Mike NyAquatics I received one will be getting the other 2 in a week(my decision) but for a nice 5-6inch Imperator Angelfish acclimated him nicely and what i like about Mike he sends you instructions on how to properly acclimate them some stuff i never knew before but within 2 hours I was expecting him to be hiding and not eating but he was out romaing around and when I went to feed my other fish he went right for the food immediately and later in the night when i went to go feed the tank again he actually was eating out my hand i was shocked but will higly recommend Mike so far great quality fish thanks

2022-02-01Both of my experiences so far with NYAquatics have been great. They triple bag each fish to make sure no water is accidentally lost during shipping, also I feel like it keeps them warmer during shipping. My first order was a halocarus wrasse, purple tang, tomini fire fin tang and a white tailed bristle tooth tang. All the fish shipped well but the next day my wrasse passed away. I sent them an email and Michael quickly reached back out to me to give me a refund. The order I just received contained a coral beauty angel and it was also packaged very good, it included extra heat packs to keep the fish warm since it is very cold outside. The prices are very reasonable too, and you have to check frequently for new fish because there stock varies. They have a good qaurentine procedure but Im paranoid so I also do my own qaurentine as well. All the fish are doing great!

2022-04-02I do not understand the negative reviews. I ordered a single fish on Tuesday night and received it Thursday morning. The fish shipped from New York to Florida (two different climates) perfectly. There were no signs of disease or parasites. They have the rarest fish for ridiculously low prices. This along with the bad reviews made me skeptical but Ny Aquatic pulled through and did an amazing job. I would highly recommend them and I’m probably going to be going to them for all my fish needs from now on.

2022-01-31Worst customer service I have ever received. I’ve placed 2 orders with NYAquatic and had major issues with both. First order, I spent $400 for a gigantea anemone and was sent a haddoni. Didn’t offer anything except to make it right when he had a gigantea available. Found a gigantea on the website (never contacted me to see if he could “make it right”). Paid another $400. The anemone was poorly packaged for a winter shipment from NY to WI. Shipment was delayed and the anemone arrived in ice cold water. That means they probably only had 12 hour heat packs in the thinnest styrofoam cooler I’ve ever seen for a shipment in sub freezing temperatures. Anemone was expelling it’s guts and melting. I Contacted him immediately. Called, emailed, used the “contact us” form on the website, fb messaged, sent messages on R2R. Finally, after NINE DAYS I finally get an email that the item was arrive alive guarantee only and he’d work with me on the next one. Yeah, I know how that goes. He claims he’s going to issue a refund. I hope that’s true. I’ve included pics of the ‘alive’ animal so sadly lost in this transaction.

2022-01-18This business is a scam. My order is 18199 and I have placed my order for more than 2 weeks. I called the owner and he said he is going to ship the order out on Thursday, December 13th. But he never did and he doesn’t even care to provide his customer about their order status.I have tried to contact his business and leave a voice message several and still he doesn’t call back. This is not a right way to do business if you can’t take care of your customer I don’t think you can take care of your animals. Going to dispute the transaction because I’m done with this guy.

2022-04-10The owner does not answer the phone, email or text and strings you along until past the warranty and acts like he was not notified. Large fish was shipped in 2-3 cups or water (assuming to make shipping cheaper even though I paid roughly 80.00 for shipping) and the bags leaked during shipping. One of the fish was barley alive, but I was able to get them acclimated to a qt tank. The male died a couple days later and the female never ate and later died. I notified the owner by text, tried to call him and emailed on their site of the issues. He finally responded back, but always had an excuse. He was in the hospital, he dont check his text and I really don’t remember them all. Not he is acting like we never talked and it was out of warrenty. Sellers like this makes it difficult to trust these smaller companies. Below the owner responds and said he offered a partial credit, not true. Be aware, not worth the hassle when there are good sellers out there. Take care

2022-06-13I ordered a Purple Tang on 5/31/2022. Received on time. Imagine only $99.95 + $49.60 shipping total $149.55. It was over 4 inches. What a bargain. And, the color is out of this world.

2022-02-03Update on 2-1-2022I have friends who have purchased from Michaels and they brag about the quality and price of their fish. Looking at the website the price and inventory is top of the line compared to other on line sites. Hoping my first encounter was a blip which most likely it was. me start off by saying in all the years of having saltwater fish I have never made a purchase online. I was recommended Michaels by a close friend who had made 3 purchases and was very happy with his transactions. I believe if the attention to detail and communication was better this would be a number 1 online destination. During this pandemic everyone has experienced personal and business sufferings. Best LuckThat being said let me tell you about my encounter. I ordered a semilavartus butterfly fish on 1-16-2021.I was told the fish was in quarantine and would ship the following week. I inquired on 1-28 and was told it was too cold to ship and he would ship the following week which is now 2-1. There was a snowstorm that week, I contacted again on 2-15 and was informed that the rest of the week looked good for shipping, I was informed that the fish would be shipped on 2-16.On 2-17 there was no word about shipping. I e mailed on 2-17 and the response came back later in the day. I was informed that Fedex in Memphis were shut down and it would have to ship the following week. I sent a email on 2-23 after checking the weather in New York and Memphis which all looked clear and good. I never received a response back after also leaving a voicemail.On 3-2 I sent a forwarded copy of a fedex service alert. I received a response back saying I am monitoring. I waited another week with no other communication and finally decided to cancel the order I received a refund the next day with no other explanation.Customer service is important to most of us. I understand the shipping problems due to weather. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND not being updated about the shipment. I wasted over 6 weeks on this transaction. I wondered if the fish was sold after my order? As of this writing the fish has not been relisted on the site. How interesting!. I would never deal with someone like this again. I would rather pay a little more with someone who knows how to communicate and is responsive.Oh by the way in the middle of all this I did speak with Michael and told him he needed to communicate better.
