Michaels in other cities:
I went to Michaels to get some art support my daughter school project. She founded everything she needed to make her project as outstanding as possible. They had a great selection of art supplies or anything the mind is curious about. The customer service was amazing and my daughter was extremely happy with the outcome of her project.
Michaels has great selection of craft supplies and DIY materials. while the selection is great is sometimes can be difficult to find what you need inside the store because there is so much available. Prices are good but can probably be beat by online retailers like Amazon.
Ive been living in Staten Island for 3 months now. As you may know, Staten island natives dont have the best reputation for being nice (once got into an argument with one about how to eat pizza). Well my opinion changed when I went to michaels to have my wedding photos framed. Magda was courteous and attentive. She picked the best color to contrast my photos. She was so nice and personable and really made the experience smooth and easy. Will definitely be back to frame more photos and will definitely be requesting Magda!!! GIVE THIS GIRL A RAISE
Great selection but the cashiers were very rushed even though it wasn’t very busy. Made fun of me for trying to get a price match for $0.50 off a tombow brush pen. Would have charged me double for a watercolor sketchbook if I did not catch her mistake. Forgot to give me the 40% discount even though she said she would.
When my sister and I approached checkout we noticed that a woman was having a hard time with the cashiers, and she was very persistent about how she always gets tax exempt and has always got it every time she shopped at Michaels and she was very persistent about talking to the managers managers bosses boss she was very angry. When my sister and I got to the register they apologized for what we witnessed and we responded with, sorry you had to go through that. As shes checking out our items we noticed that the prices werent matching up with the prices that the employees on the floor gave us. A Sketchbook was on sale for 11.97 and it was in front of the sales tag and it said red SketchBook on the tags for 11. 97 original price was like 39.97 but that specific Redbook was on sale. When we got to the front they also scans two pads that were on sale buy one get two free and we asked the sales lady on the floor if the stickers qualify for the buy one get two free and she informed us that it did. When we got to check out everything was the complete opposite she didnt ring the Sketchbook up for 1187 she didnt give us the deal for the buy one get two free because the stickers were an applicable after a woman on the floor had let us know that it was because it had the same sale sticker on it. So when they actually rang up the SketchBook they said thats a different red SketchBook the Sketchbook is 39.97 but when we found the Sketchbook it was in front of a red the Sketchbook sign for sale for 11.97. After all the confusion my sister and I decide to just leave everything. Also felt that more than likely that women that they previously had an issue with was probably in the right! For some reason they were just over the top of everything. Almost like penny-pinching not trying to give us what we were supposed to pay for. It was an awful experience overall.
This is a fun place to go no matter what your hobby is. They also have great holiday decos, etc, no matter what the holiday. The staff is always available to help and give a kind hand or suggestion. Ive gone here many times when down and I always walk out happier. My friends & family have said the same. Try it!
For those who just discovered their desire to express their feeling, views and opinions through the form of art. Everything you need for your craft is in one place. Large variety, always somebody around to help you. You cant beat the price ( if you think amazon is cheaper you WRONG). Never overcrowded. Parking on a front.
A great variety of arts and crafting materials are always offered. If youre in need of ideas, just walk in, youre certain to find inspiration from something, by how everything throughout the store is laid out. This was my goto store for crafts, during those grade/middle school art classes & projects, and there still are plenty of supplies for sale for those types of situations. Prices vary based on what you buy, so Id recommend to only buy based on what youll need.
If arts and crafts is your passion then Michaels is the place you need to get your supplies,You will be like a kid in a candy store as there isnt much the store wont have,If your knitting they offer the biggest supply of yarns that other stores wont have,From paints to markers and everything else you need to be creative,The stores are always well stocked, neat and clean and well organized,The store normally has great discounts and sale items that are generally 50% off and more,Be sure to go to Michaels for all your creative needs....
Great store..... but they basically have Art supplies andSeasonal things. Sometimes selection is disappointing..It USED to be MUCH better in what it offered. Qualitywent down. Prices are usually good and Hugh discounts!Friendly stafff. People on the floor are spotty, sometimesnice and sometimes not nice.
Good craft store, but no one is there to help you. Staff can be rude at times. Dont expect to download coupons while in the store; cellphones are blocked from aquiring the internet. So either bring a paper coupon, or screen shot the electronic coupon before you leave home. Be aware that the percentage deducted will be from the least expensive item.
I paid so much money for a custom frame, the manager Pam took my order and when I came to pick it up it was nothing that I wanted, The Finish was horrible, screw drivers all around the Frame made it look so cheap and horrible. When i wanted to speak to her again to see what we can do to fix it: she was Very Nasty, Rude and didn’t even stay to hear what I had to say just stormed to the back. NEVER AGAIN!
The store has a lot of craft supplies at reasonable prices, but there is a limited name of brands. The management also needs a change up. It doesnt matter what time of day, or what day of the week, youll never find anyone on the floor to ask for help, and there is always a long line for the one (if youre lucky) 2 registers that are open.
Michaels always has what you need for a project or event. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star was because it is difficult to sometimes find what you are looking for in the store. It can be overwhelming to the eye. But I get it, its a crafting store and there are many little odds and ends to be found. The staff is accommodating in helping you to find what you need when you are able to grab a hold of a member.
I like the fact that I can get so many creative ideas from visiting a general crafts store like Michaels. A salient drawback for me is that, being a chain store, there is little in the way of product variety for less mainstream hobbies or niche tasks. For instance, I wont be able to easily find things like bannetons for bread baking or pure wool yarn for knitting or crocheting, or fountain pens or letter wax and seals. At times it looks like any old home décor retailer. However, with that in mind, I still recommend paying Michaels a visit, as it likely carries just the craft supplies you need, or else one is bound to conceive of a really engaging pastime just by browsing through. I also think this is definitely the right place to go for most school-related projects. Oh, and do take your kids along, theyll get ideas of their own!
I am a part-time party planner I have purchase over $500 dollars in merchandise this month alone. My family knows that I love this store because its very convenient for me right now since I dont live that far from it and I need stuff for my events. So I went into the store and usually I get great service from everyone however this particular cashier that assist me was horrible. She gave me the worst customer service ever. And the worst part is that I wanted to pay separate since my husband was with me and he got stuff for him as well. She said that she could only change me twice and than I have to go back in line with an attitide. Than she calls the manager and agreed without even ask me what I wanted. My family has giving me a gift card but because of her service I even forgot to use it. Horrible honestly after this I will not shop at this store.
While the selection is good, the wait is not. Now,full disclosure, ive worked retail&I know its not easy, but theres no reason to have a line of 18 customers and 2 people on register, which, sadly appears to be the norm at this location. Maybe hire more people? Like I said, I know how retail works, but I cant figure out why this is a regular problem...
Lots of crafting stuff for making jewellery or leatherwork and knitting. They also have displays for jewelery and picture frames for different sized pictures. Double check any frames that arent wrapped in plastic as they may be scratched from people moving them around. The prices arent too bad and they have really good sales from time to time.
Their store contents are always limited. People in my knitting group prefer online shopping...which has more variety...or they shop in New Jersey. We miss Joannes store as it enhanced Michaels...Joannes had what Michaels didnt. My visit was disappointing. It always is at the Richmond Ave. store. I will not be returning there. There is never anyone on the floor to ask questions, and cashiers arent helpful or nice. They dont give an older woman, retired teacher on a limited income the benefit of the doubt that I left my AARP card home. Treated me like I was trying to get away with a 50 cent discount. Demeaning and hurtful.
I went to Michaels to look for a glass bowl to make a centerpiece. The sections with all glass items was very disorganized. Glass items were mixed in with eachother and there was either no prices or prices that didnt match the item in front of it. The glass inventory was also very small. Definitely nothing like the Michaels on forest ave.
HOW IS THIS A ART SUPPLY STORE?? This place is slipping badly!! definitely not a place for advanced artist its a shame they dont carry different brands of higher end paints, paper pads and brushes. The watercolor paints are only available in small 5ml tubes in artist grade witch is ONLY WINSOR & NEWTON, THATS IT! The rest are some really cheap brands and they have A TERRIBLE SELECTION OF COLORS most of the main pigments there are missing or they dont carry them for months at BOTH LOCATIONS, I always stop in to check when they send cupons. last few time I went in walked right out with nothing to use my coupon with. I wont be wasting my time shopping here until they upgrade there qualities and selections ..... We need a BLICKS ART SUPPLY OR JERRY RAMAs OUT HERE BADLY!! THEY WILL KILL IT!!
If it wasnt for Nancy I would give this particular Michaels about a half of a star. Shes a sweetheart and even recommended some cool crafting but it is extremely understaffed! I must have waited to use the bathroom for 15 minutes. The woman with the dingy red dye job and bad attitude (dont know her name) expected me to wait longer.
Asked a young lady working the cash register if they had a certain paint in stock, she was unsure and asked her manager named Jason. He was very rude and seemed like he didnt care about what I was looking for. Very disappointed, will be going to ac Moore and other craft stores for now on.
I like Michaels craft store...Though it lacks high end professional things for art journaling or professional painting supplies. I used to go to AC Moore which was once on Staten Island and then closed down due to the rent of the stores location. They had a variety of selections, with decently priced items on high end names.Like Goldens paints / textures / supplies etc.So Michaels lacks certain supplies for certain artists. And the price is over priced for certain things as well, even with there % off of the items. Sad that this is the only craft store on Staten Island. And if it is, they need to work on building a larger / extensive range of items for other makers beside (for example) Pinterest followers etc.
This store is an awful place! People who work there dont know what they are have in stock and what they dont have. I was going there for two weeks to by something and they were out of stock of needed item. Than I decided to call before coming in to the store. Over the phone some lady told me that they have an item I was needed so I came in and the other lady told me that they dont have this item in stock. It was the worst experience I ever had. I will never go back to this store.

2022-05-28Soooo…. Went in to get spray paint and a lovely woman at check out asks to see my ID… so I ask (as I get my ID out) why so? “You have to be 21 to buy”… at the ripe age of 35 I thought OH! Why thank you sure… when I went to give her a coupon she said “I already gave you the senior citizen discount.” I am definitely going back… because you can’t make this up and I need that in my life. Helpful staff!

2022-06-05Horrible. Waiting online for over 10 minutes and only one person in front of me. Finally a cashier shows up and say cards only. I’m never going back to this location. Nothing but issues here. The last time they made me wait 30 minutes for spray paint. Never again

2021-12-27For anyone who is creative, Michaels has it all. For all those who love arts and crafts and creating something for someone affordable, this is the place for you. Like a kid in a candy store. Michaels is decent prices from little odds and ends things. The staff here is super friendly. And if you have any questions. Everyone was wearing a mask. The parking lot is a little small. But overall Michaels is open for business. Stop by and pick up some items and make something beautiful for someone you care about.

2017-11-30Very nice and neat michaels. The staff is very friendly and help us out immediately when asked a question. There are 2 bathrooms one for women and one for men with water fountains outside. The bathroom doors have a code and can be opened by a staff.

2019-03-19A large Michaels store with a large variety of arts and crafts supplies, decoratons, frames, ribbons and felts. Some toys and do-it- yourself kits. Friendly and helpful staff. Easily accessible location in the center of staten island, by the mall. A large parking available in front.
