As a consignor, Michaels has priced my items fairly, and always been punctual mailing checks every month. They are selective about what they will accept, but you are assured pieces that are almost like new when you shop.
I was in New York with my husband so he could have outpatient surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, and wandered into Michaels by coincidence when I went looking for a way to distract myself. I had such a lovely experience there, and with some help from the staff, picked out a few pieces that I absolutely love. It was a great way to spend a little time, rather than sitting in the hospital waiting room. I also wore one of of my new dresses to see Hamilton the following night!
A very trusted and honorable establishment. Laura helped me through my mothers estate and she couldnt have been more wonderful. Theyre best and the most established consignment in NYC because theyre honest, trustworthy in what they sell, and completely professional. Buying or selling, its always a pleasure to do business with Michaels!

I found this store while in NYC for fashion week in February of 2015 and have been a devotee ever since. I discovered your shop after I left the city so I wasnt able to stop by in person. I just received my first online purchase and I could not be happier. I want to tell everyone but at the same time, I want to keep you as my own little fashion secret! I just bought the most beautiful pair of Louboutins. I was nervous they wouldnt fit or they wouldnt look as good as the picture. Well, they fit like a glove! And looked as perfectly as you rated them. Not a scratch or knick on them. I could not be happier. This was my first purchase but will not be my last! And the next time Im in the city, Ill be dropping in. Thank you!
Its consignment. What youd expect. its hit or miss. Im not really much for designer resale as I prefer real vintage and rare exquisite pieces. yes you can find Chanel bags here but they are the ones usually no one really wants, I go to Pilgrim NY downtown for the cool iconic Chanel bags and other items. Ive tried many consignment shops and everything just feels a bit creepy. Maybe its me, but I just really like vintage, real vintage that is unique and divine and magical, this just feels like resale of stuff that maybe no one really wanted in the first place. Im sure if you come here a lot you will find a gem or too, but I dont have the time or patience.
Great choice of clothes, a pleasant shopping environment and super helpful staff. There was a small error on my receipt which they took care of promptly and graciously. I recommend this store to anyone looking for a good bargain for quality clothing. However, to be clear, this is not a thrift store.
This is THE BEST place for both consigning up to date gently worn designer items and buying wonderful things. Their Chanel and Hermes selections are great on 2 floors.The staff is always helpful and very, very professional. Opening at 9:30 am is a big plus, as well.....

When the owner of this consignment center forgets that when my wife requests to have the cloths placed for sale and rudely rejects them after many previous times selling her cloths there you can be sure that this will be the last time. My wifes cloths are high fashion from well know designers. Buyer beware! Dont forget the power of the blog.

I have both purchased and sold items at Michaels. The things they sell are beautiful and their inventory is well curated. When I sell items with them they pay promptly and keep responsible track of my items. Michaels is the top consignment shop in NYC.
A little pricier than the boutique next door but then these are authenticated luxury goods. In less than half an hour I nabbed a pair of Jil Sander wool slacks and a Theory cold shoulder sweater for a total spend of less than $200. Friendly staff and a wide range of items. Bonus: Scout the dog was in residence when I stoppped in. A must-see for any fashionista visiting New York!

The only thing pleasant about my experience is the sweet lady that greeted me when I walked in. I explained to her that I had a brand new YSL bag I was thinking about consigning. She then directed to me to the experts in the back , one of them named Rosie. Rosie had a very uninterested look on her face, before I even took the bag out. I gave her the bag and she gave me a strange look, then she gave it to the other expert. They then went to google to look up the bag (not even the actual YSL website). They whisper to each other, then she turns to me in front of another customer and says we re gonna pass, because its fake! I ask how is it fake? She says because of how it feels. I was embarrassed & l left. I went downstairs next door to another consignment store to see if they were going to tell me the same thing and they told me the exact opposite. My bag was real! I then went on to the actual YSL store on 57th Street and they told me it was real as well. I believe I was profiled. At the end of the day its not what you bring to Michaels, its who you are thats bringing it there. If I looked different maybe I wouldve been taken a bit more serious. Rosie looked at me like it wasnt possible that I could be carrying such an expensive bag. No one should feel the way I did...
Have bought many fabulous items at Michaels over the years....Ralph Lauren vintage turquoise belt, Manolo Blahnik shoes, Oscar de la Renta shoes, great sunglasses, Prada skirt....this is the best consignment store in NYC.

I ordered a beautiful Vera Wang dress thru the internet. Dress is magnificent, perfect for a wedding - price was under one hundred dollars. It is pure silk and gorgeous. I do not think anyone wore it.

Their experts are obviously desperate for more designer goods since they sold me a pair of fake Chanel flats without batting an eye. The selection was underwhelming and the staff only got in the way by blocking rooms with their stuff. Beware of fakes when you shop here.

2022-03-26I have been going to Michael’s for more than 20 yrs. and they are like family to me. People have been working there since I started going, that should tell you something. They love being there and helping people look good. I have never had a bad experience and everyone is always smiling and happy to help.If you have never gone there, you are missing a hidden treasure of NYC.

2021-12-17Wife bought a pair of shoes. My wife says this is one of her favorites of the City.Great service. Great prices for what it is.Ladies, if you shop here you need to understand that it seems a little (or a lot) expensive if you are not from the City — but the reality is that Michael’s has an impeccable collection of goods in pristine condition at generally remarkably cheap prices (under the circumstances). My wife likes all that stuff and we have spent a lot more $ for the same basic pair of wedges she bought today.Strongly recommend.

2021-05-11Bought a pair of Brunello pants Friday afternoon. They don’t let you try in the fitting room due to COVID. You are to try at home and return within 48 hours. I put on the pants and they were too small, so I took them off and put them right into the shopping bag. They are closed Sunday and Monday. I went to the store to return the pants on Tuesday around noon (less than 48 hours given they are closed Sunday and Monday). I got yelled at for returning the item after 48 hours. She then checked the pants and saw a slight stain at the back of the pants and yelled at me again that the stain wasn’t there before. I mentioned to her that I just tried it on at home and didn’t have anything to do with the stain. The tags were on and I had the receipt. She told me she could give a store credit, and then decided to issue a refund. It was really a terrible experience. Go to theRealReal.com if you are looking for second hand items. They have a great shopping experience, excellent service and price too. Michael’s also tends to be too overpriced.

2018-07-26Michaels, The Consignment Shop for Women, has a fantastic in-store- and online experience. When i lived in the city, i went in monthly and never left empty handed. If you want high-end designer fashion, Michaels does not disappoint. Their inventory is current and they have many items. The staff there is extremely helpful but never pushy- a fine line to to toe, if you ask me. Also their prices are extremely fair- you wont find any better.Their online experience is also excellent- items are easy to find and there is a plethora of pictures for each item, something a lot of sites dont always have. Hands down a great store overall!

2018-04-24I just want to say how much I love shopping at Michaels! I was there with a girlfriend last week and we had a fabulous experience. Not only did I find the most incredible pieces, I had a wonderful time because of Nicole and the other women working there. Nicole was incredibly helpful in thinking about how to style a Donna Karan wrap dress. She was also enthusiastic about all of my friends and my purchases. I live in California and she and the other ladies were so helpful with shipping. I cant say enough about what a pleasure it is to shop at Michaels - your clothes are gorgeous but your sales ladies are beautiful inside and out!

2017-12-13I wanted to update my last review from over a year ago. This place still deserves more than 5 stars. I have bought a few things here and there and have had a wonderful experience every time. I do not live in New York, and have not been to the store. But I do shop online and have had a great experience. Would highly recommend Michael’s to anyone. And will continue to do business with them in the future.

2019-03-28I have ordered twice online from Michaels and have been thrilled with my purchases. The pair of Manolo Blahnik flats I received were in such perfect condition that I splurged on a pair of Blahnik booties. Both items were in mint condition, and sent to me so quickly that I hardly had time to work up the proper excitement. I intend to shop again online, and look forward to visiting the shop when I am in NYC this summer.

2017-01-21Michaels is a true find ! They have wonderful designer consignment from clothing and shoes to bags, jewelry, and scarves. They are meticulous in what they accept and reasonable with their pricing scale and owner split. An added bonus is the friendly staff and adorable dog mascot, Buster. You will not be disappointed if you consign or shop here !
