I normally never really give a bad review but the customer service I received gave me no other option. I called them on Friday, Jan 7 regarding my mother-in-law’s dog. They said they were booked up for that day but call back the following morning and they would try their best to squeeze him in for an emergency appointment. So I called back on Jan 8 and they told me that there was nothing they can do. They shouldn’t get people’s hopes up if they don’t know for sure, that is extremely unprofessional. I was also told “things don’t always work out that way”. I’m still flabbergasted by the whole thing. Don’t bring your pet here, they are rude and uncaring to an animal who is in desperate need of medical attention.
I really could have seen myself sticking with this vet. I got the impression that they are knowledgeable and they took good care of my cat. However, when I asked for very rough estimates of cost from them theyd tell me a number only to have it turn out to be much more. The second time it happened, I knew it wasnt a mistake or accident. They gave me an estimate by phone well before the procedure, but when it came time to pay the bill was 2x what I was told. If they are able to give an estimate a day before, they could have given me one a week before.Because of their bait-and-switch pricing, I wont be going back.
Dr. Ross is a very attentive doctor as is the staff. Precautions are taken to limit the number of people in the waiting room and staff does advise pet owners that only 1 owner is allowed in the waiting room. COVID guidelines are in place. My issue is that as the pet owner you are NOT allowed into the exam room with your pet. Your pet is examined and the vet comes out to discuss results with you in the waiting area. Note: This information is, also, provided to you at the time that the appointment is scheduled and at appt. reminder calls. I tolerant this as my pet has an established pet, but this practice is extremely unusual. I am aware of other offices that allow owners into the exam room. Overall it is a good practice.
Called Middletown Animal Clinc 3 times requesting to speak to Dr Ross- 10 AM, 12 PM, 1:30 PM. I called at 10 since they open at 10 and I was told the Dr. Would likely call me in between patients. My dog was in pain and all I wanted was DR. Ross to see him for 2 minutes. Since no one called me back, @ 1:30- I decided to take my dog to Animal Medical Center on 62nd Street off York Ave. They were FANTASTIC! Even though my dog was a walk in, they quickly attended my dog when I explained his medical condition. They quickly evaluated him and gave him medicine. I will no longer take my dog to Middletown Animal Clinic. At least, Middletown should have had someone relay a message that he was overly busy and would not be available until after 5. This way I would have taken my dog in the morning elsewhere. I will also share my GREAT experience with Animal Medical Center with all my friends that have animals.
I have been dealing with Middletown Animal Clinic for well over 12 years. The women behind the front desk are all amazing. Nancy is very loving and affectionate to all 7 of my dogs and they would actually cry if she was not there. They looked for her when they entered the vets office. Nancy handles the animals with love, affection and care. She is extremely professional along with the other staff members. Dr. Earle and Dr. A are the best vets in the Bronx and they could not do as great a job without the help of their staff.
There are not enough words to say about Dr. A, Regina and Nancy. We having been going to Dr. A for years. I first saw him 10 years ago when I had my bulldog Gemma and now for my King Charles Charley.Dr. A is the most compassionate vet I ever encountered. He cares for your pet like it was his own pet. Regina is one of the best vet techs ever. She truly cares for your animals and is always there when you need something. Nancy (we call Charleys angel) goes above and beyond for you. My boy had two surgeries with Dr. A and me being a frantic dog mom lol she always call me and keeps me updated so I never worry. She even called to check up on him days after surgery and offers any assistance needed. Our boy is in such good hands!
My cat has been a patient at this clinic for about 3 years. The doctors are great with the animals, however dealing with the front desk is always a mission. Especiallyyyyyy Nancy, Oh Nancy how miserable of a person you are. Female if you’re not happy with your job, just get the hell out of there & let someone compassionate, sweet, hardworking taking the place. Because you’re a true proof of a “WASTE OF SPACE”. Just because of her, I won’t be returning to this clinic, up until she leaves.
I would give this place no star if i could. I brought my Dog there for a lump on his groin area. In Vet said it was a hernia just keep an eye on it its not a big deal tht was in march .in may,my dog needed surgery since his intestines went into his hurnia when i brought him back to the vet he said bring him to ER we dont perform any kind of service for this handed me a few pamplets for ER this place almost killed my dog! Never would i recomend this place!
I just want to say that the genuine care and concern for animals is evident in the way that the staff treats their patients with care and kindness. Nancy, you are amazing! You have a heart made of gold! I wish that there were more angels on Earth as kind as you! Your heart is always in the right place❤️! Your kindness towards my family, my animals, and I will never be forgotten!
Firstly,Upon arrival I discovered that pet owners are not allowed in the clinic whatsoever, which was NOT indicated to me upon making my appointment. I was forced to trust that my dog would be safe taken to whatever back room they have for visits while I waited outside. I understand that due to the pandemic and CDC guidelines, certain protocol needs to be taken , however I felt as though they are not considering pet owners (or nervous pets) with this rule and an alternative protocol can be implemented on their end.Secondly, upon arrival I discovered the vet visit was more money than was indicated to me on the phone which I specifically asked when making the appointment, and when I indicated that to the young lady she said “oh, I don’t know what to tell you.”Thirdly, the doctor apparently just callsYou from the vet room and doesn’t even make it a point to talk to you face to face. I guess he is too good to go outside while pet owners have to wait outside. It was very inpersonal and I had to hear news about my dog DURING A SCHEDULED VET visit over the phone while I was outside the clinic. This makes no sense. I will not be returning here.
The worst! I can tell you that most of these reviews are BS and they pay people to write them. Everyone in the Bronx I talk to hates this place. And with good reason. My cat was very sick. Could not move. I asked them for an appointment and they said no. They had no room. Please keep in mind I have been going to them for 6 years before this. Now I understand people have appointments, and I understand it’s busy. I just feel they should move things around for an emergency. No compassion, no sense of responsibility to the pets or people. This 4.5 star on here is 100%BS. DO NOT GO HERE. THEY ARE PAID REVIEWS. This places is the worst. This happened 2 years ago and I’m still grossed out by them. Do yourself a favor and go to a place that genuinely cares.
I arrived early to my appointment and they called me right away. My cat doesnt like males and others touching her. The nurse and the vet were so nice and made Sasha very comfortable she didnt fight at all. The vet was giving her shots and even took blood and not one complaint. I definitely will be going back as it is very difficult to find a vet that she can behave and actually like that is kind to animals.
I don’t even know where to start. The experience is great from front desk to exam room. Marcella and Nancy at the front are absolutely awesome. Dr. A and his super sweet tech showed me and my boy patience, kindness, and my guy got some free cuddles!!! They didn’t even attempt to order unnecessary tests and were pleased to tell me everything was ok. Dr. A patiently explained with to expect and didn’t make me feel silly for being a cautious new puppy owner. This will be our care team from now on. We’re super grateful 💕
I recommend Middletown Animal Clinic to anyone who wants a great veterinarian office for their loved pet. My daughter and I found them a few years back, we take our pets here because we know they are an all around great clinic. Recently we have taken my daughters puppy Domino who is our new addition to the family there for check ups and vaccinations. He didnt even feel the vaccines when they were administered, gentle hands equals gentle heart. He was relaxed threwout the visit. The staff are obvious pet lovers and that leaves your pet and you feeling more relaxed. They are professional, thorough, clean, friendly, accommodating, and empathetic too. And at the end of the visits they gave a couple of treats for my daughters puppy, I thought what a nice touch! If I could give more stars I definitely would.
Unreliable if you need to make an appointment. No response on call backs.. I requested to speak with Vet doctor about an issue with my dog and I was told the Doctors are to busy to call back. I suggest to find a new animal clinic for anyone trying to bring their pet for a visit.
My friend referred me to this vet a while back. Our Dog used to be scared to go to the old vet. To make things worse, the old vet was scared of my dog 😒.... and our dog is small...So we gave this Veterinary a try, I love how no one is scared of our dog, they are very thorough in his check ups and genuinely care for your pet.Our dog is now ok by been handled by the Vet and his nurse, he is not nervous shedding, he doesnt shake at all, and he has become more and more at ease going there for his annual check ups.We love them.
I been taking my dogs here for 3 years now after i had an emergency with one of my pups getting into my fishing tackle box and when i drove as fast as i could to Animal Hospital of Morris Park, they indicated all the patients waiting there and said i had to go to an emergency hospital... after 15 years of being a customer, that was horrible... 15 minutes later i was welcomed by Dr Ross and Middletown Animal Clinic, they have been my go to veterinarian ever since, and recently when i had to say goodbye to my friend of 13 years they were compassionate and helped me get thru it all. Nice Vet price is reasonable for the area and they are up front with their costs....
No compassion and no emergency visits. I live nearby and i called for my cat. First i was placed on hold , then disconnected. I called back and told them i was hung up on and the girl coldly said how can i help you no apology nothing. when i said what was wrong she coldly responded no appts until the 25th. Lousy customer service no compassion, very cold service. I am not a client but i was looking for a new vet. Taking my service elsewhere. thanks but no thanks
The staff was kind and understanding when the difficult decision to put my buddy, Louie, to sleep was made. No judgement. No side eye. I was given time with my dog to say goodbye and be with him through the process.I am thankful for the kindness that was extended to me and Louie.
10/20Thumbs up...had our 7 mth old Yorkie, Shakespeare neutered...staff were all... patient, kind.professional..its a very busy practice-. everything different now with curbside consults, etc n it can be very distrcting..yet still they kept their focus on me n my pet..the Dr then calls u on the phone while ur waiting outside....every question answered..not rushed ..no matter how busy they were. ..I suggest u have ur questions written down n ready for the drs call ..during ur visitAlso..try to be patient when you call the office. Sometimes the wait time is long..but keep in mind ..its never as long as it feels..n when its ur turn ..ur not rushed..So I say ..GOOD EXPERIENCE...I wish u the same
I have been taking my dog to this vet for two years now and never had a problem with them. However, I recently called because it looked my dogs nail had cracked and was red. I was hoping they could squeeze me in the same day. I was told that there would be an additional charge of $125 because it was an emergency. So in other words they could not see my pet unless I paid an additional fee even though they appeared to have availability. The manager Nancy was rude and questioned why I didnt call earlier in the day if it was so urgent. She lacked professionalism and did not like what I had to say. In the end they offered to squeeze her in the following day for a morning appt. Otherwise I would have to wait an entire week.
Middletown Animal Clinic is the best place to take your pet. They saved my sons German Shepherd Service Dogs life. We didnt realize how sick our dog was. They did. After sugery and treatment our dog is healthy and so happy.Every time we go there they treat us so kindly and with the utmost respect. If you really care about your pet, this is the place to go.Thanks to all of you at Middletown Animal Clinic.🐶🐺❤
Took my male eclectus parrot for a check up amd to cut his nails. They were nice to me and my bird. The doctor was an aviary specialist and taught me more than what I had found online (which I really appreciate) The price was affordable and they even gave me a coupon for the pet shop near by! I will be definitely coming back!
I have brought my cats to Dr. Earl and his staff for years and have found them to be caring and compassionate. Even when one of the cats was in the hospital, one of the staff members who also worked at the hospital would visit Thelma while she was there. Great people.
Dr. Earle has being caring for our Great Danes for 20 years. He and his staff have been gentle kind and compassionate with all of them from the beginning when he first began his business! We were so happy to finally have a veterinarian in our community that we trusted with our Danes! Thanks to all of you!!
Would love to know why I had to speak to three different people and waste 15 minutes of my time to be told theres no availability. Why would you put me on hold if thats what youre going to do, especially after explaining my pets weakness and vomitting. How are there more than three people at the front desk and nobody has an answer during the initial call? Learn how to do your job and answer accordingly
First impressions are always great but this place quickly accumulated a bad taste in my mouth. Had a 3 month old puppy at the time and they gave him his shot- no problem. Told me hed need to come back once more to finish off the shots before I can start walking him, etc. When I returned, they told me theyd have to give him one shot now and another next week because he was small, but why couldnt they have told me that before? I was already making plans. Then I had asked them to examine him as they were supposed to do for free the first time and charged me $45 just to look at him. THEY DID NOTHING BUT GLANCE AT HIM.- They should not have charged me for it cause it was free. And when I took him to a different vet (yes I did cause screw this place), they did an actual examinzation and I watched them-They also have a tendency to charge things without telling you. At the end, the lady at the front was trying to talk to me about the heartworm medicine (which she clearly knows nothing, just whatever they tell her to say) and didnt bother to tell me itll be another $65. Yes its very important and I took it but thats a giant jump on pay. Im only asking for the little things here.****BUT THE ONE THAT GOT TO ME THE MOST????? Skip to this part if you dont wanna read the rest. This is where the line was drawn.***When I took my now 4 month puppy to the new vet, they told me he actually needed two more shots. One was parvo and another one (forgot the name for the moment) to be given at six months of age. Middletown DID NOT inform me of any of this. If I trusted them, my puppy could have still had a weakness to parvo and that is something I do not take lightly. They werent informative and gave attitude when we tried to pull answers out of them with questions.Even if a lot of you seem to have had good days here with them, make sure theyre at least giving you all the information you need please. All these five stars seem so confusing to me. They overcharged and it is most definitely NOT WORTH IT.The new clinic was less pricey, had such a better atmosphere, the people there were even so excited to see the puppy and they told me EVERYTHING from the start. Even had a better way to give him shots. Told me dates of when his shots need to be. Told me about tick/flea medicine. Suggested ways for him to be fed. And gave me an entire list of 24 hour emergency places. But yes that was my experience.
I went to this medical center last week. My 2 month old puppy was sick with diarrhea and vomiting. The doctor that saw my dog was Dr. Ross. I was told it is just an upset stomach. They treated the dog and told me he would bounce back in a couple of hours. After taking him home he continued to vomit i called back and let them know of the situation. Dr. Ross told me to let the dog rest and try feeding him again in a couple of hours. I did as i was directed and no improvement on the dogs status. I rushed the dog to an emergency hospital and was told my dog has parvo. i didnt know what that was until they explained it to me. Dr. Ross never mentioned anything about any other issue it could be just an upset stomach. When i called back to let Dr. Ross know of the situation and voice my complaint. Dr. Ross reply to me was whats your end game thinking I was looking for something when all i was concerned about was the well being of my animal and not being informed properly of what could be wrong with my puppy. If you go to this vet please ask for another doctor Do Not See Dr. Ross. In my opinion he is unprofessional and rude.
The vet tells me my pit bull tore his acl. I come back 2 years later and the same vet says there’s no acl tear. Never had surgery done or anything so how does an acl magically heal itself ? Hmmm 🤦🏼♂️ overpriced and doesn’t take care credit either. But very nice/courteous staff.
WARNING!!! Do Not Bring your bird here. There are no licensed Avian Specialists here and only licensed Avian Specialists have the training and knowledge to treat birds. When I called and asked on 7/01/17 if they have an Avian Specialist they lied and said yes. When I asked again but the 2nd time I included the word Licensed I was told no. I explained to them they cannot and should not see or treat birds since there is no one there with the propper training to do so. They tried telling me that they could. Before learning the truth I did take my bird there a few times. The last time I went they were going to use a hand towel that was obviously already used on a cat and smelled of cat piss. Thank goodness I brought my own hand towel for my bird. Needless to say I will NEVER return there. Now that I know better my bird is only seen by a licensed Avian Specialist. The staff can be very rude and the facility is not very clean.
This place is a scam. Don’t bring your puppy here they’re willing to lie for family members based on the purchase of a pet from their pet shop knowing the puppy is sick. Just shows they have no care in the world for animals just money, bring your puppy elsewhere. These people are scammers and liars
I’ve been coming here since Jan 2021 with my older pup Konnie who is now 11 years old. Dr. Ross and Dr. Earle are amazing! My dog has always received proper care and expert advice which i value. They are both detailed and always fully examine Konnie. The follow up is appreciated as well. Dr. Ross and sometimes the staff follow up via call on any medications Konnie is on just to see how he is reacting to the medication and food. I love the attention they give every client, truly feels like a family aspect. Even today, a clients dog passed away and one of the doctors was hit with the sudden news that the dog had passed and he was very shocked and worried about it. Anyway, I’ve never had a bill over 400 bucks which i value since inflation is insane and dogs are tedious and expensive although, everyone’s case is different. Konnie is always scared to go in but after the visit he is always relieved 😅 deff recommend Middletown animal clinic to folks!

2022-07-25If you care about your pets and want them to be properly taken care of, don’t go here. I have never met a more incompetent vet. I came here with my dog 5 days ago and he had a swollen and red paw. Dr. Ross took a look at it and said “I don’t know” and told me to put ear drops on it … fast forward to this morning and this how my dogs paw looks. I decided to bring him in and once I expressed my concern to Dr. Ross his response was “I don’t need this. You can go somewhere else if you don’t like how I work.” With my dogs paw bleeding and he’s limping I had to think of him first so I let him continue with the exam. He dismissed me and my girlfriends concerns numerous times and was very disrespectful towards us saying more than once that we could leave. According to the American vet association once the vet has agreed for patient care, they may not neglect and must continue to provide services to that injury or illness. Also, as a vet shouldn’t you be someone that cares about animals? The fact that he immediately got defensive and wanted us out clearly seeing how badly my dogs paw looked ( as you can see in the picture, and it looks so much worst in person ) just says a lot about his character. He was still unable to say what’s wrong with his paw, just a bunch of “i don’t knows and what do you think?” I will not be bringing my pets here again!

2022-05-12What a wonderful experience I had today with Middletown Animal Clinic. I had never been there before but now I will definitely go again! Every staff member I spoke to was very pleasant and helpful. When I spoke to the doctor he was so nice and explained everything really well. I am very impressed!

2022-08-02I must say that I made the worst decision to bring my dog here to be seen. Dr Ross doesn’t seem to know or diagnose what problem my doggy might have and is quick to catch an attitude and act like a little girl when you’re asking questions. IM PAYING YOU TO SEE MY DOG THEREFORE YOU SHOULD ANSWER WHATEVER QUESTIONS I HAVE.

2022-05-25Horrible experience! I brought my cat there to get checked. Came home and charged me a full examination fee when they said my cat was being aggressive and was gonna bite them my cat is the sweetest. They had to nerve to charge me the full examination fee meanwhile they didnt weigh my cat, didnt check his hematoma, didnt check his mouth and Dr earl told me to come back to sedate him !! I called to get a full or partial refund and they refused! Ill never go there again! Dr earl was rude and cold how is he a vet?! And please whomever responds I dont want a sorry because sorry isnt good enough! Ill be going to my vet 45 mins away rather than a 5 min walk down the block! AWFUL!

2022-05-31I have brang my dog for a physical and her shots which I payed close to 300$. Now 2 weeks ago I brang my cat for a UTI... which she was escorted to the doctor for no more but probably less then 5 minutes. I payed $113 or more but included meds. Today I call to schedule for my cat to be spayed. Thank God I asked since I pay in cash ... whats the estimate? The receptionist tells me $600. Are you serious? Do they even realize theyre free services. We choose to give them business. But dont beat us over the head

2022-04-02They need more chairs i had to stand up for an hour. Other then that the service is amazing and the doctor is too . Loves that the doctor comes out and explains everything to you . I wish they had a bigger office this place fills up fast . They had 7 people not including staff in one room .

2019-12-10I have been coming here for about 1&1/2 years. The service is excellent and the staff is friendly/ helpful. I was going to another clinic before where is was it less expensive but the service was terrible and the place was cramped and grungy. Middletown offers good service at a relatively good price. I am very satisfied with the quality of care my dogs are getting. The place is very clean and the wait times have been short. I would recommend this place to a friend.

2022-01-02Worst vet I’ve ever been to. The doctor is compassionate but the staff can never gets anything done. They were supposed to approve my dogs prescribed food and I was assured the first time it will get approved. Processed it again, only for it to be canceled AGAIN because no one can approve the food. Then I went to the groomers to get him groomed and the vet did not give me the correct paper work for him to get groomed. Had to reschedule yet ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. This vet only cost me time and money.

2022-01-20My 13 pound dog was bitten by a 40 pound dog. He was left badly injured, so i immediately called Middletown Animal Clinic for help. Despite this being towards closing time, they had no problem taking me in. That same day, they where able to heal him and give him back to me with at home care instructions. (There was 0 wait time when i got there) I asked to have follow up visits, and they where kind enough to fit me in as needed without any additional charge. Since the event, I have been calling them with questions and they always answer my call and give me valued recommendations. My dog has been recovering very fast all due to their help. Im not sure where my dog would be if it wasnt for them.Special thanks to Regina, Ross and Dr. Earl for saving my dogs live.

2022-02-02When I called I specifically asked does the doctor specialize in exotic animals because I own a ferret ,they assured me that yes they do. They gave me an appointment the next day . It took me a hour to get there and then I waited an hour to be seen . They took my ferret to the back for about 4 minutes and doctor Ross came out and said does my ferret urinate regularly. I said yes . He said he has a blockage you need to bring him to the exotic animal hospital in Manhattan. I was shocked I said maybe he just needs to pee its been 2 hrs he assured me I was wrong. I rushed him over there spent almost $600 just to find out I was right he just had to pee . Do NOT BRING YOUR ferrets here or any exotics they do not know what they are talking about. Wasted my money and time.
