Two stories, didnt feel like the air was on at all. No bathrooms, if you gotta go, the McDonalds two buildings over has restrooms upstairs. The employees in the store seemed annoyed to have to be there. We bought a couple hundred dollars worth of product. The guy who helped us check out was incredibly nice and helpful in board and bagging our books. We will definitely be returning!
My family have been shopping here for many years. Although the store is very small and crowded, they have huge selections of comics, manga, funko and rare statures. Just be careful when you use the steep narrow stairs up and down. My little daughter injured her arm by the side wall going up.
I love what midtown comics times square the way it looks and its the key of the city. Times square is New York expression when people arrive or people live in the city you know its a thrill that you get when you go down to midtown times square Grand Central is so epic is so amazing its a beautiful city and its a beautiful place times square you got a lot of diversities a lot of things to see is just so wonderful
Midtown Comics is a very well stocked comic book store, everything there was relatively cheap. Midtown Comics doesnt only have comics it also has very good merchandise with action figurines, plushies, t-shirts, and Funko pops. There were mini statues made of wax that were SUPER realistic. The reason this is a four instead of a five is because if youre looking for a really rare and expensive comic this is not the place to go.
Yeah I think 0 should be more accurate. Not alot of great comic shops in Manhattan really anymore and you would think a staple like this one would be good well ur wrong. U read the reviews, everybody not complaining about the stuff for nothing. I personally think they come off a little racist too based off the 3-4 times Ive been there in life but now I see they treat everybody in there like dirt
I felt like a child. A very happy child that was allowed to touch to toys! Theres no comparison in the comic shop world to this legendary place. Save for its other locations. Im so happy theyre open, the staff was friendly, practiced social distancing and upheld all Covid regulations. AND... my entire purchase was %20 off that day. I could go on, but you should just go! Gain a new hobby, feed the flames of an old/continual one, or fuel the fire of a new generations interest in comics and comic culture and head to Midtown Comics ASAP!
They have a comprehensive collection of graphic novels, comic books, magazines and more, are open relatively late, have convenient city locations and helpful staff - it’s old-school in that there’s so much to look at and discover there, both accessible and truly more interesting due to the reading materials than to any commercialism - east side, west side and downtown locations~ I will note that my favorite nyc comic book store happens to be Jim Hanley’s Universe, on 3rd avenue near 33rd street, but if it’s in the evening after 7 pm, you’re in the Times Square area and looking for a comic book store, it’s an upstairs walk and worth it-
I go here every single time I come to visit home its located up some stairs so get ready for some short of breath on the first floor they have manga some of there new releases on manga, comics isnt a huge thing I look for but they have a great selection on the next floor also the figures are amazing if thats what your into aswell there is something new that I buy on every visit.✌️
My boys love this place. It is a bit challenging to get to. The entrance is around the corner and up a very steep flight of stairs. It looks like an apartment converted into a store. There are 2 levels. There are books, comics, graphic novels, and tons of collectibles like figurines and action figures. The selection is amazing.
The entrance isnt ideal and you have to wait for anyone whos leaving to exit before you can go up but its worth it. The selection of comics is organized and immense. The staff were informative and helpful and I absolutely loved the atmosphere. The nerd in you will love it! Their vast array of graphic novels was fantastic. Absolutely reccomend!
Any comic/manga lovers favorite place. This place has two floors. One is dedicated to the books and some mini novelties. While the second floor is dedicated to figurines, shirts, posters, and more novelties. Its a pretty fine sized place for the spot theyre in. If youre looking to expand or collection or get a gift, this place is where you need to go.
First time to actually visit a Midtown Comics! I have ordered back issues from them online, so it was kinda cool to be there in person. The shop in Times Square has that old time comic book store feel. After walking up some stairs to enter, you have two floors to explore. First floor looks like where all the new books are, and the second has all the back issues. Toys, shirts, and all other sorts of stuff are there too. Would love to go back if I had more time in the city!
Favorite comic book store in NYC! They have a HUGE selection or almost everything! Their action figures are really cool and the staff is really friendly. Good place to pick up gifts, souvenirs, or just spend some down time while in the city. Also, the views outside their windows are sweet! Worth checking out!
42 Street location. Super Rude staff today on second floor. The discount rack. I put this Batman comic down and this 1 employee guy jumps down my throat like, “Are you buying this?!” I’m like no. And he’s like “well it doesn’t go there!!” Dude. Really? Mind you it’s his job to keep the merchandise together. So what’s he doing? His job? No. The slob has his back against the comics rack leaning on it with his cell phone out, in his privilege stance. He acts as if I’m doing him a favor by shopping there. I live far and it takes me a while to get to this location. Been a customer almost all my life. Spent lots of money at the store. Didn’t get a discount either despite spending over $100, which is supposed to happen. It didn’t. Done with this location.
This place is a temple. Plain and simple. If you love comics as I do, you can get lost in here and spend hours browsing through publication after publication and be in absolute heaven. They have all the new issues, they have a solid, substantial section dedicated to past issues. They have the most famous and well known Marvel, DC, Image titles, but also a ton of minor comics. The Graphic Novels section is drool worthy. There is a very rich collection of action figures and Pop figures. They have manga, trading cards, RPG dice, backpacks, t-shirts, pins, wallets, you name it. The staff is funny, kind, helpful and ready to help you find whatever youre looking for. If you are a tourist and dont have room to carry anything you buy back with you, they can send it to you, anywhere in the world. I cannot recommend it more. Kudos.
This is the best location and my personal favorite. I love that there are 2 levels here:The first level for the new releases and current comics, graphic novels, and books. The second level dedicated to collectibles, clothing, and back issues. Midtown Comics Times Square rules!
Midtown Comics is a great, clean, well-organized comic shop. For comics, they tend to have a very typical selection with nothing necessarily special or out of the ordinary (aside from a few exclusive cover variants.) Their stature assortment is very impressive though. Absolutely worth a visit when youre in the area, but dont expect top find any comics that have been on your list for a long time.
Do not go there. We would have bought loads of stuff but the staffs attitude was hostile. They did not offer their service but told my daughter to put down the magazines we were about to buy. Two minutes later they told my daughter not to stand where she did while waiting for me. So we left - and found a better place to put our money and to buy the comics we wanted.
Amazing selections that are incredibly well organized and a joy to discover through the racks and glass cabinets. Staff members are passionate and helpful which makes it all the more delightful to visit this little slice of comic book heaven in midtown. Pretty sure you’ll be able to find something you’ll love whatever your budget may be.
Highly knowledgeable crew at this shop, without any of the cringey attitude either! I asked for help with an issue and I got a great answer. That doesnt sound like much, but comic shops can be judgemental AF sometimes. So 10 points to midtown comics for being well stocked and well staffed 🙏
Terrible customer service. Ordered a book online and it never got delivered according to the tracking number. I even waited just like their website implies due to Covid slow downs. When it never came i contacted midtown and the customer service rep told me i waited too long and couldn’t help me do anything. When i asked to speak to a supervisor the rep refused to connect to someone else and when i insisted they stopped replying. I will never buy from them again. Buyers bewareEdit:They ended up contacting me bc of the review and corrected to situation upgraded to 3 stars. But still should have been taken care of right away.
They have the most stock of comics in the city. You may have to really look for it should this place be a first time visit. But when it comes down to their supply, you have comics of variety and some collectibles. Managed to get me a Gunpla model thats usually hard to find.
Cool place to geek out! The main floor has all the latest comic books you could want. Plus various oddities of comics, manga, and graphic novels. The upper floor has a lot of cool merchandise. You can find t-shirts, statuettes, funko pops, posters, and so much more. We spent a couple of hours there just trying to see everything. If you are looking for a great comic book store with all the coolest merch to match you will not be disappointed.
Midtown Comics near Times Square is a great location if you want to grab the latest release of manga and comics. Their upper floor has Japanese imports and figures. Ive ordered books online from them before during their sales so Im mystified on where they keep all of their extra stock which isnt on the shop shelves. It seemed fairly busy with customers browsing when I went on Sunday night after Anime NYC.Something worth noting: this place is EXTREMELY inaccessible for anyone with a wheelchair since it is stairs only access for the main entrance and top floor. You wont be missing out much, maybe try going to Strand Books instead.
Whilst theres nothing wrong with this place I was very let down. It is no different from most comic book shops. They have an extensive range of comics with back issues upstairs along with a good selection of statues and figurines. They also deliver, hold stock for you and you can have stock sent to there store to pick up.It is worth a visit if comics and action figures are your thing and youre by Times Square but you probably will be able to find most items elsewhere and cheaper
Alright, Alright, Alright. Midtown comics has an amazing library of both old and new comics! Not only that, they also have Mangas (Japanese comics or graphic novels) Action Figures, Statues, Apparel, Funko Pops, Japanese imports, Graphic novels, Books & Magazines, etc. The place is really well organized so you shouldnt have a problem finding that particular comic that you may want. If youre a comic book fan, someone that just enjoys them, or want to swing by, definitely go down to Midtown Comics. The staff is also helping and nice as well!
Located on the 2nd floor, this is one of the best shops in the city with a decent back stock (mostly online). They have an extensive comic related figure and other non book (as they describe it) stock,t-shirts, toys and other collectibles. Also they have a 20 per cent off comics with every $160 spent when you sign up.
I love this store so much. This time I visited they had dark souls III figurines but no dancer of the boreal Valley :( but again this is a comic book specialized store and theyre really good at it (although didnt have xmen messiah complex so I bought it from forbidden planet).
A fine store for the latest comics. A very decent bakc issue catalog. A store with a physical presence? That matters to me. They wont have everything. But they have most. Staff is friendly and hpful if you need. Been here many times. Their online presence? The site says yes or no. Good job by them.
I havent been to this store for a while so I went to the 40th street location and how rude can the employees get. Wow, one said he wasnt even suppose to be there today and the cashier was rude and I just noticed that I didnt even get my discount. I think I really have to give up with this store as I have been shopping here for about 28 years and I have had better service pre pandemic. The employees there dont want to be there and they dont want to help a customer. Super sad with the state of this organization.
Fantastic comic shop right in Times Square! Tons and tons of comics (even more on the second floor!). Decent selection of figurines and collectibles as well. It was super easy to find what I was looking for, simple and intuitive layout. The staff is super helpful and friendly- as a young woman just getting into comics I was a bit nervous entering a comic shop for the first time, almost certain I would be the only girl there. I was so happy to find a welcoming environment with both men and women working there. More than that, everytime I’ve been back I’ve had the chance to chat with different team members and hear their recommendations based off what I’m reading. They have a solid loyalty program, and you can order online for quick and easy pick up.
I bought four comic books when I am done reading them I am going to leave them on the bus or train. Writers want you to read and artist want you see and I enjoy things better when I share them with you.As for the store, it was a stereotypical good time, the door is hard to find, you have to ask the guy on the street that knows and honestly he should be a paid employee. Their is a comic shop in the Bronx and Queens where you cant find the door at all.
A Must-Visit for comics-lover”You can find most of the new issues here from DC to Marvel plus other minor comics brand. Further, do not miss a variety of figures, vinyl toys, gift t-shirts on the 2nd floor. Its so much fantastic just browsing all those toys, toys, toys. Besides, their prices are quite reasonable. I myself hauled some rare late issues here.
Just dropped in, after seeing the banner on the outside of the building: they have a nice selection of comics on the lower floor, plus one more floor filled with tons of statues/figures (various formats) and collectibles. I recommend a visit if you are in the area and are into this.
If you love comic books. If you are a comic book collector, this store is a dream come true. It has every comic book ever created. New releases and back issues as well. Not only that, there is thousands of different characters merchandise. I am a comic book reader and collector myself and I walked into this store and my friends later said that I 😀 had the biggest smile they ever seen. It truly is amazing. It is a sparkling clean store. The staff is absolutely fantastic and they know everything about comic books. I highly recommend a visit.
My son is addicted to this place and I like to roam the aisles browsing the art while he chooses. The staff are friendly enough and seems like a good place to nerd-out. I asked a couple of questions about searching for a comic issue featuring Juggernaut for my kid and I got an encyclopedic rundown from one of the staff members. Didnt mind it at all...was impressed actually Lol
Came here few times. Great to always see people there. Alot of comics. Mangas. And books to choose from. Along with other nice merchandise. Prices are reasonable. Friendly staff. I will come here again.I arrived at this establishment again. This time unfortunately my shopping experience didnt go well due to the rudeness of one employee that ruined it. I asked him one question, it was a simple yes or no question yet he gives me a bad attitude. Not gonna come here spot anymore.
Big damn comic shop. Biggest in the land from what I hear. Ultimately though, its comic selection isnt the biggest Ive seen, at least what they have on the floor. There were more toys and figures than comics. A must stop if you are in NYC. I was only truly disappointed by one thing, the merch. The actual Midtown comics merch. I started by looking for a comic variant printed for the store, no luck. I wanted something for my collection that said I got this at Midtown!. Then, when checking out, I found a small display of Midtown merch. I was disappointed, it wasnt anything special, just some general print merch anyone could order online from a print shop. Standard bags and mugs with the logo stamped on them. I would have liked an enamel pin or vinal sticker.
Absolutely amazing place for any nerdy comic and graphic novel lover and anime they have that too! Soany good statues as well and coming from a person that has 20+ statues these are well made. Even if you arent looking to buy anything the store has an wonderful atmosphere like you just jumped through the front page of a comic yourself will definitely be coming back!
I highly recommend you find another store to buy comics. Graham Crackers, Atomic Empire, G-Mart, TFAW, Beeda’s… ANYWHERE besides this store. I was double charged for shipping, and I spent a month and a half trying to get them to refund the additional charge. From “WolverGino” to the senior web coordinator Michael Staub, each person I interacted with acted like there wasn’t a problem. I was charged 8.99 for shipping and then 9.99 for shipping, and when I pointed this out, I was told the system would “automatically take care of it.” Then when I did not receive a refund after receiving the package, I reached out. I was told I would get the refund within a week. I waited over a week and was told to just wait longer. After a month I contacted them and Michael Staub wanted to start by acting like it looked fine on his end, when he seemed to think that 63.05+28.92 = $79.91. Which it does not. However, $79.91 matched the final invoice on the website. When I pointed this out, he said that my actual total was $72.98. A total he could not present an invoice for, and after he continued to act like I was a problem I just gave up and took the 8.99 he offered me in refund; even though I am pretty sure that it’s illegal to tell me you are going to ship my books for 8.99, and then after you have shipped them tell me it’s really 9.99. Never once did he apologize for the inconvenience his company had caused, never once did he admit any kind of fault in the situation. I don’t know how this person became your customer service manager of anything, but if you don’t believe me, I will gladly send you all the interactions I had with your company. The worst experience I have ever had with any company EVER. If I could have sent the books back, I would have. I will never do business with this company again. Midtown Comics: A place where you are not a customer, you are a problem!
Terrible! They shipped my order of comics without any protection. They arrived predictably damaged. When I asked them about it, they gave me a hard time, blamed me for it, and then when I finally got a return, they told me a stole the damaged bags and boards so they could ban me. I will gladly share our email communications publicly so people understand the type of people theyre buying from. Also, theyre well known for buying 5* internet reviews so dont buy the posted reviews. Ask anyone whos ever bought from them.
I live in Canada and ordered almost 30 comic books from Midtown. 18 were preorder. I received the non-pre order books pretty quickly and in good shape. The 18 preorders were 6 releases of 3 comics each. Every release was shipped to me individually at no extra shipping cost and every shipment showed up within 2 weeks and in good shape. Every comic is shipped with cardboard backing and in slip covers. I loved ordering from Midtown and plan to again if I have a need to in the future. I also hope to visit the physical location if I’m ever able to!
Amazing comic shop with a huge assortment of collectibles.2 floors of great stuff - you could spend many hours here and still not see everything they have to offer. Prices are on par with other comic shops and online retailers, so its nice to not get hit with typical NYC price gouging. The shop is really well organized and the crew are friendly and knowledgeable. Luckily, I dont work in the city any more, or I would be broke from going here every week on my lunch breaks! I will definitely visit whenever I am in the area.
Awesome large two-story store with lots of selection. They have comics, manga, figures of all kinds, clothing, charms, pins, buttons, lanyards, posters, etc. The staff was friendly and offered assistance without following you around or being overbearing. (You know how some store clerks will follow you around and make you feel guilty even though you would never steal? They didnt do that.) The prices were not jacked way up from what I saw. Just the usual pricing. There were so many comics to look at but I was looking for things I cant get easily at home or online so ended up getting some figures. They had a lot of stuff that isnt super common and that was pretty cool to see. I dont think I saw any actual games for sale but there was a lot of merchandise based on games. If Im in New York again Im definitely going back! Its a must-visit for manga, comic, and gaming fans.
The three people that were on-staff and visible tonight were awesome--super helpful and super friendly and fast. This was only my second time visiting Midtown Comics and I am very grateful for the great customer service. The inventory goes without saying--of course its incredible and so fun to look at!
This place is full of wonderful comic books and you can feel the love for its thats put into the store. The staff are very familiar with DC and Marvel properties and are very helpful. The second floor is filled with incredibly looking figures that all peak your interest. My one gripe with the store is that the manga section is in very poor condition(lack of stock, poor organization, manga books are in bad conditions) and not well kept. Manga has risen to be as if not more popular as Marvel and DC sales wise so the section should at lest be maintained. Other than that I can say this is a great store and you will have a wonderful time if you enjoy comic books and figurines.
The store can honestly be a hit or miss. Sometimes theyll have the comics you want and other times they wont. Same goes for the staff most notably the dude with the long hair and pink highlights that always sounds miserable and tries spout insults under his breath. Ill never understand why these types of bitter people even choose to work there. Also no ADA accessbility for those of you with wheelchaies
Great comic store near times square. Two levels of books, graphic novels, funkos and other cool swag. Found a spiderman graphic novel that I was hunting forever. Pretty good manga section. And at the very front there is a a case with some amazing scale models from star trek! Worth a visit.
This is a truly one of a kind experience, if youre a big comic fan or sci-fi even, this place is for you. They have tons of collectable things to choose from and obtain, it is pricy but well worth even to stop in and look around. Theres 2 floors of fun inside, so have at and let your inner nerd out!
Super cool spot for new comics and trade collections. Tons of Pop figured and toys upstairs as well as detailed collectible figures and back issues! Found a sweet Rick and Morty toy here and looked at the new issues of Buffy. Helpful and supremely knowledgeable staff, this place is awesome. Does not seem accessible by wheelchair unless there is a hidden elevator someplace.
Not sure where to best post this, so going to post it at all their locations.I recently order some hardcover art books from Midtown Comics and received what I can only describe as the most well packed, well taken of shipment Ive ever received from a retailer. The books were packed securely within individual cardboard coverings and shipped in a larger-than-required box to ensure ample space for additional packaging cushion. Really blown away and appreciative of the care and effort taken here to ship these books out.Immensely satisfied with my experience and highly recommend Midtown Comics. Well done!

2022-01-23Great selection of comics, graphic novels, Manga, toys, Funko Pops, statues and comic supplies. Prices can be a bit high, but its an awesome place to get your weekly books. Helps if you have a pull list so you can just walk in and pick up your books. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. My go to place for my books.

2022-04-08Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. The kind of nerds that are more than happy to discuss whatever nerdy thing youre into. Great figures and collectibles on display and a great comic selection.

2022-06-18Whats not to like ? So long as you like comic stores this one is hard to beat. Lots of selection on two floors. Staff is courteous. My kid wanted Pokemon cards but the guy said they are all snapped up by 40-year old men 😐

2022-07-01Fun to visit but nothing too out of this world.Got a few cool things. Would recommend to go inside and take a quick look.(Im not a comic person) - (might be a better experience if you do like comics a lot)
