I had seen a special on the founder almost 15 years ago - placed the want to try it sometime but the ability to visit the store in NYC never arose. BUT when my last birthday came around I thought this is my perfect opportunity to try out the cakes. I had one delivered - it was the hit of the dinner - everyone was overwhelmed by the flavor. THANKS
Went there on a Saturday night after one of our friends started raving about this place during dinner. There was a small queue as they only allow limited number of people inside. Their birthday cake is actually really good, but it was too hard, almost frozen. It was a struggle to eat it with the plastic fork. Their popular ice cream which is the one with cereal is interesting. I don’t think I am going to get it again but will return for the cake for sure
Everything tastes fake. I’ve had better boxed/packaged cookies and cake. We got the blueberry and cream cookie, the chocolate confetti cookie, the chocolate birthday cake slice, and the chocolate birthday cake shake. Awful. The blueberry cookie was sour. Everything tasted like raw flour and fake sugar. We didn’t finish any of it. A complete waste of $40. Complete rip off. Go somewhere else, this place isn’t worth the money.
Milk Bar is a large bake shop / ice cream joint that does its own signature versions of classic treats and become an iconic part of NYC’s dessert scene. it is worth a visit if you are a sweet-tooth: cookies, cakes, milkshakes, and more. and it still makes one of my favorite cakes aka the Milk Bar Birthday Cake!WARNING: NEVER ORDER any of the seasonal and/or limited flavors. they are often not very good versions of the original items that built Milk Bar’s popularity. for example, recently, got the Fried Caramel Apple Pie Snap— it was overly sweet almost inedible and the mix of flavors were just not good. it was $4.50 + tax + tip.ALWAYS ORDER the classic items like the normal Milk Bar Pie, Birthday Cake Truffles, or Cereal Milk ice cream. prices for most single-items on the menu range from $4-$7.the location is fairly large, has a good amount of seating, and has a section if you want to send Milk Bar items as gifts to friends, family, etc. definitely a good place to grab some sugary treats, get your sugar levels up, and catch your breath before heading back into the craziness of NYC.the service can be really slow especially when it is busy. nighttime is the best best if you want to avoid lines and waits.out
I was really excited to try out Milk Bar given Christina Tosis incredible reputation. Unfortunately, I was severely disappointed. The bday cake truffle tasted primarily of raw flour, and the texture was definitely more reminiscent of underbaked batter than it was a cake-and-icing blend. The PB&J milkshake had a particularly aggressive tang to it, I think from the strawberry gel they use in it. The slice of birthday cake was incredible dense yet also crumbly. The icing did have a pleasant tang to it like they had maybe used cream cheese in it, but unfortunately the texture was also very similar to cream cheese. I can only hazard a guess that the cake had been previously prepared and had been sitting in a fridge/freezer for a while given its temperature, which could also affect the texture of the cake and the icing.I would be willing to give Milk Bar one more chance, because conceptually everything should have worked. But this particular visit did not live up to any of my expectations.
As delicious as the documentary made it seem! It was such a treat to be able to try the famous pie and the cookies. Mind blowing flavours! Loved the cereal ice cream too. Everything we ate was delightful and I would absolutely recommend paying this spot a visit if you’re nearby. If I lived in NYC I know I’d be asking for these cakes for my birthday every year!
The milk bar pie was great. The cornflake cookie was soft, but over sweet and the cornflakes were more chewy than crunchy, the ice cream was.... Weird tasting.... My son said the crunchy cereal milkshake was to salty?..... I didnt try it myself, so cant say. Overall, $40 bucks for 2 cookies, 2 milkshakes, small cup of ice cream and a small slice of pie.... Not worth it.
Ordered a birthday cake to be delivered to Missouri. Cake came on time and was good. No complaints about the cake itself. But cake is nothing special. I get better cake at Costco. Im glad I tried milk bar, but wouldnt buy from them again. The only high quality cake Im willing to spend money on is from Lady M.
Milk bar is a dessert place place which is owned by MasterChef judge Christina Tosi. Always wanted to visit this place once and bumped into this place unexpectedly. This place smells cake. The lady taking orders was kind enough to ask if it was out first time and recommended a few items which are the house favorites. We had the Milky Bar pei which is is one of the better pie I have had. Its very difficult for me to like a dessert as I am not a fan of dessert, but this left me wanting more. The place has a huge tower o. Birthday cakes on display. Definitely must visit for the dessert lovers.
I see a crowd and I follow. Life as a culinary sheep takes me to some bizarre experiences. Its midnight and as cold as a new york march gets. I see a line for soft serve, average age 22yo, and only coz the uber drivers bring it up from 19. I do the Harry met Sally (ill have what shes having) and pay my $9.54. I get a cup of sweet creamy frozen stuff, that reminds me of what you get when condensed milk and snow get into a cage fight. Its pleasant enough...enough for a chain at $9.54 a small cup? Ill leave that for the kiddies to decide.
It’s not bad, but as many other reviewers have said, there are better commercially-packaged baked goods and certainly better bakeries in Manhattan. I agree with others that the flavors are very artificial. The birthday cake is slightly dry. Definitely let it come to room temp. I’m glad I tried it but won’t again.
Staff was friendly and helpful, ambiance was nothing special, the shop was almost empty when we visited.Ive been really looking forward to trying some of their cakes, went for the strawberry shortcake. Maybe because of the high expectation it was a bit of a letdown overall. The sponge was the best part, I really liked it, the fruit jelly tasted good but was a bit too sweet for me. The cream was just plain sweet (very), no flavor, decoration on the top the same but also quite hard. Also, even if you eat in you get disposable cutlery and your cake in a box.Price for a piece of cake was $10 plus tip, whic I didnt was justified.
I wasnt impressed. Never heard of this place before, but when I drove by it caught my attention and I love trying new places out. Parking was easy in the area at 8pm. There was a small line to get in. I started by ordering a latte, I was informed there are NO flavor shots, wth... ok then ordered some strawberry birthday cake, a cookie chocolate pie with marshmallows and some cookies. After I paid they didnt have any coffee, getting my money back took way too long. The sliver of cookie pie cost $8 and it was 2 bites, not worth it because it wasnt even that good. Ok at best. The cake was also mediocre, not worth the prices. Only thing kinda worth all of this was the cookies, they were freshly made.
Honestly it just wasn’t for me.My husband liked the milk cream but I hated it.I thought I would be safe with the blueberry cookie but it was verrrry undercooked. I love gooey cookies but this wasnt gooey, it just wasn’t cooked throughly .The atmosphere is awesome though and ppl watching at the window was nice.I basically loved everything except the food.
Maybe I should have picked the pie? My husband and I were passing by and he seemed really intrigued by this place so we decided to stop in. We asked the lady at the counter what she recommended and she wasn’t helpful at all, it seemed like she just wanted us to pick something and leave even though the place was empty. We decided to opt for the blueberry and cream cookie and the birthday truffles. The birthday truffles tasted like balls of sugar so I would definitely pass on that. The cookie was just OK, if you’re looking for a delicious cookie I would stop by Levain Bakery. The blueberry taste was so artificial and it was super crumbly. The cake stand was really cute!
The employees were rude and dismissive even though there wasn’t a line when we talked in. There weren’t any vegan or allergy friendly options available when I asked. I did try a cookie and it was decent. They had several unique flavors and the general concept is cool.
It was OK. The only problems are that they only have 2 ice cream flavor and I would not recommend ordering the chocolate crumbles with your ice cream as they are just brownies that resemble a texture close to dog food. Would not recommend if your looking for a good ice cream spot in NYC.
Listen. Cake is complicated. Up to now, you thought you loved cake. But you were wrong. That wasnt love. Until Milk Bar came into your life youd only been justifying toxic cake relationships. Cake co-dependency. Unfulfilling cake mediocrity. You see it so clearly now that youre with Milk Bar. Im so sorry there is a tremendous amount of sugar coursing through my veins right now and I blacked out for most of this review. Suffice to say these cakes are extraordinarily good.
I don’t care how good your product is, service is important. There is a handicapped entrance, around the corner; we had a stroller with 2 kids. But upon exiting the lift, the door to the store was locked, and the store was a still opened. We knocked, only to have the worker behind the send-a-package desk tell us to “go away”. It’s not even 8pm and the store closes at 9. Not sure why they’d have handicapped accessible entrance if it isn’t accessible. While I loved Milkbar and have ordered online many times, this definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.
We’ve been looking forward to try the world-famous Milk Bar Pie. Been saving up on calories to ‘afford’ a few bites. What a disappointment. The pie looked like it just came out of a washing machine and the flavor was galaxies away from the hype. The place was horribly maintained. Maybe other branches are better, but we’re sure not eager to give them a try. This is how a place that lost its soul to commercialism looks like. Sorry guys, but if you care and respect your own creation, not to mention your customers, you need to do much better than this.
Wanted to see the hype myself after seeing this store on every social media and chefs table. We got the signature cereal soft serve $6.5 and their milk bar pie $6. Really disappeared by how small the soft serve and the pie were compared to the pictures. Taste wise both desserts were very average and definite not worth the price.
Being from Toronto, our experience with Milk Bar is mostly tied to the Momofuku Noodle Bar. When visiting NYC, we made a point of visiting the Milk Bar flagship. I had the French toast soft serve and it was pretty incredible. For me, the cereal milk soft serve has always been where it’s at, but French toast gives it a run for its money.
I’m literally sitting at Milk right now. The flagship in NY. Came all of the way from Nashville and my kids have been so excited. Wife was too after seeing an episode on Food Network. So, just for emphasis…I’m sitting at a table inside Milk. Guess what they are out of? Yup…milk. Ummm.. WHAT????? No milkshakes, and they said they are not making any drinks because they are out of milk….and they are out of the red velvet truffles… and to top it off…they are out of napkins! We walked 20 minutes in 28 degree weather for this???? BOOOOOO!!
This is more of a tourist trap. You would never come here regularly as a local. Sorry, but Tosi is quite overrated, possibly more so than Carloss Bakery. The menu is very meh and uninspired, as are the flavors. Everything is overly sweet, and it doesnt always taste fresh given this is a chain in NYC and items arent baked on premise daily. If you dont know what a bowl of cereal, birthday cake, or a chocolate chip cookie tastes like, by all means, come and crack open your wallet for an overpriced grocery store dessert. Otherwise, heres where real New Yawkers go for a sugar high: Dominique Ansel, Levain, Lauduree, Lady M, Two Little Red Hens, Buttercup.
Milk, milk, milk. Milk. Stumbled by the flagship location, fortuitously last week and vowed to swing in this week. So I did. The location is spacious and despite the look from the the outside the line rolls through quickly. I’ve had the cake balls and ice-cream from their other location and I must say for the NYC price, I was expecting a little more. However, the experience is pretty outstanding and the place is almost the Disneyland of sweets. They have a custom cookie and cake stand where they will make both in front of your very own eyes. Back to the beginning, it is my wife’s bday, so I bought her a cake during my visit. It will be good but not sure it will be $50 good.
One of my favorite treats to have while in NYC! Love this new location! Love that this location offers make your own cakes or ship to a friend options! They have both sweet and savory treats, and a great retail space! Friendly staff makes the visit even sweeter! Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike!
What a horrible experience I had at this particular store especially on my Birthday. A few friends and myself decided to stop by to get some slices and coffees, the service was rude especially by someone with the name tag Kim she was exceptionally rude. She made it sound like 4 lattes was a chore and so nasty when I asked a question about the cakes. One of the worst Milkbar I have visited. Never again and Ill be sure to spread the wonderful visit I had at this location.
Ask for the crack pie. They’ll tell you it’s called something else now, but it’s still the original crack pie. Just a new snowflake PC name they felt was better so as not to offend the crackheads out there. You know that special and sensitive marginalized group that has advocated for so long to get the name changed…. Riiigghhtttt
Always great experience for flavor, quality and cleanliness. The staff is friendly and work very hard and fast. My go to is always the cereal milk with crunch which never disappoint. I also get cake slices to go as it’s generally buys with lots of seating but since I live 2 blocks away I’ll just enjoy from the comfort of my home
We only ordered the birthday cake truffles because of how famous they are. They were okay, nothing extraordinary. Kinda rude staff, no one looks happy. The shop is closed for dine in so you need to come in and walk out. The person behind the counter asked for a tip just for handing over a small bag of truffles, nope. This was my second milk bar experience, the other one was in Washington- the staff were just as unhappy and grumpy.
The two gentlemen working the counter were hilarious and such a pleasure to be around. The service was quick and attentive. It was my first time ever at the milk bar but I can guarantee that I will be back for that cereal milk! The overall atmosphere is nostalgic, funky, and fun. I definitely would recommend this spot for a light cheery budget friendly experience.
I came here for the Ice Cream only. It was bad Im sorry. I tried both Cereal Milk and Funnel Cake flavor. I don’t know how they made an ice cream feel warm but they achieved it with the Cereal Ice Cream. The flavors just don’t feel real or fresh. I feel like this is something you’ll only enjoy if you grew up in USA. Save your money
I went to the cake decorating class for a company outing and it was a lot of fun. Its about 3 hours but we had food and drinks catered so we didnt start until an hour in. You dont actually bake the cakes, that would take far too long for a big group, so we were given sheet cakes to cut, assemble, and decorate. We all had a lot of fun with it and the instructors, Yasmin and Lauren I believe, were very helpful and welcoming. Definitely a great idea for a large group for a party or company outing. AND you get to take your cake home along with little cake truffles that youll make as well.
Its good...a bit confusing. I am old school, so i was totally fixated on what flavor is the ice cream, so ordering was difficult. Had I looked into their menu before walking in, maybe the ordering process could have been easier. The build-a-pint was tasty, but unbelievably sweet. I shared it with 2 other people, but I could only manage about 8 spoonfuls... Now I need about a liter of water.***Edit: they have a water fountain!Seating is a problem. There is not nearly enough starting space for the volume of people here.Overall, yes Id recommend for the experience, but I probably wouldnt come back because for me once is enough.
50 dollars blown on a pint of milk soft serve that tasted like sour milk thatd been left on the counter 😬No water other than sparkling, since the water bottle refill station filter hadnt been changed and nothing was coming outThe red velvet was good, but they were prepackaged and not worth the price
Heaven on earth! At least for those with a sweet tooth. Everything here is so delicious - from the famous crack pie, to their birthday cake (or their seasonal pumpkin dulce de leche), to their salty options (loved the italian hero bomb) - everything here is worth the high price tag!
Came in for some pumpkin cake and a coffee the second day it opened. The staff was definitely still trying to get their system down, but were friendly. I didnt try one of the build-your-own activities, but they looked fun! Wasnt a huge fan of the atmosphere, at least not for grabbing a slice and a coffee to enjoy in the morning. Maybe it gets more high energy later in the day.
These places are the Pipe Pipers of the Millennials. Dont understand cake batter stuffed with some sprinkles can go for $50. Its insipid, dry & completely lacks character to say the least. A mousse cake from Financier patisserie doesnt cost this much & I believe its more time consuming to make. Little Pie Companys carrot cake is also much cheaper & tastes a lot better. As you see there are other alternatives. No need to go to this place.
Was on vacation in NYC and decided to visit the store. The fact that the indoor seating was closed was disappointing. It totally killed the vibe inside. I would expect the flagship milk bar store to be lively and vibrant. It wasn’t.The first time we went, the store was out of cake slices, which is the whole reason that I went. The second time I went, the soft serve machine was broken. Nothing should be out of stock at the flagship store. If something is broken there should be a backup. If these things do happen at the flagship store, I can’t imagine what the non flagship stores are like.
Darnell was absolutely amazing! He went above and beyond and made my first milk bar experience like no other! He was amazingly helpful, kind and sweeter than the treats there. I was impressed with how knowledgeable he was about everything. Definitely only coming back on the days he works.
I was very disappointed with the customer service of this location. I ordered a soft serve and after paying for it, waited a little to get it. They gave me my soft serve and I was just about to turn and go away when I saw the person after me order a soft serve too. The amount of soft serve they had received was literally two times of what I had gotten.I don’t like to be petty and honestly a couple of bucks for a soft serve isn’t worth much fighting for (at least to me), but I thought I should let them know that it wasn’t fair. I let the cashier know and he said, “Yes, I can see that.” I waited for him to say something like, “I’m sorry” or “Let me put some more for you”, but all I got was silence. So I started getting a little upset, but politely asked, “Can you give me some more in order to get the same amount as everyone else?” And then he finally did.No sorry. No explanations. He seemed annoyed and just handed my soft serve to me.At this point it doesn’t matter what the soft serve tastes like. His customer service ruined my appetite. All I was asking for was fair service to all customers. How are you going to charge me the same, when you give me half the amount of everyone else? And then go on to act in a way that says, “It is what it is.” Super disappointed and will not be going back.
The service is terrible. You have the ability to order ahead and have a scheduled delivery. However, my cake never showed up and didn’t arrive for my event even though I ordered two weeks ahead of time. It is poor service to blame shipping carriers when it is a perishable item and should have been overnighted.
Was very excited to try the goodies at the flag ship store in NYC what a let down. Cookies were average and cereal milk ice cream tasted very odd. Almost spoiled. Ate 3 bites then tossed it. Store didnt have that yummy smell of fresh baked sweets and tduffles were a sugar overload. 😭
I dont understand the hype about this place. The portions are small and expensive and everything is super sweet. The flavors are pretty basic. A friend and I split the milk bar pie and I liked the butter + brown sugar taste but the sweetness level was just excessive.
I was very surprised to see all the preservatives and artificial ingredients listed on the bottom of the cake. I thought I was buying something more homemade delivered. And $75 for a 6 inch cake full of artificial ingredients is too much. That might work if you live in Manhattan, but not Winchester, VA. Note: delivery was late for my daughters birthday, but I appreciate that customer service refunded our shipping charge even though it wasnt their fault. thank you for that good service.
On November 21, 2020 at 4:04 am from New York - Presbyterian Hospital from a dear friend, Dr. Andrew Moonian & colleagues, just some of the many Frontline Heroes.Thank you, Milk Bar for taking care of everything. Power of partnership, passion and community. Chef, founder, owner, and CEO of Milk Bar Christina Tosi also has #bakeclub live every Monday at 2 pm EST. 🙏🏾 [pictures below from Instagram].Sending a little joy & healing energy from your neighbours in Canada 🇨🇦🇺🇸Milk Bar offers same-day delivery, adding new cities all through 2022. 🍪✨
The security guy asked me and my friend out because she used the bathroom. the cashier refused the service. we are both fully vaccinated and yet we get this attitude. hello, nobody does this to the customers who bring them business. we realize it’s a covid and all but they might as well just close the place down if the staff is so rude. never again will we go the place and we are huge ice cream lovers. neither will our friends, believe me. the staff should learn their lesson
I needed two small cakes for an intimate wedding ceremony and Shannon was a great help in suggesting what to order and getting them delivered on time to Hasbrouck House in Stone Ridge NY. The cakes arrived in perfect condition and were delicious. I can’t wait to enjoy more Milk Bar treats in the future. Thanks again
Darnell made our night!!! We were craving the classic birthday cake all day and got to the store with 10 mins to close, but alas, they had run out of vanilla cake! We were so sad to have missed our chance, but Darnell asked if we had a few minutes to spare and cut us a fresh, GIANT piece of cake from the back. Seriously made our night and was the cherry on top of my cousin’s visit to NY! THANK YOU DARNELL, you’re a gem!!! 💎💕
Really fun place. Great unique desserts with a unique taste. Unlike make other milk bar stores you can get a slice of cake instead of having to buy a whole cake. The soft serve was yummy and the truffle cake bites were great. I recommend going with friends so you can share and try more then one thing.
DONT ORDER DELIVERY FROM MILK BAR!I ordered delivery and when I tried to cancel it (less than 30 minutes later) they refused, saying the delivery window was too short. Why was the delivery window too short? Because their website says to order well in advance of the actual date you want, due to continued carrier backlog.if you check their website it actually says, we are not responsible for delays caused by one of our shipping partners....or mistakes on the part of our shipping partners employees. And apparently, there are quite a few problems with their shipping partners! If you check the negative and hidden Yelp reviews for this company, youll see that other people have complained about negative delivery experiences.Milk Bar would not cancel my order, would not offer a refund, and appears to have fought my credit card dispute. They responded to my Yelp review asking me to get in touch with them. I did, and never received a response. I can only assume the responses are for PR purposes.Buyer beware if you order delivery!
Their cakes were decent and the staff was average, but the reason this review is one star is that their cakes are extremely overpriced for what you are paying for. A cake with a 10in diameter is $120. THAT IS OBSURD!! CEO of Milkdud if you are reading this review, your prices are way too high and they need to change. Thank you for your time
Ive been to other Milk Bar locations before, but this was my first visit to the Flagship store! So many goodies to choose from, I had to buy a little of everything! The cereal milk soft serve was delicious! Looking forward to enjoying all of my other treats! Super bummed the claw machine wasnt operating, I was really looking forward to that :/ Also would love to try Cerealsies, I didnt see any available.
The dessert was yummy the service was awful. The security guy was a drill sergeant. I totally understand needing to keep order if it’s busy but the store had less than 10 customers. He was so rude to us and reprimanded my friend for stepping over a barrier by accident. So disappointing.
Visited on opening day. It was a fun experience but left a little dissatisfied. Crack Pies, now called Milk Bar Pies, were still amazing, however the slices we received were very small. For $6, it was overpriced. My wife ordered a Build-A-Pint. This was a huge disappointment value wise. It was good, but not great. I didnt care for the cold loose cake. Toppings were nothing spectacular, but worst of all was the $15 price point. IMO it shouldnt have cost more than $10. We also ordered a few cookies, and as always, they were great.
Overrated! Definitely overpriced. The marshmallow cookie didn’t really taste like anything and the ice cream was way too sweet. The cereal milk idea sounds way better than it tastes. The cakes looked delicious but I would question the taste based on our experience so far.
Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow!!!! Nothing but positive things to say about this company. Customer service was beyond wonderful and the cakes, cookies and truffles we ordered online were out of this world. If you’ve not seen it already check out their Chef’s Table episode on Netflix I highly recommend. Going to one of their physical locations is now on my bucket list! Will be ordering again in the future :)One tip though - do not order to be delivered on a Saturday. Fedex sucks and if they cannot deliver on time it gets delayed to Monday.
I was a little disappointed. I had been wanted to visit a Milk Bad store since I saw it on a food documentary. I don’t know if it was because of COVID but there were limited options, the desserts were overpriced and the overall feel inside was kind of sad. The pie was good though
They don’t let you go to the toilet, even vaccinated. Very unfriendly staff. Asked kindly to go to the toilet and have been kicked out (!) because I am “arguing”. This is not how customers should being treated. Never again. I understand COVID needs special precautions. But customers needs to wash their hands and sometimes follow mother nature’s call. If you put everything on COVID, better close your store.Well, that’s the first time since 20 yrs I have been kicked out of a store and yes, I have to admit 20 yrs ago, I deserved it:)
I happen to stumble upon this place when looking for food. Not really a food place but a dessert/ milkshake Mecca. Ordered a milk shake and a cookie and wow just incredible quality. What really made this place special and amazing is their employees. I came here with my mother and she has difficulty speaking English and unlike most places they didn’t give her that look that we usually get. They were kind, patient and enthusiastic. Great people, great desserts and great experience.
Do you have a sweet tooth? Do you enjoy diary delights? Well, the Milk Bar is the plce to go! It is branded as a „choose-your-own-adventure space designed to feed your creativity and your sweet tooth“ and it‘s a really unique experience! They serve everything you heart and sweet tooth desire! Birthday cakes on and off-ocassion, with a great gluten-free option. Truffles, cookies, and pie are also part of the mix.Milk Bar is not just an ordinary bakery! They provide recipes, online course, and a great bake club! Along that, they also have an amazing gift shop with superb birthday presents! And Milk Bar is famous! Chef Christina Tosi is the mastermind behind the place. With her unorthodox approach in the development of the place, she soon gained fame, and is now one of the biggest celebrities in New York. The Milk Bar was featured on Netflix’s docu-series Chef’s Table. And so, the place is spreading. You can find multiple Milk Bars all over the United States and even in Toronto! For those that are not blessed with a Milk Bar in town, they provide a nation-wide shipping. Just go the website and pick whatever you would like, and you‘ll have it at your doorstep!
Completely incompetent staff... But partially due to the ol trying to do too much issue. If a late night bakery cant handle custom ice cream and cakes along with simple take out orders then just simplify the menu for off hours.Took us over 15 minutes to order one item. And this wasnt due to it being busy, just a staff that was indifferent and slow.If youre planning to go make sure you leave enough time. Its slow.
If you’re like me you heard about Milk Bar from Netflix’s chef’s table. True to the show, Milk Bar NYC Flagship is creative, indulgent and just fun.Exceptionally helpful staff and offers the full complement of inventive treats you came here for. I had the cereal milk latte and was impressed by how good it tasted. Would never be my go to drink but it isn’t supposed to be. The corn cookies were also phenomenal.
Sub-standard on all levels. The Christmas Peppermint Bark cake was dry and crumbly - definitely not worth $50. I paid $10 for shipping and the cake did not arrive on time. To top things off, Customer Service never responded to voicemail messages or emails. Do not understand how these folks stay in business. The worst customer service experience ever.
One of those cute fast casual places, without too much personality, made for yuppies. Im not being harsh, its just the vibe of the place. Lots of white and blue, and a cute little loft area or raised seating with about three tables.I came here for brunch with friends and we had the waffles, the granola and the cheddar biscuit and scrambled egg. I would definitely recommend the waffles and the cheddar biscuit. For those interested, I asked for the staff recommendation between the sweet potato cakes and the cheddar biscuit and they recommended the cheddar biscuit. The waffles come with a generous portion of mascarpone (but to be real, there is never enough mascarpone) and the cheddar biscuit comes with a spicy sauce which is delicious. The granola was a little disappointing but its a large portion. I think the same berry compote comes with both waffles and granola. We also tried the hibiscus tea (a little sour) and the mint tea (delicious!)we were seated within 15 mins of getting there. Lots of young people and younger families dining and the wait staff was good, got us the food quickly and got us carry away stuff pretty fast as well. I dont think Ill be back unfortunately, since it wasnt super memorable but its a solid option if youre in the area.
Crack pie tastes like Almond Roca candy, nothing special. Overpriced, overly sweet and sticky.Cereal milk soft serve had a slightly unpleasant sour note. Could not finish more than 3 spoonfuls. Was honestly disgusting, finished with stale corn flakes. Would not recommend.Oat milk latte. Tastes like burnt coffee. Barista did not know how to pull expresso shots correctly. Did not finish this either...
I dont get why this place is highly rated? The cookies taste like theyre made from cornmeal meant for a chicken coop which has chocolate chips thrown in them! Cake was dry, tasted like cardboard with frosting! Dear food critics Please do tell whats so special about this place?
I am so disappointed. I bought a Bday cake and cookies from the store section. The cake is very sweet and not very moist. The cookies were not a hit with my family. We were left wondering if they were made today. We also looked at the packaging to check for the preservatives we seemed to be tasting. I am very confused.
I was just here on 4/2 at 3 PM and my husband bought $45 worth of treats and a couple of shakes. We were waiting for our shakes so I sat down in an open seat. Once the shakes were done my husband and I were waiting for a cab which was a few minutes away. As we were getting ready to leave The larger set woman behind the counter with the bandana literally yelled at us to leave. She said “you need to get out”. I went up to the counter and said “I’m sorry I didn’t hear you if you said anything earlier” and she continued to yell “bye. Leave. You need to get out” in a very rude, loud and obnoxious tone. After all of that, She then said there’s a 3 people limit. I apologized and said I didn’t know but she continued to be rude and loud and kept telling us to “get out”. Unacceptable customer service. This was a terrible first experience and I will not be returning here.
Seriously the staff is so nice, especially SAL. We just got a $25 gift card as a gift, and the GC would not scan or work. The card was coming back invalid. I was seriously so embarrassed and Sal was so kind and said don’t worry about, it is on us today. I was not expecting that. Honestly, this place is SO good, but his kindness made it a little sweeter.
Waited 45 minutes just to get 8 cookies. The staff got my order wrong. Even after correcting her she still got it wrong. How hard is getting the right quantity of the right flavor cookies into a paper bag? They dont really care about customers I guess because they are always so busy.
Shakes and cake in this place are really good, would have given 5 stars but the line was ridiculously long and getting my drink after ordering was more confusing than it should have been. They need to move things along faster here it was hard to walk because of all the people standing around waiting.
Hire a barista. There’s never anyone at that station and I always have to ask someone to make it for me after I’ve ordered it.Whoever just made my coffee was tapping the espresso with their bare fingers.Friendly staff but obviously overwhelmed. You guys fixed it! You’re the best!

2022-05-28Sweets r sweet - depending on your pallet - some like it more sugary and some don’t so I don’t think the reviews should be based on how sweet or not a cake should be. The service is excellent and the staffing very friendly. Of course things were quite fancy and expensive but given the atmosphere, the service, the delicate treats, it’s a nice pairing after dinner!

2022-02-26Who doesn’t love cookies?I visited Milk cookies store near my hotel and bought some cookies back home to my family and friends. The store is big and really cute with the pink theme and a lot of cute merchandise, such as socks, notebooks, pens, etc. These can be really cute for gifts. The cookie jars got cute decoration which is perfect for gifts. There’s also the little letter station to send out love letter and postcard to the people you love. Cute~

2022-05-22Tonight they closed at 1am and there was a line outside the door until 12am. The few employees who had to take the closing did such a wonderful job, and were very kind even though it was very clear it was a long day of hard work. So just a big shoutout there first.Other than that, the ice cream was pretty good, but maybe a little more filling and sweet than I expected. Also, I got all the cookie flavors and have yet to try them, but they look incredible!

2022-02-20We tried the birthday cake, French toast soft serve and cereal soft serve. Nothing remarkable. The soft serve ice cream was equally salty and sweet with the cereal topping. The French toast soft serve is just French toast cereal on top of the soft serve even though the poster makes it look like something more. I thought it had actual French toast. I dont know. All the sweet desserts tasted the same after a while. There arent many seats. Some bar stool seating by the windows and a couple of picnic tables. At first we sat at the table right next to the door facing out but we were a bit uncomfortable with the people waiting outside to get in, staring. We moved to a big table with just two people sitting there and sat next to them. This type of dessert is not my style. Too sweet and sugary.

2022-05-04Per granddaughter it was too sweet. She was disappointed as she really wanted to like her treat. We both had the soft serve. And yes it does taste like the milk in the bottom of the cereal bowl, it was mainly sweet. DH had the red velvet cheesecake and said it was great.

2022-03-28I really wish I could write a glowing review. This was our first milk bar experience. Service was good and efficient. We have been fans of Christina Tosi and hearing about her work for years but this was our first chance to try it. We ordered the birthday cake and the crack pie. The birthday cake was super dry, and icing excessively sweet (with a hint of cream cheese - which I dislike). The crack pie was excessively sweet. My husband and I each had - couple bites of each before throwing out the rest. I’m sure it must be to some peoples taste. Maybe some of the other products were better? I can’t imagine I could return though.

2022-07-13We came for a “class” which consisted of assembling a cake and some cake pops. It was a fun way to spend a few hours of an evening, but don’t expect to learn any real baking skills or top-secret Milk Bar tips.I thought the treats were quite sweet but yummy. They say that the icing is buttercream but there are definitely hints of cream cheese in case that’s not your thing.

2021-11-20We saw the promotion of Holiday limited special - Thanksgiving Croissant on Milk Bar’s Instagram page and it was already sold out online, so we went to their flagship location to see if there’s any pastry left. The decor looks brilliant and beautiful with adorable & colorful balloons. There was no line on a weekday at noon, so we didn’t need to wait for our orders. Luckily, we got one Thanksgiving Croissant along with one Bagel Bomb & one Pepperoni Bomb which were served daily. The pastries were overall decent with satisfying fillings, especially the croissant. The flavor was exactly thanksgiving, we could taste the stuffing, jam and turkey. However, the price was kind of high compared to its portion in our opinions.

2022-05-19Cereal soft serve was good, the flavor is basic but it is a bit salty (not my favorite too much). Macchiato was quite small. Cookies are great, but these are definitely sweet desserts. Just depends on your preference. Seating area is comfortable. I like that this place closes late.
