One of the few Indian restaurants in New York that I liked. It’s not the best I’ve had in my life — but at least I return to it from time to time. The masala dosa filling is excellent although the Rosa skin could be made more crispy and seasoned better. The navrattan korma is 4/5.Kashmiri naan is excellent: a solid 5/5.Given the dearth of good Indian restaurants in Manhattan I’ve given this a marginal 5.
Great food, fair prices and a very large menu. The have South Indian and Northern Indian cuisine. Authentic dosa, Sharma and curries. This is easily a top 5 Indian restaurant in New York City 🗽 🏙 There is only seating for 18 and its in the heart of McDougal St so getting in will be hard. Service is a bit amateurish but for a casual restaurant it is acceptable. But this is starred as a favorite of mine.
Lamb Rogan Josh was well cooked and was super tasty. Both chicken zafrani and daal makhani were creamy and delicious. Good portions. Chai was a fail but Im yet to visit a Manhattan restaurant with good chai. Overall a pleasant experience and I will definitely go again.
This review is only for late night takeout, the vibe was pretty cozy for the short time I waited for my food. Got the chicken tandoori and the meat was juicy, especially the breast which was surprising. They could’ve given me another side with that meal - something about the menu they could improve
Mint masala is a small restaurant located on the Mc Douglas street near NYU main campus area. They serve Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi food. We tried the chicken, lamb biriyani and malai chicken tikka, Mysore dosa. It was great and a quick walk from W4 subway station. Weekday afternoons is one of the best times to go as it’s least crowded and food is delivered immediate. Posted images are Malai chicken tikka and chicken biriyani.
Weve been coming here regularly for the past five years and loved the food, but yesterday was a terrible experience. We reached at 8:30 PM, which is well over an hour before the closing time listed, and asked for a table for two. The host said, No more customers. No no no, all in the same breath while the person I went with, had only just asked for a table once. I was waiting outside because it was full and the restaurant is pretty small. The host recognized me waiting outside the restaurant, and also knew the person who had just asked him for a table. We left without any protest because we are not going to plead to give someone business. We were able to find a great new spot that we will be going to from now on. If they were closing earlier, he could have just said it politely instead of being rude about it, and he knows that we have been dining here for years. We understand that things happen and would have understood if there had been some sort of explanation for why they were not taking any more people, or like I said, simply been polite. Im giving two stars instead of one, because we did have better experiences before, but we did not take the train for an hour to be turned away when the restaurant has failed to adhere to the hours that they have listed.
The service, excellent. The food, pretty good. The portions, large and satisfying. While I consider myself an Asian food expert, particularly Indian food, this food is great. While multiple dishes leave something to be desired, if you are a regular person trying to find some good Indian food, this should be on the top of the list.
The food was great the second time around. My friend for the first time he likes the food. He would like to come back to try new things. Customers service four & half stars. The food came out on time. Dinner for two came out under 50 dollars in NYC. Unusual and mostly unheard of. You should go check it out if you are into Indian foods!
Mint Masala is a long time favorite restaurant in NYC. Since the time my wife and I were dating, we have gone often (almost every one to two weeks). While at times we have tried other Indian restaurants around New York City, Mint Masala has become our benchmark of comparison. The price is very reasonable for the excellent quality of food, and it tastes more comparable to authentic food served at good Indian restaurants in India. They maintain a nice atmosphere to sit and eat; and the hospitality of the staff is warm and welcoming. They are always very attentive and take care of you based on any requests. For all these reasons, we just keep coming back (even now that weve moved to NJ)!Special shout out to the Laccha paratha (mint and regular) -- its unbelievable both in its size and that it comes fresh from the traditional tandoor (brick) oven!
Placed an order via ubereats, went to pickup and restaurant didnt receive order.Owner was generous and made the order on the spot while ubereats sent a cancelation notice so restaurant didnt get paid. Offered to pay since they made the food already but they didnt take it. Generous and samosas were amazing. .
Mint Masala is an ok Indian spot. Food was decent. Ive had better Indian food. Prices are a little high for the food, but really not outrageous, and it is Manhattan. Very minimal atmosphere. It was nice that it wasnt super crowded for dinner, even though the place was small. They had a pretty good selection on the menu. If youre in need of some Indian food and come across Mint Masala, youll do fine there.
The food that Ive ordered here is good but what really stands out here is the customer service of the staff. Every interaction Ive had with the staff (both in person and delivery) has been beyond what was necessary. In some cases, I really felt their act of service, which can be quite refreshing. The naan here is also unique to what Ive experienced elsewhere. Compared to a lot of the other naan Ive had in the past, the naan here has a very fluffy and dense composition rather than the flaky almost charred composition. Still delicious but also just different.Their vegetarian samosas are great.
Excellent food I got the chicken and lamb briyani and it was amazing, some of the best I have ever had! Portion size was very big I have left over for lunch and dinner possibly. The staff was very friendly and the food came quick, I went into the kitchen and looked around, The kitchen is clean all the chefs hustle and cook up a storm! Very impressed, Ill be back many times. Yes the place is small, but what do you expect for NYC?
The food was delicious. I used to have my lunch from the nearby restaurant surya before but thought of trying some diff restaurant this time. And i am glad that my decision to change the restaurant was worth it.The quality and quantity of food were great and the servers were humble too.Liked their hospitality.I got the taste of an authentic indian food after so long.
This place has some of the best Indian food in all of the city! The service is fantastic and the food is delicious. I have been here a few times. Each time it was packed full, but people tend to move along rather quickly. There are only about 6 or 7 tables. Be prepared to wait, but it is worth it!
This place is awesome!!!!!I placed a catering order for my companys Friday Lunch and it was a HUGE hit! Ive never had so many satisfied people with so much positive feedback, as satisfying everyone is a VERY difficult task =) ! The manager was so helpful in placing the order, suggesting dishes to make sure we had a nice variety...and even threw in a few bonuses! This place will definitely be added to our rotation of regular vendors!
Really amazing place. Super nice people and great quality food. I really appreciate good customer service and huge portions and these people certainly deliver that. I have been coming here for almost a year now and I will not go anywhere else. While I was waiting for my food, they served me a cup of water which I accidentally spilt while I was waiting and they were very forgiving and even offered me a new cup of water. Dont go anywhere else for your Indian cuisine because this is the best place in NYC!!!
Great nook in the wall. The grilled chicken dosa was delicious. I liked how non-greasy it was. The sambar was what authentic south Indian sambar is like. Dunno why The other dosa place is more famous. The chicken jalfrezy though was too cardomomy. The laccha paratha to go with it was again well done and non greasy. The service is good. We find the walk to this place worth it even though we live close to curry hill. Definitely recommend.
Let me first say that the food I ordered tasted phenomenal. I took my order to-go, and everything was great until I was eating the basmati rice. I bit down on something hard, then decided to spit it out to make sure it wasnt just undercooked rice. It was a piece of glass. Im worried I might have swallowed more without knowing. I really loved the flavor of the food, and the price wasnt bad, but I can never go here again.
The food was amazing and came out in a timely manner. Theres plenty of options to choose from, so youll definitely find something youll like. Being a small place, a group of more than 4 probably isnt recommended. The only negative I have about this place is that I had to pack my own leftovers. Ive been to countless restaurants in my life and Ive never had to do that. I found it a bit strange...
Mint Masala is my favorite Indian restaurant in the city. The food is SO good and such great value for the price. The chicken tikka masala is incredible .. with the garlic naan - my mouth is salivating! The staff is also so friendly, helpful, and takes their time to provide great customer service.
This place was great. While we were in there we heard a man say that this was the best Indian food in the city, and while I don’t know if that’s true it was very good. The mango lassi was filled to the brim and didn’t have any ice in it and the samosas were flaky and wonderful.
The food is soooooo good. 19/10. The service was a little slow, and the place is very small and narrow. But I must reiterate that the food was incredible. The small space makes it so that youre right up next to other guests, witch feels like youre essentially sharing a table. Reasonable prices, and friendly staff.
Dont be fooled by the tiny and simple appearance of this place. One day we randomly walked in to Mitch Masala before going to the Comedy Cellar, and since then we have come to eat here all the way from Brooklyn, every time we have a visitor or whenever we crave Indian food! They have food with such amazing flavor, and the atmosphere is great and always friendly! Love their rosemary naan!
Im writing this review sitting on the toilet ... Ordered a dosa and it arrived soggy n limp and not crispy as it is supposed to. The potato mash inside had about 4 times the black pepper which has burnt my mouth, gut & is burning on its way out. The Rasmalai dessert was excellent. I wanted to order non vegetarian but noticed that it was Halal which means the animal was slowly tortured to death by slitting its throat and had a lingering painful death. Only Moslem eat that kind of meat and not MOST Indians. They didnt have non halal options. Paid $20 for getting an upset tummy. Sorry! Not going back. Id rather try the Kathi roll place a few doors up.
The best Indian restaurant in the city. I tried many Indian cuisines and this place won the prize. The food is delicious and the staff is super friendly. Lamb biryani, mango lassi are among my favorites but everything else is as yummy. I recommend it to my friends and definitely will be back myself. Thank you for the wonderful experience and food!
While the appetizers were pretty good, the main course was completely terrible. If you want try chicken tikka tomato soup, this is definitely the place to do so! The malai kofta was WAY too sweet. And to top it all off, the food left everyone in our party with major indigestion.
Went here with my elementary school kid on a weeknight around 6 PM. Was busy but no wait. We had biryani. Delicious! Kheema Naan was even better. And my kid loved mango lassi, of course. We had plenty of leftovers, between the two of us. The place is not the fanciest but clean and comfortable. The staff was super-friendly, professional, prompt and sweet to my kid too. Very satisfying.
So I’m less than a mile from this place and the refused to deliver and gave me no options for getting their food delivered. You’d think in covid people would want business but the person I spoke with hung up on me.It was for a food review. Interesting business practice.
I thought I had exhaustively researched which Indian restaurant to patronize on my last night in New York to ensure it would be a consensus-driven selection. This was hugely disappointing. Five dry, tough, flavorless chunks of chicken swimming in a bland tikka masala gravy (which I asked for medium). Soggy naan and utterly flavorless onion bagji. Wish I could have another shot at choosing a better restaurant
I live 10 minutes away from the place. I ordered delivery from this place and the guy told me it will get here in 45 minutes max. It got here in 1 hour and 45 minutes! I called the restaurant three times and they did not know what was happening. Two days ago I also ordered food. It was the same story. Guy told me it should get here in 45 minutes but it got here in one hour and 10 minutes.

2022-08-18Very delicious Indian food. I’ve tried to order something new every single time and I’ve never been disappointed here. The quality of everything is very consistent which isn’t always guaranteed at any restaurant. On one occasion I went in for their lunch special and I got a good amount of food for a very good price. I almost always order delivery and the food travels very well and arrives at my door pretty quickly.

2022-08-31Absolutely amazing food. The meat is so well cooked and tender. Seasoning was right on point. The Naan is thin but very soft. Small place inside so can get pretty busy/not ideal for larger parties.

2021-07-05This is place to relish best authentic Indian food.Veg thali offered here is so good and best thing is they give options to choose your sabjis. Mine plate came with Chana masala and I opted for navratan Korma and both tasted yummy. Ask for fresh lemonade it will be great. Wrap the meal with ras malai. I was impressed with quality, quantity and hospitality of this place.

2022-08-25Excellent attentive service, and more importantly tasty freshly prepared food at a fair price. Small dining area, not much ambience, but the food and staff make up for that. Highly recommended

2017-04-01Really enjoyed eating there with my friends. Food was decently priced, service was great, food arrived really quick. They had a dish called vindaloo sauce which made my friend and I happy as we enjoyed spicy food but ordered everything mild for our other friends who dont. Add the vindaloo sauce and it kicks it up a notch....Or two
