Had a Ramen bowl was really good. Staff was great and friendly and gave recommendations. Me and my friends went there hoping to be able to stay awhile playing games but, it seemed several game where broken or blocked by tables. I remember going to this place around when first opened was a great concept old school games. Just seems they need continue to fix the games and replace parts that get used all the time.
First, let me say I am both happy and sad I did not take pictures. I would have loved to have captured last nights amazing date night with my super sweet and awesome boyfriend. But I was so thrown back on how freaking cool this place looked and the chill vibes. The last thing I was thinking about was my phone. This place is my new favorite spot hands down. I mean from the cool retro arcade games, the live DJ spinning all the dope 90s music with the coolest and very knowledgeable bartender (Will 😎). He definitely made our first visit very comfortable and was very helpful with first asking us what kind of drink do we enjoy then offered the favorites off the menu. The food and drink selections were great. I had the Sweet Chill Shrimp fried rice bowl.... OMG!! This dish was PERFECTION to the last bite. My boyfriend had the Chicken Katsu... WAS JUST ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. We had such a great time with the food being spot on and so flavorful to the nice tasteful (not so watered down) drink. WHAT A NIGHT😜🤪😝😋🥳. We had such a amazing experience and can not wait to come back.. Definitely Recommend! You wont be disappointed. Make sure you buy a round for the kitchen... WELL DESERVED!!
I used to love this place. However, the past couple times I’ve ordered takeout, the food is raw and inedible. It’s a fried rice bowl, yet clearly the rice has never been fried. The onions and peppers are raw. The egg, which is supposed to be poached, is instead in chunks of what looks like an over-cooked hard boiled egg. Thought the first time was a fluke, apparently not. Won’t be wasting my money here again until they fix that. So disappointing. I have never left a negative review before but I think people should be warned!
It is hard to describe how remarkable this bar is. After a year of hearing about this bar from the owner. It was nothing short of amazing to finally see it in person. Every detail is well thought out. And it seemed like you could spend days there and still see something new.
Food was amazing, the chefs deserve a raise for sure. they kept conversations going with us while we waited for our food and treated us very well. my problem was that our server (tall male with an ugly mullet that i never got the name off) continued to grab and touch me and my friend from the time we sat down till the time we left. he would grab my shoulder, touch my butt when we walked by, leaned shoulder to shoulder on my friend, the list goes on. and he was also taking shots behind the bar with other hostess and we could smell the liquor off of him. i would recommend going there for the food but not the service.
Went with friends in a big group for a bachelorette party and had a great time! We had no problem with our reservation and enjoyed our pride shots, too! The spicy shrimp fried rice bowl was delicious — the shrimp was much bigger than I expected though I will say the portion seemed pretty small for an $18 meal. Still, this place has a fun, colorful vibe and I’d totally come back if I was in the area.
Went there for karaoke waited about 40 minutes to get up on stage seems like they take care of the regulars first as soon as we walked in the door the door person says I hope youre not trying to get food and I also had to pay $22 for two drinks and they didnt even have what we ordered I put money in one of the games never got to play it it didnt want to work the place looks cool but not recommended also the DJ likes to grab the microphone and jump in on your song its karaoke for the customers not for the employees that was very rude if you ask me that completely ruined my video of me singing and my night sorry but not sorry
Very disappointed. My husband and I so rarely get to go out. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:55 and were told it would be 30-40 mins for a table. We waited patiently, ordered a drink from the bar and were seated in a timely manor. We ordered our food right at 6:30. An hour later and still no food. Not even our appetizer. I approached the waitress who had not even been back to refresh drinks, and kindly asked how much longer it would be for our food, as we had a babysitter and had to get back to our child. She told me she was going to check and be right over. After 10 mins, she still didnt return so we got up and left. I told the owner what happened on the way out and all she said was Im sorry. We were offered nothing. Misuta Chows-1 Date Night-0
When I called to make a 5:30 reservation for a large party of 15, I was asked if we had plans specifically to see a show afterwards. I mentioned we wanted to go see a comedy show at 7pm, not thinking anything of it. Big mistake, if you do have plans and they ask, DO NOT mention the start time or youll need to cut your dinner short. When we arrived for our reservation, everybody was great, service was great, food was delicious. However, as we got up to leave at 7:05, I was rudely told that we were expected to leave at 6:45 and asked to not provide an out time going forward if we werent going to stick to it, as now their other reservations were backed up.Now, I was never under the impression that we were expected to leave at 6:45, and they never confirmed the out time with me. I even told them beforehand that it was ok if we were late for the show, trying to be understanding of the restaurant and knowing the time it would take for a party of 15 to receive and enjoy our food.Rudely accusing me of delaying others reservations because we stayed an extra 20 minutes after they expected us to leave, without communicating that to me, is not the way Id like to be treated as a customer especially after bringing 15 people with me to their restaurant.I definitely will not be coming in again any time soon.
The vibes at Misuta Chows are always immaculate! I keep coming back for the fun atmosphere, good food, and great drinks. The arcade-style bar mixed with traditional Japanese decor and neon lights is amazing! And you can’t miss the infamous pink steps in the back. You can’t go to Misuta Chows and NOT take a photo there! For food, my favorite is the chicken ramen (I get it spicy). Mg favorite drink is the Hello Kitty, which is a sweet rum-based drink that is pink with sparkles.
Good food, good atmosphere.Ive been twice but both times the Karaage chicken ricebowl was worth the disastrous parking situation of downtown Buffalo on a Saturday.Got the high score in pinball and for a party of 3 for food and drinks it barely scraps to 100$. Only negative, no on site atm. You have a coin operated arcade upstairs with no atm next to the coin exchange machine.Other than that, very good.
In and out of Buffalo on business and Ive hit this place twice. I intend to keep going back. First time had the Sichuan Peanut Crunch Salad with Chicken and loved it. Chicken thigh not breast which tastes much better. Second time had the Hanzlians Ramen which was equally good. Love the atmosphere and even though I dont fit in, Im probably 40 years older than the rest of their customers, didnt feel out of place. Welcoming to LGBTQ+ and old, deaf, guys. haha
Great food. We got the chicken katsu and karaage chicken bowl. The chicken katsu was delicious and was fried perfectly. The karaage bowl was delicious as well but it is a little spicy just be prepared. The beer and drink selection was also very nice and I saw they had the iron maiden beer there too.Although we are a bit old for selfies we also had fun taking some pictures in the pink staircase room.
After months of working across the street and being broke, an unfortunate circumstance (turned happy ending) left me stranded downtown, with hunger growing. I decided to take the little extra money I had and treat myself to dinner. Now I cant stop thinking about my tofu rice bowl. My mouth hasnt stopped watering. I want to eat it everyday.I think I just developed a new addiction.
Made a reservation for ten a month in advance for a birthday. Showed up early tonight and was just flat out told that they didnt have it in the books. Nobody was really willing to help in any way and it was obvious they didnt have the room for the group, so we left. This was my first time here, not a great impression.
Definitely a cool place to check out if you are in town! The downstairs is a bar/restaurant (they also have some outdoor tables) and the upstairs is an arcade. Call ahead if you want to reserve one of the gaming pods. We ordered a few of their drinks and got mochi for dessert.
I was skeptical about checking out this place, from the pictures it looked really small and just another tacky buffalo bar. I was wrong, it felt like I was in a bar in LA. The music was great I believe it was all 80s as is the theme of the place. Had a drink at the bar on the second floor it was fairly busy. The bartenders did a great job at noticing new patrons and received a drink and food menu almost immediately, they were very friendly and it didnt feel like most buffalo joints with miserable people only serving their friends. Cocktails were very good and average price for the quality of the drink and bar overall. The atmosphere and decor is what really made me feel like I was back in LA. On the first floor is the bigger of the two bars, lounge seating in the front, lots of tables, and counter top seating where the kitchen is. There are two sets or stairs in the front when you first walk in and then the infamous pink stairs all the way in the back. On the second floor is another bar, decent seating and a few tables and then all the arcade games, I did not try any out but will be back for that and to try the food. Overall this is s great addition to buffalo, I hope it sticks around and more bar owners take notice and step their game up...as the bar has been raised.
This bar has a really cool look to it. The Japanese theme mixed with the nerdiness is really fun. They have a photo booth at the back and arcade machines that you pay for with quarters. The cocktails were really good. The food was all right I wouldn’t rush back for it. Highly suggest going here if you’re coming to Buffalo
Went here for lunch with my family of 3 yesterday. We could not find a parking lot, so we paid for street parking. Atmosphere was spot on and we all enjoyed the ambiance. Floor one was like an alleyway, so tables were close and most could only sit 2-6 people. You could also eat at the counter and watch the cook, which was neat. May be difficult for a wheelchair user to get around, however, or feel cramped if at full capacity. It wasnt too busy being lunch time, but there was only one cook on which meant waiting about 45 minutes for our food which is why I deducted a star. The wait staff was attentive and courteous and was apologetic over the wait. The food was great, flavorful and tasty, although wish the portions were a little bigger. A lot of it was spicy and not listed as such which might be a problem for some people. After lunch, we checked out the games upstairs. My daughter loved the pink stairwell and pony chandelier. There is also stairwell in the front with a gigantic Godzilla mural. Not sure if there is an elevator for those with mobility aids. Floor 2 is another bar and mostly retro cabinet games, think Street Fighter and Punch Out, with a row of 90s pinball machines. One pinball machine (Aerosmith) took our money but seemed to be malfunctioning (we never got a ball to play and there was no one upstairs to complain to). There was also 2 skee ball machines and a fun house mirror. The ceiling has a cool neon light mural. Games were anywhere between 50 cents to $2 to play. There is a 3rd floor of some balcony where smoking was allowed, but we did not go see it. Overall, it was fun atmosphere, family friendly enough in the day time to bring out of town vistors, and the food seemed authentic and definitely was appetizing. Would be interested to see it at night, but not sure I liked it enough to be a repeat visitor.
Edit: apparently they blocked me because of my unfavorable review. Really proving my point... I should also point out that in their response they decided being called out on cultural appropriation and gentrification was online bullying. And imagine mansplaining Asian food to an Asian woman.... During Asian heritage month. Please support local Asian-owned Asian businesses instead.Original review:The atmosphere was really cool and the arcade upstairs was neat. The food seemed interesting.... But its a pity that they somehow sold out of half the menu an hour after opening on a Sunday evening. I was extremely disappointed to learn that literally every dish that I had been interested in ordering wouldnt be available to order. So my partner and I had to scramble to pick something else. What we ended up getting was.... Alright. I had the hanzlian ramen and the sausage they had was really good. But otherwise it was just... Alright. Kind of just meh and definitely overpriced for what it was. Wed also ordered a dish that came with kimchi and it was literally just slightly spicy coleslaw. Maybe they tried to use gochujang or something but absolutely no kimchi flavor came through. So, their restaurant description says they offer Japanese street food. But their menu is trying to be Asian fusion. I like both, so I was excited to try this place. And when I see Asian fusion, I expect Asian flavors. However, Misuta Chows Asian fusion really ended up just being overpriced, very clearly appropriated attempts at Asian food. Rather than the mixing of great flavors and inspirations, what they have is just the suggestion of Asianness. It is such blatant appropriation and gentrification that as an Asian person (who frankly loves fusion cuisine), Im actually kind of offended.Normally, none of this warrants a one star. But go ahead and look for negative reviews, and see how they respond. Not only do they excuse any criticisms about service and are they totally unprofessional about criticism towards the food, but theyre so damn pretentious and oblivious about it that it makes it clear that Misuta Chows is not an attempt to celebrate great street food or fusion food... Its a cash grab.
Absolutely terrible service, Absolutely terrible food... two of us got the ramen, she got the veggie, I got the chicken, and asked for it to be spicy... both ramen dishes were bland beyond description, and the noodles contained within were straight out of the stuff u buy at the supermarket at for 10 for a dollar... sad, Absolutely sad... the feel of the place was amazing, but after the terrible service, bland as hell ramen... hard pass.. dont wast your time with mitsuta chows chows, go elsewhere at all costs!!!
Very unique energetic place. All the food is reasonable priced, I would suggest sharing a bunch of appetizers. This way you get a good sampling of everything M. Chows offers. They have a nice selection of drinks, the most popular one is the Hello Kitty which has glitter in. Also, there is a parking lot adjacent to the building for $6. There is only one meter you have to pay at, so there may be a line & you need to know your license plate number. Enjoy!
Noel was a great waitress! This place is such a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend checking it out. Ive posted a bunch of pictures, but you have to see this place for yourself. Dowstairs is set up like a Japanese street, and the upstairs is a legit arcade with a bar. Fun place to come hang out with friends or take a date.
Chows has become almost a tradition for our household. Birthdays, family visits, bachelor parties, whatever the case these wonderful people deliver! Even with covid still in its heat, they still are making some of the most amazing food Ive had the pleasure of tasting (like their karage chicken rice bowl or their new ramen chicken wings!!!) Ive been a chef for about a decade and no matter what Ive had here, from simple to complex, or sweet to booze-tastic it always sets a new standard for me and my taste buds!
When we first tried this place pre-pandemic I was blown away. The food was fresh, new, and delicious. The drinks were very good and made by interesting bartenders with excellent conversation skills. Tonight was a huge let down. The service was slow and uninspired. Drinks were ever late and lacked the old flair. The food was soggy where it used to be crispy, bready where it used to be light, and frozen stiff when it should have been chewy and sticky. Live music was more distracting than entertaining. Every course was more disappointing than the last. We never even bothered going upstairs. 2 stars because of the past and the potential.Edit: 1 star for the reply dripping with sarcasm and for using the pandemic as an excuse.
This venue is a little cramped but it is cozy and quaint. There is an upstairs with classic arcade games. The food was good and the atmosphere was fun and relaxed. It wasnt too crazy like lots of bar restaurants can be. I had the Karaage Chicken which is described on the menu as marinated chicken fried crispy & served with cucumber tofu ranch. As an extremely picky eater who isnt too fond of Asian cuisine (or trying new foods for that matter) I found this dish to be very delicious. For those people experimenting with new cuisine and I would wholeheartedly recommend this dish. We had some fun taking pictures in the back pink stairwell while waiting for a table and they texted us when our seats were ready. We were seated at the bar that is in front of the kitchen area so the chefs were right in front of us. I think it would have been a cooler experience if the bar was a little lower so we could see the cooking better (more like hibachi grill) bit otherwise it was great. I ate half of my meal before I remembered to take a picture so thats why the plate looks half empty. If you try this I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Sat at the bar most recently and bartender was good but our food took 50 minutes to come out after ordering. The place was not busy so the wait was extreme. Food was good but we missed our show at Sheas because we had to wait so long for our food. Also, wait staff were doing shots (and not practicing good social distancing) right next to us. Previous times we ate here (before COVID) were good and the arcade was a lot of fun. Dont think well be back again though.
Brought in a guest from out of town, the waitress completely ignored us for 15 minutes after we said we were ready to eat, all the food was horrible, and one plate we specifically asked if it was spicy, the waiter that had a horrible attitude said it wasn’t, and of course it was extremely spicy. It was a HORRIBLE experience. Would not recommend. On top of bad food and service it was very overpriced.
Enter Misuta Chows, Buffalos first barcade that also doubles as a Japanese restaurant. Its in the style of a 80s Tokyo sidebar. Expect plenty of Japanese beer, whiskey, cocktails, and arcade games. Theres nothing like it in Buffalo and the attention to detail in this place is top notch!
Incredibly helpful with Celiac adjustments for food! They label some items as gluten free that go in a shared fryer (which isnt gluten free for those with the autoimmune disease) however a simple convo with your server and theyll let you know which items are safe! The staff is seriously amazing! If they had a second fryer that was for gluten free items only, Id be in trouble because Id go far too often. Everything is delicious.
Awesome bar at downtown Buffalo! They have a great selections of cocktails and craft beer. Fun place to hangout on a Saturday night with group of friend. Second floor is the arcade floor, with old school arcade games which still uses coins (50cents a game). At the end of the arcade there is the famous pink stairs and a photo booth. Amazing place!!!
The food is great, go there for the food. If you get a table expect people to be standing around it (literally other people’s butts next to you) because of the over crowded bar spilling over in the dinning area. It gets pretty loud in there so if you want to enjoy yourself and the people your with go early to avoid the crowd. Difficult to get drinks at the bar unless you stake out a spot and stay there all night or have a table. Wait staff always seemed stressed and apologetic. The games, a lot of them have something wrong with them, you play at your own risk. They don’t throw up “out of order signs” & you won’t get you money back. Tried going there a lot before the quarantine, not going back now that they’re back open. Just not worth it. We do miss the food, might try take-out. The 3 stars are for the food only.
Took my sister her for her birthday. Food was good and service was excellent. Actually, service was beyond excellent. However I am disappointed in my trip overall. The menu has been paired way way back. I liked coming here for authentic Japanese street food, and the menu was really just appetizers and ramen. I ordered a ramen and it was very tasty with quality ingredients. It just wasnt what I was coming here for.Additionally, it was a Wednesday, which apparently is pub quiz night and most of the arcade was shut down. That was very very disappointing, as the games were the other reason I picked this as a birthday treat. As a bar-cade, didnt think I needed to check the website to see what days the arcade was open. So I checked the website afterwards, and it says arcade is open 7 days a week until midnight, but it also says that the arcade is closed on Wednesdays from 7-10. Thats a little contradictory.Overall, just disappointed that her birthday didnt work out like I planned.
After visiting for the first time, the Ramen wasnt your typical Japanese Ramen but that isnt a bad thing! It had its own unique flavor that was delicious and the ingredients are locally sourced from other local businesses. Johnny Chow himself made our food! The atmosphere is really enjoyable and they have a really cool arcade upstairs. Its definitely a cool hangout spot
The restaurant was 45 minutes behind on reservations. Our party was then seated and split between two tables. The other table’s waitress refused to do separate checks, while our waitress allowed it. The other table’s food order came out 40 minutes after ours. One couple requested an off menu drink (dirty martini) and was told that “this isn’t a martini bar”. The owner apologized, unprofessionally blamed the kitchen, and offered $6 off coupons for the next time we visit as compensation. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.
I’ve been here 3-4 times and feel comfortable giving 3 stars. The aesthetic and food is the saving grace for this spot. The decor is great and the setup works pretty well. The food is on point and reasonably priced. I like the games they have for the most part but ski-ball is always broken. My biggest complaint here is the service. I have never had a good experience with a bartender or a server. Last night was not at all busy for a snowy Saturday in buffalo, yet the bartenders would rather talk and dance than serve customers. The main bar seemed to have a very inexperienced bartender/bar back team. One upstairs bartender, a large unkempt looking guy, was doing a weird dance trying to get a female patron to put a dollar in his waist band. There were several people waiting to order drinks that were clearly unamused. We keep coming back hoping it improves but are constantly disappointed. I have family coming next week that I was hoping to bring here but I think we will find somewhere else after last nights let down.
Made a reservation days in advance which they called to confirm twice. They couldn’t seat us when we arrived because we had to wait for people to vacate tables. Ended up being sat close to 45 minutes after our reservation time. And it wasn’t even one large table. We were at two tables next to each other. One waitress refused to split the bill for her table while the other did split it but still got everyone’s food mixed up. One table finished their meals and paid the bill before the other had even been served. No one was impressed with the food. Waitresses disappeared for 20 minutes at a time. The second star is for the pink staircase, which was dirty.
Clean enviroment.friendly staffCANT GET ENOUGH OF THE FOOD!!!! They are currently renting arcade pods $10 an hour now thats a deal! Bartenders are always a good time and they welcome anyone and everyone.Inside is decorated adorbs! Fun atmosphere!!! They are also doing take out! EAT THE BAO BUNS!!! Stay for the FUN BUCKETS!!!😍😍😍😍😍
I wouldnt support this business. We were upstairs in the arcade enjoying ourselves when all of the sudden Mike (I later learned was his name) came over to us and started yelling out of nowhere that we had to leave immediately because we didnt have some sort of weird sticker saying I got vaccinated. I calmly tried to explain that we left our masks downstairs and he couldnt even hear me through his yelling. As we walked down to get our masks at our table, he actually yelled at us there are other bars, word for word. Definitely not someone who should be working in the hospitality industry. I really wouldnt support any business that discrimantes based on an individuals choice of if and when theyd like to be vaccinated. Deeply disturbing to be discrimating in a way like this when they seem to like to make it look like they are accepting of all. I am a frequent customer of most of the popular restaurants and bars in Buffalo and never encountered anything like this discrimination at any of the other places. The rest of the serving staff were very friendly but the service was quite slow. The food is actually good and the atmosphere is actually neat, if only they didnt have odd, discriminatory practices and fired their staff that are rude and disrespectful to their own paying customers.Edit: Just noticed there are other reviews mentioning the same issue, with the same guy, Mike. Youd think management would get the hint to let him go, but then again hes only enforcing their odd, discriminatory policies, albeit rude and disrespectfully.
Its a very nice space! I had the meatballs and they were really good. The place is two different floors the first floor being the bar and restaurants and I guess theres a arcade and dance floor up in the second floor. I cant be so sure about that because there is no elevator so people with disabilities will have to stay downstairs in the first floor. But the food is good so thats a plus.
The food was beautifully prepared for us and my pretzel bun craving was for sure satisfied! Everything was fresh and hot, and hit the spot for us both. As we were enjoying our time, the manager walked over to us and offered to refresh our beverages and offered anything else we would like. He was very pleasant and made us feel so welcome in the lobby even though they were closing in an hour!
Really cool place. Bar downstairs and bar upstairs so plenty of places to have a drink. Seating on main level with the arcade up top. Awesome music, great atmosphere. Modern and chic. Not pretentious as most of these scene bars are. Decent drink selection. Food looks good. I heard great things about the ramen burrito. Will definitely be back here again. Its so nice to see old school arcade machines again.
I didnt do the game room but stayed at the bar. This place had a nice feel to it, I believe the bartender who took care of me was Liam, and he was good, made me feel comfortable there. I tried the food and it was different, but tasted very good. By different, I mean not the usual fare. Ill definitely be back.
Oh my goodness. Amazing food! Even when they were in the weeds we were sat within 15min, got our drinks, our starter and our entree within 30min. Amazing. The kitchen is on top of it, well organized. They have skee ball!!! Amazing food, amazing drinks, great atmosphere. Make a reservation!!! You could wait for a spot. Its absolutely worth it if you do.
This place is interesting. Food is very tasty, and quite unique to my knowledge. Creative dishes that will delight you. Wait staff is friendly, cooks are also very friendly if you get a chance to talk to them at the counter area. Good atmosphere. Their bars stock Genesee cream ale if youre into that. Will definitely return again, and finish ordering everything on the menu.
Just tried this place for the 1st time. I was not disappointed. The staff is friendly and food was good. We took pictures in the famous pink room, then went upstairs to the retro arcade. We had a great time and will definitely return. My only criticism is that the bathrooms were not clean and there are only single restrooms so a line could form quick. All in all a great experience and we will be back!
Ordered the chicken ramen and miso soup. Pretty sure the miso soup was made from an instant mix. Ramen broth was completely flavorless, so probably also made from an instant mix. My delivery driver contacted me to tell me that they didn’t have my drink and said that they were rude to him when he picked it up. Can’t honestly believe how poor the quality of my food was.
I walked in cold not knowing a ton about the quality. The service was great. She was there enough but not too much and gave us time to make our minds up. A warning to people that are not into spicy food, the vegetarian dishes we had were to much for my wife. We ordered a few things and everything was great(for my least). I am a vegetarian so most times I find a new restaurant its one thing or two on the menu and they are so so. Here that was not the case. Many choices and easy to find. A great birthday dinner and will be coming back
Fair beer selection, an approachable cocktail list and a bunch of rad vintage games upstairs. kitchen had unfortunately closed when we arrived (in fairness at quite an early hour after midnight). while I wasnt disappointed by the experience at the bar, it was probably the least memorable of the day, perhaps the food would have changed that.
Nice Atmosphere and decorations. It is easy to tell the bar from the seated eating, so customers can easily navigate where they want to be. I tried a sushi roll and shishito peppers. Food was the best I have tasted and there customer service was also great. My friend and I got the wrong sushi rolls at first, but they gave us the rights ones without charging us for the wrong ones. A mistake that didnt bother me because I didnt notice and the sushi roll was still great. The fact that they did cover it showed integrity. Looking forward to going back again.
WOW! This a MUST !! Place is amazing !!! They have a wide sekectios of bar drinks and food! The video arcade was a blast so many great games from the 1980s to choose from!! You dont wait long for drinks they have several bar tender s working. They did a great job planning a tremendous night venue!
Tried a couple of apps that were pretty good, not mind blowing. Also had a Hello Kitty drink that was cute but kind of meh in taste. Taking a few stars off because I was excited to check out the arcade but all the games are upstairs and there is no elevator. Wish they would have done half restaurant/half arcade on each floor so wheelchair users could enjoy the full experience too. Also there is an ADA bathroom but it was closed off because they had just painted it. That kind of maintenance work should be done in off hours.
Misuta Chows has an atmosphere thats really like no other in Buffalo. However, it can be a bit hard to enjoy when theres karaoke playing in a smaller area. The drinks fit perfectly with the theme, Im not sure how the food is because the kitchen was closed when I was there. Despite all the noise, it was a good time.
Went for some late night drinks. Great beers on tap or available by can/bottle, real wide array of stuff, some Ive never seen. Didnt order any food so I cant speak to that. Upstairs they have a bunch of arcade games, which are fun to do for a while(although we went on a summer night and it had to be close to 100 degrees upstairs so we werent up there long, idk if they dont have ac up there or it just happened to be broken). Thus place is trendy af with a good night life vibe.
I’m sad to have to write this review because I’ve been here a few times and haven’t had a bad experience until my last visit. Last night myself and 5 others stopped in to celebrate a birthday. Within a few minutes of being there a very intoxicated person at the bar was rude to our group. The same person was friends with the bartender and the staff. The bar tender rudely took a drink order and pushed us away. The same drunk person started to verbally harass our group again and the staff asked my group to leave. After we just purchased drinks for 6 people. I’ve never been mistreated like this at a bar. I’ll never come back and can’t believe management would treat paying customers like this because they were friends with someone who had too much to drink.
Husband said the wings are a 10, the katsu onigarazu was excellent, the salmon sushi was great, and everyone pretty much cleared their plate. The arcade upstairs was a good time, too. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was great. Definitely going to visit again.
The hype around this place is high but the food doesnt deliver. the food was ok. The decor was better. there is a decent group of arcade games upstairs that are all at least 50 cents to play. A bit steep for a place whose prices are a bit high already. Overall it was an ok experience. Sadly there are better places to go for this type of food.
Food and restaurant are great. If you are just coming for the drinks and classic arcade games you will be disappointed. All games are $0.50 so you have to have small bills to get quarters from the change machine. They also only have about 10 games. Its also a super small space so everyone is bumping into each other al the time.
If you love eating amazing food, come here! If you enjoy specialty cocktails, come here! If you like music and arcade games and an overall cool vibe, come here!Misuta Chows brings it all together to form one of the best restaurants in Buffalo. Excellent service, great drinks, food that gets better with every bite, well-run kitchen, and an ambiance and decor that Marshawn Beast Mode Lynch would marvel at, Misuta Chows is the place to go for any occasion.
I came here at 12pm on a Thursday. The Shio Ramen was incredible and the pork belly it came with was coocked to perfection. The server was attentive and helpful, and the drinks were reasonably priced. The arcade is on the smaller side, but the cabinets are mostly priced between 50 cents and one dollar, which is fair for what they offer. I will absolutely be returning.
Very cramped. The patrons tend to not make room for others to eat once they’re done eating. A lot of hanging on the games but not playing people too. Once I did play the games some were broken ie ninja turtles. The concept is great. The crowd needs to make some room for paying customers and stop nursing the same drink for an hour at the bar so I can eat. Unfortunately I won’t return due to the patrons. Sorry guys.
After an Iron Maiden concert Tuesday night, I was told there was a party at this Japanese themed bar. So, I decided to check it out. It was decorated tastefully. However, there was maybe 10 people inside..not much of a party..the choices of drinks were mainly Japanese, which I found ridiculous in BUFFALO NY.The owner, as I found out was in a band. I thought that may have been cool, but, he was a poser...he was behind the bar, drinking, and coaching his bartender that he should learn how to make friends due to his lack of personality. However, the owner himself, as I quickly found out, lacks personality himself! He is an irrational hot head, who has no self control, nor professional business sense.
Welcome to Buffalos barcade! An eighties Tokyo themed bar and arcade. Its a two story bar with a small outside seating area on Main street. They have a wide selection of beers and cocktails, plenty of sake too! All arcade games are fifty cents each. They have a change machine at the back. The night we were there they had a house magician entertaining people.
This is the coolest place I know of in Buffalo. Full stop. This place has drinks, 80s arcade games, and style for miles that dazzles the senses. The dining area area reminds me of the a fight scene from Big Trouble in Little China. Some John Carpenter music wouldnt be out of the ordinary for this place. This place is going to be around for a very long time.
I always love coming to Chows! Everything is always excellent. They always have a wonderful staff, it is such a fun place to hang out. Last night in particular, I had the pleasure of meeting the bartender, Michael, and he is incredible. Makes you feel so welcome and appreciated as soon as he meets you. He is definitely in the right career field, he is amazing with people. Thank you Chows for the constant good hangs!
This was my second time here and it only gets better ! This time I was with my daughter and her friend who just returned from a few years of living in Asia including Japan/and Tokyo and she too said this is the best food she has eaten other than Tokyo and Kyoto. I had a shrimp tempura with fried rice while the others enjoyed their Shiso Ramen and Udon dishes. Everything was delicious !! I especially liked the flavor of the. ENTER/BLACK Sake We did have a chance to talk with Johnny the owner and he gave us the lowdown on the decor and menu. A great time was had by all.
I ordered the Udon however the broth had no salt in it. Either they forgot to add it or they expect you to season it yourself. They gave me an assortment of salts and after it was adequately seasoned I enjoyed the flavor. There were only 3 small cubes of pork shoulder in the dish. I never expect a lot of meat in a noodle dish but they gave me under an ounce. I enjoyed the ambiance and the service was good and the kitchen was clean and presentable. I always love ramen shops and even though it wasnt seasoned and I didnt get enough meat I would go back and try another dish.
The atmosphere was awesome, the appetizers were some of the best food Ive ever had (shishito peppers and baku onigiri FTW) and the cocktails were great too.My only critique was that by the time we got our mains (ramen), they tasted kind of flat (though the pork belly was fantastic!) in comparison to the really complex flavors we had become accustomed to with our apps.If I were to come back--and I hope to-- think Id stick to drinks and small plates, which is where Misuta Chows really seems to shine.
I thought it was okay. I mean the service itself was great but the food was mediocre, in my opinion. Thought it was a bit overpriced for the don buri that was very minimal protein with a lot of rice. The ratio just seemed off to me. I may be comparing it to the don buri from NYC but even for that price, I thought I would get more meat.I still felt hungry after our dinner. Ill definitely come back to try some other food out but I know Ill probably still be hungry afterwards.
Lovely two story bar nestled in the heart of downtown Buffalo. Chows services a taste palate not well represented in the city with authentic Japanese dishes, which complements the interior design of a busy Japanese street alley. There is a retro arcade on the second floor (flanked with a second bar), truly realizing that eastern arcade bar vibe popularized by lounge bars in Japan.
It’s a cool, new place to check out but that’s about it. Didn’t try any drinks or food but heard it’s overpriced. The arcade style games and decor make it fun but it’s bad business to not have a sign or address on your establishment. Not convenient to find for the customer.
Cool drinks, lots of Toki featured cocktails. Decor is pretty bonkers. The pink stair photos are the new shark girl photos on tinder. The main issue is that theyre really popular at the moment, and the space is very long and narrow. Youre basically shoulder to shoulder all night, and the arcade games upstairs feel a tad claustrophobic as a result. I swear I could feel the floor shifting under me. A few cabinets were out of order, and the A/C was down when I was there, which made things a bit oppressive. The issues with the upstairs arcade are currently:-Most machines are 50¢ a player or more, which is a bit much in my opinion considering the cost of everything.-The cabinets are almost all super old school quarter eaters with impossible games like tron/spy hunter. Dont go here expecting Metal Slug or newer.-Theres nowhere to put your drink when you play. On top of the cabinet doesnt quite work, so the only other options are the floor or a friend. Im sure there could be a creative solution for that.Overall, for Buffalos first real barcade (I dont count DnB), it has potential. Some more cabinets would be cool, but the space is a hugely limiting factor. Its definitely fun, and Im excited to see what they do in the coming years.
Misuta Chows was a cool vibe, good beer menu, and it looked like the pin ball was fun - but the menu looked amazing and the awesome Japanese street food included things that this foodie had never tried at either more traditional or infusion style Japanese places, along with some Staples - yum!
Cool place with good service. Be wary of the portion sizes. The Nippon Yokocho Burger is slider size for $15 and the Oosama-Kani Dunbar Sushi Roll is not as loaded as you would expect for $13. Everything tasted great, we were just unaware of the small portions. The Ramen seems to be the way to go.
Delicious Japanese street cuisine served with a cool vibe. Decor reminiscent of a Tokyo alleyway.Vintage arcade and tons of neon make the upper level barcade a popular destination before and after dinner then its Buffalos hottest karaoke venue every Sunday night with SoonerTunes Productions from 8pm to midnight.Something for everyone at Misuta Chows!
Hip and Trendy hotspot on Downtown Buffalo. Theres 2 entrance, one through main and the other through Washington. Theres paid parking lot on the Washington st side of entrance. The main attraction is obviously the pink staircase! Almost a Buffalo must do insta spot! Theres some cool cocktails they make. Hello Kitty is a very popular cocktail. The upstairs has arcade games and usually a live Band at night. Recommend it.

2022-06-19This is a favorite of mine in downtown Buffalo! The staff is fun and friendly, the food and drinks are stellar, and the layout of the whole place is super cool. This time around I got the buns with Japanese-style fried chicken in them, and the worst part about them was just that they were so delicious that I ate them too quickly. All the decorations and decor in the place makes it such a cool place to be at. The upstairs barcade with the retro games is a lot of fun too! Always happy to drop by here with friends when I can.

2022-04-26Sorry I didn’t leave this review sooner because everything about this place was perfect. The host, the server, the bartender, and Johny Chow were amazing, but it doesn’t end there. The decor and the upstairs arcade and bar were all incredible (an instagrammer’s fantasy). Cocktail list and sake selection were incredible and recommended from a confident and informed server. Food was out of this world unreal. Karaage chicken was so amazing we ordered a second order in addition to the ramen that we still crave all of the time. Everything about this place was a 10/10 especially since we just got engaged the day before. I will always remember this place and hold it close to my heart. I can’t wait to visit Buffalo again!

2021-12-16Awesome food, I really enjoyed the short rib ramen! I also loved the vibes at this place. Decor was perfect, beer (and alcohol) selection was great with lots of local options, and they had TCM playing on a projector with indie music on the speakers. My dream. Will be sure to return on future trips to Buffalo.

2022-03-27Excellent food! What a great eclectic vibe with outstanding food. It may be our first time, but sure wont be our last. We enjoyed the arcade while we waited for our table. Between the Rice Bowls, Ramen, and Shishito peppers, it was a truly fabulous meal.

2022-04-06Very cool restaurant with a great vibe. Our server was nice. The food was delicious. The spicy shrimp bao bun is really, really good. They had a live band when we there so the game room upstairs was pretty packed. All in all, it was a fun experience and I definitely will return.***Dont forget to buy a round for the kitchen when you go there! ***

2021-06-22This was a great first meal during our vacation to Buffalo-Niagara area. The servers were friendly and personable, and the food was really good. We ordered the Mini Chow Platter to start, which featured chicken karaage, wings, egg roll and fried dumplings. Everything on this plate was delicious. My partner had the chow burger which he said was exceptional, and I had the Chicken Ramen and Bang Bang Cauliflower Bao Buns which were great. We bought a round for the kitchen as a thanks, and they gifted us with a delightful and scrumptious chocolate covered oreo fit for pride month! Misuta Chows really wouldve been a 5/5 knockout for us, but the wait times for our dishes were just a bit long, and unfortunately, there was no room in the cool, vibey instagrammable indoors, so we were seated outdoors during a humid, cold evening. Definitely recommend, but just wait for the indoor seating!

2022-05-08I don’t know if my expectations were too high. We went for my sister’s birthday as a group of eight. We made a reservation weeks in advance and we are well aware that a group of eight will mean a longer wait when it comes to service. We were sat pretty quickly (maybe ten minutes) and while waiting for our table we just went upstairs to play games. We were sat and after maybe twenty minutes out waiter came over to greet us. He gave some more time with the menu as he informed us they were out of few menu items including buns. He came back and we ordered. We then waited over an hour for just the apps. By the time we started to get entrees it had been well over two hours from when we ordered. The food was pretty good. Most of us enjoyed our food and any issue was a personal preference rather than a restaurant issue. We finished quickly as we hungry from the wait and asked for the checks and a few to-go containers for what was left. The waiter bounced around to his few other tables for the next 40+minutes before we asked for the check again. I understand being assigned too many tables and having to attend to all of them but this felt inattentive. The waiter finally came back with the check. After waiting for so long we decided not to split the check and just Venmo each other. After letting the waiter know we were ready we waited forever again just for one of us to walk up to the waiter and hand him the check and card. I feel bad writing this review as the waiter was overall pretty nice and all of our food was satisfactory, just being in the restaurant for three plus hours seems like a bit much. Willing to give it a shot again but just seemed like a rough night
