Miyako Sushi in other cities:
Miyako has been my go-to sushi place for at least a decade, probably longer. Yes, there are better sushi places on the Upper West Side, but they are all much more expensive than Miyako. There are also places with lower prices than Miyako, but their sushi is nowhere near as good. Miyako is the best of both worlds: its not the #1 best sushi Ive ever had in my life, but its still excellent, and at reasonable prices. If I was going all-out for a super-luxe sushi dinner with friends, Id pick another spot, but if I just want to get myself some sushi for lunch/dinner, this is my spot. The lunch/dinner roll specials are an especially good deal. And some of the appetizers are to die for: the kani salad, seaweed salad, tuna carpaccio, tako su, and yellowtail with jalapeño and yuzu sauce are a few of my favorites. Ive never ordered any of the non-sushi entrees, but my boyfriend had the chicken teriyaki one time (he doesnt like sushi) and he said it was pretty good.
Definitely the best sushi on the UWS. The fish is ALWAYS extremely fresh and you cannot beat the prices for their sushi or sashimi dinner. Plus, the people who work there are very friendly and always accommodate an “extra spicy Mayo on the side” request. 👏🏻Highly recommend👏🏻
We ordered for the 1st time today and were so impressed. The sushi was the freaking best according to my 9 year old son. The katsu pork was perfect - even more so because they punched little holes in the lid of the container to keep it from getting soggy. They also hurried our take out order when they saw the ravenous look on my sons face. Well make this a regular stop!
Decent place. Not the greatest sushi ive ever had but good enough. I work in the area so its become my sushi restaurant by default because of the location. I will probably continue to go there since like I said, its good enough. But i would like to try and find a GREAT place in the area if I can. Not much of a review I know but thats all I got.
Ordered from Grubhub - made a note asking for enough wasabi for 4 orders of cucumber rolls. Still got only half the wasabi needed and it was the weakest, most diluted wasabi i’ve ever had. I could eat it by itself and it still had no kick. Also, the rice on the inside out roll was soggy and tasteless - not even sesame seeds on it. Will never order again.
Love this place! A group of friends and I have been ordering from here every other week for a few months now. Our orders are always correct, always on time, and always of high quality delicious fish. The rolls are big & well rolled too!! Its a dream come true for ordered in sushi.
This is my go to sushi place, everything I have had here is solid. My favorite is the two roll combo special. Perfect amount go sushi for me. Their veggie goyza, eggplant miso, and vegetable soup is also delicious. When I go to the restaurant it is always clean and the staff are nice. When I order online the food always comes on time and packaged nicely.
Miyako was more flavorful, more delicious, less expensive and a better overall experience than our usual sushi place. So glad we tried something new! I wish I could compliment her by name, but my sincere appreciation goes to the young lady who coordinated my takeout order. When I arrived outside the restaurant wearing an improvised face mask she added a a brand new surgical mask to my bag. So thoughtful!
Had to pick up an Uber order. They had me waiting for 10 mins or more. Uber does not pay me for wait time and usually you go in and out to pick up! They did not let me use the restroom despite making me wait. These people are so inhumane. If you are making these people money, you would imagine they would at least let you use the restroom while you wait. Delivery drivers are doing orders back to back and cant go home just to use the restroom. Usually if you deliver for a restaurant, they will let you use their restroom. Not these terrible people. Awful!
Beef Hibachi and Chicken Udom noodles were great. What a nice little hidden gem. Cozy interior as well. Did not order sushi, so cant speak about it. We did, however, order green tea and mango ice creams, which my son and wife loved! Service was great especially for 2 year old daughter. Id def recommend or go again based on my first visit.
The people are nice, its clean, they have a nice menu and the food is reasonably priced. I ordered the bento box with katsu chicken (crispy fried chicken), it was good but I thought I would get an Asian sauce but the sauce was just a barbecue sauce like the one Id buy in the grocery store. They dont have curry sauce for the bento box. I would recommend.
Miyako sushi is a small little pleasure in a city where resturants open and get shut down at a whim. It is a place to escape and enjoy the finer things in sushi for a cheap price, especially lunch menu, where even high school students go by themselves. If you get lucky like I have, you will get a friend or 2 from the servers who put a smile on your face every time you come in. It is not just an inexpensive place to eat sushi, its a little island of peace amd tranquility.
It used to like this place so much for the last 14 years, but I went dinner yesterday. The service was so rush that they didnt ask whether we wanted dessert and yet the place wasnt full. After annoying the server, we asked for mochis and theyre not good, as I buy it in other Japanese restaurants... It will be really hard for me to ever go back.

2022-05-15We ordered this and it seemed like a toddler made our rolls. The rice seemed expired, rock solid, and fell right off the sushi and the Kani salad was just stripped crab and cucumber. It didn’t even have the sauce it normally does on it. Our experience was very sad for us and way overpriced for this rushed sushi. We were also charged 50 cents per sauce which means this rice is actually expired to save some costs.

2022-04-16I was surprised that there arent that many Japanese restaurants in the local area. Many of the local restaurants serve sushi, but they arent sushi restaurants. Theyre just Americana with some sushi on the menu. Miyako Sushi is the real deal. I think there might be one other one locally. I got a sushi deluxe, as I typically do. It was very good and I got a lot of salmon, which I love. The salmon was...Im not really sure how to describe it...maybe a little oily? More than likely it was a more fatty salmon, and I am not a big fan of the extra grease. But it was still relatively good. I placed the order by phone and picked it personally, so I got to see the restaurant. Its a quaint little restaurant with several tables. It was a very nice evening, so they had the front glass doors opened up onto the sidewalk. There were some chairs set up for people picking up, set both inside and out. I did not see any more clients while I was there, though I didnt have to wait very long. I think this restaurant can be easily missed, but Miyako Sushi is definitely too good to pass up when youre looking for authentic Japanese food.

2022-05-05Their Sake Don, which Ive ordered several dozen times since moving to the upper reaches of Manhattan, is a very generous portion for the price and the fish is always fresh and tasty. Hard to find consistency at sushi places sometimes, but I was impressed with how I could get the same thing every time and be impressed every one of those times. Gotta knock off a star for the uni, the quality of which is hit or miss.

2022-05-26I just love their lunch special menu. It’s simple but definitely worth to try. Fast service, quality food and polite staff. Will come back.

2022-07-12Avoid. Quality is not good and the sushi isn’t flavorful. I’d forgive it for a lower price but it just isn’t a great option compared to even Whole Foods premade…

2021-04-22I actually dont eat seafood, but there rest of the dishes here are DELICIOUS and in ample portions - with a great inexpensive $8 lunch special. Quality ingredients, friendly wait staff, in an unassuming sparsely decorated Space, around a traditional sushi 🍣 counter where the chefs can be admired. Good COVID-safe practices. Two tables on the sidewalk, three indoors with a nearly completely open storefront (not just the door). Theres a wheelchair ramp for the two steps up. Will definitely be returning!
