Wonderful inner-city Park. Huge water splash area (largest in the city) for those really hot days. Shelters and grills within park. Nice scenery. Well kept park. Very nice for concerts and family gathering 😊 The recent Rick James celebration there was amazing!! And without any incidents, loved it!!!
Beautiful park, lots of green space. Fountains for children, nice looking tennis courts. And parking. In the summer on Saturday mornings the East Side Bike Club meets by the bust head at 9:30 and rolls out at 10am. And some group has a live DJ and aerobics. You should check it out.
I think the head is attached to a body underground. Its safe and peaceful when we freestyle in the park. I am a large black man so maybe I never have problems but its nice. The water is a feature is sad but suitable on a hot asl day.The play area will injure your child. Its a tradition. There PLENTY of grass to look at and trees here and there. They have small grills for gatherings. Not a lot of trash. The green house exist too.Waay in the back near the school is a basketball court. Ive NEVER seen basketball played there.
East side riders meet this morning at MLK park before heading out as a group. These are people from all parts of Western new York that come together to ride bikes of all kinds.come join US each Saturday morning at MLK park. You cant miss the friendly crowd and nice bicycles. I had FUN!!
Had a birthday party here for 2 young children. The BBQ area was simple and effective. Tables where spaced out and chained to opposite corners of the shelters for covid19 safety regulations. Very clean park, kids had fun in-between adult lead sanitizing of the play spaces.
The weather was beautiful!Third park is an old time favorite! The park was clean, the splash pad was clean and inviting. The was bench seating, but I brought my own chairs. If you want to grill you can the are a few installed around the park area, but most definitely could bring your own. There are some pigskin that can be used, best to reserve if you have a big group for privacy. The area isnot too loud where you couldnt read a book and relax. Only downfall there were no trash cans on the side of the park I sat on.Most enjoyable!
I was impressed at how well maintained the park was. It was very neat and clean. I was there for my grandsons 1st birthday party and everyone had a great time. The kids loved the splash pad and the playground area. I also go there for the yearly Juneteenth and pine grill festivals which are always great
On june 26th i spend 16 hour in ER body was tired. I knew I would feel better on Saturday because excerise class would help me and it did. I did what I could felt so much better. She said stay with me come on stay with me and I did. Thank GOD for program it means so much to us. Thank you for a instructor that knows how to motivate us. I was in bad shape. I left like myself afterward.
Can be fun at times but youll encounter some bad a%$ kids there and their parents are no better. So if one of them kids rough up yours just leave because if you yell at someone else kids or whatever they gonna jump on you NO MATTER what their kids did. Only like going when the police are present and/or park staff. It can be fun but then there are some days you wish some of them kids would just leave and their guardians.
Went to the Science Museum to see the Lego exhibit. It was amazing and my family loved it. Parking was awful, had to drive around looking for a place to park. Finally found a spot on Best St..and had to walk 2-3 blocks in the pouring rain. Need more parking spaces closer to the museum.
Love this park!! Walked the entire perimeter. The wading pool was disappointing, not enough water. The steps of the Science Museum need work. It was a good workout though. This one guy had a karaoke Bluetooth speaker, he played old school R & B. Very enjoyable. Kids of every age loved the music. I hope he is a regular😄😄😄
Ive been going to this part for a long time I grew up at the park and it was just as so fascinating that they cant you know actually put more activities there make it you know feel more of as of a great neighborhood and you know I appreciate the feeling. And I hope they got more to come more building more and inspiring inspiration put into depart to that tradition and Ill do to to enlighten are feelings more in and give us good experience on it I have a dream and all of that stuff should go there you know just to make it feel like something you know hello poem on the ground in concrete
This is a wonderful place to go with the family or alone. Their is convenient free parking as well as porta potties. The children will enjoy the huge sprinkler pool as well as the play ground area. Martin Luther King has seen several upgrades during the past few years. Its a wonderful park to build friends and family memories.
Byron Brown needs to be ashamed of his self bad enough to east side of Buffalo was tore up from the concrete to the house is to The Greenery but the parts are horrible and traps for children all of the swings and slides are outdated its not clean the benches are horrible is so many bugs theres no upkeep on the east side of Buffalo especially when it comes to Martin Luther King Park
M.L.K. park is a great place for children to enjoy and a safe and relaxed environment. A few days ago all modern swing items were added. The perfect place for a barbecue picnic. Eid prayers have been allowed for the Muslim community in a section of the park. The park is carrying the tradition and importance of the city of Buffalo.
Ive lived near this park my whole life and it is truly one of the heartbeats of the East side of Buffalo, NY. Many festivals and events are held through out the summer here along with sprinklers in the wading pool on hot days. Tennis court, basketball court, swinging sets, and shelters. It also holds Buffalos most popular Science Museum. Ice skating in the winter time and beauty all year around.
Attended the pine grill festival great music family members old and young real good party atmosphere no drama I wish they would diversify the food thats being sold a little more what I mean by that is more of a traditional food offers and healthier choices but its a great place to go if you grew up on the Eastside of Buffalo to see people you may not have seen in 20 years it is definitely a gathering all people that can remember when the pine grill existed the plants here were thriving and the community was vibrant I also wish that they would add any more cultural activities so some of our culture can be passed on to the new generations
What a BUEATIFUL Historical view. Selective sights to see from its bountiful blooms of trees to its breathtaking photos of Mother Nature at her finest work of art. Enjoy an eyeful while strolling or get into tippy top shape treading the bike and jogging paths aligned with flowers, manicured grass and a pool of meditating sun-kissed waters🧘
Visiting the park, I listened to the music and I grilled food for my family. I enjoy going to the park regularly as its in the community and is where Dr Martin Luther Kings bust.also the science museum is located. I believe that the wading pool here is the largest in the city. There is several shelters in the park also.
I did not go to MLK Park. Actually I was at the Buffalo Museum of Science to see the golden mummies. Also got to see what was on all of the first third and fourth floors. We spend a couple hours there and were tired when we were done. Give the Museum of Science a try but as far as MLK Park, no comment. I used to go on that waiting pool back in the early 50s back when I think it was Humboldt Park
My grandchildren and I love this local Olmsted Community Park. Martin Luther King Jr. Park has a warm and inviting atmosphere that is great for family cookouts, featuring a big splash pool (which doubles as an ice-skating rink in the wintertime) and provides loads of refreshing, good, clean, healthy outside fun in the summertime, along with playgrounds, walking/bike paths, weekly summer concert series, various festivals and reunions!
Hidden gem. Parents were relunctant to come here with their grandkids. But we had brought food with us to our trip out from Rochester to Buffalo and wanted a place to eat. We grabbed a picnic table at a pavilion near the playground. Before you know it, my sons were throwing a football with other locals and my daughter was dancing in the huge splash pad while I chatted up with a local mom enjoying the day with her kids. We all left feeling like we were in on a little known secret!
Park is beautiful but ppl not so much...ppl do not respect the park..kids almost got run over by a driver escaping a hit and run that decided to drive thru the park to get away..during the summer, there are numerous amount of ppl that smoke weed...out in the open and in front of children. There needs to be more workers or security.
I only give this area a 2 out of 5 star rating because there where alot of bones and piles of leaves with dirt lying in around the circle. Now the garbage wasnt too bad. But the sidewalk or bike trail was unfinished. The paths were uneven causing floods in several areas throughout the paths around the park. I had a better view of the paths because i was riding my bike. The two paths i remember one being in front of the park facing the parking lot on Best Street needs attention, and so does the path in the back next to the Science Center. Also a public announcement woul be nice, letting people know when or what time the sprinklers are active would be nice. Because bikers like myself enjoy riding around the circle and dont want to be, whats the word im looking for? Okay well bikers like myself dont want to get wet.So for example you would say or post a sign saying something like hi there welcome to MLK Park todays announcement s the. Parks sprinklers are on from month blank to month blank, on day blank to day blank, from time to time. Then bikers like me would know when its safe to return to the circle. In my conclusion my vist a week ago to Martin Luther King Park, was disliked, in time anything is possible.
It was exhausting but all of the kids had a lot to do the kids loved it and a lot of high technology which teachs the kids about something they did not provide food not aloud too bring food up stairs and there is a quiet time and there is aloud smoking time but the doors closed at certain times. DONT SMOKE INSIDE! Or at all
Beautiful park. I especially love it during Juneteenth Festival where they have the parade, the best food (soul food), and really neat wares from Africa. The park is also nice because it has the Science Museum there, and the fountain is a great hit in the summertime for kids. I have heard it can be unsafe there at night. I also wish the MLK Jr statue looked a bit more like MLK Jr. It doesnt really look like him at all.
A lot of festivals start this summer off with June teenth, Jazz festival and carnivals and back to school, Birthday parties, if you want to have fun and bring children to a great environment, Come over to Martin Luther King Jr Park and check out the science museum at the same time...
THIS WAS A BIRTHDAY GIFT TO FOUR GRANDS .Best gift we arrive around, 10:00 am, to enjoy Digi space, the children had an awesome, time,as well as I, watching them on the dance boards against the wall to follow the moves, on the white shadow ,with their sun glasses on, these were my two nine years old, following ever so perfectly, as they all ready know, how to dance, my other two four you olds dance as well. We got in front of the 3D wall, well my 4 year old did her thang, I on the other hand, got hit by everything that came my way, boulders, cars ,trucks, now this is a game of movements, So in my defense, I recently had surgery, make that two back surgeries so I couldnt duck,Bob bend, needless to say my 4 year old beat me and a couple of others , as she played it several times, the board, with the squares is pattern board that lights up and you have to be quick, well you already know who won, this game similar to Simon says with the color patterns, my favorite was the white board, you step in front of and just move ,but you dont see your self, you turned into a furry creatures. I was the big brown one the middle with my two youngest grands ,one red one blue you just slide and move. I could go on on bout this outing, as you see we didnt leave until around 5:00 pm. Safe to say we had a ball, an then the children finally realize they were hungry. So this event ended April 22nd 2018,if you missed it catch next time. Our day didnt end exactly their we were our way to get food, and driving on Ferry st.at Michigan ,the African American wall we stop took some pics , an then dinner. I have a lively bunch of grands 15 in total an one great, they were not finish with me yet as after dinner home we go, they watch moves the energy people my grands have its bout 10: 00 pm not sleepy yet Nana to the rescue, bundle them up, March them across the street at Canal side, where the board walk start told them to run all the way down pass the sandbox, just keep running ,well theirs a big dinosaur, well they posted pics, still not tired but Nana is, run home children, got in cleaned up PJs, still wanted to watch movies, I told them this ,our door is locked no one coming this late, and if someone did knock Dont open my door, Nana going to bed @ 1:00 am. Awesome grands, and day. Planning trip again to the Museum as they have a rare egg, must see. See you all there.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Park is slowly coming back into its own. Im really hoping to see an upgrade in the playground. Im hoping a couple of playgrounds. There is a committee spearheading this and you should be involved! Check events on Facebook! Also, with what has happened with Thursday at the Square and Thursday at Canalside. Im hoping to see more events and activities that invite local artists and performances the represent our culture.
I love the Juneteenth celebration I think that is positive that its at MLK Park I believe that the park should be utilize a little more it should be awesome more activities offer just as well as the Juneteenth we should have you activities adult activities the park must be used in a way where we bring people together not just once a year.
(spring 2019) Oh, how I wish Buffalo were equitable in its treatment of public spaces. This park could be amazing, and instead its mysteriously just ... ok. It needs more than occasional reinvestment and uneven maintenance - it needs commitment to continuous reimagining and improvement. The south side combo traffic / parking areas / Best Street intersections are unsafe, unsightly and unacceptable. The wading water is fantastic, unrivalled - how about some shade or a place to sit nearby? Signage? LaSalle, and Delaware parks are a good example of what progress is possible (though LaSalle needs, and will be getting, more work) but excellence is far from the reality at this otherwise beautiful site.
Quite night out me n the better half had to pull over and we just parked lol it was home like still with a welcomed energy although it was late I really dont rember seeing that none of my parkers out and not much new parckers however Ill be there this summer once I get my car on the drove 🎧standby
This park is unsafe for kids to play its not fit for a dog playground area paint chipping off slide and other things that the kids play on police officers need to be patroling the area at all times for the kids safety this park is a disaster it needs to be torn down and rebuilt thanks Mayer Brown for making Martin Luther Kings Park so beautiful I guess its more white people came to Martin Luther Kings Park you would do something about it

2022-05-07Its so therapeutic by the water and the rush of the water streaming down the lake. First time today visiting and will definitely coming back as long as the weather stays decent. Very good place for meditating. Hidden treasure. I have lived around this area for over 30 years and never crossed my mind to come here.
