I watch these trucks come by week after week to take my recycles in Cheektowaga, and every single time they come by, there is trash left blowing or rolling around all over my neighborhood. These trucks just grab the totes and dump them into their bins without ensuring that the contents will be contained until it is inside the bin. The employees couldn’t be bothered to pick anything up now that they don’t have to get out of the trucks any more.
Today, at 2:10 pm my friend and I was trying to get down the road as a crew was picking up the garbage. The truck was taking both sides of the road. Making us wait. I started to take photos because I could not believe that is how someone with a NYS CDL would drive. When my friend asked the driver why he was in the middle of the road. The driver answered that is how we do it. My mind was blown. What if emergency crews had to go down the road? Really when did this company not care about safety? I hope that this is not company policy.
Ive had the 2 national companies for my residential waste service in the past. Both performed poorly (frequent missed pick-ups), rude employees and the highest costs for service in the region.Ive had Modern as my waste service provider for 5 yrs. now, and couldn’t be happier. Good service, friendly crews and customer service representatives. And cost for service is very reasonable, approx. 1/3 less per yr. Than the big 2 national haulers. Four weeks of no service and they pinned the blame on me every single time I called until I photographed the evidence. On top of that, they keep raising the price. I am currently paying over 3000 dollars a year! If I could give a score lower than one I would. Do NOT hire these guys.
I actually applied for a job with the company.About two days later after I applied I received a email to contact the talent specialist for a zoom interview.I called back left two messages and even emailed them and there was no response.I been reaching out for the past two days and still nothing.I feel like they ghosted me for an interview
Drivers ( at least in our area ) are lazy and irresponsible. They dump your trash and or recycling EVERYWHERE. The driver actually got out and looked at the spill today and got back in his truck and moved on. Really? Zero work ethic. Ive called Modern twice on the issue since we have moved in with no resolution.
Very unproffesional Co. Failed to pick up garbage 4 times and when called about it the response was as follows....still didnt pick up the garbage and placed TWO supervisors across the street at different times to sit and watch the house. They have been reported, but this behavior is downright predatory. I would urge the city to find a different Co. to contract with. Will be at the next board meeting.
This is a terrible garbage service....My town has been using this company for garbage pick up for the 7 years ive lived in Waterport NY , I have never had an issue till this year....called to complain but they just dont care....have now had 3 broken garbage cans because the guy just throws them iether into the truck or into my yard and always(this year) leaves garbage strewn across my yard that I have to go out and pick up because he usually breaks open a bag or two while throwing my cans around and today, they broke my yard reflecting stakes I just put in when they threw the garbage can...ridiculus...and they also drive in reverse very fast around my Nieghbor hood ...no reason for it...and not this time but many times in the past they have driven right through my yard for whatever reason , the last time taking out my septic line thats close to the road, even though I put in large rocks which they drove right over...This is the last time Modern Disposal....I have photo and video evidence that I will be sending to the media come next week...if this does not change...and also a bill for my three trash cans and septic repair...maybe then we will change our ways...there is no accountability and pride anymore all is lost....

2022-09-01They are racist !!!! They act like the job is so hard and it’s only hard because of the unbalanced structure from the company itself ! When I was interviewed they were talking ideas from me such as different systems and structure from my previous jobs and writing them down ! They told me themselves they need a lot of help and during my first week they continuously asked me if I was coming back because nobody stays there! The company it self is horrible since I been there there has been multiple altercations with the drivers and local residents from irate behavior drinking on the job! I say their racist because I was the only young black person there already felt kind of awkward but I gave it the benefit of the doubt ! I only been there since 8/8/22 until today 9/1 they always gave me good feed back and I feel if there was any issues within my performance I should have been coach didn’t even complete 90 day probation period oh I forgot they don’t even have that ! Now today they hired a white man I get fired I’ve been in collections since 2012 always been a great worker I’ve felt with multiple of well known paying jobs and never experienced this even one of the employees told me be careful they smile in your face because they need you right now !!! So I was basically used until they found their own kind just should’ve never hired me and the only reason they did because they knew I was a good asset to their company but they just used me because of my color wasn’t beneficial to them !!!!!!

2022-05-19I had to start putting my tote on the opposite side of the driveway because the were constantly leaving it in the middle of the driveway so I couldnt pull in. Now they didnt pick up my trash on Monday and Ive called every day and they still havent picked it up on Thursday night. Every time you call they act like they have no record of it. Extremely frustrating company to deal with.

2022-07-22Their contract doesnt list the correct price. The CSR who I spoke with didnt give me the correct price either. Was told today that both are incorrect and the price was different(higher of course). Cancelled before they dropped off their bins. Poor way to run your business.

2022-04-05They have lazy employees! And they only take your trash wherever they feel like! Sometimes they will just drive and pass and theyre always late. I wouldnt recommend this company to anyone. They also have the worst reviews!

2021-12-17My town changed to Modern and the service is not at all what Waste Management provided. It may be cheaper, but it is not good. I have had to call several times to have them return to get the garbage that is sitting in the can at the road waiting for the truck. Today, I chased them while dragging the can because I saw them drive by it! The guys waved at me and drove away!

2022-08-31Awful!! Rented a porta potty and cannot get them to pick it up. This company has terrible customer service. Do not use this company.

2021-04-02I’m shocked at the negative reviews.. but, I can only speak for myself. The team that picks up at my residence every week is awesome!! I can’t thank them enough for being so courteous. I have never had my cans tossed or entire load not taken. Never missed a day through the pandemic and had great customer service. Big thank you to everyone at Modern!

2020-12-03I unfortunately have to write my first negative review. Albeit given a small sample size, modern disposal has missed my recycle pickup for the first 9 weeks that I have lived at my new home. I have contacted customer service weekly and still the issue has not been resolved. My recycling was again missed today. On one occasion my recycle pickup was 8 days late despite daily correspondence and assurance the problem would be addressed. I have spoken with nice people on the phone but their action has been very ineffective. Overall, I have had a very poor customer experience.

2021-01-08Ive never seen anything like their service. Some weeks they dont pick any of our trash up, some weeks they take only part of whats out. On occasion, they take the garbage totes themselves leaving it up to us to purchase another (ours and a neighbors that I know of). I would urge any municipality who is considering a contract with this company to STEER CLEAR.
