I came for new years eve event. All the staff was friendly and helpful. I had a great time. It is pricey but it is a one lifetime experience. Not the best view of New York. But it has a good view of empire state building. The rooftop is small but the place was not too crowded and worked out perfect for us. I had a great time for the new years eve event.
Monarch is that hip place giving you a feeling of exclusivity right from the start (Reservations are a must). It is one of those swanky places where you can meet your friends over a cool setting - that being refreshing drinks, tasty appetizers within a trendy ambience with spectacular views. All of which are definitely true. The views of 34th St are amazing. The cocktails are delicious. The food presentation and taste is definitely top notch. And the ambience is quite fun (at least during my visit all the folks around seemed to have fun). However service could be much improved, specially for the pricing that they charge. Reservations are allotted for 2 hours only. And drink orders took at least 40 mins to arrive at our table for our group. As much as we loved them, and wanted to order more, unfortunately we ran out of time after our 2nd order. While our server was great, rest of the staff could be friendlier (host, security etc).Overall, it is definitely an experience for at least once.
Customer service is one of the most shocking Ive experienced. Online pictures make it look a lot better than it actually is. The food is actually very tasty, but that is the ONLY good point. There are so many other, far superior rooftop bars in New York, dont waste your time here.
This is the most amazing place for a party! The setting! The staff! The drinks! The food! The vibe! All of it! Everyone goes the extra mile to make it a wonderful night. The planning was very smooth—Farrah walked me through the whole process and Evie, Atom and Herb and all of the other folks made the night truly special. I can’t wait to go back!
It’s ok for a social gathering. I’m not sure it’s a great client venue because it’s loud. The drinks are spectacular and the food is awesome (especially the little burgers). The service sets it apart. It’s a really solid experience. I took off a star because I couldn’t really hold a conversation but it’s a cool place to go.
Me and a friend went try the food and drinks after work. The place is great and so is the bar service, but when we asked for a table the girl who was at the front told us all of the tables were not available.Instead only the bar was available. We spent almost 2 hours at the bar and we never saw anyone sitting even after we left. Bad customer service. I feel bad for the owner. I’m not going back there. She had a really bad attitude so sad 😞
Very disappointing. One of the worst service I’ve had from all of the United States. I was super excited to try this rooftop bar but left early because of how bad it was. The service was incredibly bad. Was super hard to get a waiter. I would stop one and they were rude and told me to ask another one. I finally got a hold of one and asked a question, he said he would go ask for me but never came back. Definitely do not recommend coming here.
The food here is okay. Nothing is impressive. I went with a bigger group and they assigned us one server who was initially a bit rude but I think she was also very overwhelmed and by the end of it, we felt very taken care of. The one drink I had was a spicy margarita with mezcal and I could barely taste the mezcal so that was disappointing. Overall it was loud and busy and the seating wasn’t the most comfortable so it was not the best sensory experience for me.
Its a nice space with some nice chow in the heart of NYC. Itd get five stars if it wasnt for the awkward push to rearrange furniture a half dozen times. We had to be moved or we were an inconvenience to staff (apparently, based on their behavior toward us) because they wanted to rearrange couches a few times and shift chairs around. It didnt make sense, but they were pretty rude to a group of customers about their own issues. It was unexpected, too. If we were told even 10 seconds in advance there was a 4 seater couch en route we couldve shifted out of the way, but no. 2-3 workers just decided to push into people with furniture and yell like idiots. With every second I write this review I find myself removing stars.
Prices are spot for being the city. They do require Reservations cuz it gets a packed especially around sunset time....I got the frosé and chill which spot on AMAZING...The fries you must have...at least 2 plates lol......Guacamole was OK definitely not fresh... but it was prepared tasty....
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! My fiancé and I had been gifted a gift card to the rooftop by some family. We live about 45 min to an hour away (via Metro North) We decided to go on Saturday night with some friends so we made a reservation. Upon ordering our drinks I told the bar tender we have a gift card and he said he’s speak to the manager about it but needed a card none the less for the tab. We had a round and decided to close out. My fiancé approaches the same bartender who then laughs in his face when me mentions a gift card and says “yeah right? a gift card, cmon man”…we asked to speak to a different bartender who then said they don’t honor gift cards..we ask for the manager who very rudely told us we had to make a reservation (which we had) and then proceed to say oh no you have email the bar to state we were using a gift card (she was clearly making this all up on the spot). No where on the gift card is this stated and when we explained this to her she very rudely told us she is not going to waste her time talking to us any longer and said she was walking away, gave us a thumbs up and left. Very poor service. Please do yourself a favor and go to a different rooftop.
This place a a joke. It’s in a very average location in Manhattan but they present this persona that they are so unique. Instead of being welcoming everting is it do you have a reservation for this do you have a reservation for that. Are you kidding me ? Everything about this place is below average! They have no clue how to run a business and make people feel welcome. They think they are the fours seasons on 35th street ? I don’t think so. I will never ever go back to this low class uninviting venue. DP
One of the worst rooftop Ive ever seen tonight. Bartenders, security guys disinclined to take alcohol orders, but they added you additional tip for real. :) Why would I tip you if you already served me disinclined and the worst one? There are 2 unprofessional ladies that take you to upstairs and tell you to the take of your jackets. When you get into damn place you may see some people wearing jackets on. Dude come on! 👎 If so, why did you ask me to take off my beautiful Louis vuitton jacket poor guys…? DON’T GO THERE FOLKS, THERE ARE BUNCH OF BEAUTIFUL ROOFTOPS IN CITY! 🙂
It has no class I was staying in the hotel below the monarch so I went to check the sky bar then I was mingling with couple from Peru then the server karen came to me and saying stay away from the table because you are not included. It was distasteful act, I told her she is full of make up and disrespecting to out me down in that no class, rather go to Lavo, tao, or phd they treat with class. I was like let me finished my drink then I’ll go, I went to LAVO and night club put me in vip. They hate super model look and classy people that monarch sky bar. Cheap! Low class.
This Rooftop bar is amazing place to be in Friday night. I went with my Friends and absolutely enjoyed it. This place is real NYC. Surrounded by Empire State Building and other Notable buildings. This is a Vibrant place. I am giving 4 stars because they dont have any Snacks with the drinks. That makes you feel so empty. The DJ was not mixing good music. This was not good at all. You will enjoy the ambiance and that is more than enough. I will post the pictures also which makes this place amazing sans good music
Monarch Rooftop is very famous rooftop near Herald Square. The view is amazing with Empire State Building in the front. This is the only place from where Macys Building, which the largest superstore down, can be viewed. They have good drinks and food. Rooftop area is also comfortable. Friendly staff. You need to be well dressed to enter. They consider dressing as one of the criteria when it is crowded.
Ah!! Such a lively rooftop. Because of all the poor reviews, I never happened to visit this place before but glad I did coz it had a really lively vibe...maybe coz I went around a Sunday afternoon. Wasnt too crowded. Drinks were strong although its pricey ( welcome to nyc!!) about $16 a drink.. but my friend ordered this Gin drink which was so bfully done. I got a hot toddy- was quite good. All in all- a chill place. I do recommend it.
This is what one would expect from a rooftop bar in midtown Manhattan: great views, good looking bar tenders, lots of 20 somethings drinking $19 cocktails like they’re the free mimosas which come with Sunday brunch. It’s quite pretentious and I felt judged for my sensible shoes.
I have held 4 seasons of New York Fashion Week Celebrations at this venue, the views are always breathtaking, music can be too loud depending on where you sit but always good music, food and drink are great despite a long wait. Management needs to be more educated on celebrity guests and careful not to disrespect them especially to their faces as they are being photographed in front of the monarch logo. I was also recently appalled to be lied to being informed by VIP section according to the monarch only spent $200 in one night when at that same night just one of my guests in my VIP section left with a bill of $400. I have also noticed the recent crowds coming into the monarch are not dressed accordingly, do not behave as I have been assaulted and several of my guests have been inappropriately touched as well. Management and social media management have absolutely no idea who is in their venue even when being directly told who is there, and I just could not be more insulted that I was lied to so greatly on just numbers. Roped off vip sections do not have security posted until long after it becomes a problem, pleasant and polite bar staff, long wait for anything from the bar, I feel used for press and for names. This would have been a 5 star review if I had different experiences but if you want a selfie with a good view while you wait 45 minutes for a drink and get touched and pushed around by just about everyone else in the venue, this is your place to go.
I celebrated my Birthday here recently. Me and my friends loved this place. The staff was great, the hostess we had was amaizng. Initialy we had an issue with the seating but she fixed it right away. The views are stunning, great atmosphere & good music. We loved their birthday shots too. Giving them 4 stars instead of 5 because the tall girl at the door was rude to me even though I had a reservation days ago.
Really nice place with an amazing view. You do have to be properly dressed and I suggested putting your name on the guest list or making a reservation. If you dont you will be waiting in line for some time. Ladies if you have a very large bag they wont let you in. So pick a little purse or wristlet. I like the atmosphere there and I had some of their finger food it was pretty good. We went Friday nighy and DJ played a nice mix of songs.
Had a weird time here. The staff offered my friends and I some sort of “VIP deal” (we never asked for any sort of deal or discount) but then kept changing the price and what drinks were included. Then even though they had my card and ID, they withheld drinks until we posted and tagged pictures of the club online- we never asked for a discount to do this, and would have rather just paid the normal price. When we protested, he just had a weird response about us “needing to give them something in return” - overall was just weird so we demanded my ID and card and left.
We were celebrating my birthday. Reserved a VIP package. Rude food server! Rude and physically abusive lady DJ and a very bad tempered manager who wears an army hat! Don’t know where he gets that from. Ordered the first round of drinks and they were good. The second of drinks were simply bad tasting. Extremely sour! Did not matter what you ordered! They were watered down and sour. I was ordering some birthday cupcakes and shots and I was talking to the assigned serving lady and because the music was too loud, I approached closer to her ears to speak. My hands touched her back and the DJ lady slapped my hands. I didn’t know why! I was busy making sure serving lady got the order right for the next round drinks because we not happy with the any drinks. My hand accidentally touched her back again while I was trying to speak in her ear because of loud music. DJ lady slapped my hand again. I asked her why! And she basically straight up called me perv. She got pretty bad mouthed! but it was my birthday and i wanted to celebrate and be happy and dance. I let it go. Only to later find out that bartender will not serve us drinks! Upon asking the beard guy manager - he just kept saying I can’t do anything!I went the restroom and when I came out they wouldn’t let me in. Only to later for only kick my friends and I. We went downstairs and the the guy outside of elevator wouldn’t let us stand in the building and pushed us out in the cold. Didn’t let us wait inside for Uber. Ruined my friends and my night. I still have a sour taste and my special day is ruined.I was warned about this place by another friend that beware! But last min and couldn’t find reservations so decided to go here. The amount of humiliation received! I just don’t want anybody else to go through the same thing.Reply to the owner’s comment:You should to keep harassment, discriminations and racism in check!!! From your own employees as they are the ones who started in the first place. As consumers/customers we aren’t going to just tolerate nuisance from you like this. No human being deserves the treatment that your employees started in the first place. Ofcourse there is going to be a response and reaction.
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade at @monarchnyc Rooftop Lounge . The fantastic people at Monarch went beyond expectations to make the viewing of the parade an amazing and thrilling event! Great food, fantastic viewing areas, stellar service, warm and welcoming, and they did it all with smiles! We met people from UK, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Ohio, even a native New Yorker. Going to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was a lifelong dream for me. Seeing it at Monarch Rooftop Lounge made it a Perfect day!!
We had the GREATEST EXPERIENCE HERE! The manager Michael was incredible. An unexpected thurnderstorm came through and they did everything to make sure we were comfortable and dry. Angelina was delightful. She was so accommodating and personable. I will 100% come here again. I wish instead of people complaining about the weather ( like these hard workers have an control) and start realizing how hard they work to make this a great experience. Shout out to the entire staff for the delicious food great drinks and incredible atmosphere. 10/10 recommend. Thank you again for an incredible night!!!
I spent months looking for the perfect spot to propose and couldnt be more happy with the folks at Monarch and the hard work they put in to make it happen. There are a lot of rooftop proposal services in NY but I cant stress enough to go with these folks instead if thats what youre going for as I dont think anyone else will offer the personal touch that they do. Special shout-out to Ksenia, Christina, Andrea, and Andrew for making this one of the best nights of our lives!
Super posh spot for work happy hour!Great views all around!!!Left off a fiver because the hostess are kind of on a power trip like bouncers at a club. There were more then a few empty tables that my wife and i could have sat at and we ushered away to the corner...We had a good time all and all!The drinks are great and spicy!
Was excited for the views and the reservation was only for the bar area. Due to private parties, we couldn’t sneak a view. One bartender for the beginning part of our work happy hour of 12 ppl. Staff kept cutting through us so that was annoying. Drinks were crazy expensive at $18/ cocktail. Food was very mediocre (pizza, guac, and French fries). Bathrooms had a selection of free amenities such as mints, gum, etc.
Four of us were here on a Saturday in December. You definitely cannot beat the views of the Empire State Building. The drinks and food were extremely overpriced, even for the city. 5 mixed drinks and two tiny appetizers cost me $105. Come for the view, have one drink, and eat someplace else.
I came here two weeks ago with a large party and spent a good amount of money during our stay. When going to coat check the lady was missing one of our jackets and had no explanation. I spoke to a manager named Atom who said he would contact me if they found the jacket and if not to resolve the issue. I have called them several times including Atom and have yet to hear back.
Their coat check process was terrible. We spent over $1000 there one night, and my friend couldnt even get his coat back. Some how they gave away his new jacket to someone else, and then turned it around on us saying we didnt have the ticket for it. Clearly we had the ticket, and they just didnt have a matching jacket for it. We emailed the place a few times to get answers, and they never responded. Dont think Ill be coming back.
Great location with awesome photo op with Empire State Building. Strange incident while there for Halloween. Sitting outside and enjoying a few drinks my spouse freaked out. ...there a was a 3 inch long slug on the side of his glass. Dark out so he didnt see it. Very unpleasant to unknowingly touch.Managements only concern was ....was it on the outside or inside of the glass!!!!I didnt say anything but wanted say say very loud - job opening!
Overall the place has a decent vibe but the service from the gentleman who lets you in the elevator was abhorrent. His behaviour towards the guests was rude and if you politely critique his behaviour, he gets defensive and like anyone who gets a little a bit of authority in customer service responds with the classic “I’m just doing my job, talk to the manager if you have an issue”.The servers and other staff members were really nice and friendly but having to deal with the aforementioned person left us not wanting to come back.Hope others have a better experience than we did. Cheers!
We stopped here for afternoon drinks before catching our train home from Penn Station. The staff were all very friendly, the drinks were great, and the views were pretty good too! We sat facing the Empire State Building. We only stayed for about an hour, but that was plenty of time for a couple of cocktails before walking to Penn. Definitely would go back. Be sure to make a reservation.
Monarch is a must! Stellar service, music that makes it impossible to stand still, hip/fun atmosphere with picture-perfect views of the city, I want to go back every weekend! The manager, Atom, checked in on us throughout the night to make sure we were having fun. Cierra, our waitress, was super attentive and caring. Thanks to OC, some of our favorite tunes were played by the DJ. It was an unforgettable night :)
Had a reservation for a private seating for a Saturday night. Reached on time and was told that I had reserved for a general seating area. When I showed the email that said I had a private seating reservation, I was told there are no tables available and they cannot guarantee a table any time soon. I was told to go to the general seating. Left the place in 2 minutes as it was sooo crowded and veryyy noisy with no proper space available to even stand without bumping into others.
Monarch has a flattering view of the Empire State Building and offers a luxury experience overlooking 34th St.However, like every self aware luxurious experience, you will have to pay deeply for it. I would have thought ordering $1,000 bottle service for our group would get us more than two hours on the rooftop, but they need to get the next group in to order another $1k three bottles of alcohol.Minor con: Only 4 bathrooms and lines moved very slowMinor pro: If you make a reservation you don’t have to pay a cover which is nice.
Truly a great great afternoon this past Friday at the Monarch, funky decor, nice staff, sounds system that plays a cool jazzy/funky mix. Our waitress was amazing but lets be real rooftops drinks are expensive but the Monarch had great creative drinks that made it worth while, the door host/bouncers were pleasant and Big Mike is always one of reasons to go to the Monarch...just a great great time
Lots of eye candy for the girls and the guys. Had an amazing time recently at the Monarch, the views live up to the hype, the staff is amazing and a young cool vibe 21 to 40 crowd, if on a tight budget this might not be for you. I will definitely be back, shout out to my candy...Glen my bartender and to Mike my favorite bouncer in NY!
If it werent for the one bad experience I had with the bartender, this review would be 5-stars. To start off, I should say that basically I was getting my friends the drinks they wanted (3 x Jack and cokes and 1 x cherry vodka). I thought I heard the jack and coke was 15 dollars each, so I as I got 20 bucks from each of my friends who wanted it, I expected to get 5 bucks change each. The cherry vodka was only 12 bucks, so I expected the 8 bucks change. What happened after? I thought there was a mistake in the change I received, so I mistakenly gave the bartender some of the change back to make things right with the change I thought he mistakenly gave me (with him thinking I was tipping him). After I understood that the jack and coke was 13 bucks each, then I recalculated until I finally figured out how I ended up with the change I got, so I asked him briefly for the 11 bucks back so I could pay him in card for the tip, and much to his misunderstanding, eventually gives me back the 11 bucks but starts cursing at me, hitting the bar table, giving me the hand to get out of there, and telling me that its the last time Im ever going to order from the bar again as though he thinks that its in his control, all of which I found highly disrespectful, particularly because first off, I dont owe him anything more than the cost of the drink; second off, I said I would pay the tip with my card, I wasnt simply asking for it back; and third off, because I never heard a worker EVER talk this way to the customer (Im not one of many customers to always have my ways by buying into the the customer is always right BS mantra, but in this one case, I was right regardless and got disrespected for absolutely no reason at all!). After I got the 11 back temporarily, I went and asked each of my friends how much to tip the bartender, they all said he can just keep the change, and I ended up giving him the entire 29 bucks change ((13x3) + 12 = 51) ((20x4) - 51 = 29), and the tension lasted immediately. I should say that the bartender was lucky that it wasnt my money because if it were, I wouldve told him that after the way he just behaved, he just lost his tip. I ended up making friends with the dude, but this cannot happen again.Another weird situation, but not as extreme, was when I asked another bartender much later for water using 4 fingers on my hand (for 3 friends plus me), I dont know what her intent was but she just gives me one bottle which I knew that if I took, Id have to pay, causing me to think she was trying play with my money, but then I had to give her the hand with 4 fingers for the second time, with her returning the bottle back to where it belonged and giving me the simple 4 cups of water I explicitly asked for.Other than that, I had quite some experience with the club, how polite people and even the bottle service ladies actually behaved as its not one of those clubs that considers themselves as high-class, and even security were not so feisty for once.
Super cute rooftop bar. Indoor and outdoor seating. Drinks are priced like you would expect for Manhattan rooftop bar! Had an appetizer and drink with a friend, good music and weather was mild so it made for a nice location to chat outside and take in the beautiful night views of the city.
They do accept walk ins but the only seating available is through reservations. Plays loud music if thats not what youre looking for. Drinks were ok but it was relatively packed since they allowed walkins like me so you wont have much space to hang out with your crew unless youre there by yourself.
We recently had our wedding here and it was epic! Genese (events director) was a pleasure to deal with and helped sort the whole day out, we didn’t even need a wedding planner! The day totally exceeded our expectations and the guests all had the best time. The venue is stunning and the views amazing too! The food was delicious, staff were great too! Highly recommend!!!
The place gets very crowded on the weekends. The music is extremely loud not a good place for conversation. Its a small venue and too many people get let in. They advertised plenty of room to dance, yes there is room for about two or three couples to dance after that you better have steel tip shoes on. We just took a couple photos of the nice view and left within 30 minutes.
Last night was truly amazing. Not just for New York Cares but for me as well. The atmospheric energy was so positive and so inviting that almost every patron in that bar was my new best friend. Whoa. Maybe I had more than I should but it was all well worth it. Anyway, the bar itself had several lounges, televisions, and friendly service. All the drinks were neatly organized which allowed me to select my choices more easily. One of the bartenders who stood out the most that night was named Anna and she accommodated every one of my needs efficiently and with grace. She even checked up on me from time to time when she had the chance and that was greatly appreciated. I will definitely recommend this place for any occasion really. What a blast that was.
We came on a Monday at around 3PM. They were really accommodating, the drinks were super expensive but the margaritas were half priced and the view was nice. Service was great. They even allowed us to bring my son up with our group since it was so dead at that hour. We always really appreciate that.
Wonderful spot to relax in the city. Amazing DJ, amazing employees. ‘Meghan, to be specific, was so fun and pleasant. She helped us and gave wonderful recommendations for drinks. She knew exactly the vibe my friends and I had and suggested drinks that went perfectly. Great atmosphere. Beautiful views. I will continue recommend this bar to all my friends, family, and colleagues.
Came here 3 times in the last 2 months. Thought it was an amazing place the first couple of times, but last night was an extremely terrible experience.Overall the place has a great ambiance and an amazing view! The bartenders are great, as well as the host staff! The bouncers on the other hand are not the best.. Spent over an hour and a half waiting on line outside from 12-1:30 because they refused to let people in through the line. They kept going to the back of the line and calling people over to pay them extra cash under the table to get in. In the hour and a half I waited on line, I saw this happen at least 10 times. I would’ve understood if they were holding up the line because there were too many guys inside but there were 2 large groups of girls waiting on the line right behind us that ended up leaving after being forced to wait an absurd amount of time. Also witnessed a small altercation between one of the bouncers and someone outside, not sure how that started but overall they are not the type to de-escalate a situation. At the end of the day, this is a great rooftop for the music, drinks + an amazing view as long you can get past the situation in the front.
We booked a table for 12 people, a week in advance, for a birthday party. When we showed up, we were given a table with 7 seats at it. We scavenged around the entire bar grabbing spare seats from other tables just so that our entire party could sit down, cramped as we still were. This is on top of the fact that there is a $40 per person minimum on this table, which is NOT LISTED ANYWHERE during the reservation booking process. I understand it is common practice, but unless it listed explicitly when making the reservation, it is quite the shady and unethical business practice to trap people into unwittingly paying more than they intended to.The overall ambience of the bar is loud and college-y, which is fine if that is your sort of thing. I will never fault an establishment for the choices it makes if the other clientele seem happy. What I WILL fault the Monarch Hotel Rooftop for, however, is double charging for drinks on our tab. We were charged for 2 of a drink when we ordered and received 1, and were charged for 4 of another drink when we ordered and received 3. If this were a cheap place I wouldnt care, but at these prices that is no small sum.Overall it was a very disappointing place to try and give someone a good birthday. It gave us a bad taste in the mouth for the rest of the evening, and made us feel cheated.
Went for a party on a Saturday night. The DJ was abismal. He played so many good songs but did the same techno beat behind every one. The upgrades in decor makes it a great place to come for small groups or large parties. But the seating is limited, so you might be standing/dancing the whole time. Cool venue, needs better music
This place was alright, but I would not go back. Very small venue with a lot of crowding... Also, they are incredibly short staffed and, while the bartenders are beautiful, their drink making skills are lacking. Also, their bass speakers are WAY too high. Music sounds incredibly distorted.
We purchased VIP passes for the thanksgiving day parade. We had a great view of the parade from inside and outside. We were extremely comfortable the food was great and they were amazing with the kids. If we went back to New York for the parade we would do this again for sure well worth the money!
Visited here Tuesday 14th January, could not recommend this place anymore. If you are in New York visiting the Monarch is a must! Was our last night out in NYC and was by far the best Service, Cocktails and Food we received the whole trip! Special mention to Kayla our host who was fantastic.Great bunch of people and will most definitely be back!
I booked a table for drinks on a Friday early evening. The table they initially placed us was not to my liking, too close to the entrance and almost no view. We waited at the bar until another table was free. We ended up staying at the bar, which was much more convenient to order drinks and food :-)The cocktails are expensive but so creative and tasteful. Great finger food as well. Good music, not too loud. AMAZING view of the ESB.
Visited on Tuesday at 5 PM with 5 of my friends. The bar is really nice and has great views. I was really disappointed in the $85 sangria pitcher. It didnt even come in an actual pitcher. The entire thing was FILLED with ice and you could see how watered down it was. On top of that, our glasses were already filled with ice. We asked our waitress to make us a new one without ice and she said it would be the exact same amount of sangria in it. We ended up keeping it and it did indeed taste like water. I wouldnt be this disappointed if it wasnt nearly $100.
They may have nice views but very discourteous staff and horrendously poor service ! They took our reservation for 9 but when we went they said there was a private party going on until 9.30 and since the party had paid more they couldn’t honor the reservation. !!!! .. To add to that the guy at the gate was extremely rude (almost abusive) when asked to check ... would help them to take a dive into ethics, courtesy, and customer reception !
Im a regular at this rooftop and always have an amazing time. Drinks are always on point w/ the absolute best views of the city. There are no rooftops of this size in midtown where youre not standing shoulder to shoulder next to everyone else; I hate feeling claustrophobic. I also had my engagement party here recently where everything went flawlessly. The GM Andrew was a pleasure to work with and he provides 5 star service. Also, to all the reviews about expensive prices... its a ridiculously nice rooftop right in midtown Manhattan. Im not sure what you expect but if youre going to complain about the prices then perhaps you should check out the dive bars in Murray Hill.
If I could leave no stars, I would. I went there last night with a group of friends and was completely talked down to by the bouncer. We stood in line for 30 minutes for the bathroom and when we walked out the bouncer said you are out! We were so taken back, we didnt do anything other than go to the bathroom. We asked to speak to a manager several times and they just said get the f*** out. Im not sure if they had us confused with someone else but regardless, to be spoken and treated that way was absolutely disgusting and completely unprofessional. Im a 100 lb female, there was absolutely no need to be so aggressive with me or my friends. Im extremely disappointed because we were having a great time and our waitress was very nice but the person directing the bathroom line and the elevators should be fired. It was a nice place and they completely ruined it for us. Dont go here.
Stopped in for what I hoped was a quiet drink after dinner on a Wednesday night. Instead we got a rather packed lounge with most of the other folk dressed to impress. More like a club, but with a lot of outdoor space and nice views. Dont go if youre expecting a quiet cocktail lounge, but quite nice for what it is.

2022-03-28Excellent venue. Great for a night out with friends as well as with your significant other. Extensive and creative cocktail list. Southbeach mojito is just like being in MIA again and the Snatched AF was delicious. If you can, ask for Bailey as your cocktail waitress. Great time and awesome views of the city and Empire State building!

2022-02-05This rooftop was definitely worth a visit! The vibe inside was very upscale and the view was incredible. Although during the winter, they have a clear tent set up that encloses the large majority of the roof. It’s decorated with plants and classy seating that almost gives you the feeling of being in a trendy greenhouse cafe. The DJ and dance floor had a good energy and incredible views of the Empire State Building.

2022-05-27By far, the best rooftop in NYC!!!!! I hosted a surprise 21st birthday here, and everything was just amazing. From the view, the food/drinks, and best of all, the service! HUGE SHOUTOUT to JOY, our server/hostess who took care of all of our needs throughout the entire night!! Thank you Monarch Rooftop for making my sisters birthday more incredible than my family and I could have imagined!

2021-12-28Loved this rooftop above all others during my visit to NY! Very tastefully decorated and cocktails are good as well. When we visited, there was a party for some company or something, so the DJ was playing and the music was good. The big downside is that you only book your way in, which doesnt include any tables/chairs. So basically you cant sit anywhere, as its all supposedly reserved. I dont remember that option on the website, so I guess you need to pay to be seated there. But all good. Your coat can be held for you for $5; cash only. Which you probably gonna need in winter, as again there are no chairs you can use. Make a reservation on their website otherwise Im not sure you can get in. For us, it was a perfect stop between bars, but we only spent there about an hour, as we decided to check out another bar where we could sit.

2022-06-22Great atmosphere and views. The staff are very friendly & professional. Good food and great drinks, not water down. It can get crowded. If the space was twice as large for more elbow room. I would have given it a 5 star.

2021-11-26Turned out to be one of a beautiful night in the city. It was Wednesday evening and the next day was thanksgiving, we hopped 2-3 bars and came out of disappointment as it was quiet and that’s unlikely to happen when you’re in New York. In disappointment we approached towards the path station, we were on 35th street and checked this rooftop was there. We have been there earlier and know they serve good drinks. Moreover as it was not too cold we just thought of going to the top and grab a drink. And to my surprise, yet again it was as lively it was a couple of years ago I went. Same vibes, same rocking crowd and amazing cocktails. I understood it very well now, Monarch is never going to disappoint me. I will visit soon.My followers, this rooftop is highly recommended. Cheers and happy thanksgiving! 🥂

2022-06-06Been coming here for many years because it’s always a vibe. Great spot to start or end your outing to meet friends/colleagues, celebrate an occasion, or take a date. It offers a bit of everything, from low-key lounge vibes with an amazing view of the empire state building, and an exciting dance floor over the night. My expectations are never let down regardless of when I walk in. The service and staff are always friendly and accommodating and respect their regulars. Love this place because they aren’t as pretentious and trying like most other rooftop lounges in the city. Shout out to Glen, Aaron, and of course my man Tony for always ensuring a great time for everyone involved.
