We love Monhagen Vet. Friendly staff and Dr. Josh is the best. He is professional and informative. He treats my pets as if they were his own Pets. I know my pets are in good hands with Monhagen Veterinary Hosp.
My 14 year old cat had her teeth cleaned here, I was concerned given her age. Blood work was done before she was given anesthesia, I was called and told she would be fine. The procedure went well, she ended up having a tooth pulled. She was groggy when she got home, by the next day she was her self again.
Ive had a lot of pets and a lot of vets due to moving, etc. I will never move again just so I can always go to Monhagen Vet Hospital. They are the most compassionate, friendliest vet group Ive ever gone to. They dont make you wait for appointments, they dont overschedule. The prices are reasonable. They are knowledgeable and very competent, immediately diagnosed my cat with her very serious illness. Prices are reasonable and they do not ever try to upsell as many vets do. The vet treated me like I was a long time client on my first visit. Love this vet hospital. Dr Hanel. You are amazing. Thank you.
AWFUL. Unfortunately I cant post a long review. Dr. Furman literally threw my dog on the floor to exam his laceration. He had no confidence it would heal nor survive anesthesia. What kind of vet are you? The older receptionist is rude, unfriendly and could care less. Dont be fooled. All they want is $$$
We love Dr. Furman and his staff. They are simply the BEST! We are never rushed, Josh and his staff take the time to spend time with us and our cats. He never rushes our visit.. We have been taking all of our kitties to him for the past 9 years. The whole staff was very caring and compassionate when we lost or Rosie unexpectedly 9 years ago, and they took such good care of our Graymatter when he was so sick from cancer 7 years ago. Now they take care of our kitties Gray-C and Yogi. They love Josh, and lounge on the table long after their exam is over, They dont try to run and hide. Josh has a way with animals, he is very kind and gentle and our babies pick up on that. We highly recommend Josh and his staff. Monhagan Veterinary Hospital is the BEST place for our precious pets. We have moved down to SC last summer, 2019 and wish we could still have Josh take care of our kitties but unfortunately, we are too far away to do that. This is how relaxed our Gray-C and Yogi have always been around Josh. This was taken in the exam room.
I took my dog of 13 years Java until he passed, I take my cat Willow and recently my new puppy. Best care in Hudson valley for all your vet needs. When my cat got a urine tract infection and trouble with kidneys. Mohegan vet treated her. Receptionist is amazing.
Dr. Furman has always been great with my animals and very compassionate when given hard news. Hes diagnosed my animals right away and kept them as comfy as they can be to live a long and full hally life.
This was about the best first visit with my dog ever! Everyone was very pleasant and my dog was treated with genuine care and affection. All my questions were answered as well.
Always very friendly, the staff are happy to answer questions with great depth of knowledge, and they genuinely care about the health and safety of your pets. Highly recommend using this veterinary establishment to care for your pets. We are soo happy and impressed with the veterinarian services that we received at Monhagen Veterinary Hospital. It was our rescue dog Jeffreys first time there, and he was quite nervous for his annual exam. Before we even got into the room, I noticed a sign that they had posted at a dogs eye level that was welcoming Jeffrey to the hospital. Jeffreys vet, Linda Hanel made Jeffrey feel as comfortable as possible during his exam and shots. She even got on the floor to trim Jeffreys nails along with the technician. Id highly recommend Monhagen Veterinary Hospital for its entire caring staff. We even traveled over an hour away to get here. Our old veterinarian clinic that we went to for over 20 years became too much because the vets were always leaving, as soon as your dog got use to one. The staff werent very professional and caring as well.
We have two dogs who both have lots of health concerns. We have seen every vet and probably every vet tech at this practice, and have never left feeling less than 100% satisfied. Even my anxious dog is not scared of going to the vet at all, thanks to the love and care everyone at Monhagen gives to each animal. Dr. Furman examines my dogs and the whole time they just think he is petting them! Despite their busy schedule, I am always able to get an appointment when I absolutely need one, and the practice is wonderful with communication. Having such a wonderful place to take my animals and feel confident in the care they are receiving is by far the best thing about living in Middletown.After reading the smattering of one and two star reviews on here, I feel compelled to mention that the vets here are ALWAYS very conscientious about finances when treating my pets. They always offer me multiple treatment options when possible, in case I am not able to afford every suggestion. They take a simple and conservative approach when it is appropriate in order to charge me less. Considering how expensive their schooling and training is, as well as how much more I paid on the one occasion I did need to take my dog to an emergency vet, I would say the prices are beyond reasonable and I never feel blindsided by the cost. Unfortunately, it can be expensive at times to own an animal, but this isn’t Monhagen’s fault in any way.I can’t recommend Monhagen highly enough; I would give them 100 more stars if I could.
I brought my puppy in today for her first visit. I cannot say express how happy I was. First the tech, Jessica, came in and explained everything, then the vet, Josh came in. He examined my puppy and answered all my questions. He was so caring and attentive to her and I. I never felt rushed. Everyone was very friendly and professional and the office was super clean. 10 stars!
My pet received excellent care during her emergency visit. Prices were better than my own vet, so I will be taken my dog here from now on.
Dr. Furman and his staff are outstanding! I wish I lived closer. This is the best veterinary office you will find anywhere in Orange County.
Josh is rhe best vet you will ever find. Him and his staff are friendly and caring. By far the best vet experiences i have ever had and i have had ALOT of pets over the years. They are honet truthful and caring. I highly recommend them.
I have so many great reasons to write this review. My cat suffered an injury to her tail this week. I called Monhagen Veterinary Hospital first thing Tuesday morning and they were able to get my cat in same day. Upon arrival Alex came out to my car and got all my paperwork to start us as a new patient. She then called us to come in and we were escorted right to the exam room. (Yes I was able to actually go in with my Honey cat! So glad they allow that since she was so scared and upset being there). Dr Hanel quickly came in and examined Honey and assured me that my cats tail wasn’t fractured and that it was a soft tissue injury. After a shot of steroids and some pain medicine to go home with and a lot of rest for Honey, 2 days later she is starting to act like herself again! I would highly recommend anyone with an animal to make an appointment at Monhagen Veterinary Hospital. You won’t be disappointed.
Dr. Furman and his staff are the absolute best around! My dogs love going to the vet! He has saved both my dogs and they treat the animals as their own!!!! Never can stress enough how amazing they are!!!!

This is a very nice place to bring your pets to receive high quality care. I usually bring my two dogs together to save a trip, but at times, it can be exhausting as one of them is a fluff ball, the other has anxiety and becomes a little over protective. I bring him in with a muzzle for everyone’s safety of course.For those of you that fear your pet will be turned away because of his aggression or anxiety, do not fear bringing them in. After 3 visits with my red heeler eyeballing Dr. Sauter’s every move, he finally gave in to his belly rub. I almost cried. Dr. Sauter has always been very sweet, but he wasn’t trying to hear her out.On my last visit, I had to bring him alone for his allergy shots, and he was a little hesitant, but finally gave in. He didn’t want the doctor to stop loving him. It was a little embarrassing, but internally satisfying that he felt so comfortable going to the clinic.It feels nice to take your pets to a place that welcomes them as family. It’s already stressful getting them in and out of the car, so when you come to an office for care, you expect not only quality service, but genuine care for your furry friends. If my crazy dog can roll over and beg for more rubs, then I’m sure after a few visits, you will feel at ease with the low stress atmosphere for your pets. My other fur child doesn’t count because he’s just a softy for everyone.There is parking, and I never have to wait over a minute to be called into the office. Your pets have free access to treats, and the added hugs and love that comes with the care.
Dr Furman is great with the dogs, his other associate however is horrible. Shes refused to see both of our dogs for separate incidents.. one was attacked by a dog and she was scared of our dog and refused to see her and made dr furman have to see her on a Sunday morning... and today she refused to see the other after he ate a possible lethal amount of chocolate, shes a cold hearted and horrible person and shouldnt be a veterinarian!
I brought it my small yorkie mix who has been to about 7 different vets in NYS. We warn every office how aggressive she gets and how she always needs a muzzle for examination. The vet lady appeared to have never ever handled an aggressive tiny dog. she look petrified (not even the groomers ive taken her to have been this scared) it was a short examination . After hearing her issue she was prescribed some pills and sent out the door. Vet barely touched her even muzzled. NOt sure how they handle the big scarey dogs that come in here.
I have 2 completely different dogs. One is a 7 year old pitbull who was abused and mistreated before being adopted, and doesn’t get along with most people/ dogs. When he sees Dr Josh, he jumps, tail wagging and smiles even after he had to get surgery here due to neglect and poor judgment from a previous vet. My other puppy, Scout who’s 11 months & as happy as can be, loves getting all the love (and treats) from the staff before seeing Dr Josh. The faculty is immaculate, updated and beautiful to even go into! Definitely recommend this place to anyone who ever needs a new vet or looking to switch! The response time to emails and even booking an appointment is prompt and all of the staff are friendly and welcoming! Dr Josh is hands down the most patient, caring, down to earth vet who cares not only for the animals but also for the owners by carefully explaining things. I really wish I could give Monhagen more than 5 starts, definitely the best veterinary facility!
My dog and I felt comfortable and were attended to in a professional, caring manner. I felt relieved to have found a great doctor and staff. I will definitely recommend Monhagen Vet. Finally I found a place that listened to my concerns and gave me resolutions that helped my dog. Monhagen Veterinary was recommended to me and now I will be the one recommending it to everyone else.
I changed vets about a year ago and came to Monhagen Veterinary Hospital. They were recommended by 3 different people I know. Couldnt be more satisfied from the moment I walked through the door. Receptionist are extremely pleasant and professional. place is beautiful. Nice fenced in yard for pets if you have to wait. But the main thing is Dr. Furman. He is a wonderful man who I knew immediately love animals. He got right down to Roxies level and made friends with her before examining her. She was a dog who had Lyme disease for over a year and was never told or treated. She is a totally new dog now who has so much energy and loves running with our other 2 pups. I would recommend this vet to anyone who has a pet that is part of your family! Never ever change Vets again after going here!!!!
My dog had been sick for the last few months. I was referred to them a few months ago as I was not happy with the care I was receiving from my previous vet. Between the specialists appointments I saw Dr. Furman and Dr. Hanel. They never made me feel rushed and always explained every option and course we could take. The staff was so kind and compassionate. The receptionists were amazing and accommodating in getting my dog in when ever she needed. In losing my dog I need to thank Dr. Furman and staff extremely from the bottom of my heart for getting her in last minute, for being so extremely kind, compassionate and empathetic. It is EXTREMELY difficult time and they were so comforting and empathetic through this difficult process.
So impressed. Recently switched Vets. Took our 4 Goldens for wellness checks and shots. Dr. Furman and staff were absolutely wonderful. Took time with each dog. They were all so attentive, kind and just awesome with all of them. Highly recommended.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST VET!!!! DO NOT GO! This Vet tried to KILL my Cat. The gave him not only the Wrong Food at $60 a bag, but they also gave him a food for the exact opposite Condition making his Mega Colon severe!!! The receptionist Danielle hung up on me because she refused to take responsibility for selling me his wrong Food. She also LIED and said that the Company did not make it anymore!!! Royal Canin does make it and were not on Back order. IF you love you Cat DO NOT go here!!!

It all starts at the front desk everyone is courteous, helpful and accommodating. The Drs truly care about your pets and only want to do whats best for them . When I felt it was time and I called to bring my little guy in to ease his suffering Dr Sauter was very compassionate to both Rocky and myself . It was the hardest thing Ive had to do in a long time but the way she was with him both caring and respectful made it bearable. It didnt end there , days later getting a card from the office offering condolences proved that they do really care.
Dr. Furman took the time, twice in one weekend, to discuss an emergency medical condition our cat was having. His straightforward, honest answers helped our family make the right decision for our cat, with peace of mind. He is a veterinarian that truly cares about animals and the people that love them.
Dr. Furman and his staff are knowledgeable, kind, caring and professional. We met the doc at the emergency vet on 211 before he opened his practice on Monhagen and were thrilled when he took over our old vets practice. He is the best! We moved 45 minutes away and make the drive for the veterinary care of our dogs. Theres no other way to say it - theyre the best!
I have two cats. Many times I have reached out to Monhagen Vet Hospital, they are always there for me! After hours, you will always get a call back in minutes. I have had an emergency and met Dr. Furman in 10 minutes at the office, he took care of my cat immediately and had a wonderful outcome! I have found the vet for my cats for the rest of their lives. Took my new cat here recently for a check up and her vaccinations. The staff was kind and friendly as well as very helpful! Dr. Furman was absolutely wonderful! He is very personable, intuitive towards animals and made and seemed my cat as well feel at complete ease. I will continue to use Dr. Furman and the Monhagen Vet Hospital for all of my cats needs!
While I have had multiple pets over many years, I currently have no pets to brag about. However, if I should find the right pet for me, I would head right back to Monhagen Veterinary! Dr. Furman is the best and has a wonderful, compassionate staff that compliments the entire operation of a professional animal hospital. I miss seeing everyone!!

I leave not only knowing he has been well cared for but also like I have the best pet in the world. I cant imagine being anywhere else:)
I moved to this area 10 years ago and am so happy that I found Monhagen Vet. From the moment you walk in the experience is exceptional. The office is immaculate and the care my dogs have received is second to none. Dr. Furman is thorough, knowledgeable and informative; you can tell that he truly cares about his clients and their pets. On our last visit he even took the time to make my 5 year old daughter feel part of the process with her puppy and answered all of her questions. He and the entire staff are truly wonderful.
I love Monhagen Veterinary Hospital. I think Kathy is a great asset to Dr Fuhrman and his friendly caring staff. I have read some of the reviews that have said otherwise but I have always found Kathy to be knowledgeable, professional, friendly and an all-around great person and animal lover. To me it is very important that the bedside manner at s hospital be equally as important as their experience and their medicine. That is why I come to Monhagen. People here really care and welcome you and your pet with open arms. Sure it is expensive but I believe that owning an animal is expensive and a responsibility that we need to expect if we are going to be pet parents. Frankly if the hospital was very cheap I would have second thoughts as to why. My appointment with my Polly is this Tuesday and I am looking forward to seeing everybody there.
The veterinarians and staff are the absolute best. I have complete trust in them. The level of care provided is consistently top rate. The facility is always clean and accessible. I love the fact that they have taken in stray cats as pets. It shows how truly compassionate and caring they are.
The staff are the nicest, courteous people you will find! They treat you and your pet with respect, and Kathy seems to always remember your pet! Dr Josh is kind and caring, never rushes through an exam. He will call you personally with any test results and explain them. Whenever you call to talk to him he will personally return your call. Other vets I have dealt with have the staff talk with you on the phone and havent a clue how to answer your questions. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

Best vet we have ever been too. Many vets are becoming corporate and getting bought out so all they think about is the bottom dollar. Josh is excellent, explains things very well and takes his time to make sure your animals are cared for. The staff is very nice and pleasant. I have had to many animals to count over the years ranging from reptiles to dogs to barn animals and have been to many vets. Very pleased with Josh and would highly recommend them to anyone else thats tired of the same old money hungry corporate offices.
I am so happy and so is my dog Nico .. Dr . Furman is an excellent vet . The staff at Mohegan veterinarian r so nice . My dog went in for the first time April 24 2020 w very itchy skin . I am happy to say the cytopoint injection helped tremendously for his itchy skin .. Nico is much happier .. Doctor Josh Furman is the best! He has been compassionate and explains everything to us about our diabetic dog. We are very happy we came to him when our previous vet was not doing a great job helping us to deal with our dogs medical issues. Highly recommended!

We had some complex behavioral issues with our pet and Dr. Furman worked with us to try many solution options. Monhagen Veterinary Hospital has been nothing but fantastic to us. Our miniature schnauzer was attacked by 3 large dogs one night and we were able to get a hold of Dr. Josh Furman for assistance immediately. Josh went out of his way to meet us at his office after hours and stitched up our boy who has fully healed with no visible scars.The staff in general is extremely friendly and helpful. They make you feel like your pets are as much family to them as they are to you. We now have a 2nd pet in our family that just visited the office. We love Monhagen Veterinary Hospital! We moved to Orange County 3 years ago. Our family had a 11 year old pitbull mix, who we loved dearly. Our previous vet was amazing, so we had high expectations for our next vet. Monhagen did not disappoint. Dr. Hanel was wonderful through our pups entire care until he passed away. The entire staff, including Dr. Hanel, Cathy, Leah and Dr. Furman, were so kind to us during every visit, which there were a lot of at his age. I will never forget their kindess throughout his care. I especially appreciated the way they cared for all of us on the day he passed away. They made a very sad day a bit less painful and we are so thankful.We decided to rescue another pup shortly after. Our home was just too quiet. Monhagen has been just as wonderful with new pup as well. Adjustment to his new home was not so easy for our boy and that was hard on us. We thought he has a great home. Everything he could want. Why is he so nervous? Dr. Hanel and Leah were so helpful with helping our pup adjust and giving us advice and tools to make the process easier. Thankful, with their help, he is adjusting nicely now.Monhagen helped us through some of the harder parts of being a pet owner. Everyone who works there is comforting, kind and informative. Whenever Dr. Hanel or Leah gave us options for care I never felt pushed towards the most expensive option. I really feel like they are looking out for what is best for our pup. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Ive just moved to the area with my puppy, who got sick last week. I didnt have a vet yet, but I read good things about Monhagen Veterinary Hospital. I was pleased to be given an appointment the day of, as thats not always possible at many vets. However, when I met with one of the vets, they seemed pretty apathetic about our appointment. I actually felt like they were being condescending toward me for bringing in my sick dog because he didnt seem to have anything wrong with him in that moment. My dog is still a puppy (my first puppy), so I was hoping for more help and understanding than that. I was then told I could call the next day if I decided I wanted to try antibiotics.The next day, my pup was still sick (frequently choking and sneezing), so I called the receptionist to request the antibiotics that had been mentioned during my appointment. When the antibiotics were picked up, neither the doctor nor the receptionist explained their use or side effects to me (which is really unusual, I feel, compared to my past vet experiences). Throughout this week of being on antibiotics, the doctor did not call to ask how my dog was doing with the meds or to check-in in any capacity.Maybe Ive been spoiled in the past, but I thought it was common practice to check in on your furry patients, especially when the medicine theyve been given was never actually explained to the owner (though, I did a lot of online research of my own before dosing my dog).I realize not everyday can be a good day for a business, but I will likely take my dog elsewhere in the future.
Dr. Furman is not only an outstanding and highly competent veterinarian, he is also kind, compassionate, and personable. He gives you the feeling that he takes care of your pets as if they are his own, and from our experience, he truly does. His staff is also kind, compassionate, and very professional. Once you have been going there for awhile, it feels as if they are family. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Dr. Josh Furman!
An AWESOME place all around!From the professional appearance to the dedicated Dr. Furman and the incredibly pleasant staff.My family and I have been bringing all of our pets to see Doc or one of the other vets at Monhagen Veterinary Hospital for over ten years now.Everyone from Cathy, that either greets you at the door or answers your phone call, right on up to Doc are dedicated to caring for your pet. I have had my phone call regarding a sick pet returned late at night and even had arrangements made so that I could get medicine for our dog when the hospital was closed.They go the extra mile and do so without a fuss.Before anyone thinks that this is a BS review and clearly unrealistic, I want to address the prices at Monhagen Veterinary Hospital. I have read a few reviews where the person claimed that the prices were high. I want to be clear that while I am not saying that the prices are low, I believe that the prices are comparable to other Vets and more than fair.This may be a long review but there really isnt enough that I can say in this small a space about Monhagen Veterinary Hospital.Oh, one last thing, my family and I now live in Delaware county. It is at least an hours drive from Monhagen Veterinary Hospital and we STILL take our pets (3 dogs, 7 cats) to see Josh Furman whenever they need veterinary care.
The staff are always friendly, on time, and very informative. They know my boys the second I walk in the door. They are good about reminders for appointments and medications, etc with emails and calls. Ive never had to wait and my concerns are always taken care of. Both doctors as well as the techs and receptionists are all very knowledgable. I would highly recommend that anyone bring their pets here.
Dr. Furman and staff always take great care of us! They are friendly, kind, caring, and treat all their patients like part of the family. They successfully helped heal our dogs broken leg - without surgery - and we will be forever greatful! Highly recommended!

Just wanted to update last years 5 star review. Now I have 3 one year olds and one 4 year old. Dr. Linda Hanel continues to give outstanding care to all of my cats. She remembers their names and personal issues. Who could not love a vet who treats your cats with love, hugs and kisses. Dr. Furhman knows my cats from several late night and Sunday panicked calls. He gives great phone. I was beside myself when my little girl was spitting up blood. He walked through my day and we figured out Finley was eating my doggie bag chicken parmesan! Kathleen works miracles with the schedule to get me in and give me an estimate so I can match my time frame with my budget. They do not believe in over medication. Their facility is always clean and their assistants are loving and competent. It is always a pleasant experience. I am so glad I found them from my friends and neighbors. There are much closer DVMs but their reputations are not even close. Drive a little further from Masten Lake and assure that your animal family gets the love, experience and knowledgeable care they deserve. Thank you Monahagen! I have been going to them for years and trust them completely. They are ultra-competent, and all of their care is motivated by a deep love of animals. I appreciate too they understand that, as pet-owners, we go to them with our furry family members wanting them best for them. They give it!
I came in a while ago and told her my cat was throwing up and she told me to come in with a BM sample and she gave him shots. I then get a call saying there is nothing wrong with him. But he has been throwing up none stop
Took compassionate care of all 3 of our Brittanys. Were now on our 4th and would never even consider anyone else! We looooove Josh. I have told perfect strangers that if they take their pets to Josh and arent 1000% thrilled, Ill pay the bill! Just the best. No other vet comes close! The team is amazing. As you walk through the door you are greeted with a giant smile and professionalism. Josh and Linda have given me precise care for my Jeter! 2 years and counting they haven’t missed a beat. Would recommend 10/10.
Both doctors and staff always make me feel like they LISTEN to my concerns, have time to answer any questions and really care about my fur babies and me! Going there is like visiting family. Also, emergency calls after hours are always promptly returned. Who could ask for more?
Weve been bringing our pets here for decades now (since sickmiller was there). Ive very rarely had an issue with any staff member (The main one I can think of is that the receptionist can be rude- but ive noticed lately her attitutde seems better than its been so I wonder if shes been made aware of it, as I know this is the main complaint for anyone I know who uses this office). Both vets in this office have seen our pets and I find them to be kind, caring and respectful. A few months ago one of our dogs got very sick (lyme, despite the use of flea/tick medicine) despite the vaccine too- which ive now been told that they can still get lyme with the vaccine but it will slow it down. Anyway, we were given a bunch of things to take home meds and other treatments to use on our dogs- it was expensive but I though if it could help, I would do it. I just wish the vet had told me what the odds were of it helping (turns out very slim) as I might have made the tough choice I had to make a week later right then to end her suffering- we ended up having to take her on a holiday weekend elsewhere ( I did call and the service and was called back in a timely manner by Josh, but understandably due to the poor timing he could not come in and do it himself) to have her put to sleep as she was in full kidney failure at that point and would no longer eat or drink. This, the not knowing the odds of that actually helping ( I think the false hope really hurt my husband yet helped break him into his favorite dog passing at the same time), are probably my only complaint about the vets I can think of for the last few decades of going there. The femal vet (who I rarely see) was great with my cat a few months back where we had an issue and I was worried we might have to put her down also. Thankfully, with the right, and rare diagnosis, and medication shes been ok! Shell need these meds every month for life but its worth it.
I have been taking my pets to Monhagen Veterinary for 10 years. Dr. Furman and his staff are the most educated and caring team and have always been there for my pets, morning, noon or middle of the night. Each and every employee have shown me kindness and compassion. Dr. Furman also saved my Logan when he bloated. Josh, you are #1 in my book! My dog was showing signs of Lyme disease again and we called first thing in the morning and Dr Hanel took him in right away! He did test positive and was put on the meds right away. Within 12 hours he was back to his normal self! We’re thankful for the fast treatment provided to our fur baby! 😊

The staff at Monhagen treat you like family. I first started coming here when I adopted my Molly in 2012 and they have taken superb care of her ever since. They were even there for her in the middle of the night when we had an emergency to guide us in the right direction. Couldnt ask for a better place to care for my baby.
The employees at Monhagen are caring and compassionate. They gave me a same day appointment for the injured abandoned kitten that came into my life, and they charged VERY reasonable rates compared to other vets in the area. Now, two months later, Peppercorn is doing great!
We love Dr. Furman and his entire team. They treat us and our 3 dogs like family. They are knowledgeable about all available treatments for whatever we need. Dr. Furman is especially helpful with our senior dog making sure we have the tools and treatments to keep him feeling like a puppy 😊. We recommend Dr. Furman to everyone!
Dr. Linda Hanel always remembers my cats and my family. They adore her. Dr. Furhman only knew me by telephone but was extremely helpful in making my cats more comfortable. When i brought a new kitten in they made sure i had a clear understanding of exactly what innoculations, procedures and fees would be due when so i had a clear plan for her health and my budget. They were extremely flexible with their time to help with my work schedule. We will be coming here for years to come. I always look forward to knowing my cats are in loving and competent hands. In time i came to learn that everyone in my neighborhood uses Monahagen as well even though we are 30 minutes away.
We have been looking for a new vet after many years at our last vet. Monhagen came very highly recommended by friends. Cole approached the outside and was very calm ( for Cole ) and once inside he was the same. Our last vet he trembled the whole time. We are all comfortable here. Thank you 👍 ☺

My regular veterinarian was out of town when my Doberman Roxanne became ill. I called Monhagen, They made an appointment to see her immediately. She was treated, temporarily put on a special diet and made comfortable. The staff at the front desk and the vet that treated Roxanne were extremely professional, caring and very welcoming! I would highly recommend Monhagen Veterinary Hospital.
I am so glad to have found Monhagen Veterinary Hospital. The doctors and staff are excellent. The place is clean and very welcoming. My two cats are properly taken care of each time we visit and we would not take them anywhere else.
I have always received excellent service at Monhagen Veterinary. My babies(smile) pets have no fear about going there. I dont know if perhaps there is a new receptionist but the one I usually spoke with was exceptionally pleasant and patient also. I wish he also treated parrots so I would not have to go so far to have them seen.

Super professional, friendly, compassionate and knowledgeable! I started bringing my dog (Tallulah) there a few years ago and wouldnt have brought her anywhere else. She actually got very sick and acquired a number of different serious illnesses requiring a very specialized (outside) vet/services and Monhagen vets and also of the staff was still there with us supporting. They were always available to answer questions, for second opinions and to help in any way that they could. When Tallulah lost her fight in April they were super compassionate and thoughtful. I have since gotten cats; I trust Monhagen Vetinary Hospital completely and they will continue to be our vetinary hospital of choice!

I cant say enough wonderful things about Dr. Furman and the staff at Monhagen Veterinary Hospital. Most recently I brought my dog Jake in for several swollen glands that developed suddenly over the weekend. I called Monday morning and the staff was kind enough to make an appointment to have Jake seen later the same morning. Dr. Furman as always thoroughly examined Jake with compassion, developed a plan of care, answered all of my questions and eased all of my pet mom fears. He called two days later with test results and to check on Jake! Everyone at Monhagen Veterinary Hospital is wonderful and I would highly recommend them! Doctor Furman helped us out tremendously by advising us on some difficulties that we were having with one of our dogs, based on some similar problems that he had with one of his own dogs. Doctor Furman was very understanding of our situation and with our dog that he had been treating for about 6 years. His advice led us to making what we still feel was the best solution and we are thankful for his advice.
Dr. Furman always remembered our family and our dog! It is very obvious that the staff cares deeply for animals. We recently relocated to Georgia and are going to miss the personal care we received.When we needed our dogs health records and requested them, they were send within 24 hours via e-mail. What a wonderful surprise. We just moved to the area and needed to find a new doctor for our 2 Westies. Monhagen was recommended to me by a few people so I made the appointment and crossed my fingers.I couldnt be happier!! The kindness of the staff and the genuine care that everyone gave us was off the charts.
Dr. Furman is the most knowledgable vet I have ever had for my German Sheperds and mixed breeds. He reminds me of the dog whisperer, as he knows how to make the dogs comfortable in his presence and is always reassuring, to both human and dog! Best doc around!
Dr. Furman and all the staff are extremely caring and reassuring. I usually go in with a good idea of whats going on with my pup and Dr furman always takes the time to talk to me about every little detail and figure out whats best for him. .I dont ever hesitate if I have to spend alot because I know these people will not rip me off or give me anything I dont need. I agree with another reviewer that this animal hospital is concerned with money. I found the Vet tech to be less than thorough in her initial observation of my cat and in documenting my underlying concerns. Dr. Furman seemed nice, however, he also seemed to not have any idea of what was going on with my cat and why she was not eating and throwing up. He just started talking about tests, and mentioned the cost of each test, $300 for this one, and $200 for that one. My bill came to $335 dollars, which I had to scrape together by the end of their business day, unless the Vet tech/Office Manager said they would not submit my cats blood-work. I paid the very large bill, and my cat did not improve much for days to follow, still was not eating. Dr. Furman then recommended I give my cat a liquid diet drink and he said he would leave some for me to pick up. I thought maybe after paying such a large bill, he would give me a can of liquid diet that he recommended. But there was a charge for that as well. Another $18. Making my bill $350, and I still have concerns my cat is not all better, so I have now made an appointment with another Veterinarian.
Absolutely love Dr. Furman and his entire staff. You can always tell when someone loves their job and it is obvious that everyone here does. The empathy that they show when there are issues, the patience they take when asking questions makes all the difference in the world. Thank you all for everything that you do. As long as I have pets and live in the area, this will be the ONLY vet we will go to!
We just moved to the area and made an amazing decision coming here with our pets. The staff is amazing and caring, and doctor as well. Its great to find a place that makes you and your pets feel special, and that you trust will be there anytime you need them. I was so worried about finding a vet and am so glad I did my research and came here first.
Great place for your pet. Staff is great friendly and polite. Prices are average depending on what your getting done. Office is clean and plenty of room to sit parking is no issue. Easy to find definitely worth checking out if your looking for a veterinarian for your pet.
Dr. Hanel-Sautter is wonderful. She is always patient and detailed when it comes to my dogs health. Whenever Ive had to make an emergency appointment, the office tries their best to see my dog. I appreciate Dr. Hanel-Sautters patience and care for Lucy.

Let me start with, Dr.Furman is THE BEST! He always takes his time with me and my precious dog Diamond.The staff, too, are always there for us.I was very surprised to read a few negative reviews on this site.. Than again, cant please everyone..Re: the cost of Monhagen Vet Hospital, in my opinion, vets are all pricey. When I decided to adopt my Diamond, and the 2 dogs I had before her, I had to weigh the joy of Pet Ownership with any expenses, and not just monetarily.I CHOSE to accept all the responsibilities that go along with Having my precious animals by my side. It simply goes with the territory.Bottom line is, Im so glad to have found Dr. Furman and his staff.. Id been traveling 30mins. to a vet id used for many years so it was a bit difficult to switch. Having make this change about 2 years ago, I KNOW it was the right decision!

THE BEST! On vacation 700 miles away and our dog got sick. Of course it was a Saturday afternoon after hours. Our daughter insistedYOU CALL DR. JOSH .As luck would have it Dr. Furman was on call. Hes been taking care of our 22 month old from a puppy and knew his medical condition. He called us within MINUTES . Went over the issues and he told us what to feed him to get him straightened out so we could make the trip home. The next day he was on the mend. The compassion this Office has is outstanding!
Dr. Biolsi is awesome! My pit bull mix had skin allergies for years, and we had tried everything. When I switched to Monhagen they were able to help. He has been off of steroids for almost two years. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

I do wish more written information was given upon discharge, however. My apologies for my over-reaction, and thank you for all of the information you provided in your reply..Original, overly harsh review:$200 to tell us that theres nothing wrong with my kitten. She is limping, growling when touched, clearly has an injury to her leg/foot. Misspelled my cats name. Wrote down 4 years old, even though she is just over a year old.
I totally trust Josh Furman with my animals. He made me feel safe with the hard decisions of things that happen when dogs get older. He gave me better answers than two other vets and explanations. Thank you!!!
Ive been very torn writing this review honestly. It happened almost half a year ago with my cat and others have positive reviews about this place. However, my cat died from what they gave me.I brought my cat in because it sounded like she had an infection in her lungs. I brought my other cat here for an eye infection and she was fine. He looked at her amd did an x-ray and saw white specks in her lungs but mind you HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS. So instead of doing another test for further examination he gave my baby girl steroids. Large dosages for something he did not have a full grasp of what it was..Long story short, my cat has a massive seizer and died.Im writing this review because the doctor should have done more testing OTHER than an xray for her lungs and then prescribed me hard steroids that she had to take two times that day( overdosed). He even said oh it could just be allergies but I dont really know. STEROIDS KILL CATS.just PLEASE if you bring your cat be on guard and make sure THEY ARE ACTUALLY DIAGNOSED!!!!!I am NEVER coming here again. my poor girl...

After years of Dr Furhman giving our dog meds he did not need he suggested we put our dog down. He has lived 5 years and is very healthy now. Do not trust this man, he only wants your prolonged money.

It was my daughters birthday and she found a cat crawling out of a ditch that must have been hit by a car. She called Monhagen Veterinary Hospital and they told her that she would have to contact animal control and the police. Well neither of them came and this hospital refused to treat a injured animal. How inhuman can they be! It is beyond my belief how they would do nothing for an injured animal. If this is the way they treat an animal in much need of emergency care do honestly believe they are really helping your animals on a regular basis. Please think about the care your animal is actually receiving or is it all about the money for them.My suggestion is contact the Emergency Hospital in Middletown on Route 211 they showed love and compassion for this animal. They immediately took this animal in without reservation.

It was after hours on a Friday night and our beloved Lisa took a turn for the worst. I knew it was time. Dr. Furman came back to the hospital to take Lisa out of pain and help her pass. This was an act I will forever be grateful. Dr. Furman showed compassion for both me and my kitty Lisa.
The vets are great...kind, patient, and really care. The receptionist leaves something to be desired though- she can be very rude and condescending...Ive wanted to switch vets just due to her. If it werent for the fact the vets were so great I would.

Having had dogs in my home for all of my 57 years, this is the best Vet Hospital I have ever been to. A very kind and caring staff, clean facility and great vets.
I needed an emergency visit for my cat who was sick well they couldnt give me an appointment but sent me to the other office in scotchtown. Took him in that afternoon they kept him over night to run test and do xrays called the next day saying I could take him home but couldnt tell me what was wrong with him charged me almost $1,000.00 and told me to bring him back the next to check his teeth. well he passed away during the night.Get a called the next day asking how he was doing I tell them he didnt make it the reply was would you like us to take care of his body.WHAT didnt you get enough money from me ? I still never got an answer as to what might have been wrong with him.So I payed out all that money no answers and no cat.

I brought my special needs dog here from another vet which Ive used since was a pup but being very unhappy.My daughter also transferred her dog and was quite happy.Our first appointment I was very pleased everyone was very nice and her vet was patient and gave her the attention she deserved she took the time needed to start a relationship with her.I will definitely recommend this practice to everyone.

My very first visit, and i was so impressed. The office is big and clean, with a nice country atmosphere. Then i saw there was a Welcome Sign with my dogs name on it, along with other new patients names... Very cute. And the girls i encountered working there were very nice and professional.And then i met Dr. Simpson and she was just fabulous. She was attentive, and understanding, and totally HandsOn with my dog, which are exactly the things my Old Vet was not. I wish i had made the switch sooner, to be honest. I will be bringing my entire Fur Family here from now on.

2022-02-09All of the staff at Monhagen were so friendly from the moment we walked in the door. Dr Simpson was very sweet and comforting with my scared puppy, and answered any questions I had. I didn’t feel rushed at all, from filling out paperwork to the time in the exam room. I had concerns with certain medications for my pup because of potential gene issues due to her breed and she understood and offered safer treatments. She was very well knowledgeable, and I appreciated her honesty when she wasn’t certain about the one medication and it’s safety with potential genetic conditions as there hasn’t been enough studies and she hasn’t personally done enough research. 10/10 recommend! Willow will definitely be a patient of theirs for her entire life!

2022-02-24Our Moose was off for a few weeks: not eating, vomiting, lethargic. I brought him in to Dr. Furman who weve been going to for about a year for routine check ups with both our dogs. He could feel right away there was something in his stomach and recommended x-rays and later a specialist for an ultrasound. We discovered Moose had swallowed a foreign object (piece of a Kong ball). Dr. Furman went above and beyond to squeeze us in for surgery the next day! 2022-01-27Ive been coming to Monhagen for years for 2 different pets. All the employees here are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and most importantly, good with cats and dogs (cant speak about other animals since thats all Ive had). Vets are always available to answer questions and quell worries over the phone.My rescue dog went through heartworm treatment here and was successfully treated. It was a long and sometimes stressful process for myself and my dog, but Im glad she was in good hands.

2022-05-16I had an appt. today to bring my new puppy In for a check up but u fortunately he was sick with pneumonia!Dr. Simpson came in and went over everything with me and away to treat this. My little guy got fluids,he received a shot to stimulate his appetite and food that he would be almost guaranteed to eat! By the time I arrived home he was hungry and ate and drank, then he started playing. I would never imagine a puppy could make that fast of a turn around, but to tell you how happy I was is unbelievable. He stayed up a few hours playing, barking and having fun! I was over the moon with joy to see this!I hope tonight and tomorrow he’s the same.I am very grateful for Dr. Simpson and her staff! Thank you so much for helping my little guy feel good again! Hope I’m not back tomorrow for more fluids! Thank you again!

2022-02-28My cat and I were allowed to enter the building upon arrival. There was no wait time. The secretary greeted me politely. We entered the patient room immediately. The medical assistant entered within two minutes. She was friendly. The veterinarian, Dr. Furman, was friendly. We were in for an annual checkup and vaccines. The doctor was gentle with my cat and got the shots done without an issue. The cost of vaccines and service came to less than $200.

2022-02-07We have trusted Dr. Furman and Dr. Hanel with our dogs for the past 10+ years. Our dogs always receive excellent care and we receive comprehensive advice with every visit, whether it be during a routine check-up or a procedure. The entire staff is kind, caring, and attentive, and this is why we travel from an hour away just to have our dogs remain under Monhagen Veterinarys care.

2021-08-02I moved to Middletown 6 yrs ago. Tried a few different Veterinary offices. My boy is extremely sensitive. He has been treated with love and kindness. By myself and my family. I except the same from his healthcare provider. I feel as I get that here at Monhagen Veterinary. Always super nice and commutative . We have many more camping and hiking trips to do. I need to know his healthcare is solid and I do now. Thank you all for caring for my boy Zaggy!

2022-05-28Great place to take you pet for preventive and medical needs. They took Linus Nd I right away into the exam room and Dr. Handel took care of Linus . She was able to give Linus 3 injections and nail clipping and it seemed to not even phase him. Wow I was impressed .Very high recommend Monsghagen.

2022-02-13We Love the whole staff at Monhagen veterinary. Dr. Linda Hanel Sautter always shows my Ellie such care and love for her. And after taking her time checking Ellie, she takes her time explaining everything to me. It’s great to have a place to bring your pet that gets the treatment,care, and love.
