I went in needing a tire sensor reset. I was very frustrated because no one seemed to be able to figure out why it was not working. The service Tech at Monro figured out the sensor was defective. They took it out, replaced it and I was able to return the defective one where I originally purchased it. It was a very busy time there and I did have to wait a bit but it was well worth it. The Manager and technicians are very kind and helpful. I definitely will return!!
Came in on Sunday and was told by assistant mgr steve I he was too busy and couldn’t take me in. There were 2 guys working and 3 cars in garage. I watched from parking lot while this guy sat in his chair smoking and talking on on his cell phone. He is a joke and lost my business forever
I came in this afternoon and it was very busy.i didnt think I was going to be able to get in. When I walked in the door there was 7 or 8 people inside and everyone was talking and laughing. I met the new manager named Andy and he was in the middle taking and shaking hands with everyone. This place is NIGHT and DAY under the new Management. He moved people in and out very organized and very quickly yet professionally. This is by far the best shop in town!
Brought my car in there multiple times prior to switching mechanics. Management was extremely rude (Steve). I am sorry, but what is the point of having a rude manager as an employee? Isn’t one of the points of a manager is to be friendly and welcoming to customers? Isn’t a manager supposed to teach his employees to be nice and welcoming to customers? Don’t you want your customers to come back? I WILL NOT BE RETURNING! Grand Island Automotive inc. treats their customers far better and does a great job at their work. Tootles, way to lose business!
It’s not worth your time or money going to this location. The manager is rude and there have been two separate times that I have made an appointment with him that was never put into their system and was turned away when I showed up because of it.EDIT: bumped the rating up to 3 stars. The situation was handled professionally and for that I was happy. Hopefully going forward they will make sure they put their appointments in the computer correctly, even for small jobs, so this doesn’t happen again.
Less expensive than Pep Boys and greater availability. They get you in and out pretty fast. The free courtesy inspection with service is also helpful. I once had a problem when I scheduled work with one rep only to be told by another rep upon arrival that they werent equipped to do the work and it shouldnt have been scheduled in the first place. After some consulting between the two, they decided that they could do the work after all. Not sure what that was all about, but they did it fast and at a reasonable price so I dont much care. I will go there again.
I went in for what I thought was a simple inspection, unfortunately it turned out that my brake pads were in severe need of being replaced. I had taken a break at work and had to return, But my sticker would have been scraped leaving me with a non-inspected car. The manager jumped in and got the entire thing done in 30 minutes allowing me to make it back to work on time. On top of that you cant beat their prices, according to mechanically inclined father - I wouldnt have gotten that deal anywhere else. Ive been going here for 7 years and have never once been disappointed. I highly recommend, especially to those that are unfamiliar to the vehicle repair world like myself. *After reading other reviews in regards to the necessity of the repair, I instantly felt how much better my brakes were and agreed that it definitely was required
I love this place. I hate dealing with car issues, even routine oil changes. This Monro service business is great. The guys are friendly, knowledgeable and quick. I had an oil change done in less than half an hour. I just had a car inspection completed in 15 minutes! Wow. I would recommend them. They are straight forward about issues you might need to deal with in the future as well as giving you options to consider. I like the way they do business. They dont push or try to find things wrong with your car to add to the service bill like other places Ive dealt with. They go above and beyond the usual to help you save money and get the service you need. They really care. Ill continue to bring my car here as long as they continue their great service.
If I could put a zero I would. This place is a rip off! They charge you for things that do not fix the problem your having. Then suggest another part and then another. Its either a rack up the bill for sales or they are clueless to fixing problems. I got an oil change and instead of cashing me out, he took the cash I gave him and threw it into a drawer that stored some office supplies or something. It was the top drawer to the left of register. So basically he more than likely kept it. Really honest employees are hard to come by.
Just my experience: My first appointment months back to get my oil changed took almost 2 hours, with no warning. I made an appointment last week to get my car inspected. After waiting 45 minutes, someone came and told me they cant do it today. No problem, I rescheduled for a week later. Show up to my next appointment, the guy asks me if Im dropping it off. I ask if I can wait there because Im not from the area and I dont have anyone to pick me up. He says Well its going to be a few hours. And asks if I want to reschedule again. No thanks! The guys seem nice there, but I wish I got a heads up before driving out there that there would be an extensive wait.
Ryan is fantastic. There has never been a time when I called and asked if I could come in same day for simpler work, like an oil change or inspection and have been turned away.Most places at default will schedule you out for a later date, even if Ryan and the shop is busy he will try and fit you in and make decision to honor his scheduled appointments and still get to you.Ryan in particular is straight forward and honest and also approachable and friendly.Needless to say I will be going there for all the car servicing that they offer.
My car broke down in the middle of a through way and the breakdown service brought me to this workshop.The people here helped me immediately, were super nice and offered a shuttle service.Besides that they immediately started to fix my car they did a great work for a fair price.I would recommend to get your car fixed here.
Made an appointment to change over to my winter tires. Easy enough, so I thought. Man at the counter who was NOT wearing a mask said it would take several hours and I should leave it another day. Seeing as I can do it myself in my garage with no power tools in about an hour, I dont see how thats possible.I understand getting backed up with work but it seemed like making an appointment was pointless. If I have to leave my car all day, Ill just go to my regular mechanic.And again, I cant believe that one wouldnt be wearing a mask at the front desk in the middle of a pandemic.
We go to Monro Auto Service in Grand Island frequently for a variety of our car servicing needs. We have always received professional service with a smile. Our most recent experience was with John, who was a very helpful mechanic. We greatly appreciate their professional work and would recommend going there.
I’ve been coming here the past two years to get my oil changed. They always are very friendly and get me in and out super quickly. Also, I love they do routine checks on my vehicle to make sure everything else is working properly. Ryan does a great job explaining everything.
Pulled up for an inspection, guy said yea I can do that...give me 10 minutes, I have 1 person in front of you... They have both been in the office talking for the past hour and no work is being done at all in the shop.. avoid this place for sure...what a joke..thats not how you do business...
I arrived for a service on my subaru (oil change general check over) was brought to my attention that my brakes had come due to be replaced. Steve was prompt with suggesting the best parts for my vehichle. I didnt feel pressured to purchase anything. A very comforting feeling in todays age. I went ahead and had the service done. My brakes were replaced in a very timely manner. Super pleased with Chaz and Steve. I would highly recommend this location for all your maitenece and repair needs!
Ryan and his team have done a magnificent job on multiple occasions fitting me in short notice, diagnosing the root of any vehicle problems I’ve had, and addressed them in a timely manner.Ryan also has offered to give me a ride home while his team was working on a project that would take more than a couple hours, which is of course not something they’re required to offer.They’re fantastic, I recommend them to anyone who would like to take the stress and difficulty out of car troubles; they’ll be straight up with you, play no games, and provide wonderful service.
I need a tire plugged and I had called five shops before them. The others said next week as if I wasnt clear about the problem. The tire had a leak and needed a plug. I couldnt wait because it was losing air. I call monroe finally and they said bring it right in. I was there for all of a half hour and they had it done. Excellent fast service. Will definitely go here again
Monroe on Grand Island is awesome! Ryan will go the extra mile for you and do what ever it takes to make you satisfied! The rest of the staff, is super friendly and always treats you with respect. Prices are reasonable. I don’t take my car any where else for the services they offer!
Dealt mainly with Ryan (who I think is the manager there). He had a great demeanor, was courteous and efficient. I feel like the prices there are reasonable, and they got me in and out in the appropriate amount of time for what i was having done. I will definitely be back in the future.
AVOID!!Ive had my brand new car serviced there for 3 appointments.1- oil change and tire rotation2- inspection and tire rotation3- oil change and tire rotation.My vehicle has 18,000 and I’ll let you determine if I EVER got my tires rotated by them during any visits. When I noticed the baldness on the tires after my last visit I called to talk to the new manager steve. He was worthless and said he couldn’t rotate my tires because the bad tread Couldn’t go in the back. My front tires measure 2/16 and 3/16. My rear measure 8/16 and 9/16. Hmmmm it explains clearly how they only wanted to make it a quick job not a complete job.I now need 4 new tires as the vehicle is AWD and an alignment because of the tread ware. When calling corporate they denied me until a civil suit was mentioned. They felt that only paying for 2 tires from a sale flyer was all they were willing. Corporate also won’t return voicemails left to management.All in all avoid any related to this brand. They don’t care how unfair they treat customers. Replacing all 4 tires at their store and an alignment would be an affordable, quick and honest fix.
Was towing my travel trailer around the country on my honeymoon when I realized I needed an oil change. Came here due to the quality and quantity of reviews. No wonder, the guys were great and service was friendly and reasonably timely. Im not from around these parts but, if I were, this would be my oil change spot.
Ryan and his team do an amazing job! Very attentive to the needs of their customers. Doesn’t rush his customers, and treats them all like they been friends or family for years. I would recommend them for all of your auto needs, over any shop in WNY! Thanks again for working on my Lincoln.
To be honest with you, I wouldnt trust my car to anyone else in the area. This Monro is the greatest in WNY (and Ive been to a few). Ryan and his mechanics are direct and honest but not pushy. Theyll let you know what you need done and if it can wait or if it needs to be done ASAP. Some mechanics elsewhere can be pushy and intimidating but here they have great customer service and are very personable.
I had just drove in from Michigan and one of my tires was rapidly leaking air. I took my vehicle to this business at almost closing time. They offered to keep my vehicle there inside so it would be serviced in the morning. I agreed because I did not want to wake up to a flat tire in the morning. My car was serviced and ready in the morning. I highly recommend this business, everyone was professional and friendly!
This is a review about a specific employee of their Mike Lee, I had taken my car here for tire change and balancing. Their employee forgot to tighten the lug nuts on all the tires. I drove the car out of the shop and my felt my car drag me off the road. When i called the office and spoke to the manager he said there’s nothin he can do. They refused to compensate me for this as it put my life and other at risk on the road. I highly recommend for people to stop going to a shop like this where they can’t hire people who can simply remember to tighten the nuts.
I took my vehicle there for an oil change. All the employees were very polite helpful. They explained everything so I could understand it. Explained some changes that had been made with my vehicle. Offered a coupon I didnt know about and were very expedient. This is not the first time I have brought a vehicle here and every time I receive the same class act service. I will continue to bring my families vehicles here every time. Thanks again guys, JOB WELL DONE!!!!
Had an absolutely incredible experience today with Chad who I went to last minute out of pure chance needing a tire change. I was missing the lock key to get the bolts off of my flat tire, so he had to actually burn the bolts off to get the tire off. He did a phenomenal job and you cannot even tell he had to go through such lengths to remove it; the rim looks undamaged. While he had my car up on the lift, he told me of a few other issues I had with my vehicle but it was more of an FYI as he didnt want me to drive an unsafe vehicle. He didnt push me to have any unnecessary work done on my car as I told him I was looking to sell it soon and didnt want to put more money in to it. I went there by pure chance today, but they now have a life long customer!
I took my car there twice so far (once for a muffler install, once for a NYS inspection), and both times Ryan and his crew have done a great job at a great price in a reasonable amount of time. Even when booked solid and short-handed, Ryan continues to earn the good reputation that you read about in so many other reviews.
Went to get 4 tires replaced, and had a minor issue with the tpms light being on after service. Manager ryan was extremely prompt and professional in resolving this issue. He took my vehicle back in and immediately fixed the sensor. Im very satisfied with the treatment i recieved.
I trust them, because these guys have earned it. My car is older and has needed various amounts of care over the years and Monro has taken care of everything quickly (I get convienent appointments) professionally (they take the time to explain or show exactly whats going on and what my options are) and friendly (Christmas time they shared a bounty of delicious cookies!). Ive never felt taken advantage of, theyre honest and fair. Thank you Monro!
My husband and I have taken our vehicles to Monro on Grand Island on multiple occasions within the past two years - mostly for routin oil changes but also to fix a tire. They are extremely accommodating and are always able to fit us in on short notice. Ryan is who we always deal with at the front desk and his level of professionalism and customer service are beyond none. I would highly recommend Monro on Grand Island.
Another over charging for unnecessary work poor business practices chain repair shop. Wife took her vehicle in for an inspection and was told she needed new front brakes for $400. Superficial rust was the reason she needed rotors too. When I inspected the rotors, I found no pitting or issues. When I inspected the brakes, the pads were maybe half worn. Take your vehicle down the road to Wheelfind or somewhere else. Literally anywhere else will have better integrity and proper business ethics. For shame.
Im a native to Grand Island , I am most comfortable with a family friendly neighborhood business atmosphere. I have shopped around to many auto shops off Island and I do not get that same vibe. I always know that Monroe Muffler is always here for me when I do show up with a quote from somewhere else that I do not understand or wanted to see if they can price match for me! They are incredible with explaining to me that they can take care of me and do better with the price .
Great coupons bring me in, fantastic prices keep me coming back. Whether its inspection, oil change or tires, I find Monro likely to meet or beat the price for going elsewhere. Alignment was only service Ive experienced that was more expensive than competition. No need to leave the Island when this place can get you in sooner and save you the time and inconvenience. They are extremely busy though, so this is not the kind of place you drop in for and express lube. Appointments not only recommended, but necessary. One suggestion, price match Tire Rack. People want to support local merchants, and this would increase your popularity even more.
Took my suv here and they were $30 when everyone else wanted $75-$100. Service was outstanding. I was in and out in less than 45 min. They rotated my tires too(included with oil change)! I went back in a month to get my wife’s car done and they were still the cheapest around(she takes a full synthetic) $63. Everyone else was over $100. Can’t say enough good things about this location! Edit: Came back again for oil change and inspection and couldn’t be happier! Glad I gave them a chance.
Waited by the desk for a few minutes (walk in, no appt), finally called when nobody came up to help at first. Had called in earlier to price oil change. It was almost double what I was quoted over the phone (which I kind of expected..) otherwise though service was good and fast once started. Id go back.
Alright, so i priced around to have tires mounted on my car- Monro wasn’t the cheapest but it was the most convenient. After being given a quote on the phone i arrive and the price is immediately raised by 40+ dollars due to my tire size and then add in an alignment even though i had one done by the dealership two weeks earlier. Ok, that’s fine- sure. The price has now exceeded my going to the jaguar dealership by 115. I drive away, a few days later i notice that my tire is underinflated, i was going to the dealer anyway so now i have them check it out. They notice that there’s a leak in the valve stem (my old tires were fine, there was no leak- simply wanted to upgrade to a better all season tire for the winter)- tell me what it would cost for them to fix it but advise that i go back to Monro since they should stand by their work (they don’t) after talking to them on the phone we discuss how they would cover it, after they fix it they then tell me how it must’ve been the cold weather that broke it (car is parked in a garage and only driven the few times I’m in town) and hit me with another bill. Needless to say, friendly enough customer service but go somewhere else.
I went to monro today and was greeted very quickly and I needed new brake pads these guys john and Steve got me in and out it was nice these brakes feel amazing thank you guys for the amazing work and service.....will be bringing my familys vehicle here asap. Will def reccomend.
Great, fast service. Needed a NYS inspection, they moved fast and even notified me of a few non-safety issues that should be looked at and got me all set up for an appointment to address the issues. Best shop I’ve been to over the last year, will definitely be coming here for a while.
Set up 2 appointments online for inspections and oil. Went in at the time I set up(with email confirmation) and the guy says “well when did you set it up” I said in the morning. And he says yeah I have a couple online appointments in here but I just saw them”. It’s 2pm. If you are that busy, take down the online appointments. What a waste of time. This is the Grand Island location.
Horrible! I took my vehicle for a oil change and tire rotation and brake inspection with the coupon.I was told after taking my car that they had run into problems with another vehicle and it would take longer .I said that was fine by the time we were able to pick up my car(2 hours later ) .I had to go back inside because my tires were not rotated .When I asked I was told because my tires had wear on the front and they would not wear evenly by rotating them that was not true.The southern guy that is a store manager is a scam artist! Avoid at all cost!
My car started to make a tapping sound from the engine area and Monro was recommended to me. From the call I made to schedule an appointment to the service I received at this location it was spectacular. When I’m in the area Monro will be the place I will take my 2015 Jeep Wrangler for service. Thank you
Woke up today with a nail in my tire. I don’t have time for this and I’d rather have a root canal than look for tires online, or find someone to patch it up. Munro is open on Saturday, and Ryan took care of everything, 2new tires, the Goodyear’s I wanted and and NSY inspection. Done. No appointment. So efficient, great experience. Thank you!
Took my car to get aligned, tried 3 times and told me to bring it back when I get new tires (really doubt tires had anything to do with it). Got new tires and brought it back and explained I was told to bring it back and get it aligned to which the response was what do you want me to tell you. The guy there drove it and then told me it was fine, I didnt want to make a fuss so i left. Came back the next day when different employees where there told them the story and they agreed to align it. Tried twice but the machine wouldnt co-operate with my small wheels, never got my money back.I aligned my wheels fine by eye and there is no play in the suspension I suspect the machine cannot align wheels this small but the employees have no idea.Basically spent 70$ to waste my time.
No stars, but had to give one to write this review. Be careful using this shop. I stopped in for a quick oil change and tire rotation. The oil change went okay, but the tire rotation was a total screw up. I ended up with a stripped left rear stud and the lug nut in hand. I was told they couldnt help me, that Id need a new stud, and was made to feel like it was all my fault. I then drove around the corner to Fuccillo Hyundai (20 minutes before closing) and they had the stud rethreaded in less than 5 minutes (with no charge!). They also checked the right side and found another stripped stud where the nut wouldnt come off. I have to go back and get that fixed. I contacted Munro Corporate Office and havent heard back. So much for my quick oil change and tire rotation at Munro. Be careful!
My car suddenly started making a loud noise and we are not from the area so that made things more stressful but so glad we stopped at Monro. Ryan and his team were VERY HELPFUL! Even though they were swamped they still made time to fix my car so we could continue our girls trip. Thanks again guys!
I had 4 new tires put on with in 2 week I had a flat went back plugged the hole they never reset the low tire light on my dash didnt put the cap on my tire where the air goes in never put my canvas bags I had back in my trunk .I had to ask for myLug nut key . Very poor service at grand island monro I would like my bags back!
Monroe on grand island are anglers sent from heven i was broke down right down the street from them and they went out there way to make sure me my mom and girlfriend was good to go im so thankful for them and they are young dudes it really is good people in this world!!! Im going to bring my car to them every time and i live in buffalo and goin to Recommend all my friends and family to this specific monroe. Thank you guys for being there for me when i really needed you guys!!!
It always seems they don’t want my business, have tried several times of late to get an oil change but they are always too busy. It’s a shame I have been going there for years, don’t much care for the new management. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere unfortunately. I would check their performance if I were upper management to make sure they are in fact that busy.
Have been taking cars here for over 20 years. Went in to have a tire remounted due to a slow leak and for a tire rotation. They “repaired” the wrong tire, over pressurized the tire to 46 psi and didn’t complete the tire rotation. When I discovered the low pressure tire in same location, the manager outright lied that tire was repaired and tires were rotated. Never again will I be taking my cars here.

2022-06-17The skid plate on my car came loose and was dragging on the way home from work yesterday. This had never happened so was a little scared it was something major. I called Monroe in the morning and they said I could bring it in in 30 minutes. I got there and was immediately greeted by the owner who was very friendly. They took my car in right away, fixed it in 5 minutes, and was on my way. This was the best, most convenient service Ive ever received from a repair shop! Thank you for the great service and putting my mind at ease so I didnt have to worry about it and enjoy the weekend. Would definitely recommend for any car repairs! Saved me so much time and money.

2022-03-29I have been to Monro several times with my car due to it being old and needing a great deal of work. The guys there are always helpful and super nice to me and every customer. They seem more like friends when I’m there. They don’t pressure me into a sale and they explain things in a way that’s easy to understand for someone who doesn’t know car parts extremely well. And my car is doing better than ever thanks to them.

He had a handful of vehicles that needed work done and still kept a calm, cool, organized demeanor about him along with outstanding customer service !!! This man deserves a promotion. 2022-03-31I brought my car to Steve for what he said was a 2 hour fix. He wanted to charge me $1000. I told him too much he said Ill do it for $500 cash. He said car done in 2 hours. He had my car 6 days and same problem occurred. I will be suing Monro and Steve G. Steve is a shady dishonest person. Should be fired immediately

2022-03-19Edit my one star review to 3. I was a little harsh as they are understaffed. I did spend 5 hours getting tires done and they had to go out for TPS sensors for wheel which took a long time. Some communication would have been nice. The kid that did my tires worked his butt off.

2022-04-11Substandard treatment by staff here. BEWARE!! Both management and mechanics are paid a commission on any service the sell you above the base level. They even tried to sell me a warranty on an oil change I had them do.

2020-09-08Went to Monro on the island to get my car inspected. Steve told me it would be $700 for all new brakes and front rotors. Failed the inspection because of this. My dad is doing it for under $200. My rear brakes were completely fine after my dad took them off, he showed me, and said not sure why I needed ALL new brakes. Pathetic. I get they probably need business because of COVID but come on.. do not try to screw me over. Especially when you have a “brake sale” sign outside your store.. I know for a fact you’re just trying to make a buck. I will not be coming back here.Pictured are my rear brakes.
