Made an appointment online for a state inspection 3 days ago, and got the confirmation email. Great! I get there this morning, only to be told they cant do my inspection because my 2021 car is too new, and they dont have any stickers??? And then said to try again in a week or so. What on earth? And no one called me before my 11:00 appointment to let me know. Ridiculous. Going to try someplace else.
I have depended on this Monroe Auto Service location for my car service and maintenance for several years. I have always had good experiences, never been overpriced or oversold services, and my car has never had issues after auto work. The current manager, James, always provides friendly service and explains things thoroughly.
Never going anywhere else again!!! Personal service, very knowledgeable, thorough job! Major work done and cant fathom how much it would have cost at the dealership. They worked with me on the financial piece and gave me great options. Brought my car in feeling confident it was going to be done right which is something I havent found in a VERY long time! Kudos to a job well done! So excited to have found you all! Highly recommend! A+++
After years of getting my cars and trailers inspected and worked on in this location I wont be doing business here any longer. Ive given them many chances and theyve done good work for me in the past but today it was yet another disappointing experience. I called a little before 2 pm and talked to someone by the name of Rick. I asked for an appointment to get my trailer inspected, Rick assured me that he couldt inspect my trailer because they dont do those kinds of inspections or have someone that could work on trailer brakes. I hope this gets the attention it requires and this problem gets resolved.
I had scheduled an appointment on a Friday for the upcoming Sunday (30 Aug 20) for a tire mount and balance. Some disconnect somewhere and when I showed up for my 0930 appointment they didnt have me scheduled. After shuffling somethings around the gentleman working, just 2 guys, fit me in and got my tires swapped. With no issues. Its awesome to see people making a bad situation work out. I appreciate both of them and I will come back next time. The only reason for the 4 stars is because of the issue with th4 scheduled appointment.
Wanted to charge me 1000$ for all brakes and rotors when I could do it myself for 300$. I took it there to get my inspection and a caliper replacement. I got charged 657$ for a caliper and hose change. They double charged me for a brake fluid exchange. Brake fluid exchange cost 120$. When a bottle of brake fluid cost 8$ where is that extra 112$ coming from! Prices are ridiculous. Luckily I double checked the receipt and got refunded 179$ but still a 120$ mistake that they didn’t even realize themselves.
I come here every year for my inspection. These guys are great about getting people in on short notice. I recently just had my inspection done and I was in and out within half an hour. Their mechanics are great as well, they actually seem to know what they are talking about, unlike other places (Mavis)
I needed my brakes done desperately...I was scared to drive my van. I spoke with Michelle yesterday and she got me in today with no trouble. I’ve gone to Monroe in the past with different cars and everyone has always been pleasant but Michelle was just terrific. Great customer service, very reasonable prices, and my van is running quiet and safe now. Thanks guys!
We have been going here for over 10 years and they have had change in management alot with the past 3 years where we werent thrilled with... but the newest manager is horrible! They had our car for a week and didnt even inform us they hadnt a week after we dropped it off! Prices are really high too... and they are just rude and unprofessional! Dont go here
Absolutely amazing customer service. Even though they were short staffed Mike assessed damages to my vehicle, did not sell me tires although they could have because my car was not going to pass inspection. Michelle asked Ben to provide me with ride to work close by -great guy, very personable and made my day much easier. Michelle later provided me with a name of a reputable car dealer who might work with my lack of funds situation, then hooked me up with a tire just to get me off the donut and safely home. You all rock! Highly recommend. More than 5 stars 10 maybe!
Michelle Simons the manager is awesome! The staff here is so nice and friendly. Will come back thanks !UPDATE: ....4 months later I did follow up and bought my car back for a routine oil change. Michelle was there again to greet and she is still great! Very polite and respectful as were the mechanics. HOWEVER they wrote up an invoice amounting to $3000 in repairs....no exaggeration $3,005.49. Brakes/Alignment/Ball Joints and a couple other minor common repairs. After hearing this I drove to my mechanic that my family has been going to for 30+ years (Highbridge Auto) owner is Walt. After inspection of my vehicle, for all parts/repairs/labor the quote they gave me was $1230......If I didn’t drive 5 miles down the road for a second opinion I would have spent $1700 more than I needed to...$1700!!! I just don’t understand how these people sleep at night or if the mechanic didnt really have a clue what he was talking about ? I really don’t know, but what I do know is I will never be coming back here again. It pains me to write a review this long, especially since the staff there was so respectful the both times I have went, but if I could just help out a few people who actually read this I will feel as if I’ve done my due diligence. This is a DISGRACE.
Needed brakes and rotors on the back of my car, Jim and his team were friendly amazing and great to work with. They made me feel at ease after dealing with another place that wasn’t really wanting to work with me. So thank you again! I will definitely be back and will be sending people your way!
Great prices for quality work. Went in with my own winter tires and wheels, just needed them balanced, which they did. they put them on my car without trying to check my filters or breaks or headlights or any of those other scamy things that I hate other places do. Only cost $50 and took like 30 minutes. Great :)
I was here yesterday for an inspection and heard the technician cursing and saying he wasnt going to do any more inspections isnt that your job needless to say the poor manager who had to deal with this dirty scrubby guy told me hes very sorry and refered me to another branch. I wont be going back until that guy is gone....
Wonderful experience. I came in with my car because it was making a horrid noise out of no where! They promptly took it for a test drive and then asked if I would like to go to have it explained what they were hearing and I agreed. Mike explained what he thought it would be but said he wanted to check it on the lift to be sure. We found the problem and he invited me in the shop and discussed what was going on with the car and why it was making the noise. Mike and the team took complete care of my car happily and without emptying my wallet! So very thankful for them today.
Amazing customer service, I had a huge hole in my tire and had to leave the truck over night. went out to get a few things with out even hesitating Brett came out and offered me a ride home but my friend was coming to get me. He called me early in the morning updated me on the process and unfortunately I had to get two new tires but he had everything priced out before even calling. Tires were on and got a call it was complete 30 minutes later. would recommend this shop to anyone!
I had a great experience with Monro over in Schenectady. I was very impressed by their professionalism and timeliness. I was able to go in on my work lunch break, with no appointment, and get my tire checked out and fixed. I would highly recommend them to anyone with a motor vehicle.
Over the last 30 years, when I needed an oil change or a repair, I would stop by a place that was closest at the time and move on. This is the first time I keep returning to the same place again and again. All the advertising in the world cant beat the friendly, honest man you meet when you first walk in the door. The last time I was here I was in a panic! Heard a grinding and thought I needed brakes. They took the tires off and rotated them, then found out that it was a bent aluminum shield causing the sound. They bent it back, put the freshly rotated tires back on and charged me nothing!! What a blessing! TODAY? Even better service. Got me in even though I arrived early, took care of my vehicle quickly and efficiently and they were very kind! ❤️
Ive been to these guys routinely for a couple years now, and they always give me very good service. Theyre prompt and friendly, and they have even squeezed me in for quick service for a tire crisis and a brake check. I find the staff here always goes above and beyond my expectations.
Best experience ever working with Michelle and her team. They are very knowledgeable and strive always for profection while giving outstanding customer service. Id leave 0 stars if I could. I called this shop to mount my rims on tires Saturday afternoon. They told me they could get me in as soon as 4:30pm. After dropping off the tires I returned 30 minutes later to hear that their machine was not working and they didnt want to damage them by doing it by hand. (Ignoring the fact that they wasted my time.) I said thanks anyways and grabbed my tires and rims which where still boxed and left the shop assuming they did not touch them as they had stated. I was wrong! I went to another tire shop today to find a long scratch along the face of one of the rims and soap residue all over. I called the manager, he denied my claim.. i asked for his supervisor, again denied my claim, contacted the regional manager, again denied my claim because there was no invoice to prove I was there.This buisness, these people are without honor or Integrity. I will never again do buisness at a Monroe Muffler and If you read this I hope you learn from my mistakes.
Today, 6/12/18, I visited this store with an appt. scheduled the previous day. I was a bit reluctant due to my last experience regarding customer service, but, my girlfriend scheduled an appointment for her Rav4 and so I took it in. I was greeted by Steve who took my information. He told me it would be a half hour for my oil change and that was fine. Steve struck up conversation with me right off the bat and we spoke about cars and customer service (as I too am in customer service); all the while he did his job with precision. Before I left, I saw a woman ask if she could be hurried along. Steve told her my car was backing out and he was going to care for her car personally! While I was skeptical to go back to this Monroe, I will now because of my most recent experience.
In the last 2 months I have had 2 NY State Inspections, tire replacement, and a 60,000 mile check. Monro in Glenville is the best. I know that they will only do what is needed and not try to make me pay for things that are not necessary. I highly recommend them for your auto needs.
Brought my car in for mostly routine stuff, but also to check out some odd clunking and grinding from the front end. The dealer already claimed it to be a bad steering rack and provided me with a quote of nearly $5000 (!!) to replace it. They even found a way to wiggle out of it being warranty work (less than 40k miles on the car). The crew at Monro figured out that it was bad tie rod ends and not the rack at all. After replacing them for less than 1/10th of the dealer quote for the WRONG component, the car feels great, and all the front end looseness and clunking are gone. They even went to great lengths to explain the troubleshooting they did to isolate the issue. Great job and very satisfied!
First, I’ve been a fairly regular customer at the glenville shop for several years now, through 2-3 diff cars. My last visit was to replace my tires with new ones (can’t just put one new one on, I was told by Michelle) she helped me apply and get their drive card, which was beneficial at the time.Yesterday I went there at about 4:25 pm, after looking up which shops are open past 5, which monro was...I needed a dmv nys inspection. So I show up, with another woman waiting at counter for a rep. I waited behind her. Within about 5 minutes a man, mechanic, came in, phone rang, he ignored us and went in to help phone customer first (grrrrrrrr)! Then continues to keep ignoring us (no comment, like someone will be with you soon). About 4:40, young guy, Ben comes in and deals with 1st person in line. The ‘mechanic’ then says to Ben, ‘guess I’m outta here now!’ Without asking what service I might need. I said to him, thinking he might be person I’ll need for service, don’t go yet! Wait a few minutes. And He just walked away!!At 4:45, my turn, I tell Ben I need an inspection, he looks at me and says his inspector just left. I said, that guy just walked out the door, can you call him back please. ? Ben just stared at me! I then said, you’re not going to get him, are you?!!He said his inspectors usually leave at 5 pm. Which is NOT noted on your websites.So I look at Ben, very frustrated and pissed off at his lack of professional customer service and the opposite of the nice treatment I had always gotten here.I walked out, very upset. and he never apologized, or checked if I’d like to come back tomorrow.I get to my car and start googling other late closing shops, and realized it’s only 4:45!!So I call Ben and say it’s not even 5 yet, but you turned away a regular customer! He started making excuses, being argumentative with me, and I just finally cut him off and said, you just gave me terrible customer service and you just lost a very loyal customer! I just bought four tires from here, I am one of your ‘drive card’ customers and I’ll be needing front brakes n rotors soon. You will not be getting any more of my business!Never one word of apology for not helping me.Doesn’t Monro train their people on good customer service skills?!’ Both men failed at that! Too bad Michelle wasn’t there, cuz she was their gem. This guy Ben needs to get out of customer service as he has a piss poor attitude!So I’m sitting in my new shop now and they will be getting my hard earned money from here on.Bye bye Felicia! Do yourself a favor and never get an oil change at Monro. I brought my Mazda CX5 here (with my wife and 6 month old daughter) for the last oil change. It was convenient and cheaper than going to the dealership like I used to. The process went smoothly and I paid them and left thinking everything was fine, and that I was likely to go back to them for the next service. Fast forward to today, 6000 miles later, I ended up changing the oil myself and thank god I did. If I went back I may have never realized they didnt change my oil filter! It had Mazda Genuine Oil Filter printed on it, which I highly doubt Monro carries, and I know I didnt ask them for one, so it must have been from the dealership. That filter was very hard for me to remove, which tells me why it hadnt been replaced. The fact that they could charge me for the full service and send me on my way after not finishing the work with my infant daughter in the back seat is infuriating. It tells me just how low these people are.
This is my favorite location by far! They never push anything on you and are always honest. As a woman, its great to know I can bring my car in for anything without the worry of being hassled. I now drive out of my way to bring my car in. Thanks for the great service!!!
Had my 2004 Mazda 6 towed in, no power what so ever. Monro estimates $600.00 new alternator, new battery. They do some work, think it might not be the alternator, they need the car another day. They re-contact me and I prepare for the bad news. They advise me its a bad ground wire and Im out the door for $120.00. Not often in the auto repair business is your bill several hundred dollars less than the estimate. This will be my first stop for all my future auto repairs. Thanks!
Kid was literally pouting about mounting and balancing 4 tires, and checking a TPMS sensor. Maybe they are actually good at something else and I was just confused thinking they do tires. Show up for an 11am appointment says to wait around for a few hours or come back at 2:30. Dont worry Walmart can handle it. They had me in and out in 30 minutes. Good job Walmart!
Been going here for years. Serviced multiple vehicles over the years. Always work with me on price honest with me on what can last a while longer what has to go now. Lmk that it will cheaper to do something now since they are already working on that piece. Dont even bother going anywhere else or checking prices
So fantastic!We went to THREE different places before Monro. Every other place was unable to help us. Monro fixed our problem in a timely manner AND answered every question we had about it. When we noticed a slight pull to the right after our work, Monro even took our vehicle back in to readjust it.Would recommend.
I was in a pinch and was told they could do the work. Well after waiting for 2 hours to be told they actually dont have the right tools?! Aka a die grinder. I did the work myself overnight and was charged when I went back to do an alignment. Sums up the business ethics.
My wife and I just moved to a house in Genville,NY. During the move, we noticed that my wifes car was making a grinding, metal on metal sound that was getting worse each time she drove it. Being new to the area, we chose Monro Muffler on Saratoga Rd. We feel very fortunate we decided on Monro. Turns out my wifes rear brakes/rotors/calibers were the cause of the grinding sound. General Manager, Jim Nolan, and his associate Mike, got us right in and took great care of us. They even took the time to show us what was causing the problem before they did the repair. Now I have the peace of mind that my wifes car is safe and in great shape. Monro certainly earned our return business. Great service, fair pricing and professional, friendly people. Thank you Monro. Great customer service !! Today I went to fill up air in my tire and my valve stem broke , I showed up and they realize that I had my two children with me , and made a point to take care of me right away . My car was fixed within a half hour . I want to tell the people over at Glenville NY Monro thank you.
They was grate looked at my suv and found stuff wrong with it . They told me to bring it back to the car Place where i got it It shouldn’t of passed. This car in spect ion. So I did. There was. Allot. of codes. On it went. Bad . I couldent believe this my self so i did. And the Dealer going to fix it all for me. Under warnty. At no cost to me . I go back here again. ToMunro. Again. Thanks. Gave them the benefit of the doubt that I wouldnt get ripped off, but was way wrong.....NEVER GO TO THESE SHOPS UNLESS YOU HAVE A NEW CAR OR ARE FRIENDS/RELATIVES WITH THE WORKERS......i Expected to pay around $300 and got an $800 quote.....I told them nevermind, I will go somewhere else & they told me they couldnt put my tire back on because they had to chisel the rotor & a piece of it fell apart .........I didnt ask them to look at my tires OR rotors.........
I was in the Albany area visiting family and I had an issue with my car. I did not think that it was going to be able to make the drive back so I took it here to get looked at. Steve and Mike really worked with me on a busy day for them, squeezed me in, and fixed my car. They worked with me very well and got the car fixed for my drive back.
This is the worst place to take your car I took it in from oil change + inspection and I wind upPaying 500 dollars by applying for a tires credit card then they Stoled my red fog lights that I forgot to take off Which he told me he was gonna unplug be very carefully I will never Recommend this place and this place is at Scotia
Took my car to Monro to get a quick emergency repair to a brake caliper done. In the process of taking off the tires the mechanic who claims to be the assistant manager broke two of the security locks by forcing them in the wrong direction with a torque gun (which wasn’t needed in the first place since the lug was hand tight). He then told me that it was my fault and that I owe two hours worth of labor at $80/hr. I refused to pay for what they broke. They also claim that the only way to get the rims off is to torch them off which will likely destroy them. Each rim cost $350 which is extremely expensive so they are way out of line saying they were going to cut them. Luckily I stopped them from doing anything else and took the car back. Will never go to Monro again. They will break people’s property and then claim no responsibility for it.

2022-04-15Joe was amazing! Heard a sound with my brakes so I stopped in. He got me in right away and was very clear about the problem and my options. He also honored coupons from competitors which I appreciated! Very knowledgeable and high quality customer service!

2022-06-16Ended up trying to repair my own exhaust 500 miles away from home and only made it about 60% through before getting stuck the previous day. These guys got me in right away the next morning, fixed me up, and sent me on my way with a very fair bill. I left them some extra bucks for coffees in addition to the reasonable bill as a thank you.

Went to three other places before I stopped here he said well take care of you right away Ive got an opening .then to find out I need the brakes to pass the inspection. They quoted me a price I really didnt like it it was too high and then I talked to the manager and he really helped me out on the price. Thanks guys.

2022-07-11Made an appointment for 10:00am and I got there at 9:50. 11:20am rolls around and they still havent started working on my car, I just walked home at that point. Called me at 12:30 to tell me they were starting it. Price was also a little ridiculous, $1120 after i talked them down from $1220. After getting brakes and rotors I asked other shops to see what their price wouldve been and most of them were under by about $250

2022-04-10My tire popped and I needed it plugged quickly as I had to work the next day. I called and the manager said bring it right in. As soon as I showed up they started working on my tire. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

2019-06-15Let me just start this review off by saying I have always had a good experience at this shop and have had solid work done here until my most recent visit. Approximately two weeks ago I brought my vehicle in to have my wheels balanced as I noticed a vibration in my steering wheel. The job was completed and it seemed all was good. I then noticed damage to multiple wheels that wasnt mentioned to me before I left the shop. Upon closer inspection I realized the individual working on my car gouged the inside of two wheels scraping the old wheel weights off. I have wide open wheels so this damage is easily seen while standing outside the vehicle. The mechanic also cracked the plastic center cap on another wheel while prying it off with a screwdriver. If this damage wasnt bad enough, he also stripped my wheel lock key while using an impact wrench to put the wheel locks back on the car. The stripped wheel lock key forced me to take a trip to the dealer to have them removed and new lugs reinstalled, wasting more time and money. I brought the vehicle back to monroe after noticing the damage, to report it to the branch manager. While at Monroe, I spoke with the mechanic that damaged my car, and he said that they use a stainless steel tool to remove wheel weights and marks left on the wheels was unavoidable and common practice. While at the dealer having my lugs removed I asked their opinion on this matter. The dealer stated that this was ridiculous and they use a plastic tool especially while working with aluminum rims. Anyway the branch manager Michelle seemed genuinely concerned with the damage caused by one of her mechanics. She reached out to the district manager and a claim was put in with their insurance company. I am currently in the process of working with the insurance company to get the damage covered and repaired. If this particular mechanic was this carelesss and incompetent working on my vehicle, I wonder how many others have had issues or damage caused by him. I also feel he was counting on me to not noticing any of the damage as he didnt mention it after it occurred. This experience has caused a pretty big headache and has come at the cost of losing a loyal customer. All my friends and family will hear about this and will be avoiding this shop in the future.

2021-12-04I brought my car to different auto repair shops & my issues were never resolved and dealt with rude customer service along with it. I came here & experienced such helpful and welcoming customer service. Chris was very helpful with telling me everything I needed to know and recommending different options. I was very satisfied with my experience & will be coming back if needed!
