We bought a couple tastings and received goodie bags with them. Good time! So many little things to check out while we waited. We ended up liking a sweet Sangria. Took it back to the bed and breakfast we were at and drank it right up. Being a fruit wine it went down smooth and had us both relaxed by the lake side in no time.Next time your on thr wine tail, swing by here for a slushie.
If your looking for a winery to visit look no further! This place is spectacular, the staff is extremely helpful and customer service was excellent.. we we helped by Dave and he is absolutely amazing. He explained every wine in detailed and helped us find the right wine for each of us. The wine and spirits are great and they have a wide selection for all and you will definitely the wine you want! The price is amazing for the tasting is inexpensive unlike other wineries near by and you get so much more here
We try to come to the Finger Lakes each year, however this year was the first time we had stopped here. OMG…what a fun place. I don’t remember the gentleman that helped us but he was GREAT. We bought a case to bring home. A big plus…the wine labels are absolutely adorable. Kudos to the creator.
Was excellent we come up from Indiana to visit family, found out about your winery through a stand at a Renaissance Festival. Took some Fat Frog Red back for a friend of mine. He thinks its the best wine around. There are also a lot of gift/souvenirs in this shop. We make apoint to visit everytime we visit NY. Highly recommended!
My team and I did a virtual wine tasting with Montezuma Winery and it was a blast! Tammy was wonderful in helping us coordinate the event, ordering our wine, and finding the best pairings. Mary was very fun and knowledgeable about the wine & history of the winery! We 10/10 recommend and hope to work with them again in the near future! :)
Zoom virtual wine tasting with Mary was so great!!!! Put together 15 friends 4 bottles of wine and 1 bottle of whiskey for a great socially distanced tasting from the comfort of home. Winery let us know which food pairings would be good with the wine and spirit we chose ahead of time so that we could prepare for day of tasting. Mary you can host us anytime!!!!!
We stopped here for a wine tasting. They have a smart set up where you order the sample set you would like to try, and they bag it all up for you and you can then go outside to really nice wooden picnic tables to have the wine samples. Everyone one was wearing a mask, everyone was very curteous, they also had a wine slushy stand outside. We ended up buying a few different wines and they were really amazing!
The customer service was overall pretty good , the girls that were working the slushy cart were a bit rude though, but the slushies were amazing. Totally worth it.The visit was overall pretty great. I enjoyed the wine tasting and would highly recommend the pear flavored wine(I bought a bottle,I couldnt help myself). I loved that I got a free winr glass with my kit :)
We were really disappointed with this place. The $12 samples were so small that they should be embarrassed. They gave us a bag of crumbs and a teaspoon of salsa with the tiny 1oz wine samples. Would much rather not get the complimentary wine glass and get more wine or chips. It turned us off so much we didn’t want to spend any additional money here to buy bottles. Good hospitality would go a long way.
This is such a wonderful place. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Couldnt have asked for a better experience. Even though it was at the end of their shifts they were happy and friendly and didnt make us feel rushed or hurried. Love this place. The staff truly make it what it is. The wine is great too
We visited for the first time yesterday afternoon, on a busy day, and were super impressed with our interaction with Laurel! She was a rockstar handling multiple tastings, and we did not feel at all ignored. We enjoyed the wines we tasted and took a few bottles home, as well as tasting the apple pie mimosa. Well be back!
There was a fabulous selection of wines and spirits. Jon conducted our tasting and he was very knowledgeable and passionate about the wines. He gave us some great recommendations and was just a top notch person. We will definitely be visiting again the next time we are in the area.
First time going to cayuga wineries and this was the first stop... Accommodation made despite covid. We had to make reservations for group of 9 and must preselect tasting flights the night prior. Tastings came with specialty garlic oil, tortilla chips, fudge, and wine glass! Overall good experience.
Stopped here for the Ithaca Loves Teachers Winter Recess. I do understand we arrived at 455 pm and they close at 530 pm. Upon arrival we are greeted with “do you want a tasting, or something”. Chalked it up to maybe she was having a bad/long day. Proceeded with our hurried, nondescript tasting and had the joy of listening to the employees complain about the Winter Recess event and being a part of it to “only sell one bottle of wine”. Perhaps back room banter should be kept in the back room and not in front of patrons. That said, wines were decent and they have a large variety for everyone’s palette.
This place is amazing! We visited fingerlakes area for the weekend and this was our 1st stop on day 2. Wow! The staff is so nice, knowledgeable and fun! We had a great time & left with 6 bottles of wine! Really impressed with the quality of the wine and the business all together!
Montezuma Winery has fabulous wines. It is one of my favorites for semi-sweet to sweet whites and blushes. Their diamond and fat frog brands are exactly to my taste-sweet and full of grape flavor. There are several other varieties from dry whites and reds to fruit and ice wines. There is a wonderful selection of wine related items in the store, as well. What a great place to start s wine tour of Cayuga Lake!
Had an amazing experience once again at the winery today thanks to Mary!! Enjoyed the tasting and all the extra information given. This place never disappoints!! Wine slushes were there today which was a wonderful surprise!! Highly recommended!! Diamond is my favorite then comes Fat Frog Red!! Enjoy!! Can’t wait to return!!
Staff is NOT friendly. Kept giving them the benefit of the doubt, but the 3rd time going here and everyone is miserable. Our tasting bags to go came to $24, and I’m not even sure why because she just popped very small samples in and gave us the bags.. It’s a ripoff! The staff all looked annoyed when we came in when they weren’t even close to closing. It’s disappointing to feel unwanted and uncomfortable every single time we come in.
My favorite winery in the area. Excellent if you like sweet wines like I do. They offer wines, mead, and even honey vodka. Very friendly and helpful staff.UNCLE GERRYS TIP: if you like cranberries, try their Cranberry Bog, if not, you cant go wrong with their Fat Frog Red.
Great experience! Holiday Shopping Spree 2017 : the food pairing was AWFUL but the wines and liquor more than made up for it! I tried the sweet flight, and had a really hard time even determining which bottle to buy, as they were all Delicious! Great experience, beautiful shop and tasting room!!
Montezuma winery was our first place we hit up on our girls weekend to NY. The wine was very tastey and the shop was cute with souvenirs. We enjoyed the wine and all bought several bottles before we left.We did find it a little unpleasant that the woman who was giving us the samples was not very personable or friendly. She wouldnt talk about the wines or really engage in conversation. This was my first time at the wineries so i didnt think much about it. However as we toured other wineries throughout the day the other , the servers were friendly, engaging and made us feel like they wanted us to be there unlike the older woman at montezuma winery. Hey i get it we all have bad days but you cant let it show at work.
This used to be my favorite winery, but had two unpleasant experiences on our yearly trip. Last year we were too close to closing time, they wouldnt let us stop. Kind of understandable. This year, we called a week in advance to confirm, and were reprimanded by, apparently, the owner. He was rude to the driver, who is hired and goes where he is supposed to, and had a bad attitude with our director, who, again, called a week in advance. We have about 30 people...... everyone already knows what theyre buying, Cranberry Bog mostly. We dont waste time on the tastings, we buy and leave. I wish I could have returned everything that I bought. I know I wont buy again if we should stop again.Attitude means everything....... rude, rude, rude!
I had arrived 18 minutes prior to close and upon arrival today, October 8th 2017, the bartenders would not serve my party of 5 for a tasting. Even if closing of the bar was 15 minutes prior to close, we had at least 3 minutes of prime tasting time that they refused. They handled it in a very unsavory manner, and left a bitter taste in our mouths saying to visit tomorrow when we traveled down from Vermont today specifically for the wine tour. No where on the website does it obviously indicate this restriction on wine tasting hours and the employees were less than satisfactory with their delivery of this information. We left with no wine purchases after buying at least 6 wines at every vineyard we had attended prior. I have worked at several restaurants, and have friends who own restaurants, who are infamous for staying open past closing time because individuals had arrived a few minutes prior to closing and stayed open later to serve, which is what I would call customer service. Im very disappointed in this establishment and the manner of their employees.
Use to like this place but the 6 closing time is misleading. 5:45 sharp, wine tasting stops even if not indicated on their website.Dont pass up other wineries on the way out, you will feel more welcome and Montezuma really doesnt want to see you 15 minutes before closing unless you know exactly what you want to buy.
Went to their wine tasting room and shop in Old Forge, Ny. Purchased 6 different bottles of wine. Just opened the first one- Mead semi sweet honey wine and it tastes spoiled and sour nothing like the one we sampled. Called the number on the bottle and the woman told me to drive it back (which is 3hrs away) otherwise there is nothing she can do. after more talks she agreed to talk to owners and get back to me next week. Buyer BEWARE!

2022-01-23I’m a native of the Finger Lakes and love Montezuma wines. Ive never been to the winery in person before and decided to go for a tasting. The employee Danielle was so friendly and knowledgeable. She made me feel right at home. I’ll definitely be back!

2022-05-25This was the best surprise in our trip so far. My partner and I decided to swing in on a whim and the gentleman who helped us out, Dave, was nothing short of amazing. He took his time in explaining all of the wines that peaked our interest, and even showed us some wines outside of our comfort zone that took us by a pleasant surprise. 10/10 would visit again in a heartbeat.

2021-07-22The gentleman helping was fabulous. He took what he was learning about my wine palette and suggesting new wines for me to try and he was spot on! Great atmosphere and staff. I will definitely stop there again

2022-05-26Visited here largely for the HIdden Marsh Distillery, as wed visited plenty of places selling sweet/fruity wine. Tastings were limited to three items per customer, with reasonably generous enough pours to allow two to share. The apple brandy was decent, but not great. The maple liqueur was interesting (and warranted a purchase). The bourbon was just hot. The person pouring for us was friendly but distracted, and didnt wash out the glass between those very different products. For all that theres wine and liquor scattered around the store, the quantity of other tchotchkes, kitsch, fudge, etc., made it feel like a tourist souvenir shop, rather than a wine and spirits maker. Not likely to return.

2022-02-13Much more kitsch than any winery should be. The entire tasting bar is surrounded by a gift shop. The prices on the wines and tasting are extremely affordable, so perhaps Montezuma is a good place to try your first wines. However, the wines are incredible sweet and unrefined. Each bottle is a blend of multipe types of grape varities, resulting in cheap, indistinguishable table wines.
