MORTON WILLIAMS SUPERMARKETS in other cities:
The store on Madison Avenue has a very good selection of fruits and vegetables.I wish, however, people in the store would be more aware of social distancing. Many seemed oblivious to this. The cashier was very good about this and no one was near me when I was checking out.I realize that social distancing is difficult for a lot of people particularly when you are shopping.
A mid-sized (at least for Manhattan) grocery store with a large selection of food staples and an assortment of ready-to-eat options. The staff are friendly, and shopping and dining here was a positive experience. Overall, Id recommend Morton Williams as a grocery store on the upper east side.
I want to love this supermarket but its more convenience than anything else. Produce is meh, Ive found my share of spoiled berries and grapes here. The hot food buffet is mediocre. Theres nothing remarkable about it and some things taste really strange where Im unsure if its reheated or just badly seasoned. Some things are bland while others are greasy. Their selection of product is sufficient but not enough when wholefoods is only a few blocks away. They need to step it up.
I like this place because they have some hard to find items such as Good thins snacks. It also has a great deli with great salad options like sauteed broccoli rabe with garlic and broiled brussel sprouts. Not overwhelmingly big like whole foods and prices are a bit better.
Very over priced produce and products. Additionally, I just experienced some of the rudest cashiers- one who threw my items on anothers lane while shaking her head that I got in her line (there was no lane closed and she had customers) while the other young lady was snicking and rolling her eyes at me. I will not be going back.
For those of us who visited the store during its renovation, the store was a dud. It has done a 360. The personnel all walk you to the shelf when you are looking for something; they look you in the eye and smile - and I even got a few handshakes!! I requested a donation for a charity event, and got the most cooperative and generous response you could wish for.
Bought an expensive jar of anchovies from here. Got to my friends BBQ 20 minutes later and discovered it was completely rancid! Returned the full jar later that day for a refund (no hassle) and the manager told me they only took delivery of the product three days ago and would not purchase from that supplier again. I sympathize with them, but they should do a better job of vetting suppliers, particularly given their very high markup.
$5.99 for one pound of plums? $13.20 for 6 (six) plums? Returned when cashier rung it up.Liked more the food emporium before. For those living on Madison ave in the 80s and 90s It is a convenience, there is no other grocery store on Madison Avenue, a tough situation especially now that Dean & Deluca has closed. Prices of other items ok, better than d’agostino, that in my opinion is the most overpriced store. Selection ok.
I does not cost anything to be kind and provide good customer service, however these old people that work in this store and or unhappy employees are nasty and disrespectful. I stood at the register watching the cashier make coffee when that should have stopped and you ring up the customer. I went from being on time for work to.being late. So soon enough I will take my money else where.

2022-01-01Many times we go, we receive rude treatment by the cashiers. And cash registers are poorly organized for customer flow. Produce is not fresh. Soft cucumbers, apples with wrinkled skin, wilted lettuce.Better options nearby.

2020-10-15Good neighborhood supermarket, very clean and well organized. A bit expensive but I guess its because of the area where its located. Cashiers are polite and welcoming as well as people working there. Its also also pretty extensive and covers a good area, I was impressed by the space itself.

2020-11-25Clean environment, wide product selection, and the prices are not that high. This supermarket is a go-to place, especially to those people who are on a tight budget just like me. The prices are fair, and the service was totally fantastic. Indeed, the most reliable place to do your grocery needs! Very worth it!

2021-02-07I love their sushi. they have best sushi chef in this local grocery market. I dont know he/she is working at here. Their sushi is above the expectation compared to its price. currently I moved out from Manhattan but I miss this place just because of the sushi.

2021-01-23Help is usually very cooperative. Store is one of the smaller ones. Price is not their strong suit. Watch dates on deli items pre-made. Prices may not always correspond to sales flyer. Speak up. They will adjust. Often out of inventory but they will issue rain checks on sale items.
