So I am here with my 9 year old child with a injury, she fell down a flight of stairs. Its been 3 hours since we got here and still no communication with the doctor. I went to the desk to request Id like to speak to the doctor and waiting another hour still no doctor. My daughter has a really bad foot injury and believe me I regret coming here. We are still sitting in the waiting room. Its really uncomfortable and wished I went to a different ER. Its a complete waste of time, awful service since you will be ignored for hours. They have no compassion. Im 6 months pregnant and came in with child whos hurt. Please save your time and energy. Do not recommend.
Ive never been a fan of this hospital, but with my car unavailable I wasnt willing to pay the extra for the Manhattan trip. Well, folks you get what you pay for! The nurses were nice enough when you had a chance to talk to one and registration was quick enough. The issues come in the actual care. Dr. Jeffrey L. Levine didnt listen to a single word I said. Working in doctors offices for over 15 years now, I know the Im the doctor syndrome is only for the lazy. My bosses wouldve never pulled that card. Ive suffered from tonsillitis since my youth, but never got them removed. My one chance to get them removed was blocked by a more serious illness a few years ago. Dr. Levine didnt hear the I cant swallow or feel for the lump on the side of my neck (smh). All he did was look at them and run a strep test. However, I was sent home with discharge papers saying if you cant swallow or new or worsening ear pain, sinus pain or headache PLEASE RETURN. Oh and of course it says if you have a muffled voice (I sound like I have a mouth full of marbles). I told the man the pain started three days ago and I listened to my pcp to wait it out. I wouldnt have wasted the fare if it wasnt worse than before. His only concern was testing me for covid. I told him I was tested by the pcp, but clearly that was the only concern. Ugh. I get it Covid is real, but other illnesses didnt disappear people.
Nope, dont do it. Dont go. If youre in northwestern Queens just go to Weill Cornell in the city on 68th Street. I went last week upon referral from urgent care, middle of the week, middle of the day. There were at least 25 people waiting on line just to be checked-in. There was no staff commandeering the room, no social distancing, not even the intention to distance even minimally. So essentially youre waiting who knows how long just to tell someone why youre there. I was there because the urgent care facility suspected my abdominal pain could be appendicitis, but my insurance wouldnt approve the ct scan there, only at the ER.I left Mt Sinai ER after 5 minutes of waiting and seeing absolutely no movement to triage patients, took an uber to Weill Cornell and got the cat scan I needed. In contrast, all the staff at Weill Cornell kept mentioning how busy it was that day but the difference was they were actively handling the flow of patients in the ER, checking in and triaging fairly quickly in my opinion. They were definitely aware of the amount of people in the ER and working to move people along and keep people distanced.Mt Sinai ER was a throwback to old NYC ERs where people (usually people of color) were just sort of left waiting for hours on end and when people talk about healthcare disparities this is what they mean, that you have to go to an ER in a high-income area like the upper east side to get access to better care.
I wasn’t seen by a doctor at all! Tests were done and was told by a Physician Assistant what my next steps were. Because of the gravity of the problem, I demanded to speak with a doctor and was told to wait. I’m the end, I never saw the doctor. I bet I’ll get billed for doctor services despite my never haven been seen by one. Unreal. Such a shame that such a new hospital that has somewhat of a good staff has to treat patients this way. I do not recommend this hospital.
They took great care of me there the first time I rushed there and my follow up return visit 10 days later. The PA gentleman who took care of me initially and stitched me up was great and the PA woman (Sara) who removed my stitches was terrific too. The entire staff was wonderful; thank you.
Hands down the worst experience ive ever had in a emergency room. Went in coughing my lungs out, high fever, chills, and muscle weakness that i could barely walk. Aside the from the wait being excessively long due to FOUR nurses calling out on the same day (triage nurse told me, that even felt bad for her, due to the overwhelming amount of work that was being thrown at her). Experience was horrible starting from the Xray tech, to the doctor, all the way to the discharge secretary. I had to beg the doctor to give me something for the chills, as i was shivering uncontrollably, and she only gave me ibuprofen towards the end as the nurse was handing the discharge papers. I was in no conditions to walk out by myself, but i was so furious and lucky to have a relative there with me to help me walk out that i didnt want to start a scene. I walked out feeling worse, then how o came in. Heres the catch, the doctor* said my lungs were fine, but towards the end she diagnosed with acute bronchitis, but also mentioned in the beginning that my larynx was inflammated. Had to leave to lennox Hill to get adequate treatment to at least be able to breathe better. Im considering taking legal action. If youre sick and you value your life and health, by all means avoid this emergency room!
I was in the emergency room with extreme headaches which affected my balance and nerves. The headaches were excruciating that I could not walk because the pressure of the pain hightened. As well as when Id lay down it got worse. The doctor that saw me. Yes SAW me, not examined me. Which he shouldve properly. Just looked at me as if I were another dollar sign. Says that there isnt anything abnormal in my CT scan nor urine test. They didnt even do bloodwork to check if I may have an infection etc. And I do not even believe they checked my urine because as I observed the nurses, I saw that all they did was walk around typing stuff into the computers, with a urine sample placed on the bottom of the computer system roll about. Very unprofessional and unfriendly. I called the nurse to ask a question which i got a nasty response of him saying WHAT!, then he realized that he was out of line and ACTED friendly. I am sick of people who get hired in the medical field that have no empathy for patients that are ill. Noone wants to be ill but it happens, and we sure do not want to be treated as ginny pigs and trash. And this so called Doctor told me with an attitude there is nothing in the CT scan and even if I do bloodwork I am still sending you home. Well doctor you may have gone to school for medicine but to be sincere and kind to patients is a hard thing to learn if you arent born or raised that way. And the diagnosis of me having just anxiety is very wrong, because anxiety does not make me wake up with a swollen eye and blurred vision. With chills and still pressure in my head. Im disappointed and dont know where to go for this emergency, seeing that this hospital isnt the only one that will give me a negative experience. Make sure you take care of your health and overall well being folks because we are doomed in this world with the medical field, dental field and many others.
Horrible emergency department. Nurse told me directly in front of two patients that they are understaff with doctors. There were only two doctors currently in the unit seeing patients. The doctor with the silver chain was sitting in front of the computer screen for hours. The other doctor smiled with embarrassment when I told the nurse “you’re telling me there are only two doctors covering this unit?”I waited for our three hours. For nothing. I left. No way in hell this hospital is going to Bill my insurance. The patient next to me was waiting for 3 hours as well with a big opened cut with a broken finger in pain. He asked the nurse to please assist him but her statement “we have to wait for doctors orders”Why did you become a nurse then? What’s the purpose? For job security and benefits?Obviously....She’s a nurse...clean his womb in the meantime offer patient care. Don’t just stare at him with your moving computer for show. It’s funny because I’m pursuing Global Health Care Policy and to witness the workflow of this department was an embarrassment.Too many standby nurses waiting for a doctor to tell them what to do.Horrible horrible department. There needs to be a change of management. Positive upbeat workflow. These health professionals do the same thing every day we get it but these patients most of the time come one time...make it a safe healthy comfortable environment. These professionals are making really good money for what....to type away on their EHR with no patient in sight.
Rude staff. Im sorry if Im burdening you with an emergency??Bald guy who did the EKG was a douchebag. Kept telling stupid inappropriate jokes. How hard is it to just say something like funny weather we have today huh?.The nurses are clearly understaffed and overworked, I dont blame them for having an edge but dont take it out on patients, they dont give a damn. One lady inside by the x-ray rooms was sitting there doing what looked like nothing for an hour was almost harassing what seemed like a repeat patient who had a miscarriage. The intake nurse lady at the front was pleasant, everyone else around her was not.Security guards seem super relaxed here. People without ID were just walking through into the emergency room and they dont even bother to ask if they need help or anything. A mob boss could get his target super easily in this ER.The actual doctor was nice. Had no issues with him, he gave me the amount of time that I pretty much expected before he had to run, about a full two minutes total. Also the waiting area was nice, recently renovated. If I was dying and had to wait somewhere, it is above par compared to some other places.Spent a total of 2 1/2 hours here. Pretty quiet at the time, but I think a very serious case came in at some point which delayed us so time was.. ok?
It was my worst and the most unsatisfying experience i ever had the waiting time was extremeIy long I came around 12 i was in the hospital for 5 hours and 4 of these 5 hours were just waiting time i left around 5:30. I woke up with a bad flu, I had a sore throat and my tonsils were inflamed. I came to the hospital with severe pain seeking help cause i wasn’t functioning properly the day before and I fainted too, 5 hours later I left still in pain with only bunch of pain killers that didnt even help. My visit to the ER was totally worthless, and disappointing!
Came in around 6:30 pm. took 3 hours for someone to draw blood and go for my CT. The ER on the West wing was slow. But the nurses and PAs felt the need to talk more about their personal lives with each other rather than help the people waiting. After someone went over my results with me they told me I would be moved to a bed upstairs and that was around 9:45 pm. It is now currently 1:15 in the morning and I’ve still yet to be brought up stairs. Mean while they feel the need to put people who are waiting for a bed upstairs, into rooms in the ER where they won’t turn off the lights, or provide a pillow or even give you an extra sheet to stay warm. Not sure about you but I like to sleep once in a while. Extremely slow and poor communication among the staff here.
Save 4 hours of your life and hundreds of dollars by buying Advil at the pharmacy. They will not give you a diagnosis or treat the pain. You will wait in pain for whatever disease or injury you have for hours, they don’t even attempt to make you feel better. This place is absolute trash. Don’t go here, you might be worse off.
Awful. 2 IV saline’s and a Tylenol for over six hours of waiting. Repeatedly asked to speak to the doctor so we could be discharged since nothing was happening, kept deferring saying he would talk to us in “two minutes” to re-evaluate but never came. In total spoke to him for no more than three mins. Nurse not any more helpful.
I had a great experience here tonight. I waited to get an issue with my knee checked out because of a hospital phobia, but the staff here quickly assuaged my worries. Dorothy in particular was really nice to me, and Rudy was an amazingly helpful PA.I did hesitate to give it 5 stars because of one particular person on duty there who clearly refused to look at me or acknowledge me as a human being. She ignored me completely when I got up to ask for help (with a busted knee, after waiting two hours, in the most polite tone I could muster.) When I say ignored, I mean refused to look at me or make eye contact at all. I initially spoke directly to her and rather than look at me, she stared intently at her computer screen. Anyway, even though she was terrible the gentleman working with her was very friendly and quick to jump in, he made me feel much better and let me know I’d be taken care of soon!So basically, other than this one bad apple, everyone I encountered from the greeted to the discharge person was very friendly and helpful.
So much improvement with the new ER. Despite the unfortunate circumstances that brought us there I still considered it a lucky day as the care we got was surprisingly fast and efficient. After the triage nurse wheeled my husband to the main ER ,my husband was accorded to a room and within a matter of minutes was x rayed, hooked up to the monitor, blood drawn, and IVPort placed. And soon after came the doctor asked for more history and evaluation of the ekg, and initial diagnosis .Right behind him was the nurse administering meds thru IV.. we just waited for BP to go down to normal. And when he responded well to the meds we were discharged right away. In less than 2 hours my husband was saved from the brink of getting a stroke and was out of there treated and sent home with a prescription in less than 2 hrs. I am a registered nurse , and this is close to miracle. Thanks to ER staff and more power to the institution.
The absolute worst healthcare service I have ever gotten in my life. Is this really an emergency room? The staff are extremely rude and horrible and careless. I’d say you can come here, if you love wasting time and getting treated horribly when you’re extremely sick!!!!
Long wait for my 4 yr old !!! i came in at 7:30 pm and it’s 11pm and my sons fever hasn’t come down and they haven’t done a thing about it .. let me also mention that they gave us a room they didn’t clean up first , as a matter of fact they didn’t clean at all we couldn’t even sit our son on the dirty bed !! Worst er ever !!!!
When you go to the emergency room you have to wait a all day to get checked no one pay you attention they bring you in take all your information insurance and stuff like that but one you in you can sleep wake up and no one came to you I already left the hospital 3 times because the waiting time

2022-06-05STAY AWAY FROM THEM. Wrong treatment - wrong advise by doctor - JIMMY Y LEE (for a UTI)I took my 2 and 1/2 year old child to the emergency room for urinary discomfort. He was crying and screaming so badly, urine was not clear and he was in pain. They did not give any treatment, told us that, it has to cure itself.Since his pain and suffering did not change, after about 5 hours we took him to the same emergency room hoping they will give us some treatment. It was about 12 am. The doctor JIMMY Y LEE saw him and told that it happened because we did not do his circumcision (wrong). The doctor did not introduce himself to me at the beginning - I was not sure that he was the Doctor. He wrote a cream and send to a Pharmacy near the hospital, although it is not my pharmacy and it was closed at night. He came back to nurse desk with some papers. I had a chance to ask him what to do. He answered me why I am asking him same question and he said again, it happened because his circumcision was not done and he left saying we can not do anything, although I did not asked him any question before. HE WAS SO RUDE. They gave a dose of Tylenol and a cream to the pharmacy. This doctor need the education of the professional ethics. I came back by 4 am with my son who is pain. My son suffered about 4 days in pain for this so called Doctor and emergency rooms wrong treatment. Finally his primary care opened the office after Sunday and holiday, and gave my son treatment for UTI. Thanks God he is fine now.I want to give star to the nurse who helped us better than the doctor. The doctor is not fit for one star. Since there is nothing less than one star I am giving one star.

2022-05-12The Worst hospital Ever, Emergency Room in Astoria.I was in emergency room this week. My baby had fever 103. My baby was shaking and the fever caused a seizure (convulsion)1 year old baby. The doctor came late. He didnt do nothing to her after he came. He didnt visit her, to check the brain , to check everything to her. Nothinggggg. Only the nurse gave my baby tylenol. I ask the doctor how much Tylenol should give to my baby at home? His answer : check the description inside. I checked the description paper inside was writing: ASK the doctor for babys 1 year old how much Tylenol should take. Name of the Doctor: Jeffrey Levine .

2021-12-31The white girl at the reception on December 30, 2021, between 1:00 and 3:45, she is so unprofessional and rude, she is completely unqualified to deal with patients. I cried a lot because of her ignoring and bad treatment of me. she really hurt me more psychologically.

2021-10-31A few months ago I visited a patient who was being treated in the emergency room. Her experience was a positive one but what I witnessed and heard was concerning. I saw a young black doctor engaged in a conversation with a male who turned out to be the director of nurses for the emergency room or so I was told. This director appeared to be talking in a demeaning tone to this doctor and made a statement concerning a patient that was pregnant. The doctor repeatedly reminded the nurse that he placed orders for the patient and there seemed to be a delay in her care. From what I saw the doctor was communicating and doing his job. The director of nurses was not concerned with the delay by his nurses but more so about the repeated attempts by the doctor to get his patient’s care started. The next thing I heard from the director of nursing was she would have probably lost it anyway. Not only did it show the lack of empathy from the director of nursing but it was a tasteless comment to make. As a minority woman to see this man speak down to a black employee the way he did and to make the statement is why Mount Sinai has a bad reputation. It was disheartening to see and hear and if I had a choice I would not choose this hospital. It’s no wonder some of the nurses don’t care when this is who was chosen to lead.

2021-07-17I dont know if there were different doctors from the reviews below but we took my 5.5 month old to this ER on thursday night and Dr Amanda Bates was incredible. She was so thorough and communicative and I felt so comfortable and happy that my son was in her care. We eventually got admitted to the main hospital but I am grateful that she was our first line of treatment. Not enough words to appreciate what an amazing doctor she is.

2021-11-24When this place first opened up, the service was a lot better but lately it’s been getting worse and worse. Only come here if you’re desperate and even then don’t come here unless you want to be stuck in a chair for several hours and treated like a burden.

2021-07-28Yes, the wait is incredibly long if you are not in danger of dying. However, this is common with emergency rooms. The staff were incredibly friendly. I was there for five hours, and it is tough to be waiting when you are in pain. There is a sign that says people are treated in priority of urgency. I did not like waiting, but there were also people who were crying in pain, vomiting, and lying on stretchers struggling to breathe. They do put people in rooms, so one might not see these people (especially those with severe conditions) and think that it’s not so busy and question why the wait is so long. Each test takes a while (like an hour between each), so if you have something that is harder to diagnose (like abdominal pain) it will be much longer than just an x-ray for a broken limb. I thought the staff was considerate and did try their best to get people treated.

2021-12-02They sat me down and gave me fluids for having gastrospasm. I stayed two hours there and one doc checked on me once, said I was fine and discharged me. A month later, they charged me 6300 dollars, fortunately it’s in my network so I ONLY have to pay 2400. On the EOB it states hydrating me costed me 1100 and the doc who checked on me is charging me 900 dollars. I was prepared ER is going to cost me a fortune when I walked in, I just couldn’t have foreseen how ridiculous the pricing was going to be. Plus the place was dirty and looked unsafe, choose any urgent care over this.
