Disappointing. This “boutique” hotel misses the mark for many reasons. Tiny, claustrophobic rooms, no closet and no dressers-only one pull out drawer built into the base of the bed. The flooring In the rooms are cheap parquet and the lighting was an elaborate push button system that only worked intermittently. There was a tiny pull-down “table” built into the wall (18”x24”) and the “chairs” to go with it were fold up barstools stored on a wall hook. The first day we were there we had no hot water and when I called the front desk and told them they nonchalantly said they would send up an engineer as if this happened all the time. Never saw an engineer. Upon check-in they said to download the app for hotel information but the “Moxy” app on the App Store was for a hotel in Amsterdam, Netherlands and the Marriott Bonvoy app didn’t have information specific to this hotel. No information in the room about the hotel at all. I know this hotel is going for a trendy, hip vibe but it’s really just a poorly thought out design and implementation. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because it at least was in a safe area and clean.
We had a great stay at the Moxy. All staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is quite cute. The big lobby area on floor 3 is meant to be a hip bar/restaurant with sofas, games etc and of course lots of tables. The bar is closed, so it is serving more as an open space/retreat from bustling nyc. They put out coffee and tea in the mornings, light snacks in the afternoon. Room was clean and comfy. Only complaint is water pressure was ok but underwhelming. Subway stop at fulton st one block away. We would stay here again.
Katya the manager charged me the wrong rate for my two night stay, before I left she made me sure that a credit was being processed. Instead of credited me the difference, she charged my card AGAIN. We are talking $1600 now. She did not deal with this like a manager should nor did she make things right for me. They say customer service is their priority, get a manager who commits to this then and knows what they are doing.
Staff stole over $1000 from my friend and I. Knocked on the door at around 8 am and said they wanted to “check if we needed more towels or to empty the trash” and that it would only be five minutes. My friend goes to the bar for some water and comes back up the same time the lady is leaving. We check the room and the trash is still full and there are no new towels it looks the same. We didn’t think much of it until we got home later that day and our money isn’t where it was. Last time we saw it was the night before. An employee was also trying to get my friend to sleep with him. Managers and whoever we call refer us to Marriott’s customer service and we believe they blocked our number bc it goes straight to voicemail now. They ask for our side of the story then proceed to say it doesn’t make sense. Say they are gonna check the key card data to see who entered but that doesn’t make sense bc we told them they knocked on the door. SMH I’ve never had such a bad experience at a hotel😐
Absolutely disgusting. Stay here at your own risk; you’ll likely get sick from their extremely dirty water if it even comes out at all. Service is generally speaking, poor with a few exceptions. A disaster and severely damaging to Marriott’s reputation - and the worst part? Not even low cost. See the photo for yourself.
Update:I met with Pedro the Food and Beverage director and This guy single handed changed my experience to 5 stars. Hats off to him. Hook this man up with a rise. He sat down and had a great conversation with myself and my girlfriend and really went the extra mile for us.While I still wish they could turn the music down a bit during the day for coworking experiences the place is overall super dope. If you’re looking for an event space for a chill pre game for the company or a place to take clients for a meeting. Would recommend.
ONLY STAY HERE IF IT IS YOUR LAST RESORT. I honestly have no earthly idea whatsoever as to why this racket is rated above one star. The staff hides in the back from their responsibilities, the “hotel” doesn’t provide bars of soap, the showers have no temperature gauge (it’s either scalding hot with normal pressure or ice cold with little to no pressure), rooms sizes are falsified, the showers don’t work when it freezes outside, the basketball court is unavailable due to made up reasons, the “arcade” is a joke, pretend “engineers” are employed, and the general manager was nowhere to be found. No answers if something goes awry, they just hand you the GMs card and says it their fault, when they just hide in the back with 15 Plus guests looking for a resolution of their situation. Location is the only appeal to this place, oh yeah, almost forgot, have to go up 3 floors to the lobby. Just false pretenses all over the website. Do yourself a favor and stay at an ACTUAL Marriott.
I am appalled by the customer service here. I spent over a grand to stay here. 2 days after I left they charged me $523 . When i called to inquire about it, i was told it was a mistake and would be back in my account in a week. A week goes by and I received nothing. I called back apparently the first person i spoke to never processed the refund and that it would be returned in 2 days. It has been 5 days since then and nothing. I’ve called several times to talk to the manager and have been put on hold for mer than an hour
It’s 1:30 am and it’s been 80 degrees in our room since we checked in. A call downstairs hours ago was met with “someone’s working on it.” Now no one is answering the phone. I stay at a place like this for the comfort of a Marriott with a funny vibe but it’s all kind of lacking right now.

This place is the worst lol. people sit in the lounge and STEAL YOUR CREDIT CARDS RIGHT OUT OF YOUR PURSE. The manager is literally useless and didnt do anything for me let alone even provide me with security footage when I know exactly who stole my card. if you ever there and see two suspicious people of color run they will steal your card.
Room is pretty small. Zero storage for clothes. The shower has no pressure at all. The door for the bathroom kept coming off the track. The tv would cut out. Can’t really connect to the internet here. The bar isn’t open. If you plan on getting late starts after 11 everyday then your room will never get serviced. No nightstands or anything to set anything on. The best thing was it was just quite, probably due to not a lot of people being here.
AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS. I’m a small business owner that provided services for them before the pandemic started in order to get the money I was due and they have ghosted by them ever since march of 2020. Sent numerous emails to the GM and front desk and they have been ignored for over a year. How can a company that values customer service ignore someone? Guess they just must not care how they treat people.
A client of mine booked a room for me to decorate for her girlfriend’s birthday & the staff were so kind & very helpful. The hotel has a nice vibe to it. There are fun games in the lobby and a basketball court. The room was clean & my clients loved everything. @iPicnix for pictures & inquiries. Thank you Moxy staff!
Bar was closed, very limited food, ran out of coffee both mornings, check in line was extremely long, staff was rude, rooms were small with limited amenities, fire alarm went off for 1+ hours at midnight. Very expensive for what you get, even as a Marriott rewards member.
This hotel has a nuisance LED sign that flashes all day and night similar to signs found in Times Square. Neighbors have repeatedly asked them to turn the sign down and they have refused, saying it is a part of their marketing. The sign is bright enough to go through blackout curtains. Avoid this hotel. You can get a much cheaper room at nicer hotels in the area, such as the Hilton.
I had the delightful pleasure to stay for two nights at this hotel! The service was top-notch except for our room not being cleaned on our second day and having to request towels. Definitely not a deal breaker! Everything else made up for it! Front desk staff no matter what time or who was there was always friendly and helpful! Richard always offered to lend a hand to help and interacted with our children! The bar/ recreation room absolutely perfect for is all! We hit the bar and the kids played basketball and other available games all in the same space! So fun ! Music! Awesome vibe!
I stayed with my partner for 5 nights and every day it was a wonderful experience. The space is quite small, but for New York, I thought it was the perfect amount of space for both my partner and I. The bed is soft and got great rest. The lobby area is cool to chill out and hang out playing games at the bar. Whenever we needed anything to be fixed or sent up to our room, the staff was really quick to make sure all of those were taken care of. I would definitely recommend not only to couples, but for a girls trip, as well. It was a wonderful stay and I would definitely want to come back again.
Really comfortable beds, pillows and sheets. the hotel is so clean and well maintained. standard is very high - the staff are attentive and really friendly. I was here for work although the bar of the hotel is very lively and DJs are there wednesday - saturday. In a great location for FIDI also. I would actually stay at this hotel even if I was not working nearby - i loved it. The gym is small but has enough for what you need for a few days, after that it may get rather boring. Hotel facilities are great and the interior and deco is very cool.
Great hotel with an amazing staff! A special thanks to Noelle: amazing service! And thanks for the upgrade!!I would recommend the standard checking instead of the automatic one: human contact is always better. This new hotel have all you need. It’s clean and very comfortable. As well as the location: perfect for visiting the city. The only point I would improve is an installation of a wardrobe: indeed it’s a bit challenging without it with 2 people in the room. The price for the room is reasonable for all facilities provided. The lobby and the bar are great: all you need to relax after a long day and before the night life!
LOVED staying at this hotel! Its hip, lively and modern. Its definitely targeting the 20-40 something age bracket, so I can see why some folks may not appreciate all the amenities and style. It is located about a block or so from the Fulton subway station, which has multiple lines, so super convenient for travelling around the city. Its also very close to the 9/11 memorials, occulus, and One Word Trade. The check-in lobby is pretty small, and I thought it was odd the check-in area with staff was just laptops on top of crates on a tiny desk, but other than that the check-in experience was good. We got there a few hours early on a Friday and were still able to check in and get our room. We were recognized for being Marriott rewards members and given 2 free drink tickets, which we ended up using for coffee/tea the morning we left. While we didnt use the main lounge space (Im a bit bummed I didnt get to use the skee ball machines), it was definitely a popular and fun spot, and was PACKED at happy hour Friday night. While the hallways to the rooms are a bit dorm room-esque, the rooms are modern, sleek, and optimize all available space (folding wall table, hangers and hooks on the wall instead of a closet, sliding bathroom door with mirror on it, storage under the bed, etc..). We had a king room and while it was small (Id estimate about 200 sq. ft.) it didnt feel super cramped. I enjoyed the modern luxury shower with multiple shower heads, several adjustable lighting options throughout the room/bathroom, and the floor-to-ceiling windows with adjustable shades. The bed was comfortable and modern, though the blankets could have been a bit better/thicker. The chair swing in the main space was a fun photo op too. The only glitch during our stay was with internet connectivity. We had to stop down at the front desk and have the staff connect us to another network. Overall a fun, accommodating hotel for couples, young adults, and young professionals!
This modern hotel is a short walk to the Freedom tower, and shopping. Fulton street subway is two blocks away. It is quiet by NY standards. The room decor is modern, Ikeaish. I had an average room with a Queen bed. The square footage was under 150, with a high ceiling. The bathroom was nice, impeccably clean with a large shower, large bright mirror, under the sink and over the toilet storage. Towels are average. There is a nice heavy sliding mirror door for bathroom entry. There was no closet. The luggage has to be next to bed and feet or standing in the hallway between BR and bed. Modern wall racks have hooks and hangers which you will need to use. It was bright with a large window; no blackout curtains, however. I thought the staff was efficient, very helpful and most of all very nice. They were attentive to the elevator as a security precaution. You need a room card to get to your specific floor. The bar and third floor had games including Pac man, chess, air hockey. There were nice areas to sit and relax on the sofas or sit at a table to use your computers. There is no reason to eat in your room. Just enjoy the comfortable bed and nice shower and large TV for the small amount of time you will be in the room. Although small, there was no sense of stuffiness about it. It felt fresh and relaxing. I really did like this place. I would stay here again, but I just got a place in Brooklyn. For nearby food, I recommend The Hole in the Wall for breakfast and BY Chloe for the best non-traditional salads.
Moxy is definitely a hotel for the geared towards the young and hip. It’s fun and has a lively environment and the staff are less traditional than your typical hotel. Check in was a breeze and immediately upon entering the main lobby on the 3 floor, not the entrance of the hotel, you are greeted by a beautiful lounge/bar. I didn’t get to try the drink there but based on the crowd I expect they must be pretty good. The rooms are all labeled with beautiful neon signs, extra points for creativity as I have never seen this in a hotel. And yes the rooms are small but also so welcoming. The cozy-ness of the room makes it feel simple and easy. I love the design on hanging hooks against the wall rather than a closet and the sliding barn door for the bathroom. Some how they managed to fit a suspended chair chain from the roof and the ground, I guess they didn’t want people completely swinging around, but it’s so cool how they managed. I hope to see more of these hotels in other cities as I would totally make this my first pick if I ever see one available in a location I’m visiting. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone consiereding!
The staff was great! Loved the decor, room was clean, bed was comfy. I was impressed with the shampoo/conditioner that was provided. The bar/lounge was fun, had a cool vibe. Free morning coffee is always a plus! I would definitely stay here again! Location is convenient for shopping, sightseeing, and very close to the subway station!
This hotel was a good find for a work trip, where I could walk to my offices downtown in the financial district. The price was excellent, the hotel staff was friendly and the accommodations were clean. The room size was fine for me but definitely cozy by American standards. They had a trendy lobby which was buzzing during happy hours, and I received a free glass of wine for my stay. My only complaints were the set up, which required taking 2 different elevators to get to the room, and getting room keys to work properly seemed to be a problem for several, as I had issues and there was a warning sign in the elevator.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Moxy. The location was wonderful and close to many food establishments, subway station, and tourist areas (brooklyn bridge, 9/11 memorial, etc). Check in was fast and easy, and despite check in being later in the afternoon, The Moxy was able to accomodate our early arrival. My son enjoyed the aracade games and the drinks at the bar were delicious. The room was small, as is expected for NY, however, the use of the space is brilliant! We felt as if we had plenty of storage and plenty of room to move around. I also enjoyed the full size bottles of soap, shampoo and conditioner. Better quality that the usual hotel as well. Overall, I really recommend this hotel.
As a new property, I was impressed by the friendly and excellent customer service I experienced throughout my stay. I want to especially give a shout out to Noel and Sam at the front desk, who had to deal with my companys (somewhat) obnoxious travel agent and the mix up with our company credit card during check-in. Noel and Sam were gracious and patient with me, gave me drink coupons so I could relax at the bar after my long flight, and as a Gold Elite, upgraded me to a higher floor and King room. These personal touches were so very appreciated! The high customer service continued throughout my stay -- with great bartenders and servers who were attentive wheter I was working or hanging out in the common area downstairs. I also appreciated the diversity in your staff, as well as the amazing design and vibe of the hotel rooms, bar, and common area. The lobby design is a great concept! This energy is in sharp contrast to the more outdated, stodgy, and old hotels Ive stayed at in the past. The rooms and beds were comfortable, and bathroom was well appointed. I didnt even miss not having a closet, and the location was perfect and close to restaurants (like Nobu) and the subway. Thank you for a wonderful first experience! Ill definitely be coming back.
I had a fantastic stay at Moxy NYC Downtown. I was a bit worried at first being all the way in the Financial District, however, once I realized how effortless it was to get to the rest of of Manhattan I realized it wasnt an issue. This hotel is close to a lot of world class attractions including the One World Trade Center, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. The hotel and the rooms were very trendy and the rooms in particular I thought were smartly laid out. I thought the staff could have been a bit more engaging and interested in the guests, however this is probably more a result of me traveling by myself and wanting to talk to people. The staff were respectful and accommodating. The hotel was clean and the lobby was a fun place to go to after a long day of sight seeing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
I stayed a weekend at the Downtown Moxy to use a free night certificate and was SO amazed at how cool this place is! Wish I could have stayed longer! l heres why:THE DESIGN/DECOR The cool vibe is conveyed throughout the property from the street (almost invisible) to check in to the lobby to the rooms to the common areas. Love the thoughtful design and selection of furniture pieces in the relatively small rooms, the humor in the artwork and on the walls everywhere, and the color and materials choices. There is a comfortable swing in the king rooms, a large TV with option to connect to your personal streaming services (nice!), a sliding artwork that reveals a window into the bathroom - ha, and a pretty big luxurious bathroom for the room size. THE LOBBY/BARI loved the concept of the lively, open lobby floor with games, the bar and hangout seating areas all around.....something different and very comfortable. Also VERY happy to find the bar served some food until 11am (i hate when there is no breakfast option after 10!) and the bagel and salmon I had was EXTRA good (and im a new yorker...). The free drink tokens were a nice treat too - keep that up. Makes a difference and made me stay longer to use them and eat - smart. The cool basketball room was amazing - kids were playing - so cool - nice touch. Having the front desk by the elevators was also nice - friendly staff everywhere - and they were able to keep an eye on who was coming and going to offer assistance as needed. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who has to stay in the wall street area for work - but I also would want to go back for a weekend relaxation trip in this cool, tucked away block...its quiet on weekends and you can do shopping/sight seeing easily from this location.Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Incredible customer service! A little mixup at the beginning of our stay as to which room we were in, the staff figured it out quickly and professionally and comped is with food and drinks. The bar area was very young and hip, fun place for a cocktail in the evening. Room was small but over all a great stay for a weekend getaway! Would definitely stay again!
The Moxy is a contemporary jewel hidden just blocks from the WTC. The entrance was staffed at all times and was well-light, even though the hotel is hidden on a darker street. I felt safe in the hotel. The amenities were superb--a bustling lobby and lounge/bar area, an updated gym, and even a basketball court. The rooms were small, but the space was efficiently utilized. And the rooms were CLEAN and quiet. The lounge area provided a fun atmosphere for relaxing after a day exploring downtown NYC. The decor all over the hotel was contemporary and chic, but not overdone. It had great character. This would be a perfect hotel for travelers and young couples who are sightseeing or on a weekend retreat from the real world.
Stayed at this hotel during Pride weekend. Came to the hotel decked out in support of Pride. The lobby is tight but still welcoming and a bit stylish. Got my room key quickly and efficiently. Very friendly at the desk and professional. My room was upgraded which already started the weekend off nice. Had to take an elevator up 3 floors to another lobby which is where the bar and social area is. Very surprised when I got to the floor of how nice and inviting this area looked. Took another set of elevators to my room in which you have to swipe your card key in order to get to your floor which tells me, they have security. The hallways were clean and got to my room which was a huge surprise because I wasnt expecting to see how nice the room was and how up to date it was. I was really impressed with a button operated shade opener and light dimmer for a relaxing night. Nice touch. Like how theres a small window to look from the shower to where the bed is. Another nice touch. Went down to the bar area for a quick meal and a drink. Their flatbreads are to die for. Loved their Breakfast flatbread and their hot chicken flatbread! Overall I will definitely stay here again!
We loved this hotel! The downtown area has become much cooler and is close to Brooklyn and East Village (my fave areas for food and drinks). This property is GREAT! The lobby area is unreal - a huge bar area with games and a place to hang out. The room was quiet and super comfortable, big comfy bed, a nice bathroom, we had a swing seat in ours. They make great use of the space.
I had limited interaction with the staff but those I spoke with seemed very friendly. The hotel has an odd elevator setup presumably to get you to stop by the bar and purchase drinks. You are required to switch over to another set of elevators to get to your room and basically have to wait in a club style atmosphere (including the dj, minus the dancing) in order to get to your floor. You have to use your room card to send the elevator to your floor. If the guests in front of you are slow with their cards you may miss your floor and have to wait until the elevator is heading back down. This happened to me several times. The room was tiny like a little European hotel room. There was no mini fridge!!!! I found this terribly inconvenient and disappointing as I wanted to pick up some fruit and yogurt at the grocery store but I had nowhere to store them. I also had no view, but I was on the third floor so thats typical. However, I think some rooms had very nice views because on the occasions I was stuck heading to a higher floor because the other guests were slow with their room cards in the elevator I saw sunshine lol and the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. There is no closet in the room just a series of wall hooks. They were kind of cute but its just a little strange. I think the location is great. You have subway access all around you and it is very close to the World Trade Center and Path train. The price was very good for most of the days of my stay but Im sure that wont be the case indefinitely. Would I stay there again? Yes, but personally, I would check other hotels first. But I think if you like going to the club, or drinking in loud bars you would definitely love it! But I must say I heard no noise from the bar in my room. However, the guest room doors close with a loud thunk so inconsiderate neighbors heading back and forth to said bar might be your downfall. I eventually had to put my noise cancelled earbuds in so I could get some sleep but that only happened on my last night. I dont normally write reviews and Im trying to be fair so there were things I liked and things I didnt about this hotel. If youre in your twenties, like to pretend youre in your twenties or if youre going through a mid-life crisis I think youll love it!
Cute hotel. Very cramped “lobby” long check in lines. Tablets for fast self check in were all having issues. You have to take one elevator that only goes to the bar and transfer over to a second to get to your room. Waited over 10 minutes at the 2 working elevators , 3rd was down because someone got stuck inside , still ended up taking the stairs . The hallway leading to our room was disgusting and the carpet needs a cleaning. The room itself was much smaller than I expected for the price I paid but still a nice room with cute details. The bathroom floor looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived. There was also hairs stuck in the light fixture by the bed and smudges on the leather headboard. our room did not have a mini fridge, ice bin, microwave or any of the expected minimum amenities. The room did have an iron and board as well as a blow dryer. Overall the hotel was just inconvenient . Would not book again, expected a lot more for the price.
Terrible, terrible, slow, disorganized check in process. Rooms were not ready when I arrived at 4 (check in is 3). Wasnt just me, other guests were all being told the same. Sorry, if I pay for a room, I expect to be able to use it. The excuse was they were full the night before, but if you know you are full, then you should be prepared with staff for the next day. Plus reading the other reviews, this appears to be a common occurrence. Additionally, lines at the front desk were always long.Next, you had to take elevators to 3rd floor then transfer to another set to access the rooms. Highly inconvenient. The room was nice, modern, minimalist design and clean. I thought they made good use of small space.Staff was always friendly but not sure that makes up for a lack of organization. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again due to check in experience.
As a titanium elite member let me start off by saying thank you to Marriott, I appreciate the hard work and dedication I see 9/10 times among the Marriott staff. However, The Moxy NYC downtown was one of the worst Marriott properties I have ever stayed at in my time with the hotel chain. DO NOT STAY HERE. Understaffed and the staff they do utilize is a very entitled and unprofessional group. There is no clear senior manager on staff to handle any guess complaints. Staff will give you push back if you do happen to have an issues with anything. At one point in our stay hotel security attempted to remove my fiancee and I from the hotel property for committing a 2 person in bathroom violation. If the staff had asked me why we did this, they would have come to find my fiancee had a wardrobe malfunction and needed assistance to resolve the issue. This was an embarrassing moment for her and I, even more so when staff began to question the legitimacy of the malfunction. I will also add the hotel does not make you aware or provide signage to clarify this lobby/bar bathroom rule. As stated before I love the Marriott properties, bar none the best hotel staff in the industry. I will continue my stay with the chain, however, recommend corporate take a serious look at the operations of this location.
The Moxy is beautiful, like absolutely breathtaking. The best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. It’s fun and fresh, close by to stores and food like Starbucks, chic fil a, CVS and others. Was able to walk the Brooklyn Bridge because it was like a block away. Staff are friendly and helpful. Can’t get over our room, the view was amazing! Everything was clean and omg my room was insane!!! The bathroom was beautiful. The light above the sink is gorgeous, perfect to do your makeup in front of to take photos. The shower had closing doors and not just one door so water wasn’t getting anywhere. Able to watch Netflix and Hulu and use the Bluetooth to connect your phone. Was given two tokens at check in to use for drinks on the 3rd floor and it was bomb! Definitely going to book here every time I come to visit New York! It was like a 2 minute walk to the Subway and just great!
Dont stay at the Moxy Hotel at 26 Ann St, NYC if you care about the people who live in the FiDi community. The Moxy Hotel broadcasts gigantic LED videos that trespass their neighbors apartments, keeping them up day and night. Many of these people already have cancers and other serious medical conditions from the collapse of the World Trade Center. The light pollution coming from the Moxy Hotel is adding insult to injury. The Moxy owners wont even meet with the community. If you see the videos and huge advertising signs as if FiDi was Times Square, please check into another hotel or at least ask the Moxy management to stop harassing their neighbors just for their own profit.
Great stylish hotel with the perfect setup for millennials looking to rest their heads and be out and about most of the time. Loved their basketball court and their DJs were amazing! Great place for a drink with friends a before going out to dinner. Just be careful that they dont put you in an accessibility room... It is different in terms of setup from their other rooms on their site
My wife and I loved our stay at this hotel. Though the rooms were a little on the smaller side, I’d imagine that’s a common problem with a lot of the hotels in the area. No issue though, as the mood, the design, and the overall atmosphere made for a great stay. It was real “NYC” feeling. I also really enjoyed the location. It’s only a couple minutes walk from the Brooklyn Bridge. That made for awesome morning jog. The World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial are also a couple blocks away. Shopping’s close. Great food spots are also nearby. The access to the Fulton Street Subway Station also meant I could get anywhere uptown very easily. I would not hesitate to choose this hotel again for my next NYC visit. Thanks to the amazing staff!
Stayed here for 4 nights, and everything was amazing. Stylish room, with all the amenities I needed. Trendy rooms, with a cool bar. The hotel has a great atmosphere. The location is amazing. Not too busy, and right next door to Fulton Station, with 13 train lines that can take you anywhere in New York. Highly recommend!
Very nice for the price point and great staff. I felt welcome and the room was quiet and very comfortable for my purposes. I will be staying here when I come to NYC. It does seem a bit hard to get to for UBER drivers, but that is not the hotel, they were great. Plenty of food choices near by, but the restaurant inside is good, although a very limited menu. Staff was excellent in every department.
We stayed for 10 nights at the Moxy. Check in was swift yet staff did not relay information about workings of the hotel or local area. I guess they’re too busy for that. The rooms are very small and whilst they did make great use of space for 10 days it was very frustrating and became increasingly difficult. The bed was very comfortable! Thank goodness. It’s saving grace really. The shower would leak all over the bathroom floor. Housekeeping were hit and miss when they would turn the room over. We ran out of toilet paper and clean towels 3 times. Our tv broke twice and our in room phone didn’t work either.Coffee is available from the bar downstairs gratis, but for some reason the times would always change and it wasn’t reliable.Overall the hotel is in such a great location that if you are going to be out and about all day it would be fine.
The beds were absolutely amazing!!! The staff seemed very young and junior level and a bit unprofessional compared to other marriot properties, but were really helpful. It would have been nice if they were a little more attentive. One of the staff members at the lobby desk was checking his hair in his phone mirror while the other was assisting us. This was a bit unprofessional. I would recommend the staff be a bit more attentive and more friendly but when you ask them a specific question, they were very helpful. They didnt go out of their way necessarily. It would have been nice if they went the extra mile! Overall, very good experience and I would definitely recommend to family and friends.
Its a hip, youth-oriented hotel thats fine for people who want an affordable place to crash for a weekend, or the youngs who want a cool clubhouse to hang out into to do work. Rooms are small by design but well apportioned. Its also very close to a large subway stop so its a great location to stay even if your business isnt downtown. Bar service was my biggest debit. The bartender on duty was rude and he didnt acknowledge my presence for 10-15 minutes despite not being at all busy.
The hotel was well designed and aestically pleasing. The beds were very comfortable and they had great blackout curtains. However, the rooms was missing basic amenities like a refrigerator, iron & ironing board, and coffee maker. Coffee in the lobby was only complementary until 9:30 then you have to pay for it. Only 3 hangers, 2 pillows on the bed and one robe for two people but they did provide more pillows, and extra robe, and an extra blanket upon request.
Loved it! Moxy was fun and family friendly. The lounge area was perfect for morning coffee and arcade style gaming for my kids. The game room was an awesome bonus with the half court basketball and other games. My kids loved it and I loved that they offered something unique to pass the time. The rooms were smaller than we have seen at other NYC hotels but they made the most of the small space in a unique way. The four of us never felt crammed or crowded in a 2 queen room. Short walking distance to 911 memorial and Freedom Tower was a bonus for us this trip!
The hotel overall was fine. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We had a few issues with our first room such as outlets that didnt work, chrome cast was taken out by previous guest, flooding bathroom once we showered and blinds that wouldnt work. My husband and I explained this to a Destiny that works there and she was super apologetic and nice. She upgraded us to a better, bigger room on a higher floor and gave us a $50 credit to use for food. This is a great place to stay if you are looking to just sleep, shower and keep your belongings. Keep in mind, they do not clean the rooms or change the sheets everyday in order to try and reduce their carbon footprint. All in all, it was a good experience with great staff!
The staff was friendly; however, I wouldnt stay at this hotel again. My GF and I couldnt get a good nights sleep as the bed was rock hard and hurt our back, the blanket was really an over-sized cotton bath towel and we needed to request more pillows and additional blankets (which were even thinner towel-like blankets than the one originally on the bed). The rooms are tiny, which isnt an issue if you are never in it, but definitely tight. The TV stopped working the second day and we needed to call the desk multiple times and have a tech come to the room to fix it. The thing that was the most frustrating was no coffee machines in the room and the hotel only offering it in the lobby within the window of 630-930am, which is a very small window and not accommodating to those not on a workday schedule. The hotel can claim that Coffee is free, but offer it in a window that is not attainable in convenient ways. We missed the window by 5-10 minutes our second day and were told a cup of coffee from the machines moved the 10 feet behind the bar (same ones that were once out for free) would cost $5 or so. This was very frustrating. The hotel is split from lobby to rooms with a street level entry and a set of elevators that goes to the bar area on the 3rd floor, which then you have to walk across to get to another bank of elevators to get to the rooms. Its not terribly inconvenient, but it gets annoying as the bar always seemed to be raucous, jam-packed, and reeked of stale booze after about 7pm til late. Additionally, the elevator to the rooms requires a key to be touched to a sensor to get the floor to select; however, it is extremely touchy and a few times we were stuck riding the elevator up and down before we were able to have our floor selection register. The rooms were serviced fairly late in the day too, so we would leave in the morning for a bit between 9-1030 am, come back mid to late afternoon to get ready for the night and the room still would not be serviced. The hotel did have nice decor, though. Ultimately, the culmination of little annoyances made for an bad experience. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it.
Great place and location to stay for a short stay in NYC, however we had a few issues with service. The rooms are modern and lobby was lively which we really enjoyed. However, the night we stayed the hotel was at capacity and the front desk was noticeably understaffed. It took too long to check in / check out and each time we had to store our luggage it took over 10 minutes for the staff to find it. This wasn’t from a lack of trying; the front desk just needed more space / employees (and I believe one of their computers was down). Additionally, the front desk could not be contacted via phone (we received a busy signal the 5-7 times we tried to call). Also the speaker in our room turned on at 3am and played a high pitch noise that we thought was an alarm. The hotel is very close to businesses in fidi, one world trade, the hudson, many subway options and is extremely modern. We enjoyed that aspect of our stay and but would come again if the service was better.
The check-in was fast, but without any personally touch and address. For me too disappointing.I did not have the impression that the hotel’s entrance was the entrance to a hotel, because it was so small and felt like a hallway only. However, the impressive lobby and cool bar is on the third floor which you can easily reach with an elevator. The hotel room was small, yet comfortable with a floor-to-ceiling window. The best about the hotel is that it is in the vicinity of the Brooklyn Bridge, which you may not miss at sun rise, and the One World Center.
Checked into the hotel only a few days after opening. Too soon, as some of the operations glitches were still being worked out. On the positive side, the lobby/bar area was outstanding and the staff top notch. Starting with check-in, I was asked to provide a credit card on file three (3) times. That shouldve been one and done upon check-in. I had to check my credit card statement as I feared I would be charged multiple times for my stay. The rooms are on the smaller side, but at least I had an exterior view and natural light. The bedding was very comfortable, and the bathroom well lit and designed. If you like a closet and drawers for your belongings, you wont get those here, so you hang everything you brought up on hooks along the wall and it makes your room look like a hanging clothesline. Two of the three main elevators to the guest rooms were not working on Saturday upon arrival, leaving only one working elevator. At least 2x we had to climb down 7 flights of stairs to the street in order to exit the hotel. The door lock used from inside to secure the entry locked me out of my own room on Sunday, which required a 30-minute wait and numerous calls to the front desk (as well as a housekeeping team member who tried to get someone on the phone to answer) before Engineering came to the room and ended up kicking the door in. Im sure once they get these bumps worked out, it will be a great hotel to stay at for a few days - the neighborhood is transitioning and has many great restaurants and shopping, great for walking/sightseeing - close to South Street Seaport, the World Trade Center Tower, the Occulus and the Brooklyn Bridge, all within walking distance.
The design of the hotel is so unique. From the moment you reach the door you just know you are going to enjoy the stay. Very artsy and modern with warm colors in the lounge. Who would not like skeeball, a basketball court, foozball, comfy couches and endless reading materials to pass the time in the lounge area? The room design was so beautiful. Large windows that overlook the city! Comfy , unique, hotel!
Really enjoyed our 7 night stay at the Moxy Downtown. Hotel has a modern, vibrant & funky vibe to it. Nice, informal and relaxed approach. The hotel is in the heart of the financial district so access to attractions such as One World, Battery Park, 9/11 Museum, Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street and the Hudson River is superb. You are also very close to a number of Subway stations. We found it a perfect location for exploring NYC, as we were away from the hustle and bustle and tourist trap areas around Times Square and being close to the Hudson gave a sense of space.Rooms here are modern and presented well. They are compact and quite small, yet perfectly adequate for a 7 night stay. Id take some hangers for clothes, as whilst theres plenty of hooks, the room only comes with 3 hangers. Theres no Tea/coffee facilities in room but there was free tea and coffee available on the bar each morning until 9:30am which was very welcome.Staff were always very friendly and more than happy to help. I would definitely consider staying here again whilst in NYC.
My husband and I stayed here for a quick birthday trip into Manhattan. The location, while difficult for street parking, was convenient to the subway, and the hotel itself was beautiful, clean, and welcoming. The staff to a one were friendly and eager to help (LOVED the complimentary cocktails!) and the expansive public space on the third floor is a hidden NYC gem. Our bed was comfortable and immaculately clean, and the ability to log into Netflix on the TV was super cool. (Please add YouTube TV, too!) Overall, a terrific stay. 10/10; would stay again. Thanks, Moxy!
The bar/fun space on the mezzanine level is fantastic. Front desk staff are awesome. That’s where it ends. The rooms are far too small, lack closets (I’m really supposed to hang my stuff on the wall?), And the hallways are not climate controlled. This last item might seem minor, except for when you step out of your room and it’s 15° warmer than it was in your room, it’s gross.
This was a comfortable room, at a reasonable price, in a highly accessible location, with a great atmosphere.I have stayed in dozens of hotels over the past year in NYC. After one night, this has become my preferred location. I will certainly return. I can see myself opting to commute to the hotel even if I am working in a different part of the city. This is not to say it was perfect: check in issue, broken remote control. But the level of comfort was unparalleled. I hope others enjoy their stays as much as I did.
Overall its a nice hotel but there is NO lobby.. you walk directly into a hallway and there are people checking you in behind a small counter. We arrived at 7pm and they still didnt have our rooms ready. They said it was very busy the day before... but check-out is 11am so why does it take 8hrs to clean the room? They gave us drink vouchers for the inconvenience which IMO didnt make up for it.On the plus side, there is an indoor basketball court next to the hotel bar! Pretty unique feature.. They also have ping pong, skee ball, table hockey and other games. This hotel is definitely for a younger crowd and not the place to stay if you like concierge services.
We had a great stay at the Moxy. It wasnt too hard to find although Uber/Lyft did have a problem locating us at times. The room is a little small but the bathroom is a great size (Maybe smaller shower and bigger walking space). The lobby is very vibrant in the evening and we loved the drink tokens that were offered. The elevator is a little slow as well but I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!
Stayed one night at the Moxy. Great place, fun atmosphere. The branding and writeups on the hotel make it sound like a gentlemans club that happened to have hotel rooms, but the actual place is much more relaxed. Great energy.Definitely geared towards a younger crowd. Reasonably priced. Rooms are small but modern, with great use of space. Shower was warm, but took a long time to warm up and had minimal pressure. Nothing to kill the hotel, but keep it in mind.Overall, a very pleasant experience.
The first room I was in, the lock didnt work so I asked to be moved. The second room was better and had a much less cramped layout. Its weird that I have to go up one set of elevators to then walk through the bar/lounge area and then up another set of elevators. Also reception is basically just a desk. Its a very nice hotel but theyre trying RRALLY hard to be Chic/modern. Kind of feels like parents trying to be cool (theyre owned by Marriott)
The hotel is super trendy and its offerings are game changing. Ive stayed in a lot of hotels in my life but none come close to giving that young, fun and vibrant feel. Having arcade games, a half basketball court, table tennis, fuse-ball table ensures that kids and adults are entertained! If you are here on business though, it might be a little distracting. The rooms are compact and well designed which is perfect for a holiday, but probably not for a work trip as there isnt really a work table in the room.
Loved staying here based on the vibe! The location is not terrible, with less than a 15 minute drive to most places. Decent food options nearby, but more fun is in soho. Overall, the property and room was clean. The queen room is small, but functional for two, so I would go for a king or suite if you plan to stay in. The staff was so nice and accommodating! Would stay again.
The hotel is stylish and comfortable. Great vibe. We enjoyed the games - basketball, ping pong, Pacman etc... The staff was all friendly and helpful. Clean, quiet and comfortable.Be ready to wait for the elevator, they are slow and you have to change on the 3rd floor to get to the rooms.
The rooms are small but mighty and the amenities are great. The location cannot be beat--with the Fulton Street subway stations just a block away you can get anywhere in the city easily. The rooms are very well designed with a lot of little extras to make the space work. Great lobby lounge area with bar, games, etc.
Overall, this hotel accomplishes what it sets out to do: be a stylish property for a young Marriott clientele. Luxurious it is not, but if you are looking for a convenient downtown location in Manhattan, this does the job. Overall, if I hadnt used Marriott points for my stay, I would have been less than thrilled, but for a free points weekend in the city, it worked just fine if you arent expecting luxury. **Customer service was great, by the way. The disappointment is more generally geared towards the property itself (bathroom wasnt clean, toiletries left a lot to be desired, room smelled like smoke).Very convenient to the subway and an easy walk to the Brooklyn Bridge and Chinatown.
We are locals, but love staying at the Moxy for a quick night or weekend getaway without the kiddo. Great location (near Fulton Center, which has essentially all major trainlines). Excellent hotel space, great common area / bar. Food is quite good, and a lot of great beers on tap. The rooms, in particular, are our favorite part -- streamlined design (no closets / large desks / other wasted space), but tons of outlets and USB ports, foldable tables for your bags, etc. Excellent bed and bathrooms, overall making for a very comfortable stay. Highly recommend this spot, whether youre a local looking for a quick staycation, or from out of town!
The hotel was very modern and up to date. The bar area was super fun and lively. The games were a fun added bonus. The room was great with comfortable beds and pillows. The bathroom was very clean and nice. Everyone had great, positive attitudes and were very helpful.
This place is totally mismanaged. Seems like a bunch of teens that dont care about the guests. Booked a corner king room for two nights with my wife while visiting NYC. Titanium member. Used my suite nights and confirmed an upgrade to a city view suite. When we got there the line was out the door for check in in the tiny lobby. They only had 1 person checking people in and like 2 people just standing around. It was extremely slow and pretty chaotic. (No elite member check-in either). When it was finally our turn, the rep checking us in looked concerned but was not saying anything. Never acknowledged our elite status. After a few minutes he gave us a key to 2603. However, 2603 is an interior queen room with no view. So we took the two elevators back down to see if there was some mistake. There wasnt, they just gave away our rooms and this was all they had. No explanation. No apology. Rooms are cramped, even for nyc standards. Staff is terrible. Never again.
This hotel has a cool vibe but the rooms lack amenities. There are no closets. There are no dresser drawers. Only way to store clothes is on a hanging rack along the wall! And they only give you three hangers. While checking in, ask for more or better pillows because the ones in the room are horrendous. Hotel lobby is cool. Good bar and games. Overall just average at best. Save your money
Rooms are clean and the staff was nice. The elevators to get to the rooms were very slow and in the middle of rush hour a fair bit of time to arrive. The location in fidi is nice in order to see the sights like Wall St, 9/11 memorial, and the bull. Also has a subway stop close to get to other parts of the city.Overall, I would stay here again on my next NYC trip.
We had a reservation at this hotel with check-in date of Oct 18. We booked the reservation about a month ago. When we arrived at a hotel, we noticed that the hotel lobby door is closed and there seems to be no one in the hotel. It was CLOSED. This hotel did not communicate that they will be closed, we need to find a different accommodation, etc. SO FRUSTRATING! We called Marriott customer service and talked to 6 different agents for more than 2 HOURS but all they could offer was 3-star hotel or 4-star hotel which is very old. We ended up moving to a 4-star Marriott hotel nearby but this entire experience was HORRIBLE. They did not make any efforts to move us to a similar level of hotel to this Moxy NYC Downtown. We have been Marriott members for YEARS and this makes me rethink if I stay as a valued customer or not. Probably not. What a waste of time.. no one told us that this hotel is closed.. why do they accept reservations if they are closed? They even sent an email to us asking for check-in the day before. What a joke.
Good sized rooms yet lacks storage for clothes. Nice free coffee before 930am. Good gym for cardio but lacks weights other than dumbbells. Comfortable beds. Excellent location in FiDi next to the subway and lots of food options. Dry cleaners with wash and fold right next door for $12 for 8lbs of laundry.
This is a great hotel to stay at on Wall Street. The views of the Brooklyn Bridge from the elevator landing are awesome. The rooms are minimal in design but very comfortable. The details of design are very different from other Marriott Properties. But they are all that you need for staying in a hotel room. The staff is outstanding and so welcoming. Very close to Fulton Street Center metro stop for ease of getting around the city.
Moxy has comfortable beds and great bathrooms in a hotel that is trying to portray a hip image. The rooms have no closets, wastepaper baskets in the room, no room coffeemakers and no radios. There is free coffee in the lobby in the morning. Typical of NYC, the rooms are a little small but the bathroom is large. The restaurant, Recreation, has a nice bar, work stations and good food. You feel very comfortable here if you are traveling alone. The location is convenient for the Financial District and the World Trade Center. One block from the hotel is a major subway station (Fulton) that connects with many subway lines. Internet is good and TV offerings are plentiful. Value is average. Guests closing their room doors creates loud noises.
An adorable and trendy hotel, but lacked a closet. While I wasnt there more than a night, the inability to hang and hide my clutter was my one complaint. It could have also been a function of my room, so while Id like to give them a 5 star rating this visit Im unable to.I would love to give their Cafe a little plug too because it was well decorated, had a good selection, and was tasty.
Small rooms but so smartly designed that it doesn’t matter. I have slept maybe in 100 hotels around the world and many Marriott but this bed was just maybe my nr 1. The hotel doesn’t really have a restaurant but offers great breakfast options at very reasonable prices. The location is just almost in the metro. Not far some shops and a joe’s pizza. In the weekend Fidi streets are quiet but that’s normal. Staff is really customer centric and seem to care even more.
We stayed at the moxy over new years for a couple of days. The Hotel is located in walking distance to oculux, brooklyn bridge, Wall Street and has access to several subway Stations.Staying with marriott frequently, this was Our first stay at a moxy Hotel. It comes down to preference and while the Basketball court and other amenities let the property and the brand shine, there are some that will not have us stay at a moxy again: bed sheets seemed like a towell, size of room, bad cocktails. The Hotel definitely has some positives and we were very much looking forward to Our stay but at the end seemed like a low cost Kind of Hotel.
If you want to stay at a new, clean, fun, and conveniently located hotel at an affordable rate, this is the place! The bar/restaurant area also includes a fun gaming space, which has a great vibe with a live DJ on the weekends. The rooms were spartan, yet fully modern and efficient. The portable stools and flip-up table came in very handy. And the staff reminded me of the people you would find at an Apple Store - young, energetic, friendly and helpful. And the location could not have been more convenient - within a short walk of at least 12 subway lines plus the PATH trains. All in all, this was a fun hotel with attractively priced accommodations, and Ill definitely stay there again!
Overall, this was a great experience. We did have an issue with the AC, but that was resolved quickly. The super millennial kicked back vibe from the staff is too much for me (and I’m a millennial). But, for the price and new hotel, I’ll take it. I travel a ton, so it’s nice to have some appreciation for the loyalty with Marriott Hotels.
Location is fantastic - close to subways, parks, shopping, restaurants and local attractions (9/11 museum, Statue of Liberty, South St Seaport, Brooklyn Bridge all within walking distance). While rooms were small and compact (no closets, just hooks on the wall) they were clean and tidy. Service from staff is average - dont expect anyone to answer the phone at the front desk or have knowledgable concierge for tours/attractions. Lively lobby during happy hour that included a DJ, with 2 free drinks for guests when they check in as well as complimentary coffee in the mornings until 930 which was much appreciated (the oat milk too was a plus!).
The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom new and easy to navigate (good water pressure) The service was excellent and the location perfect walking distance for most of the downtown attractions. The room was a little crowded but worth it for the price. I would stay again. Thanks, Moxy
It was my first time staying in a Moxy hotel and it was great!! I love the style of the hotel, the rooms were adequate enough even for NYC. It’s very modern and VERY different from a regular full service hotel so keep that in mind when booking. The rooms do not have closets, they have hangers fixed to the walls, they also do not have mini fridges which was disappointing. The arcade bar (lobby) was a great time!! Great drinks, music by a great dj and some fun old time arcade games! I’ll definitely be back next time I stay in NYC. The only annoying factor is you have to take 2 different elevators to get to the hotel rooms. One from the main entrance to the bar then from the bar to the rooms so you have to walk through the bar every time.
I really enjoyed the use of space in our city view king room. It was pretty neat to see how much floor space you could save by hanging everything on the wall! Brilliant! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I definitely enjoyed my stay and would recommend again. Thank you!
The hotel has a nightclub vibe but the halls are hot & dark. It doesn’t give you a safe feeling. It was clean & small but functional & a good size bathroom. The hotel lobby smelled! The air condition unit is so loud it will keep you up all night. I asked for ear plugs around midnight & got them about 45 min later. The cable was out so you couldn’t access news channels or try to tune out the AC unit.
Probably fine if you are someone who doesnt care about comfort, getting the package you paid for, and shrugs off small things like the TV and phone not working. If you like not getting any customer service for hours at a time and having to figure where to put your luggage in a room that has a totally useless and uncomfortable swinging chair, again you will love this place. They did refund my money quickly as I didnt even stay the evening due to the room being broken down
Very cute boutique hotel with modern decor and design, and the swing in the room adds a nice touch! The bell staff are the best the hotel has to offer! Unfortunately, first and last time at this hotel. The front desk staff (Melissa and Destiny) are inattentive, rude, could care less who you are and why you are there. They should be the first impression of your experience with the hotel. To get service in my room I had to call from my cell phone because I voiced my opinion on their lack of attentiveness upon my check-in, that they would not pick up my calls. They had me wait, with no mention that they would be with me shortly or at all. There was no thank you for staying with us, and all of the other normal things you experience when staying at a hotel. Too many hotels in NYC (speaking as a New Yorker!) that I can choose from.
The air in our room was not working so we had no air flow for the duration of our stay. The resulting temperature of our room averaged to be 80 degrees for the entire time. We tried to get help overnight when it was too warm to sleep comfortably and after almost 2 hours of the front desk staff searching for a fan to help cool the room, there was no fan and we were offered ice water as a consolation. We SHOULD have been moved to a functional room IMMEDIATELY but instead we waited for almost 2 hours for a fan that didnt exist and a staff member who then got snippy with us when we expressed our frustration. On top of the air flow/temperature issue, the phones in the room were also nonfunctional. When we tried to call down to the front desk to report our issue- the calls never went through. We had to use our personal cell phones and go through the menu before we could get connected to a person to talk to about the heat. Although the customer service we experienced overnight was atrocious, the women working the front desk the next morning were very professional and helpful with trying to get us taken care of. We were offered a full refund for our stay and although its been over a week and there has not been a refund, I remain hopeful but not holding my breath. The overall concept of this hotel is great and if it wasnt for the poor overnight experience I would consider staying here again. The hotel restaurant and bar were OK, service was a little slow but nothing to fret over- great for a drink and a couple apps.
Overall good hotel for a short stay in NYC. Very modern, good size compared to other hotels in the city. The lobby is very loud with a young vibe. I had some issues with internet connectivity and housekeeping, hope the hotel will pay attention and fix them. I do not recommend eating in the lobby, totally overpriced.Bottom line: good hotel, very modern, excellent location.
Great hotel in lower Manhattan. Theres a basketball court in the hotel! The bar has good cocktails but the food is terrible. DJ spinning is nice as you dont hear the boring music most hotels play. Only issue is check in as there is no real lobby and its crowded in the entrance. Rooms are small but cozy. Minimalistic hotel.
Front desk was excellent! We get to the hotel early after a early flight and a quick nyc tour. They could have just told us the room is not ready but they went out of their way to get us upgraded to the top floor and let us check in early! That makes a happy 13th year old in New York to celebrate her birthday. Thank you! She will be a Moxy fan for life! I wish I note down the name of the man and woman that help us. They have great attitudes and much appreciated.
First time stay at a Moxy and totally loved it. I was on the 26th floor and the view was just breathtaking. The minimalist industrial design is just great. The crew were just interested enough not to be intrusive. The recreation bar was a relaxing place to work and grab a drink. If you want a no frills hotel with a cool and minimalistic luxury, this is your go to hotel.
The location of the Moxy downtown was unbeatable. We were less than 5 minute walk to a large subway station (Fulton), walking distance to World Trade Centre, Brooklyn Bridge, Battery Park, as well as many other attractions. Finding a place for food, drinks, ice cream, etc was extremely easy. As far as the actual hotel, we had basically no complaints! The only thing that was (minimally) inconvenient was that there was no ice machine so you would have to call down to front desk and someone would bring it up. Of course with it being summer in NYC, the front desk staff was busy and did not always pick up on the first call, but once they did the ice was brought up within minutes! The room was extremely clean and had all the amenities we needed. It was small, but that’s to be expected in Manhattan! TV was a Smart TV equipped with Google Home which provided countless entertainment options. The lighting had a “relax” setting which provided a romantic/relaxing option for winding down for the night. The blinds were also automatic for which there was a button conveniently located next to the bed. We are Lifetime Gold Elite members and were treated as such upon arrival! The room keys are in an “Elite” envelope which was a nice touch, and we were thanked for being elite members by the front desk staff. Our room was a corner room on one of the highest floors (27th out of 29) which we really appreciated! The views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges were amazing. We were also given two free drink tokens for the bar located on the third floor. The drinks were delicious and we enjoyed the several arcade style games! We would definitely stay at the Moxy Downtown again and can’t wait to return!
From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted and treated like one of the gang, the staff was very approachable which made the stay in a large unfamiliar city much more comfortable. Megan D. provided top notch service and went above and beyond our expectations! The Moxy definitely has a fun and playful vibe, I loved this combined with the modern and distinct decor all the while being impeccably clean.
Thank you again MOXY NYC Downtown for making our birthday weekend memorable. My daughter and I enjoyed everything. The hotel was located in a fantastic spot - perfect for restaurants, sightseeing, shopping and especially public transportation. The lobby was perfect to sit, drink and unwind. Our room was comfortable, clean, stylish and touch buttons were added bonus. Will certainly stay again.
The hotel, the employees, the experience was top notch! Not only did you have food and drink options, but you had games, a dedicated hang out/activity room, and a bar. The rooms are simple but have everything you need, and make the most of a tiny NYC space. Not to mention it was extremely clean, which is always a plus. I loved it!
Overall the Moxy is a cute quaint downtown hotel. It’s lacking in cohesiveness. What I mean is that there’s a bar and restaurant within the hotel that is not well advertised during checkout or while booking. I think providing a free drink or discount on a meal may make the space feel more welcoming
Good location and really nice views. The room was tiny, just enough to fit the bed. The set up of the hotel is very weird- to get to the room you need to take a lift to the 3rs floor and then walk through the bar (evenings are very busy there) and then another lift to the room. Not something you want to do when you come back tired from all the sightseeing.
Really friendly staff and comfy mattress. The room is pretty clean and new. Kind of small but hey, its NY. My only complaint would be the blankets. Its very thin. In fact, I think it was only 2 layers of sheets and one layer that was a terry cloth like material. And this was for a December stay. Not very warm. I had to turn the heat on the room up to 78 cuz I was so cold. But then the air is really dry. Still, overall I enjoyed our stay here.
Swanky hotel but they dont have it together. So many mistakes, where to start. Tried and tried to give this place a fair shot, but they just consistently disappointed me.1) No one at the front desk was qualified to check us in for the first 20 minutes.2) No cleaning for the room the first 2 days. Had to ask repeatedly before they cleaned it on the third day.3) Booked another 2 nights because it was easier than moving hotels. Had to move rooms because they were going to fix the blinds on the other floor. Ok but:4) New room had no hot water. They told me to just run the shower. Ran it for 15 minutes. Still no hot water.Terrible. Stay somewhere else.
The Moxy is a fun and lively hotel with easy access to the Fulton Street subway and City Hall Park. The area has many food options. Check in is on the ground level, but the lobby is on the third floor. That is a little odd and the check in space is small. The front desk is well represented by a vivacious, friendly and helpful staff. Id describe this hotel as playful since it has arcade games and a basketball court. The rooms are modern and well designed. Beautiful views of the Brooklyn Bridge at night.
This new property is very stylish, the public spaces and lively and fun,and the staff was great. However, once in our room it was almost unusable. Yes, the room was small -- this is NYC after all. However, in that small space there was virtually no storage space for clothing whatsoever. No drawers, no hangers, and only several small hooks on a wall that you could use to hang shirts or pants. Forget about trying to hang a suit for a business meeting. This is definitely NOT a business hotel, and although I may book it again for a personal trip if the price is right, I would never book it for a business trip due to these lack of clothing storage issues.
For a hotel with such promise it gives little. I’ll start with the pros.. it’s fun and quirky and hygienic. The sound system in the room is good and the beds comfy. If you’re a gold member or higher don’t expect much. They give me no member benefits e.g room upgrade, free bottled water etc. All I received was two drink tokens and honestly the drink you receive is terrible. Water is undrinkable in the room.. comes out greyTiles hanging off roof in roomAutomatic door is useless takes an age to closeStaff are kind but haven’t got a clue on how to treat a gold memberWouldn’t recommend.
The experience was fantastic! Location is prime. Room is super clean. The room had lots of detail and character. Very unique and creative room set up and staff was extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and personable! This was by far the best experience I have had in New York! I will for sure be booking with moxy for my next trip!
Very stylish and reasonable size room for NYC but still compact so you had to be organised with your belongings so the room wasnt a complete mess! Very noisy air con. No refreshments or facilities to make tea/coffee - no fridge. You could help yourself to hot drinks before 9.30am from the hotel bar.
I dont usually stay downtown when Im in Manhattan, but I loved this hotel and would stay there again. It had a great bar/lounge area, the rooms were modern, the views were great and the staff was nice and helpful. It was close to the Fulton Street subway with access to all the subway lines, so it was easy to go anywhere from the hotel.
Facilities/Amenities/Locations were great. Staff were mostly doing their own thing not too personable if you don’t mind that there was this happy bartender who served me a my girlfriend our first drinks at this location she was great. I stayed there for thanksgiving because of my gfs Birthday and when I asked a gentleman that worked there if they did anything special (desert drink etc,)I’m celebrating my girlfriends 27th birthday he replied “nah we don’t really do anything like that” which was disappointing. But they have games there so you don’t really have to interact with the staff to much s/o to that bartender tho she made us feel welcomed and put a twist on the moxy cocktail for us.
Beautifully styled modern and young hotel where everything seems to be possible and the employees do their best to make it possible for you. Rooms are smallish, bed is too, but comfortable, bathroom functions well and a state of the art flatscreen hangs in front of your bed. A public highlight is the lobby on the third floor with a huge bar, a games corner and a gym just behind a door
The rooms do not have a fridge and a queen room for two guests only had 1 pillow and 1 bath towel per guest. Getting extras was difficult despite requests. The hotel is fun, though has small rooms as expected for NYC, no surprise there. Rooms are clean, hotel very hip. The “lobby” on the ground floor is tiny and crowded. The location is great, close to many sites and subways lines. The bar/upper lobby is very hip and always had people there.
Fabulous location. It is financial district downtown. Fulton Center station is around the block so is WTC. I traveled with my kids and wanted place which provided fast access to subway, walking distance to major attractions and of course safe even at late hours. The hotel is minimalist but ultra modern. Rooms are small if you are travelling with family especially with kids. There is no room service or coffee machine in room which was downside for me but for business traveler these things may not matter. Overall great place. Will stay again if visiting NYC.
I had a great first stay at the Moxy Downtown. The hotel is very new, very clean, and the main lobby area (RECREATION) is a great meeting spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and night cap drinks. Food was solid (typical NYC prices, so no surprises), creative drink menu, and a great atmosphere. Was there on business travel. No issues at all. Will be returning.
Let me preface by saying I have stayed in hotels all over the world for the last twenty years of travel including several in Manhattan. This is the stupidest hotel I have ever seen in my life. You should only stay here if you are an 75 lb supermodel from Estonia. This hotel was designed for the sake of design and definitely not for comfort. The only chairs in the room are a hanging metal bird cage seat and two folding stools. There is no closet. There are metal hooks on the wall. There were three clothes hangers with leather straps instead of hooks, one of which was broken. We were ignored by the front desk clerk as we came in. We tried using our mobile key to enter the room and it failed. We called the front desk and were immediately disconnected. We had to go back to the lobby via 2 elevators. The largest flat surface in the room was the sink in the bathroom. That is where I worked while sitting on the closed toilet. I would highly suggest avoiding this place if you are older than 22 or have common sense.More notes: 25 minutes for ice after request. 10 minute wait for hot water to shower. How trendy!
1. The first time in my life not receiving any housekeeping while staying at a hotel! Cant understand why NO ONE cleaned my room during my stay. 2. Left my iphone charger in the room but cannot connect with them over the phone to report this cuz their housekeeping phone doesnt work. 3. Check-in was slow. 4. Nice room design and bar. Service at the bar was good though.
Its nice to experience a hotel location that is keeping up with modern technologies to ensure that the experience evolves for each guest. This seemingly tucked away hotel opens up to a fantastic interior. Dont let the subtle lobby deter you. Once on the third floor, the hotel opens to a lively bar area containing Skee Ball, Ping-Pong Tables and a live DJ. Dont worry, this isnt your college dorm room party. It feels far more refined than that. The rooms are clean and keep with the decor of the bar area (fun, functional, given thought). If youre looking to break up your hotel stay from the traditional beige and pale green carpets, you should strongly consider Moxy. ps. grab a slice from Joes around the corner for the full experience.
The staff here is amazing from the minute you arrive to the minute you depart. The hotel is obviously geared to a younger-than-our-65-plus age group, but we loved it! The rooms are very efficiently designed and perfect for our needs EXCEPT for the bed. We all woke up with back pain. Thank you for the welcome Moxy cocktails (delicious) and the $10pp credit towards breakfast (loved the avocado toast). The location is perfect access to the World Trade Center/Financial District/Battery Park/Fulton St Seaport and subways to the rest of NYC. Was very impressed and happy.
There was an issue with my booking. The manager tried to make it seem like I didn’t know what I was talking about and told me 2 am was still Thursday and not Friday. The overall manager for Marriott was super nice when I called her and told her about this issue I had with this particular hotel and staff. I stayed at the aloft hotel down the street and I highly recommend that room. I booked a city view at the moxy and only got the view of the back of someone’s patio. But at the aloft hotel my view was GORGEOUS. The staff at this Marriott needs to be properly trained and better educated about times and dates and learn how to properly keep up with their bookings and better communicate with everyone in charge of booking because they lack communication and I had to check out of a room I checked into the same day because the manager said since I checked into the hotel at 2am on Friday I had to leave that same day because technically “2am is still Thursday the 27th”
We were excited to check out Moxy for the first time when we had a one-night stop over in NYC. We are loyal Marriott customers and have been either Silver, Gold, or Platinum for at least the last 8 years. Moxy was one of the brands that we had not been to yet and we thought it would be fun to try out.We had a couple seemingly minor issues that the hotel could not seem to resolve which made for a terrible experience at this hotel. The staff seemed helpless and not empowered or trained to resolve these issues, which I put the fault on Marriott and not the staff at this hotel. Our room was not ready at check in because we requested it be feather free. This has been in my profile for years and I followed up with a message to the hotel the day before. After 2 hours we finally took a room and the manager said she would bring bring the pillows up. This wasted a couple hours of our one night in NYC for what took about 10 seconds to resolve. We were compensated with more drink tokens and a breakfast coupon. The second issue was we now had a fist full of these drink tokens and when we got back to the hotel at 11:30pm we were told the bar was closed due to slow business. We then saw two other couples get turned away. We would have been happy with one pour of prosecco and we would head up to our room. There was no manager on duty in the evening and all the person at the front desk could do was give us more drink tokens (but the bar is closed and we leave the next day). Apparently the bar does not have set times and will close if they feel it is slow, also the bar is apparently separate from the hotel and they dont have control over what they do? This is what we were told and it sounded odd that they would not have control over what is essentially the main attraction of this hotel. Oh, and the website does say the bar is always open and the crew is always on, not quite. The most disappointing aspect of this whole experience was that these two issues could have each been resolved in a matter of minutes and we wouldnt have thought twice about it. It seemed that the staff was not equipped to handle these things which some training and empowerment could have solved. The only reason I gave this a fair rating is because the manager did follow up a few days later and offered us points, but not enough to make up for this. This makes us think twice about Marriott in the future and cashing out our years of points and status and checking out other hotel brands.
New modern hotel in the heart of downtown. The rooms and the bar have a great modern design. However, the very standard rooms are really small and only have one Queen bed to share. I stayed with a friend so this wasn’t gonna work out over 4 days but as soon as the weekend was over and they had room, they upgraded us to a double bed room - loved the service!
If I could give this place 0 stars I would honestly. What’s the point of trying to make the place luxurious if you don’t have the basic necessities? Understaffed, no access to any other floors but your own and the “lobby” which is not even the bottom floor so you have to stop there before going anywhere else?? No trash rooms on the floors or designated place to throw away trash anywhere in the building itself, rooms are super small for the price you pay, focused more on aesthetic than having necessities (like a damn bag in the trash cans, hello?), fridge, microwave, or anything of that sort. Staff looks at me like I’m dumb anytime I ask for these basic things and they also took 2 hours to get our hotel ready AFTER the designated check in time. For a place rated so decently you would think the service would be at least above bare minimum but it doesn’t even meet it. Do not waste your money here.
From entrance to exit this little hideaway is a great find for anyone staying in downtown NYC!Delightful and efficient staff plus Well maintained fun room and a clean and fun reading area that includes delicious food to purchase. They don’t play the music super loud so you can actually relax after a day of traveling to this destination.Have a great time!
When we arrived the staff were super friendly and helpful. They allowed us to stow our bags until we could check-in as we arrived many hours before this which was useful. The girl managed to check us in a little before the allocated time which was very nice of her as we were quiet Jet-lagged.They provided us with complimentary coffee each morning until 9.30am and gave us a complimentary cocktail the following night which was a nice touch. The bar/lounge area is beautifully designed and the staff in this area are very nice too. There is a games area which includes pacman, balliards, a basketball court (1/4), to name but a few.We booked the King room with city view. Tbh not worth the extra money as there is not a great view from this part of town. And going by other pictures its minimally larger in size compared with the queen. The bed could do with extra bedding for winter months. The shower could be more powerful. There is no place for ur bags...no wardrobe or closet atall. The room itself was very clean and had some modern gadgets. We stayed here for 4 nights. I can honestly say, overall, its a nice, vibrant hotel. Theres a very Mod vibe to the place and I would say it would suit a younger clientel.
Great place to go if you still want the experience of NYC with a little distance from all of the hustle of the tourist spots. Excellent service from the entire staff, especially the assistant general manager. Fun lobby area (third floor) for basketball, board games, skeeball, and a big bar/lounge. Walking distance from the financial area, South Street Seaport and Stone Street. The rooms are a little small, but the staff, lounge and location make up for it.
This is my preferred hotel to stay when Im in NYC for work. Its easy to get to/from Penn Station with lots of local restaurants close by for dinner. The hotel bar is super buzzy and filled with fun board games, a shuffle board table and ski ball machines. Upon check-in you are typically given a token for a free drink at the bar!The rooms are swanky and posh. They arent huge, but they are clean and chic. If youre looking for a spacious room, this isnt for you. But if youre looking for a hip place to lay your head down, this is definitely it! Plus some of the rooms have gorgeous views of the city!Because Im typically here for work, Im happy to report that the wifi is fast and reliable. The bathrooms are nice and the mirrors have great lighting for applying makeup. The staff is friendly and eager to assist. They are always happy to help and do it with a smile on their face. I always ask them the best spots to eat and they are helpful in navigating the city/area.
Really nicely designed hotel. Super convenient location to all of NYC with quick subway access to Brooklyn and uptown. Great modern feel without going too far. Elevator banks are separate from the street to lobby and lobby to rooms which can be tedious for a longer stay.
This is a very cute, stylish hotel. I get the foo-foo idea of having a small but stylish room and a lively lounge area. These are nice, but I need a decent writing surface to work on. The stool was not adequate. But the big problem with this stay was no hot water in the morning. Apparently the water heater(s) broke and there was no hot water in the hotel for showering, shaving, etc. I had to leave for a long day of important meetings without shaving or taking a shower.
Room was good but small, bar was outrageous. waited until 5pm for rooms to be ready after booking in advance. free drink chips were offered but they only allowed us to use them for Miller Lite. ordered food took TWO HOURS and the first time we checked on it the original food order wasnt even placed? will absolutely never book again.
Stayed there for 3 nights. Great hotel atmosphere. The lounge area is fun and the rooms are nice. However, the hotel overcharged my card and took out an additional 300 dollars. This is because they didnt know how to split the payment in two cards. I was aggravated because I spent my weekend with almost no money in my account because of that charge. Still have not gotten my money back although they told me theyve released the charge. Id say this is because theyre new and the hotel is run by teenagers.
The location is good. Hotel decor is stylish. However, the service was very unprofessional. The staff was so busy that wouldn’t even answer the phone call at night. Put you on hold forever. When my friend ask for body lotion, they promised to deliver to the room in 15 mins. However, nothing was ever received on that night, when my friend waited for almost an hour and called the front desk twice to confirm that someone is getting the body lotion to the room. That’s fine if the staff was too busy, but at least the front desk could let us know so that we don’t have to wait and wait and wait for nothing. Also, my friend lost a personal stuff in the room when we went out the hotel during the day. We were not sure if it got stolen or simply got regarded as a trash by the room keeping. We tried to report the issue but no response was provided.
We were enjoying out honeymoons and the mains issues which ruined the great vacation trip was regarding the billing. We were charged of pre-authorization for three times in totel! We have checked out on 05.10.2019 and on 05.13.2019 we were pre-authorized again! For the moment hotel still holds 730 USD in total. Second thing was the cleanliness of the room. Cleaning ladies should definitely focus more on hoovering and bathroom (shower) itself
This was a chaotic and uncomfortable stay. The a/c system was not great - we either over-heated or froze with a blast of cold air. Bed was one of the most uncomfortable hotel beds Ive experienced. Check in was crowded, poorly spaced (not enough lobby space for everyone trying to check in), and understaffed. Hotel was clean and well-appointed; nicely designed but this doesnt make up for the chaos or discomfort. The game area is a nice touch and the bar/restaurant area spacious and comfortable. There was no information in the room with regard to internet connectivity and there was a plastic bag over our fire detector, presumably from a previous guest covering it up. Overall, a disappointing Marriott experience.
My girlfriend and I stayed here one night when we visited a friend in NYC and we had a blast. We found the Moxy through Booking or Priceline but either way, it was great! Very cool place; they give you a token for a free drink when you check in, its their signature cocktail which was pretty good. The level where the bar is also has a game area and a lounge area with tables and couches. Theres also a basketball court that can double as a meeting room which i thought was awesome. The room was very cool and very nice. It is small, so if you want a big room, ask for bigger rooms but we didnt mind. Views from the hotel are awesome too. I definitely recommend staying here! The price was great, service was friendly and its an awesome location; right next to the fulton center subway station.
Stylish with a touch of vintage. The common area is surprisingly cool and fun - definitely worth checking it out. Room is as stylish. I think Moxy is more for leisure than business. You wont find a proper desk as in most other hotel, instead you can use the work space at the common area. It really reminds me of WeWork. If you like the concept of sharing, I think it is a hotel for you.
I stayed here for my birthday weekend and it was amazing. They give you a free check in drink and the lobby is a full bar/ playroom. There was also a DJ for the weekend. The rooms are great for a couple or solo travelers - great view but a touch cramped for more than 2.
The air conditioner was broke in my room (over 80 degrees) and I had to call the front desk twice(once to report and another to follow up because no one ever contacted or left a note) before they put me in another room.Went to the Bar for some water, but they had ran out of ice. The bartender gave me cold water but it was more of a room temperature. The Bar area as a whole was a nice spot, good music.Close to metro which was a plus.Very modern and chic
Good option for those visiting the Financial District, we had to get work done during the day and loved the atmosphere of Recreation to sit as a group and work. My only negative for the restaurant - get some gluten free options and educate your staff on what is and isnt gluten free, Im fairly sure our waiter didnt know what gluten was aside from bread. rooms were clean, property is hip and entertaining.
Lights in the room do not completely turn off (the bathroom mirror stays on as a night light--hotel management confirmed this). Long waits for any assistance, they could not even print keys for guests who were checking in. Ridiculously small gym. Not comparable to any Marriott experience I have had in over 20 years.
Excellent location, I would say it’s location is the best among all similarly priced mariott hotels downtown (aloft, AC, four points). However, the room is fairly small and they didi’t upgrade elite members as progressively as AC did. Great staff especially the bartender team! Would stay here again.
Convenient and fun place to stay. Very cleverly designed to maximize the space, with (almost) everything included. Comfortable bed. Reasonably sized bathroom with nice fixtures and plenty of shelf space. Nice touches like folding stools, under the bed safe, tote bag. Only complaints were: temperature/fan controls difficult to adjust, no info about amenities in the room, no refrigerator.
This hotel is the best that we stayed in while visiting NYC! The rooms are so cool and unique! The staff is excellent and the hotel is close to transit, and other sites to see!!! Their lounge area is so cool and relaxing!! I loved it because it was not as crowded as being close to time square! Highly recommend this hotel!
I loved staying at the Moxy NYC Downtown. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The room was small but never felt cramped because everything was so well thought out and functional. I loved the modern look of the room and the 1950’s/Mad men feel I got from the lobby bar. I had a fabulous time at the Moxy and would happily recommend to all my friends and family.
I traveled to NY for the weekend hoping to relax and enjoy my anniversary but this hotel ended up giving me a headache. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the location of the hotel and how close it was to fast food shops, popular shopping stores and tourist attractions but I won’t be staying here again. I arrived late afternoon to a packed lobby full of people waiting to check in (the line grew much longer after me) and a cramped space. I checked in and went through the check in procedures only to get charged twice by the hotel for different amounts shortly after. I asked the front desk attendant (believe her name was Sydney) why I was charged and she explained that it was an accident but could not explain the second charge. After we checked into the room, we turned the tv on and began to look for our favorite channels only to find out half of the channels worked and then the rest were just completely dark. I sent a message to the front desk through the app asking if that was normal and I was told by Sydney(?) that it actually was normal. That was a little interesting to me but whatever. Next, We spent a few hours shopping only to come back to our hotel room door being propped open (I have pictures and TRUST ME it is very hard to leave out without that door closing all the way and automatically locking by itself. I mentioned it to the front desk and they said they would run their cameras and gives us a call on the room phone if they saw anything. Why call the room phone and not my cell phone number in which you have on file? (DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD REALLY TELL THE TRUTH?) Keep in mind someone from the front desk randomly popped up before we left that afternoon asking about the tv so that could have been the reason but just close the freaking door once you’re done if you are “checking it” That was a complete breach of trust and I am so happy I stored all of my valuables in the safe before we left. The DJ in the gaming area was extremely rude and the area/skee ball machine was turned off by 12:45am when it was scheduled to stay open until 2am. All in all, this was not my favorite stay and I will definitely stay somewhere else if I ever come back to NY.
Really love this hotel. Its a no frills hotel without various amenities like Bliss lotion and face wash (think the W), it doesnt have a closet...at all (just hooks along the wall - see photos), but the room is really well laid out for optimal space usage. It reminds me of Nordic homes that really use clever design to optimize minimal space. And they did just that. It was clean, service was great, and there is a fun bar in the lobby with free coffee (basic good breakfast to purchase). Id definitely stay here my next trip to NYC.One bit of improvement for management: check-in on a Friday night was a madhouse with a huge line. There is an option to check in via a kiosk in the lobby but it doesnt work. And there is an option for Bonvoy members to check in via the app for a mobile key...but it doesnt work. This could help reduce this overhead. Just saying. I tried checking in in the afternoon and it was awful. Then came back and tried again at 11pm and it was still awful.
While I did not stay at this hotel, they are the absolute worst and sending a folio. I have called 3 times. You cannot even leave a message for accounting. Finally get a live person at a front desk who forwards me to the hotel manager as she has heard this is an issue. I leave a voicemail and still no receipt. Not all Assistants that do expenses have access to peoples Marriott accounts to get the folios on line.
Stylish and clean rooms. The lobby has couple of nice fun games and basketball. Almost all major subway lines are 1-2 blocks away from the hotel. The famous Joes Pizza, CVS, Starbucks, ZARA, and many more are within reach. I will definitely will stay again in Moxy Downtown.
I chose Moxy as my friend recommended it to me. Overall this was a great experience. You can’t beat the location of this hotel as it is right next to a super big subway station that transits you anywhere. It was a quick 15-20 minutes to almost everywhere I went. The staff at the hotel were all friendly and they did a great job in fulfilling needs. I’ve visited NYC for about 8-10 times and this is by far the best hotel i stayed at.
Nice views and crusty rooms.Location is great and views are nice but a request for “high floor” puts you on 5th floor out of 30.AC(Heater) was not working, paint chipping off walls and murky water coming out of the faucet. Requests for managers to call back do nothing but take you out of the Marriott survey without calling back. The security team is actually top notch because I had to call and leave a noise complaint for the first time in my life at 12am. The guard came up and told my neighbors to keep quiet. Then he came back in 10min and actually checked if they got quiet or not. Idk if it is a standard procedure but I think it is genius.
As I previously mentioned I was concerned with this location downtown and almost changed our reservations to Chelsea. Im certainly glad I didnt. The Anne street still has the (older) NYC gritty feel, which is a evaporating. It may have been a bold decision to choose placing a Moxy at this location from a corporate prospective but imho it was the perfect choice. When arrivingits necessary to walk through this hip(friendly) bar/lobby/eating area which is tastefully and with a local personal designed. That walk from one elevator bank to the other bank is all it takes for you to get hooked in.Great job we are currently booking some additional future nights with family and friendsRegardsDave L
Paid extra for a city view room that was not a city view and was told afterwards that a “city view” room is just any room above the 15th floor. My room was really dirty, shower and sink were not clean and was given a bathrobe with someone’s hair all over it. The door also had some residue all over it. I would not recommend paying this price for the hotel. Pretty bad experience, the only positive is the staff was willing to help as best as they could.
This is a modern style hotel with a simple check in that leads to a lounge where you can chill out and work, or have a drink, then take elevator to your room. It is not like a name brand hotel, but the staff are young and interesting and extremely helpful. Seems to be kid friendly. If you are not into cookie-cutter hotels, and like something offbeat but comfortable, this is a good choice.
Great hotel, confortable small rooms, nicely decorated, well located less then 5min walk away from the world trade center.only negative point was the associated parking lot wasn’t indicated, had to call in while circling around the streets trying to find it, receptionist only gave the adress quickly without trying to give us indication to find it.We were well greeted once we got to the lobby, drinks are great! We do recommend and would definitely go back
Don’t think/believe in this 4 stars hotel. Let me share my unlucky experience by naming few events: allowing a drunk guy sleeping in front of your door (security?), cleaning without schedule (do your housekeeping by yourself?), promises to contact you to provide any feedback/customer service (none, they don’t care about customers). Overall experience in this hotel: miserable! Go and find another hotel with proper experience on how to attend guests.

2021-12-28The Moxy NYC Downtown was an amazing place to stay! The room was phenomenal with plenty of room and the bathroom had plenty of toiletries and towels! The check in area was really clean and everyone followed covid requirements! We really enjoyed the view from our room too! It was gorgeous to wake up and see the city first thing in the morning!

2022-01-20I cant say enough good things about this place. The staff was super nice and its such a cute place. The only bad thing is that if have plans to see the city you might end up staying in because theres so much fun stuff to do inside the hotel. There are games and a basketball court inside the hotel. The room was really clean and comfortable. Its NYC small but my kid loved the swing chair and the view was great. Its also steps from ground zero, a 5 minute walk. Its near the train so you can get anywhere.

2022-05-21Clean hotel, however rooms are quite small. There is no cupboard. Fine for a shorter stay but tricky if youre staying for a week. They have provided me with additional hangers which was helpful. The safe in my room wasnt working. Engineer came and attempted to fix it, but it never got fixed. Even went down to reception to inquire but nothing was done. Got a note which said changed batteries, DO NOT use safe. Not very helpful. You only get room service once. Requested for additional which never happened either.Overall its clean but overrated in my opinion and very disappointed with the service.

2022-06-12Surprisingly good! The exterior and the reception area may turn you off but their rooms are pretty good, at least of you are a solo traveler. Clean and tidy with spacious bathroom. You have to hang your clothes on the open hangers as rooms don’t have any closets.

2021-12-13Tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt; however, I have had a HORRIBLE experience with them and am still dealing with it. I was staying for one Saturday night in a king room with a view. Check in is at 4pm and our room still was not ready at 7pm, they downgraded me to a queen with no view and the manager was rude when asking about compensation for the changes and wait. Room is nice, but way too small for 2 adults. At check out I was offered a reduced price which I later called back to have it further reduced as it was very little for the trouble we went through. There was something wrong with their system and I was charged the amount instead of getting a refund. The manager passed the case to accounting and I never heard back. I called multiple times to speak with a manager or accounting and no one was ever available. I disputed the charged on my credit card and they declined the dispute by showing the receipt that shows the refund as a CHARGE. I am STILL trying to get my refund over a month later. This is been an awful experience. I really liked the hotel aside from these issues, but I will not be returning.P.S. many of the amenities are still closed (no bar/restaurant in hotel)

2022-04-17Very cool city hotel right next to the world trade center. Also very close to Brooklyn bridge and all mayor subways taking you to midtown Manhattan. Rooms are small and off course getting better with the elevation, but absolutely fine and most importantly very clean. Theres no breakfast included, but you can order some (or use the cafés nearby)

2022-06-03The room was nice... and we liked being away from the noise of uptown, but the hotel was very boring. Zero energy from the staff. The lobby was just strange, not fun. You cant have two games and say its an arcade. They had a DJ stand... but not once a DJ. Food was good... drinks were ok.

2022-06-24Clean, nice bar, very comfortable bed. 3/5 because the WiFi was unusable and even cellular was struggling. Room was extremely small even by city standards, and the shower barely got above lukewarm.Gym was well appointed, but there are no fans. Air was super stagnant, making for a bad time on the treadmill.Overall wouldn’t stay here again.

2022-06-24Modern hipster feel. Pretty tight from a room space availability but they are very nice rooms, unless you wanted space to work. Bar is quite cool. Service ok but can get busy and crowded in check-in.

2022-05-02This moxy has a great view and the staff was very friendly. The drinks were decent, but we weren’t offered a drink upon checking in. It might have been because we checked in early though. The room is the same size as all moxies you’ve used. It’s smaller than a typical hotel room, but it’s the right size for a couple who spends a majority of their time out exploring.Side note: the gym is really pitiful. Who actually uses a punching bag? And who in their right mind would use a bike trainer with that type of bike?? I feel like it was designed more for an aesthetic than an useful gym. Aside from the treadmill I was very unimpressed.
