We were so excited to happen upon this stop on our ride around the lakes. The quantity of cheeses available to try with their tasting was impressive. We left with several varieties to take home and enjoy along with some souvenirs, nuts and jellies. As farmers ourselves, we had a great time chatting with them during our visit.
We were looking for some local wine, beer, cheese tasting opportunities this past rainy Sunday of Labor Day weekend and came across Muranda in our search. We set the GPS and took off to see what we would find. What we thought would be a cheese tasting turned into a barn-burner of an afternoon! Not only was there truly awesome cheese, wine and beer there was a live band in the barn loft (The Dean’s List - check them out!) and a crowd of some of the most fun people you could have assembled. The staff were amazing, friendly and fun and made a kinda drizzly day into the highlight of our weekend. We left with arm loads of cheese and hoarse throats from singing along with the band. We can’t wait to return!
My wife had visited previously on a wine trip through the area. The Murray family converted their dairy farm to a gourmet cheese company. Putting a local touch on popular American and international cheese favorites the flavors are spectacular. Includes some surprising twists with cheddar and Parmesan style productions.
This place is a MUST stop in your day of visiting the Finger Lakes. The cheese tasting, with Vicky, was awesome. She was knowledgeable, friendly and gave suggestions on how to use the cheeses in recipes. This cheese was fresh and tasty! Bought lots to bring home and share. Then there’s BBQ sauce, mustard and jams which are the best. Useable pottery for sale also and super friendly, fun people. Put this stop on your list!! Also learned there’s music on the weekend and will incorporate that into our next visit.
Finger Lakes, NYIf you like cheese 🧀, this is the place to try it! Great little gift shop along with trying and buying the best cheese around that area. Enjoy a beverage of your choice along with experiencing this beautiful barn built in the 1800s. A must do if you are ever in the area.
This visit was like going to a wine tasteing, but better because you are not drunk for the drive home. They do serve alcohol if you want spend some time on the beautiful back deck. The lady that ran our tasting was great. She was able to answer all of our questions, and made the tasting very fun. The cheese was outstanding, personally I left with more than I intend to. Dont worry it will NOT go to waste. If you are like my wife and you can only eat pasteurized cheeses (do to a surpressed immune system), fear not all the cheeses they are now pasteurized! There is also a selection of local art, every needed to make a cheese board, and merch. You might be asking yourself, how is ambiance for a place that make cheese? Well if you visit while its warm out the restored barn is where everything takes place and its perfect (Hallmark if you are look for place to shoot your next movie, check this place out). Check out their facebook page because it sounds like they have have events also. Before we left for our vacation they had live music and a food truck. In summary, I would tell my friends, family, and enemies all to make a stop at Muranda Cheese because it is simply well worth it. (I forgot to take photos, but next time I visit I plan on having plenty to upload).
Fantastic variety of cheeses! Full of flavors that you cant get anywhere else. Personal favorite is Red Rider, its got a great heat and flavor to it! Staff are very nice and extremely welcoming. Relaxing on the porch in the back finishing up drinks, and deciding what cheese to get really just ties together the experience.
What a fantastic crowd and venue to listen to music...Joe Whiting and his band was great...terrific energy! Easy drive from Syracuse, always worth it. One tip Id offer to management is having a vending tray person walk around and sell cans and bottles of wine...the line for drinks seemed to be long and non-stop...bring back easy way to shell out concessions.
Amazing and large selection of aged cheeses as well as a beautiful spot. The owners take time to engage and explain their business and how they put out this great product. Great local wines with a beautiful bar too. This would be a perfect wedding venue. Dont miss this place!
Excellent experience, our cheese monger Vicky was very hospitable, knowledgeable and welcoming. All cheeses are cows milk from their farm with 3 pasteurized options. We tried 13 for only $4 and our favorites were the Bleu and smoked Gouda. They feature local wines, apple juices (many flavors!) and brews. Additionally there is live music on particular nights along with fun outdoor/indoor seating spaces and other neat finds like ceramics, squash seeds & and oils. A must visit in the FLX!
The Old Man Cheddar is quite possibly my favorite cheese of all time. The cheeses are quite good as well, Lady of the Lake is a nice twist Ive never tried before. If you cant make it to the, shop, you should try, its amazing, many of the wineries/vineyards in the area sell Murandas cheese. Dont leave the FLX without some!
Absolutely the best place to go if u want the best cheese u will ever taste, beautiful setting, knowledgeable and friendly staff and they make u feel welcome. Blaine and Tom are great people as are the entire staff. Been there about 2 dozen times and will continue to go there. Don’t pass this place up. The cheese is out of this world. Can get beer, wine and cider there too.
The cheese tasting was really cool because you got to try 12 different kinds of cheese before you decided if you wanted to buy them. The cheese was also diverse in flavor which was nice. The atmosphere of the place was my favorite because its in a barn with white string lights all around and it just had a warm romantic feel to it. This was definitely a fun activity and I would come back in the future!
Great place to have a relaxed cheese tasting. The barn is a beautiful spot they have set up for this. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, but most importantly the cheeses were delicious. I personally enjoy the Muranda Blue. We stop here every time we visit the Finger Lakes.
Was greeted right away and purchased 2 glasses of their wine. Cheese tasting was orderly and spaced out. She was friendly and very knowledgeable. Only disappointment was we couldnt try cheeses that were Sold Out. But we certainly had plenty anyway. Beautiful setting!!
You do not want to miss out on this experience! This was the most fun thing we did on our trip to the Finger Lakes! The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The cheese tastings include 13 different cheeses, all of which are excellent! They have a nice selection of beer, wine and sodas that you can enjoy along with your cheese. They also have a very nice gift shop with t-shirts, hats and other items, all of which are reasonably priced. They also are upfront and honest with their pricing of their cheeses, each block is clearly marked, no surprises when you go to pay at the register.
Wonderful hidden treasure! Found this gem searching side roads on a lady minute adventure. It was a serene surrounding offering peace and quiet with an amazing cheese pairing to go with it. They started small and have grown into a huge place that many would die to get married at. They are quiet during the day, but weekends and holidays get busy. Loved our stop, cannot wait to go again!
I was expecting more of a traditional cheese shop with regular cheese, like curds. This is an experience such is great if thats what youre looking for. They had cheese tasting ($6) and you could have a glass of wine (I dont drink). It was touristy but classy. I was looking to buy cheese but the cheese in the cooler was all specialty cheese when all I really wanted was curds. If you want an experience its worth stopping. If you want curds this didnt satisfy my craving. As an aside it would make an interesting wedding venue (but not sure they do that sort of thing). Theres nothing wrong with it, just not what I was expecting or hoping for.
This is one of my favorite places to visit when in the Finger Lakes region. Whether you are looking for a place to take 5 between wine tastings, while visiting the Waterloo Outlets, out for a Fall foliage ride, visiting local antique stores or even if you just like cheese (and who doesnt like CHEESE!) I highly recommend stopping there. You can do a cheese tasting of 13+ varieties and sit on the porch of their barn while relaxing with a local beer, wine or cider.
I ordered a few products online and we are all very satisfied. The cheese is very fresh and yummy. Amid supply chain crisis, Muranda products are much much better holiday gifts than those stuck on the sea outside LA port. There are so many local-made and made-in-America products that can make our lives and holidays happier!
Just went to this cheese company and what an experience! Wow! Weve been to many wine tasting but this surpassed them all. We were greated by Patsy where we got our beverages. They serve wine 🍷beer and fruit juices. Then we got to try 17 cheeses. It was awesome. Put this on your list for a cheese journey.
Completely AMAZING 🤩 So delicious and yummy! We are on our honeymoon going around the Finger Lakes camping, and we decided to stop here. They not only have cheese but delicious jams, and many other goodies. The barn where they have it is gorgeous and they explain everything about what you are tasting for the cheese. There is wine, beer, hard cider, and pop to drink. The cider pairs so nicely with the cheese. Definitely make it on your stop if you’re out this way.
We had THE BEST experience here! Diane walked us through the cheese tasting. She was so awesome and taught us so much. The cheese was so good we bought 7 out of the 12 we tasted we would have bought them all if we had more money 😂. It was one of our favorite things we did in the finger lakes!
We discovered Muranda Cheese while sorting through brochures and flyers. Worth the drive. Sarah guided our tasting of 13 cheeses with great information, well presented. She did a great job and we grabbed several cheese choices when it was over. We spoke to the father and son owners and they added yet another friendly take to our experience. The setting, on the farm in a repurposed barn, was charming.
DO NOT skip this place on your tour of the finger lakes! We visit the finger lakes every year and this is the first time we visited Muranda. I have to admit, I wasn’t crazy about going to a cheese place on our wine tour, but I’m so glad we did. The variety of cheeses blew me away. We went back to get cheese when we left (play it smart and bring a cooler). One way or another, you won’t be leaving the finger lakes without some Muranda cheese!
Wonderful place, food🧀,wine🍷,ciders, live music🎶, sat outside and the country views are so nice with a breeze. Serving wonderful foods and the music is great, the ways they could expand and still keep its charm, I could see where they could go further being in the same business for over 30yrs.i will be back, nice relaxing day,Thank you💞
LOVE THIS PLACE!! IF YOUVE NEVER BEEN- GO!! The atmosphere and the people are amazing! We listened to a band called HOTDOGS AND GIN there. EXCELLENT!! Outside deck is awesome!! The wine and cheese are Delicious!! Wish this place was closer to home- Id visit there more often! LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!
Loved our visit to Muranda Cheese. In season their tastings are offered in a lovely old 1800s barn. We tasted 16 cheeses for $5 and all were just great. Our host did a wonderful job with our tasting. They also offer area beverages to enjoy with our tasting. The cheeses are produced from their farms milk and are just delicious. Can be a nice pause between wine tastings in the area or in our case was a great rainy day activity. We loved all the cheeses and purchased some to take with us (offered in packaging that did not require refrigeration which was helpful) Well be back :- ) We had great fun - thanks for a great time! (in the off season their tastings continue and just move to another building on sight)
We felt very safe here. There was live music, enough space to social distance and delicious cheese. I recommend the old man cheddar. Masks must be worn of course and everyone was really lovely. Tom was so helpful and we are very grateful for the experience in this new world!
Best cheese I have ever tasted. Such a nice gem out in the country of Waterloo. The Murray family is so personable and they have a wonderful selection of cheese tastings. For just a few dollars, you can take over a dozen of their unique cheeses made from their cows milk. They also offer local wines to pair with. An overall beautiful place with the open barn on scene, too.
Excellent cheeses, their blue is one of the best Ive ever had. They let you try all 17 of their cheeses (they were out of one when we stopped but it didnt diminish the visit at all). They also have a small selection of wines so you can enjoy a glass while you sample their selections. I would definitely visit again.
Enjoyed my first cheese tasting of twelve delicious selections. Made from their own cows, this cheese is a unique experience. The staff is particularly friendly, handling bus tours on the premises with ease. The huge barn has been pristinely restored, with a beautiful flooring. It can accommodate a variety of private events.Highly recommend a visit.
What a beautiful place! A bit in the middle of nowhere, but so worth the trip. We had traveled to the finger lakes for the wineries (and the lakes of course) and I had read reviews about Murando Cheese so we had to visit. We were the only ones there for a bit, so we had the owners undivided attention. He was so much fun and it was a great experience. We tasted 14 cheeses I believe and all of us bought at least 3 different varieties. They do sell inexpensive insulated coolers if you have a long trip home. Its an absolutely beautiful barn, with a gift shop area - which we all took advantage of - highly recommend if you are in the area.
Such a great accidental find on our girls get away weekend! We were given a warm and humorous welcome. The woman who did our tasting was wonderful! She gave us a detailed background on each cheese as well as on all the local artisans also selling products there. Beautiful setting as well!
This place has outstanding cheeses. I was with a group tour so Im not sure what the tasting might cost, can definitely say I enjoyed it. Be careful of the beverage costs my tiny soda was included, but had I realized how small they were for $6 I would have ordered the wine or a different beverage. The water was only a $ 1 obviously a much better option.
Cheeses were really good. 15 samples, and you can get hard cider, or wine with samples.Nice family place. When you go, you need to check out the renovated barn, its not heated but it is an amazing show of the vision and dedication this family has to being a top class venue for entertainment.
Wow. My wife Daphne and I stopped in on Thursday, June 7, 2019. Owner Tom spent 20 great minutes with us for cheese tasting (15 varieties). Had a blast. Friendly, funny, very informative. Bought cheeses, cheese knives, shirt. Had a wonderful cold draft while we tasted the cheeses. He and his family are doing it right! Keep it up.Thanks T!
A true hidden gem. The owner is friendly, funny and nice guy. When we came into the tasting barn we were welcomed by the owner and asked it if we would like to do a tasting and have a drink. We ordered the drinks and before we went for our tasting we offered to pay and he said no, pay when you are all done. We enjoyed our tasting and learned about their cheeses then went on their deck for a nice quiet afternoon of cocktails. This place is a true hidden gem
Oh my! The cheese tasting here is the bomb. Also such a good complement to drinking wine all day. The tasting space is beautiful. The staff are super courteous, funny and helpful. Also, the cheese is really good. I recommend this place to all of my friends doing wine tasting in the area.
We stopped during a weekend trip to wineries along the Finger Lakes. Looking for a little something different we opted for a cheese tasting here. What a great stop, the cheeses were terrific and the folks even better. The explanations of each of the cheeses was great and the serving choices were great. There was never a rush and we were encouraged to spend as much time as we wanted. This was / is a great place to visit.
Such a great place!! Tastings into the fall are in a big beautiful barn built in 1860, I believe. In the winter they move into a smaller building. Gorgeous lighting thru out the barn. Owners and staff were so friendly and accommodating. It is a must stop while in the Finger Lakes!!
Absolutely loved this place the people are so friendly and accommodating could not get over how amazing the cheese cider and sauces were it is a must when you are in the area don’t deprive yourself !!! They also have live music it is also very easy to spend money here !
This is a very cool place! We were in town for a vacation, found this place from visiting a local winery. Amazing cheese, met the family that owns it. What welcoming great people! Staff was great to work with. Very knowledgeable and friendly! And the cheese is Awesome!
Found this place this summer (best time to go), been back 3 times. Great cheese tastings in an amazing setting, check out the website for music and food truck events. But just sitting on the back deck or under a BigAss fan sipping a glass of local wine or craft beer, Im good.
Best cheese company in the Finger Lakes, in my opinion! I have been visiting the area now, for 6 years, and this cheese company has excellent tasting cheese, MANY different varieties, and adds new varieties every so often. The cheeses are made 100% from their Holstein cows, and the owner is often working at their tasting counter, and will answer any questions you may have. He is extremely knowledgeable, kind and courteous, making cheese tasting a very pleasurable experience. We were just there this past week, and he had 13 cheeses out for tasting. ALL VERY GOOD. If you decide to purchase, the cheese prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended. Ive been to 4 other creamery/ cheese farms in the Finger Lake area, and this is by FAR, the best. DONT MISS IT!
If you love cheese Muranda will fulfill your desire for great cheese! The staff is very friendly & the tasting is very reasonably priced! They also have wine, beer & cider which is really good! Theres also lotions, soaps, jams, olive oils & souvenirs. I highly recommend a visit to Muranda!
Great place, we were visiting from out of town on an organized cycling (Bicycle) and loved the cheese and their other products. We wanted to make a purchase however I car was 40 miles away and we had no way to carry the products back. The owner graciously offered to personally drive what we purchased back to the start point for us. Beautiful barn! Great people!
My wife and I were in Geneva for the weekend and coming here was one of the major highlights of our trip. We were graciously welcomed and the host was friendly, attentive, passionate, and knowledgeable about the different cheeses. So much good cheese. You can pair your cheese with a glass of wine or beer.
The cheese. The cheese is incredible. Made from cows milk from the cows on site. Just delicious. Wonderful rotation of local beer, wine, and cider too along with spectacular views. Owner Tim is a gracious host that we loved spending time talking with. This is a must-do if youre anywhere near here.
Excellent story of how a passion can turn into a beautiful business. There is more to the story with a tasting too. Our group was given an opportunity to witness how hard work and a dream can be worked together to form an organization that is almost unique in New York State. The cheese you will taste here are the best and the blends of different groups tend to be wonderful to taste as well.
The Place was nice & the People were very nice, however if they gave you any Smaller piece of cheese to sample, you would need a magnifying glass to see it! For a place that makes its own cheese one would think that you would at least get a Slice instead of a Bitty little piece of cheese?
My wife and I stopped here after visiting the Peter Whitmer farm. They have a testing option, where for a certain price, you can sample the various cheeses they have. My wife and I enjoyed this tremendously. We then bought about 6 different blocks of the cheeses we liked. What we still have left that I recommend are “Dilly Girl,” which I am snacking on right now, roasted garlic cheddar cheese, and the “Muranda Blue Cheese.” There was a smoked Gouda that was actually smoked instead of chemically processed for the smoke taste, and a couple others we bought that I can’t remember the names of that we have already enjoyed snacking on. The gentleman who assisted us was the actual owner of the farm and is a very nice and interesting person to talk with. I can’t overly recommend this cheese company, their cheeses, and this as an enjoyable place to stop, sample cheeses, and most pleasurably, enjoy an interesting conversation.
Oooh...ahhhh! You must visit here whenever you are in the area! Yummy cheese and great tasting with ETOH offerings as well. Summer time ratings are held in the barn which is just lovely with twinkling lights and a great view from the tasting bar. Suggestions for uses of the different cheeses are given.
Myself and 4 other locals decided to go check out Muranda Cheese Company today only to be extremely disappointed by the off-putting treatment. We have worked in the service industry in our area and have served Muranda Cheese at our establishments. We all LOVED the cheese and NEEDED to visit the location. As we walked towards their entry way we were immediately confronted by an older gentleman that told us to be patient. I cant imagine we looked like we were impatient or rude in any way as we were just walking towards their building. After we entered, we stood waiting to be given direction and again were confronted with harshness by the older gentleman who practically yelled ARE YOU IMPATIENT?? At that point we all unanimously decided that there was no reason to be treated like this and our money could be spent in better/more appreciative establishments. Needless to say, we will not be going out of our way to visit your business or purchase your cheese again!

2022-06-12Lovely people who really love cheese. Beautiful old barn with lots of string lights. Visited on a cloudy Sunday so not too busy before the live band began to play. Not too many seats inside; locals knew to bring their lawn chairs. We tasted twelve different cheeses - all cow’s milk is locally sourced - while we sipped wine. We ate beforehand but noticed they were preparing food on the grill. There was a few picnic tables available to enjoy the food. Worth a visit. My favorite cheese was the cranky old lady cheddar. Yum!

2022-05-15Wonderful experience! Highly recommend. Relaxed, great for a date or a group of friend. We thought the cheese tasting was a fun twist. There is free water at the bar available if you need a break from beer, wine, and ciders. I liked every cheese we got to try but the checkerboard and smoked cheddar stood out.

2021-10-29Found this little gem by accident while driving through the beautiful Finger Lakes. Enjoyed our cheese tasting so much! Who doesnt like cheese! And it was fabulous to learn and taste some unique flavors. All was delicious and available to purchase if youre interested. Beautiful view in the back of the farm. Staff was a joy! Well be back with friends

2021-10-30Check this place out! It is beautiful inside and the cheese tasting was awesome. Their smoked varieties and the blue cheese were some of the best that Ive ever had. We also purchased mulled wine with a shot of whiskey which was delicious. After the tasting you can check out their awesome selection of cheese, drinks, and goodies.

2021-09-05Incredible Gem of the finger lakes region. A day at Muranda Cheese Company is well worth your time. The quality of the cheeses are world-class - make sure you buy some to take with for a wine and cheese party - the friendless of the staff and their expertise in making of the cheeses and the region, and the beautiful surroundings and the barn. A great way-point in between winery tours or a place to have wine with your cheese from all over the finger lakes region. Strong recommend.

2022-05-23Ive been twice now and the cheese is amazing! We sampled about 10 cheeses, and brought our favorites home. Fun drink choices, from alcoholic to craft sodas, and a cute gift area.

2021-09-05We got recommendations to this place from a vineyard tour near Seneca lake. So went there with some expectations. We were not disappointed. The place was really good and kids loved the cheese tasting. The price for cheese tasting was very reasonable. We went during late afternoon and the cows were let out for grazing. It was so cool seeing that.

2021-09-26What a total hidden gem and surprise to our trip to Lake Seneca. We heard about it from the bartender where we stayed. Although we didnt do any of the cheese tasting, we did have a very good wine. The atmosphere and beauty of this location are worth 5 stars alone. The owner Tom was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. Although he was very busy with keeping things running smoothly, he stopped and talk to us a few times as if we were old friends. He exudes a very well earned pride in what he and his family have built. We stayed and enjoyed listening to the live band ( The Deans List). They were also very good and of course were vetted by Tom. I cant say it looked like anyone there wasnt having a great time. We will definitely return on our next trip from Connecticut.

2022-01-19We came here when staying in Geneva and it was a fun and short activity. The cheese tastings are $7 per person and you get to try about 7-8 different cheeses. The owners are very knowledgeable about the cheeses and recommend what dishes to use the different cheeses in.They also have cheeses and other local Finger Lakes products (jams, sauces, etc) for sale in their shop.I do believe they are also dog friendly.

2021-07-31We had a group of 10 for a bachelorette party and the employees were very accommodating. They were very nice, quick to help and explained all the cheeses very well. They had a good variety of cheese. So happy with our experience
