Im a New Yorker but work in London a few months out of the year and when Im not there I get a craving for a sausage roll, meat pie or a Cornish pasty. Myers of Keswick is my source to cure that craving. My favorite sausage roll in London is the M&S Food Hall sausage roll and Myers version is almost identical to it - nice and buttery, flaky, some burnt edges and spicy sausage. Absolutely perfect and even better than many celebrated places in London in my opinion.
British imported goods and fresh made pies been around since the 80sLove the chicken and leek pie scotch eggs and shepherds pie meals to take home for the weekend and decently priced also very welcoming staff i easily drop $55+ everytime i come here but food for the family for days
Home from home.If youre British and you want to find those home comforts or if youre just purely looking to find good quality British products, this is your place. My favourite is the Cadbury chocolate selection. You can find products such as Heinz beans, marmite, typical British cereals, meats, pastrys, ketchup and lots lots more. The staff are friendly and attentive and always happy to chat. Pricing as you would expect is on the high end since all the products are imported, but it saves you a flight cost :-)
Just visited for the first time and was quite disappointed. The customer service was terrible. Two very unfriendly and bored looking ladies behind the counter had no kind greeting and nothing to say to us. They were personality-less which is not what you’d expect from a small family owned businesses. If you want cheery English hospitality, go just a few blocks away to the trio of English shops: A Salt & Battery (chippy), Tea & Sympathy (sit down restaurant), and the little sweet shop nestled in-between. They are lovely over there. Always friendly and talkative. In fact, we went there straight from Myers and the contrast was astonishing. Myers: take note and do better. Based on other reviews we’re not the only ones to feel this way. Also, I ordered two cheese & onion & potato pasties. They were bland and had no cheese. In my experience in England & Ireland, cheese is a dominant ingredient.
For a English native living in NYC this has lots of the comfort foods that are missed being on this side of the pond. From the bangers, pies, scotch eggs through to the biscuits, crisps and proper chocolate this is a must to stock up on goods to make home here feel like home.
A true gem. Have come here from NJ for many years with/for a friend that is a British transplant! Its his favorite place to get a true taste of home and get all of his favorite snacks from England he cant get anywhere else! The sausage rolls are to die for, and they have a ton of British classic candies, snacks and drinks!
Love this place! If you are looking for your favorite UK staples, they have everything! They also produce their own home-made sausages, savory pies, pasties and sausage rolls and everything yous want from an ex-pat store. Plus they have a Tuxedo guard cat named Archie who is adorable!
My wife of 46 years is from England and I decided to surprise her with some English sausage and bacon. I found Myers on Google and decided to give it a try. I was a little disappointed looking at the refrigerated goods as the pictures on the site showed so many choices. The woman in charge was a little tough which didnt make me feel that welcome but the young woman who attended to us was great. When I arrived home I immediately tried the cornish pasties which were very good. I cant wait to try the sausage as I bought three different ones. Hopefully they will be as good as the pasties and my wife will be happy.
Fantastic little bit of Britain at the bottom of Manhattan. They have a great selection of fresh store made meat pies and sausages as well pasties. They have a fantastic selection of all kinds of British foods pickles, preserves, potato crisps, teas, soft drinks, biscuits and cakes. Almost forgot to mention real Cadbury chocolate made in the UK.
If you are feeling nostalgic about the UK or are homesick for it, this place is worth a look. Selection is OK, spreads, candies, Cadburys, baked pies, etc.. Pricing is high. Its not just the expected import and currency conversion mark ups (which are high). They add a 4% charge if you use a credit card and call it a NYS fee. I didnt notice it until I looked at the receipt after and the cashier didnt mention it prior to running the card. Just seems like an extra money grab.
One of my FAVORITE PLACES!! The staff is wonderful and the pies are perfect. Every pie. No exceptions. My favorite is the pork and Stilton. And to the lovely young lady who helped me today, I really love the Marmite. It’s like a vegan anchovy paste. I appreciate your honesty and I am so grateful for the pie!
This grocery shop is near our place and it was full of stocked always. They sell from household needs to our personal necessities. Their products were well-organized here. They have the friendliest and helpful staff here than any other grocery shop in the city. They have the friendliest butcher, too.
Small store but they have an some interesting stuff from the UK as well as freshly made food items to buy. I didnt try those but I did enjoy going in and looking around. I ended up getting some other stuff and the employees were friendly. Will visit again if Im in the area.
British store selling staple British foods. Im British and was delighted to find this shop, the window display reminded me of the TV show open all hours.Good selection of home made pies and pasties, I only had a pork pie, which was fabulous and Ill definitely return to try the other goods.Buying UK food in the USA isnt cheap anywhere, so to me, these items are a special treat and I appreciate the quality and flavour of all these goods is far superior to the American counterparts.
The best shop ever! Ive been going to this grocery shop many times now, and these guys really have the best products that are fresh and affordable. This place really has it all, and Im grateful because their staffs are amazing and helpful. I could not ask for more from these guys because they truly are the best!
I like what the shop has to offer but I am always appalled by the managers attitude every time I walk in. She was curt two weeks ago. Today was especially brutal in this climate of anxiety. Being told rudely that I should be shopping for the groceries before I order the fresh pies from the counter. There were no instruction signs. I had even called earlier to ask if I should order before picking up, and assured that there would be plenty left. I dont need this kind of service when we are all trying to be compassionate and supportive of all the opened establishments struggling out there. Definitely not your quintessential mom and pop shop when it comes to English politeness.
Super insane about the mask! boards, written, insulting posters, verbal, it’s everywhere you turn, really puts you off shopping here. Heard some ppl commenting on it outside too. Very weird obsession w it, even after mandate has ended & CDC study shows these pieces of fabric can reduce transmission by up to 1.9% - for sick ppl - for a virus w almost 100% survival... statistically rendering them pointless lol. I don’t know how these ppl ever got through a flu season! Shame as it was a nice store.
A small English grocery store. Had gone there to pick up a Christmas cake and Shepherds pie and Cornish pasty for Christmas dinner. They also had lots of English jams and marmalade, digestive cookies (dark chocolate ones - very tasty!). Most of the items are imported from England. The fresh food is made here. The pie and the pastry were excellent. Made for a great Christmas dinner. Slightly expensive but well worth it.
Great shop, fab people and positive vibes. Shop has a wonderful wide selection of UK goodies, meats/chippies/candy/drinks/cookies/teas/mugs and misc items. Feels like a little slice of old England right in the West Village, a perfect fit.Worth a trip and easy to get to from 1 or 2 train and A/C/E at 14th st. Nearby is Chelsea market, High Line, Museum, a park, more quaint shops and gorgeous old houses. Best nabe in the city!
Wonderful little shop that caters to all things British!!! Prices are a smidge high, but given that most of the items are imported its reasonable. Small space with Lots of stuff around be prepared to do some contortions when crowded. They also sell baked goods, that Ill need to come back and try!
Ive always liked this local store. I used to come here quite often when I lived on Jane Street. We used to always order the chicken & mushroom pie or the chicken leek pie. They were so good. I believe it was here nearly twenty-five years ago that I learned Kit Kats were from England. The retired owners were so nice...the current owners are very cool too.
Has some great British home comforts, but be careful with the sell by dates when buying. I was about to buy coffee that was out of date 8 months ago and on closer inspection I found several other products out of date. I understand that the turnover of some products can be slow but there is no excuse for out of date stock here. Its a small store and and easy to manage.
Came here for supplies for a Xmas fruit cake... they had everything but mixed-spice, and the helpful lady pointed me toward whole foods for my missing ingredients.Couldnt resist a pork pie on my way out and I am so glad I got one, it was outrageously good - possibly the best Ive ever tasted. Five-star pork-pie.Go for the bacon, come back again and again for the pork pie and chipolatas.
Bought two dozen Christmas fruit mince pies last Christmas, they were supposedly fresh baked, what a crock that is. They were not fresh baked, but were packet pies taken out of a packet and presented as fresh. The mincemeat filling was basically jam. Dont waste your money.
The sausages and bacon are immense. If youre a Brit, or a curious non-Brit, come and get some of their sausages. Either the Banger or Cumberland. If you only want to pick one get the Banger. Wonderfully meaty in a way only British sausages are! Also wide selection of British groceries.
I have been here since I was a child. I live in Tennessee and I traveled to NYC recently and decided to drop by, its just as magical as I remember. Any true British-american will appericate the sweet British charm and the wide selection of homeland products. I also had no problem taking 2 pies in a carry on back home with me. Im already getting together my next order to ship. I love love love this place, it made me feel like a kid again!!!
Lots of British goods and treats. If you miss home in the UK and all the things sold there, this place is for you. They were selling walkers chips that have been expired by a couple of days, buy one get one free deal. For me, expired or best buy dates dont mean much, as long as its unopened and still crispy, its all good.Brought a Ribena drink from the fridge that looks like a cabinet 1.75$, I didnt have cash but they glady accepted credit; there was no minimum. The black cat in the store is pretty friendly.
WANT BRITISH FOOD?*MANHATTAN: Myers: Largest selection. Bed, Bath & Beyond (6th Avenue @18th Street): Cheaper confectionary.*QUEENS: Butchers Block (41st street): Largest selection. Cheaper than Manhattan.*BROOKLYN: Fferins Candy Store: Largest selection, Food Bazaar (Red Hook), Key Food (5th Avenue) These 3 stores combined equal ONE Myers or B.Block in selection size.
Great selection from mushy peas to Persil. Its fun just to go and browse. Prices are quite high, however. Im not really sure how these import shops stay in business. They also dont have an oven with which to heat up pasties/pies. Bit weird, considering they would need an oven to make them.
This is your go-to spot if youre an Anglophile or just love Cadbury chocolates. They serve everything from grab and go goodies like crisps, chocolates and beyond, but also serve fresh food, which Ill definitely return to enjoy. Friendly staff and credit cards are accepted.
I was very disappointed. I had seen a glowing review on PBS and was so excited to indulge in a scotch egg, sausage roll and a cornish pasty. I dont know if this was an off day but all of the above looked old and uninviting.I got a scotch egg anyway and it tasted like it looked 😩
Mince pies baked daily and in stock. That is what the website claims. But if you walk to the store, they are sold out and you cannot order. This is false advertising. Otherwise seemed to be a poor selection of over-priced goods. Not sure why this store exists. Better off ordering on-line.
If youve ever been privy to eating British comfort food such as meat pies, scotch eggs and cornish pasties, youll be in heaven exploring the aisles of Myers of Keswick. A small grocery store meat bakery hybrid, Myers has everything you would want to feel the nostalgia of UK treats. From candies, to baked beans from ketchup chips to jars of marmite theres everything you would fancy and at a reasonable price. But the main pull are their baked British treats, the best of which I found to be the scotch egg however the cornish pastie was no slouch either.Bottom Line: A bit heavy in terms of the types of food they sell, Myers of Keswick scratches a very specific type of itch but for anyone craving UK sweets and treats you will surely be satisfied.
One of the better places around for finding Brit fare thats hard to find elsewhere all in one spot. Apart from the more obvious stuff like Ribena they also have drinks like dandelion and burdock and Irn-Bru. Ive tried a number of their pies/pasties and theyre very decent (especially ones with stilton!). They also freeze well.
Myers is treasure trove for expats and Anglophiles. It works as a prepared foods section, a baker, a junk food bodega, and soda shoppe - but all products, tastes and treats are from Old Blighty, down to the chubby black cat who sometimes guards the door. Be kind to the blonde behind the counter and shell be kind to you.

2022-01-05Homesick Brits, meat pie and sausage lovers in general need to visit this quaint specialty shoppe. Get there early, especially if you are craving a steak and ale pie because those delicious babes go fast! The Cumberland sausage roll and pork meat pie are also very, very tasty. I was also glad to see they they required masks be worn and they limited access to six in-store customers at a time.

2021-12-29As an Australian living in NYC I love this store as it gives me a feeling of home. The Christmas mince pies are perfect, just like my grandma used to make. It is expensive, but to be expected for imported goods and its worth it for a bit of Vegemite toast on a cold day.

2021-05-05A very British grocery store! This place has wonderful British goods! We usually come here for the meat pies and the bangers. They have wonderful treats options. For a tiny place they offer tons of items! Service was friendly and speedy. Definitely check this place out it’s close to the red and blue MTA trains. They also take online orders so check their websites out.

2022-06-30Lived in the US for over 20 years and originally from the UK. British food such as sausages, pasties and pies are available from numerous companies in the US but the quality is seriously poor. In May of 2022, my brother visited from the UK and New York was part of our travel plans. Never heard of Myers before but we found the location on Google Maps and drove by and purchased a pork pie. We cut it into 4 and each tried it. I havent tried a pork pie in 20 years but let me tell you that this was the highest quality ingredients Ive ever tried. Most pies in Britain contain gristle (lumpy chewy fat) but Myers pies were unbelievably amazing. Better than any pie I have ever had in the UK including M&S. Ive since purchased their sausages and the conclusion is that if you are from the UK and want TRUE British food, bypass Tommy M brands etc. Myers is the real deal.

2022-06-09If you are into British food, their selections are excellent. The individual pork pies are very tasty. Plenty of canned goods (Heinz baked beans etc) and pickles/chutneys.

2022-07-05Having been an immigrant from England for about as long as Myers has also been here (early 1980s), I had always wondered if this place was just Anglophile kitsch. After more than three decades I finally, while my wife picked up treacle for the Xmas pud, got the sausage rolls. We ate on the bench outside and were both taken aback by just how damned good they were - the savory sausage and the flaky pastry. This was better than any I have recently had back in England. We immediately got more sausage rolls and, now confident in the quality of the product, also bought 1lb of the Cumberland sausage. I made those this eve with mash, peas, and onion gravy. The sausages - which they seem to make themselves - were a wonderful, lovely savory mix of pork and spices. Cant believe I ever wondered about this place, Myers offers the real deal!
