MyUnique Thrift in other cities:
Everyone who gives a bad review of this place either had a bad first experience or are going off about prices. There’s almost ALWAYS DEALS! It ranges by the color on price tag from 25-75% you just gotta have a good eye, that is literally the world of thrifting.i’ve been coming here for yearsssssss, and will keep coming back here, i’ve found some of the cutest vintage brand clothes that i wear all the time.I will agree with the guy at self checkout though, he can be an a**, and as of late, the fitting rooms have been closed.
My mom went there just this afternoon and she was standing in-line check out for a pair of Mr. & Mrs. couple mugs and an employee walked up to her asking to look at them but instead took them and walked away because she wanted to buy them since they were only $.99. I’m sorry but since when was it acceptable for an employee to take the customers items for them selves. My mom even went to the manager to complain and he told her that the price on it was wrong so my mom said “fix the price and I will still buy it” but then the manager and employee told her she could not have the cups. I work in retail as well and this is not acceptable at all. This store honestly needs better management and needs to discipline their employees.
Overprice used stuff from stuff they get donated from people, is incredible how the prices are some of them are retail price or higher, they have discount color trick that they advertise that on that day they said certain colors are going to be on discount some days but of course is so obvious that they price those colors higher on That day. All the associates always look grumpy and miserable is like they forcing they to work there.
I would have given it 5 stars but the parking lot is very tight, I enjoy going with my daughter I love how she searches for C ds and were both looking for movies random other the mother thinks its the overall experience I have with my daughter going to this thrift storeI wouldnt give it up for the world I have a great time with her every time we go, I could care less about anything else thats going on at the thrift store, when me and my daughter go is just me and her in the whole storeThe thrill of the hunt
My favorite little thrift store to find goodies. I go their daily in search of treasures. Great selection of electronics, clothing, jewelry, furniture, home goods, books, and miscellaneous items. I love the new color coded discount system. Each day, items ticketed with certain colors can be discounted up to 75 percent off. I frequent both locations in Westbury and Levittown. You just never know what youll find! 😊
As far as thrift stores go its better than most, but not all. The prices seem to have increased substantially since they first appeared in Nassau County. Not everything is a bargain. For example, I found a childs toy in its original packaging that was marked by the manufacturer for $5. But Unique had a price sticker for $5.99 on the box! My advice is to go on days that are 50% off. And shrewdly watch those prices. Sometimes brand new at other stores are less expensive.
I usually love this store. I do find great things. Prices did go up but I will wait for my 50% off coupon on the app. I have found both managers to be nice. What I dont like are the way the kids destroy the toy isles. Parents let them do it while they stare at their phone or shop. Thats wrong Parents!! Some of these items are vintage that people, like myself, collect and it saddens me when I see something from my childhood, but its destroyed...floor is mostly covered in toys. Management needs to put their foot down. This is not a playground. Its called respect.
BEDBUGS!!!!!This place takes donations from all over. They dont wash anything. They just put it out for sale. My mother brought home some clothing from this place and her house then became infested with bed bugs. We knew it came from here because she hadnt bought anything else and we found live bed bugs inside the bag she used when she bought the clothing. She had to pay $2,500 to get rid of the bed bugs. We told the manager and he was trying to say that they wash the clothing before putting it out. That is a lie. I would not recommend buying anything from any of their locations. They have decent prices on things like used CDs, but we found out that bed bugs can hide in books, CDs, clothing and pretty much anything else and they can live for up to three years. They will come out when they sense body heat. We all learned a very expensive lesson. I would caution anybody reading this to stay away from Unique and other thrift stores that put out dirty stuff for sale...unless you are willing to roll the dice and pay tons of money to find out why you have bug bites all over you soon after you shop there.
Unique is a great thrift store. They have a pretty decent size selection and variety of items. On holidays they offer 50% off every thing which leads to incredible deals like $12 dresser sets and $2 clothing. This particular location is a nice size without being too overwhelmingly large. The one thing to remember though, is no returns nor exchanges. So even if you literally just scan something and it was a mistake and you try to remove it at the register before even walking away, they refuse.
I used enjoy coming here. Now its so unorganized. They changed the setup of kids clothing... the boys section is mixed in with girls section. Signs and isle labels are all wrong and misplaced. Items are all mixed in with each other. Also slim pickings... we found only 1 or 2 things when we used to find carts full. Lastly the new self-checkout lanes do not except cash and was very confusing for most.
I just left the store and the cashiers and manager are RUDE. I brought a piece of furniture to the register because there was a sign that said 50% off all furniture. They told me I was wrong, then when I went to get the sign they told me it was from the previous day. I asked if they could please honor it because the item was only $9.99 regular price and the sign was there. I asked for the manager who appeared to be heavily under the influence of drugs or alcohol and he was nasty and refused to honor it even though the sign was there & thats the only reason I drug the piece of furniture to the front if the store. I encountered 2 rude cashiers and a nasty manager and that was my first time ever going to this store. Needless to say I will not go back.
The sales are good so I understand why price so high. Very hard to get coupons when phones are acting up and causes a lot of commotion should give a courtesy coupon for this. Bathrooms are disgusting a Plummer is needed there is dirty water on floor not fair to employees to make them clean it 24-7 if it was by fixed wouldnt be so gross half locks broken or doors dont shut and puddles of water.
Updated review 8/24/20:After it reopened, due to Covid closures, Ive noticed some exorbitant and embarrassing pricing practices. There was a chipped Le Creuset pot for $69, $15 defective Jansport backpack, $6 kids graphic novels, $2 socks. And the athletic youth pants which were always priced between $6-9 are now $20!!! Items are just out of my price range or could be obtained less expensively elsewhere. Its sad....used to be fun shopping here. No longer.2 years ago 🌟 🌟🌟 review:I used to enjoy it more when the prices were better. Now I can get my son clothes on sale from The Childrens Place for cheaper than when Unique has their 50% off sale.I sometimes get away with a shopping bag of Scholastic books, lightly used shoes, a couple of pairs of jeans, and Faberware pots. I am aware of what has value and how much is too much for used items.Im disappointed at some of their pricing which is really off the mark. Ive also seen workers hand their friends fantastic deals like an underbed storage box filled with legos for $15 - 50%= $7.50. While we pay $4 after the discount for a sandwich bag filled with legos.Parking is awful during these popular sales. Customers inconsiderately park cars in areas where there is no parking and makes it very difficult for the rest of us to get out or in. Unique should be concerned with what goes on in the parking lot.
Not surprised that everyone is mentioning the high prices because thats the case.. sometimes you get lucky and you find a good deal but thats only because they dont know what theyre looking for. Everything is checked on eBay and on the computer before they put it out on the floor. Nothing is sold if its not price tag and they wont go back and try something for you right at that moment if you decide to buy something that doesnt have a price tag on it. Theyre really not that friendly and the children run crazy in the store throwing toys all over the floor a hazard and walking.
Great finds at Unique Boutique. Rarely have I ever shopped at a consignment store, but I really love Unique Boutique. They have everything from electronics and home decorations to childrens, mens and wom ens clothing and accessories. My boyfriend goes right to the electronics and I ALWAYS find womens tops and jeans. Their prices are amazingly low, and they weekly celebrate 50% off on Tuesdays, and other special occasions like Presidents Day, 4th of July, and more. Love love love it there. You should check it out, its addicting.
The prices here are insane. $25 for a used dress that cost less than that in store? $20 for used tshirts? $10 for used books? You are making this money off of charity that is supposed to help the less fortunate and we cannot even afford this. And now there are self checkouts to avoid paying employees. This is corrupt.
So I came here after not coming for a few years. Prices are extremely high for second hand stuff and 85% percent of the stuff having missing parts or broken. Store is a disgusting mess and electronics are not checked before putting high prices for non working junk. They make small bags with broken toys mark it up to 4 bucks! They dont check nothing. Thirft stores are for people that cant afford to buy stuff from retail stores but these people are selfish to sell items at high price for profit.
This place is unique insomuch as to be the worst customer experience Ive ever had. The mgr. Abdul, I have been told is a carryover from the old liquidator store that in my opinion should have bit the dusk along with the old store. There were a line of hand trucks bundled together on the sales floor besides other merchandise instead of in the back, that for someone who just happen to be looking for a dolly would have easily have assumed they were for sale. Not a problem, but that condescending attitude showed he has no customer service experience, not wanting to be bothered, disdain for men, blacks, or all of the above, after the clerk summoned him for a price. About a minute later, just as the clerk was about ring up a vase for $7.99, how he assumed that that was not the price though it was clearly labeled, and before the clerk entered it as such, shows he remember it was item that he had overlooked or intended to get to at some point, but either way, It was clearly embarrassing and that I was not going to get it for the price shown. But again it was his attitude and the way he went about it that prompt me to leave a basket full of about 30 assorted books, glasses and other vases along with a camara pod there at the counter, infuriating enough no doubt to post this, seeing that I have never posted before and now will shop elsewhere. I drove 20 miles because someone at another thrift store while shopping told me about the place. even asking for corporate office he made a very humiliating experience. I chose instead to write this post bc I felt it would garner more leverage instead of contacting corporate
This place is bigger than the one in Levittown. It is also a bit more disorganized. The toy section is a bit of a mess. However, there are finds to be had. Especially in the toy, electronics and appliances sections. Prices on apparel seem higher than the other locations. This location tends to have more higher end stuff.
This place used be awesome but now the prices on men’s shoes are crazy very unreasonable.Specific instances men shoes anything Nike or Jordan are over 50 dollars they have a pair of used nikes for 99 dollars when you can buy the same pair brand new in box for less! Be very careful buying Jordan’s there a lot of fakes Jordan’s in circulation that are very close to the real thing.I hope they return to normal prices like tri-county unique in Levittown they have very fair prices!I do have to say the female workers are very nice and helpful!
The “3 items a time” dressing room limit is more of a suggestion rather then a rule. It’s not enforced as people bring in shopping carts worth of clothes at a time. It’s annoying!!!!!!50% off on holidays but be warned, its insanely busy and parking can be difficult to find. Its also basically a huge mess so good luck! But if you can find a good deal its worth it.
This place is usuallyhit or miss.. Everyones trash is another persons treasure. I bought these great boots today. The prices are decent and they have special sale days if ur a vip (free membership-just download the app) usually anywhere from 25-50% off your purchase. There is something for everyone! You cant go wrong!
1 stars for the space and the amount of clothes BUT prices are not good! Somethings are new and I agree charging the actual cost but for used stuff they cant! also is a individual tax for each piece extra a total tax. Extra the people that work there are standing in the aisle talking and talking dont even move seeing you there. Save time and money and go to other place.
I love this place, every time I go I make a list of things that I really need and 90% of the time I come out of the store with the items listed, but not only cheaper than a regular store, the items are in good shape and many times eve as new as a store bought. I recomended it 100%
If it werent for all of the unsupervised, disrespectful kids throwing toys all over and playing soccer in the place, even kicking the ball as hard as they could against the walls, furniture and other customers, it would be a much more fun place to shop. The stars are for the variety and prices on their merchandise. But someone needs to start corralling the unruly offspring!
As everyone here is pointing out the prices here have become astronomical in thrift sense AND in regular shopping sense!! They sometimes charge MORE than a new item from a regular shop would be. The help are surly and unreasonable the tagging is ludicrous, same item different prices all from one set?? Really? Nope Back to the family stores goodwill go Salvation Army. Much cleaner and better deals.
The prices have gone up, but i always get a few cool things. Clothing is out of control pricey. dont get it twisted, this is not a non-profit place. unique is for profit, they buy pallets of goods from charitable organizations for pennies on the pound. 5 % tops gets donated. just do a search for where does unique thrift get there merchandise and youll see. so expect the prices to keep going up, it is not your traditional thrift store... oh and one more thing, NEVER donate to them, that money goes straight into the pocket
I go to this store almost every week since the last 6 months. Suddenly the prices had double and even on the days that you get the 25 % off or 50% off you end up paying the same price you might pay at Walmart or Target. I dont know what happened, but I think the got a little greedy in taking the money of the poor people. I just hope that the Veterans are getting what they deserved in the money that they make from us.
This place is a dream if you have a good pair of eyes. Stuffed animals, bags, games, dvds, vhs tapes, clothes and all assorted goods are here.Think of it as a giant garage sale. You may see what you like and take what you can get. Just be careful, you cant exchange or return anything.
Variety is ok, but this place makes me wanna be a racist! Customer service is the worst, you got these Spanish women walking around with a sour puss all day, and God forbid you try to resolve an issue! They will speak Spanish amongst themselves about you while youre facing them! Oh, and they speak perfect English when they need to, so effing rude!
This place is completely overpriced I wish I had taken a picture they had an empty ragu tomato sauce jar for sale that was used for $0.99this is a jar that we throw away in our recycle bin.the prices that they have for used pots dishes pans glasseseven furniture you can buy at a store brand new theyre insane do not waste your time going there youre better off going to a garage sale Craigslist let-go anything--but that place I think they forgot their second hand thrift shop honestly I was forced to put the one-star because you cant give it no stars this is two thumbs down
Unique used to be a great store. However, the prices now are ridiculous. I am a thrift shopper countrywide and also purchase upscale items directly from the makers. I believe the individuals who are pricing items at Unique are either lazy or not suited to the position. Example: An obviously FAKE Louis Vuitton bag was absurdly priced at $85! The bags stitches were really awful and the zipper was plastic not metal! I spoke with the pricing employee and told her that the internet provided much information on how to spot a fake LV! She was pleasant but didnt appear to be going to the internet to do any research in the future. In many instances, items were priced at almost the same price as could be bought brand new!!! As a charitable organization, it is unacceptable that theyd price their items as high as they do…people who go to thrift shops are there to save money. If the item can be bought brand new at the stores for a few dollars more, why should they buy it at Unique? On the positive side, every now and then, you may find something worth the price; like, a good coat or shoes or vintage something. In summary, I continue to go to Unique just to find that UNUSUAL piece. Hope this review helps a shopper in knowing that to expect when going to UNIQUE.
When you come to the store they do racial profile you look at you follow you .we were trying to help a customer with the discount using a rewards card . Was purchasing to teddy bear for her sick child !!! two white managers were so rude and even the skinny Pakistani guy was so rude left the poor customer tell me something alone and said goodbye in front of her face . This customer that was Miss treated it was an older customer around her 60 . Don’t shop in this disgusting place with a very low customer service !!!
I used to love shopping at this thrift store chain. priced used to be great but now just about eveything is being raised so high in price its just not worth buying used. Looks like they ae pricing there items on par with popular online selling sites such as Ebay. It seams they forgot there are a thrift store. If prices keep going up im sure there will be less and less that shop here
Typical thrift store with a large selection, but the prices are ridiculous. some of the items i found there could be bought new for less. Either the staff isnt trained on pricing well, or management is getting greedy. Either way, i dont recommend this place if your looking for a bargain.
They have a real bad habit of taking electronics that they should not be taking. Since the summer of 2014, Ive called Altice / Optimums Corporate Security department twice. The thrift store was selling equipment that clearly had Property of Optimum labels on their undersides. In 2014, I called Optimum because they had whole stacks of the Jerrold Instrument boxes that were property of Cablevision. In the first week of June, 2017 I called Optimum because they had several of the new Arris cable modems that should have been returned to the customer service center in Bethpage.

2022-08-16I like making short films as a hobby and needed to come up with a cowboy outfit that included boots, a shirt, a hat and a coat. Wasnt sure about this place but gave it a shot and man, was it great. Its huge! They had cowboy boots, a nice selection of hats, a ton of coats. Found pretty much everything I was looking for. That, plus a big plastic car for my daughter all for less than $40 bucks.Nicely done, MyUnique Thrift. Ill definitely come back for future wardrobe needs.

2022-08-18I go here often and almost always wind up buying something. They change the color discounts (25,50,75% off) every few days. You can sign up for texts or emails about these discounts. You’ll find the best deals in the 1-2 days after they change the sale colors. The clothing quality is way better here than the one in Levittown. There is a lot of Madewell, Loft, Banana Republic, etc here, when the Levittown is 90% Old Navy, Forever 21, and Shein.Prices are on par with similar large thrift stores (Savers, Island Thrift). More expensive than a church or community thrift store, but a much bigger selection. They seem to price things based on category and condition, rather than brand. Example: a casual dress from Target will be priced the same as a casual dress from J Crew. If you can identify high quality items, it’s a great place to hunt for deals.Adding a picture of my favorite MyUnique Westbury find: a vintage Coach purse from the early 1970s

2022-07-26I came here today to this location thinking I would find some low priced items. Just as the other location their prices went up so high the prices now are more compared to a Walmart Target JCPenneys shirt or paints brand new items. I understand were living in a hard time right now but to raise your prices so high you can buy new at the same price is not practical. Going to a thrift store is supposed to be a bargain... I feel bad for the people who come now and think that was your usual prices or they are getting a good deal , they used to be great..

2022-05-22I like the quality of the stuff but the staff sucks I come from Rhode island and when theres an item without a tag instead of giving me a new price they expect me to come back the next day to get it. I live hundreds of miles away I just want to buy a dress I cannot come back later.

2022-07-05Prices went up so much. Not the same they have a different system to make you think you will have a good discount by the color of the tag but mostly beat up stuff.

2022-08-08Luv it...lots of gems and stuff....they use a 3 tier color system..each color represents a percentage off..for example yellow 75 percent off blue 50 percent off green 25 percent off every week they change the colors the percentage doesnt have fun

2021-10-18If you’re going for men’s clothes, don’t. This used to be my go to store but everything has gotten crazy expensive here over the past year. You might still find some cool books, lamps and stuff like that if you look

2018-10-25Excellent prices, super selection, a favorite stop for our family of five young children! The store organizes its merchandise in a helpful way, making it easy to find what you need and offers ample dedicated parking. If you download their VIP app, you will be able to benefit from 25-50% on frequent discount days. They even sell used Wii games!
