First I got the run around with the address, I parked my personal car and took an Uber from my home.It seems that the old building used is only used now to store cars or something. Once there there is another sign saying that its across the street. Road is more like it.Got into an argument with one of the drones.(horrible service they dont want yo be there)
The most well connected airport car rental among NY airport ones. You can get to the rental with a combination of A train and the JFK airport train. The rental process here is fast and hassle free. The gentleman at the counter was extremely polite and helped us transfer our booking from one person to another without any complaints (even though he mentioned it might not be possible given our scheme of booking). Overall we had a very pleasant experience renting out from this location.
On this rental I had issues with the desk manager at the Scranton airport location. Attempted to upgrade to an AWD Vehicle, initially the young lady at the counter was willing to help out. However, the Manager came up and stated they did not have any AWD or 4 wheel drive vehicles. I informed him that there were at least 5 vehicles that fit the request on there lot. I even told him what location numbers the vehicles were in but to no avail. When I called customer service, they did have AWD Vehicles available to reserve in their system. Never had this type of situation with National. The sad part is I have rented 300 days in the past few years with them.
I rent cars from National because of the service. This time the service was quite disappointing. The gentleman that help me when I picked up the vehicle was very pleasant. The problem is the vehicle had a fuel leak and the car had a strong gas odor. I called and informed customer service, but I thought it was a spill. I called on the second day of having the car when I realized that gas was leaking when I was not driving it. I was told to not return the vehicle because it was unsafe to drive and roadside assistance will send a tow. Seven hours and a half later the tow truck came. I did not receive a call from the location to discuss the payment and was told no manager was on duty, call back by 7am the next day. I know this is unacceptable. I will be canceling my future reservation and will not patronize this establishment any longer. Consumer beware!!
Outstanding service, transparency, up front information about my entire reservation, an awesome 2021 Chevrolet Malibu LT to drive. Special shout out to reservation agent by the name of Mercy, who made us feel respected and answered every single question and concern that we had during this transaction for the car rental. Especially at this location across from the LaGuardia airport in Queens New York, it is so refreshing on a personal and business level to see such amazing professionals working ensure customer service and satisfaction. Mercy and all her staff during our pickup of the Chevrolet on September 25th 2021 was also exemplary and helped us with a few odds and ends about the vehicle which we were not aware of since we both drive Lincolns.
Unbelievable experience with this branch this past weekend. The agent pulled the car around (I was using earned free credits on a luxury rental) and forgot to hand me the key. Drove 1.5 hours away from airport and it wasn’t until I stopped that I realized the key was missing. Roadside sent us to another branch that didn’t have any available cars, so we ended up having to book ubers and meet a locksmith hours later. There was ZERO communication from the branch that a key had been found after we had driven off. ZERO communication between branches to see if there were cars available before sending me all over creation in an Uber. National failed to cancel the scheduled tow when they scheduled the locksmith. Thank goodness I wasn’t there when the tow truck showed so they didn’t tow it. I was in New York for a wedding and due to this 7 hours of hell I was unable to complete bridesmaid errands that I promised the bride I would complete.Cherry on top - I was charged an extra day that wasn’t on my initial contract. I have emailed the manager of this location, I have been on the phone with national escalation and they have tried contacting the manager as well with no response yet.I am an Executive Emerald club member, I have used National for 70 rentals this year and even more in 2020 when no one was traveling. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had to date. I am still waiting on communication from the manager on reimbursing me for my ubers I had to take. People make mistakes, I’m not even mad at the guy for accidentally forgetting to hand me the key but my god, if I can’t even get a call back with my executive status, I can’t imagine the hell that infrequent renters encounter when dealing with this branch.
I am disappointed to say National missed a real opportunity to show their care and understanding for a valuable customer. My sister travels two to three times a week and is an Emerald Club member. This past weekend, she used two of her hard earned free days to rent a luxury car from JFK for she and I to use for our cousin’s wedding. We were responsible for running multiple errands and purchase needed items, as well as transporting the wedding party. The agent who brought the car around from the lot never gave us the key. As the car was an electric vehicle, we were able to drive it from JFK to Rivershead (an hour and 45 minutes away) before we realized the key wasn’t in the car. We discovered it when we made our first stop to run errands. As a result, we spent almost 7 hours trying to rectify the situation, including being told by a National customer service rep to uber to the next closest branch 45 minutes away to pick up a new car, arriving to be told they didn’t HAVE any, then Ubering to our original vehicle to wait in a parking lot for a locksmith to arrive and make a new key, on a Saturday. The National service rep even mentioned “this happens a lot (drivers leaving without the keys). Isn’t this a design flaw?? While this all was handled by the representatives we interacted with with kindness and a helpful attitude (hence the two stars) the fact still remained that the rep from JFK never reached out to us to say he still had the key, and we lost almost an entire day. This caused unwarranted stress and strife for not only us, but those depending on us.The true issue is that my sister is not being compensated for this issue. Not only is National not returning her hard earned free days, but they charged her for an extra day that was no where in the original agreement. They also have not covered the expenses that came from us having to Uber back and forth to a branch they should not have even sent us to in the first place as it had zero vehicles.If nothing else, I hope this review alerts individuals to always make sure you have the key in hand, even if the car is running and has an electric fob.
I am proud to be a customer and an Emerald Club member of National Car Rental. The service I have received is truly a sign of how National feels about their customers. The navigation through the website makes sense. There isnt any unnecessary language or data. Explanations are precise and accurate. The ability to pass the counter and go directly to a car does save time and gets you on your way. Please continue this level of consistency as it has become a hallmark of National.
Rented car at JFK for a week. The pick up process was smooth and efficient. An employee in the lot helped direct me to the Emerald lane with a friendly and helpful tone. The car was clean and seemed to be well maintained. I needed to extend the rental period for an extra day and that process was also superbly simple - just one email and it was done. Thanks for everything!
I reserved a full size car a week before. I arrived at the counter 2 hours prior to my scheduled time. I was told that a full size car was not available. He said I was upgraded to a small SUV. The SUV I was given was not small, it was tiny. I returned to the counter and told the rep that it would not hold the luggage or people of a full size car. He said that was all that was available other than compact cars. There were other cars in the lot. He said he had 40 reservations for that night and only 25 cars. After several minutes he said a small SUV had just been cleaned and was larger than the last SUV. I went to the lot and the car was dirty. There had to be 6 different suction cup marks on the windshield with only half a tank. I didn’t have the time wait or argue with this rep. I had rented 30 times last year from this facility. Didn’t have an issue or given such a “sucks to be you attitude” before.

I live in NY and an executive member at National, averaging around 1 rental a month, 1 week at a time. I rent from the JFK location. I feel compelled to write a review for my most recent rental (RA# 456137838) because a few things happened that has never happened before and left me considering a change in car rental companies.First off, at National, you choose a car and drive to the booth to check out. I always receive a print out, outlining the terms of my rental, however this particular time, the gentleman that was at the booth told me that they do NOT give print outs to customers, a blatant lie! I always get a print out. When I asked how long this policy change has been happening, he told me that it has been a couple of months since this change has been made, another lie! National, I dont appreciate being lied to just cause you have a incompetent, lazy employee that is unwilling to press a button to print out the terms of conditions for a customer.The other thing that happened was, after 2 days upon returning my vehicle, I get an email saying that there was damage to the car. When I returned my car, the person checked it out and told me that I was good to go. He did not mention that there was damage to the car, nor was I aware of any damage to the car. These things need AND should be caught upon returning the car and receiving an email days after makes me feel like Im being scammed and liable for damage caused by somebody else, like an employee.Ive been a very loyal customer and National has generally always taken care of me, but this last time has left a bad taste in my mouth. Potential renters, be aware as National Car Rental JFK is not what it used to be and you might be left to pay for damage not cause by you.
Since I started renting from nationals, I have received nothing but good service. Everyone that I have encountered carried professionalism. Jesse was fantastic. He assisted my boyfriend and I with my first rental at nationals. He helped me feel comfortable with my decision and made sure i had every information and resources. It definitely was busy that day, but he was able to multitask well. He does his job well.
The vehicle I had rented was not available, I was told either to take a walk or wait for a return to come in. My reservation was put in over two weeks ago, and as an Executive Elite member I was treated very poorly with the branch at both times, when returning a vehicle here a week prior and when renting a vehicle here this week. I have put in a call with customer service to reach out to corporate to discuss this further as the individual there did seem to have an I dont care, what you reserved attitude. The one vehicle that was remotely close the car class I had booked was given to a buddy of one of the employees who had booked a full size. I had reserved a Premium SUV, and was given a vehicle too small to fit my luggage in, and as a result half of my party had to take an uber home which costed me $128. Reckless behavior as such from this location, (JFK) disgusts me as the National Rent a Car brand itself has been great experience for me overall, with the exception of this branch and they really are not remotely as busy as some of the other airports I have been to and rented from.
So I rented a month in advance to make sure I had the SUV I wanted. Paid over 1000 dollars. I get there and nothing is available so I was told, even though there were two SUVs that I couldnt have. Total BS. The staff member that took care of me was very nice though if it wasnt for him, you would have gotten 0 stars. I know it wasnt his fault but I was very disappointed. We actually drove over 1800 miles through snow and DEC/JAN Northeast weather. We had to settle for what they gave us. DISAPPOINTED!!!!
Ive rented from this location several times and National truly exceeds expectations. The managers always check in via email so I can contact them directly if I need anything, and were very gracious when I requested extra time on a rental. The staff at the vehicle return are exceptional, I really appreciate how they welcome me back and always seem to have upbeat and friendly attitudes even on cold and rainy nights.Sometimes theres no one sitting at the National desk (you may have to wait for the Alamo staff to help you), its best to sign up for the Emerald club so you can skip the counter and get rewards. I love having the freedom to choose my own vehicle from the Emerald Aisle and get on the road in minutes.
I have been a business travel renter from the JFK location for over 9 years. Generally being an Emerald or Executive member has made the checkout experience fairly painless. The availability of vehicles has been good.However in the last 12 months the return of vehicle process has led me to the conclusion that other companies need to be explored. Twice in the last 12 months. I have been accused of returning a damaged car. No damage was visible but the agent insisted there was. The first incident the agent was extremely rude about the accusation and after considerable correspondence the claim was removed.On 7/1/20 a similar incident occurred. I returned a vehicle to JFK. Once again an accusation of vehicle damage was made. Much more politely than the first. The agent claimed a “crease” on the driver’s side door panel. I took pictures and he filed an incident report. I now have to go through a laborious process again to remove this claim. It is now my belief that the employees are being instructed to make these false claims by management.A checkout there is no formal damage inspection form on process. And as a long time renter for business if I had a legitimate accident while renting the vehicle I would certainly report it.Convenience the National once only offered is now being offered by their competitors. I will consider using them at other facilities outside of NYC but cautiously.
How is it possible that National closes at 11pm on a weekday…AT JFK AIRPORT!?!? With MANY international flights arriving later than that.Had my reservation set for 11:30pm, as soon as I got to the car rental location I came to realize that there was NOBODY at National.Thank God AVIS was there to save me, they actually have the common sense to close their location at such a big international airport like JFK later than 11pm. This location is absolutely pathetic.Taking my 4 year straight EXECUTIVE status and future business to AVIS.I thought National had better practices than these.
Couldnt find the entrance. Seems like the entrance is from inside the airport to the location. Didnt get much directions on where to go since it was my first time there. Not much cars on the lot to choose from but the idea of walking in and picking your own car was nice. No line, no waiting was great.
First impressions during initial checkout could’ve been better but to be fair, they made up for it when I returned after a series of issues with the vehicle. Brian and Vidal provided exceptional customer service and practical guidance, yet the manager and other employees can learn from their example. TBD if I continue booking with Enterprise as usual or consider more bookings with National.
National is the best car rental place by far. You can pick your own car and you don’t even have to stop at the counter. They always have a great variety of cars and SUVs to choose from. This trip, I choose a brand new Jeep Compass with under 100 miles on it. The customer service is excellent too. I’ll never use another rental place again.
I’m a weekly renter and have been totally satisfied with their service. The 2 issues that I had were immediately addressed and corrected in a professional manner. The staff is helpful and courteous, especially when returning the car. Special thanks to Jovel, who is usually the attendant at returns. He’s such a pleasure to work and always ask how was the rental experience. Aside from the great customer service, I love their selection of cars too!! Keep up the good work...
Great efficiency. Courteous staff. Clean cars. Easy access. Easy check in and check out. Easy walk from transport area. Easy to find with airport signage. Thankful for this place. Make reservations ahead of time for smooth service. No harassment about declining their insurance. Prices were much higher this year but so was everyone s prices.
My first time at JFK...the car rentals are so difficult to get to, but when I got there, and found National Car Rental, I was treated very well. They offered me a bottle of water for my parched throat which I was very grateful for after my day of work and then travel. The attendants were both very nice and attentive. The gentleman who waited on me was very professional and offered me a free upgrade. I had signed up as an Emerald member, and even though it was the first time I had rented from them, I was upgraded for free. The lot attendant who showed me to the cars was very, very pleasant. I got to choose my vehicle, which was new to me and awesome. I will definitely rent from them again upon my next visit!
Nice selection of vehicles in Emerald Aisle when I arrived this time - thats not always the case at this location but seems to be improving since the site was renovated. A year or so ago, I had nothing more than a selection of minivans available on 3 separate visits. The last few rentals were all nice selections, including a fully loaded Buick Enclave this time around for the price of a mid size car. Employees at this site are consistently helpful and courteous. Overall, there are very few negatives about the National experience, with maybe the exception of fees and taxes which are out of their control. I had a $165 rental that incurred $105 worth of taxes and fees - that is one hell of a ratio.
I am an Emerald Club member and I am extremely satisfied with the level of service and the ease of rental procedure I experience with National. My last rental at JFK airport on 01/17/18, was no exception. I chose a Chevrolet Malibu from the Emerald Aisle this time. Very happy with the choice... brand new car very easy to drive. I did have one issue with the driver side mirror cover flying off on a freeway for some reason, but was assured by the helpful staff that I would not be charged. Looking forward to my next rental!
I have rented car from several different car rental companies, and National has been the best experience I have ever had. Everyone from the Front Desk attendant to the gentleman that escorted me to the rental car to the check-out and return attendants were extremely friendly and provided exceptional customer service. I will definitely use National as the main company I rent from now on.
It was a really very nice to deal with the representatives, who were professional and courteous, with amazing service!the only disappointment was that when I was leaving the lot, and being that Im an emerald club member I didnt have to go in the office, I was told by the representative that in order for me to add an additional Driver, he also needs to be an emerald club member, so with no other choice we had to delay our trip even more than it was already, not a pleasant situation when everyou minute counts. but worst of all was when I was later showed by my friend on your very own website that its not true!!!! the additional Driver does not need to be an emerald club member! but otherwise, it was really a great and smooth:)
I rented a luxury car for a thirteen day rental and paid for two weeks of SAT radio service. The problem was the BMW X3 was not equipped with the SAT radio option from BMW. The second issue is I was charged almost $50 on my credit card bill for something I couldn’t use. At this point your saying, well did you say anything to National Car Rental? Yes I called National on the second day I had the car and explained that, no the car wasn’t broken. It wasn’t equipped with that feature. I also called National Car Rental the day I returned the car as well as explaining the situation to the return person. I have rented from National several times and I had hoped for better customer service for a Emerald Club member. At this point my rental experience only rated a one star ⭐️ due to being over billed.
Car was very clean. Check in time was less than 10minutes. I forgot my wallet containing cash, credit cards and my drivers license. Came back after 3 hours and my wallet was handed to me with the content complete. The complete package of Alamo is honesty with integrity. I will surely recommend Alamo for car rentals and let will come back again. Alamo for life!
This place has proven to be one of the best National Rental Car Centers that I have been to in the last 22 years. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They were very thoughtful to have free bottled water available in the lobby. I was very surprised. So helpful that it did not upset me a bit when the gas was only a quarter when I took the car from the emerald aisle. Kudos to the leadership at this center!
National Car Rental service is always excellent. My only complaint about this location is really not their fault - JFK is just busy! Really, everything else was great. I got a great car off the isle, and even though I had reserved a luxury car (free days), she changed the reservation to intermediate since I chose from the isle.
My rental experience could not have been better. When I arrived, I was directed to the Emerald Aisle by a friendly and helpful employee. A wide selection of vehicles was available, and though I had reserved a mid-sized vehicle, and was expecting something small, I ended up with a great Ford Flex, which was clean and pretty new. Great car. The lady in the checkout booth was also very friendly, as was the crew when I returned the car. I recommend National wholeheartedly. After reading reviews for many other rental agencies at JFK, I would not consider anyone else. Make sure to sign up for the Emerald club first to get access to the car without waiting in any line--just go straight to the Emerald Aisle cars. No cost, and I think you can sign up before renting, i.e. nothing special required like a certain number of rentals.
This company does not social distance what so ever. In NY the attendant Josh unsafe getting in my face trying to have me sign stuff that I should have signed indoors while there was a protective barrier in place. Rude customer service. Website says put your credit card information in to safe time and social distance. Then when you get in they want it all again. It does absolutely nothing to put it in ahead of time. They are not clean. No hand sanitizer anywhere.
Easiest car rental process - walked into the executive aisle - pick an amazing Jeep Wrangler and hit the road for a day and half. When dropping off the car, the person who checked me out was very nice and quick. The car was clean and in great condition. National rocks!!
This was my first time using the emerald service at national car and it was an easy and quick process. I do not know how i was not aware of his before. I got my car, the gentleman at the gate realized it was my first time and provided me assistance. I would recommend and use it again.
Great customer service, magnificent greetings from the staff. Im glad I chose to become a Emerald member. Feels good to pick any vehicle for the same price. Ive had the same experience at Fort Lauderdale Airport 3 yrs ago and it was great. I would recommend National Car Rentals anytime. Thanks for your service and hospitality.
Impeccable service. I had rented a full size as I needed something with a large trunk space and comfortable seats. Even though it was 1am, the store folk walked me through many cars and I settled on an impala. Then I noticed a Cadillac XTS which was the same size, and the store manager courteously helped me upgrade to it with a nominal fee. I loved the car and enjoyed my time with it.Ive rented with multiple agencies in multiple destinations, and Ive always been happy with nationals customer service, even when negotiating upgrades. But I felt this particular interaction stood out because of the genuine interest by the agents to help me into a car I liked at a price point I was willing to pay, without fleecing me. This also at 1am.
Upon check in at National, I attempted to take a large SUV and someone else was approaching same vehicle from the other side in which I did not see. An employee in the lot observed and offered me another vehicle that was similar parked a few aisles over.Also on return, I ran into a lot of traffic in NYC, the employee checking me in offered to load the car back with our luggage and drove us directly to the terminal. We would have missed our flight had they not offered that service. I am grateful they were willing to assist. Great customer service!
We picked up a minivan which was reserved two months in advance. Unfortunately the brakes on the vehicle were shot. It appears they just clean the cars and get them back on the road as soon as possible. If they do a vehicle check, this one was clearly missed. Also my reserved rate went up by 400 dollars (I only found out because my cc company sent me an email), it was finally rectified but if you dont check and ask, you may have an issue. Doesnt make sense how the rate would change if you have a reservation. ... who needs that headache. Otherwise being an emerald club member is nice because you can choose your own vehicle. No one answers the phone at the JFK location after 10pm despite it being a 24 hour operation.
I had rented using my emerald card membership. We showed up, they directed us to the line of card, keys were waiting and we were off! Beautiful car, rode great, no hassle at all! Brought it back and the employee who checked the car back in was super helpful! Very happy with my service!
This is my first time renting with National and it won’t be my last. Tina, assisted me with the check out process and I have to say she was AMAZING! Her customer service was over the top, she greeted us with a smile, she was patient, and should be noted!! Just remember folks, when the bar is down and won’t go up it means stop at the booth even if it’s late in the evening STOP at the booth. The laughter behind that bar 😂😂😂😂😂 Thank you again Tina. Best customer service !!!
Getting to the rental at this location for the first time was not too difficult. Selected a car and drove to the check out only to find the car was a recall. Strange...All in all the service was courteous and the second selection of car was in great shape. All in all my experiences with National have been great.Havent used another rental agency since I joined them
Always a top notch company; this location is no exception, except that is may be one of the best I for quit in out, courteous great car selection and they are nice and clean. One of the reasons we have corporate account with National. We can beat the prices by few dollars if we shop, but never the service, convenience and the ease of dealing with them, including their billing department.
National car rental is great ur in and out in no time. cars work great and are clean. the only problem with this LOCATION was the shuttle drive to the airport terminal. he was rude and dropped us off on the street by a bridge then we had to walk with all our bags to get to terminal c & d, ridiculous we should of been taken right to departures at our terminals, i call National and was compensated which was very nice of them but still doesnt excuse the driver behavior.
This experience is all new to me. Being a member of a select club, Emerald, where you are treated like a VIP.At first, I was hesitant. I had to be convinced that I could really choose any car from the lot.The service was excellent. Who could ask for anything more?Besides, I saved $100 compared to Kayak and Priceline.I highly recommend joining Emerald club. That is the way to go.
It was very smooth. Staff was very nice and at no cost upgraded our car when they saw our struggle trying to fit the luggage into the trunk. When we drove to the gate to check out, the lady at the booth was a 20 minute bad experience, charged us wrong and would not call a manager. Eventually he walked by because we created a long line and the issue was resolved.
I’d like to thank the team at National Car rental from JFK airport. The car was perfect all week not a single issue however they really earned five stars when they found my debit card and connected the dots quickly and even posted it back to my home in England !!! Other than the manager who was nice enough to give me a free upgrade because they had limited vehicles available the rest of the support staff are useless, rude and very unprofessional. They need a lesson in customer care!! The agent at the outside counter literally closed the door in my face when I asked a simple question if there are any more vehicles coming out because all they had were minivans and pick-up trucks available!!
This location is AWESOME!!!! Thanks to me receiving EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM DARROLD!! I had reserved & paid for a midsize car online however when I got there all they had was compact cars left in which the manager Josh told me to grab one of those. I asked if it was a midsize and he didn’t confirm he just replied that’s all they had when I could see there was other cars in the lot. I didn’t want to make a big deal about it so I got in the car and proceeded to the exit. The car was uncomfortable for me so just out of curiosity as I was checking out, I asked Darrold what size car it was and he confirmed compact. I explained I had paid for midsize and honestly I didn’t want any sort of refund just a car that I’d be comfortable in. Without hesitation, he told me with a smile to go grab whatever car I’d be comfortable in on him. I got a Kia Solara and was soooooo happy!!! Thank you so much Darrold for turning this situation around and keeping a loyal customer I’ll definitely be back !!
JFK was a nice airport but car rental center being a train stop away was an unpleasant surprise. The car was okay but I accidentally left some items in the car and after going through two different recovery processes nothing was done or found. Very disappointed in this national since other ones have held items or mailed them to me.
Walked in and the staff embraced me with nothing but smiles. The wonderful lady at the desk reminded me that I was an emerald club member and that I can choose from a variety of vehicles at the emerald section. Talk about VARIETY. I didnt know what to choose the selection was so extensive. Grabbed a Cadillac CTS and drove to the exit gate. I asked for an EZ pass and I was on my way to a fantastic weekend with my children. That process literally took 7 minutes. I applaud the level of service at this branch. It is rare to see in this day an age. All the staff here were courteous and very professional and always smiling. That tells you they are getting treated right. National keep up the good work !!!!!!!
National at JFK has beaten my high expectations that Nationat is generally known for. Everything is done in a timely fashion with no extra wait, the staff were very friendly, professional and eager to help. Whenever any was needed throughout my rental I was provided with the managers emails and got a promptly response.Tony was specially very helpful and went beyond the call of duty in assisting my needs.My overall experience was outstanding.
The service was excellent. One of the managers I think his name was Steve, he helped me pick out a car on the Emerald Executive side, because I wasnt happy with the choices on the Emerald side. Check out was fast and sufficient. The return was a breeze. The only downside was the process of being dropped off to pick up the car. I wasnt flying in, but picking up the car at the airport, so my husband had to drive me there. There wasnt clear directions on how or if you can drive a passenger car into the lot, you pretty much have to drop your person off in the driveway. It was both awkward and unsafe. If there was more direction or someone there to tell direct you it would flow better, and we were not the only ones experiencing this. Otherwise everything was great!!
I have been renting from this location for business travel for the past year. The employees are friendly and personable. Jovel in particular is a great asset to National Car rental.In a business where there is so much competition, the employees here make a difference. I would recommend renting from this location whenever possible.
Excellent Service at the JFK airport Rental Car Stop. The representative named - Russell was so friendly. We had booked 2 mid size cars @ JFK and to be returned @ Dayton Ohio Airport. We got one Rav4 which was decent enough, but my friend had good amount of luggage and needed a little bigger car. Russell was quick to address the situation and got us a big Chevy SUV. He helped us set-up the 2 car seats as well. My car was not cleaned properly inside, but i can ignore it for the service i got @ JFK.It feels great to be Emerald Club member. Thanks National!
Best service, a large variety of cars in excellent condition, extremely dependable connectivity to the airport.The moment you come out of the airport, a pickup or drop service is available if the rental agency is not in proximity.Pickup and drop off location need not be same, but this calls for planning.Although the agency offers roadside support in case of any problem, absolutely no trouble was experienced with the vehicles.However, two minor issues are there. There was no built-in navigation in many vehicles.On top of that, you need eliminating the toll roads which demand RFID payments.But this is not an absolute problem as payment can be made to the agency later on, after knowing the charge.
Renting from National Car Rental at JFK is always a pleasure. The people are pleasant and, with Emerald Aisle Service, the car selections is always great. Drop-off at the airport is quick and easy, and the attendants are courteous and very helpful. We have come to know Mercius, the early morning attendant, by name, whose good nature is a pleasant greeting for an early morning trip. The National crew always go above and beyond to assure a great rental experience.
Great experience with renting a car at JFK airport in New York. The great thing about National (especially for local New Yorkers, but really for anyone using the intra-airport transport to get to the rental counter) is that theres no shuttle bus needed. The AirTrain goes directly to the location. Definitely worth signing up for the Emerald Aisle...got to choose my car from among around 20 available vehicles.
Arriving at JFK airport, counter was efficient had my info and was ready to go in matter of minutes. Became a National fan due to seemless one way rental. Picked up at JFK and dropped the car at BOS, had no issues whatsoever. Car could have been a little cleaner but still not bad enough to refuse, it was OK. Staff all helpful and seemed efficient. Will definitely use National in future.
I rented a car initially for three days . I arrived at the National counter in JFK and a very pleasant young man advised me that I could proceed straight to The Emrerald Aisle and select my car. I explained that I wanted to extend the reservation by two days and I asked him or the very best rate that I could get. He was patient and looked around fervently to try to get me the very best rate as requested. He circled all the contractual things in front of me that should be brought to my attention as a renter on the contract , which quickly put me on alert as to what were my responsibilities. I proceeded to the Emerald Aisle and another very pleasant gentleman when asked by me which car should I select , he proceeded to identify the pros and cons of two of the cars with respect to fuel consumption, something that I am not familiar with. I was very pleased with Nationals overall level of service. They are more expensive than some other rental companies but then everything comes depending on the price that you payRenter fromTrinidad and Tobago
I am an Emerald Club member and the main reason is they I am very satisfied with National car rental service.The possibility to pick up your car and drive away is saving a lot of time especially when I rent for work.The car provided are always in good condition and the choice is very broad.i think I will stay with National for a long time.
I booked at National despite higher prices because of the great reviews. I was not disappointed. They did not harrass me trying to sell me tons of extra stuff like most car rental companies do and they were efficient and professional. It was great and Ill happily pay the extra money again!
Emerald aisle has very poor variety of cars. I picked a small SUV car but they forced me to downgrade to a midsize car at the very end of the pick up process because I was under 25 although I paid the additional underage fee and according to terms I could definitely rent a SUV. I would not recommend this location
Every thing about renting from National from online booking as an Emerald Member to picking up at JFK and returning at LGA was a breeze. The vehicle was as good as brand new, clean, clean smelling and in excellent working order! Theres no where else I would rent from first!
I recently rented with National through their Emerald Club program. The entire process from renting the car, bypassing the counter at JFK, picking what car I want in the Emerald Aisle, and returning the car at LGA was absolutely seamless! I cannot say enough how much I appreciate the process and the excellent customer service!
Very disappointing. Emerald car reeked of smoke when they are supposed to be smoke-free. I should have been suspicious when the windows were rolled down. They should have never released a car in that condition. We didnt realize how strong it was til we drove off. Too late for an appointment to turn around. Caused allergic reaction in two passengers. Had to exchange at Enterprise later. Nationwide made it right, financially, which I appreciate.
Rented before but never really understood the emerald aisle, i am a emerald club member and have a reservation coming up at the end of the month. i would like to know as a emerald club member if i book full size vehicle can i grab any vehicle from the executive line also or just the regular aisle? like if i would like to grab a mustang or challenger that is on the executive aisle can i?
The pick up was easy. The car was spotless. The drop off at JFK.... not so much. I dropped the car off on 7/10 around 5:00 and the drop off lot was packed with cars which made it rather difficult to negotiate into the lot to drop the car off. While the parking attendants were very busy they still kept their cool and were very nice.
Great rental service as Ive used them for years. My only issue is that they dont send notifications about free days being expired as I accumulated a ton of free days and just learned that they expire at the end of the year. They (National) need to communicate better with their customers.
Im a member of the Emerald Club so expected to go directly from baggage claim to the car lot but I received a notice that I had to go to the rental counter to get my car because I had a second driver listed on the car. I had already provided all the information for the 2nd driver and I have had 2nd drivers in the past and didnt have to go to the rental counter. I thought maybe something was different at JFK so I waited in line at the rental counter for thirty minutes before I was told I didnt need to wait in line, I should have gone directly to the lot since Im a member of the Emerald Club. Between the plane being late, and the extra time at the car rental, we hit rush hour traffic driving to Long Island. The car was nice and the return was easy . Now I know to ignore notices about going to the rental counter.
The best rental company ever. I travel for work, so I am constantly renting vehicles from all over the country. Their staff (no matter what city) is extremely helpful and super friendly. Even when I am exhausted getting in at 2 or 3 am, I am always greeted with a smile. I cannot say I am as friendly at such times, but their courtesy and knowledge never fails. Which is not typical of NYC.
Very unpleasant experience for an Emerald member. First time that I have ever been told that I could not get a car without a reservation. They had me wait there while i booked one over the phone telling me they had no cars.Over the phone i was told it was they first time they heard that too and that i should not require a booking to get a car. I wanted a minivan while they told me they did not have such a thing in the parking lot. I had to push them to go check and in the parking lot they actually had over 12 vehicule on any size. They were not even aware of what they had in the Parking Lot.Know your priviledge as Emerald Member and push through the road blocks that this National Rental counter will put ...Pay an extra 5$ and drop he car somewhere else if you can to avoid the hassle of going back there.
Terrific experience! National has really improved! I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised as opposed to my experiece about 4 years ago with National Car Rental. Ive always heard their TV ads about choosing any car in the aisle but when I first tried National 4 years ago there was one car in the aisle and it was very poor quality. I vowed to never use National again and I have spent thousands with Hertz since I travel about 40+ weeks annually. However, I am increasingly dissatisfied with Hertz so I tried National this past week at JFK in NY and it was great! There were many quality vehicles to choose from and the staff was excellent! Great attitudes, clean cut, smiles on their faces, positive, enthusiastic greetings, etc. The staff was the same when I returned the car to La Guardia airport as I was leaving NY. I will try National a bit more and if this is consistent elsewhere then I will likely switch to National on a permanent basis. Ive been consistently unhappy with Hertz from poor attititudes among the staff to long lines (even for Gold members) to low inventory levels (sometimes none at all and I have to wait quite awhile for a vehicle), and Ive been a Presidents Circle Gold Member for many years now. Then when I try to use my loyalty points for a free rental there are so many restrictions that I wind up not redeeming points at all. In fact, thats why I tried National recently. So as I think about all of this, because Hertz is being penny wise and pound foolish with regard to their loyalty program, as well as poor service, it caused me to try their competition again and they are likely to lose a good customer that has given them approximately $15,000 to $20,000 in revenues over the past five years. Likewise, that one bad experience with National four years ago kept me from ever going with National since then... thus costing them quite a bit of revenue. Just goes to show you how valuable EVERY customer experience could be for a business. Its NOT just about that one transaction... it leads to hundreds more transactions... or none at all. I was delighted by this experience with National and theyve now got my attention again!
I rent with National frequently thru work. Nothing to disappoint or too impressive; dont usually have issues. But its happened more than once when I get the tolls pass and ask if it covers the tolls. They tell me yes, but I typically get a bill a month later. Its annoying because my expense on it is now long gone and why would they charge me a daily rate and then later charge me? Besides that, the cars and service are usually fine, nothing special.
Rental experience was great but I received addtional charge on my credit card 1 month after I returned the vehicle. I understand this charge might be for a parking/toll violation by me but generally companies send you a note or copy of the tickets, advising what the charge is about. Whereas National just quietly charged my credit card without any notification/information being shared. This is called stealing and I am very unhappy on Nationals unprofessional behaviour.
This company is amazing, their staff is so caring, helpful and Courteous. Advantage car rental was way cheaper than National Car Rental but for some reason my feet couldnt help but walking right into National I use them before at Laguardia airport and now I was at JFK airport the customer service rep. then gave me their best rate I could possible ask for. Dropping off the car oh my gosh the staff is just so helpful. I am forever dedicated to National Car Rental. People this is the way to rent a car when in NYC I GUARANTEE 100% SATISFACTION!!!!!!!!!

Not the cheapest, not the most consistent at every airport, but the most convenient by far. I love that as a frequent traveler I can just pick up my car, say No. 3 times at the gate, and be gone. Then when I return I can just drop the car and go without being expected to form a long term relationship with the employee checking my car back in. No hassle, no fuss, just let me get to my plane. Im an Emerald Club member and I love the quick and easy step to choose which ever car I want from the emerald club aisle and drive out the lot without having to stand on line at the counter. I also like the nice selection of cars and Suvs that are always available in the Emerald aisle as well.
NYC airports are never a pleasure, but our last experience with National overrode all the minuses of traveling through JFK. Car pickup was a breeze, Emerald Aisle was well stocked and we liked our choice, car was flawless. Return was where we got over the top services. We realized we had a gotten ourselves into a possibly hopeless situation and might miss our flight. The car return representative was cheerful and helpful and provided the suggestion that solved our situation (which had nothing to do with National, btw). Extra effort, thinking outside the box, this is how Brands are built.
I rented a Nissan Rogue at the JFK Airport and the car was not able to connect to CarPlay at all. Had to use my GPS on the phone for travel and it was not fun. Other cars in the lot were not good either. there is no customer service at the rental center. I tried four different cars and finally settled on this 2019 Nissan Rogue.
I used the Emerald Club feature which allowed me to by-pass the counter and any possible deals. All was well, I even got to choose which car I wanted. Half-way through my 2-day rental I called National asking if I could apply a discount code and keep the car another day without penalties (something enterprise is very flexible with). I was told I could keep it an extra day and that they added the extension to my contract. I was also told that the coupon could could only be added once my contract is closed, but I should call to make sure it was.Once the contract was closed (upon return) I called. I found out that not only was the coupon not added and could not be added but I was also charged at a higher rate for the extra day. The rep was completely unsympathetic and when I asked if I had been deceived just so I would get charged for the rental one more day I was told, basically.I will not be using them again.
JFK National- Travel during covid times are stressful enough but to have a limited selection of vehicles to choose from go figure the one we chose had beer cans and trash under the back seats, the front interior was dirty and not wiped down. Only the outside of the vehicle was washed, upon return we saw their covid cleaning process which was a guy with a spray bottle who squeezed the trigger 4 times from the trunk and moved on to the next vehicle. Not what I expect from a business during these times
It was a great experience to rent car from JFK similar to other locations. JFK staff was very cooperative in providing proper directions, helping in completing all formalities very quickly. Especially, without demanding they provided me refund for the gas I filled in the car which was originally empty when I rented the car. Amazing. Keep it up guys.
Courteous, professional service all around; customer has choice of vehicles; clean cars and facilities. One minor problem with the final bill was handled immediately, to our satisfaction, by a manager. We have used several rental agencies at JFK and National was the best. We plan on using them again on future visits to NY.
I have used Hertz for years but decided to give National a try after a few bad experiences with the Hertz at JFK. I will now use National exclusively at JFK! They were out of the car class I had reserved but, instead of making that my problem, they directed me to the next class up and sent me on my way. Outstanding customer service from the moment I walked on to the lot followed by a quick and easy return. Great job all the way around!
Came in on business during a major noreaster storm. Was a little concerned about my reservation b/c of the inclement weather - I had absolutely no issues. More than enough cars to choose from. All cars were de-iced and ready to go. In and out at lighting speed. A day later, I received something that NEVER happens anymore from big companies - a personal email in my inbox, from Ronnie J. Billips, the Station Manager for National Car Rental at the JFK Airport and copied were 5 other National employees, along with their REAL emails (not some auto-generated reply email address). Essentially, what this told me is that if I had any issues whatsoever, I was invited to contact someone via a direct line of communication that would actually reach a real person and that it would be handled swiftly. Again, I had ZERO issues or concerns with my rental, but it was so comforting to know that in the event that I should have needed to get in touch with someone from National Car Rental, (more importantly someone at the precise site location from which I rented), I was empowered to do so with ease. THANK YOU!!! And, Kudos National Car Rental for sending me this email that made me a happy customer.
Car was dirty inside. Windows had smudges and fingerprints all over. Food and drinks had been spilled on the leather seats. Its a shame that I had to clean the car on my own. First time this has happened since being a National Executive Elite member. I will look at my ride more carefully on my next trip. No more jumping in and taking off. Hopefully my next rental on 10/31 @ JFK will be better
Ive always received phenomenal service at National. Their representatives have been helpful and professional. I enjoy the benefits of being an Emerald Club member and in general i appreciate their responsiveness also when ive needed assistance of various sorts along the way.
I am a frequent renter, and use the JFK location whenever I can. Staff is friendly and attentive, cars are new, fresh & clean, and check in/check out is convenient. Cost is a bit on the high side, but I feel cost for quality is a fair tradeoff. Only 2 issues keep me from rating this a 5 star experience:1) I use the toll pass option, but on 2 separate occasions I was given a non-functioning pass, which I didnt find out until I got to the toll booth - very inconvenient to get to an EZ pass lane and have to wait for a toll guard to manually open the gate, and cars behind you honking and yelling away. Always ask the National clerk to make sure that the toll pass is active (and has money).2) Make sure you physically walk around the entire vehicle, and make note of any dents, dings or scratches before you check the car out. The check out clerk will not do it for you, but the check in clerk will, and you are liable for small dings & scratches bigger than a quarter. If you are in a hurry, it is very easy to overlook when taking the vehicle out, and no one will remind you. I usually carry collision coverage on the car as a precaution.
This was my first experience with National...started off ok, but it then went sour. I am an emerald club member that was on business travel, and when I first got to the location, I was greeted and treated very nicely. The outside attendant came to me and explained to me that I could select any car in the emerald club car row, despite my company booking of a compact car, so I chose a 2016 chevrolet trax, which is a very tiny SUV, and could go for an intermediate.When I got to the gate to leave, then all chaos broke loose. The attendant spoke to me in a rude tone and asked for my credit card, which was a corporate business card. He kept looking in my car and then he told me that he could not accept my card because it would not swipe and was potentially a fraud card because did not see something when he placed the card under the black light fraud machine. I consistently told him that this was a corporate card and it couldnt be fake because I just booked a flight with it. He then told me I had to use another card or I couldnt rent.In the midst of this situation, he looked at my car and told me I would have to pay an upgrade because it wasnt a compact car. I mentioned to him what the attendant told me before I even selected this car. Also, he kept trying to force an ez pass and xm radio on me despite me telling him this is a business trip and I cant have anything extra.So finally, I , as a customer, had to get him to call a manager for help. The manager came and said the same thing about how he couldnt help me, so I had to tell them to call and get a credit card authorization...SOMETHING THEY SHOULD ALREADY KNOW HOW TO DO IN THIS SITUATION!I already had a long flight, and I was held up for an hour at this gate! after everything, they apologized and said we can offer you a full tank of gas for your inconvenience. I told them that this would not be beneficial to me because this trip is on the company, so they pay for gas. They said its nothing they could do.This was a very unpleasant experience, especially as an emerald club member. Hopefully this reaches the right person and they understand why I would be hesitant to ever do a personal rental with this company. Unfortunately, I have to because this is my companys preferred rental choice.
I frequently rent cars at the JFK airport. After renting from numerous different agencies at the airport I can say without question Nationals level of service far exceeds any of the other operations that I have used. The employees are the most helpful, the operation better organized and the cars are in the condition they should be. Without reservation when flying in and out of JFK National it is by far the best car rental option.
The staff at National JFK were wonderful. I have never received service as great at a rental car facility as I had with National. I will continue to use them for my rental car needs. I will also recommend National for anyone looking to rent a car. Just fabulous service. Thank you.
The poor score of this review is not reflective of this particular location, rather than the experience with National after the fact. I had some minor damage to the vehicle I returned due to me hitting a possum in the road. The on site folks had me complete an incident report, in which I provided the claim number for my insurance company to handle the damages. I was mailed another form by National to complete for an incident report, which I completed and emailed to the claims department the same day I received it. I have since received two more letters from National asking for the same information, along with a letter asking for my insurance information. My insurance company has already been working with National to pay the claim, but yet they seem to not be communicating with each other. As a result, they continue to harass me, and now have sent me a bill for the total damages. The services are great until there is an issue, than it is a mess. Damages and recovery department has no idea what they are doing and they are the nastiest group of people you will ever come across.
Excellent experience for services at JFK. Airtrain to Federal Circle - convenient and free. Easy transition to National counter. As an Emerald Club member, I was able to choose from dozens of cars in the Emerald Isle. Chose a brand new Dodge Charger (love that car) No hidden charges for EZ Pass - straight $3 per day, plus 20% off on tolls. Drop off was seamless, and manager adjusted a few bucks on bill due to discrepancy between quoted price and final bill - no issues.I would definitely rent from National again at this location.
Im an Emerald Club Member with National and it is so beneficial. The staff at JFK are: awesome they helped my elderly mother a great deal. The staff really went above and beyond. Frasier at JFK Airport helped us so much and he is an outstanding Customer Service Rep. I love National - and rent cars monthly they always make renting cars easy and provide great rates!
National gave us an amazing experience during a recent trip to New York. We arrived on a rainy Tuesday and there were just a few sedans in the lot from which to choose. That would not work for four women with multiple large bags. Fortunately, Im an Emerald Club member, and the attendant helped expedite getting us a vehicle large enough to handle our group.We were also grateful National offered a rented EZ-pass device to get through toll roads in a breeze. The pass was worth the nominal cost. I highly recommend the EZ-pass for anyone driving on toll roads. So glad Im an Emerald Club member; it made renting a car a wonderful experience, and Nationals prices and service (and vehicle selection) is exceptional, as are their people, who all treated us with care and professionalism.
Had no issues at National Car Rental - JFK. Once I got the the Rental facility, I put my luggage in a car and drove out. The person that checked me out at the gate exit was very helpful, professional and friendly. I have been an elite VIP member at national for several years and will continue with national as my preferred car rental vendor of choice.
Ive rented from national many time but this was definitely my last. I have executive elite status with national so generally I can take any car in the executive aisle. I tried to take an SUV and went to a woman named Sherine who explained to me that due to laws in NY (which I was unaware of) I was too young to take such a big car. So I took the car back into the lot and asked the manager what kind of car I was allowed to take. He told me that I can take anything up to a full sized car. So I took a Nissan maxima and drive back to the exit. Again Sherine told me that I wasnt allowed to take the car. I told her that her manager had told me that I can take anything up to a full sized car. Now she started being disgustingly rude and yelling at me that she had told me already that Im not allowed to take it and Im wasting her time. She ended up calling over the manager whom she yelled at as well and he put me through with the car.
To Whom it May Concern, I would like to compliment you on your great team at JFK. My family and I flew in under the worst of circumstances, to attend my fathers funeral. We were so rushed we were unaware that a snowstorm was approaching NY.While we had reserved a mini-van your team was able to immediately provide us with an upgrade to a large SUV which became more than essential during our stay.Upon our return to the lot today at 5:30AM, carrying 5 very large bags, your rental return team offered to drive us to the terminal so we didnt need to get on the train and endure the long walk from the station to JetBlue. Unfortunately, I dont have their names but I imagine it wont be hard for you to track them down.My compliments to your company for placing customer service as a top priority at a time when many/most do not and for hiring people of such high caliber.After 30 very active years of business travel where I mostly rented from Avis I switched over to National only recently on a friends strong recommendation. You have earned a loyal customer for life who will proudly recommend your companies services.
The team at JFK have gone out of their way to make sure they have the type of cars I like.Every tine, I drived away with a fun car to drive, a sport car for the nice weather or a AWD during the winter. I make sure to fly in to JFK every week just because I know I always get fantastic customer service and very friendly reception.It is a pleasure to work with them every week.
A long flight back to JFK, 2 adults with 2 young kids, but not having a pickup arranged, imagine that! Rented a car from national, rented 2 car seats for the 2 kids as well, drove the car from the airport back to home, then return it to a rental near home next day. It was a great relief not having to ride the public train carrying 2 young kids and so many pieces of luggage! The only thing is that I hoped I could have got a bigger car.
The experience was quite good. I use National Emerald Club whenever I travel. Not having flown into JFK for many years, the experience was different. AirTran really help getting me to the facility. This is the third time this year Ive rented from National and have only good things to say about the staff and service. I only wish they would lower their rates for loyal customers.
Very good experience at this National location. Ive never been treated so well and made to feel so appreciated by the staff at a car rental location. It will definitely cause me to look to National on my next rental to see if they can continue with this great service at other locations.
As an Emerald Executive member, I expect clean, low mileage and nicer vehicle upgrades. I get all of this and the management team is superb! They are always willing to provide a nice upgrade and keep the customer happy (and returning for more business). I wish I could say the same for National in LGA or EWR airports (which are a dump AND they treat even their best customers like garbage...like the kind Ive found in the back seats of vehicles in LGA or EWR). I can only credit the JFK National Management and the fact that they care about their customers (enough to assure they provide clean, low-mileage vehicles) to their best customers.The only reason why I dont provide 5-Stars is because upon check-out, the people in general at the check-out booth need to get a little more polished in speaking/working with business customers.Please remember this and dont lose your way.
Smooth sailing with this National location at JFK. Everyone was really nice and really helpful. I am an executive member and the selection of cars were a great variety. Every car was clean and ready to go. Picked my car and left within 20 mins. Even the rep that I dealt with upon leaving called to make sure everything was ok. I will use this location again!
Arrived at JFK at 1 in the morning after being delayed, called National and was able to get a car , no issues, and such nice helpful people! I am a member of the Emerald club and use National whenever I rent a car for these reasons_ helpful staff, good rates and ease of rental!
Jeep made a funny noise and received it 3/4 full/. The jeep is definitely not the car in terms of equipment radio etc - other cars seem more modernThe RENTAL process itself, in contrast, was really smooth from beginning to end.Also my son called about the gas and they said we should bring it back a little low and whatever extra we would get a refund .So we just have to choose one of the other cars next time
I rented a car from LGA and it was smelling like gas so I called Corporate and they told me I can switch it at any airport so I went to JFK since it was much closer to me. They told me to pick any car but I couldnt find something that was suitable for me so Scott, the manager, personally walked around with me until we found something suitable even though I didnt rent the car at this location. Customer service was awesome, Scott went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. I would recommend this location to anyone. Thanks Scott
I normally love renting via National, and I am a frequent renter, however they have implemented a new rule at the JFK location for local renters only where they Institute a $250 deposit fee in addition to the rental. Needless to say this was an unexpected fee which caused me undue stress and difficult decision making while in the vehicle attempting to check out. Management was of no help and offered no alternative solutions as they said that the new rule was Unbreakable, and the entire deposit had to be on the same credit card used to rent . This was unacceptable, particularly to me as a repeat renter.
Emerald Aisle is still the best service and deal in the rental car industry. You walk up to the aisle, get in a car which many times can be a very nice one, exit the gate and youre off. This was after a horrible day at JFK where flights were being cancelled and sat on a 1-1/2 hr line to get rescheduled the next day. I actually had a Chevy Volt which you dont typically see on the Aisle. After driving it all over NYC I topped off the tank for $2.23! In general, pickup and drop off couldnt be easier with the Airtrain going right to Federal Circle. Its nice to see a company in the travel business providing good customer service while airlines and hotels continue to worsen theirs. Ive been renting from National for over 30 years and they havent let me down yet. I occasionally rent from Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Alamo and Budget but National is still the best.
There was issues with my car like th charge port didnt work and food was left in the car from previous guest. If it wasnt for Andre one of the service workers who checks your car when returning it I wouldnt be renting from here again. He was amazing and helpful I rate his work ethic a 5
They tried to give me a full size SUV when I requested for an extended SUV. They then got a dark extended SUV as I requested. The SUV was wet from the car wash. I asked if the SUV could be dried. They put the SUV back in the car wash and gave it to me wet. I took the wet SUV and it dried with spots. I had to take the SUV to a car wash at my expense to get it washed and dried correctly.Other than that National JFK was ok. As a New Yorker I expected all National vehicles be clean interior and exterior.
National Car Rental in Enterprise car rental the same thing at JFK Airport New YorkNothing but problems ,They upgraded me to a fancy pickup truck I take it and then realize its got truck plates on it and you cannot park a truck in New York City on the street overnight , had to go all the way back to the airport to get another vehicle . And then realize they overcharged me had to get that corrected . Then I was unable to return the car to Laguardia Airport which is 15 minutes away , and the option was to leave it at LaGuardia Airport and pay $1, 000 for a transfer fee , yes I said $1, 000Never again at JFK ,
Rather annoyed. Rented a relatively new Nissan that had its odometer set in Kilometers. My drop-off rate was $ 0.30 / mile but the odometer in and out was in Kilometers. Needless to say I was charged $0.30/kilometer. Ended up paying about $60 more than I should have. Didnt realize the problem until an hour later when I was calculating the distance I drove.
Be aware of National Rental Cars Bait and Switch Technique. I returned the car at JFK 3:19 AM, but my credit card was charged at 8:20 AM, which resulted in 5 days instead of 4 days. When I called the customer service agent, the rep was really good and refunded the extra charge (hence the 2 star).
As always Excellent service. I always use NATIONAL for both business as well as personal trip. But looks like rate is much higher than other vendors. Its OK to have higher rate since quality of service is better. However, it should be within a range. Would have given rating 5 if rate is bit lower.
The car was in horrible condition. On the highway the steering column shaked so bad it was almost unsafe to drive. I told the agent when I returned the car of the issue and they said they would offer me something but, I never said a sniff of anything from him or the manager.
I have been renting with National at JFK for the last 5 years about 4-10 times a year. I cannot say enough about how easy it is. This is my FAVORITE National because the variety of cars is good and the people who work at the JFK location are awesome - better than most. Even in the FREEZING cold and horrible heat the people checking cars in and out are really super helpful and friendly. Im always amazed. I wont rent anywhere else.
My wife and I jsut love the choose your own car.....cant beat that feature. Also always we find a car that totally satisfies us.,,,,either a new low milage or a fun upgrade. We are people who care a lot about the car we are driving even if it is a rental Nice job ....National!!
My experience at JFK was great. Being an Emerald club member the hardest part was deciding which car in the aisle to pick. The selection was great! I saw a bmw, infinity, buick enclave, chevy impala and more. I decided on the red mustang convertible in the last spot! It was a great choice! It was only a V6 but it was no sleeper. When I got the receipt is said Hope you enjoyed your free upgrade Yes I did!
When I arrived at the Emerald aisle at JFK and saw a sports car, imagine my excitement since I have been driving a sports car for the last ten years! The attendants were professional and courteous and encouraged me to drive away in that beautiful, convertible Mustang!!! I did!! I enjoyed the ride!!!
Beat place to rent at JFK. Huge selection of cars to choose from and the staff could not be any friendlier.If you travel a lot join the Emerald club and skip the counter all together. Just choose a car and you are on your way.Returning is just as easy. Just pull in and the guy will check you in in and few seconds give you a receipt and your on your way.Just love it!
Emerald Club is the best. I walk onto the lot, pick out a car appropriate for the trip, and off I go. The JFK Terminal Airtrain takes me right to the lot, no shuttle and all is well. The only negative comments I would make are aimed at the Port Authority, NOT National. Happy customer here!
The Manhattan late night drop off lot was full!We had to drive back out to JFK to return the car. Fortunately the JFK staff are great! They offset our bill to cover the cab back to Manhattan. While Im really upset with National because it took hours to go back and forth to the airport, at least the staff on the ground did the best they could.
I forgot my cell phone in my returned rental car at JFK airport. I got to the ticketing area before I realized my phone was lost. I tracked it on find my phone and it was at National. By the time I got back there the thief had powered it off so it wouldnt ping. I changed it to lost. The manager called the person that had just rented my car to make sure it wasnt in there. I had to catch my flight home. When my flight landed I got a notice that the phone was found in an apartment in Jamaica, NY. The only explanation can be that a national worker stole the phone. Very disappointed in the staff at the airport.
This is the first time that I flew out of LaGuardia. When booking the flight, I had no clue there was limited shuttle service only to Terminal A. My issue with National is, I tried calling the local branch off Ditmas Blvd, and they never picked up the phone. I left a message, never got a call back. The service was horrible
I had a great experience..I got the vehicle i needed which has great mileage for my weekend getaway...The staff was very helpful and i would definitely recommend National Car Rental to everyone i know who is in need of a rental and would like the idea of selecting your own vehicle..
Please do not rent a mobile with multi functional Navigation, Wifi, Text and Call if you want to use it especially for the calling in US national. You might heard low quality sounds converted voice like a Megatron in Transformer during the conversation. I do not have any inconvenience regarding the vehicle.

2022-04-20I have had great experiences with National across the board but the JFK location is the absolute best! The first time I rented with this location, I really needed help with a credit card issue and Arraf was a pro at helping me out.Ive now been going there consistently for the last couple of months. Every time I go, Tamim is always there to make me feel like I own every car in the lot. Their cars are always very clean and well maintained. I always feel right at home when I need to rent a car. Will always recommend, 100%!PS: LOVE LOVE LOVE MY EMERALD MEMBERSHIP!

2022-05-30Always have a good selection of vehicles. As an executive member the range of cars is impressive. Last rental was a Mini Cooper, lots of fun to drive! Staff are friendly and care about any issues that may arise. Dropping off is quick, always helpful in making sure you know where you’re going. Cars are clean, only issue is gas tank is not full a few times, received credit no questions when dropped off. No hassles, convenient to NYC. Appreciate the team who works there.

2022-05-14I’ve been using national car rental for more than seven years in different cities. Good service and good loyalty program.The location that I use the most is the one in JFK airport, never disappointed.Some of my belongings got stolen once by their attendant in Philadelphia. About six years ago, still remember that.

2022-06-22National rental car emerald club works extremely well at JFK airport. I walked out to the area where the cars were located, the selection was good with cars, SUVs, and a mini van or two. There were even a couple plug in hybrids. I spent more time adjusting seat and mirrors than the rest of the process combined and was on the highway in less than 10 minutes after arrival. Check in was at 3:45am. The attendant was very friendly. We had a nice chat (I was the only customer there) about fishing and family. Very wonderful way to begin my day and my trip. Overall I can’t say there is much better than my National experience. I use them regularly when I travel to NY.

2022-06-21Renters beware, this location i.e. JFK, has limited hours of operations. Our flight was delayed. We did call National and made them aware about the delay. Lady on the phone promised and convinced me that they will remain extend their closing by two hours. Upon reaching we found this location to be closed. We called the customer service but no help. We were told there is nothing they could do but just wait until they reopen next day. We were stranded at the airport and missed an important event next day. Would not recommend this location.

2022-05-16Worst place ever. To start off the customer service is awful. The STAFF are very rude and have no manners. The guy with the ponytail was one of the worst employees and humans to deal with. His accomplice a short African woman whom thinks living in a high property tax location is a economical status. She is very rude and both don’t know I am literally enterprise I know there mangers mangers boss Boss. Mr Roberts would not be to pleased with the email I have in store for him. This use to be a great company

2022-04-03Straight up HORRIBLE experience. Wish I could give 0 stars. Im an Executive Elite club member. I missed a connection due to a delayed flight and I was set to arrive at midnight instead of the originally scheduled 10pm. I called them 5 times to inform them of this change with plenty of time and no one answered. Called them at 8-8:30pm only to be sent to voicemail. Left a voicemail and never got a call back. I was told by customer service they would stay up to 2 hours after closing time to help customers on delayed flights. When I got there there is as no one there and the doors were closed. I was stuck without a car and had to take a $150 Uber ride to my hotel. When I called them the next morning no one would pick up either. I had to rent a car from a place near the hotel that wouldnt allow me to return it at the airport, so thats another Lyft ride, this time $80. Horrible experience and not even a courtesy call back. After 3 years of loyalty to you guys you burned me. Never again.Edit: So, you reply to my review telling me to send you an email with all the information so you can make this right. I do so and you just reply to my email that this is how you do business and that everything worked as intended? That Im not supposed to be able to call the locations and that theyre not supposed to stay an extra hour. If I am not supposed to be able to call locations directly then why did your customer service reps direct me to do exactly that about 3 times during this whole process? This is even worse than I thought. Next time you can just spare the generic pre-written response.

2022-03-29Always friendly and helpful service at JFK. I enjoy that I can pick my own car in the emerald aisle.The only thing that could have been better was that one of the keys was out of batteries for the car.
