I used to love coming to this place 4 years ago, but recently the quality of their services have declined and things have just gotten more expensive. I understand the expensive part and how inflation plays a role in that what I dont understand is booking a specific stylist only to get to the salon for them to put me with an inexperienced stylist who clearly looked nervous the whole time she was in my hair. Lets just say she ended up breaking a comb in my hair and didnt even color my hair the way I wanted bc they didnt have the proper supplies. Which doesnt make sense bc I booked days ahead and sent the salon a picture of my hair and what I wanted they confirmed that they will have what I needed when I got there. I was so dissapointed. When I asked if they would color correct I was told Id have to come back in a few weeks and pay another $216 to get my hair done right. When you go into a salon you should come out feeling like your best self not the opposite.
I normally get my hair braided there which is for the most part ok but I was over charged last time and the braider did not do a good job so they only lasted 2.5 weeks. So I decided this time to get beauty items. Horrible. I placed the order may 27 just got it today June 14. No one responded to my emails or call to the shop. I get my products today. Not what I ordered, they tried to play me with the women’s perfume oil. Look how small it is and they slapped a different on it. If you don’t have the products just let customers know. Don’t do this foolishness. I want my money back. I’m going to go to the shop on my day off because this is extremely unprofessional.
I’m a long time customer of the braiding salon at Natural Sisters. My first time going was 2 years ago and I was so impressed that I only go to them. This past time I went (a few days before this post) I had Christelle as my braiding tech. She was great! I am so happy with how my hair turned out. The braids are so neat! She has a great technique. Definitely would recommend this salon as one of the best in Harlem.
I was in need for a good deep condition after having braids in my hair. I went to a Dominican salon which I usually always do every few months but this time I did not feel comfortable because my hair has been completely natural and not straightened since the beginning of the pandemic. I searched up black owned salons and found this place with such great IG pics so I left the Dominicans chair and went straight here. Well, turns out I made a horrible mistake. I got a deep condition but the next day my hair is now SUPER DRY, brittle and breaking off every time I pass a comb through it. Its so, so bad. I certainly have to cut all of my hair off after this damage. And to make matters worse, it cost me $90.... I didnt even get my hair straightened.. The woman blew out my hair and tried to send me out the door with an afro (yeah, they didnt even have a hair tie to give me...) Because they didnt have a hair tie, I asked the woman to give me 4 big conrows (with my natural hair). somehow in the end I ended up out of $90 and now out of my hair too.
After having my hair in twists for a month, my hair was matted at the roots. So I detangled it from the roots and I scheduled a “gentle” detangling, a trim, and a wash and go.I’m literally never going to let this place detangle my hair from scratch ever again. They tore my hair out with god-knows-what and barely trimmed what was needed. The only thing that was nice was the wash and go… but that was after the tearing out of my hair.If you have 4C hair, be wary of this place.
I had my hair box braided by Christelle. I chose her because I saw pictures of her work. I have to say, she did a really good job on my hair. When I arrived, I had to wait a few minutes to be seen for my 10am appointment - maybe about 15 minutes but I am not complaining because I was notified she was on her way. If it wouldve been more than 30 minutes, I would have left. My only issue is that they were not honest with the pricing. I was charged more than I was supposed to be based on what the booking site says but since she did such a good job I did not complain. It also wouldve been nice for them to tell me hair extension was not included with my style so I could have budgeted better. Christelle did a great job so I recommend her! My braids also look so professionally done. For now, it is worth the money I spent.
Ive been to the Natural Sisters Hair Salon twice. I dont ever go to hair salons so I specifically asked for a consultation so I could feel comfortable for the cut Id need.I waited about an hour and some changed past my appointment before a lady came and asked me what I wanted. I said I wanted a consultation. So, impatiently she sat next to me and said This is the consultation, whats up? I was surprised at how informal it was and how she wasnt really hearing my concerns. She seemed to just want to get me in and out. But I needed a cut. She cut of a lot of my hair because of split ends and although the price for everything was about 3x more than I expected, I was happy that my ends were gone. She told me to come in again 2 months later for a trim. When I came in 2 months later, the person who was giving me a trim (a different person) was also about 30 minutes late. Punctuality is not something I experienced either times I went. I told her I needed a trim and she proceeded to GIVE ME A CUT! I was so upset. I paid and left and even though this place is super close to my home, I wont be coming back.I think an important thing you can do as a hairstylist is LISTEN and these people did not listen or hear me either time I went in. Its MY hair, and I think they had no respect for what I was trying to tell them.
I purchased the Charcoal detox shampoo, tea tree rosemary deep conditioner, leave in conditioner, and the megagrowth elixir. The deep conditioner was great at detangling, but after 4 months, turned to a watery mess and I had to pour it out the jar . The leave-in conditioner did the same thing. They go bad after about four months. The Charcoal shampoo did nothing for my hair, and while the elixir made my scalp feel really good, not sure if it did anything. My head would look like Id been rolling around in weeds and grass due to the all the herbs and its not clear what these herbs do. The products have no seal . The just put scotch tape around the top. My product had spilled in the box and no one from customer service ever responds. These products just arent good quality as consistency changes drastically in a few short months. Ive reached out to customers service multiple times and they never responded.
Today was my first appointment here with Natural Sisters. Everyone was very welcoming and pleasant when i walked in. My hair stylist was Andrea. Shes such a sweetheart. She was very informative and told me exactly what my hair needed and what products i should stay away from that dont really agree with my texture. I was scheduled for a silk press, deep treatment & detailed trim. I was so comfortable i almost fell asleep lol The salon was very clean and the ambiance is very comfy. Ill definitely be coming back!!! Thank you Andrea & thank you Natural Sisters!!! I finally found a salon i can trust ❤
Im a little late with this review but the delay on it is not a reflection of my feelings about this place. My younger sister started coming here first, so I tried them out on her recommendation. Back in February I decided to cut my hair and Tiffany was my stylist for the journey. She asked me what my ideas were and from there she gave me a cut that is flattering when straight, curly, or natural. Im in love with this hairstyle and plan on returning shortly to maintain it. Her skills with the silk press are so great that when my mom saw my hair, she had to have Tiffany do her hair for her birthday. All the stylists are great and personable, too, so you cant go wrong; but my choice for a cut and style is Tiffany.
I was happy with the outcome of my hairstyle and I like the fact that the appointment times seems to be on point. The place was clean and comfortable. Leonor was my stylist and she was very welcoming and very professional as well. My style did not last I as long as I would haveexpected..but I will have to figure out how to maintain my two strand twists from now on.Overall I would definitely recommend Natural Sisters especially if you are seeking professional help to grow out your natural hair healthily. Thank You, Natural Sisters Hair Salon!
Wooooo, where do I start??I made an appointment at The Weave Lounge (which is somehow affiliated with Natural Sisters) with Ragan 10 days before my appointment date. 24hrs before the appointment date, i get a call from The Weave Lounge claiming that Ragan was unavailable (didn’t give me a reason why but okay…) and asked if booking with another stylist was okay. Strike one. Honestly, I only said yes because I was going on vacation and I needed my hair braided. So I agree to another stylist, cool. Then I get texts informing me that my appointment at Natural Sisters had been accepted, which confused me because the girl on the phone never said it would be a different salon, she only said I’d be getting another stylist. Strike two. So the next day (day OF my appointment), less than one hour before my appointment time, I get multiple missed calls from Natural Sisters, saying my (new) stylist can’t make it and I’ll have to reschedule. MIND YOU, I had already rescheduled since she wasn’t even the person I originally booked with. So I call back the missed phone call and she (another woman this time) tells me the stylist had an emergency and couldn’t make it, and if I could come tomorrow instead. Mind you, I’ve been made this appointment 10 days prior, The Weave Lounge waited until 24 hrs before my appointment to let me know Ragan can’t make it, and they also stuck me at another salon that I didn’t consent to being booked to, now this woman is telling me to come tomorrow. So I tell her, “I made this appointment over a week ago for today, I can’t come tomorrow, I need someone to braid my hair today.” And this woman becomes livid, shouting at me over the phone telling me not to tell her that I made an appointment over a week ago (UMMM but I did sis? Why you mad at the truth?) and that if I want a braider she can get me a braider, but to not tell her that I made the appointment a week ago. I guess she was big mad that I was expecting to be braided on the damn day that I made an appointment to be braided? Strike 3. I show up at the spot, and she (the woman I spoke to on the phone that told me not to tell her when I booked my appointment) asks me “were you the one that I spoke to on the phone who told me she made an appointment over a week ago?” (Why does that matter???) And I say “yep!! That was me!” Like sis was really mad that I told her I made an appointment a week ago 😂 Then about 5 mins later she instructed me to go downstairs and ask for Myruu (hope I’m spelling her name right), honestly, the only good thing out of the whole experience was her. She and her assistant did a good job braiding my hair, that’s why I’m giving this review 2 stars instead of one. Last strike, when it came time to pay, Myruu wrote down the price on my ticket and gave it to the cashier girl, which was $265 ($250 for the braiding and $15 for the hair). I pay the girl. Then a few minutes later, the woman who told me not to tell her when I booked comes downstairs and asks me who gave me that price, and that price is way too low, and ended up charging me $315 ($300 for the braids and $15 for the hair). What I didn’t like was that she scolded Myruu in front of myself and the other customers for “giving a price without asking”. It was super awkward and tense and made me feel uncomfortable, after she went back upstairs we all went quiet and it was just weird, you can tell her employees don’t like working for her. It also made me feel like she might have over charged me due to our scuffle over the phone earlier. How could her and her braider be so far off on prices??? It doesn’t make sense, but I just said that’s fine and paid. Honestly, boss lady is rude and unprofessional. I’m not coming again, nor will I patronize The Weave Lounge for thinking they were slick, booking with another salon without even telling me. And to the person who gets paid to respond to negative reviews so that it looks cute on google, don’t bother. I just want people to know what kind of experience they’re getting.
Wow walked away from that salon thinking I am never coming back here. I do not recommend this salon at all. My first experience was over a year ago and I got a wash and straightening which cost me $70 (too high in my opinion), the service was fine nothing too bad. But this second appointment was wild. I made an appointment online a few days in advance for a trim, just a trim. When I walked in I was greeted by the rude receptionist who repeatedly questioned me about why I was there, it seemed like they were not prepared/didnt know about my appointment as there were only two stylists there already working on clients. So I sat around, then 5 minutes after my appointment time someone walks through the door and says How can I help you? I tell her I have an appointment for a trim, she directs me to sit in her chair. She tells me that she has to blow dry my hair, Im sitting there thinking why would she have to do that? Ive gotten my hair trimmed curly many times (at other salons), you just wet it with a spray bottle and trim (for context I have 3b/c hair). But she proceeds to blow dry it, but doesnt even detangle it before she slaps a paddle brush in my hair!! I could hear my hair breaking! I am not tender headed but this hurt and multiple times she heard my discomfort and said sorry. She yanked at my hair with this paddle brush and (kind of??) blow dries it. This is when I knew she definitely doesnt know what shes doing. She continues to yank through my hair with this paddle brush, and I begin texting my friends like yall may need to fake an emergency call for me so I can leave this place asap. When the stylist finishes blow drying she asked me how much I want cut off, since its just a trim I tell her half an inch or less, just the dead ends. But I think stuff was lost in translation because of a language barrier (I was speaking English but not sure if she understood everything I said). She starts trimming, during the trim she is picking up phone calls and turning her head to watch TV. Are you kidding me! She wasnt even paying attention to my cut. She also didnt know how to trim hair... she sectioned it off like you would for a straightening, and never evened out all the hair after she would finish a section. She also kept asking to use MY ponytail to help her section, like dont you have clips? Each time she started a new section she blow dried again (mind you she never put on head protectant or anything) and yanks my hair with her brush. At this point Im just praying for this appointment to end. By the time she is done she puts my hair in a ponytail, then asks ME how much the price is. Like yall dont even know how much you charge your clients? I told her the website said $20, so I paid that.So incredibly unprofessional. My hair is uneven and probably more split ends then what I started with since she was yanking my hair so much. Definitely do not recommend this salon.
Their phone number doesnt work 80% of the time, I couldnt even reach them to cancel my appointment! So unprofessional, they dont have a working website, the message on the phone is that their voicemail box has not been set up and then the call ends automatically. Will never risk my hair at such a place. Hard pass.
So, I had a 10:00 am scheduled, accepted and confirmed appointment yesterday (Labor Day) with Sophie at Natural Sisters. I even made changes to my services on Sunday (day before) with a young lady on the phone. I was excited to go because my daughter had gone before and gave rave reviews. Finally, on my only day off from work…I arrived early. After waiting almost an hour later, the salon wasn’t open for the day. They didn’t have the courtesy to let me know so I could reschedule or make other arrangements. My morning was totally wasted. There was another young lady also waiting with the same assumption/anticipation that she would get her hair done as well. This was so not good for business and they just don’t care about new customers!
Natural Sisters was an amazing experience. The receptionist Tish was great with easing my nerves, the shampoo woman was so kind and my stylist Andrea!!!!! I mean she hooked my hair up! This was my first hair but ever and I love it. All the staff was pleasant and welcoming. The products made my hair feel like butter!!! They smell heavenly and are ooh so natural. I have already booked my next session... thank you NS!
I have tried several hair salons over my lifetime and none can compare to the service at Natural Sisters Hair Salon. They are always ready and on time. They take into consideration you as an individual and services are always tailored to you. My absolute favourite stylist is Yvonne !!!! Very attentive, gentle and makes sure your comfortable throughout your entire service. Highly recommended !!!! Favourite place on earth and so worth it. They also make all their products and strive to be as informative as possible to ensure you take care of your beautiful natural hair at home!!!
Tiffany is a great hair stylist/healthy hair guru. She knew what my hair needed without even asking me. She gave me a silk press with hydrating treatment and a detailed trim and Since Ive been going to her, Ive noticed my hair grew in inches without breakage at a rapid rate. She recommended frequent trims and less tension hairstyles and of course moisture. She also made my hair softer and easier to manage. Next appointment, Im getting a color and I trust her with my first color. Will post pics soon, cant wait!!!!
First off, I am very particular about my hair. After searching for a regular NY-based hairstylist for years, I finally met Tiffany S. at Natural Sisters. I have been going to her bi-weekly for over a year now. She is amazing! Tiffany cares about healthy hair and that is very important to me. She lets me know what my hair needs in order to be at its healthiest whether its a trim or a treatment. My hair is natural, but I typically get a silk press. My silk presses last until my next appointment. On top of it all, I usually go to the salon before work and Tiffany is very conscious of time. She makes sure to get me in and out. My hair feels very healthy and its constantly growing. Tiffany S. has my highest recommendation!!
I was in desperate need for an affordable natural hair stylist and a friend referred me to Natural Sisters. My first appointment was with Jasmine. Jasmine is a true professional and knowledgeable about natural hair. She gave me advice about my hear and products to use for best effects. My first service was a hair color and low lights and she did an outstanding job. She also did a beautiful flat twist. Im so happy with my service that booked my appointment for a silk press and a trim in a couple of weeks. Do check this place out!
My first experience at Natural Hair Sisters Salon was wonderful. The customer interaction I received from Jasmine was amazing. I felt a little scared how my hair will come out because it was my first time getting a sewed in weave. But I was wrong. Jasmine was incredible!! She is very knowledgeable about all types of hair and styles. She made me feel certain that I came to the right place & person to get my hair done.
I took my daughter so she could get her hair braided into knotless braids. Im happy that my daughter was happy with getting her hair washed steamed, and braided. On the website they have prices set and i paid more than the price on website. They are pricey and the amount spent was a bit much for me but in the end my daughters happiness matters.
Today I went Natural sisters hair salon and was services by Diamond. She did an amazing job with taking out my tracks and giving me a great detox wash and condition. She also blow out my hair leaving it straight and easy to style. I cant wait to come back to the salon. The receptionist was also nice they make you feel very comfortable and the wine is great as well.
This place is amazing all the products are really natural. My first wash I could see a difference in my hair and that was before it was even done. The environment was also amazing my hair dressers Kema was also fabulous she took her time to find the right products that was for my type of hair, made sure I was comfortable and made me smile. It so clean you could eat off the floor. The owner was there actually she book my apartment greeted me and made sure I was well taken care of. If your look for a totally natural hair salons this is the place I will became a regularly customer and you should too BIG FACTS
Today was my first appointment with Jazz B and I am so happy I came! My hair is natural and I was very nervous for my appointment. I dont go to salons because of too many bad experiences. Jazz B is warm and friendly. She made me feel comfortable. She is extremely professional and she informs you during each step of your hair care services. She is an experienced stylist. I would refer Jazz B to all of my friends and family. I have been searching for a long time for a great stylist and thank God I have found Jazz B at Natural Sisters Hair Salon!
I do not usually leave reviews but this one I felt like I had to. I spent 3 years going natural no heat whatsoever and I decided I would like to see the length of my hair so I signed up to get a silk press. Not only was my hair cut uneven, the hydrating mask dried up my hair, and I GOT HEAT DAMAGE. What they did was an over priced Dominican blowout not a silk press. I could have gone to a Dominican salon and payed $60 for the same thing that they did but I was charged $140. I am truly really disappointed and upset. She was very nice but I was very unhappy with the end result. To top it off, I also got scolded for being late when I was late because the location they gave me was not the location where my hair was getting done they sent me a couple of blocks down to the weave lounge. My sister went to this salon before me and had a great experience (Her hair was done at the natural sisters part of the salon- might have something to do with it?) but I in good faith could not recommend this place to anyone... truly truly disappointed.
I work with Tiffany at natural sisters. I have to say, she is knowledgeable about natural hair. She has provided great recommendations to help with my dry hair which has worked. She also did my first silk hair press. It was beautiful. The hair was luxurious, soft and beautiful. She even showed me how to keep the hair once I left. I will definitely go back again.
I recently went to Natural Sisters for the first time. Tiffany was my stylist. First I want to say I have been getting my hair done for years and the service I received from Tiffany was awesome. She walked me through everything she was doing to my hair. From the treatments and also when it came to her trimming my ends. I will definitely be coming back.
I recently moved to Jersey and made the decision to be a straight natural and begin heat training my hair. I knew Id need a knowledgeable natural hair stylist who I could trust with my tresses, so I began researching. After reading the reviews, I decided on Natural Sisters Salon. I went today, and let me tell you...my life has changed! I was a bit nervous about trying a new salon, but I was greeted immediately when I walked in. They do a really good job with scheduling, but for some reason there was a glitch with my appointment, so my stylist, Tiffany, came right over and apologized and even though she wasnt finished with her other client, she did a 5 minute consultation with me about my hair history and hair goals. Pretty dope. Shortly after that, she got me in the wash bowl and began my services. For each product and step, Tiffany explained what she was using and doing and why. After the steam treatment, she asked another stylist to rinse me, and she also explained everything carefully. When it was time to style my hair, Tiffany took her time and was gentle with my mane, as I have quite a bit of hair. I needed a trim, and I was skeptical because some folks get scissor happy. She thoroughly explained the state of my hair and showed me my split ends, and before she cut about 2 inches off, she asked if I was comfortable with that. She finished my style, and I had so many compliments before and after leaving the salon. The professionalism, attention to detail, and knowledge in this salon are amazing, but what impressed me the most was that from the moment I stepped in the door til the moment I left, the ladies treated me as if we had known each other for years. I left feeling like it was what a Black salon experience should be. It felt like a haven I could go to after a long day of work and get rejuvenated. I will most definitely be back!
Advice to management: start customers hair on time! Be clear on price before starting! If you do not know the style, dont pretent to! Speak professionally to customers AND staff!I waited almost an hour after my appointment time to start my hair. I sent a picture of the style before I got there. I also asked for the price when I sat down on the chair and was ignored by the braiding manager. The lady who started my braids was very nice but she was not doing them correctly. After 45 mins of braiding, the manager told her to take them down because they were not good.Another braider started my hair, also very nice, but I can tell theyve never done the style before. In the end, the manager asked me to pay for an amount that she made up on the spot which was too high and demanded that I speak quietly so the customers dont hear. Also, I was there from 10AM until 5PM for a style that only takes 3.5 hours. And for what? I got home and my twists started to unravel.
The people here are extremely friendly but most importantly honest! My stylist, JazzB, was completely honest about the services I was getting and helped me to understand my hair. The client she had before me left with an amazing feathered cut. There is a stylist Egypt who did a great job with his customers too. The stylists here really know theyre stuff and the prices are reasonable. I will definitely be coming back!
If your a Natural Women and you dont know what to do with your hair; Go to Natural Sisters Salon because they will CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!!! I went to The Natural Sisters Salon fresh out of braids and didnt even comb my hair. I received a SilkPress and a trim from Egypt and he did an Amazing Job, he straighten my hair and not my scalp like some other salons tend to do. The Salon has a very nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly, they care about your hair and are very knowledgeable about natural hair care products.Egypt did not weigh my hair down with a million products and my hair feels amazing, has body, movement, and shine; I never thought my hair could look this good natural. Trust if you come here you wont be disappointed.
I recently started my natural hair journey. Natural Sisters is the first salon I’ve been to in NYC. I got a wash, conditioning treatment, flat twists with Yvonne, and I’ll definitely be coming back to see her! Plus, the products are nice, and I got some great hair advice. Definitely check them out if you’re interested.
I had my weave washed there once and that was nice. I had my curls shingled once and it left a bit to be desired. I got faux Locs that looked A MESS. My mother had a custom wig made for $700 and they never got back to her about when to actually pick up and style the wig, and did not answer the phone and were extremely rude and not helpful when she finally did get in touch with them. She eventually just had her credit card cancel the purchase. I’m not sure what is going on there but what started out as an adequate establishment a few years ago has become the last place I would go for any of my natural hair care needs.
After doing some research on silk presses, I happened upon this salon. I really wanted to straighten my hair but without the damage, and so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out they actually specialize in natural haircare. The stylist I had was Jazz B and she was extremely attentive to my hairs needs, explaining the straightening process of silk presses and how my hair would ultimately turn out (my hair is very coarse and not heat trained at all). I could tell she truly cared about the health of my hair. I had the ends trimmed and one of the salons moisture treatments. I will definitely be back whenever Im in the city.
I had an excellent experience at this salon. My stylist, Egypt, did exactly what I wanted. and the results were amazing.Color: This was my first time dying my hair and my stylist Egypt was patient, informed and swift. The color came out great, a bit more subtle then I expected but now I feel more confident in going a bit lighter.Cut: Im always worried that stylists will cut too much off. I asked for long layers and that is exactly what I got. He trimmed just enough split ends and gave me a nice symmetric shape.Deep conditioner: I normally do my own deep conditioner but because I just got a color done I opted for a hydrating conditioner. Best decision ever. My hair has been moisturized, soft and full of body.Service: I received warm customer service from the time a booked my appt over the phone to the atmosphere in the salon. The staff was very professional and warm. My stylist managed several customers very well. Will definitely be back. I highly recommend this salon.
I love going to Natural Sisters Hair Salon. The customer service that I receive from Jasmine is unbelievable. She is extremely knowledgeable about all types of hair and hair styles. She is passionate about her art and it shows in her work. I am always satisfied with the service I receive but most of all with the way my hair looks. I look forward to my appointments with Jasmine because she never disappoints.
Im so glad I stumbled across this salon. Jazz B colored my hair and she did an amazing job. I can tell she actually cares about the health of your hair and it truly shows. She talked me through every step of the process and made me feel comfortable. I will definitely be back and I would also recommend this salon to anyone looking for quality service!
I loved how wonderful everyone was at this salon. The staff makes you feel at home the moment you walk in. Andrea was my stylist. She has a great demeanor and I absolutely loved how she styled my hair. It was simply beautiful. I booked my next appointment before I left. If youre looking for a great salon, this is the place.
I had my first experience with Natural Sisters this past Saturday, which I was very pleased. My appointment was with Andrea , one she was on one time!!! Which I was very happy about. I loved the Gospel music and the cleanliness of the salon. My consultation was very informative, I learned my postpartum shedding could last up to 5 years 😳. However, I felt comfortable enough to go ahead and get a big chop to start my journey back to healthy hair.Their products were amazing. I had the honey protein steam treatment which softened up my dried out hair. I bought their Growth Exlir to help with my thinning areas. The only down side is having to wait almost a month to get the next appointment. I would suggest if you are pleased with your experience book a few appointments in advanceSheniqua Majett
I have been going to Tiffany Silvester at Natural Sisters Hair salon in Harlem NYC off and on for about a year now. She has repaired and revived my natural hair from all of the damage I have inflicted upon my hair. Tiffany is not pushy or tries to sell products to make a profit. She genuinely cares about healthy hair and makes recommendations. That will help your hair grow. Apart from her being an excellent stylist she is also a great person. She is welcoming and full of light. I highly recommend Tiffany, you won’t be disappointed.
Jasmine is such an awesome stylist. She is extremely knowledgeable about the products my hair needs and is able to explain everything concerning hair care. My hair is always silky, shiny and manageable. All the staff are great and friendly. The prices are affordable and my hair last almost 4 weeks. I love this place and would never go any where else.
Bottom line: Best natural hair care salon Ive been to in the NYC metro area. I returned today after trying out some different salons closer to me and realized Natural Sisters is the best place for me. Today I got a silk press and trim from Egypt, and it was a five star service in every category. Came out feeling like I was ready for the red carpet.
Egypt is amazing!!!!I walked in for the first time since I was in the neighborhood and in dire need of a wash, condition and trim. I didnt have an appointment, but Egypt agreed to book an appointment with me within the hour.Everyone who worked there is so bright, friendly, and full of life! The whole time I was there I felt energized despite being so tired from a redeye cross-country flight and no sleep that day.Egypt took great care of my hair and clearly paid attention to detail. Also, all the products they use here are handmade and natural and you can tell (in a good way)! When I left, I could actually feel my scalp thanking me for the nourishment it just received!Im bummed that this cant be my permanent salon since I live in LA, but next time Im in NYC and need hair love, Ill definitely go to Natural Sisters Salon!
I had my first experience at Natural Sisters yesterday and loved it! My stylist, Tiffany, was thorough in explaining everything from the products she was using on my hair to the pricing. I have had issues when getting my hair trimmed at other salons in the past, but I felt as if I could trust Tiffany from the beginning and walked away feeling great.
Great little salon! The staff were really friendly, the salon was comfortable but well designed, and the stylists were also very knowledgeable of natural hair as they advertise. I had Natasha as a stylist and she was very nice. You might get a little wet during a sink treatment but overall the salon was lovely, well priced for the products they used and my hair felt very soft when I left.
I had an amazing, even stellar experience here at Natural Sisters Hair Salon. Egypt helped me understand my hair more, as a professional dancer, it can be hard to know how to maintain my natural hair when im working out constantly. But he helped me to find moisture, identify better products for the health of my scalp and hair, and he made me feel comfortable for the first time in 3 years in a salon in New York City. I also love that this place is affordable! This was definitely worth the trip up to Harlem to help me figure out what is best for my hair.
Paunice did an excellent job with my hair. She was super kind and patient and she took her time and was gentle with my hair. Also she made me feel very relaxed and was very fun and engaging to talk to throughout my appointment. She even gave me a complementary hair steaming treatment. Definitely will make another appointment with her soon
This is my 3rd time at Natural Sisters salon and each time Ive come, my experience has been great. The team here is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Today my appt was with Jazz B. and from the introduction forward, she made sure I was comfortable and well informed - not only the state of my hair (pretty damaged) but also what steps she was taking while doing my hair. I initially made the appt for highlights but after evaluating my hair, she advised me that highlights wouldnt be the healthiest route & provided me with more options, answering any questions along the way. As I am transitioning and all of this is pretty new territory, feeling confident in who is handling my hair is very important to me. I will continue to come to Natural Sisters regularly and make any future appointments with Jazz B. specifically.
I just moved to NYC and it has been a struggle finding black hair salons (let alone NATURAL hair salons) with good reviews that are affordable. I googled and found natural hair sisters. I was booked with Egypt for my first appointment. Egypt was very professional, very efficient and told me exactly what my hair needed to be healthy, rather than trying to get me to rack up the price of my bill. I got flat twists and I was impressed with his work. I will be back again in a couple weeks and definitely recommend Egypt and the salon to anyone who is looking!
“The Weave Lounge Salon” is a rip off!!I can only speak on my wig installation (because that is what i had) My frontal was coming off my forehead before i got home. The glue they used did not work for me at all!!! They are also overpriced and unprofessional. My sister got the same service (done by Rae), just a few weeks after I did and they charged her $300!! Mind you, I only paid $130 for my service. Rae did an extremely TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE job! Angel (the stylist) was originally suppose to do my sister’s hair, but refused to do her hair because my sister was 15 mins late. I don’t think they are all professional hairstylists either....I will NEVER step foot in that salon...ever. My hard earned money wasted! It hurts, A LOT. Please do not waste your time, trust me! I know what good quality service looks like. I was too quick to trust that this salon would do an exceptional job, but i was wrong. Again, i can only speak on their wig install service. The manager is also unprofessional, which doesn’t make it any better. My sister called the salon days after she got her hair done to ask for a refund because she was wrongfully charged. Christine (the manager), acted as if she couldn’t hear my sister over the phone and said the phone was cutting. My sister ended the call only to call them back and they never answered. Christine should be FIRED! To whoever the owner of The Weave Salon is....Please, fire Christine, Angel & Rae!Can’t even support your own people and their businesses because this is how they do you.
Sooooo today was my first time here . I fell in love. Their stylists are amazing and their products are great. I got a silk press, trim and a treatment for a reasonable price. They welcomed me in open arms and felt really comfortable there. Reasonable prices, great service and wonderful products. You cant beat it. I recommend this place to everyone natural hair or not, its still a good place to treat your hair. They care a lot about your hair and I love that about them. 💞
I would love to give this establishment five stars but the hairstylist did not do what I asked for. I wanted about 2inches of my relaxer hair to be dyed bright pink for spring break. I was advised that it will break my hair. I let the hair dresser know that I was transitioning, and will be cutting off the dyed ends. She was adamant about not doing it and decided to apply a raspberry color that did not require bleaching. In the end, at least half of the length of my hair was dyed, which was way more than I wanted. She told me that the next time I came, she would cut my ends and once I was fully natural she would bleach it and dye it pink. The stylist knew I was doing a long term transition and cutting that much hair at once was not apart of my plan. I understand that stylist will offer their opinions but sometimes when you are paying that much money, it would be good to get what you want. The silk press was done beautifully though. I was also given a complimentary hydration treatment to compensate for the water running ice cold that day.
I had high hopes for this place but after visiting I was gravely disappointed. When I first arrived I was greeted by the receptionist who said someone will be with me shortly. I had an appointment with Egypt who is the only guy in the place so it was easy to spot him. He was nowhere near finished with his clients hair. Over one hour after my appointment time I was seen. Mind you, the entire time I waited no one apologized for the wait. When I got in the chair it was a super rushed job. I was hoping that the beautician would advise me on how to better take care of my hair and how often to return for trims, etc. I got nothing. I thought that by going to a natural hair salon I would have found stylists who are concerned with hair care but they were clearly just concerned with getting out in time. The stylist was not even finished with my hair and the receptionist was asking for payment. What a turn off! I will not be returning and it is such a shame because they would gained a loyal customer. Dont waste your time here.
Being that this was my first time coming, I was pretty skeptical but the staff was extremely welcoming as soon as I entered. Jasmine (my stylist) was not only fast but extremely informative on the style I was getting (since it was my first time getting crochet braids). She was down to earth and funny too. Ill definitely be returning. It doesnt feel like youre at any regular establishment, you feel at home. Thanks guys and Jasmine for a great experience.
I’ve been searching for a natural hair salon close to home for some time. Found Natural Sisters Salon on Yelp then started following them on Instagram for a while before I finally made it in. And let me say it’s the best decision I’ve made for my hair in a long time. I chose Andrea as my hair styist and went for a treatment, haircut and silk press. She did such an amazing job, I booked her again right after my first appointment for a two-strand twist. My silk press lasted straight up until my next appointment! No retouches or anything. And my hair is in such a great condition...no split ends and no heat damage. I highly recommend Natural Sisters Hair Salon in Harlem NYC if you’re looking for a salon that actually cares about the health of your natural hair. You will not regret it! I sure don’t and I intend to continue going there.
I thought I would have a better experience here than at other salons because of the good reviews, however, it was nothing special. In fact, I left the salon feeling very angry and frustrated at the fact that I told the lady who braided my hair what I wanted 3 times. I showed her a picture on my phone. They literally had a diagram with hair length and I pointed to exactly the length I wanted, which was short, and shoulder length. The sample braid she showed me seemed fine, however before I noticed, the whole back of my hair was braided to the middle of my back, below my bra strap. I thought, okay, Ill give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it needs to be longer in the back than in the front. Nope. I left the salon with hair that I did not want. Im giving her three stars because she was at least polite, and did not charge me for the extra length. As this salon is a bit farther than where I would usually travel to, I will not be coming back. I did not have the superb experience that these reviews had me expecting to warrant me going out of my way to come here again.
Thank you Paunice S.! My silk press came out swinging 🙌. The press lasted nearly two weeks and my curls bounced right back after the first wash. The cleanse and condition and trim left my hair healthier than ever (after 9 months of quarantine self care, I needed it). Thank you for listening and taking care of my precious hair.
I Absolute loved my experience with Jazz at Natural sisters hair salon! Always treated with so much care and respect. Not to mention, Jazz is an amazing hairstylist. I literally follow her wherever she goes. Everyone in the salon is extremely nice and helpful. Definitely worth a visit!
Excellent! Not only are all of the stylists skilled at treating and styling natural hair, their customer service was excellent! From warm greetings, taking your coat for you, welcoming you to their booth, to making sure you leave satisfied. It takes great skill to style natural hair, (I have 4c hair) and I am very pleased with my first experience! Leonore was my hairstylist! I will be back, next time with my girlfriends!
They need to make sure that their stylists do not agree to take on styles that they are not experienced with. Back in November, I set up an appointment to have my hair dyed lavender with a stylist who has never done my hair before. She put in the color but it ended up deep purple. Chemicals were constantly put on my scalp to try and get the right color. I was in the shop for about 3 hours--I have a shaven head. Towards the end, she then told me that I selected single-process color online (I couldnt see any other option that I could select for my length) and that my hair needed to be bleached platinum. I should have been told that from the start.I had someplace to be that night so I ended up leaving the shop with the purple color spotted on my head and my scalp was very sore. She said that I could come back in two weeks so that she can redo it but I did not feel comfortable with the idea. I wasnt pleased with her attitude either--she wasnt rude, but more so nonchalant and not very apologetic. She called back a couple weeks later but I did not want to make the same mistake.Ive been to this salon before and it was a decent experience, but this most recent one was horrible.
I have been patronaging Natural Sisters hair salon for three years now and I have a great experience time after time. My stylist Egypt is very conscious of the needs of my hair and advises me on styles for retaining length and achieving my hair care goals. I enjoy his professionalism and the care that he puts into maintaining my hair. His focus is both for style but more importantly the health of my hair. I would suggest this salon to anyone looking to have their cared for and maintained professionally.
I’m sure this place would be great for ladies with a loose curl texture or very thin hair. I have Afro textured, thick hair and went here for a silk in my search for a stylist in nyc. My roots were not straight in the end. A Remington hair straightener was used, which I have at home. Literally the next day my hair had already started reverted back. I can do better at home.Pros: I think for someone doing natural styles with their hair this place is cool, the stylist treatment my hair during the wash and condition treatment, but when it came to the actual styling I could have saved my money because the results were not as expected (meaning straight hair from root to tip).Edit: Also four days later I’m completely redoing my hair and retreating it because my hair is dry and there’s breakage at my ends.
This was my first time treating my dry natural hair and let me say the minute I walked in I knew it was where I belonged! The aura of the salon was very welcoming. All the products used in my hair smelled AMAZING and my stylist Yvonne was very gentle and super informative. I cant wait for my next visit!
I had one of the worst experience today at the Natural sisters salon in Harlem Sunday 7.7.2019.I scheduled an appointment with Imani at 1:15 PM to shampoo & blow dry and a second appointment for Senegalese twist with Jolie at 2:00pm. I arrived at the salon before 1pm. The receptionist ( Latisha ) assured me they shouldnt be any issue or long wait for my 2pm appointment. Imani started my hair at 1:30pm and she was done at exactly 2pm. I spoke to kwamie who was standing right by the register she claims that they will be a delay of 1 hour because she had to blow dry one of the client hair herself than braided. I went next door to get something to eat, came back in about 20 minutes. I went downstairs, waited until 4:15pm Jolie was still braiding another client hair.I spoke to Kwamie so that she can confirm how long my hair will take she stated about 7 hours, which means I will leave the salon at 12 am. Consequently I had cancel my appointment and leave the salon.
This was my first visit and Egypt was my stylist. He did an excellent job straightening my natural hair (first time in months) and was especially careful to ensure that I would not have heat damage. He also got me and out and I was especially appreciative since most shops usually have you there for hours and hours!
I came in on Tuesday after going to two Natural Salons, and felt at home. I was immediately greeted and asked what was I needed. I needed my hair done that day, but they kindly informed me that they were booked out for morning and evening appointments, and I was cool with this, a sign of good business. My appointment was set for Thursday at 10a. I got, Antoinette washed my hair, she was great, so accomodating/understanding to my crying baby who wanted to sit on me. She gently shampooed my hair. Then my stylist KC, came over after I steamed under dryer. Very cool guy with experience. Loved that he was knowledgeable of what was going on with the textures of my hair and how to treat it. He did a great trim and style with my hair. I came in for a silk press and he did well. Will be coming back to him.
Hello, I just had a fantastic experience. I am natural hair, and its been a while that I did not go to the hair salon for shampoo/ blow dry and trim because I did not find a nice a good one who knows how to take care of natural hair without burning your head to straight them .....Here are some points that I like from my experience at Natural Sister Hair Salon:1- I love the concept of the text/appointment.2- That might be utopia to mention it, but the salon is clean.3- Amber take care of me (she did a shampoo- blow dry- flat iron) and she was super professional and gentle.4- Panice (sorry if I am misspelling her name) tried my hair, she was also very professional.Another world, I highly recommend it, and I will come back for sure!
My first time at the Salon. My stylist was Tiffany S. She was great. Very friendly, informative and professional. She let me know what was wrong with my hair and how it could be fixed. She suggested products and answered all questions I had. I will definitely be going back.
I love this salon. The stylists are all exceptional and have great energy. I love that the focal point is healthy hair, as it should be. I came to get a bob by Egypt and even though there was a problem with my appointment he was able to accommodate me. He gave me an asymmetrical bob that looks so natural, everyone thought i cut my real hair. I will be coming back.
My mom and I both get our hair done at this salon and we absolutely love the shop and our stylist Andrea! She is very knowledgeable and conscious of our unique needs. My mom wears her hair in a silk press mostly and she has been growing healthy, flowing hair for about 1 year. I wear my hair natural (twist outs, flat twist up-dos, perm rods, etc) and I am pleased with how soft, long, and versatile my hair can be with her. As I mentioned Andrea is amazing but all the stylists there do great work (sitting under the dryer Ive seen it all lol).
I am VERY picky about who I let in my hair. I have been coming to NS for about a year and a half now. I needed help transitioning. Yvonne and Tiffany always hook me up! My hair is super dry but they’ve managed to moisten and soften it up so much. They are my go-to at the salon. If one is unavailable the other is there. They are absolutely amazing.
So I was really excited to visit this place as I haven’t found a good natural hair salon since I moved up north from Miami. A stylist named Egypt did my hair and he was very stand offish. I showed him how I wanted my hair cut and he proceeded to cut my hair way shorter than I asked him. I actually had to tell him to stop cutting. He also had to straighten my hair to cut it, how do you call yourself a natural hair salon and you have to straighten natural hair to cut it? Also, I asked for color like 2 weeks ago when I made the appointment and they didn’t have any color. I will NEVER go back.
Jazz B is absolutely superb!!!! Best twist out in Harlem!!!! But more importantly than that, she is an expert on what it takes to keep natural hair HEALTHY!! I came to her with dry damaged hair, but after her wash, hydrating treatment, and oils my hair is softer than its ever been in the natural state. I was seriously contemplating relaxing my mane before my appointment with Jazz B!!! Because of Natural Sisters, this sister will remain natural!!!! Highly recommend this place. Youll love it
Today was my first time at Natural Sisters Hair Salon. I showed my stylist (Paunice) a picture of what I wanted (mini two strand twist) and she did just that. I liked how she explained all of the products she was using on my hair and why she chose over the other products offered. I felt very comfortable asking questions and she held good conversation all throughout. The only complaint I have is that I was in there much longer than expected, but this was also my first time getting a natural style done at the salon (I usually do it myself). I would highly recommend the salon and Paunice as a stylist. Also, they play gospel music, which I love!!
I really struggled with the idea of leaving this review.I know the owners of Natural Sisters also own The Weave Lounge...So, I just can’t understand how salons under the same ownership can be so different. My experience last week at Natural Sisters really deserved one star. I’m being kind in this review to be honest.Although the quality of work was decent, the professionalism and upkeep of the braiding studio downstairs was...unacceptable to say the very least.I refuse to completely put the shop on blast by posting in detail the lack of cleanliness there, BUT just know that I don’t want to go back again for those reasons.I will continue to patronize The Weave Lounge, because my overall EXPERIENCE there has been positive. My message to the owners: make sure that ALL customers walk away from Natural Sisters pleased not only with the service...but their EXPERIENCE in the salon, and interaction with the stylists as well.
Wont be making a braiding appointment at Natural Sisters ever again. I traveled from Boston just to get my hair braided there before a big trip - shouldve just stayed home and rocked my fro. Poor service and unprofessional all the way around.I made an appointment a month in advance for a noon time slot with Jolie Bagate. Id seen braiding work that I wasnt a fan of on Natural Sisters Instagram, but the pics attributed to Jolie were exceptional, so I specifically chose her when making the appointment. The appointment request was accepted a couple days later, I called and responded to texts to reconfirm, and received text reminders of my appointment with Jolie. On the day of, I arrived at the salon a half hour early. The braiding manager asked what size and length I wanted. Turns out there is $40 or $80 surcharge for medium and small braids/twists that isnt advertised on their website. Wouldve been nice to know that ahead of time.I was asked when and with whom my appointment was for. Jolie and the other 4 braiders were still working on earlier clients, so the braiding manager set me up in a wicker chair with an assistant just to get me started. The assistant was nice, but she clearly was still learning how to do it. The manager had to come over twice, once to instruct her how to set up her station properly and the second time to show her **how** to install a twist. Not a reassuring start, but I was willing to be flexible until Jolie could take over. Two hours pass and Jolie is still with her earlier client and the assistant is slowly working on the bottom half of my head. And when I say slow, I mean slow. Someone came in 2.5 hours after me, got the same thickness and length that I requested and she still was out of the chair before I was! When one of the chairs opened up, they moved me to the open seat and Fatim began working on the front of my face while the assistant continued in the back. Then another stylist (Sophie?) took over for Fatim. My hair has absolutely no grid and the sections in the front arent even straight (Fatim kept using a hair clip to part my hair) because 3 different people worked on me from different vantage points. At hour 3, Jolie left the salon and never returned. No explanation, no apology, no acknowledgment that I had made my appointment with her and had been patiently waiting to have her take over. If I made an appointment with someone, I expect that person to actually work with me. If there was a conflict, my appointment should never have been accepted in the first place. In order to be a great salon, clients choices need to be honored - the relationship needs to be way more than just putting butts in seats.By the end of my 6th hour there, the third stylist was putting last finishing touches. She took out scissors and began snipping hair sticking out of the twist, paying no mind to whether it was synthetic hair or my hair! I complained and she apologized and said shed only cut the synthetic hair, but then she took out a lighter and applied it to my real hair at least twice! Whats the point of having a protective style when you burn your hair in the process?! And I literally had just gotten a trim the day before! In terms of environment, the braiders do a great job keeping the salon clean by routinely sweeping and mopping up any spills; however, their conversations are anything but professional. They rarely speak to their clients - mainly they joke and argue with each other in French. They talked about other stylists whove left the room, the low tip a client who just left gave them, and even made comments about my facial expression while I was sitting right there. One woman came downstairs angry about something and started cursing and they allowed a man to come down so he could hawk phones and tablets. If you dont take your business seriously, why should anyone else? Apparently, they didnt believe me when I said I could understand them.My suggestion? Spend your money someplace that cares about the health of your hair and the experience of their customers.
Hi, Good afternoon. I had walk in to get my hair and done and there was one person in front of me. The assistance was very nice and so was Jazz B the hairstylist who did my hair. I felt very comfortable and felt very good. They are very patient and they work with you and I am definitely coming back and make this my permanent hair salon, thank Jazz B. Monday, March 21, 2016
As a first timer, I really enjoyed my experience with Natural Sisters Salon. As busy as shops are on a Friday I was able to book a last minute appointment with their braiding manger. She did an incredible job on Goddess Locs. I just cant get enough of them.Theyre products are also great and smell so nice.I definitely will be returning to Natural Sisters in the future.
Today was my first time at Natural Sisters. As it was my first time in a salon in 2 years I was really worried but Jazz B was so welcoming (and hilarious) that the nerves were gone. I got a silk press and a trim. Jazz did a great job with my thick tangled 4c hair and gave me the trim I so desperately needed. The dynamic between the staff and other clients at the salon was just an added bonus. I was cracking up the entire time. Ill definitely be back~
I have been going to Natural Sisters Hair Salon every time I take out my protective styles for a little less than a year now. I went for my usual scheduled wash, blow dry, and trim. I had my hair done by a stylist (whose name I forgot) and she didnt treat me the best. She gave me a treatment I did not ask for so she could look at her phone and tried to charge me more at the end because of this. I was shocked as this was my first bad experience for the few times I have gone. At the end of my visit, I wanted my hair braided a specific way and politely asked her if someone else could do it. She asked the assistant manager named Egpyt to do it as he was more experienced. He proceeded to attempt to do the two flat twists and I asked him if he could do it tighter; he responded with Were not African... we dont braid that tight, which I feel was a direct jab towards me as I am Nigerian and he had heard me speaking on the phone in my language at some point during the visit. I reached out to Natural Sisters some time ago to express my dissatisfaction with not only the service but the blatant disrespect and they have not responded which confirms that they do not value their customers.
***2/28 EDIT*** I have a thing about feeling the love places I go for services and today I did not feel the love at Natural Sisters Salon. This is also my first time being in the salon while it was fully staffed... it wasn’t good. Client and Stylist time is WASTED because only one wash sink is functioning without flooding, not cool. This doesn’t not allow for a smooth experience at all. Other major issue was after waiting to get in the wash chair behind other clients/stylist(as to avoid a biblical flood) one bathroom is out of order and the “functional” bathroom is in shambles. There was no toilet seat and you can not securely close the door. These thing are fixable and shouldn’t have hindered my appointment with Paunice, but alas here I am! PLEASE FIX THESE THINGS! I don’t want to search for a new salon, truly I don’t. We are in the final hours of Black History Month don’t go out like that Natural Sisters....The gem up in Harlem! Paunice is one of most knowledgeable hair care professionals Ive been serviced by. My wash and go with detailed trim was gorgeously excecuted and easily maintained at home. The Natural Sisters team is very welcoming. Love this salon!
I have been to this salon twice in 6 months and I want to kick myself for not going more. The first time I went was my first time going to a naural hair salon and my appointment was with Dominique. She was incredibly knowledgable and explained the products she was using on my hair and why they were good for me. She also knew how to answer any questions that I had and was aware of the mistakes that many people make in following the routines of others when attempting to go natural. In addition, my flexirod set lasted multiple days despite the fact that it was an insanely humid week in August and my hair usually frizzes crazy fast. The second appointment was scheduled last minute, so I had to go with a another beautician, but Angel and Yvonne did not disappoint. I felt like there was extreme care in every step of the process from the shampooing to styling. I have tried other salons in the city, but none that I have been to even come close to my experience here and I will be sure to return more often!
My daughter left the salon in tears. Her first visit with Imani was great. No problems, and she was a very happy camper after leaving. Imani had no appointments available, so she was scheduled with Ragan. Shed never been under a steamer before and has always been natural, with the exception of a keratin treatment she had about 4 years ago. She has no clue as to how to dry and straighten her own natural hair. Hence the reason we go to salons... Well she apparently used the wrong word to explain that the steamer was set too high and bothering her scalp and services were abruptly discontinued. Although we didnt have to pay anything, she was sent away, back to campus, in tears, with no clue as to what to do with her hair. To make it worse, she had an event that evening. Going to the salon is not new for her and their response and abrupt cessation of services over the steamer being too hot for her was extreme. Shes never had a problem getting a silk press at a salon and is not new to beauty salons. We were hoping to make this a regular salon, but apparently not.
Natural Sisters Hair Salon is a great salon. Ive been going here for over a year now. They have wonderful products, that they make in house, which revitalizes and moisturizes your hair. Egypt recently cut my hair; hes given me the new look Ive been wanting. Im very pleased after every visit.
It’s very hard to find a salon that caters to protecting natural hair which is why I was so happy to find this place. Tiffany S. was so knowledgeable and gave me step by step instructions on how to care for my hair. The staff were all friendly and made me feel comfortable to ask questions. My hair feels great after just one visit. I’ll surely be back.
The first time that I went to Natural Sisters hair salon, I was really nervous. I had some problem areas on my hair that caused it to fall out so much. The staff was so kind and very helpful. Jasmine washed my hair, she did a great job. Then Andrea did my big chop, and boy was I nervous and ashamed at first. But Andrea reassured me that my hair would grow back. Then the second time that I went a young lady named Zyaire washed my hair. She was so professional. I told her of the problem areas on my head, and she took her time and massage my scalp. She did a wonderful job. Then Andrea started working on my hair. She told me that my hair was getting thicker and I was so happy😀. She is a wonder. Andrea does a fantastic job on my hair. If you have problem hair, she is the one to go to.💜😀
Ive never been to this salon and would never go based on the reviews. Im very particular about my natural hair as well and have been to many shops to try them out and have been very disappointed that our own people are so blase when doing our hair. We are on this journey together. CUSTOMER SERVICE MATTERS.Just because you can braid hair or use a hot comb does not make you a professional. In order to keep the client you need to get to know them and their hair. Make sure you give them tips on how to take care of their hair when they are not sitting in your chair.Dont worry they will come back. After searching for a naturalista I found one that is great. Ive recommended at least 10 people and they love her as well and faithfully see her once a month. There are other good naturalistas out there. Dont be afraid to ask questions. Do your homework and trust me you and your hair will get to greatness.
Really disappointed with my service. Mostly annoyed with myself for not speaking up but I ended up paying 120$ for a silk press and conditioner. My silk press isn’t falling flat and my roots are already curly again. I was told it was 55$ because my hair was ”shoulder length” but my hair barely falls mid neck. Also I was charged for a “detailed trim” when I wasn’t informed that I was receiving a detailed trim but what I thought was going to be a dusting. My hesitation to argue about the price was mainly because my stylist was very kind during my appointment, but unfortunately I will not return to the salon.
All of these stellar reviews are legit. The services that Ive received were so good that Ive been reluctant to write a review but this salon, mainly Andrea, deserve the praise. I have been natural for almost 5 years and had taken care of my hair myself for pretty much the entire time. I had a huge head of bleached, blonde curls and was looking to go dark. ASAP. After researching a bunch of salons, I tied in with a Yelp pal who ensured me that this salon was the real deal. I scheduled and went in for a consult ($20 for 20 minutes) with Andrea who was prompt, personable and knowledgeable about how to manage my hair. My appointment was the next day and let me tell yall - this young lady slayed my hair. I had a color with highlights, protein & honey treatment, steam treatment, trim, blow dry and silk press for such a reasonable price I was stunned at the end of the consult when I was quoted the price. The salon is clean, well managed and they respect your time. Theres no spending 10+ hours passed your appointment time waiting for an overbooked stylist to even look your way. Everything, inclusive of price is discussed beforehand. I did not experience any issues with hidden costs as a few others have mentioned. They make and use their own products that are nothing short of amazing. Icing on the cake - the music selection in this shop is like nothing Ive ever experienced in a salon. I cannot rave enough about the services that Ive received from Natural Sisters Hair Salon. Im not easily impressed but I had to fight back tears when my process was done. Andrea is a miracle worker. My hair looks amazing and Ive received so many compliments on how healthy and gorgeous it looks. Im a huge fan of this salon.
This was my first visit, one day before my birthday and all I can say is this is the best salon I have ever been to. I had the honor of having Egypt as a stylist and all I will say is he is officially my new stylist for life. If you want to look flawless, come to natural sisters hair salon. Everyone here is friendly and professional, I will be returning regularly.
After quickly removing a ponytail hairstyle, my stylists gave me a lovely wash, nurturing protein treatment, steam, and then a great detail cut. I left my hair it in a wash, shingle + go and I loved the results. On top of that the staff were all equally great and welcoming. Will be my new go to spot for sure!
This is my 2nd time at Natural Sisters Hair Salon and I saw Jasmine both times. From the minute I walked in, I felt welcomed and cared for by her. The energy and atmosphere is great in the salon. My hair feels soft and has grown a good amount between both services. No heat damage from this salon! The hairstyle lasted so much longer from past experiences at other salons. I will continue to visit this salon.
I have been going to Natural Sisters Salon for about 2 years. My stylist Yvonne is wonderful. She always is able to make my hair look great! She is also concerned about the health of my hair which I truly appreciate. The customer service is cut above the rest.I highly recommend this salon.
I come to Natural Sisters every two weeks like clockwork. Tiffany has completely transformed the health of my hair. Time and time again Ive seen her place the highest priority on keeping her clients happy, feeling special, and walking out the door with a gorgeous head of hair. Im so glad I found this place and if youre looking for a salon in Harlem, theres no one better than Natural Sisters Salon (and their sister salon across the street, The Weave Lounge)!
A week ago I went to Natural Sisters for a hair consultation. My hair was weak, breaking, and had no life. Andrea gave me the big chop which I was very scared to do. All in all, I am happy that I cut off all my hair and her helping me through the whole process with her encouraging and empowering words made the process easier and comfortable. Everyone in the salon was very professional and respectful and I am definetly going back. I also enjoy the natural care products that she gave me to maintain my hair and continue on a healthy path!
I have been going to Andrea for almost 2 years, and my hair has grown and gotten so much healthier with her! She is an excellent stylist and makes her clients feel special and taken care of. I highly recommend her and Natural Sisters if you are looking for a new hair salon.
This was my first visit but definitely wont be my last. I enjoyed my experience from beginning to end. From the professional and friendly Staff to the satisfaction of my choose of hair style (two strand twisted updo). The convenience of their Harlem location, and the multiple talents of these stylist will have any women feeling more beautiful at the end of her NATURAL SISTERS experience, but to make the experience complete make sure to ask for JAZZ B.
On my first visit my stylist was Diamond and she did a PRRFECT job. My braids were clean and immaculate. I didn’t get burned from the blow dryer or wet while getting my hair wash (which always happens).she told me everything she was doing and what she was using on my hair. Natural sisters really know how to take care of natural hair and prevent damage. I recommend everyone goes!!!!
First of all, I have never written a review for anything, so this is major.Second of all, I have very fine, delicate 4c hair, so I am nervous to try new salons incase the stylist is too rough. Anyone with hair like mine need not worry! Paunice took care of my shampoo, blow dry, and trim and I have to say she was thorough, gentle, skilled, and very personable. She was very sweet from the moment I walked in the door, and even gave me some tips about how to part my hair, how often to trim it, and even how to deal with my even finer edges. I would absolutely love to go again.
Im in love!!! First of all where can you go in Harlem to braid your hair and its clean? I found this place impeccably clean the staff very friendly not to mention my hair is on Fleek. The price is pretty good considering the quality. I got crochet raise the first time, and box braids the second time. I definitely will be coming back and I recommend Ashley and Sophie. They also hand out snacks on Saturdays since you probably will be sitting there for a long time, I think thats a good touch😃
Egypt is Amazing. I had a haircut and a silk press and I came out looking like a million dollar. The atmosphere is great and all the stylists are just sweetheart. If you want someone to take care of natural hair and make you look bomb, go to Egypt at natural sisters salon!
I had my first experience at Natural Sisters Salon and it was a lovely experience. Jazz B was my stylist and she was very open and honest with me about the condition of my hair. She gave me a much needed cut and styles my hair is a pretty halo braid. Will be back for sure.
Yvonne did a fantastic job with my hair. From the scalp detox, deep condition and twists- she was incredibly attentive and responsive to what my hair needed after being in braids for months. The conversation was entertaining and service impeccable-definitely woll be a regular client. :)
Andrea hooked me up! My hair was severely damaged but Andrea made me feel at ease about the proper course of treatment and gave me a gorgeous haircut and silk press that left my hair soft and bouncy. My hair felt and looked great. I kept getting compliments and I couldnt stop touching my hair lol. I really love this salon.
Y’all, I wanna talk about my stylist Diamond. Let me tell you about how much I APPRECIATE having a gem like that. I was supposed to have my appointment with someone else but she was tied up with another person and Diamond stepped in to look after me.I CANNOT be more thankful that she did! When I tell you that she took care of my hair like it was her own! I don’t wanna be sacriligious but this woman scrubbed my scalp how I imagine Jesus washed his disciples feet: thoroughly, with care and affection. She talked through my hair regimen with me. Answered all my questions, gave me advice, listened, was attentive to my needs and generally made me feel like the appointment was about ME (as it should be). I will always always always ask for Diamond if I need my hair done. What a gem!
Went to this place for the first time today and i couldnt be happier. Friendly staff, very easy to talk to hair stylist. They give you tips on how to keep your hair style for longer and they are SUPER gentle on hair and scalp. Will continue to come . My hairstylist (Weena) was very careful with my hair, she explained everything she was doing step by step. I recommend 100%.
**Update 8/27/2019**I had an appointment scheduled for weeks for Sunday 8/25. On the day of the appointment at noon, I received an email that my appointment was canceled. When I reached out to the salon, they stated the stylist was running extremely behind. I was empathetic and agreed to have the appointment rescheduled to Tuesday 8/27 in the evening (since Im a working adult). This morning, I receive a call from the salon stating that they need to reschedule my appointment yet again(!!). When I asked why, the receptionist said that the stylist was going to be behind and I would have a long wait. I told her that was unacceptable and she asked if she could call me back. While waiting on her call back, I received a cancellation text stating Appointment cannot be accommodated....; THIS IS UNPROFESSIONAL. Ive had more than a few individuals tell me that their experience at this salon has been unprofessional; however, until this week, I couldnt relate. I dont know if its the receptionist who needs a refresher on scheduling to allow the stylist the appropriate bandwidth per client or if the cancellation is pure BS; however, this is UNPROFESSIONAL. I have another appointment on the books for September that I will be canceling, as they are not reliable when honoring appointments.________________________Im definitely a hairs hair type of woman, so I take silk-presses very serious. LADIES, if youre looking for Atlanta quality hair care and silk outs in NYC, Egypt is the guy! Ive gotten so many hair compliments since going to him. He uses the flat iron, my natural hair has zero breakage, and my curls still bounce back after the silk-press....... Definitely a good look!!
Pretty good salon in Harlem. Transplants from outer-boroughs doing natural hair, weaves, and other hair care services. Pleasant atmosphere, and as it has been said, first impressions mean a lot. However, consistency is key. The owner definitely has the right idea, I hope her staff can assume the same customer-oriented philosophy. Ill check back in a year or so.
Came here again for my Silk Press and Trim with Paunice! Jasmine washed my hair and blow dryed my hair as I waited for Paunice. I was asking Ami (I hope I spelled her name right) about micro links and she was nice enough to have a consultation with me about how long did I plan on having my hair out and she truly gave me her honest opinion! Anyone else I would have gone to would have probably said yes just to make a couple of bucks! These people really do care about their clients hair!! I was telling Paunice I wanted my hair to be much more fuller around my edges and she suggested I use their elixir and take pictures of it to keep track of my growth process. This is my third experience here and I truly feel as if I will be coming here for a while. Also, my last trim was Dec. 2017 and she strongly advised me to trim my hair every three months. Also the communication between their salon across the street and Natural Sisters is very good! I love this place, also if you havent already, you need to buy their homemade products!
Everyone here is professional and attentive. My stylist Yvonne hooked up my flexi rod set and the other folks who washed, treated, and gave me a much needed cut, were all wonderful! Also, we all know timeliness is a crucial factor. In at 10, out by 1:15. No wait time between wash, treatment, rinse, blowout, cut, set, dry, and style. Thank you Natural Sisters!!!
Went to get a silk press and came out with tangled ends because my hair wasnt trimmed. It didnt look like any silk press Ive ever seen advertised. When I rescheduled for a trim, they tried to book me for other things. Im not trying to spend money on things that I dont want. I even called beforehand to ask if I should wash my hair for the trim, and next thing you know, I was scheduled for treatments and a trim. Plus another silk press.
This is the best natural hair salon Ive ever been too..... I live upstate NY and have been natural for 5 years I couldnt find a good natural salon until I googled top rated natural hair salon in NY and Natural Sista Salon came up with all excellent reviews . I said let me give it a try and Im so glad I did the service was excellent and the atmosphere was very comfortable, my stylist was Jasmine who did such a wonderful job, beautiful color and conditioned shingle style . When I left there I got so many compliments . This has now become my new hair salon and Jasmine is my new stylist . I will always travel the distance to go there and I highly recommend this salon and wonderful staff.
That was my first time there and Tiffany was very pleasant. Tiffany explains to me about the products that I purchase for my hair. That was nice of her to do that Thank you, Tiffany , also there was another lady there who was very pleasant I ask her about the detox product as well. I will make an appointment to get my hairdo done thank you, ladies.
I was very excited to get there for my app. but when I left I felt demoralize for the treatment. The stylist was not in the mood to continuing working for the day. The stylist was distracted and seemed to be in a rush. Then it was a issue with the hot water, there was no hot water. I asked for deep conditioner and he put on my hair while there was still shampoo in it. Then it took a while to heat up some water and rinse it out. And the hair cut wasnt what I wanted either. it is very, very, very uneven and it is not at all what I asked for. So,so disappointed.
I came in with such a messed up hair cut from another salon. I literally took a few days of my life, and cried over it. They were able to squeeze me in (on wine Wednesday no less) last min. KC and the other stylists came together and figured out a way to save as much of my hair as they could.I will never.... Never allow another shop to touch my head again. They make their own products, they do braids here with treatments before to protect your hair. I cant say enough about this shop and the amazing people here. Most importantly, they not only fixed my jacked up head, but they made me feel better about it. KC walked me through step by step, literally explaining not only what he was doing but why. He answered every question I had, and helped me make the best decision for my face (and skill set). I will be here for my protective styles to hair cuts and everything in between.
Googled this place a week ago, called and was booked promptly and professionally. I came in for my appointment, greeted so kindly by front desk and by Paunice’s warm beautiful smile. I waited little to nothing and was greeted by my stylist Egypt. Egypt communicated everything and made sure I understood the process. He checked on me frequently making sure I was comfortable. With that being said I received EXACTLY what I wanted with STELLAR HOSPITALITY from him. A most definite regular and rebook. Highly recommend this salon.
What more can I say about this place. First and foremost the staff was so inviting and the place was so clean. Even after arriving 15 minutes earlier than my appointment one of the young girls (she has two straight back cornrows) swept the floor 3 times! I was very impressed!I came in for my 1pm appointment last Thursday (12/13) for a silk press. I was greeted and was asked to sis a bit. My hair stylist Tiffany was with a client and said she’s be with me shortly. First let me tell you about Tiffany! Super sweet, efficient and most importantly so well informed. She asked me numerous questions about my hair care regimen and could even tell that I wear too many ponytails.(I’m working on it). She game me numerous tips, tricks, and pointers to help me not only minimize breakage but be on the path to retain hair growth. Every time she did a new process she walked me through what she was doing or using, gave me reasons behind it, all while continuing to educate me on my current process and why it may or may not be working. Being that I only straighten my hair on my birthday i was truly blessed that she was the stylist chosen for me! I learned so much from her in a few hours. Not only was she educational but she was so efficient! If she sat me under the dryer, she was working on someone else. She’d then put another person under the steamer then wash me out. She was constantly moving!!! She only sat down for like 2 seconds! I appreciate that she could understand that no one wants to be in a salon all day.Not only was I pleased with my turn out, i truly enjoyed myself that afternoon. You can tell the staff really cares about each other and loves each other. Everyone was in a positive mood from what I could see, laughing and singing. Did I mention there was a hot playlist??? So many good hits! If anyone needs their hair done RIGHT please go to NSHS. Ask for Tiffany! (Or Yvonne, from what I could see she is a magician at twists and roller sets!)
My first experience at Natural Sisters Salon was incredible, which is why it is disheartening to leave this scathing review. The service can be a bit pricey, but I returned a second time because I had a pleasant experience during my first visit.I typically wear kinky twists for close to two months and during my salon visits I rack up on shampoos, a steam treatment, and trim to keep my hair healthy while theyre in the synthetic twists. My second trip the salon this past weekend was so poor, I am still upset about the lack of professionalism and subpar results of my style. I arrived on time for my appointment, but there was confusion at the front desk about who was supposed to get me started. Finally, a shampoo assistant washed my hair and deep treated my tresses, all the while having an innapropriate discussion with another assistant about the various ways she didnt follow the rules at the salon and could never move up. Fine. She blowdried me and was pleasant.I was then sent downstairs to have my hair braided by who I assume is the lead braider. She was 2/3 of the way done with her client but told me my appointment with her wasnt for another hour and a half. Mind you, when I booked my appointment, I was not told that my appointment would have such a large gap (red flag 1). I always come prepared so I ate my lunch and started working on my laptop to pass the time.I was finally in the chair and demonstrating the length and style I wanted from my last appointment when another braiding stylist had expertly twisted my hair. My new stylist agreed and we began. Or at least I though that was the plan. Interruptions of walk-in clients, disputes about money, and the ongoing loud talking in French and passionate arguments ensued. She continued to get up and leave and apologized several times for having to leave. What should have been a 4 - 4.5 hour appointment, took roughly 8 hours in total. It was so loud and unprofessional I had to take my business calls in the bathroom on breaks as I did not anticipate being at the salon that long. I had to ask several times for my stylist to not braid my hair too tight and to be more gentle with parting and combing my hair (which she attemted to do with a small rat tail comb, a huge no no for kinky hair). My style was not what I wanted but will have to be stuck with for at least a month. For the price point of the salon, and the care they purport to provide (and which I received during my first visit) I expected much more than this highly unprofessional experience. Perhaps there was a cultural gap as I understand Africa-based braiding salons have their own way of doing things, but I had two very different experiences and wont be back. I have a few friends who mentioned that theyve had similar issues with the salon and have yet to return.I hope they speak with their staff about setting an environment that is professional and caring to the client. Otherwise, its just another hair mill where cash is king and the overall hair care of the client is disregarded.
My experience was AWESOME!!! Thanks to the Amazing Evaughn, who was my stylist. This was my Very first time in a salon in years since I went Natural. So I was super Nervous, because I am typically Not a fan of the negativity that goes on a lot at shops. I went in for Starter locs...and was able to ask a million questions on the phone, then a Million more when I came..and Evaughn just had such a Positive Spirit about her. She was very informative and made sure that I was comfortable with the whole process. She works very fast, yet neat and precise. I was totally pleased with the outcome of my hair, and have already recommended my family and friends; and it has only been 2 days.Thank you again to the Amazing staff at Natural Sisters Hair Salon!!
My experience at Natral hair sisters was amazing. From the time I step through the door everyone was so friendly , and personable. I got a color , trim, and silk press . Casey was my stylist , I enjoyed conversating with him , I was very impressed with his knowledge about hair care. I walked out feeling soooo good , and looking simply gorgeous. Ive already scheduled my next appointment. Thanks to all for an enjoyable experience. 👍
I came here for the first time with my sister just yesterday and we have both decided to become long term clients of Paunice’s! ✨ it was my first curly cut and i was so nervous but everyone made us feel so welcomed and Paunice did a phenomenal job with both our hair, and took as long as she need to to get a cut that would suit me; you can tell that she is truly passionate and dedicated to her craft. not to mention my hair smells incredible! this place is just perfect and would highly recommend it to anyone ♥️ top quality service & do’s! go to natural sisters!
I went in for a wash and trim because I just wanted a break from doing my own hair! I was greeted with smiles and positive energy from the moment I walked in. Paunice was my stylist and she was very kind and informative. I’m in love with how my hair looks and feels and I will definitely be returning!
I came in for a consultation which was FREE. Unlike most shops around they tried charging me $75-100. I was kind of hesitant with pricing and the environment. However, To my surprise they had a private area to view my hair and everyone was super professional. Not only ate the prices reasonable but the quality of my hair was EXCELLENT. Id recommend any natural Gyal to come here!!!!! Jasmine is my stylist by the way and shes GREAT!!!!❤️
Ok, Im excited to write this review and Im mad at myself for not writing one before. So I literally left Natural Sisters Hair Salon a couple hours ago and may I say Tiffany S. slayed!!!!! Im so happy with the outcome of my silk press w/ trim and treatment. My hair smells fresh, feels good, looks good it bounces full of volume its EVERYTHING I was looking forward to. Natural Sisters Hair Salon does it all the time for me I always leave happy. Tiffany is very informative when it comes to your hair shell tell you the dos and the donts as far as what your hair needs and tips on what you should be doing for your hair and I definitely appreciate that it shows she really cares. Thank you Tiffany and thank you Natural Sisters.
The staff at Natural Sisters Hair Salon made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. Zaire shampood my hair and let me know what products she thought would work best for me. She offered treatments and was transparent about prices and options. Jasmine detangled and blow dried my hair on low heat, making sure to talk me through each step. Paunice took her time to detail trim my hair and it has never felt so moisturised. She is really knowledgeable about hair with a lot of experience, she made me feel comfortable immediately. Id highly recommend the salon and Paunice in particular.
Thanks to Egypt, my dry damaged colored ends are trimmed and moist. I love to tonic spray . I love my results. See yall in 2-3 weeks. Great customer service and pleasant atmosphere! My first time here and I am recommending this salon to all my natural and non natural sistas !!!!! Thanks again
Finally found a natural hair salon. Everyone is nice and easy going. I Got a Silk press and treatment. My hair is back on the path of recovery. My Stylist was Jazz B, shes very experienced and educated me on my hair, I loved my press, love love love it. Salon highly recommended great staff.
I had a 10 am appointment, the stylist didnt show up until 10:17 and started my hair at 10:30. She did finish fast tho, that is the only good thing I have to say. Also you have to pay for the hair and taxes, so expect to pay $20 or more upon their advertised price. Honestly, it wasnt worth the trip to Harlem, the service here wasnt better or cheaper than in Brooklyn.
This is my 3rd time coming to Yvonne for a flexi rod set and as usual, the service is amazing. She’s super polite, attentive and VERY knowledgeable of natural hair. Every time I leave the salon, I feel like a new woman because Lord knows my hair can be untameable at times. All in all, I always come back.
I made an appointment to get a silk press, and the stylist (andrea) refused to do my hair if i wouldnt let her cut the dead ends. i was confused, so she brought another stylist over. they explained the situation to me, in a condescending way. i told her in the nicest way possible that i didnt trust her to care for my hair properly, because she wears weave. i know my hair is damaged, but why would i put my trust in someone who depends on lace fronts. the other woman who was later brought over, actually told me she shaved her head and put a wig on top. seriously... they both had wigs on, and told me they keep their natural hair short cause they want it like that. which doesnt make any sense. why would you neglect your natural hair and wear a lace front, instead of growing your natural hair, to be as long as the wig youre wearing. i call bull. in conclusion why would i take anything they say seriously, and let them chop my hair. pass!EDIT - responding to the owners reply. It doesnt matter if they are certified, when your stylists wear weave to avoid having to deal with their natural hair. Shaving your head and then slapping a wig on is not normal. Its sign that youre frustrated with your texture. Why would I trust someone to cut my hair, when they cant even care for their own. And on top of that try to lecture me. What a joke
Jazz B took time and paid expert attention to my hair care needs. She made sure to connect with me as a consumer, my likes and paid specific care to the things that mattered most to me. My scalp is thoroughly cleansed and her scalp massage is EVERYTHING!!! I cant wait till my next visit!
This was my first experience at a Natural hair salon. Ive been natural for 3 years and very glad I found this salon. The atmosphere is amazing, everyone is friendly, the music is wonderful and there prices are very reasonable. I had came in for a haircut since my ends were looking fried, got a deep conditioning treatment and flat twist. I booked my appointment with Jasmine (who is extremely wonderful) and she took her time to get to know me and my hair. Jasmines vibe is just wonderful, I love her. Usually at salons, you come in, they sit you and you pay for the service with no interaction or small conversation. At natural sisters its different, you feel welcome, they do everything to make you feel comfortable. My scalp feels amazing and my hair feels healthy! Overall, if there were more stars to give I would give it more.Thank you so much Natural Sisters salon. I would be a returning regular customer after today!
I went in yesterday 9-18-18 for a color consultation with Paunice. Overall the experience was pleasant. Paunice is very knowledgeable when it comes to color- having over 30 years of experience but my only complaint is not with the stylist it has to do with consultation procedure. I don’t believe it’s right to charge a client for a consultation and not apply the fee to the service if the client decides to go ahead with the service. I have never been to a salon that does this. If a client decides to go elsewhere then a fee should be applicable otherwise the $20 should be negated from whichever service the client decides to go ahead with. Other than that I love this salon, enjoy the vibe, and can’t wait to see how my color comes out. Bless.
This is not the place to go for an experienced hair stylist. Do not be deceived! The hair stylists are not professionals. They have issues with booking and professionalism. The braids are done downstairs by other stylists. The braids I saw looked good and I thought, maybe I should have gotten braids. The stlye floor is very cramped. There is literally not very much work space. The are very poor managed as there were ceiling lights out and dust behind the dryers. The ceiling fans must not have been working either, because the receptionist opened the door to let air in because she was hot. (In the WINTER!) Although Egypt is a nice guy, he wasnt very knowledgeable about the different types of hair for weaving and style up keep. He never offered me a mirror when he finished my hair! I left the remaining amount of hair that I didnt use, which, looked like a half of bundle and he didnt even bother to make sure if I wanted it or not. I didnt get a call saying that, I had some hair left and did I want to come back and get it, either. There are a lot of reviews on this place, some are very discouraging. After my experience here, I can see where some of them might be true! They hang your coat in a community closet and you can pick your coat up or they hand it to you when you leave. One review said, that her purse was stolen, well it may have been! This place is constantly flowing with people from clients to staff AND EVEN PEDDLERS! They just walk in off of the street! Some of them dirty, smelly and nasty. Im was surprised at this, as most places have peddlers be approved by the owner. I am a certified public critic. So manager, get your A game up and its off to 3 stars you go!
Sr Stylist Jazz B was able to get me in her chair for a cross country hair emergency. She started on time and actively attended to my hair the entire time that I was in the salon. The salon has several different stylists...most had clients that completed their service with a fly style. (Note: Beware of some of the braiders at the end; the quality is a little inconsistent; Sophie is great!) Make your way to Harlem for great service and a great style at a great price!
I was super excited to visit natural sisters for my birthday. I was on a new agenda to only support black owned businesses, and if I’m spending 200 dollars for my style I expect my hair to be flawless. I wanted to make sure the weave blended with my natural hair in terms of color , therefore I called and they told me to meet with my stylist, cool. I meet and they didn’t ask to see my hair to make sure it matches, they just stated after my hair is twisted down it will match. Hair appointment comes and they put this “shine” on my hair which had my scalp burning. Cool I’m in the chair and they starts braiding my hair, then the installing the thread was being pulled way too tight through my braids. Then he untwisted my hair and just sent me on my way. There was no attempt to blend and i once stated my discontent and he just fluffed my natural hair if that made everything better . When women get straight weaves there’s so much effort made to assimilate and blend, but for my hairstyle there was lack of effort. I looked in the mirror and I wanted to scream and cry. I was so furious but I had to tell myself I’d try to fix it myself, it’s been less than a week and my scalp burns so bad and the Color DOES NOT MATCH. I only asked to see if I could dye the hair to match my own. The color is so off, and the tracks are already coming out while pulling on my hair. I didn’t want to have to write this but my experience was terrible. For 200 dollars I didn’t expect such a subpar job.UPDATE!!!! -Here’s a negative update to my already negative experience. I would love not to slander any business, however, this business has terrible customer service. They replied on google for the internet to see that they would respond to any email while “providing a complementary deep conditioner and a do over by a chosen stylist”. I emailed them, they never responded. I called, no manager present. This is ridiculous. I really hope that this review gives you an idea in retrospect the business you’re spending hundreds of dollars at.
Fantastic service and quality. I was new to the area and I found Natural Sisters via Yelp. Jasmine turned my naps into a managed weave and I have been receiving compliments all day since I have left the salon. I will definitely be making the trip from Brooklyn to Harlem every time because my hair feels healthy and smooth now.
I feel more than disillusioned disappointed. After looking for and looking for a natural hair salon in New York I found this salon on social networks I was very excited for the first time to do my hair in the United States I was happy I made my appointment. I asked to go with Pauline because when I went To see the place I felt the connection with her. Well, they did not put me with her but with another person I made my appointment Sunday at 2:00 pm I arrived at 1:45 pm waiting for my turn and very stupid I wait wait and nothing turns out that the receptionist made the appointment with another person and another room but he did not clarify it to me, in addition to waiting for that while there was an hour later, Pauline very kindly started washing my hair I put a treatment and I go to the dryer but 1 minute later the girl tells me look you have to go to the other room why your date is not there, my God could not believe it, I was supposed to receive a confirmation that I never received. ok when I arrived at the other place that is a lounge I did not get heat to the treatment I rinse my hair and point I just took me to the chair I felt my hair rough, like toasted and even so I said I want a tip cut and shape the Afro did what I wanted to then use a foam and turned my hair around and according to her that was shingling hahahahaha what she does not know that I take 3 years to the natural I know all those terms thatbera everything but shingling, shingling is curling the Curl hair by curl. My hair was a mess. but the bad thing was not only that the most good part of my disappointment came, he charged me $ 105 for nothing and made me rather force a cream for 20 dollars where on the page they sell them at 16 dollars I saw the face of a millionaire will be My husband was very upset with me and told me that it was an abuse and that I never ever set foot in that very cool place and for nothing professional I know how to do my hair except cut the back but I had more experience than her, hahaha and palmo was surprised when I told her my texture is 4c or those terms she handles. I never hope they never go through that and apart from that they tried to charge me another amount of money in the other place for the first shampoo they gave me is to say a robbery they made me hope this doesnt stay that way
Wow, I could not be more satisfied! So far, I have been here three times and have received excellent treatment from Paunice, Egypt, and Ashley. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeble about hair care and Natural Sisters products. I have THICK and short 4C hair and Paunice has been amazing in helping me out! She takes her time, answers all of my questions, has given me really good advice and were already seeing a difference in my hair health and growth. I feel like I found a hidden gem. I struggled for so long to find the right products and hair care routine but now I am finally seeing a difference. I am so grateful, thank you!
I am so happy, I came here. I have been on this natural hair journey for 6 + years and could never get my hair styled right so I weared wigs and braids. Thanks to Tiffany Sylvester I am embracing my hair and find it a whole lot easier to style after her flawless trim and treatment. She is a professional and excellent beautician.
I experienced Natural Sisters 3 tines. Each visit I was with Tiffany. With me being a silent tender headed natural-nista; she was very professional and gentle with my hair. She walked me through every portion of the work she was performing. She also recommended several products which would be useful for to purchase if I desired to do so. I would absolutely recommend this salon to anyone. One Lil bitty issue...they’re a tad costly. But I will admit that they give you your monies worth. And their take home products are divine.Keep up the awesome work and consider occasional discounts or Groupon deals, please. Thanks for the pleasurable experiences.
Paunice is such a sweetheart and the ladies here are phenomenal. They show so much love to their clients and it feels very homely once you get in the salon. I got a cut and blow from Paunice. My cut was great but the blow afterwards left me frizzy the rest of the day. If you have naturally tight curled hair this is the place for you. If youre looking for a blow that leaves your hair bouncy and straight maybe not this place. I loved my cut though so thats why I give 4 instead. Nonetheless these ladies know what they doing in everything else and recommend!
My First experience at Natural Sister Hair salon was AMAZING! The staff members were very pleasent so relatable. Today I had gotten a silk press and I am Impressed beyond measure you guys. I have never seen my hair this silky and fully of body since I first became natural. I really do recommend this salon to anyone. They take care of clients with natural and relaxed hair, they also participate in Hair braiding, trimming and styling.
After reading many positive online reviews and consulting with a close friend whod been here before, I was confident that I would have raving reviews as well. By the time I left the salon, the trim I had asked for became a haircut. I have been growing my hair out for 4 months. I have not put any heat on my hair to intentionally increase its health and growth. I massage my scalp every night and deep condition once/week. The stylist who shampooed my hair vouched for my ends and my hairs health by saying that they were in good shape. When I sat in the stylists chair, I emphasized that I only wanted him to take off what was needed. He then proceeded to give me a hair cut instead of a trim. What took me 4 months to grow took him 15 minutes to destroy. I am devastated and wont recommend this salon to anyone else.
I used to love this place. The only hair dresser I ever trusted with my hair and actually took great care of it was Tia. My hair flourished with her unfortunately I don’t think she’s there anymore and the place has taken an unfortunate turn. The hair dresses there just came off as just wanted to get as much out of you as possible and one time they even charged me extra for something that was priced cheaper. I’m a $10+ tipper so I was quite offended by the fact that the hair dresser that day tried to rob me. I never went back. Tia if you’re reading this let me know where you at?!!! Lol
I went to this salon in August of 2017. I wanted box braids. The large ones with triangle parts. My stylist Fatima clearly knew how to braid but in the end didn’t give me all triangle parts. She said she would use my photo as a guide. I had showed her a girl I found on Pinterest with the exact style I was looking for. I don’t have much experience with box braids. Growing up I was only allowed to braid my natural hair no extensions. This was my first time getting extension braids. So she braided them bigger than I would have liked and didn’t part all of the braids in triangles basically implying that she couldn’t do that. But I’ve seen a lot of women around NYC with the style so I’m not sure why she couldn’t do it. And ultimately once I took the braids out my edges had come out some. I’ve never had issues with my edges so I was mortified. I would not recommend having hair braided here. She used gel on my natural hair before adding the extensions every time she parted a section. That may be why my edges broke off but I’m just guessing. In the moment I assumed that was how it’s always done. And maybe it is. But that can’t be good for hair. As the braids pull down on the root. So I suggest anyone be very careful if you decide to get braids done here.
Ive been a custumer for several months and also invested in their hair products which are great, unfortunately I DO NOT recommend their braiding services. Went to have my braids removed and one of the braiders pulled my hair out. All they said was sorry and offered a complimentary service. ...SMH....This is not acceptable because I now have to deal with the hard work to regrow my long hair due to one of their employees ignorance, stupidity and lack of hair care knowledge.
MY GO TO PLACE! I was referred by a friend who gets her her done with the crew over @naturalsistersalon. Here is what I have to share so far about them:PRODUCTS: I really liked their products. I’ve been using the mousse for my curls and I love how light it makes my hair feel. I also use the growth oil and have noticed how my hair is healthy in the past 5 weeks. I also like their leave in. I haven’t tried the shampoo and the Argan oil yet but I am planning on it.CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have had more luck setting up my appointments in person. I’m not a huge fan of being on standby on the phone. But after being there for a day getting my hair colored I get it since they are SUPER BUSY. So if you call, plan on being patient :). That being said, I would recommend an online booking system to make the experience frustration free. Once you book an appointment though, it’s super easy. They will txt you with a reminder and a link to confirm your appointment. While you are there you will have a good time and be treated well.FLEXI RODS: I LOVE getting flexi rods! My go to person is IG:@vonniedidit. She is GOOD!!! Her hands work magic on my hair. She is thoughtful and very professional.COLOR: I had my hair colored for the first time. I was super anxious about it and had an appointment with IG: @tiffany_hair4dayz. TIffany was amazing. She treated me like a princess and really took her time on figuring out the right colors for my hair. As she did my hair she explained what she was doing and have me tips on how to fix my hair on my own. Not to mentioned she had hurt her anckle and still came to work to take care of me. She is so passionate. You won’t go wrong with her. Both My girls are true artist who love what they do.I definitely recommend this team!!
Tiffany gave me a beautiful haircut and an informative consultation. She worked wonders with my hair. I would recommend her hands down. The salon was pleasant and kind with a great playlist. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I am so glad I went there. Thank you, Tiffany!------- Camille Sims
The BEST customer service, bar none. The staff is incredibly friendly and vibrant, a great atmosphere. Angel was SO helpful and knowledgeable-- I was in the chair IMMEDIATELY and my hair was photo shoot fresh after. Ive seen a dramatic improvement in the texture and health of my hair since visiting this salon a year ago. Highly recommend!
I was super worried going into getting the sill press at Natural Sisters. I had no idea what to expect. I was just worried that I would end up with damaged hair after having been natural for 2+ years. But thanks to Mika, my experience was amazing!!! The salon is clean, the hair stylists are super welcoming. Mika talked to me every step of the way, explaining what she was doing and the products she was using on my hair. I ended up buying some of the products at the end of my visit. I loved the feeling that my hair was accepted and treated kindly, something I never felt going to a Dominican Salon. After the silk press,I feel like a movie star and without fearing any hair damage. Thanks Natural Sisters and Mika. I highly recommend this place!! I will certainly be coming here again and recommending this place to friends and family.
Kudos to Egypt. Even though this was my first time at the salon, I felt very welcomed by staff. Sitting in his chair, I knew my hair was in good hands. He explained the type of treatment needed for my hair. I love how he gave me tips on how to better care and manage my natural hair. One thing that stood out to me was the detangling process😱, it was so quick and PAINLESS. I received a protein treatment, silk press, and trim. He has slayed and laid my hair to the Gods. I love the atmosphere and will definitely be back. Cant wait to see the results of the Elixer😊😊😊.
Ive been natural for a year a and 7 months and besides getting braids I have never been to a natural hair salon. I have to honestly say they definitely have a customer for life. Ladies you will not be disappointed, the prices are great and the staff members are great at what they do. Chrisante will definitely be my new stylist for life.
Came all the way from mount vernon to harlem to get my hair cut off, searched all over google for a natural hair salon. Found this place, read the positive reviews and booked my appointment . My stylist was Jazz B, shes absolutely amazing . Real welcoming and gentle.. The salon itself is really nice, positive energy. Love my cut too 😆
I went to Natural Sisters for a much needed style and cut, which ended up a disaster but the quick willingness of Jazzy B made my experience at Natural Sisters one of success, not only because my new look is fabulous but her willingness to go the extra mile to make me happy showed professionalism not only for the salon, but me as a new client. I finally found a stylist that gets me and my needs. Love you Jazzy B:),Sincerely Debbie
I stumbled across this Salon after getting $500 estimates to loc my hair. I honestly was going to give up on the idea but thankfully i came across Natural Sisters who had reasonable prices and natural products ( which is what i was looking for as well). Despite having to end up doing two strand twists in order to start the locking process due to my hair texture, i trusted Ivonne. She knew all the products well and what they consisted of since she herself helps prepare them. I was not bothered at all that my appointment lasted longer than i expected all the employees were funny and friendly. I look forward to my loc maintenance next month with Natural Sisters. Fyi i usually never give feedback but i know this can be helpful.
This review is for The Weave Lounge, their sister salon.I like to think of myself as a fair person, and I actually give much thought before giving negative reviews, especially as it pertains to black owned businesses. For the second time, I made an appointment and I received a voicemail that the appointment had to be rescheduled. So, imagine my surprise when I receive a call a day before to comfirm. I acquiesce that I did indeed confirm, but the call came in the middle of me handling a pressing matter at work, so I did not put it on my calendar. Fast forward to 10:20 ish Saturday morning. I recieve a call from the salon - totally forgot, and they are charging me for the full service. Okay. I mention I can be there in 15 minutes, and I am willing to receive half the service since theyve already charged me as the receptionist claimed they set aside 2 hours for my appointment. She checks with the stylist (without muting the phone so I clearly overhear the conversation), who laughs and says no maam.Even after I explain the back and forth with the salon telling me that I would have to reschedule the appointment, she says that they cant do it. Asks me condescendingly if Im crying (I wasnt). I end the call - livid.I call back and speak to the manager who happens to be the stylist, who informs me that the charging for the full service is at the liberty of the salon and that she doesnt know who I spoke to about rescheduling. I offer to send the voicemail. But wait, her appointments had to be rescheduled because she had medical issues and shes already called a client to fill my spot. But they must take the liberty of charging me because that empty chair would mean lost business. Sure. So youve set aside two hours for my hair, but cant perform a 40 minute service while being paid the full amount. Must be nice.
I had been going to Natural Sisters for about 1 year for texturizer touch ups. Then, in May 2017, I scheduled another texturizer touch up with Lenore. Everything was going well, until she began applying texturizer on the entire length of my hair even though Id only asked for a touch up. I addressed my concerns to her, and she assured me this would not damage my hair. Unsurprisingly, she was wrong. Since then, my hair has broken off significantly. I emailed the salon twice for any tips they might have on how to stop breakage, and they never responded. I wasnt asking for a free treatment or a refund, just advice. And yet, even though one of their stylists causes my hair to break, they never bothered to respond. So, I would recommend avoiding Natural Sisters due to their shabby customer care, but if you must go, please DO NOT WORK WITH LENORE. She doesnt understand basic notions of hair care.
New client at the salon, so of course I was a bit apprehensive. My hair is natural and it was my first time getting a silk press. A gentleman named Albie did my hair. This was also the first time a man has done my hair. Albie was great and quite a character (I mean this in the nicest way). He had me laughing. But more importantly, he knows just what hes doing which made me feel comfortable. He was also informative. The products he used in my hair made my scalp feel tingly and refreshed. My hair looks and feels amazing. Ive received many compliments. The entire staff was welcoming and kind. They made me feel at home. The salon is cute & tidy. I paid a reasonable price. Ive already referred family & friends. Ill be returning and look forward to trying other styles at the salon. #AlbieBack ;-)
I love Tiffany. She does both me and my mom’s hair. She really has a great understanding of hair care, color, and cut. You know when u find someone who really loves their job and teaching you how to care for your hair...YAS! Excellent service, knowledge, and professionalism!
I went here worried about how my hair will look but Egypt was a huge help. He took his time explaining to me what would be best for my hair and also gave me tips on managing my hair. I got the silk press and a trim and it looked fabulous!!!!!!! I was scared about cutting my hair but the results are worth it. I will definitely be returning.
**Repost from my first visit 7 months ago**Tiffany is my new hair stylist!!❤ I always leave the salon with my hair slayed!!💇🏾♀️ Im deciding to go natural and shes helping me through my journey. Tiffany is very knowledgeable and thats what I need, shes all about hair care. The salon has a warm and friendly environment....I highly recommend!!
Natural Sisters Hair Salon gave me the confidence to love and wear my natural hair! Ive been wearing weaves and protective styles since my teens because I was ashamed of my kinky 4C coarse hair. I tried several salons, Domincan, Puerto Rican, African, and American and my hair would look nice for the day, but would break off due to the heat damage. I booked an appointment with Andrea the day before Easter and told her about my hair woes. Andrea gave me a taper cut, a bomb shampoo and deep condition, steam, and silk press. I couldnt stop looking in the mirror! I finally saw ME and I loved it! Ive been going back ever since, and while I stopped getting the silk press, Im rocking a fully natural tapered cut. The service here is excellent. Be on time for your appointment, you will be greeted and seated as soon as you walk through the door. There is a smooth transition between wash, steam, dryer and styling. You will not have to wait to be serviced. Youll be in and out 2 hours tops. Also the vibe of the place is so chill. I love their song playlists!
Ive been searching the Internet for a Salon that does the Janet braids. I saw their Instagram page(@naturalsistersalon) and was pleased with their great work. So I decided to call them and scheduled an appointment, I spoke to a lady name Kwamie who set up my appointment. I went in the following day and the place was lovely. I experienced some African Hair braiding salon that are not well kept and have a unpleasant smell. But, this place was absolutely fabulous. As I walked in I was greeted and the aura was pleasant. I am very tender headed so I explained to the lady and she took her time. The braids were tight but not tight where its unbearable. My hair is very neat, I am a beyond satisfied would definitely come back to this place. Thanks Ladies!
Even after explicitly stating to the hair stylist that I dont put heat on my hair and all I need is a wash and braid, i was put under the dryer for an unnecessary amount of time. I am fully natural and was just looking for a quick protective style and that proved to be such a hard task to do. Not sure why a shop that has natural in its name wouldnt moisturizer hair while wet. It was only after I questioned why and that my hair should be properly moisturizer that she hesitantly agreed to do so. Its 2 days later and I unbraided my hair and its ridiculously dry and looks horrible. Will NEVER visit this place again.
Awesome, friendly, informative and professional salon! Ive been seeing stylist Tiffany S. at Natural Sisters Hair Salon for my natural hair care for almost 3 years but it feels like so much longer! She is so knowlegeable, professional with outstanding talent and wonderful personality! I would definitely recommend this salon 👍👍
I did my hair there yesterday! Incredibly awesome customer service! I had many questions and they answered it all. I didnt feel like I was bothering them...they were really kind, friendly and professional. They did the style I wanted, the products they use seem to have an amazing effect on my hair. Really shiny and manageable. Very professional!
There is one word to describe my experience at Natural Sisters Hair Salon, PHENOMENAL...Everyone was professional and inviting. Jazz B made me feel extremely conformable during my new experience getting a silk press. I am so pleased with her work...The prices were affordable and well worth it....
This will be my third time coming to this salon this semester. Two of my best friends have also come in multiple times and they love it as well. Everyone is always professional and I dont have to spend all day at the salon or under the dryer. The second time etat I came, I came to get a silk press so my hair would fit under my cap at graduation. I was nervous about getting it, because of heat damage. EJ sat me down and allayed all of my concerns. Afterward, my hair looked amazing. I got so many compliments. And, most importantly, I had no heat damage when I washed the style out.I highly recommend that people make this their go to salon!
If I could give them 0 stars that would be more accurate. I came to to salon to get my hair straightened. My hair came out amazing. What wasnt amazing was all the heat damage. On their website they promised no heat damage. Before I came to this salon, I had a beautiful fro. Now, my hair wont even curl. My hair is completely damaged. I literally cant do anything to my hair. I am not even being dramatic either when I say LITERALLY. Ive tried twist out, other hair styles, and a bunch of different and nothing worked. All I do to my hair now is put it into a ponytail because its my only option. It has now reach to the point where I need to do ANOTHER big chop, so I can get my hair healthy again. My hair is a few inches passed my shoulders. I now have to cut off my entire hair because the dmanage was so extensive. I loved my hair and my fro. AVOID THIS SALON AT ALL COST IF YOU LOVE YOUR HAIR. This may be one bad review out the bunch but DO NOT risk it. Its not worth it. Please dont make the same mistake I did.

2022-05-22MOST UNPROFESSIONAL! Can’t even get a stylist who knows what they’re doing! And they’re rude!!!I went to Natural Sisters for the first time about 2 years ago it went well I’d been going ever since. However recently I had the worst experience there. First I made a appointment for 2:15 I came in on time but I had to wait 1 hour because my “stylist” wasn’t done doing her previous clients hair. Then after waiting 1 hour I show her the style asked if she can do it. She said okay but my hair was “too short” for the loc style I wanted even though my hair is well over a few inches passed my back. I let it go but I should have said okay never mind right then and there. She starts doing my hair and has me sitting under the heat for 2 whole hours because she messes up my hair by doing it the wrong way and claims that it’s because it’s “not dry yet”. How do I know she messed up? Another stylist tells her this in French, I speak French so I know what she’s saying. Instead of owning up to this she tells me in English it’s because my hair is too short when that is clearly not the reason why my hair looks jacked up.Finally she asks me if she can do anything to fix it but I don’t want this girl anywhere NEAR my hair after she made me look like Medusa and couldn’t even apologize or even own up to it. So I leave. But as soon as I left I think about how I spent $150 just to look silly so I go back to ask for a refund less than 1 minute after leaving.Of course they decline my request instead of a refund I’m told another stylist can fix my hair free of charge. Now my hair is being “fixed” by the same person who messed up my hair in the first place and instead of owning up to her mistakes of 1. Putting the rollers the wrong way 2. Waiting two hours to correct her mistake after leaving my hair under the heat she starts talking about me in French to someone on the phone right in front of me. I go off on her but all of a sudden everyone else has something to say about me as well, for leaving and coming back. Rather than focusing on the many things that led to my disappointment they rather focus on the fact that I left without saying how I felt. On my way out they made remarks and laughed. I have never felt more insulted in a salon.By far the worst service I ever received. If I could give 0 stars I would, trust me.

2022-05-29I’m from Germany and called ahead to make an appointment before I flew into NYC as I read about the shop in a blog. Was asked to give my credit card information to hold the reservation.Once I get there at the time of my appointment, the receptionist speaks so quietly, I can barely hear a word. Telling me there’s no booking under my name. When I kept asking questions, she didn’t care to answer or assist me at all. She made NO additional effort to find my booking after just asking for my name once. What did they take my credit card info for?! I double checked the number I called just to make sure but yes, it was the shop’s number. Now instead of getting a hair cut, I have to call my bank to protect my account.Do NOT give them your credit card info! It doesn’t guarantee a reservation or appointment! I feel SCAMMED! I truly wasted my time for this.

2022-05-04I usually don’t leave reviews, but thought I should warn people. I would avoid booking protective styles with Sophie, and avoid the shop entirely if possible. I asked for a style that I’ve gotten in many different states by many different stylists and she failed to appropriately execute. I should also add that I provided pictures of the length and size before we even started. Before we even get into the protective style when she was blow drying my hair she did not detangle whatsoever, She kept combing through the ends which I’m pretty sure has really damaged my hair. On to the actual protective style, when she first ‘finished’ my hair one side was drastically longer than the other and was drastically shorter than what I’d asked for in general. When I asked her to make it match, she then proceeded to add very little hair to the bottom, so the top of my twists were really thick while the rest of the twists were extremely skinny and she left the back of my head still incredibly shorter then the rest of my hair. When I asked her to make the back of my head match the rest of my hair, she proceeded to try to convince me that that’s how the hairstyle works. Mind you, as I’ve said before I’ve gotten this style in many different places and have never had the back be drastically shorter than the front. When I kept asking her to make all the lengths matched she tried to threaten to charge me more despite the fact that my ask never changed from the initial ask. After that she told me to never request her again. Overall this was a really bad customer experience, and since I’ve left I’ve noticed how tight she made my edges despite me asking her in advance and throughout the process to make it looser. I imagine when I take this hair out, I’ll have no edges and really awful split ends and the hair itself remains to be the opposite of what I wanted. Please make a better decision than myself and refrain from booking with Sophie. In this case I went to her for an emergency and I still very much regret it.Please note that the photos added were taken 2 hours after she “finished”. The lengths are all over the place, the size is all over the place. Just a horrific experience.

2022-05-13Been going here for over a year now. I do braids during the summer and twist my natural hair throughout the rest of the year.Clean and neat, great hair care, great braiders and stylists, a wash included in most natural hair styling and easy to get to.....what more can you ask for?Call them for an appointment, you will not be disappointed.👍🏽👍🏽

2022-04-24Heart broken!!! This was my first hair cut and I am absolutely miserable, wish I NEVER paid and actually tipped thinking I was good.. he cut waayyyy too much off, once I got home I tried to play with it only to realize I was butchered. It’s not even, it’s short here then even shorter there. I showed him (Egypt) two pics he wasn’t able to achieve either. My hair was at a very good length now I am completely traumatized. Please DO NOT GO HERE!!! Especially for a hair cut. You will def def regret it.. after waiting over an hr /WITH an appointment I should have left.. worst Birthday gift to myself ever:-/

2022-02-26I was very excited to meet with Ritha Jules-Benjamin and had done research to confirm that she had a history of working with hair in a gentle manner. However, her comments and energy toward me throughout the appointment were unnecessarily mean-spirited. I have multiple/differing lengths in my hair, due to me dying it blonde as well as because of the nature of how my hair grows, and when I sat at her chair, one of the first things Ritha immediately said to me was “How am I suppose to do deal with this?” in a frustrated and negative tone. As a Black woman and woman in general, it was extremely disheartening to have a hairstylist’s attitude be so negative from the beginning but especially because she was also Black. Additionally, later on, when I said that a part of my scalp was hurting (potentially because she was very heavy handed in detangling my hair), she touched the part of my scalp, saw there were no tangles, and responded “Well maybe it’s all in your head.” I have spoken to multiple people about this awful and traumatic experience at the Natural Sisters Hair Salon. Especially as someone who is often nervous to have others do her hair, I started off excited to find a place that celebrated the variety of natural hair, but that was not at all my experience. I wish I left the salon, but I still needed my hair trimmed. I believe in the hard working hours hairstylists have to endure, so I still tipped Ritha 20%, but I do regret it as well as regret coming to this salon. I will not be coming back and have informed others to not come here as well.

2021-02-18Paunice did a fabulous style on me and was awesome taking wonderful photos of my transition I wanted a mature yet sassy look. Paunice also gave me great hair advice to get and keep it healthy. My hair was damaged and her cutting skills brought LIFE to my hair. Other than the shop itself being a little cold(February storm) my experience was great!!

2017-03-19Love this place! I went here for the first time based on other Google reviews and I was very satisfied with my experience. My stylist was Egypt and he did an excellent job with my hair. I came for a trim, steam treatment and silk press. As you can see in the photos my hair looks healthy and stylish. Everyone in the salon was great. From what I saw every woman who came in there left with great looking healthy hair. I already booked an appointment to come back for a conditioning treatment and perm rod set. I am so happy to find a great natural hair care salon! Also the prices were very reasonable and the staff is very knowledgeable on how to care for natural curly hair.

2019-09-25Very pleasant experience. The staff was kind and professional. I got crochet braids done, Egypt did a wonderful job. He was able to complete my hair within a couple of hours and style it nicely. The price was very reasonable. All prices are listed on the Vagaro booking website so there’s no surprises. I went in person to make my appointment cause I wanted to visit first. The place is clean and bright, two levels. They sell their own hair care products, I especially like the Growth Elixir. I’ve already scheduled my next appointment!

2018-09-14I’ve been to NS and the Weave Lounge several times over the past 1.5yrs or so. I go to them every couple months in between getting my crochet braids out so that I can get a good condition and trim. For the most part each time I’ve gone I’ve left with my hair feeling healthy. But the last time I went in Feb to the Weave Lounge it was done by Briana Bayyan and she did an AMAZING job on my hair! She took her time and was super thorough; gave me a really good shampooing made sure it was super clean since I had just come out of braids; gave me an amazing trim and a beautiful silk press that lasted me two weeks! I was hoping to get her again but was disappointed to hear she no longer works there. ☹ The shop was very clean and the atmosphere was professional.Yesterday I went to Natural Sisters for a silk press and trim. I was running late (struggling to find parking!) so I called to let them know and they were really nice about it - my stylist Tiffany S was very accommodating and I was truly grateful!!This time I got another good trim but I feel like the silk press could’ve been a little hotter and the waves/curls could’ve been a little tighter because even though it looked good in the shop it did not hold up well to the humidity at all. It was already starting to frizz at my roots by the end of the day; and by the next day you couldn’t even tell I’d gotten my hair done. That’s disappointing considering I spent $110 for services. I hated spending all that time & money for a style that didnt last 2 days let alone a week.
