Beautiful and popular Park with free entry via public transit, walking or biking, or utilize paid parking with a modest entrance fee. Picnic at the base of the falls where there are restrooms, a water fountain and a playground across the footbridge. Try taking the Gorge Trail up the steep stairs with pretty views of multiple falls, cross the bridge and follow the Rim Trail down easily through the woods. This is a loop the kids easily did with us. Seeing the pretty falls on the way up was a great distraction and motivation to keep going even though it was a steep climb. We wrapped up the adventure at the playground that features a side for kids 5-12 and a shady section for under fives.

Really nice hike. If you take the stairs its pretty steep to get up on top of the main falls. After that there are a number of Cascades and falls with pools. Very beautiful. Bring your camera. You can hike up then take the rim trail back down to the parking lot.

Pay to park but receipt is good at all state parks for the day. Trail by gorge can be wet and muddy and slick. Many many many stairs. Rim Trail is steep, be prepared for a climb either route.

Buttermilk Falls State Park is a 811-acre state park located southwest of Ithaca, New York, United States. Like Robert H. Treman State Park, a portion of the land that was to become the state park came from Robert and Laura Treman in 1924.Buttermilk Falls State Park features 10 waterfalls in total, with Buttermilk Falls being the main attraction. The park also offers a beach, cabins, fishing, hiking, deer bow-hunting, nature trails, pavilions, a playground, playing fields, recreation programs, and a campground with tent and trailer sites. Here is a trail for hiking .The Gorge Trail is 0.65 miles long and starts at the base of Buttermilk Fall. Combined with the Rim Trail, it makes for a really nice loop hike that is approximately 1.5 miles long. The trail starts by crossing Buttermilk Creek below the pool on a bridge with no railings.

An accessible park that has sitting areas and facilities nearby. Hiking trails start from and end at the falls here. Good place to just relax! :)

Buttermilk falls is a very scenic place, the fall it self not so much as Ive never seen it run with a good amount of water but as you hike through the trail edging the unbelievable path that the water has made over many years it something crazy to see and believe and worth the pictures. This park is a must go!!👍🏻

The water is relatively thinner on most days but the hike up is simply spectacular, second only to Watkins Glen which is an hour drive. Highly recommended.
