Delicious food! Tonight we had take out steak, their amazing bread and bottle of wine. Even in take out containers, the food was plated beautifully. We are always greeted by their friendly staff and enjoy chatting with them. Food is always exceptional! Cant wait to get back to normal and sit at the bar.Support this incredible restaurant now more than ever!
Their menu is amazing! We went for a little moms night out for a glass of wine and ordered just appetizers and a pizza for the table. The hummus plate is an absolute must, the bruschetta is outstanding and so fresh, the crab cake is not bready and Delish and then the puddle cheese pizza, so amazing and not heavy like you think it would be! The waitstaff was so attentive and so nice and sweet! I did not even know this place was there but I will be back for sure! If you haven’t tried it please do so! You will not be disappointed!
Great meals at a good price. Creative menu, from grilled cauliflower to steak. Pizza is amazing! creative soups, salads, excellent wine list, variety of brewed beverages, never got to dessert! Spacious and inviting light wood finished dining room, and dining porch in season. We will be back!
Had a rehearsal dinner really wonderful appetizers and a pasta meal for 35-40 people. Wonderful food, and the venue, the way they set up the food and the seating was perfect. Very creative and customized. We even had an infused water and strawberry lemonade station for those who did not want to drink from the extensive craft beer and lovely wine list.Could not recommend it more highly.
Ordered the Fig Salad and Cheese Puddle Pizza, salad was okay but very small portion for the price. The pizza was not good though, it wasnt seasoned well and I could only taste ricotta. But the service was good, it had good atmosphere and the people I was with all enjoyed their food so I may have ordered the wrong thing. Ill give the place another chance and update if I have a different experience. Also the foccocia was amazing.
Extremely dissapointed in the overall quality in the food. The wood fired pizza was cooked way to long. Instead of tasting pizza It tasted like burnt popcorn. And had no crust.Maybe 1 slice out of the whole pizza was great. Paid $30 for a personal pan pizza and a dozen wings. The wings were not even sauced. I asked for my wings to be extra saucy and they come with no sauce. I had to grab my own hot-sauce;and even then I didnt finish the wings.I wouldnt even give it 1 star as I just thrown money away. Lesson learned. I always go to Scubbers wings in colonie, But I didnt want to drive too far. For eating burnt popcorn with some dry water downed wings i will make the 15 minute drive for Quality food.
Nice atmosphere and interesting dishes from breakfast pizza to quinoa salad with salmon. I personally enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich. The place is good for a team lunch. The long table in the back can accommodate a dozen plus people in a quiet atmosphere. I enjoyed the place!
Delicious pizza all around. You cannot pick a bad one, and we plan to come back so we can try more of them. If youre only having pizza then they are not sharing size. We had the clams and muscles as an appetizer, which was phenominal. The formal entrees look magnificent, although we did order any. Dont forget to head to the back bar and lounge area which is really quite gorgeous.
Great food, Great atmosphere! Owner is from Albany. Support local business! He is also involved in all parts of the restaurant....from cooking, to seating guests, to checking with tables to make sure things are good. I had a steak special one time, that might have been best steak I ever had at a restaurant. Great pizzas and drinks options too. Happy hours specials as well! Cheers!
My niece from the city hired Navona to cater a small Hawaiian themed birthday party- I had never heard of this restaurant- but I will be putting them on my list for Dinners. All food was delivered hot and fresh. They provided plates and silverware instructions on reheating (if necessary-)No detail was left unturned! Beef tips where tender and flavorful the Mahi-mahi light with a delicious sauce to add a bit of tang!! Really a great experience!! Go glad to have a new place to go out with my friends!! Where I know I will get a good meal!OMG the chowder -DELICIOUS!!
Restaurant Navona possesses all of the traits one would expect from a high quality dining experience. The menu offers a pleasing variety of dishes. From appetizer to dessert, the fare is delicious. The servers are attentive and friendly, and the bar offers an excellent variety of wines and beers. The atmosphere is warm and inviting; a wonderful and elegant addition to the New Scotland Avenue business community.
Good food but service is in need of improvement. Upon walking in we were ignored and had to ask about seating. We received an unfriendly response that they were full and we could sit at the bar if we wanted. Two empty tables for 4 remained open even after we left. Our salad and appetizers came out 50 minutes later with our pizza. The $12 salad was very delicious but extremely small. It was more like a side salad. Pizza was pretty good and well priced.
Party of 6 for brunch, no other customers in the place. long wait for food and when we asked waitress she brought over manager who presented us with the ticket for our order to prove we were only waiting 20 minutes. we were speechless. when food finally arrived meals were cold and pancakes were burned. had to chase down staff for more water and coffee. I used to like this place but no more. many other good service and good restaurants to frequent.
We always enjoyed the Tap & Tearoom and the new owner has done a good job of keeping things up while introducing great homemade pasta and wood fired pizzas. Id prefer to give 4.5 stars, just because the service is occasionally slow - but Im not going to round down to 4 because it doesnt bother my wife & I that much, though its something I think people should be aware of.Ive also used the back room with the stage & fireplace for private functions and I highly recommend it if they still offer that.
Creative lunch menu. Caesar salad was delicious (with anchovies) however the option to add grilled chicken was a waste of money; small amount of over cooked, dry chicken. Seemed like only one server on staff so service was slow. Request for second beverage was ultimately cancelled.
Navonas hosted a party for us last Saturday...what is it ever great! The staff over and above to accomodate us! They decorated for us, made the most fantastic cake for our party, great food, pizza, and all the beer and wine we needed! I traveled from Texas for the party and they had Shiner Bock beer that we had requested! It is a great place...and I for one cannot say enough GOOD things about the restaurant, but mainly the staff! Thank you so much for a wonderful venue!
Had a wonderful meal here, husband and wife owners were very nice, both recognized my mother whose been in a handful of times and both made a point to come over and talk. Husband is a chef, wife tends bar both were very down to earth. The pastas were phenomenal, and the atmosphere wasnt stuff of so hopefully you felt uncomfortable in casual wear. I went in scrubs and had a meal I preferred over Pecks Arcade at s price I didnt regret.
I had the Beef Shoulder Tender. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce that came with it was delicious. However, there were only four 1 slices of the beef, 0.5 potatos worth of potato puree, less than 1/8 of sauteed onions, and 2.5 small sticks of asparagus. Only that small amount for $24. Other than the tiny portion, the taste of the food was great.
Love, love, love this place and not only because of the food but because of the family ambience. They have pizza, pasta and other special. I also like that the owners knows everyone and welcomes everyone like family. There is parking space available, seating outside and indoors.
The food here is incredible. Had the fortune of visiting Navona while in Albany. Coming from NYC where the streets are saturated with mediocre restaurants, it was a delight to taste the wood fired pizzas, fresh pastas, and perfectly seasoned sauces that brought me back to my summer spent in Italy. I also love the layout of the restaurant and that you can see the chefs preparing the food and tending to the authentic Italian wood oven...when a staff clearly cares about the food they prepare, you can taste something special in each bite. Though there is a lot of square footage in the space, it feels intimate and cozy. And the desserts...oh lord...heaven on earth. If you told me Id be recommending a restaurant in Albany, Id say you must be joking! Albany has no restaurant scene! Well, Navona has proved me deliciously wrong.
I had dinner here the other night with a friend from out of town who is also a lover of good food. Her train arrived late, so we wanted a place that was both close to her hotel and open until at least 9pm. Navona was my first choice, but she suggested that we stop at the closest one; when we reviewed the menu, we found it wanting. When we arrived at Navona, we found that its good reviews were justified. The hostess and wait staff were lovely and consistently courteous, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the food was great. We split a chicken meatball appetizer plate -- small, but flavorful. My friend ordered the Roasted Beet and Fresh Crab Salad, and her expression after the first couple of bites confirmed her approval: This place really was the right choice! I ordered the Tagliatelle and Beef Ragu, and it was delicious. The way that the flavors blended together was beyond what I expected from its simple description. I could easily have eaten a second plate -- but then I wouldnt have had room for the lovely dessert, a yummy lemon brulee tarte. Even though it was past 9 when we were finished and settling the bill, no one made us feel rushed or pressured to leave. The barman joked that they could just clean up around us. The food here is both interesting and carefully curated, and the ambience is welcoming. Ill definitely make this a go-to resource for dining in Albany.
Excellent food and service-once we got to our table. The bartender wasnt exactly speedy or attentive. Had to wave him down twice for service. I also had to track someone down when I came in to see if the rest of my party was there yet.The food was marvelous! Fresh, delicious and artfully concocted. Bravo!
This place is cozy and intimate, so bring your special ones here. The chefs produce an interesting mix of Old School Italian to modern cuisine you wont find elsewhere. Features: lovely, comfortable decor, Wood fired pizza oven - also used for other innovations from the kitchen. Full bar in the main dining area and a backroom equipped with full bar and fireplace. Add Navonas own brand of extraordinary customer service and you have your new favorite place.
I recently made a reservation for two. In doing so I specifically asked if seating in the back room was available and was told yes it was. When my wife and I arrived we were told that there was a party in the back room and that we would have to sit elsewhere or come back later. There was no apology from the staff who acted as if there had been no reservation. We left and went to the Gastropub down the street.

2022-05-05The service, atmosphere of the restaurant, and the food were some of the best Ive had in Albany! Everything we ordered off the menu was incredible, especially the arugula and lemon pizza, and the smores mousse tart.

2017-12-15The autumn salad was great. The bruschetta was delectable... we couldn’t get enough. The wood fired pizza was stupendous. The bread with dip they gave out was also delicious. The owner was friendly and service was good. Oh, and the Caesar salad was good too.

2017-07-01A wonderful cozy but bustling atmosphere, freindly staff, great stepped up familiar dishes made from scratch on site. A burger, yes they have it, but not your run of the mill burger. Fresh blended cuts of beef hand pressed with gourmet style yet not pretentious or snobby, just delicious. The wood fired pizza was really a treat. I will be sure to visit again as part of my regular Albany restaurant rotation.

2018-05-11Navona is about as adequate as it gets. Their food, although delicious, comes in miniscule portions and takes a significant amount of time to do so. Service was excellent and the restaurant itself was comfortable. We sat outside, however, the inside temperature was comfortable. Also the bathrooms were very clean. Giving four stars because it was quality service. Personally I rank it 3 stars, but the style of navona, small portions and wine menu, might appeal to the older crowd. (Also you can bring your dog and sit on the patio)

2021-06-06SO good. Waitress sweet, pleasant. Salad really good risotto excellent, but had to swipe hubbys chips, it needed bread sticks or something to eat with it. Hubby loved his burger press, too

2021-04-09Food is amazing and chef Eric is the most talented and charming chef in upstate New York. A MUST TRY!!!! They are now the best pizza in the capital district by far, with the beautiful wood fired pizza oven (Im not the biggest pizza fan, but they dont make pizza at restaurant Navona, they make fire kissed circles of love exemplified). The dishes are inspired and amazing, full of flavor and phenomenal. All the staff is fantastic though. I usually go on my birthday every year, but I couldnt make it this year. Ive been kicking myself, this is the kind of place you make the time for. I dare anyone to go here and prove me wrong, this place is objectively the best restaurant in the capital district. It is the best restaurant Ive eaten at in all of NY state for that matter. Google should put a 6th star option, but only for this place. I always leave the restaurant happy, so if you are just having a bad day, come here and your spirits will be instantly lifted with the first bite!
