We got first row tickets to see Pretty Woman and it was such a treat. Seats were comfortable and we used a booster seat as stage was high. Nice theater and a great experience. Samantha Barks was amazing, Orfeh too. Saw Mr. Saturday Night too from Mezzanine and was a hilarious show.
We just saw Mr Saturday Night with Billy Crystal and we loved the show and the theatre. We the sound was very good and the theatre enabled you to enjoy the show and the wonderful talent of all the performers. This was our first time at this theatre. We were from out of town and surrounded by locals who were all huge BC fans (as we are). It was a night to remember and we look forward to returning to this theatre.
A relatively decent theater, if youre 65 or taller, get prepared for really tight and uncomfortable seating i hope its not a long show! I had to leave at intermission because it was just that uncomfortable. Billy Crystals Mr. Saturday Night, on the other hand,, was an excellent show!!!
I attended the Billy Crystals Mr. Saturday Night show on July 30th, 2022 at 2:00 pm show. It was incredible, loved the performance and the theater was fantastic. However, there was a staff member who was working the refreshment stand near the mezzanine; This was a young man who was just awful. He was disrespectful, he swore at me and he pestered me for a tip. He never he even gave me chance to explain that I was going to tip him in cash, despite the fact he didnt deserve it at all. Such horrible service and that kid deserves to lose his job.
A note for the users of the mens bathroom: it is an interesting set up for a mens room (Ive never used their womens rest room, so I cannot comment about its set up). First off, the restroom is up stairs - most theatres have their bathrooms downstairs when you first enter. Youll notice right away that there are directional signs for the bathroom with one side labeled for entrance and the other for exit. This makes sense once you turn the corner and see the bathroom. It is an incredibly narrow space. The urinals are very close, both to each other and to the people waiting on line. And they are tight. There are dividers between them, but they are narrow. I can just squeeze my shoulders into the space. (But, in all fairness, I am thick/ wide/broad/non-petite, and take up space... however, they are still a tight squeeze). And there are 2 stalls on the otherside. On the pathway out are the sinks leading to the exit. There is just enough space for a single file, so you might have to wait for the person at the sink in front of you to finish before you can exit.tl;dr- if you are Pee Shy or Claustrophobic, Id recommend going to the restroom before you get to the theatre!A bonus note: right by the exit, they also have a little water cooler with paper cups. I always thought this was kinda nice. Just beware; stopping to get a cup of water will block the exit, so be quick about it!
A great 1920s style theatre, the sound quality within the hall is awesome, the lights are bright and colorful, and even the highest seats have good views (depending on who sits in front of you). The seats are tight, but Im not aware of any Broadway theatres that have ample seating space or leg room. Id recommend checking out a show here.
Way toooooooooo LONG!!! That said, the cast performance was incomparable. Their ability to retain/memorize the dialogue for each of the characters they portrayed, was not just an uncanny observance; but a display of theater 🎭 thespians performing & utilizing their honed skills @ a sustained apex. Their physical, their vocal ability to articulate & expertly exploit the nuances that permits each actor to effortlessly and seamlessly transmute themselves into an amalgamation of characters. Incredible! Highly recommend this production. Staging, set design, sound, music, the wardrobe all minimalistic and yet cohesive, and aids in silently telling the Lehman Trilogy. Each actor & the play are deserving of Tony nominations. It was interesting, I👂 to ppl tlkn during the intermission, and several appeared to suffer from a quasi-PSTD...in regards to the collapse of Lehman Brothers. I overheard some ppl recounting seeing others carry boxes of belongings, others wlkn dazed 😳 like to 🚂 stations downtown NYC...very interesting recapitulations.
We went to this theater to see the fun new musical Pretty Women . We loved the musical and how it stayed close to the movie screen play. They inserted wonderful songs in just the right places! The theater was just fantastic with beautiful decor and you can see the stage from any seat. We had a wonderful time at this great broadway theater!
Just to be clear, the 5 stars is for the show. Lehman Trilogy was FANTASTIC! The cast was Extraordinary and the set was Brilliant. Truly enjoyed this and I would see it again. As for the theater, the seats are smaller than airplane seats. Yes it was manageable but not comfortable. The poor man to my right had to sit sideways to not crush me or his wife. It was cold and I had a coat with me which I had to roll into a ball and hold it on my lap because the woman in the seat in front of me kept complaining that it was touching her head. If the play had been less than awesome this would have been an uncomfortable evening.
This theater is a very large- 1,232 seats- Broadway theater and is right off of Times Square in New York City. Its the flagship theater of the Nederlander Organization. Its an old and very beautiful theater. I recently was there to see the Lehman Trilogy; I wish I had gotten there early to wander around the theater a bit.The theater gets quite crowded. This is particularly the case with the bathrooms. Im sure not everyone gets back to their seat in time after the intermissions.Yesterday, when I was at the theater it was quite cold. Many people in the audience left their jackets on. Maybe there was some problem with the heating system that will be fixed but it might make sense on a cold day to be sure to bring a sweater. The ushers and staff were doing a great job in making sure everyone was complying with mask rules.
The seats are really tight and the view of stage was obstructed for the seats we got. But the show was great! I came with my BFF for her birthday on the opening night of Harry Connick Jr.s a celebration of Cole Porter. It was such a treat for both of us! I like the lighting arrangements especially. Harry is exceptionally talented and he has really good musicians with him, especially the drummer.
A lovely small theater (dont recommend the higher priced first few rows as youre too close and will stain your neck) however the staff was quite aggressive at times and even rude. I understand its a difficult job herding masses of humans but trying to do so with a little patience and a kinder voice makes it a little more bearable for everyone. The female usher down in row A had a nice sense of humor and mellowed out a bit as the night wore on. The bathroom line control was a hot mess. Definitely an area for improvement.
The Nederlander theater needs to add additional bathrooms, it currently has one smallish male and one smallish female bathroom. We saw The Lehman Trilogy, which was a wonderful show. However, as the theater hasn’t updated their facilities in a very long while, we waited in line for the bathroom during intermission and didn’t get to the front before intermission was over. If I were a producer I wouldn’t have my show here, the bathroom situation was bad enough to impact how much I enjoyed the show.
The Lehman Trilogy was great. I am only 53 so legroom was not an issue for me but I could see taller people struggling lol. The bathroom situation could be improved but multiple people were guiding us through the line and I got back to my seat in time during intermission. Everyone was wearing their masks properly. Security and covid checks at the door were quick. I brought a big sweater because I knew it would get cold. I was surprised that the cheap mezzanine seats I bought had such a good view.
The worst. Just walked out on $400 worth of Lehman Trilogy tickets before the show even started because they are incapable of sufficiently enforcing the mask mandate. 1/3 of the people around us were either not wearing masks at all or were not wearing them over their noses. Several people near us were laughing and commenting that they were sick of masks and waiting for the lights to go off in order to remove them. Apparently a good show but simply not worth the risk to see it if idiots won’t follow the rules and the house won’t bother to properly enforce them. The reopening of Broadway is unlikely to go well and this winter will be a COVID disaster in NYC. It wouldn’t take too much effort to avoid this, but there you go… :-(
Cancelled the Hamilton performance after waiting in our seats for over an hour in mask, with several thousand other patrons, only to have them cancel show due to staff having tested positive for Covid! This was a Christmas Eve matinee performance where we hosted out of town guests and also wasted $60 paying to park our cars!!
SEATS ARE RIDICULOUSLY SMALL!!! We sat in the mezzanine... Anyone larger than a size 4 needed to sit an an awkward angle during the entire show to avoid touching other guests. Imagine doing so for the entirety of The Lehman Trilogy which runs approximately 3 hours!!! 😡😡😡😡
Very nice venue with amazing acoustic! The place was clean with comfortable seats. We saw Pretty woman in this theatre and it was wonderful experience. We sat in the mezzanine and we had amazing view and the tickets cost only $99! The staff was also very friendly and helpful.
A nice place to catch the show! The lighting & acoustics were good, but my only ding was that the seats (up in the balcony where our seats were) are really close to one another. This became uncomfortable quickly, and at 510, 210lbs, Im not all that big. If youre of larger stature, youll be hurting quickly. I recognize that size is limited in this area, but - be aware. The location was convenient and easy to get in/out. Plenty of eating around as well.Id go back again.
At least in some places the seats are very small and close together with no leg room at all. I would be careful when choosing seats as some rows have more leg room and would be a better place for a tall or larger person. But the theatre is small so almost any seat in the house is good for viewing the stage.
Went to see a play .... Pretty women seats were good as far as viewing the stage. Yet Im 6ft 4in my knees were jammed in. I guess when this place was built everyone was shorter in the day. The sound and lighting was perfect. So was the cast and the music. If you go to the play enjoy the show..
It was okay they need better seating for people with back problems. The show was great however I ask for a cushion for the seat the staff members were great however there were two woman behind us started to complain that they could not see. So my husband did not want the cushion. It had to be a woman that complains. They definately need better seating no leg room either.
It’s a fine theater. (I mean I don’t recommend seeing Pretty Woman which is currently playing there but this review is for the theater.)The front row is right up to the stage - it’s way too close and you have to look up (I know, I know how this sounds complaining about front row seats but just trying to be honest). Some theaters have the front row, then the pit, then the stage, but the pit is under the stage - which I also think is a negative because I like seeing the musicians - but the first row is totally smack up against the stage. We used small cushions that they had to put on the seats so we could see better without hurting our necks the whole time.
Been going to the Nederlander since Rent, and while I love the theater, it seems to have suffered in recent years. The seats have been redone, and the spaces between them are incredibly narrow. The acoustics are pretty good, but one of the speakers kept crackling during one of the songs like Ive seen at local theater. Otherwise, you cant beat the intimate nature of the theater itself.
Saw pretty woman the musical.. Great show.. Lovely place.. Could be a bit more organized from staffing point of view.. Overall the show was amazing.. It was their 300th show and Brian Adams came out at the end to sing and give a small personal concert.. Was a great night..
The show was fantastic and we managed to get last minute rush seats which were 3 rows back so an amazing view for a bargain price. We saw the pretty woman show and loved it, the only issue we had was how uneven the floor was, my wifes seat was almost 5° sidways tilt.
My nieces took my wife to see Pretty Woman which was very nice. The theatre is an older venue which offers closeup views of the presentations. Seating aisleways are very narrow which presents an issue when patrons arrive late for a performance. The theatre features a bar that offers beer and wine as well as a snack bar and souvenir stand. Restrooms are located upstairs and became very busy during intermission. There is only one disabled persons bathroom, located on the ground floor, which caused a bottleneck to form around the area.
It was a nice place to see a show. Not sure I dug the acoustics, or the lack thereof. They blasted the show over PA speakers, which were poorly placed. Overall, the production was very high quality. But I think that audiophiles will be a bit annoyed, especially if you are seated to the right or left up front and have mono sound loud right in your face.
Came here to see Newsies. The orchestra seating area is pretty small (you immediately see the sound control station upon entry, which is rather unusual), and the theater itself is not very big either. Fortunately, each row of seats is very nicely elevated, so everyone gets a very clear view of the stage, regardless where you sit. The sound system and acoustic are excellent here, however I did notice some feint airy sound at the beginning of the show (not sure if it was coming from the A.C. vent or just pure static). Though its small, the theater is very well maintained and equipped.
I have seen a few shows at this theatre, the first of which was Rent, which I did not enjoy, but I wont let that color my opinion of the theatre since its not their fault that the show wasnt good. The last two I saw there were both flops, but I thought they were alright. Overall, this is one of the great Broadway theatres, and its absolutely gorgeous.
Shows here are always amazing; the bar upstairs serves throughout the show. There is a out-of-sight restroom on the far side (opposite the street) that usually has a shorter line during intermission.Flashing lights means the show is about to start, so make sure you find your seat! Candy selection is lacking so bring your own if thats what youre into.
This place was very cute..old fashion looking. The staff was very helpful and polite. Bathrooms were very clean. Snacks were available for purchase. The only downfall was the comfort of the seats.. There isnt a lot of leg room and the seats are a little on the smaller side.
I booked top price tickets as soon as I read about Pretty Woman , before any reviews etc I just took a chance. I had my choice of the whole theater an as a short woman thought a great idea was row A of the mezzanine. Firstly the show was excellent 10/10 but seats were not even 1/10 these seats are RESTRICTED VIEW and should be sold as such, very bad show so to speak Nederlander. There is a bar across the whole row, which when you sit back in your seat obscures at least half of the stage and myself and the several other people in the row spent the show leaning under and over the bar to see the show and leaning forwards and when my backed ached from leaning forwards I leant back and then could see even less of the show. seating in this row always works for me in the UK as the rake on seats is never enough for me to be able to see over peoples heads at 5ft tall. But in this theater the mezzanine level has an excellent rake, so in any other row than row A that Id booked, you would have an excellent view. In the UK this row would be sold as a restricted view Im pretty sure. What a shame I couldnt see the show properly.
I went to purchase tickets for Pretty Woman for the first week of August. An unpleasant, and nasty woman behind the ticket window abruptly told me that a big company had purchased all the tickets for the particular night I wanted for a big party and there was no tickets available. I left the theater thinking it has to be impossible that the entire show was sold out. I went onto telecharge and found blocks of unsold tickets. I returned to the theater and asked the nasty woman how could there be tickets for sale on multiple website yet she told me non were available. She refused to see me a ticket in the orchestra but did me a huge favor and sold me three bad seats in the mezzanine. .The theater is trying to scam the public. They are charging much higher fees and adding on numerous services fees and the customer is getting taken advantage of. There is no management to complain to. Whom do you advise of the outrageous they are tacking onto the tickets.
Seats are terrible. Too tight. Our experience with the female usher was terrible on the first mezzanine. We showed her our tickets and she was arrogant and said give me all your tickets and l will seat you. We were 15 people in our party. She should not be working with the publicYelling at our whole group. There is a way to talk with people.
The theater is nice but the older lady that works in the bathroom is RUDE!!!!! Yelling for the women in the bathroom to hurry up because she wanted to go home, even said something to a lady about how big her butt was!!! One of the ladies that works the auditorium.. there were 10 of us seeing this show and one of my friends leaned over to check the time on her phone and this lady said something to her about it. I texted my nephew because they were in labor.. ...she came up and said something to me. Just rude... the guys that show u to your seat.. super nice.
Enjoyed the play Pretty Woman, but one bathroom and long line was too much. People with disabilities including just plain knee pain will struggle with going down the stairs to get on the line and have to walk back up the stairs as the line makes it way into the bathroom. If you are bigger than a size 16 you will struggle to fit in seats.
A great Broadway experience! I saw Newsies and was blown away by the cast, crew, and theater itself. The seating area is fairly packed but gorgeous and certainly comfortable enough to sit in through a show. The seats are a bit squished together horizontally, which really made me feel like I was right up close to the stage even though I was in the middle of the balcony; however, if you need a lot of leg room you might feel cramped. All in all, I had a wonderful experience with both Newsies and the theater itself.
We saw Newsies on Sept 7, 2013 and sat in last four seats in row L. The seats were all partially obstructed with the outer two seats having a full 1/3 of the viewing area obstructed (much of the play is set deep in the stage.) These seats were sold as orchestra seats and were not worth the price. If you see any show at this theater be sure to avoid the ends of the rows. The balcony offered a much better view at a lower price.
Went to see the show on 22nd March 2019 and loved every minute of it. Don’t go thinking of the film for music as it’s not the same however it’s fabulous and punchy, this is a musical and Bryan Adams has done it justice. The script is pretty close to the original and the characters are AMAZING XXXXX
Very good views, very few obstructions. Seats are TIGHT. I am 65 tall and was fighting my legs from falling asleep, I overheard shorter ppl saying the same. I expected concessions to be more expensive than on the street, but cmon. Those prices for simple snacks were obscene.
Lasting impressions: Nice, intimate theatreMy experience: We came here to see Newsies and sat in a box. The view was actually good and the chairs were soft enough that my bum didnt hurt. I approve of both of those things. The verdict: We would go back to this theatre. Any place that has seats that doesnt make my bum ache is ok in my book...
DISASTER!!! What a wonderful show. I have never had so much fun at a theater in my life. Lots of laughs (I mean laugh out loud laughs-trust me), great music and a cast that is out of this world.Dont miss it. If you like to laugh, and if you enjoy 70s and 80s music, you will love this show. The only drawback is that the seating at the Nederlander is CRAMPED. I am over 6 feet tall and if I hadnt gotten an aisle seat (I always do as I am tall) I honestly dont think I could have fit in the seat. And where would I put my legs? Again, the only drawback, but I just wanted to warn...if you are tall you will need an aisle seat, or you will need to be sandwiched between those who love you.
Newsies is a great show, dont get me wrong! But this review is about the theatre itself. I sat on the aisle in the balcony, and there were extremely bright lights lining the balcony that stayed on for the whole show. Those I found very distracting. The Air Conditioning in the theatre is also very loud and annoying. It didnt help that the sound guys were running the show really quietly that day. (Also, a given on broadway, theres very little leg room) Very nice aesthetic appeal however, and nice acoustics. And like I said, Newsies itself is fantastic!
Pretty Woman, what a delight and surprise as I had seen songs performed at the View (where I was blessed with the tickets for free.) The guy we first saw looked like JFK jr, really good looking guy, but this guy looked different and sounded familiar. After a little more of hearing him I knew it was the actor from the RENT movie which I loved, which upon checking the Playbill yes its Adam Pascal, OMG I so loved everyone in that! The play was funny and the bodies OMG, they work so hard on keeping fit, from the dancing to the singing. even the bellhop dropping into the stage (simulated elevator) truly a great time. I highly recommend, any that liked the movie or just for a feel good time and hope of dreaming for a better life, or opening your mind and options for a better future!
My wife and I went to see Pretty Woman here at the Nederland and had a wondrous time. The play was incredible as was the atmosphere of the theater. Things to know in advance, drinks are expensive...even water so be prepared, restrooms are very compact so consider leaving seat a moment before intermission if needed, and do not plan on taking photos during a show. Other than that, the theater is wonderful and best accessible on foot...have taxi drop you wherever is convenient and walk.
The theatre had a miserable way to get people to the restrooms during intermission. I am a diabetic and when I have to go I have to go. No one wanted to hear my situation and I would not encourage ANYONE I care about to go to that theatre. It really sucks. Treated the bathroom line like a friggin herd if cattle.

2022-07-09Went here for the play Mr Saturday night. Great experience! The staff was super helpful in getting us to our seats. During intermission they even regulated the bathrooms which was nice it wasnt a free for all. The theater is super big but any seat you have even in the nosebleed section is a good view! Broadway there is no other place like it, enjoy the show!

2022-08-08We had a blast at Billy Crystals Mr Saturday night show. Fast entrance, helpful and friendly staff in a historically important venue. The Nederlander celebrated its 100 years in 2021, but it is still a precious part of Broadway. The show was hilarious, Billy even signed our programme card and we left the show with memories to behold.

2022-06-11Play notwithstanding, which was excellent, this theatre is everything you dont want it to be - cramped, cramped again and dangerously cramped. If youre taller than 510 prepare your knees to be jammed into the seatbin front of you. Dont even think about using the restroom during intermission, the stampede of people in a narrow pathway is a certain bottleneck that will make you miss the second act.

2022-07-09This was June 21st. I am 71. A Broadway play has been on my bucket list forever. My son and daughter-in-law took me here, my first time in NYC. I fell on the sidewalk earlier in the day and busted up my knee. Our seats were way up high and I could not make the stairs. My son spoke with the manager and told him my story. He was able to find us three seats all together on the main floor! This was only minutes before the show! The play was wonderful!!! We loved it. I think the manager’s name was Dave? I hope that is correct. He was wonderful to help us and make my dream come true. I cried happy tears. My experience in New York could not have been any better!

2022-04-16Vaccination cards and ID are a must. Very strict the staff with having Masks on. Ive been here before. Small theater, which has obstructed views. Not much leg space. Very cramped together. During intermission, gets so crowded, so hard to move around within the crowds. But loved Watching Mr. Saturday night highly recommend.

2022-04-05Went to see Mr. Saturday Night here on Saturday night, shoe was great, no doubts, but oh boy what a hussle with vaccination, security and tickets check, it doesnt feel like your are attending THE theater. Its just pressure and chaos. No class, unfortunately.Seats are very narrow, and you just hope everyone is just capable of seating through 3h shows.Drinks were strong, but just ok quality.

2022-03-31This is the worst theater I have been to in Broadway. The seats are so narrow it really doesnt have any leg room. My leg and feet hurts after the show. Theres also no place for people to pass through, so theres a lot of disturbance during the show while people need to go to restroom. And also the seats are so close each row, if someone lean forward or if they are tall will block a lot of your view. So your bet will be to have a good decent attendee in front of you. I had a tall person kept moving around so it ruins the show for me.The staffs are rude and female bathroom was broken and leak through the staircase. People had to go to hotel next door to use bathroom during intermission.

2022-08-16Billy Crystal was excellent, the show is wonderful, the theater is great(both classics)! First off I kinda thought of Jackie Mason many times during the performance, and the many Jewish references throughout... something I was pleasantly surprised but didnt get from the reviews. Well there were many comments about the tight seating and I tried my hardest to not make that the center of attraction, since of course this is a older theater and seating could be a issue if you want it to be. As long as your not too tall (over 66) and more than 300lbs. right and if you are thats your problem (not mine) right...Wrong! We had a 300+lb. Person in the seat next to us, need I say what that meant to the 115lb person sitting next to him, plus how everyone had to hold on for their lives as he made his way down the isle After the show started to add. Next to him wasnt a 66person but a tall man with a huge duffle bag (either the bag or the person gets that seat). These are some reasons the seating at this theater could be a challenge to say the least and because of that the one less star. Please tell the theatre to list this in their seating chart before allowing you to purchase a ticket. Why doesnt the theater protect the paying customer from being forced to give up half of their seat from those people who cant fit in their own seat? Just seams to be no consideration for others these days(and no rules)!

2021-11-03Loved the theater, it was cozy inside and the staff was cool. Bathroom lines got long during intermissions but at least you can pick up a drink and a snack while waiting in line at the two compact concession areas along the way. The whole theater had a 50s feel to it. Seats were decently comfortable. Would recommend a visit
