Nellys food is always good. I love the mofongo, I have tried all of them pork, shrimp, cheese, chicken so many options to pick from. So far all the meals have been on point specifically the pernil. I like they have different size meals and most important you can order your meal in so many different way online (I usually use Yelp) or just call the restaurant to place your order.
Even though the food is good and the cooker is very nice and polite. When I called a female server picked up, not only did she have an horrible attitude while taking my order, she didn’t even get my order right. The customer service that she offer is terrible. She is disrespectful, she doesn’t use gloves while serving and handle your food and she gives off bad energy and bad attitude even on the phone. When I got there she was serving the food like she’d rather be anywhere else and she didn’t like when I asked her to add more rice with my big order. She has long nails, and black hair in a bun. I buy there several times and today was the first time I saw this disgusting woman.
Nice addition to there location was there updating there seating to something more inviting and comfortable. I wish they made it more of a restaurant and less of a cafeteria. Oh the food was (spot on!)
Food is amazing and authentic made me remembered when I was back in the DR. I been over many times and Ill keep coming for more. Food is fresh, delivery service is fast and its not that expensive. Recommend anyone to come dine in or take out.
Food was great at the beginning... But in the past year Ive gotten white rice that was from the day before. One time I tried to use a discount card for 10% off at Nellys on North Plank Rd. I had purchased from a school fundraiser. The owner or manager I spoke to not only rudely told me he wouldnt honor it, but he said a few choice words in Dominican Slang that I understood fully. It took me about 9 months before I ever went back. I went back for breakfast and was charged $28 for 4 eggs, 3 slices of salami, 2 longaniza, 3 pieces of fried cheese, 2 guineo, and yuca. And a Snapple... never going back!
Horrible. Every time I’ve given this place a chance Ive been disappointed! I know different cooks and servers bring different taste & energy. I haven’t been impressed by none.
This place is great!!!. Best chicharron in area. The place is always clean and the food is fresh. Ive walked in this restaurant right before they close, yet still the lady behind the counter is always so nice and patient. Just Wish they had a menu to take home. If you like Spanish food this small spot will not disappoint.
The chicken was hard like it was a frozen chicken. I got a large rice with half a cup of beans. Waste of money for $40 worth of food
This place has good food and service. However, the portions they give is not consistent. Lately they have been giving disappointing portions. I go there pretty often and they hardly give any meat. Alot of rice and little meat. Hopefully they will read this and improve. The past 3 times i went i was disappointed.
Got 2 orders and everything was so cold you could not eat it without bringing home and put them in the oven to heat them enough to eat
The food was beyond amazing. Very casual atmosphere. And very friendly I would recommend it very highly. My son and grandson loved the food. I even bought stuff home for dinner

Food is great...but please, someone speak Englsh. I ordered food on Seamless for arriving company. A very large order, an hour later I receive an email saying my order was canceled. WHY?? I call the restaurant and NO ONE CAN SPEAK ENGLISH, SO THEY HANG UP. So disappointing. I spend another 20 min on the phone with Seamless, they tried to call the restaurant as well, but got the same results. Im done!! So utterly unprofessional. They lost a good $$$ making customer. Company arrived to no dinner. SUCKS!!
I ordered one thing and got something else. The alcapurrias are good. They are made out of casave . Not a fan of the potato balls, the steak sandwich was good. Not a fan of the rice, beans and chops. Mine are better. Pretty disappointing. I will attempt other dishes.
Great food! And cheap! but the staff is very rude. My girlfriend and I went to get some take out and she was on her personal phone and didnt bother to hang up when taking our order and she didnt smile or anything. Learn some customer service skills.

You will notice her as soon as you walk in, she has poor social skills to be working in the restaurant field, customers need to ask question about the food they are buying. I would have hope that was so under normal circumstances. I placed a $50 dollar order and didnt recieve what I asked for. The steak was suppose to be done medium and instead I was given a steak that looks disgusting and old (like if its been sitting in a buffet for houds). No mangu or guineos. I ordered rice and beans and only got white rice. Smh I wish I can upload the pictures. My order specifically stated to contact me if they didnt have something. If they would of contacted me I would of changed my order, Very disappointing and will never order from them again. Should be ashamed of themselves charging so much and not fulfilling orders as a customer wants. Dont order from here !!!
Ordered take out via grubhub and it was delicious! We tried the family deal, whole chicken, rice and beans , the fish mini combo, and maduros.. all tasty! The chicken and fish were super flavorful! Portions were lovely and I can’t wait to try the Mofongo.
Terrible. This was the wors Latin food I have ever had. The rice was cold, the stew chicken was pinkish on the inside. Also I ordered stew goat and let me tell you it was horrible, it was way to oily and just not cooked right had a bitter taste.
HORRIBLE Experience for a 1st time customer who would consider supporting your business! Called to place an order and was told she’s too busy to take my order???? What??? Too busy to take my order ?Wouldn’t as a business to explain your busy then tell me you can take my order but it may be an hour before I can pick it up? Even maybe longer but to tell a customer you’re too busy to even take my order is very bad for a business! Don’t worry we’ll never call again! Hope you stay busy!
I had Pernil, which was tender and moist. The rice was very good, and not dry. Beef Empanada and Potato Balls were also tasty. Tostones were good, but the forgot the Mojito sauce. Definitely going back.

I actually am from Brooklyn living in the neighborhood blocks away from Moore St and Graham AvenueI actually wanted DANNYS but My daughter who had the food prior was completely excited about the food at NELLIES.Well I was disappointed the beans definitely was burnt and they tried to salvage them. The TOSTONES was dry did not taste fresh with the crunch they tasted frozen FYI frozen plantains are very dry. I have sat at many Hispanic Mothers tables growing up and I know who ever was in the kitchen skipped on the flavors and Quality of the foodI have been home not feeling well and she wanted to give her parents something special and it’s disappointing the food wasn’t true to it’s culture.. I had to tell my daughter what happened. Please don’t rob your customers of the true experience we are paying for!!!

Every single time I’ve ordered for delivery they mess up my order!!!!!!!!! Today one of our meals was fully missing even though it was paid for and clearly on the receipt. So over this place. Dont spend your money here. You will be left hungry and having to spend more money to fill your void if you’re hungry.
Great food but the women serving the food is the nastiest person I’ve come across ever serving food her attitude is disgusting!!!! And since she’s been working there I barely can get a full plate of food cheap with food and then when you walk in she looks at you like you don’t belong or she doesn’t wanna be bothered want spend anymore of my money here and I’ve been a great customer but no more if they don’t move her their business will be in trouble

Service is horrible. Missing multiple items in the order and when they finally answered the phone would repeatedly say Ill call you back in a second hang up and not call back. Then just wouldnt answer the phone when trying to call again. Ridiculous!!!!

Don’t order onGrubhub. They have an extensive list of items to order. But once you do. They will cancel your order because they are unable to prepare it and then you will be stuck waiting for grub hub to refund you. Totally unacceptable.
So I payed 27bucks for over cooked oxtail nasty sour flavor on both my dishes between stew chicken and my oxtails had same sour taste rice was the only thing good and even that wasnt that great never again not sure what happened first 2 times I went there was happy now I wouldnt go back or recommend Newburgh one and dont really care to try there other spots

2022-08-26This was our first time at this site in Newburgh. The ladies were super sweet and helpful. The food, on the other hand was not as good. In their defense, we arrived close to closing and they had already begun mopping. I would give another just to be sure it wasnt because they were closing soon.

2022-09-18Do not know any other words for this place except totally comfort food, exactly what I remember eating when my mother & grandfather cooked home cooking!! Five of us went in ordered from extra friendly ladies who filled up my plate with the best food and enjoyed it very much! I asked if they cook it & she said yes, all I could say was thank you. All the love was in the food and the pasteles were excellent! People were coming in picking up food, some sat down ate and left, we sat and tasted every forkful and more people came in picked up. Anyone that disagrees talk to all of us who love the food and dont come in before closing or expecting to be waited on. Just sit and enjoy like people are supposed to appreciate good food. I even had flan after I ate everything on my plate.. thank you ladies!!!👍

2022-07-16Very disappointed I normally get take out from the location on Windsor Highway and it’s delicious!!! Tried this location today and I should’ve known better when she asked was the piece of chicken she was giving me okay . Got home started eating my meal the chicken was hard , dry and burnt !!! A waste of 11$ if gas wasn’t so expensive I would have drove right back over there for a refund !!!

2022-07-10Disappointing. Got Uber eats, sweet plantains were missing from my order. Rice and beans came with just plain white rice, roast pork was more fat and gristle than meat, side order of beans came in a small coffee cup with barely any beans, a tiny eeny weeny side of French fries. I expected way more for $46.

2022-04-24Located on N.Plank Rd.1st~ The food & company I was with made me want to stay & throughly enjoy myself ❤️That said, let me tell u why I almost didnt stay.The bathroom is coed,very small, very dirty & the hand soap was really watered down.With all thats going on with CoVid19, the soap is desperately needed in full concentration!The only person available to serve, cook & collect the payment was very pleasant but never wore gloves & had dirt under her short finger nails.What can I say, I was sooo disappointed bc there were other reviews that also mentioned the dirty nails.Wish I would have read them before going 😔So the 3.5 stars I would have given are strictly for the food & pleasantries.

2022-03-26I probably should have known better but I ordered through Uber Eats for a delivery order. I ordered a cubano and it was the saddest thing I saw. They give the option for sweet plantains or tostones for the lunch specials but don’t send you either. The habichuelas weren’t in the dish but sent in small coffee cups and barely had anything in them. Just sent plain white rice despite the pictures of the food showing arroz con gandules. Overall, it was disappointing. Honestly your best bet is to go get food elsewhere, you’ll get more for your buck.

2022-04-15Nellys??? What did Black people ever do to you to make you hate them that much? The loath for us real deep in this store. Only if you knew you were black, the island 🏝️ you from Dominican Republic, which is really Hispaniola. Was a stop on the slave trade route where the Spaniards mixed with blacks forming a divided island which you share with Haiti. Dont ever spend your money here black!! Go find your own people to support

2022-03-03Honestly would not recommend they overcharge and for the quality it`s a joke, I got a small order of goat- Literally just a tiny bowl of goat meat that was mainly bones with no rice and a whole chicharron.. was charged 24 dollars for it. The Goat meat was hard and had no flavor, the pork ( chicharron ) was basically fat and soft skin , it`s supposed to crunchy and on top of that it was extremely oily, it tasted like Oil only. I honestly gave the goat meat to a homeless person and gave the chicharron to my dog. Wouldn`t recommend this place, I would recommend Dannys on Broadway by Rite Aid they charge a decent price for the food and the quality is always there, - Not the Dannys in lower Broadway they have horrible food as well.
