Netcost Market in other cities:
We bought the caviar (Gourmanoff brand) on December 31st , it was fresh and very good(was packed in December). Yesterday I came back to buy more caviar and I was so disappointed at home. The caviar smells and tastes differently than the one we bought on the 31st and it has blood clots. It also was packed in November so it’s 100% different quality caviar.Be very careful and attentive!
Obviously in a russian-heavy populated area, there’s gonna be a russian-heavy influence on the products they carry too so lol prices are sometimes lower than any other super markets near by, meat selection is pretty varied/spread out (lots of veggies in the front if that’s more your thing 👍🏻) and always clean. No real complaints about this place 👍🏻
Large European supermarket. So many Russian goodies, fresh foods, salads, pies, you name it. I have to control myself when I shop here so that I don’t over buy things I don’t need because everything is comforting and yummy.I highly recommend it to folks looking for a shop that carries a variety of European products as well as ones who have never been in one before, it’s a great way to get familiar with another culture.
I enjoyed this market so much. I was nearby getting my COVID vaccine and decided to shop there. I found foods there all in one place that I love and have not had a chance to eat in a long time. I returned 3 weeks later to shop again. They have online shopping too.. Located in a central area on Queens Boulevard. The food is European and Russian. Much larger than smaller stores of this type Ive seen. There is also a Kosher area.Foods I saw there: Variety of smoked fish,Variety of fish caviar and roe, classic boxed Russian cakes and many other baked and other desserts, Chocolates of many kinds, Produce-fruits and vegetables, Teas from around the world, Interesting Ice Creams, Meat sections-including Kosher, non-kosher and smoked meat and sausage. Frozen fish, meat dumplings and other frozen foods, Fresh baked bread, Large Deli section. Fruit juices and Preserves, some unusual varieties. Quick to prepare items. Long Salad Bar with European recipes.European and other grains. Frequent special deals offered.I will be back!
If youre a person of color dont shop here you are not welcomed. I had recently applied for a job here and my application kept getting denied so I decided to call the store and they told me to come in and apply. I walked in and the minute the manger saw me he decided to follow me around the store thinking I would steal ( Im brown btw). All the workers and white and so are the mangers, there is no diversity there and if youre a person of color they profile you. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a store and it was ridiculous that I was being followed.
Best delivery packaging! Everything was in temperature preserving bags, glass bottles carefully wrapped!Take out was pretty good but not what I remember Russian cuisine tasting like. Wish pirozhki were fried like they are usually are. I recommend ordering a little of everything to taste it and decide for yourself. Chicken breast with mushrooms was fantastic btw
This is a great store for Russian products. I love the variety. One thing that I dont really like is their buffet section. Some customers tend to use their hands to try things like sauerkrat and to pick up pickles. Sometimes staff would tell them not to do it, but that food is still there for other customers. They should pre-pack these products to avoid it. Some customers will still use their hands despite the signs telling them not to. Some will even taste things.Otherwise it is a good store. I love shopping there.
Its a supermarket. However its a supermarket that carries a large selection of Russian food - frozen, cooked, imported ingredients, locally made items labeled in Russian... The works. Amusingly, they do not seem to (all least regularly) carry Georgian staples, such as Khachapuri. That said most selections are solid. Prices are... A little high. Not nearly as bad as While Foods, but more than one would see at Trader Joe, for example.
This store is unlike other Netcost stores in the city. Many freezer items are well past due date. Some ice creams are dated to pre-COVID times. The same goes for prepared foods, especially seafood. The package of white smoked fish dated to be sold the day before contained no salmon listed on the label. I have a photo. The staff is surly, curt and dismissive. The kids who help to pack the food in bags are not trained to properly separate fish from fresh food, or packaged items from baked goods. Overall, if you shop here, be careful.
This location recently expanded and is now even bigger. The best place for Russian food and groceries, and really any groceries and veggies. They have a wide selection of fresh salads and meat/fish dishes at a very affordable price. So yum! Friendly staff too. Make sure you try their fresh bread!
Very nice experience, walked in after hearing they have red caviar on sale. They actually have a couple different brands. The nice and extra polite saleswoman spent extra time with me checking the current prices and looking at whether particular brands were kosher or not.I was actually warmly touched by the amount of kosher products available here.Happy to come again, thank you so much for the good experience.
Please the man in the bakery could a little nicer. When i was asking him a,question he turned around and ignored me. When i asked him again about a bread it seemed like i bothered him. And mumbled and again turned around. Just not right. Please retrain him with mire customer service skills . Thank you. The rest of the store is beautiful. It reminds me of shopping in Europe
Love this place! Had never heard of Netcost Market until just 3 days ago, when I visited the location all the way in Brighton Beach. So happy to have this location only 15 minutes away versus an hour away.Great selection of items.. love their choices of teas, frozen desserts, and the buffet. The plov was delicious. Prices seem to be a tiny bit more expensive than the Brighton Beach location, but nothing crazy.Cashiers were very friendly.
Absolute rip off that they charge $11.99 for yesterday food no matter what it is at their salad bar. Yesterday’s plov stone cold with two pieces of meat $15 is horrendous. Never buying any prepared food from them again. Most of clientele here pays with food stamps anyway so they don’t care about being overcharged but for us working people avoid this place if you can
The Valley Glatt section toward the rear left quarter of the store, saves me the trip to Wassermans in KGH, as Netcost not only have cold/hot buffet fresh prepared foods, but also a useful variety raw meats, pickled veg, frozen and refrigerated groceries, so its like having a competitively priced VHQ supermarket inside an eastern european ethnic market.as of this writing face masks are still required in the store even with proof of full vaccination. I will edit my review once I notice this policy has been modified. i thank the management here for being bike accommodative, just see that your staff tries harder to keep the restock boxes from being left laying around effectively narrowing many of the aisles.
This is the first and last time coming here simple food items priced ridiculously expensive, I was shopping at the mall center decided to buy some groceries here which was a big mistake the food doesn’t look appealing or fresh no good costumer service whatsoever, everyone working there seems very miserable and disconsolate...
I have never visited the Queens store, however i do like the Brooklyn store. My issue with this review regards only for Netcost delivery services. For the second time their delivery service is just AWFUL.If you want to get your groceries and not being stuck at home waiting for nothing, do not order from them!!!!!, if you can drive there , thats fine.I ordered online twice, and every time its just an awful experience, theyre always late and when you dare to ask about why you let me sit at home for 2 hours according to your ETA , you being scolded with a response of Do you want me to cancel your order ?. Obviously after you been waiting for over 24 hours for your groceries at 4 pm and you know that if you order somewhere else you not gonna get any food today you leave it be.Long story short - Netcost doesnt work with instacart and it comes at the customer expense. DO NOT ORDER VIA THEIR ONLINE SERVICES!!!!!!!!
Overall a pretty good supermarket. Prices on a lot of items seem to be lower than in other markets and everything is fresh... but unfortunately its overcrowded most of the time (place is not that big). Line to the cold-cut section is always super long, so I never get a chance to get my favorite sausage. Good E.European food selection & going there is very convenient if you are a Russian living in Queens! Male staff and ladies at the register are pretty friendly. However, the very first time I went there I had a bad experience with a woman who sounded like perhaps she was the supervisor there? She yelled at me after I asked her a question.. but its ok. I will be coming back anyway. JUST MAKE SURE NOT TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS & YOU WILL BE FINE. lol
Netcost is my favorite supermarket in this area. They recently expanded and certainly Covid has taken away the open market feel of the old store, but the store is huge and CLEAN. Now I go there for the bread, especially early Saturday when it is hot and fresh.Today I had to wait for the bread to cool in order to buy the three selections you see in the picture and the two kielbasa that I will be serving at a dinner party tonight as apps.Stop by and browse, plan on spending sometime there.p.s.I didnt even cover their massive holiday candy collection. AMAZING! kip
Be careful when buying your food here. The employees intentionally remove the expiration dates of products or cover the dates with price tags so that you dont notice the product is about to expire in less than a month (sometimes days!). They like to put products that are close to their expiration date on sale to get rid of them. Also they forget to remove sales tickets from the shelves so when you go and pay they charge you the full price. Besides these issues the food is good and so is the variety but until these problems are addressed I will give the place a low rating because this is not professional.
We love this store that has so many European brands. It also has:- ready to eat section with lots of variety;- sweets section, including home made cakes;- caviar & smoked fish section;- cold cuts; And other goodies. The only con is the lines at the cold cut section & cashiers - so slow.
Great Russian store, great products and choices...... Awesone service . I gave 1 star less is for tight space to shop with kids and stroller. And there is gate that has to be opened by someone for us to go inside the store... I guess there are a reason for that....Overall experience is excellent.
If you speak Russian or are lucky enough to date or be married to someone that does, youve been here before. Great foods, many of which are nowhere to be found outside their walls. The caviar is right, the bread is fresh, and the fruit+veg are front and center. Real food, real good.
The fresh bread is the best and they have a great selection of food from cold cuts, salads and more. They’re a little pricey and you can find tings cheaper in other stores. The Netcost member card helps when they have sales and you can find some good buys. Parking is a pain to find, especially on the weekends.
I am honestly stupefied by the behavior of the average Russian consumer. Its rare to get in line to pay for my items and not have some drama occur with a patron ahead of me. They either want to return something, have a million questions for the cashier that require clarification, want to argue over pricing or discounts, or need to run back into the store to make an exchange. Russians also have a habit of only doing half their shopping before they get in line. Then they run back and forth doing the second half while waiting. The deli section is an absolute free-for-all and the elderly are the worst offenders when it comes to trying to skip ahead. Then when they are being served, they absolutely need to taste test a slice of everything and really think about it hard before buying, regardless of the giant line forming around them. Thats another thing about Russian shoppers -- the complete and utter lack of situational awareness. It will never cease to amaze me how many of them can just gather in a bottleneck area and have a friendly conversation like theyre in the freaking park, completely oblivious to the fact that theyre blocking traffic. Still others will leave their wagons smack in the middle of the aisle while they appraise an item and seem genuinely shocked and offended when someone angrily moves their wagon out of the way. Its insane and it truly does seem to be disproportionately endemic to this particular ethnicity. I mean, I honestly cannot fathom how this giant swathe of humanity makes it to adulthood without ever learning how to share and navigate public space in an orderly and considerate manner. It just seems like each of them resides in a bubble of self-concern, completely unaware of cause-and-effect relationships or the rules of basic civility. I constantly see old ladies pause with their wagons in the middle of a doorway so they can look at tomatoes because somehow a lifetime of experience passing through doorways wasnt sufficient for them to learn that INEVITABLY when youre in a crowded market, there will always be a person behind you who will need to get by. The last time I was there I found myself waiting in line behind a couple with three young kids, one of whom was crying incessantly. There was only one line open and they had a cart full of groceries and numerous shoppers queued up behind them. It took them forever to get checked out and bagged up and just as it was done, the man handed his crying child to his wife and asked the cashier for the form for a discount card, which he proceeded to fill out while we all waited behind him, exasperated. That was the last straw for me. This market has some of the best produce and prepared foods in the neighborhood, but I just cannot bring myself to contend with the parade of idiocy that is the status quo at pretty much any market frequented by a majority of Russian customers.
10/06/17. Old food, pay attention !!!I got extremely sick getting meal from this place. I will never go back shopping at this place!I DONT RECOMMEND IT .This morning, I went to this place to grab some lunch around 10:20 am. I had 2 pieces of cooked fish . First minute I had a very strange taste eating the fish ,iron taste, and after 10-15 minutes a severe stomach pain . I had to leave my job and go home afraid to drive. My colleges suggested me to call the Ambulance, and I feel sorry I didnt listen at them.
This is a great Russian ethnic super market that has many great Eastern Europe delicacies. There are cold/hot bars, fish/meat/cheese counters. You can run in quickly to get a staple like sugar or browse the isles to discover something new.Parking is not super convenient as this store is located right on Queens Boulevard.
If you miss the atmosphere of Russian stores in 90s, you can get it here. Cashiers are never nice and polite, giving you a bit of attitude.Check the expiration dates and a presence of mold on some products. Some things are really good in here, but you will never enjoy shopping in Netcost.
Rego Parks local Russian supermarket. Its big and sort of clean inside but all the positive things stop there. The people inside are so rude, especially the cashiers. Im not white so every time I go, people are always giving me odd looks as if to say, what are you doing here. The cashiers are incredibly rude and give me a nasty attitude in some form or another, especially the young male teenagers. During checkout, they dont say a word to me and dont look at me the entire time. They dump (actually DUMP) my items in my bag and leave my bag where they DUMPED it. They dont even tell me the total of what I owe and just stare at me aggressively as I pay. Thats the only time they look at me. This has happened each time Ive gone with different cashiers. Its not a one time thing.Theres a hostile tension inside the place every time I go. Theyre pretty racist and let you know that POCs are not welcome here. Ive stopped going because its not worth the bad treatment and im not giving that racist place any of my money. If you look at other commentators reviews, theyll pretty much have the same complaint as me.
Me and my relatives go shopping there for many years but lately we had problems. A month a go my husband got food poisoning from caviar. This week my father got food poisoning from olivier salad that he bought on Sunday. (Doctor confirmed it was food poisoning Monday) .Watch what you buying, ask if you can taste it, especially with all the cooked food and beautiful looking cooked meats
Its nice that social distancing rule is now taking a place in the store. But its not effective in the iesles since there is two ways walking and people are getting to close to each others. It doesnt make any sense to keep people outside waiting if inside it is still the same as before. Dear management please take this into consideration.
I think Ive been to all NetCost Market locations (including both ones in Philly area and maybe except the new one in NJ) at some point and I have to say that this location in Queens is probably the worst among all of them. The store itself is extremely small and shopping aisles are so narrow that youd have very hard time using a shopping cart there. The selection of caviar is really poor, much worse than what I got used to frequenting other NetCost locations. Many items are either expired or extremely close to their expiration date (e.g. I accidentally managed to buy a pack of juice with 1 year shelf time that was about to expire in 2 days!... so technically it was not expired, but you cant call it fresh either). The location is probably convenient for those living nearby and walking to it, but its terrible for those willing to drive and park somewhere close to the store - good luck finding a parking spot withing a few blocks even in the evening. All in all, it was just close to where Ive been anyways, but in future if I am planning to do some major groceries shopping, Id drive a little more and hit one of Brooklyn locations - usually much better experience there.
Interesting selection of Eastern European foods, more than a dozen varieties of buc kwheat (!), old style meat cuts, various smoked fish, hot bar..oh and they also carry D Artagnan products. Better prices than in Manhattan, not too surprisingly. Its very close to NYU Langone so convenient stopover if you are there.
Great place for Russian and European food, average service at meat/fish department with lots of fresh/good selection of sausages, cheeses, fish products, lots of mils productions, smoke fish/herring, good selection of nuts and seeds, great selection of canned food/sweets, large area with fruits and vegies, good choice of cooked food and prepared salads, good selection of cakes from Russia and Ukraine, very challenging to find parking on the weekends,.
I did shopping many times at this store because of free delivery to my apartmentToday I spent 300$ and when i was asking the cashier about delivery he was asking me about my address because they only do delivery in 2miles distance ,I told him that many time I had my item delivered home and he said unfortunately my address is 2,2miles and is not possible , that he called the manager ms.Maryam who told me that probably I bought stuff from them 3 years ago since then they changed the policy ...I explained that last time was 3-4 months ago and si said it’s not possible they never did delivery at my address
Russian market with Russian music and Russian announcements. I cant imagine a fire drill in this place! Total chaos! Crowd and loud. Claustrophobics stay away! Price is ok for the area (Rego Park/Forest Hills). Lots of double parking on the street. By the way, I couldnt understand the cashier but she was friendly in face of my ignorance. Who wouldve thought I went to Russia in Queens NY ....

2022-01-18Modernized grocery offering innumerable international delicacies in a familiar American environment. Customized jingles played through the public address system, as well as a curated playlist. Merchandise attractively displayed and helpfully organized. Prices fair for Rego Park. Twelve plasma screens at check-put displaying commercials for Netcost, as well as local advertisements. Security guard at the door. Russian books on sale at check-out!

2022-04-23I often use this store. It is in this place that fresh sour cream is not always available, fruits and berries are expensive and a little spoiled. The staff is not always friendly. In other places, Netcost is much better.

2022-04-03They have some delicious fresh baked bread. A ready to eat food bar, its alright. Some stuff is tasty but mostly just alright and more than not the food smells/tastes like their refrigerator and cuz I guess they make it in large batches u can get something fresh or thats been there for who knows how long. In general quiet a large selection of anything you can think of russian food wise.Update. Became much larger, much cleaner, much more organized. The fruit and vegetables section is kept impeccable. Whole Foods should take notes!

2022-01-18Update 01/17/22Did reach out to the store to see if they could resolve the issue, as they responded to this review asking me to contact them. But no one responded yet...Yesterday, after shopping in the store I opted for a delivery option as my order ended up being hefty (spent over $150)The order has been processed at 1pm and the store policy says they have 4 hours to deliver the goods. However, my order arrived around 8pm. I was upset as no one could give me an explanation as to why my order was delayed. When I called at 5 pm inquiring about my order, the customer service rep said the ETA was 6:40 and she didnt know why it was late. The delivery guy who arrived at 8 pm had no answers either.I had a lot of perishable produce, dairy and meats, that I wont risk consuming since they were sitting around all day without refrigeration. When I ask about compensation, I was told that I would have to bring the products back the next day(today) to the store to get refunded.I had an early flight today so I could not do it obviously. But even if I was in NY, do they think its accommodating to ask a customer who ordered a DELIVERY to bring the goods back??I have been shopping there ever since I moved to Forest Hills in the summer, and Im really disappointed with how they mishandled this situation.

2022-03-23As an employee of netcost market I caught COVID-19 through a former employee. (who got fired for being sick). As I was recovering I wasn’t benefited as I got fired as well. I really loved this place their was a few great workers who genuinely wanted to make an impact on peoples lives while shopping , but majority of the workers were unsanitary coughing in their hands and handling fruits or other products. As a customer I loved this place it has a large selection of items to shop , the GM (Marsha) is very rude and negative and only cares about people who speak her language. I’m speaking genuinely from the heart as I never got the chance to grow the stores population of customers. It is very unfair and unwelcoming for a worker and customer to enter this establishment. If their was a manager skilled enough to manage employees based on their skills and roles this supermarket can be better. Favoritism is how all managers are brought up, not based off of the skills they come with. The managers are mediocre and doesn’t have the right mindset for that role!

2022-06-21Sweet buns with poppy seeds were repulsive because of the high amount of yeast in them. Some products are overpriced. Also, many items are from russia and belarus, so I wish this store stopped sponsoring the war in Ukraine.

2022-03-29Netcost Market continuously sells expired meat, dairy, cakes and boxed chocolates and salads! They false advertising discounts that are actually regularly price! Their management is extremely rude and won’t even apologize when you bring them back expired food. Once I brought back Rosen Kyiv Cake with mold in it and their manager said “why are you complaining? It’s penicillin growing, it’s good for you” . On top of everything this chain is selling Russian products thus paying for terrorism!

2018-12-05This is one of the best international/Eastern European grocery store chains within the Brooklyn/NYC area. Being born in the Soviet Union, I grew up on certain foods that my mom always cooked; this grocery store has a huge selection of the foods Ive craved for so long. It has one of the largest Russian, Ukrainian, and European food selections Ive seen compared to other all the other international food stores Ive ever been to! To be honest, it is really quite impressive! The produce is extremely fresh, and the selection of foods available is overwhelming! From different assortments of salads, to deli meats, fish and desert section. My only gripe is their lack of customer service. For example, if they are low on pickled red tomatoes, it would take you a while finding some to help you refill the tray. Ive actually had to knock on the managers door to get help help at one point, because I wasnt able to find anyone to help me. Other than this small issue, my overall experience was fantastic! Netcost also has a Netcost Market Club Card, in which the card gives you access to some discounts discounts at all Netcost Market locations, and on selected days we offer a 10% discount for senior citizens! They do require ID for the senior discount,. so be ready to pull out your ID anytime you plan on using your personal senior ID card.

2022-03-30The store is nice and clean the workers on the other hand are disgusting I go there very often and felt discussed when I passed by one of the workers and he made inappropriate comments towards me, don’t think I’ll return anytime soon so watch out ladies! Don’t go if you want to be harassed.
