I love this place. It is small, intimate and stocked from floor to ceiling with everything. It is the place to start if you want to change your diet, cooking and overall health. My holistic nutritionist is a fan. There are myriads of teas, dark chocolate, candid fruits, spices and rices, to name a few. Be sure to go to Kalutsyans next door and the other stores further up the block. The hair, beauty products and colognes are my all time favorite. You will not find such old world products anywhere else. It is a taste of India right here in NYC.
Go here and support these folks! They’re so kind and their prices are much more reasonable than other Indian stores in Manhattan. If you live in Manhattan and are worried about traveling to other boroughs for Indian groceries because of COVID, I would suggest paying them a visit.
The store feels like a local grocery because of the friendly and welcoming staff. We routinely ask questions about ingredients and for recommendations, which they are happy to provide. The prices are competitive and generally better than the well-known neighbor. They rarely let us leave without sampling a sweet treat.
When I first came in I was greeted pleasantly and the owners welcomed me. I was offered samples of Indian food and I was given information about Indian movies and the environment of the store was very peaceful and it was carefree. It was very easy to laugh and make conversation and the prices are very reasonable
If I could give 10 stars to this place, I would give it. Great customer service and well stocked aisles are the trademarks of this place. The best thing about this place is that if you are planning to cook an Indian meal, you will find everything right under one roof. The shopkeeper is polite and helps out in selecting the right ingredients for you. Unlike some of the other shops I have visited, this shop has all the products within the Best by or expiry date and that is what brings me to this shop again and again. The shopkeeper often offers the customers a piece of Indian sweet dish during the checkout and sometimes you get to pick your own sweet. Vola! Hehe! Well, that is all I can speak about the great customer service and recommend you drop by when you are looking for the quick Indian food-fix. Wishing their business a very good luck, as always.
Its much more relaxed than Kalutsyans and possibly less expensive. It was well stocked. The owners were lovely and friendly. They were also quite helpful. They have us little tastes if their prepared foods. They even have them to people who didnt buy anythingId definitely shop there again.
Wonderful spice selections for low prices! Our favorites are the tandori chicken masala special mother recipe, hot curry powder mother recipe, garam masala home style, and the res el hanout. Great for a variety of meats and veggies. The man working there was very helpful in choosing some new spices and explained how to use them. The woman at the counter is nice and respectful, she even offered me a free candy!
Good range of stuff. I could find almost everything I was looking for. The person at the counter offered me a piece of Barfi when he saw I bought frozen dessert and said Buy this next time, we make it fresh and at home. I guess I am going back for some indian sweets. A bit overpriced on a few items I think, but works fine because this shop was a find for me.
Didnt like it at all. They havent labeled any of their food items. How am I supposed to know what to pick what not to. Some of the items I did inquire about were way more expensive than other indian stores. Also they dont have much variety of things. There are better options.

2022-07-09Dont let the small entrance fool you, the shop is large inside and has tons of items of various kinds for people who want to make Indian food or enjoy fresh Indian sweets. Prices are quite decent and better than some other stores nearby. They have tons of spices (over 50 kinds), Indian snacks, masala mixes, frozen food items including desserts like kulfi, Indian lentils and grains, paneer, yogurt, maggi, Indian herbs (mostly dried). They also have tons of Indian utensils, pressure cookers, mortar and pestle etc.

2021-12-28Great/best store in Lower Manhattan to get Indian groceries! You can find almost anything here but I did note a few expired goods on the shelves. Hakimbhai was really kind and sent me off with free samosas. Thank you!

2021-11-24Good place but I visited 10 minutes before store close and the person on the cashier charged me $7.99 instead of $4.99 and told that was the price if you need. And after feeling that I’d report, offered us some snacks and sweets to buy and when we didn’t buy, gave us some samosa and other stuff. Then asked for cash instead of card so save himself, felt like they’re too opportunistic as far as overpricing and cheating. Otherwise okay.

2020-12-25Fantastic little store with all the spices you could need. The uncle at the front desk was incredibly friendly and gave us some neat ideas for using the sugar we bought. Veggie samosas at the front were also delicious!
