Excellent place to take family or go solo to unplug, relax and be present outside.The wooded section is great for cooling off in summer. Very cool bridge over the Bronx River. Check the website for seasonal events, like the spring orchid show.
Beautiful botanical garden that is big! There is a open air shuttle that takes you around the park in about 30 mins Recommend that you avoid visiting on the weekend because the crowds can get very large. Went to the orchid show on a Saturday and it was so crowded that the experience was limited. Try going on a weekday. Buy tickets in advance through their website.
If you like to see the best orchids in the world, this is a place you definitely need to come, everything is gorgeous and the air feels so clean. If you are in NY and don’t know what to do, this place should is an amazing option to appreciate, learn and spend the best time with your love ones.
Visited for the holiday light and train shows and we were not disappointed! The train show has lots of small scale bridges and buildings from all over New York which was really cool. They’re set up around different greenhouses which was nice. The lights were also very pretty. I’m glad we checked this out, definitely worth the ticket price.
Excellent experience visiting at night for the winter Glow. The gardens sheet wonderfully lit up and even with it raining we had a great time. There was street food and full bar service in the garden allowing us to drink and eat. Would recommend.
The exhibit called GLOW at the New York Botanical Garden was magical. The garden displayed an array of changing colors throughout reflecting on trees, the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, the facade of the library building and on the ice sculpture coming to life as the artist was working to complete it. Words nor photos cannot truly capture the experience. It was a very enchanting way to enjoy a walk in the garden at night as it came to life in a burst of colors and holiday lights.
A fantastic place to spend a day at. The spring and autumn are awesome seasons are different and equally exciting, The recent Kusamas hybrid (inside/outside) installations/exhibition was the perfect blend with nature. If you havent visited yet then you should. Highly recommended.
The Holiday Train show is amazing. First time we visit. Really entertaining and lovey, well built and a nice way to pass a full day walking the botanical gardens after the showThe nybg is a great place to visit.
The garden is always a nice escape from the city. You can let go of your toddlers and let them run free in the beautifully manicured landscaping. We went to the train show. It was indoors so the kids were not too cold and the curated path was thoughtfully planned out. At times, it felt like Alice in wonderland! It was a bit crowded. The rest of the garden was nice too, I kind of wish there were more paths immerse you into nature, but I think that’s more to be expected in the summer when the plants blossom into lush gardens.
Came here for the holiday lights & train show between Christmas and New Years and had a lovely time!The train show was indoors, but they checked vaccination records, and everyone was masked. There was a short video about how the models were made before the exhibition. Every building modeled uses real found natural materials and they were incredible to see. There werent a lot of people inside so you could really go up and close with a model and look at all the details.The light show was a bit underwhelming. There were various fixtures around the grounds to walk through. But the main light show was a short sequence of lights projected onto a building in leaf patterns.
Awesome escape to nature while staying within New York City limits!The integration of the gardens with the surrounding Thain Family Forrest is superb!And the main conservatory is wonderfully diverse and fun to climb through and explore.Good for all ages! Highly recommend!
NY Botanical Gardens is one of the most beautiful places in the Bronx to visit. The Orchid Show is an gorgeous a definite must see if you visit during February through May. The Botanical Gardens ground is great place to hangout and take photos 📸 too and its free for Bronxites if you have the NYC ID.
Perfect spot to get away from the City and into the garden. Be careful bringing plant people here as we will buy every plant in the greenhouse shop before leaving. Mystical, magical, can’t wait to go again if I can when it’s warmer.
Lots to enjoy on these 250 acres. Love the tram tour. The arboretum is stunning and surprisingly accessible.
Spent the day in the last week of April at the garden specifically to see the last week of the Orchid Show 2022. The show was beautiful. Then took a guided tram ride around the gardens. Highly recommended. Expensive lunch at the cafe. Recommend eating before you come or bring snacks. Picnics are not allowed.
I visited in October 2021 during Yayoi Kusama’s Cosmic nature exhibit. I only saw the gardens and didn’t get the all inclusive pass but there was much to see outside as well. Besides the art installations, there are flowers gardens, varieties of trees and a farmers market. The fountain was impressive to see as well.
We went to the Train and Light shows, they did not disappoint. There was a rather high price tag. The models of old New York buildings and mansions were spectacular, especially when you consider they were made from natural materials-leaves, nuts, berries, mushrooms, etc. The lights, too, were enchanting. It made for a magical night.
Glow was awesome. Great light show with immersive illuminations pretty creatively placed throughout all of their plants and structures. Definitely a great experience to have.
The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) is an absolutely amazing attraction and one of New York’s most iconic and revered destination.Located in Bronx, New York, the NYBG was first established in 1891, spans 250 acres, and contains over a million plants.Due to its rich heritage and worldwide acclaim and recognition, the NYBG was designated a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register Of Historic Places in 1967.In January of 2022, I brought and treated both my wife and myself for a visit to the NYBG to see the garden’s amazing flowers and plants as well as sightsee and explore the Holiday Train Show & NYBG Glow event.Both my wife and I loved every single moment of our visit at the garden. We saw and learned much about the garden’s ravishingly beautiful flowers and plants and were absolutely amazed by the multitude of creative displays at the Holiday Train Show. Our favorite displays were the Grand Central, Central Park, & NYC Skyline set.Last but certainly not least, my wife and I were stunned and swept away by the beauty and elegance of the NYBG Glow event. Without giving too much away, I will simply say that NYBG Glow is a magnificent event to behold and explore!!!If you admire and appreciate beauty, creativity, and grandeur, then definitely take the time to visit and explore the NYBG a popular and world renowned destination!!!
Awesome. The holiday lights displays are fantastic. They begin in the early evening till NYBG closes. Additionally there is the model train display and the ice sculpting. This is a great place for people of all ages. Reservations need to be made because of COVID-19. NYBG has nice restaurants, and if youre looking for gifts an excellent gift store offering a wide selection of items. Theres parking lots, and its accessible via of railroad service, and bus service.
Overall a great Garden. It was very clean and walkable. There was a free trolley to ride to the north side as well. Orchid show was also very pretty.
Wonderful NYC landmark. Location is not easy to get there if you rely on public transportation. But it’s a great Botanical garden! Everything is beautiful. Staffs are friendly too. Lots of outdoor sitting area to enjoy the moment of peace and the fragrance in the air.
I visited the botanical garden in June 2021 for going Yayoi Kusama exhibition. It was huge garden and I could escape to nature from the city. I think spring is the best season going there.
The orchid exhibition is a riot of colors beyond imagination. Beautifully done, well organized, good number of helpful staff sprinkled throughout the venue. No pressure to stop taking photographs and move on.
NY Botanical Gradens is beautiful in the winter. I love strolling the grounds and then visiting the Enid Haupt Conservancy to escape the winter cold and enjoy tropical forests and deserts!
Superb! Gorgeous exhibits and the flowers and lawns are wonderfully tended too. The Kusama exhibit was somewhat pricier than I had imagined. The indoor sights required a pass that was around $35 additional to the entry fee. Most museum entry is cheaper than this . While I can afford it, some people who may want to come here might not be able to, so that was a bit sad. :[ Cafe has decent coffee. but the farmers market took my heart. Yummy fresh bread and rice balls and I washed it all down with some fresh juice. All local fresh vendors ! I wasnt able to sit on the grass like I would have wanted in a lush area like this but there were plenty of benches. The gardens in front of the conservatory??? WOW. I felt like I was queen in her royal garden. So dang gorgeous!
November is not the optimal time to visit. The tram ride was pleasant, but dress warmly, because the motion of the tram creates a wind chill. The conservatory is worthwhile any time of the year, but part of it was blocked off during our visit for the preparation of a holiday train display.The visit was pricey: $20 to park, and $30 per full-garden pass, minus a stingy $2 discount for seniors. There is no off-season discount.
It is such a beautiful place to visit, even more so during the holiday season, while the holiday train exhibit is going on.
You cant go wrong with this place. Theres a little something for everyone. The grounds are beautifully kept and they have all sorts of events and exhibits going on throughout the year. NYC residents get discounted admission tickets, but the annual pass is totally worth the price. You can bring lunch or they have two eateries on site. Plan to spend several hours here, but if you really want to see absolutely everything they have to offer, youll need at least 2-3 days. Make sure to wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothes and your best walking shoes.(March 19, 2022: This years orchid show is totally underwhelming. Its beautiful and all, but its got many, many fewer orchids compared to years past. For example, in the past, there was a wall of orchids and a tower of orchids. In past shows, there were arches over the walkway in the conservatory with literally thousands of orchids dangling overhead. There was almost none of that at this years show. Its kind of worth visiting if youre in the area (although its overpriced for what it is this year), but dont drive here just to see it.
Amazing, stunning views and great plant diversity. I really recommend visiting this wonderful place to spend all day walking and learning about botany.
Nice park to visit. but the most beautiful is the conservatory. It has two entrances, this is the main one.
The train show is now on till end of December. There is still some leaves on the trees. Do not forget to bring and ID and the vaccination proof. They ask every time you go inside of any of the facilities. I was going to take one of the stars because of it....but not today, maybe next time.
A beautiful garden for NYC, but we definitely went at the wrong season (early September). It was hot outside, and very green still, but we missed almost all of the flower bloom. The workers are all very friendly and they check for covid vaccine cards, but most of the exhibits are outdoors, so masks werent on a lot of people. The front entrance and surrounding areas are very crowded, but as you go deeper there are far fewer people. I wish the signs on the walkways were more descriptive or tied into the maps better, because it was difficult to figure out where to go at times to get to certain exhibits we wanted to see. Parking wasnt terribly hard to find in the Bronx, we got some under a bridge about a ten minute walk from the gardens, but paid parking is expensive (as are tickets to NYBG! I feel it should be a little cheaper). All in all, expansive park, lot of things to see, just make sure you go during the right season! We went during an art exhibition too, so most of my photos were of the artists sculptures. Also! Lot of wildlife, we saw a lot of chipmunks, birds, squirrels, and 2 snakes that slithered on the walkway as we were walking, just feet away from us! (snakes were garter snakes, so not dangerous at all).
So beautiful and well taken care of. Lots of points of interest. Always a favorite place to visit with locals or tourists. Definitely worth a visit any time. They also had extra masks for those who forgot one to go inside! Clean facilities. Interesting food and shop items. Great staff who are super helpful and kind. Bring water and wear shoes to walk in. Map was not totally clear.
The New York Botanical Garden is a great place to spend the day hiking around beautifully scenic paved paths when the weather is nice, but there are plenty of things to see when its not too. Take a walk through the Conservatory and feel the different climates some plants are suited to, and keep your eyes on their website for special exhibits, like the Kusama exhibit currently ongoing.
Went to see the Yayoi Kusama exhibit. We got there at 11:30 and did not need to wait in line for anything other than the tram, which I highly recommend as the grounds are large. The tram is included in the ticket. It was not too crowded and the gardens and exhibits were great. I suggest bringing your own water and snacks.

The best place to go to at the peak of Spring. The blooms were magnificent and the exhibition show had me feeling like I was transported to a new environment all together.
We were lucky to visit the New York Botanical Garden during the Yayoi Kusama exhibit.The garden is massive. There is a tram tour you can take. The conservatory is a necessary stop.The rose garden is also beautiful in season. Great place during fall leaf peeping. Azaleas and lilacs also nice in season.Great place for a nature walk, worth the visit.
My all time favorite botanical garden in New York City is in the Bronx. I never get tired of visiting over and over, always discover something new. Employees are always friendly and helpful. Gardeners and maintenance crew keep this place spotless! A must see for tourist and residents.
A wonderful place for a day visit if you like nature. Youll forget youre in New York City. Very peaceful, beautiful and clean. Bring your own food and have a picnic lunch (their offerings are just okay).
A LITTLE HIDDEN GEM IN THE BRONX! I love coming here. When I come here I get to enjoy all that beauty has to offer. Even throughout the pandemic, it was open for our enjoyment. All of the staff at NYBG are so kind and caring. It is a great place to visit to watch birds, butterflies and take pictures to enjoy for years to come. Highly recommend visiting at least 4 times a year; once for each season - in order for you to see the vast changes in the environment and to marvel at the beautiful display of natures art! This spot is more than just a garden, it is an outdoor classroom.Parents, take your kids here, teach them about nature, and teach them to respect our beautiful planet.
Really lovely time exploring the conservatory on a winter day. I held back a star because it would be awfully expensive for a family of four to visit.
Worth visiting throughout the year. Always something new to see. Finding parking is often a problem. Within the garden, signage is inadequate.
Absolutely lovely! So well maintained and taken care of! The greenhouses that showed the rainforest and dessert vegetation where stunning!
I wish I had these gardens in my neck of the woods theny are just wonderful. There are so many different variety of plants & flowers it is a site to behold in every direction you look.
Enjoyed it way more than I expected. The wide variety of bees feeding on the variety of flowers was astounding. Not to mention the wild rabbits, turtles and frogs in the middle of New York City.
It was my first time here and it did not disappoint! Parking on site is $20 per car for the full day, easy to enter and walked around the conservatory since it was a rainy day. I bought tickets online, making the total be $60 ($30/person). Highly recommend coming to see the beautiful diverse flora from around the world, here in the Bronx. Bring your phone or camera (masks are optional currently). There are bathrooms throughout and plenty of photo op spots!
Enjoyed everything I encountered. People were amazing, food was amazing. The gift shop has wonderful plants. Prepare to walk a lot. The price was a bit much. I think the accessibility for wheel chairs was acceptable.

Well worth the short train trip to feel like in the country. Note dining venue capacity is small. Be prepared to wait or bring your own. Surprising that they dont mind ppl leaving food scraps that may attract rodents.
It was a amazing experience to visit nybg glow & holiday train show. Best place to take kids.
I love this place but its a bit expensive to visit. At $30 per adult, asking an additional $20 to park seems a tad unfair. We ate at the Pine Tree Café and really enjoyed it. The heirloom tomato sandwich with mozzarella on focaccia bread (warmed) was really excellent. There were plenty of seating choices both indoors and out. We sat outside on some nice benches since it was a warm day. The garden shop was really amazing! We also got to walk around the grounds a bit, and had it not been winter, we could have stayed all day, which would perhaps have made entry fees worth it. We also stopped and talked with one of the gardeners; an Australian, who was very knowledgeable about the history of the rock garden he was working in. All in all a very nice visit!
It is better to visit this botanical garden and stay there for the whole day. There is so much to see. The garden covers a huge area. It can be reached by train from Grand Central Station, or by car. In addition to the walking area there is a lovely greenhouse where at the time of my visit there was an orchid festival - very beautiful. Beautiful library building. MUST VISIT!
One of the best places to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Even when it gets crowded, there is always a place where you can find serenity among nature. Theres always something interesting to see even in the winter. The rock garden is probably something that is overlooked by many but is a lovely and serene nook. The food is incredibly overpriced, so feel free to bring your own snacks and eat at one of the several picnic tables that they have available.
Great place to go with your children. Let you understand and better appreciate nature.

What a beautiful botanical garden! Easy commute from Manhattan. Kind staff. Incredible garden! Visited the Kusama exhibition -highly recommend. You can easily spend the whole day there. Wear your walking shoes!

Excellent grounds. Huge garden with lots of walking areas. Tram is a good catch for those who dont want to walk so much. Must catch the Kusama exhibit before it ends in October. Metro north stop is convenient. Nice childrens adventure park that had scavenger hunts and other activity. Great visit for all ages.
Entered with a school pass. Did not allow entry to the indoor gardens or any special events. Paid $30 to park in the NYBQ lot even though it was advertised $20. Wasn’t going to pay another $35pp for the additionals like riding the tram. The Garden was beautiful still. Good hiking day 😊. Never knew you can canoe here.
A bit of a journey out from Bedstuy Brooklyn but well worth the trip. A large expanse that feels isolated from the city and provides a great escape. Everything is meticulously laid out and labeled, which made for a very educational experience.Came for Yayoi Kusama and stayed for the Conservatory, which is a must see. Easily one of the best I have ever seen around the world, with a huge variety of interesting and unique plants in various ecosystems. Amazing collection. Highly recommend a visit to provide a feast for your eyes.Theres a shuttle that does laps around the garden. But bring good walking shoes as its much more enjoyable to stroll around. Getting there by public transit - the 2 and 5 lines will drop you near the eastern entrance which was very convenient. Stop by Tacos El Bronco 2 before heading home for some amazing, authentic al pastor tacos before falling asleep on the long trip back home. Looking forward to visiting again in the future.
This place is beautiful, but the policies are not.We bought tickets without knowing the weather was going to be so bad. We try to reschedule, but they dont allow. We still when there raining but our surprise was that the indoor places was closed. Really disappointed. I love what we saw, but definitely we have to comeback.Also keep in mind that many of the plants are seasonal, so you need to get informed before you plan your visit.
Its a beautiful place to walk, enjoy the day with the kiddos, learning about plants, it has a tram if you go with elder person and they cant walk long distance
Good botanical garden with fun displays at Christmas time
GLOW and the Holiday Train exhibit are a MUST SEE!! Several food truck options as well as hot chocolate and wine.
First of all, the wait time to get into the parking lot (with the car) was at least 20 minutes. Parking lot was packed. Then walking from the back of the parking lot no one actually checked our outdoor only passes. Not sure why to go into all this trouble of reserving timed tickets (we are members) and then no one checks them! We saw the cherry trees blossoming, lilacs were so beautifully frequent, and sculptures were a nice addition. However, the garden was just packed! The lines were to see indoor exhibits, to take the trolley, even to enter the store... I get it was a weekend, but so many people?! If you can - go early, and during the week. That’s what we are going to do to actually enjoy this beautiful space next time🥰
Absolutely beautiful botanicals garden in Bronx. It’s a bit troublesome to get to from midtown but if I use the metro north it’s really east to get to. Station would be right in front of the botanical garden too. It’s really big garden so be prepared to walk. It’s mostly wheelchair accessible so it was not too difficult with stroller.
I went to college in the Bronx and was privileged enough to have free access to the Botanical Gardens with my student ID. I had so many beautiful mornings and afternoons here when I lived in the Bronx for almost 5 years. If I had a day here, it was always a good day.No longer living in NYC, today being the first beautiful day of the year, I realize how much Ive missed ~the Botans~. I do think the price is steep but it is absolutely worth it for a lovely day in an unexpected oasis in NYC. Plus Wednesdays are free for NYC residents. The employees and volunteers have always been so kind and helpful. I went the few days after it reopened after being closed to the public by COVID, and they were just as excited as the visitors to be open. The gift shop is also so nicely curated, a great place to find a gift for yourself or a loved one.I cannot wait to come back to this lovely piece of land with so much beautiful energy in the near future.

His has to be my favorite botanical garden location out of all in NYC, so many flowers and plants and the entire garden it self is so well maintained. The staff is super nice and you definitely have a great time! Just make sure you come in the perfect weather because it can get a bit nippy while walking thru the forest and waterfall section.
Fun place to look at tons of different kinds of flowers. The food places are SUPER crowded, so I would suggest bringing your own food. Most of the botanical gardens indoor areas are closed because of Covid-19 but there is still more then enough to see.
First time visiting the NYBG. Weather was great to be outside. We purchased tickets for the outdoor exhibits of Yayoi Kusamas Cosmic Nature work because tickets to experience both indoor and outdoor were sold out. Needless to say, outdoors was a handful! There is so much to see, not just the special exhibit but the other gardens that are part of the park.Definitely go early so you get to experience the whole area which is huge. There are many places to take pictures, some of the ones we took are attached. Masks are required, the space is very open so no need to worry about being too close to other people.The special exhibition is a must visit. If you can only get your hands on an outdoor ticket, do it, it is very worth it.There is food(didnt check prices), shops as well. This review is basically just a review of what you get to see, 100% worth seeing everything there is to see. Dont be shy to take pictures of anything and everything!
The botanical garden is beautiful. I loved the rainforest area. I went for the Kusama exhibition that was poorly set up, though, in particular the section about the bio of the artist, in a dark room where it was hard to read and where you had to bend to look at some signs.Apparently masks are still required, even outside, not sure why.The staff is not too pleasant, definitely not good at Customer Service.Parking in front of the garden is easy. 20$/car.
Being a part of a surprise proposal can be stressful; its a rare event in life that means so much to those involved and its easy for everything to quickly fall apart. But goodness, the team at NYBG had everything well in hand! Working with Timothy was a salve on a stressful moment, he maintained clear communication and helped us capture a beautiful moment. Ive personally been here numerous times over the years and have never had a negative experience, the staff always seems happy to be there. Today simply blew me away with their professionalism, organization, and sincerity.
Racist Garden with very rude staff. They asked me to leave after I walked the wrong way initially, which was quickly fixed. About 5 white men will harass you and bully you to leave. Not a safe place for people of color.
Just spent a wonderful evening at the amazing KUSAMA exhibit at NYBG. Loved everything about it. Perfect early evening activity for all age groups. It takes approximately 2 hrs to fully enjoy the exhibit at a leisurely pace. There is a tram operating every 25 mins supposedly, but it ends at 5.30pm. Lots of visitors dressed to impress and take advantage of the great instagram photo opps! Masks still required for entry and throughout the gardens...most people complied, but it wasnt overly crowded & lots of space to remain socially distanced. We thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit & overall gardens in full bloom. Overall great family fun day out!
Best place to see the cherry blossoms. It takes about 2-3 hours to walk the whole garden + an extra hour to see the hauft conservatory. For the lover of travels, there is a tram that ferries people around the garden with pit stops at all the lovely locations. What a way to enjoy nonstop.There is something at every nook and corner... Surprises ... Azalea garden ... Cherry blossom path and the lilac garden. One can smell the intoxicating purple haze and then comes the colorful splash of magnolia trees. This is now my favorite garden in the city... And as if it wasnt enough, they have a brook snaking through the garden dividing it and there is a quaint little waterfall just besides the cherry blossom path.I cant get enough of this garden. Will be back soon for adventures in the city.
This is a beautiful place no matter what the season. So much to explore. My children were particularly enamored by the giant toy trains outside. Such a good place to visit safely during COVID!
An ethereal experience for nature lovers. Bath in the trees, breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the sun! Always a variety of new things to see each season. A treat for families or couples to experience.
Absolutely huge garden, we spent 4 hours here but could have spent longer! Theres so much to explore, and paying $30 for the full garden access was worth it to see the amazing conservatory. Highly recommend!
I have been a Bronx resident for 3 decades and have NEVER been to the Botanical Gardens! 👀 😂 It was an amazing experience. I was overwhelmed with how big it is and all the beautiful exhibits, installations, resting, eating and shopping areas. Going back really soon. Its my new getaway when I cant get away.
This Bronx botanical garden is massive and a wonderful place to be. You would need half a day to go through all of it if you want to see everything in the garden. Simple enough, I loved it. It’s right beside the Bronx zoo. It features million of plants. It really gives you the feeling that you are not in New York City anymore. They have many mini gardens and greenhouse sections as well. It’s a great place to be if you are into nature and peaceful vibes. I’d definitely go again. Make your way there if you can.
Wonderful family fun at the beautiful Orchid Show! The flowers were, of course, stunning and there were plenty of them. This coincided beautifully with my children learning about the rain forest biome in school so the added educational factor was a nice bonus and kept even my five year old boy very interested. Traffic flow inside the show was just fine. It wasnt too crowded. A few kind people offered to photograph our family together, which was really nice.After the Orchid Show, we ate lunch at The Pine Tree Cafe in the park and it was surprisingly great for a cafeteria-like atmosphere. As a vegetarian family, we had no problem finding delicious items at the cafe. My two youngest (6 and 5) shared a pizza while my oldest daughter (10), my husband, and myself each got a tomato and mozzarella sandwich. You have the option to get the sandwich heated or not and we heeded the advice of the gentleman who served us and had them heated and they were fantastic. My daughter also got a yogurt parfait with vanilla yogurt, granola, raisins, and peaches and I had a bite - it was delicious. Some bagged chips and drinks and we were done with lunch and back in the park. The line in the cafe was long but moved quickly and as a family of five we didnt have trouble finding a place to sit. You can eat inside the cafe, which we did, or outside on a covered pavilion, or outside in the sun. Nice options. The cost of lunch with drinks for the five of us was just under $100, which is a lot for what it was but still very glad we came here and would happily go back. The staff were nice and very helpful. I think the grill restaurant is the more upscale option but dont think they have enough (or any?) vegetarian options for us. Theres also a separate snack area that just has some basics like soft pretzels and drinks if you just want a little something.The gardens were really beautiful and if you come at various times of the year youll see different things in bloom. Theres a special section of the gardens specifically for children and its lovely - complete with a scavenger hunt, toys and outdoor musical instruments to play and even books to read indoors and out. My kids loved this area.Theres a tram ride you can take if you cant or dont want to walk. We walked most of the park and took the tram back at the end of the day. When youre on the tram, theres all kinds of information about the park being broadcast for all the riders to hear.We had such a nice time and happened to have an amazing day in terms of the weather (60° and sunny), so we ended up with really nice memories and photos and we are all looking forward to going back some time. I would love to see the azalea garden in bloom in May, the rose garden in bloom in June, and the peonies in summer.A few little logistics - wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothes and sneakers and bring water. We only found one working water fountain (Im guessing because of Covid the others are turned off). There are plenty of restrooms and parking for $20 in the overflow lot at Fordham University was easy and a super short walk across the street to the gardens.Bottom line - I highly recommend this place for a nice family day trip with kids and Im looking forward to going back.

Beautiful garden with amazing art sculptures throughout . They offer fun activities for kids to do in the kids area. Recommend going early for good parking.

2022-01-06This is a really fun indoor place to visit during the cold winter days. Several iconic buildings/stations across NYC are modeled from wooden logs and trains are running all around them. A wonderful experience to learn about the historical progression of railroad in NY. Along the trains, you also get to learn lots about trees and plants.The ticket to the comes with full access to the garden. They have a limited number of parking spots, around 40, on site. Its $20 for the day. Tickets are $32 per adult. Buy tickets online to ensure you have guaranteed entry to the show.I’d recommend getting the membership, which costs about 1.5x price of regular ticket, but you get unlimited entries for the year. Certain level of membership also comes with free parking and 10% discount in Gift shop. If you already purchased tickets, you can get upto $95 in credit, if you buy membership on the same day of your visit.This is a fun family spot, lots if things to explore with kids. They have cafe and restaurants at the site too. Easily worth visit 2-3 times a year (winter, cherry blossom and summer days).

2022-03-17Ive been wanting to go Kusama exhibit since I first saw one online. When I saw Cosmic Nature in NYC, I knew I wanted to go.Its a bit of a trek to get here from the city. It took over an hour to get here from Grand Central.It was definitely worth the trip here. I loved the exhibit, but the garden itself was gorgeous too. We spent a couple of hours here and if I wasnt so tired from walking so much already, we could have spent longer.Id definitely recommend this as a great way to escape the city for a while.

2022-01-09We went there during winter for the “GLOW” exhibition and the “train show” which we really enjoyed.It’s cool to experience a botanical garden in a different way, by watching miniature trains go through the plants and gaze at beautiful built miniatures of famous New York buildings. Although it’s a great idea and fun to see it’s not worth the around 50$ admission fee for both things. That’s too expensive.Luckily it works with the Sightseeing pass, although you are not supposed to see the “GLOW” exhibition at night because the lady in the ticket booth told us we have to be outside at 5 pm. Obviously nobody is checking when you are actually leaving :)We spent 1/2-1 hour inside watching the trains and about 30 minutes walking through the area and watching the Christmas lights. I definitely recommend doing it when it’s dark and with snow when you are really lucky. They close at 10pm (the train exhibition earlier).Cool shop at the end with quality products.

2022-03-08The orchid show is so beautiful. It has countless varieties of orchids. People there were excited and loved the show, as did I. In the gift shop you can purchase your own orchid or other plant. The staff is friendly and will give you pointers on how to care for your plant. There is a spot for drinks and snacks. There is also a trolly. Th rest of the grounds are not fully back for spring that I saw but they make for a nice walk. Go check it out .

2022-06-04Great place to go if you enjoy walk in the park and appreciate different species of plants and flowers. Even if you don’t understand that much about specifics.You gotta have tickets before coming in or be a member. The place is big and I suggest avoiding too hot days even though there are lots of trees. The garden counts with a trolley that goes around the whole place and has specific stops so in case you get tired of walking you can count on that.They also have a giant greenhouse with species from several different countries and environments like rain forest, desert, etc.The place has 2 restaurants, restrooms and a flower shop.

2022-06-12World Class Botanical Garden. Most beautiful park I have been in my life. Has a huge variety of plants and tree specimens. Even if you are not into botany, its a beautiful place to visit with family. Wednesdays are free for New York City Residents. Would recommend to visit if you are visiting NYC.

2022-06-22I went a few years ago and now came back this june 2022, seems like theres less now than before but still a charming sight. Its currently $28 for admission. Every 25 minutes at various stops throughout the garden, theres a small open bus that drives people around to get you to places quicker. To my sight, there are no water fountains and in fact, one of them (the only one I saw, actually) was broken near the kids area. Lots of wildlife like squirrels, chipmunks (probably the most youll ever see), blue jays, cardinals, and pigeons.

2022-04-26Went to Botanical Gardens a couple of weeks ago to visit the Orchids Exhibit. It was beautiful!! Such a peaceful place. Bring water & comfortable shoes. Some of the pictures I took on my visit.

2022-05-20Living in NYC for more then 20 years & never visited this incredible place🤦♀️I just didn’t wanna leave, it’s that beautiful. I wish there was a lot more wheels in there to actually finish traveling this big garden. So many people visit this place every day but not enough wheels to help out. Because it’s a lot of walking. 250 acres isn’t a joke & it’s not possible to watch everything in one day.I wish the ticket price was cheaper for students. 2 $ less then regular price don’t make no sense!I still have a lot to see, will be back! Including some pictures just to give an idea how beautiful this place actually is. I love this one more then the Brooklyn one.Btw did you all know this botanical garden has the biggest agricultural library in the whole world? Who knew this big library existed & inside a botanical garden🤦♀️ So if you visit this place, you also should visit this huge place.I wish it was closer to where I live😪I definitely need to buy a car….

2022-04-17Went to the Orchid Show at the NYBG and it was absolutely beautiful. The small show they put on and was quite with great music. If you are not into that, you could have a quite time at the Conservatory with Orchids.Some of the Food Stalls were really good as well. Would recommend
