New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai in other cities:
The attention in this hospital is friendly from the door to the last person that work here! Great professionals, warm and very human treat with the patient. Thanks to them my mom now can see now, she had problems of uveitis and macular edema. They have all the resources to help you, even if you don’t speak english. They also gave her an insurance that covered almost everything.I cannot be more thankful with all of these professionals! God bless you!
My mother was referred here by Mt. Sinai West due to complications with her eye from glaucoma. She was seen by staff and advised she would need laser surgery to alleviate the pressure from the eye pain she was experiencing. In a follow-up visit, to be cleared for the surgical procedure, she arrived at the clinic at 11 am and was told she had to wait until 1pm before getting a COVID test to be cleared for the surgery. So why did they have her come in at 11am if they knew she couldnt get the COVID test until 1pm? To be clear, my mom is 80 years old. She is quite frail and not in the best of health. She was not feeling well this day and was experiencing dizziness and nausea. That was of no consequence to them as they did nothing to accommodate her. To make matters worse, I tried calling them to find out exactly what they would be doing and what else she needed aside from the COVID test to be cleared for the surgery, I stayed on the phone over 20 minutes on hold because no one from their lousy reception staff had the decency to pick up the phone.I have no idea how in 2022 any medical facility can operate like this. The comments and ratings you see in these reviews are real people, with lives and families. People deserve to be treated with respect and dignity and this place clearly shows they have neither. They simply have no regard for patient service and have made no effort to improve given comments from other reviewers. This institute is an abysmal failure with regard to patient service and I dont recommend anyone use them or send their family members here. HORRIBLE! Please dont respond by asking me to call your phone number to discuss. Unless its the president of the hospital, I am not interested in speaking to any underlings!
Made an appointment on the website for follow up after eye surgery. Went in at 9 for my 9:30 appointment. Receptionist took my name and information, did not ask if I had an appointment. I assumed she looked me up on the computer and found my appointment. Nope. She assumed without asking that I was a walk in. Gave me my papers, which apparently was marked with WI on the top, a code I would not have understood even if my vision wasn’t still completely blurred from surgery. I spent 8 HOURS there. At one point they dilated my eyes and then ignored me for so long that they had to dilate me again. I kept asking at the front desk why everything was taking so long but got no answers. Finally at the end, after a literal 8 hours, they recommended I come back in 2 weeks. I said I was never coming back after this horrible day, and they informed me I should make an appointment next time. This statement finally cleared up the confusion. I explained that I had an appointment, needing to prove it by describing the steps I went through yo do so. They explained the walk in confusion. I was blamed for ‘not being clear’ when I registered. I never went back. I’d rather go blind.
I’ve been going here with my grandmother for years. For the past 6 months, the waiting time seems like it has been increasing every time we visit. We always get to the appointments 15-20 minutes early and they don’t attend us till 10-15 min after our set appointment. We spend more time waiting then actually seeing the doctors and being attended. Often we are here for 3 hours just to check my grandmother’s eye pressure. No complaints about the doctors. Staff are also nice and attentive. Just the waiting time. I hope this can be fixed soon
Worst place ever! No one answers calls. Just doctors are good but other services are outrageous. They gave me so hard time with the insurance approval process. They want to charge money from patients instead of charging the insurance. Later I found out that my claim was never submitted to the insurance company.
My appointment for a follow up procedure to an exam I had two weeks ago was cancelled 45 minutes prior to it happening. I received a phone call while on the bus to get to the procedure. Wasted 2.75 in bus fare. The appointment was completely wiped from mychart as though it never was scheduled. My initial exam and results were not indicated on mychart. Its as though the experience never happened and I still have the problem with my eye that brought me there two weeks ago. I guess they wont be following up to reschedule. The next available appointment with this doctor is Feb. 3 anyway. Now what.
My relative had appt at 1110am we registered came early at 945am he was taken upstairs at 1015am I went away for hours came back at 1pm he was not attended to 3 hours waiting up stairs at 130pm they spoke to him only because I followed up surgery started 245pm wasted almost 5 hours is that really efficient if you have a sinus surgery dont come here it will be a 7 to 9 hour ordeal bad communication bad mgmt
I went to the eye clinic after getting a torn contact stuck in my eye. After an eye exam the doctor completely missed the contact and insisted that nothing was there, dismissing my concerns. 24 hours, and some pain after, I got the contact lens that was stuck out of my eye.Furthermore, the doctor dilated my eyes and did not properly caution me about blurred vision and sensitivity to light thereafter, which made my return trip home somewhat unsafe.
I feel really bad that this place is managed so poorly unfortunately! I visited this place today for a pretty bad eye infection I had. I called in the morning and they told me that you can just walk in without any appointment. When I asked what is the waiting time, they said max 2 hrs. Since I trusted Mount Sinai and was willing to wait to see one of the ophthalmologist there I showed up at 11 AM. I waited for 5 hours and at the end I felt so weak and dizzy that I had to leave because my blood sugar was critically low. I asked the staff and nurses several times that, could you please at least tell me when will I be seen? and the answer every single time was we dont know! It might be 30 min or it might be 3 hours. Or in my case never!Honestly, I dont put the blame on staff and doctors or nurses by any means. I respect the staff and I am sure they are doing their best to accommodate the huge number of patients. However I do put the blame on the management or whoever runs that service. This is a PATIENTs SAFETY issue. Keeping patients in the waiting room for such amount of time has no logic behind it. The patients flow can be managed much better using variety of methods that are developed by other hospitals. Next to me there was an elderly gentleman who almost passed out and I felt so bad for him because he waited 6 hours to be seen and he also had a pretty bad eye infection and needed to see the doctor the same day.I do not recommend this place at all to anybody and I will ask my friends and family to avoid it at all costs.Once you go there and experience it yourself, you will understand what I mean! very sad!
I just called the eye clinic right now (8/5/21, 9:54am) to schedule a cataracts surgery. I was excited to finally get through since no one called me back on 8/4/21 after someone put me on hold for 30 minutes. The person who picked up was very rude and hung up on me. Terrible customer service. Will be happy to complete any survey about this so that its recorded and no one else has to go through this.
Based on my personal experience, this place is really good, clean and respectful staff/Doctors.Yes there is a long wait for appointments and surgery if they give you 8:00 am appointment everyone else also have 8am appointment lol you are not going to be seen right away but they do their best. I never felt rushed during my appointments and after 3 weeks of my eye surgery I am feeling good; my eye is healing beautiful. I have to say that Dr. Nitin Chopra is great and Dr. Finger tooBut these is my personal experience! They are open Mon-Sun from 8am-4pmThe 14th street location
Eyes doctors were very nice and competent. However, stars are deducted due to frustration with administration. My mom had an urgent condition with her eye and needed immediate diagnosis and treatment. It was during the peak of COVID-19, so I understood that the process might be delayed directly or indirectly because of that. We had a video diagnosis with one of the eye doctors, because we did not have an appointment scheduled. The doctor decided my mom must be seen immediately and said admin would contact us in 30min. However, we waited and waited in my apt. It was the most painful 45min that we had waited. Then I called whatever number I could find to reach the scheduling staff and realized the scheduling admin decided that because my moms address was in Brooklyn, it would take too long for my mom to arrive the site, they decided not to call us and to wait until the next day! I told them my mom was in my apt, which was 20min away! Then they told us to go in immediately. But when we arrived, the scheduling/billing staff again took a long time to verify insurance stuff (i guess?), even a doctor came down to fetch my mom. Thankfully, the doctors were amazing and did surgery for my mom immediately. I think one of the doctors was Dr. Lebowski. And we didnt leave until 8pm that day. I am grateful to all the doctors who stayed late and saw my mom that day, but I still cringe at the idea that if I didnt call the scheduling staff, my mom might have gone blind.
After waiting a month for an appointment with a specialist, then almost three hours of waiting for my appointment in the waiting room I was told the specialist ‘wouldn’t see me’ not couldn’t, wouldn’t. She was there but just wasn’t going to see me. What the actual hell is going on over there. I was billed a month ago to setup this appointment and I’m sure I’ll be billed today. This place is an actual nightmare. I feel bad for the residents who are working there. This place shouldn’t be able to treat patients this way. It’s basically malpractice.
UPDATE: I have never had such poor care in my life. Had to go back for an emergency visit and my doctor (Dr Du) called in 4 prescriptions. I got to the pharmacy to pick them up, and the pharmacy said they were ordered incorrectly so they cant fill them, and they were waiting on the doctor to contact them to fix it. This went on for DAYS, and Dr Du never addressed the issues with the pharmacy, didnt contact them, and didnt call me back. Eventually I had to get a different doctor to prescribe the medicine for me so that I could actually begin taking it. This means i went over 5 days without the medicine I was told I urgently needed to treat my eye condition. I went back for my follow up visit, and was told by Dr Du that I needed a referral to a specialist. She said she was emailing them and calling in the referral. Well, yet again, 7 days have passed and I have no appointment, and when I called the doctor I was referred to, they said they cannot give me an appointment because it was never called in by Dr Du. This place is an absolute MESS and a bunch of first year residents are running around treating patients and attempting to give care without ANY oversight, and because of that, issues like this with not getting prescriptions and not getting referrals are pervasive. This place needs entirely new management. Also, when I called the number below after my review was replied to, I was unable to speak with anyone to report it - the phone just nonstop rang every time I called. What a joke. This is HORRIBLE and so dangerous to the health of patients--------------------It’s unfortunate you can’t give a negative number of stars. I have been there every day for the last four days for appointments (2nd floor), and there has not yet been a time I haven’t waited more than 2+ hours for my appointment. As if that’s not bad enough, I am in severe pain due to my eye condition and the staff don’t seem to care. There is no dark waiting room (what eye center doesn’t have a dark waiting room???) and despite sitting in the waiting room literally in tears, my wait time is still over 2+ hours after my “appointment” time passed.I have never been treated so poorly in my life. The management here is absolutely heinous, and because you’re being seen by first year residents (and MAYBE if you’re lucky you’ll see an attending for 30 seconds) much information isn’t shared. For example, the first resident I saw on my first appointment day didn’t even tell me how long I should expect to be in pain for or that it would be NORMAL to have increased pain after starting medicine. This just sets up the eye center and doctors for even more chaos and urgent appointments. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!! I literally hate this place.
The doctors are good and the facility is clean but I can’t give any more than 1 star if they NEVER pick up the phone at the retina center. Over 1 hour on hold? You can’t even get through at all on most days. If you do have an appointment there - you will be there half your day. Are you serious? Get new admins.
The worst place ever! PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE! My dad had an appointment today, Tuesday 06/15 at 2:30pm. We got there early at 2pm and waited in a FULL waiting area until 3:30 to be brought into a room by one of the technicians. We waited about 30min until we saw Dr. Wong. At this point it is about 4pm and Dr. Wong proceeds to dilate my fathers eyes and tells us he will be back in 10 MINUTES! 40 MINUTES later we are still waiting and have not been seen by Dr. Wong. Not to mention this place doesn’t even have AC and it was extremely hot in the building. My father was getting aggravated by the wait (which is understandable) we saw Dr. Wong treating other people and decided to leave. The lady at the reception told us we shouldn’t leave with my dads eyes dilated and that Dr. Wong has some people in front of us and then he’ll see us. We came on time what does him having other people in front of us have to do with us?! She also mentioned that he’s slow! This place lacks professionalism! We left the place and told them not to bill us, they said they’re going to cancel the appointment as if we were never there. Do not go to this place! Ever!
NEGATIVE stars if possible! I was there for over 5 hours. Patients were seen before me who came much later. Dr. dilated my eyes then left me to sit for over an hour. Admin. was disorganized and chaotic. Customer service via phone was painfully bad. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
People seem nice and doctors might be good, if they could schedule properly. Zocdoc “specialist” claimed to have never spoken to me after a call to not only confirm but also adjust my appointment to fit the doctors schedule better. Office told me to come back another day. Be sure to triple check your appointment before traveling here.
Dr. Anita Gupta is patient, honest, knowledgeable and thorough. Her staff members are also very kind. I think patients like myself who are experiencing vision loss, challenges and surgery find a warm medical environment calming and gives us hope. The wait times are indeed long but its worth it.Sabrina C.
I have been coming to the Eye Clinic for years with my Grandma. She recently was complaining about her eye and wanted to walk in to get checked. I always dread these visits they usually take ALL DAY! The wait time is usually ridiculous. She refuses to go anywhere else because they have been treating her eyes for over 10 years. For the first time EVER, we were out before lunch. I was shocked specially coming in as a walk-in. It was a total one and a half hours for everything. So I had to say something! The employees at the front registered her so fast I thought I was in the wrong place.I hope they keep this up.
Unprofessional and unorganized my daughter had an appointment on July 28th at 1:30 p.m. if it wasnt for me speaking up I was told that she was skipped then when she was seeing finally it took a while and then she had four people ahead of her to go see the doctor this makes no sense I didnt leave out of there until the evening I called the director herself left a message min Jeon still waiting for a response for my experience there it seems like this each situation has not been resolved for I am not the only one thats complaining and to call for an appointment wont be able to because youll be waiting there for quite a long time one was for an hour and 15 minutes the next day was 30 minutes unprofessional.
(Floor 2 children) the receptionists are not professionals, I made an appointment for my daughter and before going I called to confirm and on the day of the appointment they told me that she did not have an appointment, they sent you to wait and after 2 hours they told you to wait Until they finish with all the patients they have, they do a bad job and waste your time at your job, they treat you like a princess on your first date but you no longer care about your second date because they already got insurance. They spend talking and laughing on the phone for sure so it was that they did not complete my appointment.
Someone recommended this place to me. Wait time to see the doctor in the eye clinic was good considering the fact that this place is huge! Registration was also smooth and quick and front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Doctor was smart, detailed with explaining the procedure and very knowledgeable. Lets see how surgery goes.
This place is the best ever. Everyone in there is so nice and professional. Last week I went there for nasal surgery and was a little nervous from some of the comments that I read but the minute I arrived, everyone was so nice and reassuring. I want to thank the nurses and clerical staff for all of their help. I also want to thank Dr. Herman Lam who did a great job on my procedure. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone that I know.
It was a horrible experience. Given that it’s during the pandemic time one would have to wait a bit more which is reasonable, but should be given an appointment considering the long wait time. I was given an appointment for one time and had to wait almost 3 hours to be seen. I would have rather be given a different time. I had also another appointment soon after to be at. I had to ask the staff multiple times before they finally could have me seen after 2+ hours. Everyone’s time should be respected and considered. Better organization and planning is very much needed here so appointments that don’t mean much aren’t given.I could see my self waiting here the whole day for a appointment.
(9th Floor) Needed to see a specialist ENT and have a hearing test done. Everyone was extremely professional and courteous. I did not have to wait more than 5 minutes for anyone. Felt very safe in the “pods” in the waiting area. All the practitioners made sure that my questions and concerns were answered and were extremely patient. Highly recommend Dr. Cosetti.
I had been trying to contact this practice for the last week or so. Their phone is either busy or it connects you with an answering service, which I wont use because I just want to schedule an appt. I sent a fax no response, I called lobby they didnt have any answer as of why this office is not answering their phones. Anyone knows? Todays is 11/22/2021
If I can give them a lower rating, I would. This is not a review of the doctors, but a review of getting an appointment with them. I got a referral from my primary care physician to go see them for vertigo, I empathized on the phone that this is was affecting my daily life, Im dizzy and vomiting, the receptionist said this is not an emergency and I should go see get a prescription from my doctor for the symptoms, I told her that I do have the prescription from my doctor and its not helping. She said that theres plenty of people with vertigo, my issues are not unusual and does not warrant an immediate appointment, and I need to wait until mid-Nov (3 weeks from now) for an opening. I think this is ridiculous how they approach patient care. They basically dont give a &hit about you. I would never go to them again.
Not sure how this place even gets 2.9 stars..I would give them 0 stars.I should have looked at the reviews before I scheduled an appointment.I went there November 27.2018 for a cornea transplant consultation by dr. Angie Wu.My appointment was for 12:00 pm.I got there an hour before my appointment..I ended up leaving at 3:00pm without seeing Dr.Wu..Someone else did the routine of checking me out,IE;drops to dilate my eyes High resolution pictures ETC-ETC.So I waited for over a week for a reply on the doctors recommendation of what I should do...No one called me...So I decided to give them a call on Thursday, December 6 2018.After hearing about all the parking options from the recording I finally get through, and the operator connects me To Dr. Wu’s office. The phone rings for about 15 minutes.I finally gave up waiting..I don’t need this aggravation when there are other locations with way better reviews...I wasted a day off from work for nothing.Even though the doctor’s are probably great,I would stay away from this place...They definitely need to get better organized..
I had surgery a few weeks ago. Great staff. I noticed that all patients regardless of age were treated with respect and kindness. I applaud all of you but one. (Will detail later) I had read all the negative reviews and almost cancelled but I found them to be extremely overstated. I am glad I kept my appointment and came here. Word to the wise do not let what others say sway you. Find out the truth. Again thank you all extremely superior to others.
Too bad I cannot give zero stars. I typically do not leave a bad review but after the experience I just had I am compelled to point out the rude behavior I just encountered. I was enquiring about a cost estimate for my scheduled surgery and I was told that the hospital could not give that to me and no help or assistance was offered to resolve my problem. How can you expect a patient to walk into surgery without having any sense of cost. Considering I had a very good surgery experience at the Retinal Ambulatory Surgery Center, NYEE will not now (and if I can avoid NEVER) get my business and I will myself return to Retinal for my next surgery and be sure to recommend Retinal to anyone I know.Update- I must note that NYEE also called me shortly after my review and the gentlemen was very friendly and helpful in assisting me. In the end, I was able to avoid surgery at this point, but I very much appreciate NYEEs efforts to correct a very bad in initial experience I had.
I would not recommend this place, The waiting time (with a appointment) is excessive, My mom who is diabetic got there at 9:40am for her appointment with the eye doctor which was scheduled for 10am. At 2pm she was still there waiting to see the doctor. She decided she had enough once she found out their were still 8 people in front of her after waiting over 4 hours. When she arrived there their were 13 people in front of her so if the doctor continued seeing patients at the at same speed she would have easily still been waiting there at 6pm. Im extremely disappointed with the discourtesy towards patients time.
Awesome hospital, doctors, staff and nurses. My 5 year old daughter had to undergo a minor surgery for eye. Dr. Adam was looking her and he is so friendly and patient, clearing all our doubts, helping us as best he can. Thank you Adam. You are the best doctor we have seen. God bless you. My daughter was admitted as outpatient and we stayed in the hospital for 1 night. The staff and nurses are so good in taking care. Only the thing which bothered me was the waiting time.
I was hesitant after reading all of these reviews about the wait time. I expected to be there a better part of the day as a walk-in appointment. I arrived when they opened @ 830am and had been seen and left by 945 after thorough intake and care. Many things are wrong with our healthcare in the United States but the staff was pleasent and the wait time was what I expected for walk-in and having very little options of places to go because of my insurance. Perhaps the wait time is longer if you arrive later in the day. My advice. Book early and vote for changes in the way out Healthcare system is ran by insurance companies to make a profit.
I went there in 1995 after some hair coloring product got in my eye and my efforts to wash it out did not help. I remember going there around 9 pm and the staff was extremely attentive, even though it was off hours for them. They flushed out my eye with saline solution for about 2 hours, and told me that I had scratched my cornea. They put an eye patch on me which I wore for several days. I had wonderful after care as well from all of the doctors. I was back there one more time I believe in 2000 or 2003 and also received excellent care.
I came to the hospital over a month ago in need of emergency treatment for a retinal tear. I was treated with courtesy, warmth and respect throughout my visit. I am, in particular, incredibly grateful for the skills of Dr Brittany Powell and her team who did a laser procedure on my eye. My sight is now pretty much back to normal.
I can not express with words how much you should not go here. I was sent here by my eye dr because I had blood completely obscuring my field of vision as well as her view of my retina. She feared my retina was detaching or detached already and wanted me to see someone as soon as possible if I needed surgery to try to save some of my vision. I took an Uber straight there and she had already called ahead and spoken with the retina specialist to expedite the process. I got checked in but the receptionists did not convey this info to the drs in a timely manner. I was left in the waiting room for 2 hours without so much as an insurance form to fill out. When I did see a dr they were very kind but were RAGING that I had been kept waiting that long as they had left word with reception and then were waiting for me as it was such an urgent issue. They were able to resolve what was needed that night but I needed to come back in two weeks for further laser surgery. The paperwork I was given said this was a high priority and to overbook if needed. I called the next day and every 3-5 days for a month. The only thing they would tell me was that someone from the department needed to call me back. I never had any missed calls or voicemails. After a month I spoke to my other medical team at Columbia Pres and they were horrified and booked me for the next day and follow up laser surgeries every 2 weeks for 6 weeks with the Columbia Pres Eye Institute (who I HIGHLY RECCOMEND). 4 weeks into THAT process (2 months from my visit to the ear and eye infirmity of Sinai) I got a text from a random number saying my appointment on Friday was moved to Monday and from NYEE. I called Columbia as they were the only medical provider I had upcoming appointments for. I then got a text from NYEE saying I missed my appointment. After looking I realized that the message was from Sinai and after 2 months they had booked me for a random appointment without telling OR asking me. TOTALLY SHADY. I really regret going here and leaving my contact information and do not feel safe with them having this information. The doctors may be good but you’ll never get to them through the incompetent staff. If I had waited for their process to work I’d be blind right now.
Saddened to see majority of reviews around billing. Yes, the initial front desk staff were not the friendliest however all of the nurses and care staff were amazing! We were there for my 5 year old tonsils and adenoids removal so I was nervous. They put us at ease, made her comfortable with crayons and such while we waited. They let me go back to the OR with her until she fell asleep. The biggest thing is that it was clean! Every time I turned around they were cleaning or I smelled disinfectant of beds etc. It was nice to not be in a big hospital with people sick and have ease that they made cleanliness a priority. I’m sure i will get a bill but I expected that and overall was very happy with this facility and Dr Hackett our ENT!
New York Eye and Ear Infirmary saved me from complete blindness. Last December, I developed a giant retinal tear/detached retina and needed emergency surgery. This is a complex and very risky procedure and I was sent immediately down to NY Eye and Ear by my local doctor. I arrived (after travelling 90 miles) at 7:30pm on a Friday night. _the Friday between Christmas and New Years_ I didn’t know what to expect, but in a short period, I saw not one, but four Ophthalmologists. Then the I saw the Retina Fellow (who jokingly said he “lives there”) I’m happy he did. They opened an ER for me on Sunday and two world class surgeons worked on my eye, saving my vision. And you know what, six weeks later, my other eye developed the same retinal tears and detached retina. Another emergency trip to NYEE. Another quick triage and another emergency surgery by the same world-class doctors and NYEE team, saving the vision in my other eye. So yes, five stars. I am forever in their debt.
I would highly recommend this hospital, the staff was compassionate and very helpful. I had a very serious surgery performed, a detached retina coupled with a hole. Dr. B. Johnson performed the surgery, which was a success. He obviously has skilled and gentle hands because postop there was only minor pain. He is knowledgeable, caring , patient and meticulous in his duties. Mount Sinai hospital is fortunate to have him on board. I am registered nurse and believe me, I know a good doctor when I see one, Dr. Johnson is the best. Thank you!
The Opthamology Clinic is HORRIBLE!! The space is clean and the staff is nice. The wait time as a walk in is just AWFUL!! I arrived at 7:30am, the clinic opens at 8am, the Drs arrive at 9am. It is way after 12pm and I still havent been seen. I have never been so disappointed in wait time nor update status. They say you are next but dont say how long you have to wait. In the meantime 20 other people get called and you are still waiting and are next. When you speak up they put you in a room and say they are waiting on the Dr. Only to keep you calm. When you say you will call your insurance and have them not pay for the visit and that you will NEVER return, miraculously a Dr appears and acts like nothing ever happened. Update I finally exited the building at 4:45pm!!
Worse hospital in the world when it comes to emergency registration. I went 2 days in a row and both days I waited over 45 minutes to be registered before seeing others walk out and then eventually walking out myself. They have 7 windows for registration and appointment purposes but both days I went they only had 1 person doing walk in registrations. My suggestion is if you have an emergency dont go at 8 or 9am you have to be there like at 5am or 6am just to avoid the delays on the line. All this just because they dont wanna hire people and they get away with it because its the only eye and ear hospital in NY. Totally disgusting
This place uses all your time. They will give you a time and you will not get to see the doctor until 2 hours later. Dont think about coming here during lunch, you will not have time. The guy behind me had to reschedule multiple times because he had to wait 1+ hours. Most of the receptionists are rude/unwelcoming. The only redeeming quality is just the doctor although I did not stay there long I knew she was knowledgeable at least.
Ubsolutely unprofesional and careless people!!!!Avoid this place. My mom very sick peson need to wait 2 hoursto get follow up appointment which we areange before. Stupid reason “doctor not here right now”Also after surgery they have problem to prescribe pain medicine for other wierd reason. And they sad to call if pain got worseWe call to the clinic next day... no help no pain medicine ...nobody call back... only promises...Good doctors... probably...Bad managment and bad execution for sure. Please research other hospital before come there.
I had an appointment and a doctor referral but when I arrived The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary receptionist could not find it. She offered for me to wait in the walk in clinic line. I tried again yesterday. This time I walked in (because having an appt did work last time). This time a different woman tells me I cant be seen without an appt. She seemed overly focused on my insurance without even looking up my record. She kept asking if I was on medicaid. I told her no and she didnt believe me but also didnt look up the record. After being turned away twice, I am scheduled to see someone at NYU today. Depending on that experience I may switch all my doctors from Mont Sinai over to NYU. This place is a joke.
One of the most horrific hospital experiences I hav ever had. The waiting area was terrible and crowded and people were eating a talking on their phones very loudly. The dressing area was so crowded there was absolutely no privacy. I actually had to carry my urine around until I found someone to take it. They had me marked as late when I arrived early so my surgery was late. I was wheeled into a room with 8 other patients just staring at each other I put gowns waiting for surgery. I then received a bill for 1200 more than expected when I thought I already paid in full! Horrific!
Absolutely horrible!I came in with an eye emergency and waited for more than 7 hours before thw doctor saw me. I only went to this place as various ophtalmologists advertise this place as an emergency eye center. i paid for the appointment in full and could not leave while waiting. While I was waiting, my eyes started feeling even worse, when I asked for some drops, the nurse told me it is better if the doctor sees it at its worst. Well, the 7-hour wait doesn’t make it easier.I wish I waited until 8-9 am to visit a different non-emergency ophtalmologist. i would wait for max 1-2 hours and have adequate treatment for the same price.Stay AWAY!
The worst doctors office. I have already waited 4 hours and I had an appointment scheduled 4 hours ago. Got here at 2 pm for a 2pm appt and Ive waited for 4 hours and 16 minutes and still have not been seen! I cannot believe that any doctors office would do this to patients every day! They said this is the normal here! That every time I make an appointment I will need to wait 4 hours at the least? I will never come back here.
A friend had a piece of metal in his eye & was in pain. They staff/docs kept taking patients who signed in after him, while friend was in pain and anxious. BTW, he was of Arab descent, and since many more patients came in after him and he still wasnt seen, my friend asked if it was be cause of his race? All heck broke loose - the staff got really upset at being accused of being racists - what a mess. And guess what, they still made him wait and wait, and all the while taking other patients. Finally he went to a doctor that looked American and ask to be seen. He explained his lack of treatment and waiting for hours. The doctor saw him. Yes, there was a piece of metal in his eye, and he was treated, by being told to leave it. It would be easier than having surgery to get it out, or something to that effect. Also, doc tried to make it sound like all the other patients had more serious problems. Not. I was watching and listening & many of them were follow up appointments... really?! I would not go there if youre not white or a certain religion. There was one doctor in particular who was despicable. When we said wed complain he almost assaulted us. He got right in our faces yelling at us and was seriously rude with his comments. I wont mention his name, though it is a color... I went there once before this incident and waited hours and felt like others were seen before me, too, but I was at least paid attention to & was assured along the way that someone would see me....Im white.
Not having a good experience. My mom is having strong pains in her left eye that she cant bare...we got called in to see a triage nurse she checks her eye then put us in another room have us wait for gods knows when, I ask the triage lady how much longer we have to wait to see the doctor because we have been already waiting a long time her response was will see the doctor in a few and kept walking away. A doctor that seen check my mom eyes heard when I ask the question a few minutes to 3pm and she answers 15 to 20 minutes its already 3:16pm and no doctor is here yet and to top it off theirs not a lot of people here then I would understand why its taking them so long to see my mom... All Im seeing them is walking back and forth talking laughing when mom have strong pains to where she cant bare the pain This place needs better working people that cares about their patients...
Seems like mixed reviews, but my experience was excellent. Arrived on time and was promptly taken care of at admissions. Took maybe 5 minutes to get through my paperwork. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Nurses great. Dr. Silver fantastic. Seemed like new equipment on the 2nd floor in surgical center. I was in and out on time as expected.
Its been a long time, but Ive been taking my children there since the early 1980s, with absolutely no regrets. But I felt that since theyre now grown people I need to start taking care of me. Oh I have, but not regularly as I ought. Well thats going to change as of NOW!!
This place is the worst!!!! I signed at 8:30am the receptionist took my insurance card and we seated for 1 1/2 hr to take vitals and again seated outside for 2 hrs then I got up and ask the receptionist how much longer she said go ask the nurse in the back !!!! Then the nurse said she doesnt know how much longer when I was the only one there!!! Honestly its not a good facility cause I didnt see a dr I saw an intern . The dr was there but he was walking around on his phone. it after all what dose that say!!!
My name is Adrienne B. I Had reintal detachment surgery had to get a medical clearance. The staff was Great , polite, friendly.professional, made you feel at home, I forgot I was so nervous! All the staff on 5th floor ambulatory center deserves a RAISED! They Rock ! I would definitely recommend this hospital! Clean, and the snacks served after surgery great! (Warn muffin, crackers) And they was very professional with test, questions about your health, and each nurse; staff member always greeted you with a smile, name and title!! God bless them all! You are in good hands Here!
The security, nurses and Doctors are great but the desk staff at Doctors offices some are great and very helpful while some don’t even care.As far as I heard the hospital was private before Mt SINAI stepped in and bought, therefore you will find a huge difference between the way Mt SINAI works and this hospital way of handling patients.Too much time can be saved for patients and staff if the Managemnt reconsider how the system works and at least use Mt SINAI system. For instanceIn general Mt Sinai Hospitals, the nurse who work with the specialist Dr can schedule your appointment and at your appointment you see the nurse then the Dr very simple! But with the NY Eye & Ear the Dr put an order For an appointment and you go to the desk to schedule the appointment based on the order on the system or they mail you an appointment by mail and sometimes the letter you received for the appointments has no order in the system and you should spend few hours trying to solve the issue as everyone you ask send you somewhere else and after that if you are seeing a Dr or you have a follow up appointment you have to go back at that day to wait in a very long line to check in then you go to the Doctors office where you have to wait again after speaking to another desk staff then you see a nurse then a Dr!!!!But Nurses and Drs are very sweet, they all care a lot about your health and they do their best to get you well recovered fast!My only advice is for the management to restructure the system or follow Mt Sinai system to save yourselves money, save time and keep everyone happy
Waited for 5 hours, and still hasn’t called. Their consultation waiting time is about an hour a patient, even tho the last patient came out 30 min ago, they still don’t call the next patient.Really hope the hospital understands the importance of other people’s time and make this place more efficient and let their patients out at a reasonable time.Need around 6-7 hours to get in and out of this hospital...waiting waiting waiting
I dont know WHY this Hospital is rated a 3.0? In my experience you might be there all day but the service is amazing, the patients that I have spoken to are happy with the services that they have received. I went in with NO VISION to speak of in my right eye; just a flat grey field. Less than a month later, after the operation I could see street signs two blocks away. It was like a Miracle! Another thing, as they do so many operations at NYE&EIofMS my operation was done at no cost. That was even considering that they had to use a very expensive Implant for individuals who use computers. I might add that my Doctor kept track of me very closely and was always there when I needed him. In fact, he INSISTED that I come in at the slightest problem, whatever it might be, no appointment, just come in as early as possible and see HIM. I cannot imagine better Eye Care anywhere else.
I like the doctors. The wait at the clinic is very long but my biggest problem is the appointment system. The person who makes appointment is not very helpful. You have to give them your information then they will call you with a date, which might not be convenient for you. The last time I got a date I asked what other dates are available, she will have to check and call me back. No one ever called back, when I called they told me the appointment was set for 30th rather than the 2nd which I was given originally. If they had the courtesy to talk to me I would have kept the 2nd which was about 2 weeks later than the Dr wanted me to return. So now I have to wait about 2 months later than I should. The appointment system is archaic or someone is not doing their job
If you are reading this in transit or while sitting in the waiting room, I would advise you to leave now. Health care in this country is badly, badly broken and New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai is an shining example of that.Listen: if you require more treatment than simply sitting uncomfortably for six hours, there will be additional fees. The people of New York come to this clinic because it is listed at a reasonable price online. They come in a panic and in the fear that there has been some permanent damage to their sight. They miss work that they cant afford to miss. They wait in an overcrowded waiting room for 6-7 hours of time. At the end of the ordeal they receive a 3-5 minute assessment that may include the following advice:- Maybe the scratch, if there is a scratch, isnt permanent.- Maybe use a hot towel / compress.- Maybe go buy some over the counter eye drops.- Maybe come back in two weeks if the vision doesnt improve.Regardless of the google-quality assessment received, what you can be certain of is the disingenuous nature of the billing. The fee listed online appears borderline charitable. It is a misrepresentation. The initial fee counts for nothing. Or, apparently, the initial fee is a “facility fee,” charged for the honor of spending 6+ hours on line and then in a clammy, windowless waiting room, huddled with your fellow exploited denizens...Six months later youll receive in the mail an additional bill for more than twice what you paid initially.Listen: When you fear there has been some permanent damage to your sight – with your eyes damaged, dilated or in some general state of disrepair for which you are seeking assistance – youre likely not going to go over the fine print, should it even be legible. With the prospect of permanent ailment, this clinic exists to exploit that fear and those who arrive in pain and seeking assistance. Please learn from my mistake. You will be at the mercy of shameless and immoral individuals.
Stay away from the glaucoma department here they give you an appointment and the wait time to be seen is over 4 hours for every appointment. This is unacceptable they don’t care about their patients and no one can give you and answer. The logic that I can come up with is that their overbooking. Which is not fair to their patients. I warn you to stay away and find somewhere else to go.
The wait times here are literally disgusting. I was there for 3 hours over what could have been a 5 min follow up appointment but they NEVER called my name. I went to the desk after two hours and they said I was next. 40 minutes later six people went ahead of me and I still was not called. I asked again who was ahead of me and the lady at the desk just told me “I’m processing paperwork first and I’ll check for you after”. Why lie and tell me I’m next then? 0/10 would never recommend this place.
SO VERY DISAPPOINTED, I wished I had listen to the reviews. I thought that they improved across the board but not. Make me waste my time and the eye problem is worse. So much disorganized, no communication among them, they want to milk you or the insurance. They want you to come as often as possible. The receptionist in B can learn some PR.I have my private surgeon Dr. But I needed a neuro eye and came to the NYEE as referral.I have 3 visits so far and not results, and neuro eye appt is in April despite I asked in Feb. My doctor does the glaucoma, cataracts, the visual field, the photos etc in one visit. Here they want you one day for each test. Unbelievable. Please avoid the pain going there. The internist are running this place. So sad when you have your hopes high por this place.
Their appointment scheduling service is a nightmare. I visited the office and appointment scheduler told me to call another day for an appointment. I called another day and after going through numerous recordings, I reach a worker who transfers me to another. After waiting for a long period, I get another worker who after making me waiting another 15 mins., call is disconnected. I call back and go through the entire process again only to be disconnected.
Very RUDE security guard. Ive been going to NYEE once a month with the surgeon in our practice for the past 7 years and today is a new low of poor management. As if implementing IDs for staff and check-in at front desk was not enough, they have an extra person standing between the waiting room and the front desk to shuffle and yell at people walking in through their front doors. I was actually on my way out and waiting in the lobby between the front desk and the elevators for the doctor when this said staff came to me and demanded that I go onto the sign-in line to check in. despite my plea that I was just in the building and waiting to leave with the surgeon to come down from the locker room, he kept pushing me towards the door and telling me to either get in line or leave. Of all the security/check-in people at the front, I am familiar and friendly with one (the tall and thin, moustached older gentleman whos usually standing behind the desk with a walkie-talkie) while the other 2 (one on either side of the entrance sitting at the computers) were nice and greeted people, but this 4th one was definitely on a trip. And as people were shuffling in, unaware of what had happened to me, I overheard one complaining under his breath that as he was walking to the waiting area, in his own words, People are SO RUDE here. Is this how to treat patients? It takes a large team of people to build something great but only a few bad apples to make everything rot and this is the direction Mount Sinai has taken this historical establishment that once SERVED the community. Even though on their website, it claims in the value and mission statements To value competence in the abilities of our physicians, employees, and volunteers to serve those entrusted to our care and to provide a professional practice environment, it is obvious to many, most apparent with those 1-star reviews of late, that this cant be further from the truth. And this is just the entrance. I havent even gotten into the other dysfunctions from within. Unless some fundamental improvements can be made with patient interests as the priority, any spackling or so-called changes in the name of advancement and improve flow and efficiency will result in the complete opposite.
I really love this place. They are T-H-E-E most thorough place I have ever been to. They would get 5 stars, but the wait to be checked in is just ridiculous. They definitely need a better system in place. However, it is definitely worth the wait for me to know that I have been seen by Dr. Coopersmith and others and gotten thoroughly checked out.
Arrived at 12:00 got called in at 5!! Why do they take walk-ins if they cant handle the capacity!. Very poor organization, patients didnt know where they were going to be called from. They Cant have people waiting that long specially when they probably havent eaten and cant go out to grab a bite because they are afraid of missing their spot. Worst experience!. Need a lot of work. Staff was kind but that doesnt justify the waiting time and poor organization.
They have good doctors but you spend more time waiting to register than waiting to see the doctor. The ladies at registration are unprofessional, work slowly( on purpose), take their time to send messages on their phones, stop and chat among themselves or if they feel like it they take a break. And all of this while theres only 2 windows open out of 8. They show no consideration of the many pts waiting in long line, some people had to step aside and seat because their knees hurt. When people complain they show a blunt affect, they just dont care. They want the money but they dont want to work. I expected better from mt Sinai, really unprofessional. They treat you like you are a needy person.
Worst doctor experience ever. I had an eye emergency, ended up in the emergency room on the ground floor. I had to wait close to 5 hours to see a doctor; no concern for the patient, no estimation about the wait time. The doctors (two of them, very nice people, but incompetent) misdiagnosed my condition, and told me there was nothing they could do. I was traveling overseas the following day. While in Europe, I saw a doctor, who prescribed a medication, and the condition is improving. Sheer incompetence and mismanagement at NYEEI.
I went in because I was having a severe reaction in my eye. It seemed to be caused by a combination of allergies and contacts lenses. I went in and all they did was a basic eye exam. They did not attempt to figure out what the cause was and only prescribed me mild steroids. They told me to come back in 2 weeks, so I did. This time 2 doctors came to see me, only to tell me to continue to take the drops for 4 weeks and come back. I was charged over $500 for this useless waste of time. WHY WOULD I COME BACK?? So you could charge me again for just wasting my time and continuing a prescription??
You come here for the doctor, but the overall patient experience for surgery is awful. Long waits in group waiting rooms, no privacy, consultation with patients with someone else next to you. I guess they never heard of HIPPA. My dog had a better eye surgery experience in an animal hospital then my mother had here.
Tele number leaves u on hold 40 minutes and then hang up.this happens all the time.it took 1 hr n 15 min just to get an e r appt.my patient is 80 yrs old and blindSecurity is ruid and have no patience for the blind and elderly.Took 20 just to register .Over crowded 0 social distancingHorrible visit
This ENT Clinic does not deserve to exist. They are bunch of worst immediate medical school graduates, who have never been specialized. Even, most of the Doctors here are not MD but Physician Assistant. I have visited this hospital more than 10-12 times and have experienced the same. There is only one good attendee, who is also in charge/supervisor of those freak not-well studied MDs and PAs. They do not care about patient care at all. Besides all, the waiting time after you are registered, even with an appointment will always be more than 2 HOURS. And if you walk in, you may expect to see the Physician after 5pm, keep in mind that you must register before 2:30 pm for walk in. Also, never mind about the people in the facilities. They are bunch of jerks. You would feel like you are begging them for something. They dont realize that they are getting paid because of your visit. They are very discourteous. All in all, I would never ever wish to go there again, since my current insurance allows me to see ENT specialist at other hospitals, hopefully a better one.
I got a referral for a “Glaucoma Consultation” so I called to make an appointment! And OMG the way in which the person answer the phone was so unprofessional and rude! I call at least 5 time and each time you could hear the line was picked up and then whosever it was hung up!! Then I called back and was transferred to the HR manager/supervisor where I left a message and it’s been a week and she has not bothered to call me back!Mount Sinai has other locations for a variety of reasons for a great variety of health issues that I can say with confidence are great at providing their patient with excellent care and attention and excellent customer care services! This establishment is by far the worst that I have had the misfortune of dealing with! Why take a job that requires you to be hospitable, patient and kind when you lack the basic things like respect, compassion and understanding!!I find that common curtesy was lacking! It appears that many of these people took the job just so they can be rude, nasty and talk down to the people who they are there to serve; because they are the poorest people in the community! Here’s something that I will definitely say KARMA is going to get you real soon!I did not want to be subjected to this type of treatment and so I did not call back; I will wait until I am finished with my degree and can find a good job that has a medical package and I can pick a better doctor or anything but this place!!!
This is a joke . They basically make you come over and over and milk you . Went for a basic cataract surgery. They cant give you a pricing and wont do anything until they make sure you can pay ..... but no one can give you a price . In the meantime they make sure you spend some money by making you come back and run some eye exams . And this is supposed to be one of the best hospital in town .After my wallet was lightened by $700 , I decided to go somewhere else .Found Union square eye care on 19 th and Park . An hour later I was out with a very reasonable pricing and a date for surgery.Mount Sinai , you are a JOKE .Thank you so much for making be wait for hours and taking $700 from me for NOTHINGBenjamin ALTER
I have been here in the waiting room for over 3 hours for a simple cornea ulcer. Im still waiting. It can be diagnosed in less than 3 minutes and all I need is an antibiotic eye drop prescription. They cannot tell me how much the exam will cost, they say that my insurance will be billed and I will get a bill in the mail. I work for Mount Sinai. There were only 6 people ahead of me. I am embarrassed to say that this place is affiliated with my hospital.
This place is a fraud. I received an evaluation (no actual treatment) for an eye injury several months ago, and I have just received yet another bill that I was never told was coming. The total out of pocket is now approaching $600 with my insurance discounts for nothing more than an eye exam. You will never be informed that you will pay far more than the self-pay rates posted online as an insured patient. This is an absolutely insane amount to pay for an eye exam at a state-funded facility.
If youre on workerscomp case do not go there, or youll regret. Their billing department is horrible. I provided all of my information 2 months ago, and its still pending and until itll get processed I can not scedule any further appointments. Not to mention that their billing department is open 4 days a week from 10am-12pm and from 2pm-4pm, so you have a small fraction of window to even catch them. And guess what, nobody cares over there about your health, its just straight up business.
Everyone very efficient, however, there is a problem with my prescription, and my pharmacy has been trying to reach them for THREE days, with no success.3 days of busy signals.Thank you, but after MANY calls from myself and the CVC pharmacy, zip code 10462, $ days later, I finally got through. In the mean time, whatever it is I have, was wrecking havoc with me. I had a follow-up appointment today, which I decide not to keep.
I have Keratoconus. I had corneal transplants in both eyes. The surgery was done by Dr. John Seedor. Ive been a patient of his for almost 7 years. And now hes leaving to go to another eye and ear hospital. Im writing this because the Eye and Ear Infirmary is losing a great doctor. He cares about his patients and their concerns. The office will never be the same without him.
I started having eye problems so called on February 3 to make an appointment ASAP. Their first available appointment was 45 days later, on March 20. On March 17 they called me to say my appointment had been rescheduled for May 1.Yes, they expect someone with a possibly-detached retina to wait nearly three months to visit them. Dont waste your time. These people shouldnt be allowed to practice.
I dont understand how it is possible for someone to get the surgery that you recommended! Its bad enough that the wait time is ridiculous. My son needs the surgery badly but all you guys want to do is take images and keep making him come back with no improvement. He needs help!!! Please help him!!! And try to call and speak to an Administrator is ridiculous why are you treating your patients in this manner???!!!
I thought this was the impossible, but I finally found an organization worse than the NYC MTA. I’m not even going to comment about the wait time, as this is an issue for almost any medical center and can’t be avoided, but what can be resolved is the rude and demeaning attitude of the staff, more so the overwhelmed workers behind the desk. I have never been to a place so disorganized that made me strongly consider walking out. The staff seems to be confused at all times of what’s going on, and there seems to be a huge disconnect. This isn’t their fault, as this is an issue for someone at the top to resolve. The doctors are good, no doubt, but that’s if you even get to them. This is my third visit, and I am perplexed as to how this was even voted among the best in the nation- I am legitimately confused by this. My recommendation- go somewhere else if you haven’t come here get, you’ll thank me later. The way this place is run is absolutely embarrassing.
This hospital is top notch! Dr. Buxton, Dr. Sidoti, Dr. Gentile and Dr. Samson are by far the best in the business. I would not entrust anyone on the planet with my eye care than the four of them. They are professional, expedient and more importantly work as a team. They share information proficiently which only benefits the patient. My Mother fortunately discovered their expertise after allowing a novice operate on her eyes for cataracts knowing that she had inflammation that needs to be treated prior to having surgery. She is now permanently blind in one eye as a result of this incompetence. These four doctors saved the vision in her other eye after nearly ten (10) years of their care and still her vision will never be what it would have been if she had went to them when her chronic vision issues began. I say to the people who have an issue with long waits, to be able to see is worth waiting. These guys are top notch!!!!
Amid these mixed reviews, I have to say that my recent pre-surgical and post-surgical experience was positive. Thumbs up to the the staff in the Social Work Department, Admitting Department, Nursing and Medical Departments. And I would be remissed if I fail to acknowledge the staff in the Retinal Center. Also, thank you to Dr. Powell and Dr. Deobahkta.
The worst. THE WORST. Yes, their doctors are experienced and talented. Does that matter when you wait on hold for an hour to make an appointment and then just hang up because youve come to believe there arent actually HUMANS there? When a procedure that would take ten minutes anywhere else takes eight hours here? Do some research and avoid this place like the plague.
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! My wait from check-in to the O.R. for a simple cataract surgical procedure was 4 hrs. Then, during procedure, anaestheseiologist was NOT attentive: sedative and/or anesthetic were inadequate for what became a very traumatic experience. At discharge, no sunglasses were given (nor was I informed in advance that I might need them). Hospital also set an unnecessary length of time without food and water--esp considering the wait--which left me dehyrdated (and subjext to increased nausea. Unacceptable.
I have mixed reviews about this place. The doctors and nurses are very helpful, professional and outgoing and the staff on the upper floors were also very polite but the first floor of this place is a zoo. That line in the front window is disgusting and the fake bodyguards in pants suits are very irritating and nose constantly asking the same questions as if theyre medical professionals. The receptionists inside the windows are also very repatative in their questionaing but theyre tolerable compared to the two in the back. Those two have horrible attitudes and look miserable. I witnessed the blonde one go into a screaming match with a patient and then say I should just walk out, I dont need this, O should leave these f**kers on their own. Now I dont know if she was reffering to the patients or her superiors, but sweetie this is the job you chose, if you hate it then quit and apply for welfare. Luckily though those two receptionist pick their battles wisely and were really recpetful towards my fiancé who has a huge mouth on her.All in all, I give the eighth floor 5 stars, and the first floor -5 stars.
Phenomenal team of Surgeons atNew York Eye & Ear, now linked tightly to Mount Sinai Beth Israel...the ONLY ER in Manhattan with Ophthalmologists at the ready. OcuPlastic Surgeon Dr. Harsha Reddy is a rock star doing what he was meant to do in this world. Dr. Hu and Dr. Bella Wolf rounded out the surgical team who performed surgery on my friend. They were simply the most capable team for the job at hand, a complex procedure, all of them extremely knowledgeable, all careful with their word choices when communicating with patients, full of compassion.Thank Gd for New York Eye & Ear and for their merger with Mount Sinai/Beth Israel...a winning combination!!! No need to go uptown.
I visited today to pick up a friend after a procedure. When I arrived on the 5th floor, I was sent to the back where a group of nurses were at a station. I asked about my friend, and was met by blank stares. No one knew who she was. Go to the television room and you will be called when she is ready. Fine. However, my friend finished her cataract surgery and came out to find me (using her cell phone) with no involvement by the staff. As we were about to leave, my friend asked a nurse if she needed to check out or anything. Oh, yes! Tell them you are leaving. We went to the same nurses station and were greeted by the same blank stares. Then one nurse looked at a clipboard to find my friends name. OK -- you can leave, she said. Of course she was supposed to be accompanied -- and its disgraceful not to be familiar with the names of patients being treated. I was not impressed.
While the initial first impression upon walking in was absolutely an OMG moment, once taken into the service area, everything changed. My husband was sent there due to Melanoma of the eye, to have a radiation plaque inserted, and the nursing staff and everyone could not have been more accommodating and supportive.Dr. Paul Finger was our doctor and he is AWESOME!!! We knew that from the first meeting and after talking with the specialist at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore that decision did not change. Even tho Baltimore was home we chose to come to New York to have the treatment done at the NY Eye Infirmary, and would not change it now.Dont take the reception area as the big picture. I agree the front desk lacks the professional quality it should have and the ladies there seem rather uncaring but the behind the scenes staff is excellent !!And Dr. Finger is by far the most gifted, caring physician we have ran into in a long time!!
Im a physician myself. Over the weekend I developed a red, swollen eye that hurt--an evil eye, as it were--and I didnt want to wait till Mon for someone to look at it. My opthalmologist recommended a Sunday trip to the Eye and Ear Infirmary on 14th Street. Although I came with enough reading material for three hours, I had no wait. Nurse Nurita Holley asked me the requisite questions and took my blood pressure; nursing assistant Jasna Gacevic checked my vision. And second-year resident Phillip Tenzel examined me and explained clearly what was wrong: I had a blocked tear duct, they saw ten of those a day at Eye and Ear, and he told me what to do for it. He went over the instructions twice while I wrote everything down. And he told me what to do to avoid future recurrences. I was out of there in a little more than an hour. Everyone was courteous, knowledgeable, and good-humored. A wonderful experience.
If you can not go to this idiotic place AVOid it!!!! Absolute chaos, terrible!!!! Took more then 1 hour just to register extremely slow people and no one want to work! Does not end there! Ones registered took another 4 hours to get to see the dr!!!!! Place is so stupid and unorganized not even funny!!!!!!!! We came here for 2 days and 3rd day they consider us as walk in and we had to wait 5 hours for stupid flllow up THE worst and umbest place!!!!! This place have all new interns no real experienced doctors either!!! Crazy !!!
I had cataract surgery today by a brilliant compassionate surgeon Dr Christopher Coad.i met a few professional and caring nurses Arlene yael Sherrie eva.theNurse manager Janine truly cared about hearing positive feedback about her staff. Most of all a nurse named Benny was so kind bright and caring he took the time to calm me and reassure him.i truly appreciate his knowledge respect and compassionGod bless you allOscar messer
I did surgery in my nose to remove nasal polyps with doctor patrick colley , he was great doctor, he did great job i really appreciated very good results of surgery no more congestion I get my sense of smelAnd also thanks everyone in team and nurses and all worker in mountain saint hospital
This place saved my moms life. On Monday June 13 2016, my mother suffered a stroke that effected her right eye, but since she got an injection on her left eye, she thought the injection had effected her eye, in that moment we had no idea it was a stroke. She went to her regular retina doctors in white plains and Pelham pkwy, on Wednesday the 16th, and they told her she had a stroke in her eye and to return on Friday for the injection on the other eye. Me not being convince I took her to the ear and eye infirmary the very next day, and they took her as a walkin and her the doctors there immediate noticed that it was a regular stroke and it was beyond their specialization. They immediately transferred her to the mount Sinai Beth Israel 3 blocks away, where they gave her the medical attention necessary to treat her stroke and within two days, she made a full recovery,m and if it wasnt because of the ear and eye infirmary taking action, we would have never known what could have happened. This is something her retina specialist from white plains and Pelham pkwy didnt do which in my belief was medical negligence.
The pits.Whoever runs that place is not doing what needs to be done.Try getting someone at NYEE to answer your call, they dont return calls or pick up their phones. I have to admit that there are one of 2 decent people there, but the rest of them just dont care one bit.All they want is to squeeze and milk everything they can from you or your insurance. If you have to deal with surgical coordination, good to you. Theyre rude, they refuse to return your calls and dont tell you the truth. If youre lucky, you can get someone who answers his or her phone to get the actual person you need to reach for you.Its not their health, their well-being or their eyes. NYEE is cold, non-communicative, rude, inconsiderate, argumentative and incompetent. Avoid this place at all cost.NYEE sucks.Dr. Sullivan, youre wonderful and I thank you. You should be in charge of this hellhole.
Hi i recently read and article about a 63 year old man that regain his sight after 55 from 2011,my father suffered the same condition retinal detachment. Was this the center that got that done?,if so it gave me some hope,up until now we thought it was impossible,we currently live in Mexico,is there any number I could call for this matter?
Ghetto receptionist. Answered the phone practically yelling in my ear. She didnt even take down my insurance card number to run and see if my insurance was accepted. She just told me no they dont take it. I wouldnt want to go here anyways. They sound unorganized and like a bunch of neanderthals.
Well I went to the sleep deperation and the lady at the desk had a nasty Attitude but when I got upstairs they was very nice.. but I’m waiting for my machine and they said two weeks... but it’s going on a month... can’t get to them on the phone at all..... and that’s two stars for the technician up stars.
I thought City Hospitals were BAD this Hospital is Even WORSE. I dont recommend this hospital for medical care to no one. Horrible customer service. They dont answer the phones they dont follow through with any concerns a patient might have. The One star that is given is just because the MD resident that did my fathers surgery otherwise they wouldnt get a star at all. VERY disappointed!!!!
There is nothing good I can say about this hospital except to mention couple of names. Dr. Jessica Lee and RN from the 8th floor Nahum Ramos are real stars between careless and irresponsible people. Also Id like to mention nurse from the operation room and girls-volunteers from the recovery room, sorry I did not write down your names.
The women in the reception has this rude intention of negativity, anything she says its about a “no” , and even if everything is in order , she will still look for anything to make it impossible again. Not to mention 10s of papers to sign about payment responsibilities as if we are coming here to party and ever think not to pay.
My only experience I have with this clinic is the annoying advertisement I have to listen to TWICE every time they play it. If you wanted us to remember you, you SCORED, and Ill make sure EVERYONE I speak with in New York Knows how I feel as well. What a waste of carbon.
I was there in 1998 as a gloucoma patient my specialist was dr Paul Sidoti I still remember all my moments there because all the staff were so amazing and my surgeries keeps working perfect till 2018 Im back to suffer again so my surgeries lasts for 20 years thats perfect I always will appreciate dr Paul Sidoti and the amazing staff
THIS IS A CRIMINAL HOSPITAL!!! THEY PERFORM SERIOUS SURGERIES HERE WHILE THE HOSPITAL DOES NOT HAVE TRAUMA UNITS AVAILABLE IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG!!! ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DO ANY SURGERIES HERE! IF THERE ARE COMPLICATIONS DURING RECOVERY, THEY CANNOT FIX ANYTHING WITHOUT TRANSFERRING YOU TO A REAL HOSPITAL!!!
I visited as observer ophthalmologist NYEE and had very wonderful experience. After spending about one month definitely feel much more confident in working with my patients having glaucoma-the sneak thief of sight .I am grateful to Prof.Robert Ritch and his team for giving me the opportunity to learn in very friendly and informative environment.
Worst place to come. Long waits and no one told me I needed a referral when I called twice. I asked for the manager and apparently there is no manager. Not to mention the security guards are extremely rude with no manners, they just consistently yell at you. I dont recommend this place at all, please save your time and go somewhere else.
I just called the clinic10 minutes ago...The lady who answered the phone was very rude, rushed to get off the phone, and hung up on me as I was trying to find out information about how to go about obtaining chalazion surgery....I don’t have insurance and I will be paying for the procedure out of pocket... and if this is the experience before surgery I can only imagine what will happen after.... I will not be spending my money here and will take my business elsewhere... Thank you but no, thank you
The staff there is very Unorganized and all over the place non of the staff can tell you where anything is and it even came down to the point that the doctor had to call me twice because to reschedule Because of the staff there making the wrong appointment I can understand once but twice is just unorganized There is no need for a doctor to call me twice to tell me that I missed my appointment when my appointment was scheduled incorrectly
I have heard wonderful things about NY EYE AND EAR but the receptionist are so rude and nasty I was trying to explain to her my pain she had no consideration to even hear me out ...I asked her why she was being rude that I was simply a patient who was afraid and suffering in pain and she told me she had no time for me and gave me a phone number to call which no one picked up just left me on hold 47 minutes ...I don’t understand how they can treat patients who are in pain this way ... such a shame one woman’s nasty attitude can ruin the whole look of a great practice ..
I WORKED THERE FOR 7 YEARS, THE RESIDENTS, ATTENDINGS AND STAFF ARE AWESOME. UNFORTUNATELY THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF OF AMBULATORY CARE IS TERRIBLE. THEY BLATANTLY SHOW THE STAFF THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEM. DR. TENNARO AND JOHANNA SICA ARE THE WORST PEOPLE YOU CAN HAVE AS YOUR BOSS. THEY DONT HAVE A CLUE HOW TO RUN THE CLINIC AND THEY LOSE LOTS OF GREAT STAFF BECAUSE OF IT. MT. SINAI MANAGEMENT YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO THAT.
The place is ridulous they expect you to wait for hours to see a Dr. When I asked how long it would be before I saw a Dr. she said I could go get something to eat and come back when I asked her how many hours she gave me this pitiful look that said I dont know, thats when I left.
I am a patient since 2014 ,I had ear sound problem each time I come to this facility with appointment they give a hard time they tellers are very rude and they wont speak English at all I have had very a bad experience.they let on line for hour they no care about patient .
Scheduling staff is a joke...been getting bumped since march...every time my appointment comes up its canceled...the excuse is they are busy, but why bump me only...6 bumps in the year so far...might break a record for most bumps in a year...its really frustrating when you need to see a doctor
SAW DR. JOHN SEEDOR FOR A FAMILY MEMBERS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED KERATOCONOUS. EVERYONE FROM THE FRONT DESK, TO THE DOCTORS OFFICE, AND EVERYONE IN BETWEEN WERE NOTHING BUT COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL. DR. SEEDOR, DR. Caitlin Morrison, OD, AND THE WHOLE STAFF WERE FANTASTIC. DRS SEEDOR, AND MORRISON, WERE EXTREMELY THOROUGH, PATIENT, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. IN ADDITION THEY TOOK THEIR TIME TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING TO US IN UNDERSTANDABLE TERMINOLOGY.A PREVIOUS PHYSICIAN IN EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ, TRIED TO TELL US A $5000.00 PROCEDURE WAS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY OR MY FAMILY MEMBER MIGHT NEED CORNEAL TRANSPLANTS. THANK YOU DR. SEEDOR FOR BEING SO HONEST WITH US.

2022-01-20I adore Dr Wieder and only continue to come here because i trust him with eye sight however I have been on the phone waiting to get through for over an hour. The roads are too dangerous and I can’t make my appointment later today. I am trying to call to reschedule and it’s very important my eyes are seen. Every time I go, I wait minimum of three hours. One day, I had an appointment at 830am, I got there on time and was not seen by the Dr until 2p. Please work on office admin process. It’s just so poor.

2022-02-16Doctors are good but the hospital lack organization. Staff is very rude specially the billing and authorization department is very bad. They actually lie and provide inconsistent information. Also, I saw that the hospital management responded to few comment below and gave the impression that they were going to take an action. However, they provided a general phone number of the hospital instead of a direct extension, which is useless.02/05/2022 -The form that you have provided below doesn’t work. Please post a real phone number and a real email address. So far you guys have given fake phone numbers and fake complaint forms. The leaders of this place will have to be embarrassed and ashamed publicly. This behavior assured me that our lives are in the hands of crooks.02/15/22So far I am still unable to resolve my issue.the link below still doesn’t work.

2022-03-21On March 17th I underwent an eye surgery. I had read the reviews online and was concerned! This was my first time having a procedure here. However my experience was one of professionalism and good care! Katherine registered me and explained things clearly as I had to sign papers. My surgery was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. I had to be prepped and the nurse Emma went over my medical records. She was personable. I waited with other patients in a room with social distancing! My dr came to see me and I was taken in by 10:33. The surgical team of Dr. Sze Wong treated me with care! After surgery, nurses Sheena and Nicole took care of me in recovery! I appreciated the care I received thru out this surgery! I wanted to write this review so others had another perspective. Pamela Yee

2022-02-23Had a question about medical clearance for a scheduled surgery and could not reach anyone after trying for days. Calls to office during business hours always go straight to the answering service, who take down messages marked as urgent that never get returned. Will not be getting surgery here -- not enough time to do labwork now and do not trust my ability to get in touch if there were complications afterwards.

2022-05-18Service was good with little wait time. However, went for irritation in the nose, and the doctor did a quick 10 min exam and prescribed antibiotics and ointment, and was charged $1600. The bill states a 30-44 minute exam. Do not go to this place that has unethical billing practices and overcharges ridiculously.

2022-05-26I am a resident physician practicing in the Bronx (Internal Medicine)I called this location this morning to set up an appt for an annual eye exam. I get that our medical systems are over-burdened and staffing is an issue, but this was just something else altogether...The woman who answered was rude and patronizing towards me - dont YOU know youll have to pay out of pocket for contacts? Surely, the more appropriate response here is, maam while your insurance will cover the ophthalmology exam, please note that contacts are out of pocket.I was also put on hold multiple times, it seems, to discourage me from making an appointment. Well it worked. Thanks for letting me know in the worst way possible.

2022-04-17Terrible experience. The doctor was very unprofessional, he seemed more interested in checking text messages on his phone than focusing on me. His manners were rude, definitely not a caring doctor. He did not explain my condition and needed to request the help of another doctor. Terrible, I will never go back and I won’t recommend this location.

2022-07-01The wait time for the Eye Center on the 8th floor is RIDICULOUS!!! Hours of sitting and waiting. It’s absurd and if not for Dr. Wieder, I wouldn’t bother. What makes them think it’s ok to schedule a 930am appointment and not call to be seen by doctor until 230pm!?!?! It’s almost criminal…

2022-07-12Will be suffering for life with complications from surgery and they had my revision surgery canceled bc I wanted to go to another hospital. Forcing me to live with open mouth wounds, torn muscles, jaw muscles pull as well and when the muscles pull my face swells. Also the Dr inserted a plate on my jaw I did not ask for and an abscess formed over it. Dont go here for anything take it from someone suffering with the effects over a year later.
